we're not giving away that, but you can do it.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
No Dodger game. We're giving away one thousand dollars if
the Dodger game gets banged.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
No, no, no, no, we're not doing.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Ronnie just fight his way off the hold. Yes, he
did control this from disguise.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
He is a man of many talents. But if the
Dodger game is is you guys don't But I know
where he's at.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Okay, fine, whatever, Fine, everybody knows where he's at. All right,
forget he said, any They go ahead and.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Lebron watch, Sorr, we're on Lebron watch because everybody's talking
about where he's gonna going. We're always on Lebron watch, guys,
We're always on there.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Well, Patrick Beverley said Lebron was going to make his
announcement today. I think that Lebron has created a lot
of negative energy waiting on this.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
I'm rubbing my nipples thinking about it. You guys talking
about are you guys talking about me. Everybody talking about me.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Well, Kendrick Perkins came out and said he's hearing Miami.
Patrick Beverley tweeted out, it's happening today, so everybody's freaking out.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
I told somebody that it was the Warriors for sure.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
He told a fan who rolled up on him in
his car. He's like, pretty good. So we're still on
the on watch Lebron watch right.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Now that we've covered up that mistake, I mean, the
commission up. Now that we've covered up that mistake and
the mistake, were you gonna tell us what you were
actually saying about an announcement?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yeah, the third top of the PMS Summer Tour, if
the Dodger game gets to Bang tomorrow will be a
four hour show. We'll let you know tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
We're giving away, but we're gonna share where Lebron's going.
No matter what, we're not going to.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Lebron watch.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Adam Silver did say they're waiting to put out the
schedule for the National Games and when he makes his decisions.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
You gotta be uh, you gotta be pretty stupid if
you don't think this is affected Lebron negatively. People hate
Lebron for.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
This, Well, it depends. I mean, the team that gets
him is going to be excited.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Everybody. Blue balls.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
Those balls are very blue.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Everybody thought he was going to do in his podcast
last week at the Fanatics Convince yeah, and Halliburton's like,
so I told you not to ask me about that.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
Okay, sorry, geez, mind the game, pour the wine, get
the get the clippers out, cut my hair. Taco Tuesday,
Taco Tuesday.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
What else we got?

Speaker 5 (05:18):
Barbershop, barbershop, barbershop, barbershop, space Jam, space Jam.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Lebron didn't want to be overshadowed by the World Cup.
Now that the World Cup is over and we can
all go back to our lives, it might be time
for the king to bust. All right, Papa's gonna books.
It's time for the word of the day. The word
of the day. Today's word of the day is big

(05:45):
fat cow. You know, it's pretty important, Matt that people
socialize in the world. We all see what happens when
the world doesn't socialize. We went through COVID and Ronnie
almost got fired. We almost burned down the building. Speaking
of fires, right, so we know that it's important for
people to socialize. And I mean I'm not like this

(06:07):
because I played college football, so I think everything that's
not like that is kind of gay, which is nothing
wrong with that. But you know, I never joined like
a right happy like the gay nineties eighties. But you know,
I never joined like a co ed soccer club, you know,
where they like play soccer and there's some like thick legged,

(06:29):
big ass chicks in there that you might you know,
throw it at, you know, in your twenties. You know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
That's very personal.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
But they have those you know what I'm saying, you know,
and a lot of those soccer players are thick legged
and they have big ass and you know, there's men
and women out there and it's you know, natural. But
I never joined. I never joined anything like that. And
I never joined like a like a running club you
know where they have you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Yeah, y'all wear the same top and yeah, a lot.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Of dudes based a lot of poots, you know what
I mean. So you're still with your boyfriend, Hey, good
pace there, blah blah blah. You know, like, I've never
done anything like that, And you know, I mean, what's
the worst thing that can happen? You know, I mean,
you're in the run club, you run around, you hook
up with a big ass chick. But what's worse, Matt,
is if you join a hiking club, right, and you

