five seventy LA sports Monster moved today by the Rams.
Happened this morning. They wanted Miles Garrett for a while
and they got him. And somebody who was on the
inside always knows what's going on. Vinnie bon signor of
the Post joins us, all right, were you surprised, I'm.

Surprised if they were able to get it done. I'm
not absolutely not surprised that they wanted Miles Garrett. And
this kind of goes back a little ways, and it
includes Ty Simpson and getting the quarterback of the future
in tow which allowed them to be really creative and
aggressive using future assets to help the very you know,
the right now. So you know, this has been a

off season to remember for the Rams and it couldn't
have played out any better than being able to train
a first round pick for Trent mcduffee, now get their
quarterback of the future, and then use next year's first
round pick and a few others beyond that to go
get a player that apps without question, the best in
the business at what he does.

Uh.

And somebody that that that brings in a closer one
of the ultimate closers, defensive closers in the NFL to
really help the right now and put the Rams in
a great position to h to be Super Bowl contenders
this year and next year and really for the next
few years.

Got to tell you, if you're the Browns, you get
the picks and you get Verse, and I think that
guy is going to be a superstar. So they didn't
come out of this badly. I mean the Rams had
to give to get Vinnie.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, no question about it. I think the one thing,
the one big difference right now between you know, Verse
right now and where Garrett is right now, the Rams
desperately needed defensive closers. They felt like that was the
difference between them and the Seattle Seahawks last year. And
when you remember, when you think about it, their failure
to close out games, to get a key sack, a

key you know, disrupt the quarterback when they absolutely had
to have it, or a key stop was what prevented
them from beating the Seattle Seahawks the last couple of games,
you know, late in the season and in the NFC
Championship Game, and denied them the Super Bowl. They weren't
gonna they weren't gonna sit on their hands and not
do something about that, and and so verse. As good
as he is at twenty five years old, as good
(02:15):
as he's been, as good as he potentially can be,
there was a little bit of, hey, there's a lot
there's good plays, but then there's times where you're you're
you kind of go a well a little bit uh.
And they needed to get that six. They needed a
more consistent player right now for what they're trying to
do right now. And it doesn't get any better than
Miles Garrett. Yes, it's a steep price to pay in

the draft picks and the potential of of Jared Versu
who's played well, uh, you know uh in his first
few years. But this is this is one you cannot
say no to, and that's why they were aggressive in
making it happen. And obviously from the Browns perspective, you know,
you're in rebuild mode. Let's face that they don't have
their quarterback of the future in place. This helps them

really low it up in terms of the draft assets
that it might take to whether it's to trade up
or to have those draft picks to be able to
do to a quarterback and a lot of other needs
that they have on this roster.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Vinnie bon signors with us. I look at what the
Rams did. They already acknowledges having the best roster in
the league. That's we can agree on, right yep, Okay,
you look at what they do, Vinnie, They just reload.
I remember some years back, Kevin Demoff sent out an
email saying, you know, they go through some stuff here
(03:29):
and you know, bear with us, and then they had
a great year. What is it about these guys that
they can just reload all the time.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Well, there's a guy by the name of Lessening. Then
he has a really strong support staff and Sean McVay
as well, because Sean has a big seat at the
at the draft table. But they reload because they draft
really well. And then on top of that, they have
a just a great coaching staff and have had a
great coaching staff that then develops that that young talent.
(03:59):
So when you're able to find talent, and let's face it,
the Rams haven't needed to use the first round a
lot in a lot of cases to get their talent.
A lot of their best players are are outside of.

When you're able to draft at that level. It makes
reloading that much easier. It makes it makes having to
sometimes reluctantly say goodbye to uh to valued members of
the organization, players in the organization because of you know,
the salary cap, knowing that we can soften the blow
here because we've we've drafted a guy right behind you
(04:33):
that's going to replace you at a at a at
a far you know, less prohibitive costs. So it's draft
and development. I know it's a cliche, but that's that
is what it is. It's just great I for talent
throughout the draft, well outside the first round, and then
developing that that that that talent and obviously having a
great quarterback like Matthew Stafford, having other great players and

a great coach like Sean McVay certainly helps. But that's
the core part of it is is there draft and
development and ability.

