There's no doubt about that. All right, everybody, it is
time for the final hour fun fast. Yeah, we're three.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Fun fun facts as brought to you back in Corda
University of Irvines Masters and Coaching and Athletics Administration program.
It is a fact over five thousand coaches and administrators
have graduated from their master's program. Get all the details.
It's CUI dot edu slash coaching.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Now. I can't help but wonder how many of those administrators.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
It's been a theme today, your final our of fun fact.
A lot of whites.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
They got whites at Belgium, Matt, what do you think
they're gonna be doing right now?
Speaker 5 (04:56):
Right on Belgium.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Whites on Norway especially become darlings of the World Cup.
Little something on Norway? Did you know they are obsessed
with frozen pizza? It is the unofficial national dish. Widely
acknowledge grandiosa frozen pizza. The entire country of Norway's population
(05:20):
is smaller than Los Angeles five point six million, yet
as a nation, they consume over fifty million frozen pizzas
per year. Their go to is tomato sauce. Something they
call pizza meat, which is forty percent Norwegian beef, sixty
percent soy protein, paprika, and of course Yarlsboro cheese is
(05:44):
the this style there.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
So I got one question for you. Yeah, what do
you want on your tombstone?
Speaker 5 (05:49):
That's session? What do you want on your grandiosa?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
I want pizza meat. They'll tell me. The Red bearn
doesn't fly in in Norway. You know he does quick
gets everybody quickets. I'll make it quick.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Dodgers are fifty nine and thirty two. They're at home
tonight versus the Rockies. It's over rock Eric Lauer and
Kyle Freeland on the mountain. Kyle Freeland born the same
day the Rockies.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
We're born right here on a shadow of cord Field.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
You go ahead. If they're playing with the fourteen game
lead of the d Backs and the Dads and the
n L.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Yeah, it's crazy, you know, any think about Freeland. We
were talking about him. He was just a twenty four
year old rookie and yet here he is still with
Colorado at age thirty three. Really been a heck of
a career one team since twenty seventeen.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yes, thank you Freeland. He looked great with the flag.
Over the weekend, Freddie Freeman is going to the All
Star Game in Philly. He was on a bread show
with Massey yesterday and he talks about how excited his son,
Charlie and all his boys are to meet the player.
Speaker 6 (06:55):
So we're really into opening baseball cards now. So they
have their all three boys have their own binders. Charlie
has them by teams. He came yesterday and he started
getting the Dodger teams. I obviously he loves Show Hey,
so he's gonna get all his show Show Hay cards signed.
But I think it's Jacob Mezerowski. He's really wanting to
get his Jacob Mezerowski cards signed. So I'll try and
(07:18):
make that wish come true in a week or so.
But they're just you know, Charlie loves everything about it.
He's already talking about getting all his cards signed, getting
his hat signed. He's oh, he has his King Griffy
Junior card and he wants because last year King Griffy
signed his hat, so he wants to get his card
signed this year. So those are the kind of cool
things that I love, and it helps him come out
(07:41):
of his shell, you know, like as a nine year
old to be forced to go up to say when
n say hi, Ken, can I please get your autograph?
It's it's fun for me to see the joy in
his face to have to go up and do that
kind of stuff and him branch out and show his personality.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
So everybody's rooting for the Freemans as always. The Angels
are think with an octopus of failure. They're thirty six
and fifty five, they lost six in a row. They've
been swept by the Mariners and the Socks. Everybody, Can
I trouble you for a fo I come to Boston,
I'm here five minutes and I hear this hell everybody,
(08:17):
Can I trouble you for a fall?
Speaker 1 (08:19):
You?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
No, that's not us. The Angels are in Texas taking
on the Rangers. They're gonna get last food down there,
no doubt.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Hey dang, hey, Charlie, you see that guy over there.
That's Mike Trout who. Yeah, he's he was thought to
be the best player since Mickey Manley's right over there.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Hey he knows, Charlie knows.
Speaker 4 (08:39):
I haven't seen him in an alls play, in an
All Star game in like six years.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
That's been the league for years.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Yeah, no, no, no, you have no I'm looking right now.