(07:16):
go up in the middle of nowhere and there's a
big fat cow in your hiking club and they have
to airlift her out. And guess who has to pay for.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
All that the hiking club, the club itself.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Right, listen to this budget I got I don't know,
I got this report. So like next time you're like, yeah,
I'm going to join this, you know, Griffith Park Hiking Club,
and then you go roll in there with some big
cow and they have to freaking lift her out because
she don't know how to walk, And next thing you know,
you got to foot the bill. Listen to this.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
A girl named Grace suffered heat exhaustion after hiking just
two miles, and her hiking group could now be facing
a seventy thousand dollars helicopter rescue bill. The video showed
Grace starting the hike before later being airlifted by a
search and rescue helicopter. Grace became too weak to continue
after walking about two miles, so the group stopped while
guides wrapped her in an emergency blanket and called for

(08:08):
a helicopter. Many people focused on Grace's size, arguing that
her physical condition may have made the hike more difficult.
Others pushed back, saying she is an adult who chose
to join the hike and that heat exhaustion can happen
to anyone in extreme temperatures. Many users questioned why a
helicopter was needed for a trail that was only about
two miles long, but some saying it would have been
faster to walk back. Others argued that once someone is

(08:30):
suffering from serious heat exhaustion, moving them without medical help
could make the situation worse. The seventy thousand dollars rescue
bill has added even more controversy. The members of Grace's
hiking group may have to share the cost of the helicopter,
leaving the entire group facing a huge bill after what
started as a short hike.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
So if you're in a hiking group and somebody shows
up with Cameron Mannheim, you know, or whatever.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
I'm not hiking today, well you might just be like, hey,
I you know.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Are we confident we can can fireman carry this woman
out of here? Or you know what I mean. Yeah,
like when I first started doing hot yoga. God knows,
I'm still a fat guy. But when I first started
doing hot yoga, and I you know, wasn't used to
the heat. You know, if it got too much for me,
I'd walk out. And you know, no, they didn't have
to airlift me or you know, it was really nobody.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
Else, no ambulance, no emergency.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
It was really nobody else's problem, you know what I mean.
Like the other people in the room just went on
doing yoga, and I just it's a very interesting conundrum,
right because you're in a hiking crew and you want
to be cool.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
Twenty twenty six little insensitive to say, hey, we're we're
going up fifteen hundred vertical feet there, sweetheart.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
And would you rather have been insensitive or would you
rather have to pay on the hook for seventy k
eight thousand bucks in the group because one of your
friends brought to fetch it to the hike.

Speaker 5 (09:58):
That's when you just leave her. Hey, you brought her.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
This is on you. I mean, that's tough, though.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Riding club is kicking you out of our club and
we're leaving now.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
If it's like Yosemite now, which I guess they stopped
taking reservations and now everybody's going and it's like shoulder
to shoulder and Yosemite and like packed with traffic on
the trails. I guess they could have just passed her
down hand to hand, right, you know in Yosemite. Yeah,
like a bucket of water on top of your head. Yeah,
like I did with the fire right, So you know,

(10:34):
just food for thought, you know, for those of you
like in a hiking club or something, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Now, does everybody in the hiking club have like a
backpack that's got a straw coming out in a tube
that goes right to their mouth?

Speaker 5 (10:44):
What do they call those, like a like a puff
camel camel pas?

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Yeah, yeah, that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Not THEO No, But I just picture three or four
of these guys with like granola looking dudes with these things,
and like, come on, come on, Susan, you.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Can do it. If her name was what was her
name at center Dame Grace. But you saw like there's
a guy like sitting next to her with his face
in his hands, like I can't believe this is happening.
And then they airlift her out of there, and it
just looks like, you know, they're airlifting that bison that
attacked that old man.