So after they took Simpson during the draft and people
questioned what are you doing? Then, of course everybody found
out that it wasn't that big of a surprise because
the Rams had already met with him UH and that
was the guy they identified. What isn't now THENNY? I
mean they seem like they they're in pretty good shape.
What do they need another receiver? Do they need anything?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, maybe maybe another wide receiver, though they're eventually going
to have to replace you know, Devonte Adams, and you
know they'll they'll use other drafts and free agency and
maybe the trade a tool to to go get that.
But but I can't stress enough how important being able
to draft Ty Simpson was this year to this First
of all, as we've talked about plenty of times, they
(05:46):
don't draft him unless they evaluated him in a way
that said to them, we feel like he could be
a franchise caliberard quarterback, somebody that we could recalibrate around
and with at an extremely high level. And all they
had to do was use the thirteenth pick. Overall, I
know that sounds like a lot, but think about what
it cost them to get Jared Goff, what they had
to trade up to go what they had to what
(06:08):
they needed to trade to go to the first to
get the first pick of the draft in twenty sixteen.
Now think about what it costs to go get Matthew
Stafford first round picks one hundred million dollars Jared Goff.
A lot of assets were needed to go get both
of those quarterbacks. In Tysonson's case, it was just one pick,
a first round pick that they got in a trade
with the Atlanta Falcons. So getting that quarterback in place
(06:32):
that they believed can can keep this train rolling now
allowed them and freed up future draft picks to devote
to other parts of the draft. They don't have to
use next year's d after the draft after that to
go get their quarterback they believe they found and already
have that quarterback, so now they can use other all
the rest of their assets to just rebuilding that rosters
(06:53):
as you talked about. So in that respect, they're going
to be in a healthy place to be able to
go find a wide receiver. And look at when you
think about where the Raider where the Rams that you
say have found their wide receivers, whether it's Cooper Cup
or you know, Pukaikua last I checked, neither one of
those guys were first round picks. So they find them
(07:16):
somewhere along the line, or they'll use a HI draft
pick to go trade for one, as they did with
Brandon back in the day. So I think they feel
good about we'll find our wide receiver that that we're
eventually going to need, but right now, it is more
about difference makers on defense. And that's what McDuffie is,
and that's what Jalen Watson is, and that's absolutely, without question,
(07:36):
what Miles Garrett is. And tell you what the happiest
guy has got to be among others, Trent McDuffie think
about from his vantage point now playing cornerback and the
chances that he could take knowing that you've got you've
got the most premier, you know, pass rusher in the
game on your side. Now, this is a guy that's
coming off twenty three sacks last year. Twenty three sacks.
(07:58):
It's a record breaking amount amount of sacks. He's got
one hundred and twenty two zero point five in his
nine years. And that doesn't even get into the quarterback hit,
the quarterback pressures, all the attention that it takes to
stop him freeing up other players. And the Rams absolutely
have other players on the defensive line. So this is
just a game changer for them on a team bet
(08:19):
already had the best roster in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, I think he averaged like fourteen sacks a year.
That's incredible, an average fourteen sacks a year. And when
you look at this deal, because everybody hands out grades.
I was looking at the athletics grades for this deal.
They gave the Rams an A plus. You know what,
they gave the Browns an A plus. It's one of
those deals many that works for.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Both, no question about it. And it fits everybody's timeline.
It fits Miles Garrett's timeline. This is a player that
Los Angeles is gonna love. I'm just telling you right now.
He is a gentleman. He's a great player. He's a
hard worker, he's a leader, he wants it. He's a
great player. He makes he makes impact plays the field
(09:00):
in your direction. Uh you know, yeah, Yeah, he's thirty
years old, but he always takes care of himself. He
doesn't have a whole lot of you know, big time
injuries to speak of, so and this has got to
rejuvenate him. Think about, you know, the misery that he's
gone through in Cleveland. You know, no no dig at
(09:20):
Cleveland or the Browns. They tried. But imagine the rejuvenation
of him going to the Rams and everything Los Angeles
has to offer, and everything the Rams, all the possibilities
that the Rams offer to be able to close out
your career over the next however, many years playing on
championship contending teams, that does something for you and uh
and and it makes you want to stick around a

while longer.

Really appreciate it. Right, Okay, there's our buddy, Benny Bond
signor Yeah. Big day for the Rams. I was talking
about this earlier during the noon hour. They've really established
themselves now as the umber two team in LA. The
Dodgers are number one by far. They're the most dominant

brand of the marketplace. The Lakers have been living on
fumes from the past. They're the Lakers very much like
the Cowboys. The Rams now have solidified themselves. They have
built something for sustained success. That's very difficult to do.
The Dodgers do that. It's hard for teams to accomplish that.
(10:27):
But to do that you need a system and a
culture in place, and if you're in a big market,
you desperately need that. Look at the Jets in New York.
They're awful. They've been awful, They're going to be awful.
They cannot get it right. The Jets are in enormous
embarrassment to the National Football League. They cannot figure it out,
(10:49):
and you've gotta figure it out in New York. Look
at the Giants, some up, some down. They're trying again
now with John Harbaugh. That's embarrassing. That is embarrassing to
the NFL. The Bears are better now with Caleb Williams
and Ben Johnson as coach, but before that, that's embarrassing.
(11:14):
Your biggest market teams were embarrassments. That is not good
for the National Football League. And you can argue the Cowboys, well,
they're always what a day late, a step short, never quite.
That's embarrassing. Those are big market teams with high visibility.
(11:37):
And to be fair, the Rams didn't look like this
in Saint Louis. This was not the organization that produced
these kinds of teams to sustained success. But when they
got here, all bets were off. And now they have
firmly moved into the number two place in the market Dodgers,
Rams and then by default Lakers. Now that will change
(12:02):
as Lon Rosen gets in there on the business side,
and all of a sudden you see more basketball operation
people coming in since Mark Walter bought it, and they
will create that machine that will allow them to sustain success.
And for the Lakers, it won't be Well, they're the Lakers,
of course they're not gonna win because that's kind of
where it's been, right, Well we got Lebron. Yeah, no,
(12:26):
it's not gonna work. Well, we got one with Anthony Davis.
That was then, this is now. We don't live in
the past. Little market teams live in the past. They
think back, not forward. Well, we got ours, so we're
good for the next what twenty years? No, that's not
the way this works. If you're a sports fan, you

have an expectation of success every year with a successful organization.
Doesn't always happen. But you want to be in the
conversation and not in the confer like, well, you know
they're the Lakers. Okay, No, you want to be in
a conversation like they're the Lakers and they could win
this thing, so they have to retool their thinking for

the Rams. They've accomplished that goal and they're going to
be an awfully tough team to beat. Okay, we may
hear from a friend next, that's all I'll say. We
may hear from a friend, and then we'll have its.

So here's the thing, Fred, here's the thing. When I
heard that trade go down with Miles Garrett with the Rams,
I immediately had to jump up, run down to the
local high school see if I could still throw the
ball a little bit, bet, because with a deal like that,
the Rams are guaranteed and to win the Super Bowl.