He hasn't played in an All Star Game since twenty nineteen. Dad,
How the hell am I supposed to know who that
guy is?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Geographically, when Spain plays Portugal, it's much like Tim Kates
fighting with his gallbladder. It's on the inside of as
Portugal is on the inside of Spain and Spain beat
their own insides today. You like to see that, right,
You know, you don't want to be destroyed by something
inside of you. Wonder nothing. They advanced to the round
(09:15):
of eight. Ronaldo was very angry, said it was his
last World Cup and as Bob and his head around.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Obviously it's your last World Cup. Your last World Cup
should have been the last World Cup.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
The USA versus climb on.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
A rascal and streaked down the sideline to try to
chase a pass. Perhaps it was time for you to
diire a while ago.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
FIFA might allow it. You know, he's a big day.
They've made the World Cup. Perhaps they've made in roads
for him before. Things are just getting underway at Seattle.
We will count a program. But USA taking on Belgium
and ballow Going is out there.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
Yes, the appeal was made reportedly from the president to
president of FIFA, and the red card was overturned. And
now apparently the US has taken on somewhat of a
villainous I guess designation not their fault. FIFA wants to
overturn it. They want to overturn it. Yes, red card
(10:16):
in the first place, so who's.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
They should have ever had to play with them? Lack
of dudes? And then in the first place.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Exactly, somehow some team gets a benefit, another team gets destroyed.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
And hey, you guys like BUCkies, you guys like Costco,
you like the BUCkies? All right, this guy didn't do anything.
Let him play. The Lakers no moves over the weekend,
but God helped me. If they add another white guy,
I don't think we I don't think we can.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
I think the Lakers, Steve, if you're a white guy,
I don't think the Lakers can win it.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I do think the station can handle it.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
You call it Snowton.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
That's racist, all right, that is flat out racist, or
you've had I don't really, but you've been triggered by that.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
I don't like it.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
The idea three white guys as if three of your
starting five are white, all this, I can't win an
NBA championship.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
You've spent enough time on the beach to train your
skin to where you don't have to get super upset about.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
This is okay in twenty twenty six, it's okay to
just take on three starters in your lineup. Happened to
be of a lighter hue than what we normally see
in the NBA, and that now precludes them from a
chance to win a championship. We're just gonna doubt their
ability in what should be a meritocracy. Instead, judgment is applied.
(11:33):
It's unacceptable in other news. We can be quiet about this,
you know, but then we're gonna regret not standing up
for what's become a real issue. We let this thing
slide in the old us of A in twenty twenty six, Okay,
I don't like it.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Welcome back to the show.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
You've been gone for three weeks.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Like you set a table place for Jesus. You know
religious family might do that. The Calves have set an
extra spot from Brownie James at the table.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
Anytime, Lebron, listen, We're only going to carry fourteen all season.