Speaker 5 (11:14):
Yeah, it's like a cow in the in the blanket,
whether their four legs are just hanging out the front
and back. Hey, f you guys, I'm leaving her. I'm continuing,
so you guys figure out what the hell you want
to do. I don't care about the hiking club. I'm
out of here.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
You know, now, if you're in a soccer game, you know,
I mean, somebody gets hurt their shin in your co
ed soccer game, you know, she walks off whatever. You
could still look up with her later. You know. The
important part is the hooking up with the fat.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
If the helicopter needs to be introduced, we're gonna have
to have some weight limits, you're right, And again we
have to do a cardio test.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Yeah, I mean, you know, but it's an uncomfortable conversation
like Acho would want to have with here, Grace.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
I understand this may not be the most appropriate thing,
but I'm gonna need thirty jumping jacks out of you
right now. See what you can, and then I'm gonna
grab your wrist, check your.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Pulse drop and give me twenty.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
It's a a hiking Usemite. Like the goal, like, Hey,
we're gonna train for three months, Grace, and then we're
gonna go to the city.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
They were at Yosemite. I just made that part of it. No,
but the most of it.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
They want a two mile hike at Usemite.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Most important thing to remember is if you see a
soccer chick who's in her mid twenties with bulbosy calves
and a curvaceous behind, that's a nice, you know, thing
to be in a show ed thing with. That's all
I'm trying to say.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
Most importantly, here's my number.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Number of the days.

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Number of the day is nineteen fifty three. This will
be our final hour. Fun fact brought to you by
Concordia University of Irvine's Masters in Coaching and Athletics Administration program.
It is a fact the coach has more influence on
others in one year than the average person does in
a lifetime. Make the most out of that opportunity by
impacting others. You can find out more at CUI dot
edu slash Coaching nineteen fifty three. Pee Happy National Whiffleball Day.

(12:57):
I know something that gets Kate's but a thing to
look like that long, narrow whiffleball bat that we all
enjoyed back in the day. To hell with your giant, red,
big barrel ps bat's eye, fair. I hope that wiffleball
still tracks with the kids, because back in the day,
the neighborhood rallied around wiffleball. You could play it in

(13:20):
a spot as small as a backyard, as big as
the school yard. And today being official National whiffle Ball Day,
I remind you, as I just discovered myself this morning.
The official and original whiffle ball, the one in that
black and orange box with the eight slots on one

(13:40):
side of the ball, invented by David Mulaney in Fairfield, Connecticut,
has been in the same family for three generations in
seventy years, and it is still made in the same
factory in Shelton, Connecticut. It is still family owned. They
do not advertise, they do not run any commercials. They

(14:01):
made one single commercial all the way back in nineteen
sixty one celebrity endorsement from Whitey Ford and they were like,
this did nothing. It is one hundred percent word of mouth.
So for the last sixty five years they have shipped
over a million whiffle balls per year, and they have
shipped over one hundred million whiffle ball since their inception.
So a big, happy, hardy National Whiffleball Day to the

(14:25):
mulaney family and to all of those parents that are
indoctrinating their boys and their girls into the lovely world
and game of whiffleball.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
I often talk about my friend Darren because he's impressive.
You know, the architect who built the Ram facility and
a many other things, and he was a usc baseball player.
I believe that he won the whiffleball National Championship, traveled
to the East Coast and battled, and he was pretty
amazing wiffleballer. I mean, you can't imagine, oh you can

(14:58):
get that damn thing to break like feet. What they
were doing was not you know, it wasn't right. I
would see him out at Hermosa Beach, you know, honing
their scale in it. Their wiffle ball level was sifth
lord level, International championship level. Impressive, very impressive.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
Celebrate Wiffleball Day the proper way with the official whiffleball
on that black and orange box. They do not advertise,
but not the fake. Not the fake holds all the
way around. That wiffleball sucks, doesn't make any sense. He
needed to have it on the one half so you
can get that crazy bite on that curveball.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
You know it's different from baseball. It's whiffleball.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
Oh, yes, I knew he was coming in.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
We got an update.

Speaker 5 (15:43):
Lebron Watch.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
According to my friend sham Scherarnia, he talked to Rich Paul.
There is no decision, no choice yet, no timetable on
a choice as of yet.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
Well that's a crap. I almost said the S word update.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Yeah, you shouldn't have done that.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
No, that was a very plug for shams.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
You bit off more than you could chew there trying
to get involved in the breaking news world. Get your
peepe whack for that.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
This is the song of the day.

