Speaker 1 (00:12):
That guy's really mean. You guys think I meant.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Oh yeah, each one, each one, each one.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I just don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
I guess you could call it a failure, but I
prefer the term learning experience. Dragging everybody a rag tag
fleet straggling forward on this day and great sports.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
Talk, Great sports Talk, Bossio.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Our engineers here, elk el Kandi, el Coatti, Zach Elko
who reveals during the break how much he truly hates
Messi and wants to see Messy dismembered on the pitch.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Very angry man. I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
I didn't know that Zach had this libbyan anger deep
in his soul, and that came out in the World Cup.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
That very interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
How would kind of inspired me to root for Argentina
the rest of the way.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Really really don't fly too's close to the sun. Did
you hear him?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
He's just made an icorous drop on you. That's a
mythological freaking reference from Zach. It's some of that will
meets a lot of money running. It's not a real
meach if it's not made with the greatest beer that
a Mexican could ever enjoy, or somebody who loves Mexico
(01:56):
or El Tree. People with the fighting spirit, people with
an unbelievable will to win, like Messi, an unbelievable will
to take out Islamic countries and only Islamic countries. That's
why is that? Why is that?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Why? They is it? What I do? They fix it?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Does he cheat if they play European teams or just
when they're up against like Angola?
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Well, I really wanted Cape Verde to beat them too,
but I also felt like the red card after the
Switzerland game, after a Switzerland sported goal.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
You hear it getting all you see.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
He's trying to get all technicals, trying to socer me
down like you didn't watch you were drunk at a party.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
And maybe that's the case. Maybe that is the case
in all cases.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
I just want a fair play in the World Cup.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
You want fair play so Libya can be in there.
Speaker 5 (02:47):
Hey, maybe when they get sixty four teams.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
They time sixty fourteenth. Maybe the Greeks. Maybe I don't
get crazy. How does Kirasal make it in but we
don't have Greece?
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Right?
Speaker 1 (03:00):
How does coaching Italy not in there? But Kate Verde? Right? Anyway?
Happy bo, that'll meet you a lot of Monday. Don
McClain is here.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
We got ghosted by our first guest who never actually
said he was coming on, Gary Klein. Uh So, instead
Don regaled us with summer league stories, and we're gonna
use Don later in the show to talk more about basketball.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
We might even talk.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
About Oh do you see that whiteboard about where he
might go that Rich Paul wrote, he wrote all the
stuff on the whiteboard. No, he pat had whiteboard. Did
you see it? You might go a bunch of different places.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
I'm sure there's a chance he could go to a
bunch of different places.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Do you think so?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Or do you think that maybe it's a little bit
oversold the interest in because you bring in you gotta
move a lot of furniture around. You know, you gotta
move a lot of furniture. It's not like just bringing
in the love seat. All right, fine, time for the
(04:06):
word of the day.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
With his words the word of the day.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Maybe you'll have something to add about this down. Today's
word of the day is jacks, as in jacks as
in a new group is moving to own the NBA
team that we all feel is coming.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Oh it's coming to Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
And of course Seattle. This is the Jack Jack Jack song,
Give Me by QQ.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
We used to play it for Jock Peterson because it
sounded kind of like Jock and he was hitting Jack's right,
so sort of a thing back in the day. See listen,
he's sounds more like Jock than saying Jack. He's saying
girls BALLFEEDI, which means girls are crying for the jackhammer,
(05:05):
which means they must be really in the construction or
must be rebarbed, must be.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Get it, get it, get it all right.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
The NBA team that is coming to Las Vegas could
be called the Jacks, led by Hall of Famer Jerry
Colangelo and former NBA player and Clipper hero and Clipper
coach and maybe one of the greatest tufts of chest
hair in the history of the NBA, Vinnie del Negro.
(05:45):
I don't know how Vinnie Del Negro ended up with
a whole bunch of money, but I mean, I don't know.