So I'm trying to get that elusive Super Bowl Championship
ring that has eluded me all these years by seeing
if I could join on with the Rams and be
their emergency type quarterback. Fred That's where I.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
Was, Okay, well, good, at least we know what happened
to you. I mean I was worried.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, So I'm good I pulled my
left hand string and my right quad though, Fred, so
I might be on ir before we even start.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Well, the problem was that had nothing to do with
going to the high school. You did that when you
woke up this morning.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
You're right, you know it. You know it. When you
get to a certain age, you don't know where those
injuries come from. You walk down the street walking the dog,
getting out of bid, and you wake up and go,
where did that come from? How did I do that?
I don't even remember doing anything, and yet I'm tight
and got to get up, can't get out of bed.

All right. So overall, with this deal, though Rodney, it
really does solidify the Rams as the best team in
the league. And I was talking earlier, it just speaks
to the level of commitment, very much like the Dodgers,
a culture, an organization, and a business built for sustained success.
I think the Dodgers now the number one franchise in
the market by far. I think the Rams have now

moved into the number two spot.

What do you think, Oh, yeah, yeah, given given where
the Lakers. Obviously, brand wise, the Lakers's still there, but
in terms of relevancy, the Rams have certainly moved into
that spot. The moves that they've made. You remember, you know,
after they won the Super Bowl and let's need at
the infamous shirt fans. Well they're back at it, right,

they are back at it. And I thought it's just
a indicative of this town. How the winners in this
town operate. It is not about resting on your laurels. Look,
the Rams could have easily said, hey, we came back
to la we got to a super Bowl, win a
title in our own building. How great is that. Now

we're going to take our foot off the gas for
the next ten years. But that's not who they are,
and that's not who Stan Kronky is or or Less
Need is or even Sean McVay. They want to win
multiple Super Bowls and they're putting their money where their
mouth is and not just sitting back and going, hey,
we got one, so we're good. Like a lot of
other teams around the league, in every sport, you win

one title and all of a sudden, the team has
broken up and they don't sniff the playoffs for the
next five years. But the Rams that made a commitment,
and you have to do that in this town. And
I loved it. You know, the guy that's obviously the
most unhappy is Jared First. You know, it reminded me
Fred finding me of when the Dodgers traded the young
Miguel Vargas, right, and he had to go to the

White Sox after being with the Dodgers and being this
up and coming young star, a star for the Dodgers,
and then he gets traded to the White Sox and
there was that picture of him in the dugout of
just slumping over going how did I get here? How
did I get here? And that's going to be Jared
Burst where he's in Cleveland going I was in La
(17:26):
with the Rams with a chance to win a Super
Bowl every year. Now I'm part of a rebuilding process
in Cleveland. Oh man.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah. That one shot of Miguel Vargers sitting at the
end of the dugout looking into the empty store. There
was nobody around him, going, oh my god, what did
I do? I want to ask you about this too, well.
Dodgers in of course Arizona tonight first to four against
the Diamondbacks. I said it earlier, I'll say it again.

This means a hell of a lot more than to
the Diamondbacks. That it does to the Dodgers. But the
thing that caught my attention over the weekend and Ronnie
was very troubling Tanner Scott's white. You see death threats
on social media about their newborn after Tanner basically imploded
on Saturday night you played. Now, there wasn't social media

back then, but you heard stuff. What does that do
to somebody or their family if people are doing that
kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Yeah, it's it's very disturbing, and those things you have
to take seriously. And I'm sure that the Dodgers and
their security staff and everybody surrounding them are taking it
very seriously because when you start talking about death threats
and out of control fans. Unfortunately it does happen where
fans can go off the rail and have crazy type

of moments. But it you know, as a player, you
can handle it. As a player, you're you're you know,
some handle it better than others. But the criticism it
comes with the territory. Deal with it. But when it
starts to overflow into your family, that's that's the part
that you cannot forgive, and you cannot think like, give
(19:11):
it to me, I can take it. But when you
involve my wife, my kids. That's way way over the line.
And I do remember stories of guys that had kids
and their kids they had to pull their kids out
of school because the kids were getting harassed. It's just
the boldness of so many fans out here that believe
(19:32):
that everything starts and ends with them based on when
the lasses is number one. It's idiotic. But also on
top of that, it is it's scary to think that
those people are out there when you're playing a baseball
game and you happen to have a bad moment and
someone takes the time, takes the time out of their
(19:54):
day to threaten somebody that they do not know over
a baseball game. It's just unfortunately indigative of where we
are as a society. And I know there are those
fans are in the minority, but that shouldn't happen at all, right, No, And.

The thing about it is, and you know these guys,
and first they're pissed because I'm sure they lost money.
I'm sure that's what it was.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
It was a bet. Right.

What they don't understand is when you say something like
that about someone's family or their children, you know, well,
that guy should be able to take it. He gets
paid a lot, but his wife doesn't and his family
members don't, and they're the ones that have to sit
there and Tanner Scott. I mean, if you're Tanner Scott's
wife and you see that, you said it, you got
to take it seriously. I said, well, you're probably thinking

on the back of your mind some nut, nothing will happen.
But if you're his wife, how do you look at it?
It's very different.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah, yeah, it's different. It's scary. You know, you got kids,
you walking to the grocery store, or somebody points out,
oh that's Janner Scott's wife, and you got some guy
following her to the parking lot or doing something, yelling
at her in the aisles. You don't know what somebody
is capable of. And it's it's gey. Like I said,

I've had several teammates over the years that had to
take their kids out of school because they were getting
bullied because their dad had a bad game on Sunday.
And that's that's so uncalled for and unnecessary and no
child or no family member should have to go through
that based on wins and losses in a game. And
I know it's serious. And guys are making money and
(21:32):
it's professional. But just think about if you're a lawyer,
or you're a doctor, or you're anybody and you just
going to your job and you're getting harassed going in
and going out, and they're threatening your family members because
they don't like the outcome of a lawsuit, or you
know your your marketing company didn't do the right thing.
It's just absurd to think that people will spend time

to try to and we got a lot of obviously,
there's a lot of guys in the basement. Girls do
in the basement, and they're tough in the basement behind
a keyboard. But man, unfortunately, some of those things come
to fruition and people are really stalking some of these
people out there that are in the public eye. That's
why you have to take it seriously. But it should
(22:18):
never happen. It should never happen. A kid should be
able to go watch their dad play and hang out
and have a good time, go home, have a good
meal without looking up and going there's a thousand tweets
or a thousand messages about kill my family or your
dad should die or blah blah blah. It's just it's
so sad.