Speaker 7 (16:19):
Yeah, all right, the song of the day is from
Chris Cornell.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
We'll play it.

Speaker 7 (16:26):
I'm trying.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
I just have to get out.

Speaker 7 (16:28):
Chris Cornell would have been sixty two years old today,
but he died in twenty seventeen. Chris Cornell was the
lead singer of many bands, Soundgarden, Audio Slave, Temple of
the Dog. Just to mention a few. He also was
a solo singer. Today's song is Seasons from the soundtrack
of Singles the movie and just a great song.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Well, thank you, Michelle, You're welcome, Michelle. Ronnie tried to
hide Chris Cornell's guitar, but we found it there it is.

Speaker 5 (16:58):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
We will return with David Vasse and then a flip
top story of the day and great sports Talk will continue.
And don't forget a bonus dead and Alive extra content
for the podcast because we're offered, let's stay with it.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Petros Papadakis that money Spire. This is Petros and Money
on demand.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Petro some Money.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Hey, I'm five seventy eight Sports Live Everywhere on the
iHeartRadio app. And it is a MODELO meet a lot
of Monday on the Petros and Money Show. Remember if
it is not they meet you a Lotta made with Modello,
then it's not a met you a lotta a reward
for those with a fighting spirit MODELO The Mark of
a Fighter. Dodgers Phillies coming up just after four, the
Home of the Dodgers with an inside look at the Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
This is the Vassi Report with David Vase davidsse Our
hero live in Philadelphia. He wasn't there for the All
Star Game, but he made it back. He'll be there.
I heard he did a great job communicating about the
delay or the postponement on Saturday to Paulay and Tim
Kait so they can enjoy him and Dwayne working together. Communication.

(18:19):
That's what it's all about. Davidssa from Spectrum Sports Net,
a star on MLB Network, and he stars here on
seventy with the Dodgers. He'll be with him at the
White House. He's all over this East Coast trip in
Philly right now. How's it going out there, Dave.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Oh, it's hot but not so humid, and tomorrow there's
some rain in the forecast. So the Dodgers have a
real possibility of having to play two doubleheaders in the
first two series on this East Coast trip, so they
got to manage that.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Dodgers made a trade. They traded the guy from my
high school, Dave.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
What happened, Yeah, Seth Halberson for unfortunately Frosso and a single.
A outfielder. Seth Halverson is a very interesting arm I've
talked to people that are close with the Rockies told
me he has a great arm, just maybe needed to
get out of Corus Field. And if you guys remember,

(19:18):
I don't know, maybe eight years ago, the Dodgers made
a trade with the Rockies for a really good left
handed reliever that got swallowed by Corsfield, and that was
left handed Jake McGee. And when the Dodgers acquired him,
he turned back to Jake McGee. That was really good
with the Rays. So Seth Alverson throws ninety nine one

(19:40):
hundred miles an hour, He'll touch it. He's an interesting
arm that the Dodgers have acquired to save from the altitude,
and he may turn out to be the next Will
Klein or Evan Phillips.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
Dave to the pitchers on the roster, how impressive was
yamamotos outing at Yankee Stadium yesterday morning? And does it
look like he's kind of getting and settling into I
know he didn't have a great outing against the Diamondbacks,
but it seemed like they were ready for the All
Star break. Does it look like he's settling into that
dominant Yamamoto mode.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
He has been. I mean, if you look at his
last ten starts outside of that one start against the Diamondbacks,
that really wasn't that bad defense let him down and
not a lot of hard hit balls. But he's been
phenomenal and definitely should be in the conversation for the
National League Scy Young Award and talking to David Cone
after Yamamoto's performance in the first game yesterday, it was

(20:36):
eye opening to hear a guy of David Cone's stature
to be as impressed with Yamamoto as he was, and
just the thinking as a pitcher in real time on
the mound to find a way to get swings with
a purpose, to be able to get strike three or
to get that final out. So he was masterful, and