They claim according to Las Vegas locally, the Jacks the
group that's trying to create the Las Vegas Jacks eight billion.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Dollar don whoa in capital.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Eight billion dollars and they also in a very Vegas
way plan and said that they will build the most
impressive state of the.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Art basketball arena.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Wonder where they'll put that in the world, Like where
in Vegas? I mean, I guess maybe by elitibles right there.
Allegiance right there though too. Yeah, put on the other
side of the other side of the freeway. Though.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
You can do whatever you want, right I guess, I
mean a lot.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
What Vegas wants you to do is what they wanted
to do with the A Stadium. And they didn't get
their way, which is like, hey, why don't you guys
build a downtown. They're like, no, no, no, naked city
and they're like, oh this and that is going on.
I mean, downtown doesn't seem like that great of an idea.
And they're like, oh no, we got Downtown's gonna be great.
And and the A's they got what they wanted. They
(06:53):
got it where the tropicanas side is like right there, Zach,
you know all about this.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
You're not just involved in the Libyan desert.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
No.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
I love going to Vegas.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
You know, at first I'd been kind of horrified by Zachlyn.
At this point I've started to have a good time. Uh,
And and your thoughts on this, Zach do you have.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Are they cheating?
Speaker 5 (07:16):
No, I don't, And I think, uh, Summerland would also
be a nice place to move stuff over. I know,
like a lot of people from Vegas are native in
the Summlin area, but that's.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Where my grand my in laws live. They are not native.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
I think as Vegas keeps on expanding, is going to
branch out, maybe even Henderson.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
There's no such thing as a native person in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Like one hundred years ago, Las Vegas was like like
a rest stop.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
It's not it's it's a mob outlet.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
And now it used to be, and now it's a
corporate outlet, and now everybody's like, you know, he really
has to suck for people to be like, damn, I
missed organized crime running this town. Like this town was
really great when it was run by organized crime. You know,
when somebody wanted to shut up a hooker, they just
killed her and buried her in the desert.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
That was way better than paying all this money for
a valet.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Exactly right.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
I mean, it is kind of funny the way Vegas
has changed.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
But people don't like the name Jack the Jacks, and
I happen to like the name a lot.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
I mean, they already have the Aces, which is you.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Know, I think that's why they went with Jacks.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Right then they have the Golden Knights for the hockey team,
which makes you think about Kings. Yeah, and the ex
Caliber or what that? Yeah, the ex Caliber one of
the finer hotels, and they're not. I mean, I don't
have a problem with the Jacks.
Speaker 4 (08:36):
I don't really have a problem either.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
I like it, but they don't. People don't like it.
Jack Jack, Jack Jack. But good luck to Vinnie del Negro,
Vinnie of the Black. Here's my number, top number of
the name.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Number of the day is one P sho Hey. Otani's
New Balance New Balance. Otawi won cleats warn't in his
twenty twenty five Tokyo series last year, and they're signed
with a rare kanji? Is that how you say it?
I don't know ka and ji?
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Is this Japanese news?
Speaker 4 (09:11):
I think so with a rare kanji signature are being
auctioned and are expected to set a record for baseball footwear.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
The new Otani New Balance cleats.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
There's also an image of his dog decoy on the shoe.