That Hammy, Man, I feel like I already played seven
games already red, but now congratulated to the Rams and
Miles Garrett. You know, you got to think about him
sitting in Cleveland for all those years and it didn't
even look like they were trying to win. And at
some point the money's great, but you want to win,
and he's gone to a great place. I mean, think

about the Rams. They would already already talked about they
already had the best roster. Now it puts it way
over the top. They got to be overwhelmingly favorite to
win the Super Bowl next year.

obviously are excited on social media, Fred, but they want more,

want to bring back one of their old favorites to
see if he wants to come back and aid in
them trying to win another championship at home. So there's
been a groundswell of support online for the Rams to

go find Miles, excuse me to go find they're a
former superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald and see if he
wants to come out of retirement to join this Rams team. Now, obviously,
I'm sure he keeps himself in great shape. Whether or
not he's in playing shape after being retired for a
few years, I don't know. But if you're the Rams,
is that a call that you're willing to throw out
there just to test the waters to see if he

wants to team up with Miles Garrett on the defensive
line there?

Fred, Well, I mean, I'm always going to pick up
the phone. What's your cost to make a call?

Make a call, say hello, do you want to play?
He'll say no, But at least you make the call.
That'd be great. I mean, then they don't even need
to play the games. Just put him in the playoffs
because that's how tough they'll be. Yeah, I think it'd
be great, coming to be honest with you, but he's
not gonna play. But why not? Hell doesn't cost anything.

I'd be interested, But I mean who wouldn't. Let's put

it a shot. But I don't see that happening.

Right, call him, especially at that position, like there was guys.
Dion Sanders retired for maybe four years before he came
back and played with Baltimore, mostly as a as a safety,
But being a defensive back and playing in the trenches
is a little bit different. So I have no doubt
that Aaron Donald could do it. But to your point,
I don't know if it's something that he'd signed up for.
But if I'm the Rams, I'm picking up the phone
and calling him. Why the hell not? Hell's Dick Jones

into the defensive.

By the way, A bit of trivia for you, Fred,

Vinny kind of alluded to this too, about you know,
the FM picks mentality and all that. So Sister Rams
moved back to Los Angeles in twenty sixteen. They have
made exactly three number one picks. They've had three first
round picks that they've actually selected. Can you name those three?
Jared Goff yep, and that's you like n name Yeah,
so Ty Simpson, we know happened this year obviously, Okay, Well,

and the other one they just shipped off to Cleveland.
Jared first three picks in ten years. That's like NBA level.
We don't see that happen in the NFL that often.
But it's a testament to your point, like you mentioned
in the opening segment of the show, to their dedication
to try to put a winning product on the field
and not necessarily try to build through youth and go
through all that situation. In a rebuilding situation, they want
to win now, and they are already at the best

roster in the NFL according to a lot of pundits,
and now they're even better by adding the reigning Defensive
Player of the Year to go along with the reigning
league MVP in Matthew Stefan.

Yeah. But Kevin, remember this, it's not like they don't
pick anybody, but they're so prepared because organizationally they have
that structure in place. They can find guys in the fourth,
fifth round that can help them play. They don't necessarily
have to gamble everything on this one pick because they're

so good. It's scouting and making the selections that they
can get a guy late in the draft who could
be better than somebody they would have taken in the
first round. I mean, and that's just the organization. That's
kind of like the Dodger front off. They just know
what they're doing.

Couldn't have said it better myself. So the long rumored trade,
the blog Puster trade that was supposed to happen that
we were all waiting for June first, also went down,
now very blunted in the news cycle because obviously people
were floored by this Miles Garrett trade. But about an
hour or so ago, the aj Brown to the Patriot
trade was made official. They sent him to New England

for a first round pick next year and a fifth
round pick and a fifth roump excuse me, a fifth
round pick that could convert depending on how his production
level is with New England. So it's been rumored for
a while. And of course the person who started the rumors,
ironically enough, is Diana Russini, so maybe she had some
insight that other insiders didn't. But Nevertheless, Fred, the trade

is official and Drake May has his number one receiver
and A. J. Brown officially going to the Patriots today.

So she didn't break that trade today.

The treat now I don't believe. So no, okay, it's.

Probably still in sabbatical. Didn't he A Brown play for
Grabel in Tennessee?

Okay, so obviously that's somebody that he wanted, and you know,
it kind of snuck out that he wanted them, and
it makes complete sense. Here's what surprises me. If you
look at the the Hall Cleveland God for Garrett who
was arguable playing the top defensive player in the game,

at least at his position, I would have thought it
would have cost more for AJ Brown.

Well see, but this is where the headache tax comes
in because the stuff on the sideline, for lack of
a better term, I just came up with that, I
don't know. But you know, why is he being traded
from Philadelphia to begin with? Because if everything was hunky
dory and there were no issues, he'd still be there,
you know. So the fact that he's had issues on
the sideline with teammates, with coaches being a little bit
aloof at talking about his touches a lack thereof That's

the big reason why he's on the market, and I
think that's the big reason why you're not getting a
much bigger return for him. The talent is undeniable, but
he's a giant headache Miles Garrett, and you know, Vinnie
brought this up for all intensive purposes. Has been a
model citizen despite the fact that he's been playing for
a losing franchise for the past seven years or whatever
it's been.