(20:56):
he only threw one hundred and two pitches in a
complete game, first complete game the Dodgers have had by
a pitcher since Gavin Stone in Juna twenty four against
the White Sox. Though I mean it was complete surgery
by Yamamoto against the Yankees offense that is not very disciplined,
and he exploited that.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
David Masse brought to you by downy Hyundai, missing his
Hyundai of course on the East coast in Philadelphia tonight,
joining us right now on the Petrosen Money Show. I
know that the bats are kind of gonzado, especially for
the bullpen game. But the bullpen looked pretty good, only
giving up a couple runs. But Dave, you talked so
much before this road trip about how much this road

(21:38):
trip would tell about what the Dodgers' mindset would be
to start the second half here, And what have you
seen so far? Have you seen what you thought you
would see?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I asked Dave Roberts that question if he was happy
after those three games in New York, and he was
very pleased with the way the Dodgers played. They locked
it in defensively after kind of not being focused going
into the break, so they were refreshmenttally and they've come
out with a vigor that we've seen the entire year,

(22:11):
and certainly the focus. So Dave Roberts was really happy
with the quality at bats, and he was really happy
with the defense and the way the bullpen game went
last night. He was happy about that. And you know,
Evan Phillips had not pitched for what nearly fifteen months
in the major leagues. I think everybody, including Evan, expected

(22:33):
there were going to be some speed bumps along the way,
and last night was one of them.

Speaker 5 (22:37):
Dave What about the outing by Roki Sasaki. You know,
we get excited about velocity. He had that at bad
against Chisholm, where he had four hundred plus mile an
hour pitches. Did it look different? Did it look like
he was really throwing that heat compared to what he's
been doing before this or is it just kind of
that's what Roki does. The guy can throw hard, and
there's just other stuff he's got to figure out.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
I wouldn't put it in the bucket of that's just
what Roki does, because Roki has not done that before
in the major leagues. Seventeen pitches of over one hundred
miles an hour, we haven't seen that. He hasn't done
that in his short time with the Dodgers, And there
just seemed to be a lot more focus and intensity.
When I spoke to Dalton Rushing after that game, he

(23:22):
just said that he believed Rochi rose to the occasion
of that stage at Yankee Stadium and certainly came back
with a different mindset to open up the second half.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Of the year.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
And that's what you got. Not to mention maybe the
security of the gigantic glove that he had on to
prevent any tipping, So I think all of those things
gave him confidence to do what he did.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
I mean, the glove looked kind of like a clown's glove,
but it works. David Passe, before we let you go, Dave,
what can we expect in Philly?

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Well, obviously the biggest news very de lete here. I
know it was the weekend, but show a oton. He
was supposed to start on Wednesday. He is not starting
on Wednesday, and I don't see him pitching anytime in
the next three weeks with the way Dave Roberts described
it over the weekend, and he's still going to d H.

(24:14):
He DHD all three games, including the doubleheader, and then
in between games yesterday he was throwing pitching off flat grounds,
so he's still keeping the arm moving, but the pitching
has been paused at least for the next two to
three weeks, So.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Dave, to build off that last one. Then, before we
let you go, do you think that changes anything at
the trade deadline? We were talking about it last hour.
If if we don't, if Glass now is only throwing
fastballs and we don't know when Otani's coming back, and
like you said, Dave said, it's day to day or
not day to day. It's indefinite right now.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Yeah, I think Philla had a great well. He had
a pretty good start in Tacoma. So you got Lill
too high, Yeah, you got You got Yamamode Win Snell,
the one two combination that got you to the world
last year. And Dan You're going to bake in and Otani.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
I feel like that's where this is going.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
They're going to be extra cautious with Otani's left knee
on the pitching side, so he's ready to pitch in October.