The auction will be held on Monday on the Realist
dot com.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
So it's only one pair of shoes that's being auctioned. Yeah,
it's not like a bunch of shoes going on sale
like Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Shoot, here's a fun fact for EP. The most expensive
go ahead, it's funny effect. The most expensive Auxygen shoes
to date are Judy Garland's Ruby slippers. Wow that come
on now, which sold for thirty two million in twenty
twenty four. Thirty two million, Wow.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Michael Jordan's Air Jordan.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I knew they were.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Worth that much, and they were like just sitting at
the hard Rock Cafe or like playing at Olliwood.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Would you try to break the glass? Yeah? I have
a few drinks for sure.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Michael Jordan's Air Jordan Dynasty collection sold for eight million
in twenty twenty three, and his Flu nineteen ninety seven
Flu game shoes sold for one point three eight million
in twenty twenty three. It's quite possible that Otani's shoes
generate somewhere in the neighborhood of Kobe Bryant's Achilles Game
(10:36):
sneakers that sold for six hundred and sixty thousand and
twenty twenty three.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Somebody bought the shoes that Kobe blew his achilles in
for six hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yes, I don't.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
I don't think that's more shocking than Judy Garland's slippers
being thirty two million.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Oh, that's why you shot it back there. You didn't
want to test me. There's two bast it's here. Don's
getting pretty old, dude, he didn't want to test me.
That's like Don getting a little older in the NBA. Yeah,
and he sees Matumbo down there and he just shoots
a floater.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
He tries to shoot it over it.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
I played in the nineties, dude, we took the easy
twos over the contestantory.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Like Chris Webber just shooting from the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I would have swatted that. That's why you knew I
would have. All right, Ronny, this is the song of
the day.
Speaker 7 (11:29):
Badlands is our Song of the Day.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Released over forty years ago.
Speaker 7 (11:33):
Man from the Boss, the one and Only Bruce Springsteen

Speaker 4 (12:04):
All right, Ronnie, all right, d bag no no rebuttal this.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
Time youth baseball, barbecues and gold.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
God.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
That was a long time ago, wasn't it when I
said that fifteen years ago?
Speaker 3 (12:15):
Police Youth Baseball still exists, but not for us. We'll
be back with David Vase on seventy LA Sports, your
home of the Dodgers.
Speaker 8 (12:36):
This it's that justin yack to Michilada Monday's on the
Petros and Money Show.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
It's not a real michelada.
Speaker 8 (12:43):
It's not made with Medello Modelo Especia Rude with the
highest quality ingredients for a taste that's pure gold.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Welcome back, everybody joining us right now.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
We'll be David Vasse on a Modello meets a lot
of Monday on the Petro Send Money Show. You know
it's not a real meets if it's not made with Modello.
A reward for those with a fighting spirit. Modello the
mark of a fighter, and today we have a guy
who went to UCLA and achieved glorious things and a
(13:36):
guy who spent his time loving UCLA thout claiming Northridge
as his alma mater. Since then, he has risen one
of the great voices in baseball media. He will have
a Dodger Talk night one only one night of Dodger
Talk this year for the All Star Break.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Don Martin used to demand five.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
It's just gonna be Thursday this year, Thursday Night, Dodger
Talk and David Vassa join us right now after being
milked in the afternoon, the Home of the.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
Badger Day.
Speaker 8 (14:11):
With an inside look at the Dodgers. This is the
vass Report with David vasse.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
David is with us.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
The All Star break came a little early for the
Dodgers this weekend with the day game yesterday, and everybody
seems happy unless you got a text at nine thirty
this morning you didn't want.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
How does it feel, Dave?
Speaker 6 (14:33):
It feels good, But I feel the same way, Petros saying, look,
I asked te Oscar Hernandez and Maximuncy that after both
Friday night and yesterday's game, whether or not the All
star break was was on the horizon and maybe that
was taken away from the focus and they didn't deny it.
So you have to imagine that after a great first half,
(14:56):
even with being swept by the Diamondbacks, they have a
double digit lead in the NL West and they have
the best record in baseball. So you know, with the
defense as bad as it was the last five games,
talking to Oral Herscheizer about it, Freddie Freeman about it,
defense is about focus, and you can tell that maybe
the focus there were some lapses in that over the
(15:19):
course of the last five games, when the Dodgers made
nine errors.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Speaking of focus, Dave and I, look, I only come
in here a couple of times this summer, but when
I do, I feel like we're in the same position.