Yeah, well, congratulations to the Patriots. A lot of people
went down in pursuit of that deal. Let's just put
it like that.

You know, there's a joke there. I'm just gonna leave
alone their friend.

Oh, you know. I saw this about the Lakers to
talk about how they can improve their roster, and by honest, honestly,
is there really anything that they can do to get
them on the Spurs level here soon? Probably not. But
there was one Western Conference executive who says the person
they should have set their sights on is Lou Dort.

Yes love Blue Dort.

Yes, so an executive to Shawn Devnie of Heavy Sports.
He said, if you're the Lakers. You want to be
front and center on a guy like lou Dort. He
can come in and change your entire perimeter defense, he says.
If they can get him, he'd be a problem. He's
a three and D guy. That takes him to another level.
The three not so much, but the defense is unquestionable.
One of the best perimeter defenders in the league. He

does have an eleven million dollars team option, which I'm
sure Oklahoma City is gonna pick up to see if
they can trade for assets. I guess the question is
what do the Lakers have that Oklahoma City would want.

Well, let me say this. I love lou Dor. Jack
played with him at Arizona State. That's right, they were boys.
Lou dor is a maniac, right. Lou Dort can't really
shoot it, Oh my god.

Oh, he will take and he does not care. That's
the other thing about lou dor He does not care.
He's not built. He's not an NFL linebacker. He's a
guarden in the NBA, but he sure plays like one.
He is disruptive. Uh, he shakes things up. I would
love to see lou Dort in the Laker uniform. That

would be fun because he doesn't care and he will
sacrifice himself. He I mean, you love that guy if
he's on your team. But then you ask the correct question,
So what do the Lakers have that they're gonna want? Nothing?
What do they have?

The Lakers have three first rounds that they can trade.

There's no way they're to stop. There's no way they're
trading a first round pick for lou Dort.

see it. Now you're gonna trade all of them? I
can see them, maybe one and maybe something else, but
I can He's definitely a guy that will instantaneously help them.
And Oklahoma City needs to get that money off their bucks.
And as good you talk about how great the Dodgers
do with scouting and how great the Rams do with scouting.
If it's a twenty fifth pick, which is I believe

what the Lakers have this year. If it's literally just
a twenty fifth pick for lou Dort, who's to say
Oklahoma City can't find the next lou Dort on a
cheaper contract, because that's just how they operate. So it
would not surprise me one bit if they were to
pull that off.

Yeah, if it's twenty young day, if it's number twenty five, yeah,
you know, and I'm thinking, no, no, the Lakers, Yeah,
they don't pick till twenty five, so yeah, that would
make sense. I would do that. Yeah, from twenty five. Yeah,
one pick and get Lou. Absolutely, because I'll tell you what,
at twenty five, the Lakers aren't gonna draft anybody as
good as Lou.

Happened this morning. They wanted Miles Garrett for a while
and they got him. And somebody who was on the
inside always knows what's going on. Vinnie bon signor of
the Post joins us, all right, were you surprised, I'm.

Surprised if they were able to get it done. I'm
not absolutely not surprised that they wanted Miles Garrett. And
this kind of goes back a little ways, and it
includes Ty Simpson and getting the quarterback of the future
in tow which allowed them to be really creative and
aggressive using future assets to help the very you know,
the right now. So you know, this has been a
(00:42):
off season to remember for the Rams and it couldn't
have played out any better than being able to train
a first round pick for Trent mcduffee, now get their
quarterback of the future, and then use next year's first
round pick and a few others beyond that to go
get a player that apps without question, the best in
the business at what he does.

And somebody that that that brings in a closer one
of the ultimate closers, defensive closers in the NFL to
really help the right now and put the Rams in
a great position to h to be Super Bowl contenders
this year and next year and really for the next
few years.