I know that will put us at a competitive disadvantage,
but until you sign somewhere that seat right there, we're
going to pull the COVID era giant head from the
stands that we used to use and just put it
right there.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
So you know, we are so.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
What would be the correct word, We are so in
awe of you and everything you stand for that we
choose to bow in your non presence and allow you
the idea that you can always come home because this
is your life.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Matt Japanese News, The Old Black Samurai does not have
to go far. Ruey hatch Ruey Hatchamara two year, twenty
eight million dollar deal reportedly done with the Clippers, and
it does not rule out the Clippers from a sign
and trade pursuit of former UCLA standout and nugget restricted
free A defenseman Peyton Watson.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
As we mentioned, a lot of Laker fans upset that
they thought Rory was going to be priced out of
what the Lakers could afford, and instead they paid the
Russian guy Mamu more money than Rui got market and
he's white and Ruey is not.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
And you know what, DeMar DeRozan's black, but he's not
going to be on the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
No, they are going to wave de Rosan. He had
a partial guarantee on his contract. Sacramento worked on his
release so he can find a new home. Many believe
that DeRozan may be interested in returning to Toronto to
pair with Kawhi Leonard, where he spent the majority of
his career in Toronto as a raptor, and that that makes.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
The most sense.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
But some believe that all the contenders will be interested
in his services. Certainly the Lakers Clippers included in that
as well.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
We'll be back with David Vasse, another person who has
been called the worst, much like h He will join
us next on m five seventy l A Sports on
this beautiful American day.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
This is petro Send money on demand, Demand demand back
to Michelada Monday's on the Petrosin Money Show.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
It's not a real chela if it's not.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
Made with Medello Medello especial rude with the highest quality ingredients,
fresh taste, that's pure gold.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
That's sure.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Somebody hand five seventy l A Sports Live everywhere on
the iHeartRadio and remember World Cup on our sister station
and eleven fifty USA Belgium. We however, have Dodger Baseball
tonight against the Rockies. No rest for the busy Dodgers
that have and no days off and will work their
way straight until the All Star break. They'll get that
(15:04):
day off on Thursday. But the Rockies in town tonight,
fresh off them taking three out of four from the
padres peak.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
And we'll be at Dodger Stadium tomorrow with Mookie Bets
and some say Dalton rushing. Of course it might end
up being Will Climb and then Will Smith, but we
will be there at Dodger Stadium for a live show
with a Dodger. Make no mistake about that.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
Which Dodger tune in tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Mookie Betts and whoever it is. David Vasse will say
they fell in our lap.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Is us with an inside look at the Dodgers. This
is the Vass Report with David Basse.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
David Vassey weeping and moaning and gnashing of the teeth
on the show before ours, but not us. We have
a lot of love and appreciation for our guests, even
if they're closeted lebron fans. It's David Basse with the Dodgers,
Dodgers Bacon the Rockies tonight on a Modello meet a
Lot on Monday. Dave, of course is brought to you
(16:05):
by Downy Hyundai Spectrum Sports Net, and he's an all star.
The Dodgers have many all stars. Everybody's happy, there's some
huge lead and David Vassy is just skating around like
one of the Peanuts characters on a beautiful ice. Am
I wrong? Dave?
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Uh sure? Yeah? Yeah, great? Great painting of the picture there, Petros.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Less than enthusiastic, complete jerk, right.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I mean you guys are all fresh and fired up
after a four day weekend. I mean some of us
actually had a great time at Dodger Stadium for all
four games of the Dodgers and Padres I want to
show up off the beach and Mookie Beds falls in
your last The next.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Day, I retweeted. I retweeted that you were gonna have
Tommy Edmonds on I did you know? I did my
due diligence. I've been attention. I've through a couple of instagrams.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
You reuning the clock on the weekend. Is that your
your way of punching the clock?
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Quite literally? Like talk hit the tile. Hit the tile
like Matt says, I hit the tile. We retweeted a
couple of things, Dave. You know I'm working hard.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
How much how much grease from the burger on your thumb?
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Did?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Did it get on your phone when you retweeted it?
Speaker 3 (17:13):
I did? Have it? Won too many burgers that well?
You know this one party had an in and out truck.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
What are you gonna do? You know they paid for it,
and then they brought the.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Box like there's a bunch of extra burgers.
Speaker 4 (17:24):
Anybody wants someone like, Oh, well, I'm not going to
get him to the hobos, so I'm gonna eat them.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
So, Dave, how was your week?
Speaker 2 (17:33):
It was actually great. It was electric here at Dodgers Stadium.
Always an event these days at Dodgers Stadium, and today's
no different. It's Freddie Freeman eighteen inning walk off bobblehead night.
We got Kyle Carros, the newest Dodger killer in town.