I'm asking you the same question, which is Dodgers again
with a huge lead. You know in their division, they
have the best roster in baseball. Is there anything like
that they've learned the last couple of years because they've
won it the last two years and kind of like
(15:45):
protecting that lead but also getting guys rest and all
that so that you're ready and right for the postseason.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
Yeah, as far as you know, the decision makers. I
think they understand that and learn that after twenty seventeen.
But when you're talking about the players themselves, they know
how to win now, and I think you understand the
difference between being experienced and knowing how to win. And
when we talked to Max Monthly on the pregame show
(16:13):
at the beginning of the home stand, I did ask
him that because he's been part of this team since
twenty eighteen, they've had those big leads and they've fell
flat in the first round of the postseason, and he said,
the difference between those teams and this team is that
they know how to win. And I feel like people
from the outside don't give the Dodgers enough credit for
(16:35):
knowing how to win now. They're not the team in
twenty twenty one or twenty twenty two or even twenty
twenty three. They're back to back champions and they've had
a lot of big moments, a lot of big games,
and they understand how to win those. And I feel
like that's their biggest advantage even going into the postseason
where these other teams are trying to get to where
(16:56):
they've been. They know what it takes to win a
seven game series or win a short five game series
better than any other team out there, and next months,
he believes they know how to manage a double digit
lead better than any other team that they've had since
he's been there.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
How does that all play in?
Speaker 3 (17:13):
David vasse as our guest featured by Downey Hyundai, very
proud of his car.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
That Downey hen day to Orange County this week.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
See, while everybody's out in Philly toiling away, Daves is
just going to ride around town then windows down.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
He deserves it.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
It's beautiful hair, yeah, flowing in the wind.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
Dave O'tani? How does that all job?
Speaker 3 (17:38):
With Otani and him knowing how to manage himself in
the second half?
Speaker 6 (17:43):
I mean, isn't it Otani like to hit a leadoff
home run the day that he's going to get his
knee drained after the game? I mean home run double.
He tried to do everything he could to will the
Dodgers to that win and show the urgency that he
was hoping the rest of the team would show. You know,
I don't get to be down by the dugout that
(18:03):
often during the season, but yesterday, I'll tell you this,
the first time being down there Otani was front row
in the camera well where Mark Pryor usually stands cheering
on Ema. Sheen cheering on the relievers, kind of showing
the urgency and trying to get that team up. And
there's just something about him that people don't realize the
(18:25):
effect he has on the rest of the team when
he's in the lineup, When he's engaged, there's an era
of confidence that permeates the rest of that dugout. And
obviously he can only do so much being a dh
but he was trying to do everything he could to
show the urgency to help the Dodgers salvage that last
(18:46):
game and go into the break with a win. But
it's remarkable that this guy knew he was going to
have his knee drained, probably longer than we did, and
he goes out hits a leadoff home run. He's going
to have an ejection into that left knee sometime between
now and Thursday, and all expectations are he'll be in
(19:06):
the starting lineup Friday night in the Bronx at Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
What should we look out for Dave after the break?
Is there anyone notable coming back? Is there people that
are getting close to being off the.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Major buddy, Blake Snell's coming back to buddy at.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
All, I would say about you and me the same way.
I mean Rick Monday.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Sometimes set.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
That way.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
Yeah, everybody wants saying with me. What can I say?
Speaker 3 (19:34):
You're right, You're very popular day, There's no doubt about it.
Tell tell about your butt. Buddy coming back.
Speaker 6 (19:41):
And the other guy, well, the great Snell Zilla, the
two times two time Cy Young Award winner, will be returning,
if not on the first homestand after the All Star
break shortly after, depending on where the Dodgers feel like
he could benefit their rotation. The best Edwin Diaz going
to be returning right around the same time as Snell.