Speaker 5 (25:13):
So you don't think it changes anything at the deadline
that they're not going to go big games.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
I don't think it does because also the Dodgers, Brandon
Gohames and Andrew Friedman saw you can win a World
Series multiple ways with a pitching staff that had to
rely on the bullpen in twenty four. So they're confident
that with this bullpen they can do that.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
That Towny Goames knows that you don't have to go
to the fancy IVY League university to pull one of
those chicks out of a local bar. All right, Dave, Okay,
great night out there in Philly, and we love you.
A good job out there and we'll stay close to
you during your epic trip to the east.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
Mare there be no rain tomorrow, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Well, I've already been told by a Andrew Scout, I
got a dinner spot for you.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Oh boy, yeah said last time. That's what you said
last time. We'll be back with mar and money. We'll
have a flip top story of the day in an
epic hellenic style, and then we'll be done.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
This is Petro on Demand, Show some money. One last segment,
and remember we have bonus podcast content, an extra segment
waiting for you via podcast. Because we have but a
two hour show today, perhaps only a ninety minute show tomorrow.
There is rain in the forecast. We will keep an
eye on it and keep you abreast of what is happening.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
We've handled in with a lot of maturity.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
I think so, I think so. And we got all
freaked out the last time around they moved our show
and then had no show because it didn't rain, and
that sort of thing. I gonna hold, gonna hold right now,
it's gonna hold steady hold. Keep an eye on the Twitter,
keep an eye on the Instagram. We'll let you know
what it looks like tomorrow, but plan for one until

(27:09):
two thirty. It is a modello meet you a lot
on Monday. We got one more segment left before we
pass it along to Dodgers on deck with Tim Katson
Devin MESSI all right.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Matt, well, I guess to just call this the flip
top story.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Yeah, I will look you out.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
This is the flip top story of the day. USC
Football Center. I mean, what a shock, right. The more
things change, the more they remain the same. USC Football
sent a stupid tweet to promote themselves well, and we
need to discuss it. Sadly, they are trying to attach

(27:45):
themselves to the film The Odyssey.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
As they should. Right, it makes so much as they
if he should.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Yeah, they write at USC Athletics, our Odyssey begins August
twenty nine, which is I believe you aren't doing that
game on the radio, Matt, usc Santase state, Yes, I am.
I just saw coach ken Na Matalolo who asked me
to tell my guys to take it easy on them

(28:14):
in Las Vegas.

Speaker 5 (28:15):
Well, you better get that message to it.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
And I said, my guys, who's your boy is dying?
My boy?

Speaker 5 (28:22):
Coach? Might I put together an angry reggae soundtrack for
you guys to get them motivated to.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Beat my guys there. You know what, maybe if they
gone away from brother Is, I mean, you were just
in Hawaii and embraced you know, the Sizzla or somebody
more militant. Yeah, we'd have a better chance against USC.
And who's to say, who's to say the game must
be played? But USC football sent a dumb tweet and
they connected themselves to the movie The Odyssey for that.

(28:49):
And I don't expect everybody to know this, but The
Odyssey is a Homeric work of poetry that is a
traditionally green that is thousands of years old, predates the Bible,
and it's about the journey home after the Trojan War.
If you're talking about the Trojan.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
War, how did that end?

Speaker 4 (29:10):
Well, we're going to discuse we're talking you're talking about
the Iliad. Now did the Trojan War happen? People are
pretty sure that it did. And Troy after the Trojan
War no longer existed. So who fought in the who
fought in the Trojan War? Greece wasn't really a place.

(29:34):
Greece is just made up of a bunch of different cities,
and they all had their own different little identities city states. Right,
they all went to this one other big ass city, Troy,
which was across the way in like modern day Turkey,
Asia Minor and twenty nine to one hundred, not just Spartans, Matt.
Twenty nine to one and sixty four cities, regions or

(29:56):
islands rolled over to Troy to kick ass for ten
years in the war. You got your guys from Salamis.
That's Ajax's crew. You got Nestor the Wise with the Pylos, Fifthia,
it Achilles, your guy Sparta minilaus Is, the Spartan king

(30:20):
who was married to that whore Helen. You hell, she's
a whore. She left Minilais for Paris. The prince of
Troy Minelaius called his brother, the Supreme Agamemnon, the leader
of Mycenae, and they were like, hey, we're all going
to get my girl back.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
Now.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
Why did everybody have to go. I'm not really sure, Matt,
but they did. A thousand ships rolled over there and
they fought for ten years.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
A quick hop, skip in a jump.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
The Odyssey is named after Odi Says or Odysseus as
some say, but Odissayus or Odessa was of course from Ithaca.
And the Odyssey is not about the Trojan War. The
Illiad is. The Odyssey is about Odisayas's journey home, which