He has three home runs in his career against his
dad's old team. Maxi Munsey is just two home runs
(17:55):
away from passing his dad for the most home runs
at Dodger Stadium. So that's as well. So we got
we got a lot going on here.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
I know David was very sad but celebratory atmosphere out there,
And of course it's a story that you know, has
made national news. But I would imagine kind of nice
to see the way the Dodger fans welcome Alfonso out
there in what had to be a pretty darn emotional moment.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Yeah. I give the Dodger fans a lot of credit
for being aware of the circumstance. This is a guy that,
you know, making his major league debut, not a heralded rookie,
and the Dodger fans that were here yesterday in his
first act back, gave him a standing ovation that bled
into the first pitch that he saw. So that was
really impressive and it contradicts everybody believing Dodger fans are
(18:43):
not the best fans in the game. If this was
Saint Louis, everybody be praising the fan base for like
a week.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
God, Dodger fans really.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Showed who they really are. There's two people staring at me,
not happy about me doing this show right now.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Why, Hey, you.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Gotta were Radio magic anyw we're in the stadium. That's
what happens, is it Bob garn No, no, it's not
Bob Gharen.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Okay, well it's not Bob Garrett. He looks pretty mean, Dave.
You know, we're back at work today, so we did
play Freddy Freeman audio from your interview yesterday, and it's
very great. It's very nice that his boys are bringing
their baseball cards to the All Star Game. Talk about
just Freddy's overall perspective since he arrived at the Dodgers.
(19:26):
And I remember Clayton Kershaw having to admonishing him, tell
him to stop crying over Atlanta. And I mean, you
think about that, Bob al ed that's coming out tonight,
in the moments he's had and the championships and the
leader he's been on this team. I mean, he's been
way way even better than advertised. What a star.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Yeah, that's not who he was with the Braids, is
my understanding, Petros. He wasn't a guy that was a
team leader. But he really grew into that in the
second chapter of his career with the Dodgers. And you're
right when he went back to Atlanta, it did close
that chapter on his career. And you know a lot
of guys on the team at that time were looking
(20:04):
at him sideways, like, hey, you know, now you're a Dodger.
So I think he understood that and he understood where
he was and ever since then he really has embraced
not only his teammates and the uniform, but also the
city and the fans, and the fans have done the
same to him. And look, his first couple of years
with the Dodgers, they were disappointing exits in twenty two
(20:26):
and twenty three. But when you have a moment like
he did in the twenty four World Series, and then
you follow it up with what he did in last
year's World Series, those are two moments, especially the Grand
Slam in Game one of twenty four, that will live
on not only in Dodger history, but in baseball history.
And those are two moments in his career that he's
(20:49):
wearing a Dodger uniform. And that's why even on the
NBC broadcast yesterday, Anthony Rizzo and Andrew Jones, who know
him really well, played against him, played with him for
a long time, conceited. It's going to be a tough
call to see which hat Freddie Freeman wears into the
Hall of Fame because of winning back to back championships
having those two signature moments. So yeah, he has become
(21:14):
a team leader. You saw that on full display on
the last road trip when he was trying to coach
up Dalton Rushing. And that's not just for the cameras.
That's who he has been behind the scenes for the
last three years.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
When they go back to back to back, it'll be
a no brainer that he goes in with the La
cap on that glorious.
Speaker 5 (21:32):
Head of his.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Dave, he is an All Star again. He deserves to
be an All Star. Kind of your we we've talked
about it, Rableski. You could argue as a snub pa
has ends up getting in. Do you like the way
the All Star team is constructed with kind with the
more stars of the game as opposed to who had
a really good first half?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Do and look, I actually feel like p Crow Armstrong
and James Woods were kind of a James Wood was
really kind of Wally pipped in the All Star voting.
I felt like those two guys were deserving to be starters.
But so as Andy Paie has, there was a lot
of good players in the National League because it is
the more dominant league this year, So I'm a big proponent.
(22:17):
You know, you can make an argument for matt Olsen,
But is matt Olsen going to move the needle nationally
for the game the way Freddie Freeman will. I don't
think so. So I just am a big proponent of
guys that embrace being an All Star and aren't just there,
you know, going through the motions.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
David Vase never goes through the motions. He'll be on
Morongo Casino, Dodgers on deck with Tim Kats in about
thirty minutes. He is not paying attention to the World Cup.