(20:03):
Key K a Hernandez was definitive and saying that he's
going to be activated on that first homestand after this
line long nine game road trip, so in that Seattle
Boston homestand Key K a Hernandez will be back. Blake Trinan,
who's going to join us on Thursday night. So as
Mark Pryor on Dodger Talk, two guys that were key
(20:24):
to the Dodgers' success in twenty four beating the Yankees
in their house are going to join us on the
eve of the Dodgers returning back to Yankee Stadium for
the first time since Game five. Blake Trinin has been
feeling really good and should be back maybe even before
the end of this road trip, possibly on the homestand
(20:45):
as well. But they're getting a lot of guys back.
Diaz Trynan Snell Glass now should be returning in August sometime,
and that's why they feel like they don't have to
overpay in prospect capital to acquire a treks Google or
any other starting pitcher.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
What about Will Smith? Should I know? Is he out
for a while or is he close to getting back?
Speaker 6 (21:07):
They had a re attachment Harry's that's a great mystery,
don a great mystery. Really, Yeah, nobody's really pinpointed what
exactly is ailing Will Smith neck Dave Roberts has been
ambiguous at best when asked about when he may return.
The best answer we've gotten from him is during our
(21:28):
managers meeting percented by Downey Hyundai, when he said that
he's not expected back any time before August and maybe
somewhere mid August now, and he's vital. I mean, we
talked about Dalton Rushing and the emotions that overflow. How
are those emotions going to play if he's the starting
catcher in October. That's going to be something interesting to
(21:52):
watch between now and the end of the regular season
when the Dodgers. If the Dodgers get Will Smith.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Backay is our guest. Mike Trout's leading off in the
All Star Game. I thought he got hurt and he
went away, but he came back. Did you see that
coming for this All Star Game? And he's really now
that Otani's out, one of the only attractions, at least
for the West Coast guys.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
Petros I spoke to people around the Angels in spring
training and they told me from spring training on that
they would expect Trout to be healthy and productive as
he has been in years. Because the game is in Philadelphia,
and he's so wanted to be in the All Star
Game back in Philadelphia. So it doesn't surprise me that
(22:39):
he rose to the occasion to be able to.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Pull this off.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
And it should be quite a reception for him leading
off for the American League tomorrow night to start the
game in Philadelphia. So he got what he set out
to do. Let's see if he can you keep that
going the second half of the season. But I know
talking to people close to him with the Angel how
much he wanted this, and he even went as far
(23:03):
as to do an interview on Dodger Talk when the
Angels were at Dodger Stadium to get the vote. So
I'm taking full credit for all this, Dave.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
What do you think?
Speaker 4 (23:12):
And I read yesterday about the new format for this
home run derby, what do you think about it tonight?
I think the fact that they've taken him off the
clock is a good thing. What do you think?
Speaker 6 (23:21):
I agree? I thought the clock was cumbersome and imposing.
It's not like the pitch clock where you don't notice
that the clock was very much in play, and I
think it exhausted guys and maybe even had some guys
apprehensive in participating because of the clock. So I liked
the swing off. I like the number of swings. So
(23:43):
I'm going with the swings. And I could tell you this,
me and my little little guy over here, Joseph, we're
rooting for Bryce Harper because Dino Evil's thrown to him.
And also the great Junior Caminero, who I predicted would
win the American League MVP despite being chastised by Eric
Carross when I called that.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Don't let Carrol's chastise you, Dave.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
It gets ugly between the two.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
Yeah, well, because everybody bows down to Carros, people like
Petros detify him, and I just treat him like a
regular Greek guy from Manhattan Beach.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
He's from San Diego.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
Well, he's associated with the South Bay. Now, come on,
him and Piazza lived at Paisanos.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Bring up he acts like I brought up like the
war and he fought in Vietnam. Like, come on, come on.
Speaker 6 (24:35):
He's got kids, he's got a wife, a family.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Well I know that. I didn't say. It's not like
I brought it up inappropriately.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Like one time I saw you in the back and
you were standing up, and you.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
Know, it was like, well that's where it's going.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Well, you're right, I guess here. Still, you know, he
could have a little more grace.