Got to tell you, if you're the Browns, you get
the picks and you get Verse, and I think that
guy is going to be a superstar. So they didn't
come out of this badly. I mean the Rams had
to give to get Vinnie.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, no question about it. I think the one thing,
the one big difference right now between you know, Verse
right now and where Garrett is right now, the Rams
desperately needed defensive closers. They felt like that was the
difference between them and the Seattle Seahawks last year. And
when you remember, when you think about it, their failure
to close out games, to get a key sack, a
(01:54):
key you know, disrupt the quarterback when they absolutely had
to have it, or a key stop was what prevented
them from beating the Seattle Seahawks the last couple of games,
you know, late in the season and in the NFC
Championship Game, and denied them the Super Bowl. They weren't
gonna they weren't gonna sit on their hands and not
do something about that, and and so verse. As good
as he is at twenty five years old, as good
(02:15):
as he's been, as good as he potentially can be,
there was a little bit of, hey, there's a lot
there's good plays, but then there's times where you're you're
you kind of go a well a little bit uh.
And they needed to get that six. They needed a
more consistent player right now for what they're trying to
do right now. And it doesn't get any better than
Miles Garrett. Yes, it's a steep price to pay in
(02:38):
the draft picks and the potential of of Jared Versu
who's played well, uh, you know uh in his first
few years. But this is this is one you cannot
say no to, and that's why they were aggressive in
making it happen. And obviously from the Browns perspective, you know,
you're in rebuild mode. Let's face that they don't have
their quarterback of the future in place. This helps them
(02:58):
really low it up in terms of the draft assets
that it might take to whether it's to trade up
or to have those draft picks to be able to
do to a quarterback and a lot of other needs
that they have on this roster.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Vinnie bon signors with us. I look at what the
Rams did. They already acknowledges having the best roster in
the league. That's we can agree on, right yep, Okay,
you look at what they do, Vinnie, They just reload.
I remember some years back, Kevin Demoff sent out an
email saying, you know, they go through some stuff here
(03:29):
and you know, bear with us, and then they had
a great year. What is it about these guys that
they can just reload all the time.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Well, there's a guy by the name of Lessening. Then
he has a really strong support staff and Sean McVay
as well, because Sean has a big seat at the
at the draft table. But they reload because they draft
really well. And then on top of that, they have
a just a great coaching staff and have had a
great coaching staff that then develops that that young talent.
(03:59):
So when you're able to find talent, and let's face it,
the Rams haven't needed to use the first round a
lot in a lot of cases to get their talent.
A lot of their best players are are outside of.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
The first round.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
When you're able to draft at that level. It makes
reloading that much easier. It makes it makes having to
sometimes reluctantly say goodbye to uh to valued members of
the organization, players in the organization because of you know,
the salary cap, knowing that we can soften the blow
here because we've we've drafted a guy right behind you
(04:33):
that's going to replace you at a at a at
a far you know, less prohibitive costs. So it's draft
and development. I know it's a cliche, but that's that
is what it is. It's just great I for talent
throughout the draft, well outside the first round, and then
developing that that that that talent and obviously having a
great quarterback like Matthew Stafford, having other great players and
(04:54):
a great coach like Sean McVay certainly helps. But that's
the core part of it is is there draft and
development and ability.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
So after they took Simpson during the draft and people
questioned what are you doing? Then, of course everybody found
out that it wasn't that big of a surprise because
the Rams had already met with him UH and that
was the guy they identified. What isn't now THENNY? I
mean they seem like they they're in pretty good shape.
What do they need another receiver? Do they need anything?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yeah, maybe maybe another wide receiver, though they're eventually going
to have to replace you know, Devonte Adams, and you
know they'll they'll use other drafts and free agency and
maybe the trade a tool to to go get that.
But but I can't stress enough how important being able
to draft Ty Simpson was this year to this First
of all, as we've talked about plenty of times, they
(05:46):
don't draft him unless they evaluated him in a way
that said to them, we feel like he could be
a franchise caliberard quarterback, somebody that we could recalibrate around
and with at an extremely high level. And all they
had to do was use the thirteenth pick. Overall, I
know that sounds like a lot, but think about what
it cost them to get Jared Goff, what they had
to trade up to go what they had to what
(06:08):
they needed to trade to go to the first to
get the first pick of the draft in twenty sixteen.
Now think about what it costs to go get Matthew
Stafford first round picks one hundred million dollars Jared Goff.
A lot of assets were needed to go get both
of those quarterbacks. In Tysonson's case, it was just one pick,
a first round pick that they got in a trade
with the Atlanta Falcons. So getting that quarterback in place
(06:32):
that they believed can can keep this train rolling now
allowed them and freed up future draft picks to devote
to other parts of the draft. They don't have to
use next year's d after the draft after that to
go get their quarterback they believe they found and already
have that quarterback, so now they can use other all
the rest of their assets to just rebuilding that rosters
(06:53):
as you talked about. So in that respect, they're going
to be in a healthy place to be able to
go find a wide receiver. And look at when you
think about where the Raider where the Rams that you
say have found their wide receivers, whether it's Cooper Cup
or you know, Pukaikua last I checked, neither one of
those guys were first round picks. So they find them
(07:16):
somewhere along the line, or they'll use a HI draft
pick to go trade for one, as they did with
Brandon back in the day. So I think they feel
good about we'll find our wide receiver that that we're
eventually going to need, but right now, it is more
about difference makers on defense. And that's what McDuffie is,
and that's what Jalen Watson is, and that's absolutely, without question,
(07:36):
what Miles Garrett is. And tell you what the happiest
guy has got to be among others, Trent McDuffie think
about from his vantage point now playing cornerback and the
chances that he could take knowing that you've got you've
got the most premier, you know, pass rusher in the
game on your side. Now, this is a guy that's
coming off twenty three sacks last year. Twenty three sacks.
(07:58):
It's a record breaking amount amount of sacks. He's got
one hundred and twenty two zero point five in his
nine years. And that doesn't even get into the quarterback hit,
the quarterback pressures, all the attention that it takes to
stop him freeing up other players. And the Rams absolutely
have other players on the defensive line. So this is
just a game changer for them on a team bet
(08:19):
already had the best roster in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Yeah, I think he averaged like fourteen sacks a year.
That's incredible, an average fourteen sacks a year. And when
you look at this deal, because everybody hands out grades.
I was looking at the athletics grades for this deal.
They gave the Rams an A plus. You know what,
they gave the Browns an A plus. It's one of
those deals many that works for.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Both, no question about it. And it fits everybody's timeline.
It fits Miles Garrett's timeline. This is a player that
Los Angeles is gonna love. I'm just telling you right now.
He is a gentleman. He's a great player. He's a
hard worker, he's a leader, he wants it. He's a
great player. He makes he makes impact plays the field
(09:00):
in your direction. Uh you know, yeah, Yeah, he's thirty
years old, but he always takes care of himself. He
doesn't have a whole lot of you know, big time
injuries to speak of, so and this has got to
rejuvenate him. Think about, you know, the misery that he's
gone through in Cleveland. You know, no no dig at
(09:20):
Cleveland or the Browns. They tried. But imagine the rejuvenation
of him going to the Rams and everything Los Angeles
has to offer, and everything the Rams, all the possibilities
that the Rams offer to be able to close out
your career over the next however, many years playing on
championship contending teams, that does something for you and uh
and and it makes you want to stick around a
(09:41):
while longer.

about this earlier during the noon hour. They've really established
themselves now as the umber two team in LA. The
Dodgers are number one by far. They're the most dominant

brand of the marketplace. The Lakers have been living on
fumes from the past. They're the Lakers very much like
the Cowboys. The Rams now have solidified themselves. They have
built something for sustained success. That's very difficult to do.
The Dodgers do that. It's hard for teams to accomplish that.