He only cares about baseball, his job.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
I had somebody text me today if they're going to
be showing the USA game in the stadium club, if
they're opening the gates early just so fans can get
to get into the stadium club to watch the game.
This is Dodger Stadium. People are here to watch the Dodgers.
If you want to watch the USA soccer team, go
to Legends in Long Beach.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
You are so off basic.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Legends and Long Beach. You better pay your bill.
Speaker 5 (23:11):
You are so off on this.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Why would you come to a Dodger game to watch
the USA game on TV?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Because the game will be over when first pitch hits
at seven o'clock. The game will be over by seven,
So why wouldn't you open it up so people can watch?
Speaker 3 (23:25):
What about batting practice, Matt?
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Yeah, this is not a watch party place for soccer?
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Dave? What about Uh? Should they skip Otani's bicep start
for his bicep here?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
I believe they should, But you know, Otani has a
big voice in all this, and he obviously feels good
enough to go on Friday. Maybe that changes between now
and then, but as of now, he is going to start.
And look, I proposed this last night on Dodger Talk
that the Dodgers can manage Otani's workload by not having
(24:03):
him shut down as a pitcher and not just pitching
once every ten days. You could manage it the way
you managed it last year to ramp up for the postseason,
shortening his starts four or five innings, especially if it's
becoming very evident that Misarowski or Christopher Sanchez are going
to win the cy Young Awards. So if that's clearly
(24:24):
out of contention, I see no reason why as you
get into the dog days of August that you scale
back and shorten some of these starts that he's making
once a week, because if you start to if you
start to make it once every ten days, then you're
starting to mess with everybody else in the rotation, and
that's not good for anybody involved.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
I'm stealing this from I think it was Ken Rosenthal
that wrote it. I read earlier today, Dave about how
the Dodgers are masked.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
You're reading it on the beach.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
I was not.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
I was reading it in my home. It's very hard
with the reflection of the sun to read things on
the now. Let if I had a nice paper then
maybe I could, But this was in my house, Dave.
He said, the Dodgers, he could envision if everyone gets
healthy and they feel good about their rotation, they could
like do a hell of a flip with lower that
he could be a valuable commodity at the trade deadline
(25:14):
with other guys coming back. Could you see it shifting
that much where they picked them up for a SACA
baseballs and could actually get something viable at the deadline
like they did with Dustin May.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
He really good, Matt. They turned Dustin May five starts
in Boston into James Tibbs and zach Arhardt I could
see that, especially when you're starting to hear how many
teams are still in contention, and there won't be that
many sellers. The Dodgers have excess outfielders, they have excess pitchers,
and when you do get snelled back and glass now
(25:46):
they are hopeful that'll happen before September. You're starting to
get too many pitchers here, and yeah, Lower could fit
in your bult, but if you can flip Lower into
some prospect equity makes a lot of sense to me.
And he's pitched really well since coming to the Dodgers,
and tonight he's starting. I could see all those guys
(26:08):
on the table, guys like Rever, Ryan, Eric Lower, Emig Sheean.
If the right deal came.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
Along, the great David Vassy. We'll see him tomorrow when
our lap will be full, David Vassa will walk in.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
I feel like on days like that you barely acknowledge
that you got bigger than enough.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
I mean, come on, I'll wave.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
To you, you know from Afar when Mookie's on your lap.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
You know what, don't be that way, Dave.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
He's worked too hard. He was working all weekend and
he's just taking it out on us. We don't set
the schedule.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
I know you went to Minnesota, but you know, you
know it's not our fault.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah, just getting ready for those three All Star break shows.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yeah, those are gonna be good. I'll throw it right
to you. We'll be bad.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
I forget, don't forget Off Day Dodger Talk this Thursday.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Either to you there too. Somebody better call Ethier nobody.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
Mookie Betts is not coming in studio on Off Day
Dodger Talk. Breaking news.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Well, you know what, you can play a replay of
our interview with him tomorrow or what it ends up
being Will climb Uh. Thank you, David. We'll see you tomorrow,
David Mass everybody, and we'll be back with the dead

not watching soccer.