Speaker 6 (24:53):
All right, Dave, Why don't you bring it up yankee
doodles with my family right here where my wife and
children's sleep. Do you think I want you to to
bring up the yankee doodle.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
In my home?
Speaker 3 (25:03):
But if my wife slips, but my children play with
their tools, David Vassy, Ladies and gentlemen. Home Run Derby
coming up in four. Everybody's having a good I mean five,
everybody's having.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
A good time.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
We'll be back with more great sports talking s l
A Sports. You're a home of the Dodger. You feel.
Speaker 8 (25:31):
Back to Michalada. Mondays, I'm a Petrose and Money show.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
It's not a real if it's.
Speaker 8 (25:36):
Not made with Medella Medello especial rude with the highest
quality ingredients for a taste that's pure gold.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Everybody, what's drag it? Welcome back, it's Petrosen Money.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
We are live on your Dodger station, AM five seventy
LA Sports, No Dodgers. Tonight we did talk to David Vess,
very popular broadcaster.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Now David Vass.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Home run Derby's popping off here shortly.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Yeah, I don't care.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
I don't really either, But I.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Mean, I guess if Bryce Harper wins because Dino Evile's
thrown it. Yeah, but yeah, didn't t Oscar win and
nobody showed up a couple of years back that.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Everybody went home because Freddy Freeman's son. That was bad.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Anyway, it's all happening. We'll be having four hours of
Great Sports Talk.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Tomorrow, Great Sports Talk.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Don McLain is here tonight and he will retire after that.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Jonas will be here tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Although I thought you might like this story, Dawn, because
you watched the soccer.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Like I did.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Yeah, and we enjoyed the soccer. You know, I didn't
freak out about it. I wouldn't go as far as
to call I don't know a country, a whole country,
a country of cheaters and good, well meaning people of
Argentina just because a bunch of Nazis moved there after
the war World War two. They can't help it that
their way tucked down there by Antarctica.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
Zach Elk said it.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
He attacked him, our producer, and then and then from
from East Africa, Matt Dembecky came over and did the
same thing. And I don't appreciate. I don't like that
kind of talk here East Africa. I always thought Ethiopia
was in the north, but I guess that's just from
Moroccans anyway. So we had that talk. But I watched
(27:40):
the soccer. I don't act like an expert.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Look, well, if you'd actually watched, you would after the
red car that was clearly a yellow.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
I can't believe it. I can't believe Zach that FIFA
is corrupt. I've never heard of such a thing. I mean,
I can't. When the World Cup was in Cutter four
years ago with a bunch of weird Bedouins dying and
building that I didn't hear anything about that.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
Also, if you go back to watching the Netherlands game
versus Argentina, well that's what.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
I want to talk about.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
But I don't want to talk about you and your
cheating allegations. I want to talk about the darling of
the World Cup. Is that white guy that looked like
a white ape.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Holland.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Yeah, Arling Holland the star of the Norwegian team and
apparently one of the top five soccer players in the world.
Big dude, big and stiflingly fast, like fast, which was
kind of cool to watch. But he was obviously very
much embraced by the United States, and he embraced the
(28:44):
United States in particular Texas. He brought home cowboy keepsakes
from Texas and he spent a lot of money. He
went to wild Bill's Western Store in Dallas, him and
four other Norwegian players went absolutely buck wild on a
(29:04):
private Now, I on like a private shopping spree. I
used to have a girlfriend that worked at fred Siegel.