But to do that you need a system and a
culture in place, and if you're in a big market,
you desperately need that. Look at the Jets in New York.
They're awful. They've been awful, They're going to be awful.
They cannot get it right. The Jets are in enormous
embarrassment to the National Football League. They cannot figure it out,
(10:49):
and you've gotta figure it out in New York. Look
at the Giants, some up, some down. They're trying again
now with John Harbaugh. That's embarrassing. That is embarrassing to
the NFL. The Bears are better now with Caleb Williams
and Ben Johnson as coach, but before that, that's embarrassing.
(11:14):
Your biggest market teams were embarrassments. That is not good
for the National Football League. And you can argue the Cowboys, well,
they're always what a day late, a step short, never quite.
That's embarrassing. Those are big market teams with high visibility.
(11:37):
And to be fair, the Rams didn't look like this
in Saint Louis. This was not the organization that produced
these kinds of teams to sustained success. But when they
got here, all bets were off. And now they have
firmly moved into the number two place in the market Dodgers,
Rams and then by default Lakers. Now that will change
(12:02):
as Lon Rosen gets in there on the business side,
and all of a sudden you see more basketball operation
people coming in since Mark Walter bought it, and they
will create that machine that will allow them to sustain success.
And for the Lakers, it won't be Well, they're the Lakers,
of course they're not gonna win because that's kind of
where it's been, right, Well we got Lebron. Yeah, no,
(12:26):
it's not gonna work. Well, we got one with Anthony Davis.
That was then, this is now. We don't live in
the past. Little market teams live in the past. They
think back, not forward. Well, we got ours, so we're
good for the next what twenty years? No, that's not
the way this works. If you're a sports fan, you

have an expectation of success every year with a successful organization.
Doesn't always happen. But you want to be in the
conversation and not in the confer like, well, you know
they're the Lakers. Okay, No, you want to be in
a conversation like they're the Lakers and they could win
this thing, so they have to retool their thinking for

the Rams. They've accomplished that goal and they're going to
be an awfully tough team to beat. Okay, we may

heard that trade go down with Miles Garrett with the Rams,
I immediately had to jump up, run down to the

the Rams are guaranteed and to win the Super Bowl.

So I'm trying to get that elusive Super Bowl Championship
ring that has eluded me all these years by seeing
if I could join on with the Rams and be
their emergency type quarterback. Fred That's where I.

Was, Okay, well, good, at least we know what happened
to you. I mean I was worried.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, So I'm good I pulled my
left hand string and my right quad though, Fred, so
I might be on ir before we even start.

Well, the problem was that had nothing to do with
going to the high school. You did that when you
woke up this morning.

You're right, you know it. You know it. When you
get to a certain age, you don't know where those
injuries come from. You walk down the street walking the dog,
getting out of bid, and you wake up and go,
where did that come from? How did I do that?
I don't even remember doing anything, and yet I'm tight
and got to get up, can't get out of bed.

All right. So overall, with this deal, though Rodney, it
really does solidify the Rams as the best team in
the league. And I was talking earlier, it just speaks
to the level of commitment, very much like the Dodgers,
a culture, an organization, and a business built for sustained success.
I think the Dodgers now the number one franchise in
the market by far. I think the Rams have now

moved into the number two spot.

What do you think, Oh, yeah, yeah, given given where
the Lakers. Obviously, brand wise, the Lakers's still there, but
in terms of relevancy, the Rams have certainly moved into
that spot. The moves that they've made. You remember, you know,
after they won the Super Bowl and let's need at
the infamous shirt fans. Well they're back at it, right,

they are back at it. And I thought it's just
a indicative of this town. How the winners in this
town operate. It is not about resting on your laurels. Look,
the Rams could have easily said, hey, we came back
to la we got to a super Bowl, win a
title in our own building. How great is that. Now

we're going to take our foot off the gas for
the next ten years. But that's not who they are,
and that's not who Stan Kronky is or or Less
Need is or even Sean McVay. They want to win
multiple Super Bowls and they're putting their money where their
mouth is and not just sitting back and going, hey,
we got one, so we're good. Like a lot of
other teams around the league, in every sport, you win

one title and all of a sudden, the team has
broken up and they don't sniff the playoffs for the
next five years. But the Rams that made a commitment,
and you have to do that in this town. And
I loved it. You know, the guy that's obviously the
most unhappy is Jared First. You know, it reminded me
Fred finding me of when the Dodgers traded the young
Miguel Vargas, right, and he had to go to the

White Sox after being with the Dodgers and being this
up and coming young star, a star for the Dodgers,
and then he gets traded to the White Sox and
there was that picture of him in the dugout of
just slumping over going how did I get here? How
did I get here? And that's going to be Jared
Burst where he's in Cleveland going I was in La
(17:26):
with the Rams with a chance to win a Super
Bowl every year. Now I'm part of a rebuilding process
in Cleveland. Oh man.

Yeah. That one shot of Miguel Vargers sitting at the
end of the dugout looking into the empty store. There
was nobody around him, going, oh my god, what did
I do? I want to ask you about this too, well.
Dodgers in of course Arizona tonight first to four against
the Diamondbacks. I said it earlier, I'll say it again.