(31:12):
took a long time because he was well. He was
hypnotized by a hooker and had sex with her for
a few years.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
You know, you can get sidetracked.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
He foughtock cyclops. There's a big storm round a Mulfi coast.
Other than being stupid, Matt, why would us he try
to attach themselves to the Odyssey when the Trojan War
destroyed Troy. I don't know. After the Trojan After the

(31:43):
Trojan War, Troy, Troy no longer existed.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
It feels kind of like that now, doesn't it.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
The men were all killed, and the women and children
were enslaved, and the rubble was reinhabited by other people's there.
You can't have an Odyssey start if you're USC and
the Trojans. After the Iliad you've been slave or enslaved

(32:15):
or raped or both.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
Take your pick.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
Why would USC attach themselves to complete devastation? You know,
it's one thing to be like, yeah, you know, this
is a reimagined version of Vertigo with Jimmy Stewart. I
mean that's even a travesty, right, oh ah, like you

(32:40):
know that's a travesty.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
Listen, they scratch you a check for five hundred bucks
for putting out that tweet. It sounds like it's worth it, right.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
You cannot rewind right the iambic pentameter of Homer. And
don't don't get me started about the the new movie.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
I got my thoughts for tomorrow night. I hope we
don't have the rain deler I'm planning on going at
six pm.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
You know, it just wasn't enough telemachus for me.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
Listen, the kid had a rough go okay, you know
it's not just you know.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Is it too much to ask Matt the University of
Southern California that has a classics department to have some
rudimentary understanding of what happened to Troy?

Speaker 5 (33:22):
I mean, I think the answer to that is an
unequivocal yes, it is too much for you to ask.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
I guess you're right, and the more things change, the
more they remain the same. But if you're usc, you
might not want to concentrate too much on the Trojan War.
I mean, you fall for the ultimate triple reverse trick
play with the Trojan Horse.

Speaker 5 (33:48):
What do you call that play? We call it the
Trojan Horse?

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Is that right?

Speaker 5 (33:51):
Son of a bitch?

Speaker 4 (33:54):
Wait a minute, why is that horse is under belly
opening up and a bunch of dudes are climbing down
a rope. Oh my god, they're opening our giant door
that hasn't been opened for you. So anyway, very upsetting.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Matt.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
I found that entertaining well.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Well, and some people are like trying to get at me, like,
you know, they're just rework you know, they're rewinding the story.
Have you ever heard of reimagining something like? Yeah, no,
shut up, what's wrong?

Speaker 5 (34:21):
I feel like someone would go, hey, who's going to
tell the USC social media team that?

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Because you know they don't know no, no, I mean
they would try to go their some mental gymnastics like well,
we're playing the Spartans, so where are the children's on there? No, no,
don't do it. The men were slain, the women were
en raped and enslaved, and the children God all because

(34:47):
of that? Who helen? And what did Agamemnon get for
his hard work? Right when he got home, Matt, his
wife stabbed him right in the chest. He died, he
got more than not much freaking murder by his wife.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
See I think Anne, hey, I think Anne Hathaway is
going to be a tremendous Penelope.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
I have you Hathaway. She's getting oscar buzz I can't wait.
At least she looks like she might be.

Speaker 5 (35:13):
Greek with those eyebrows. You ain't kidding, right, all.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
Right, Well, have a great night everybody, and once again
a big thank you to the Palace Vergus Estates Fire
Department and and police department for saving my home.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
Yes, otherwise, have your first responders.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
Living with Jim Kats and the haz mat team. The
has Matt team is Rice.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
You got to get one of them halfs those American
flag hats with the red line and support your local
fire department. Dennis sure.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Trying to just get hurt, you know, I mean, it's
it's a radio show.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
And a podcast.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
Don't forget the we got the we Got the den
and alive on there on the on the iHeartRadio app.