Speaker 1 (27:31):

(28:55):
to six pm.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Looking forward to it, Matt, and we hope that you
are there as well with your friends and family. You
the loyal listener of the Petrosen Money Show North San
Diego County, Orange County, Gateway City's La County. Some of
you riverside types saw it will take you off. We
(29:18):
already hit sand Berduke. All right, Matt for your dead
guy birthday of the day. Today we have Australia News.
You know, it's Kip and this is Petro's and Money's
Australian News. Hey. You know, Matt, being good looking is
(29:40):
a relative term, and when you look back one hundred years,
you know, yeah, there are different conventions. I mean, like,
if you tried to parade a chick with a gigantic,
bulbousy ass like that looks super like Kim Kardashian in
(30:01):
front of people thirty forty years ago, it ain't it
ain't working.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
They're like, what's up with that chick's big ass?
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Right? Yeah? Wow? Why does she look so weird? But
at the same time, about one hundred years ago, what
was considered attractive is no longer the case, Matt.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Is that like mustached faces?
Speaker 3 (30:25):
No? No, This lady Annette Kellerman one hundred and forty
years old today from Merrickville, New South Wales. Her parents
were both musicians. At six years old, like so many,
I believe this was your story, Matt. Due to leg weakness,
(30:46):
she wore braces.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yeah, we couldn't afford them. Had I been able to
wear the braces. Who knows what would have been.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Well, I thought you were able to sprint out of them. Eventually,
like Forrest Gub, her parents along with the braces to
strengthen her leg through her in the pool, and by
the time she was fifteen she corrected her legs and
was an exceptional swimmer. And then she became a show diver,
(31:12):
and she became one of the great aquatic women in
the whole continent of Australia, except for Beatrice curR Well,
who was a Melbourne aquatic performer who would challenge her
all the time, like hey, we'll swim, I'll swim you down.
And Annette did not want to smoke from Beatrice Curve.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
Nobody wants to smoke from Bee Well.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
She didn't. But all in all, she performed in a
live aquatic show on Broadway. She performed a water ballet
and a glass tank at the New York City Hippodrome
in nineteen seventeen. This chick swam so hardcore and revealed
so much of her body when she swam. It was
(31:58):
a huge deal. You know, there's been a lot of
one piece talk around here, not the one piece that
most people think it is. When we were talking about it,
but when it comes to this chick, it is the
one piece that we're talking about, the one piece bathing suit,
which was seen as extremely risque and revealing, and she
advocated Matt for the one piece, and much like Kim Kardashian,
(32:22):
came out.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
With her own swim line.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
In nineteen sixteen, she became the first woman actress ever
to perform a scene fully nude. Fully nude Daughter of
the Gods, also the first million dollar film project of
all time. No copies exist of the movie and it
(32:45):
is now considered a lost film, which is why I'm
playing some talkies. Matt just Cherulam. Most of her films,
like our Show, have the theme of aquatic adventure mermaids. Matt.
She was the very first on screen mermaid. A lot
of people think it was Daryl Hannah. It was not.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
She a publicly beat her. She barely got it is.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
I still got. About seventy years old, she published self
help books health books, was considered super hot, lifelong vegetarian,
married an American guy named James Sullivan in Connecticut.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
Oh Sully.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
She lived in Long Beach, California, had a health food
store in Long Beach, right before the end of her life,
about five years before she moved back to Australia and
died in nineteen seventy five at the age of eighty nine.
Not a skinny chick, but not a fat chick. But
I would not say like, wow, let me see that
(33:43):
chick naked, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Yes, But back then I'm looking at her. I mean
I think she's you know, you set it up. I
thought she was going to be homely, no, no, and
she's you know.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Well, but this was We're talking about sex Icon Global
aroun one hundred years go and that Kellerman. Now you're like, well,
I guess you know, she's in black and white, which
is kind of weird. But I wouldn't kick her out
of bed. But you know, yeah, even though she looks
kind of like the guy in the AHA video good
looking guy, well yeah, but he's all sketchy, that Kellerman.