They would have to close down for some celebrity to
go perus around. Hey, you know what, it's an imposition
for the rest of us. But apparently he bought an
El Presidente Felt hat, which is quite expensive, a beaver
(29:28):
felt hat. He bought boots, He bought Western shirts, he
bought belt buckles, and he bought a taxidermied raccoon, a
dead raccoon taxi dermat holding a liquor model.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
He bought a statue of two.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Taxidermy squirrels, one of them wearing a sheriff's hat and
the other drinking a Budweiser bud each of those four
hundred and fifty dollars. So he bought free taxa dermied statues.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Well, you know, formerly I thought they'd be more than that. Well,
I don't know how much it costs. I don't either, but.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
That's a good dead squirrel. Let me.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
In total, the Norwegians rolled up into wild Beer Bill's
Texas store, and I guess this is worth closing it down.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Spent ten thous.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
I'm sure wild Bill was happy.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
And guess who footed the whole bill, that big white
ape Holland.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I think who is one of the highest paid.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
I was gonna say, I'm sure ten grand's not much
for him.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
The way and a lot of people say that everybody
cheated to be Norway?
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Is that is that? Sat?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Are you doing? Are you too busy doing? Did Norway cheat?
Did somebody cheat Norway?
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Oh? Well, Norway got cheated by England because the wire,
the ball hit the wire.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
I saw the ball hit the wire. Is that a
controversy or what is I mean?
Speaker 5 (30:58):
Because it's not supposed to interfere.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
Yeah, but we saying that that's like they did that
on purpose or no, it's.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Not on purpose.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
It was supposed to just it was supposed to be
a dead ball situation where they do a free kick.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Yeah, I noticed that. I noticed that.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
You know, when football, we try to keep that camera,
you know, behind the action, but you never know, I mean,
you know, it could pop up and hit that that
camera or the wire, because those things are flying around
pretty prodigiously they are. I mean, when you call a
football game not soccer, I have no idea soccer. I
shouldn't be that hard to direct, to be honest with you,
but I mean really, but it's kind of like basketball
(31:35):
with a bigger yeah. You know, think about directing a
baseball game where the guys are catching the ball in
the outfield while people are running around the bases. That's hard, Like,
that's that's not easy to do those shots. Everything else
is you follow the ball and then you clean it
up later. But could you imagine, you know, uh, directing
a football game and there's that that crazy camera. That's
(31:59):
that's it's behind the flying camera. I mean, usually I
don't do high profile enough games to have one of those,
but every once in a while they throw me one
of those, and you just call the whole game off
of it. Like it's you know, it's like being God
and watching the game like you're similar like a bird,
like right above the quarterback, you can see the whole
(32:20):
you know, you see the blitzing, the offensive line, the
defensive line, everything everybody's doing. Well.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
It's similar to like people have asked me, at you,
dub when you call a basketball game, you're about twenty
rows up. Oh, like a perch and a perch, and
it's so much better for me to see plays develop,
see what kind of you know, situations they're in what
alignments they're in versus sitting on the court.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Yeah, it's kind of funny because you see this all
the time when we talk to coordinators in football. You know,
you say, you know, if it's a new guy and
you don't know them, you say, are you up or down?
You know, they always have this when the reason is
one or the other. I'm up because I can't see
anything down there, or I'm down because I want to
look at the guy's eyes and know what's going on.
(33:05):
It's like, Okay, there's a lot of ways to do it.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
But what a great guy that Holland seemed to be.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
And he has now left the United States, probably never
to return, but we remember him.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
He won't be uh, he won't be able to slip
past people in Norway. I don't think if he's wearing
all that stuff he bought in Wild Bill. Yeah, I
would imagine you got a felt cowboy out rolling around.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
When they solo when they serve it's the Oslo Cowboy.
When they sold him.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
That hat, they were probably like, that young man is
gonna be very very popular when he gets back to Norway,
not that he was before. Right now that we know
about him, I think it's okay for him to be
popular around the world. That's our that's our myopic American view, right, Zach,
are we sure he didn't buy international?
Speaker 1 (33:55):
Zach?
Speaker 4 (33:55):
Are we sure he didn't buy any real estate in
the Dallas area While he was at.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
It possible, Libby in propaganda said, we'll be right back
with more great sports talk.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Thanks for being here, than
Speaker 4 (34:11):