(34:19):
Everybody an aquatic princess who may just pop out of
the water and flip mat over on his surfboard one day.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
I can only hope I would welcome that your live guy.
He is you do Aussie, I do British news.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
It's time for pms British News, United Kingdom, English News.
It's time for British News. Cheerio, get the hell out
of Mexico.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
If I were you guys, seems like they're doing okay.
I've seen video, Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
I mean it was okay after the game, but the
bitterness is gonna everybody's posting the pictures of Snoopy all
said with his Mexico.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
Jersey on, I feel like you're in more danger in
Santa Ana.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Right, that's true too. Hey, a high spirited Hi Spirits
Spirits guy's blowing his hands off and they're flipping a
car high Spirits quickly.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
All three of these dudes were born on the same day,
and they all turn eighty today, number forty three.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
GW.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Bush, former President, dear friend of the show, Fred Dreyer
and sly Stallone all eighty.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
Years old today.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
But we're going British News and that means a happy
sixty eighth to Dame Saunders. Jennifer Saunders. There was a
moment when Absolutely Fabulous was the biggest British import going
and it damn near took over the States. But I
guess our comedy was not refined enough to comprehend it.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
Born in Lincolnshire, England.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Comprehended a bunch of two menopausal drunk chicks. Yes, pretty
hard to wrap your brain, but it did.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
Was give birth to sex and the City. Basically Oh.
Born in Lincolnshire, England. I grew up on the move.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
I ab fab any day Geez.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Her dad was serving in the Royal Air Force. Said
it was painting the ass, but it helped her in
the long term, as all the different types of people
she met around the world would later influence the quirky
personalities she created.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
On the screen.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
She went to the Central School of Speech and Drama
in London. The schooling was a big deal, but bigger
still was meeting her friend Dawn French. Together they formed
the comedy duo French and Saunders, and their sketch comedy
took off across the entire UK, turned them into household names.
(36:32):
Kind of created a new style of two person female
sketch comedy in the process, and that gave her the
door at a production house for her creation. It was
Saunders that created Absolutely Fabulous. She became a Dina Monsoon
that became the character recognized around the world. Created, wrote,
starred in the series fashion obsessed public relations exec who
(36:56):
chases every trend and creates a mess along the way.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
Kind of the.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Sort of the Larry David Curb Your Enthusiasm. Uncomfortable situational
comedy is what a lot of it was. She created
the famous character Patsy Stone, her running mate.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
There.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
She built basically as they call it, ab fab into
at the time, one of the most iconic television properties.
It was the biggest show in the UK and became
an international kit won a ton awards of awards. I
should say she still does British TV a little bit
over here. She did a couple episodes of Friends Roseanne,
but that didn't really catch on. Did some voiceovers minions sing.
(37:39):
She's married to another comedy powerhouse but UK. I'm not
familiar with Adrian Edmondson, but I guess they're a real.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
Power couple over there.
Speaker 4 (37:47):
He is brilliant with those cheeky British comic types.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
As they should.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
She was awarded an OBE, so she is Dame Jennifer
Saunders and still considered one of the great comedy writers
and performers of the last forty years in the UK.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
The Movie's pretty funny.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Yeah, ended up getting the film, and it still pulls
in audiences, you know, kind of like a lot of
those older shows, you know, Friend's Office, all that sort
of stuff that came alive again when Hulu added Absolutely Fabulous.
It kind of took off again with the younger generation.
So check that out on the Hulu if you got it.
She's sixty eight today, Dame Jennifer Saunders.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
And now it is time for Dodger Baseball. The Rockies
are intel. It's always exciting. It's a Kyle Karro. Come
on Freeland, Kyle Freeland. Freeland's not pitching, is he?
Speaker 5 (38:48):
He is? Not tonight, but all night. I was on
the mountain night tonight.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Yeah, it was earlier. Got that.
Speaker 5 (38:56):
I thought it was the other guy.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
No, it's my fault. I'm the one that asked the question.
I should now don't ask a question if you don't
know the answer. We'll be back tomorrow at three. Good night, everybody,