This means a hell of a lot more than to
the Diamondbacks. That it does to the Dodgers. But the
thing that caught my attention over the weekend and Ronnie
was very troubling Tanner Scott's white. You see death threats
on social media about their newborn after Tanner basically imploded
on Saturday night you played. Now, there wasn't social media

back then, but you heard stuff. What does that do
to somebody or their family if people are doing that
kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Yeah, it's it's very disturbing, and those things you have
to take seriously. And I'm sure that the Dodgers and
their security staff and everybody surrounding them are taking it
very seriously because when you start talking about death threats
and out of control fans. Unfortunately it does happen where
fans can go off the rail and have crazy type

of moments. But it you know, as a player, you
can handle it. As a player, you're you're you know,
some handle it better than others. But the criticism it
comes with the territory. Deal with it. But when it
starts to overflow into your family, that's that's the part
that you cannot forgive, and you cannot think like, give

it to me, I can take it. But when you
involve my wife, my kids. That's way way over the line.
And I do remember stories of guys that had kids
and their kids they had to pull their kids out
of school because the kids were getting harassed. It's just
the boldness of so many fans out here that believe
(19:32):
that everything starts and ends with them based on when
the lasses is number one. It's idiotic. But also on
top of that, it is it's scary to think that
those people are out there when you're playing a baseball
game and you happen to have a bad moment and
someone takes the time, takes the time out of their
(19:54):
day to threaten somebody that they do not know over
a baseball game. It's just unfortunately indigative of where we
are as a society. And I know there are those
fans are in the minority, but that shouldn't happen at all, right, No, And.

The thing about it is, and you know these guys,
and first they're pissed because I'm sure they lost money.
I'm sure that's what it was.

It was a bet. Right.

What they don't understand is when you say something like
that about someone's family or their children, you know, well,
that guy should be able to take it. He gets
paid a lot, but his wife doesn't and his family
members don't, and they're the ones that have to sit
there and Tanner Scott. I mean, if you're Tanner Scott's
wife and you see that, you said it, you got
to take it seriously. I said, well, you're probably thinking

on the back of your mind some nut, nothing will happen.
But if you're his wife, how do you look at it?
It's very different.

Yeah, yeah, it's different. It's scary. You know, you got kids,
you walking to the grocery store, or somebody points out,
oh that's Janner Scott's wife, and you got some guy
following her to the parking lot or doing something, yelling
at her in the aisles. You don't know what somebody
is capable of. And it's it's gey. Like I said,

I've had several teammates over the years that had to
take their kids out of school because they were getting
bullied because their dad had a bad game on Sunday.
And that's that's so uncalled for and unnecessary and no
child or no family member should have to go through

and going out, and they're threatening your family members because

It's just absurd to think that people will spend time

there's a lot of guys in the basement. Girls do
in the basement, and they're tough in the basement behind
a keyboard. But man, unfortunately, some of those things come
to fruition and people are really stalking some of these
people out there that are in the public eye. That's
why you have to take it seriously. But it should

never happen. It should never happen. A kid should be
able to go watch their dad play and hang out
and have a good time, go home, have a good
meal without looking up and going there's a thousand tweets
or a thousand messages about kill my family or your
dad should die or blah blah blah. It's just it's
so sad.

Miles Garrett. You know, you got to think about him

some point the money's great, but you want to win,
and he's gone to a great place. I mean, think

about the Rams. They would already already talked about they
already had the best roster. Now it puts it way
over the top. They got to be overwhelmingly favorite to

obviously are excited on social media, Fred, but they want more,

want to bring back one of their old favorites to
see if he wants to come back and aid in
them trying to win another championship at home. So there's
been a groundswell of support online for the Rams to

go find Miles, excuse me to go find they're a
former superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald and see if he
wants to come out of retirement to join this Rams team. Now, obviously,
I'm sure he keeps himself in great shape. Whether or
not he's in playing shape after being retired for a
few years, I don't know. But if you're the Rams,
is that a call that you're willing to throw out
there just to test the waters to see if he

wants to team up with Miles Garrett on the defensive
line there?
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Fred, Well, I mean, I'm always going to pick up
the phone. What's your cost to make a call?
Speaker 3 (25:03):

He'll say no, But at least you make the call.
That'd be great. I mean, then they don't even need
to play the games. Just put him in the playoffs
because that's how tough they'll be. Yeah, I think it'd
be great, coming to be honest with you, but he's
not gonna play. But why not? Hell doesn't cost anything.

I'd be interested, But I mean who wouldn't. Let's put
it like that.

I mean, you say he's gonna say if he's thirty five,
he's not old.

I think football is so incredibly demanding, it's not like
anything else. And he's had a couple of years, so
maybe he feels, all right, you don't want to give
it a shot. But I don't see that happening.

Right, call him, especially at that position, like there was guys.
Dion Sanders retired for maybe four years before he came
back and played with Baltimore, mostly as a as a safety,
But being a defensive back and playing in the trenches
is a little bit different. So I have no doubt
that Aaron Donald could do it. But to your point,
I don't know if it's something that he'd signed up for.
But if I'm the Rams, I'm picking up the phone
and calling him. Why the hell not? Hell's Dick Jones

still around? Call we call him too, Get him back
into the defensive.

By the way, A bit of trivia for you, Fred,

Vinny kind of alluded to this too, about you know,
the FM picks mentality and all that. So Sister Rams
moved back to Los Angeles in twenty sixteen. They have
made exactly three number one picks. They've had three first
round picks that they've actually selected. Can you name those three?
Jared Goff yep, and that's you like n name Yeah,
so Ty Simpson, we know happened this year obviously, Okay, Well,

and the other one they just shipped off to Cleveland.
Jared first three picks in ten years. That's like NBA level.
We don't see that happen in the NFL that often.
But it's a testament to your point, like you mentioned
in the opening segment of the show, to their dedication
to try to put a winning product on the field
and not necessarily try to build through youth and go
through all that situation. In a rebuilding situation, they want
to win now, and they are already at the best
(27:15):
roster in the NFL according to a lot of pundits,
and now they're even better by adding the reigning Defensive
Player of the Year to go along with the reigning
league MVP in Matthew Stefan.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Yeah. But Kevin, remember this, it's not like they don't
pick anybody, but they're so prepared because organizationally they have
that structure in place. They can find guys in the fourth,
fifth round that can help them play. They don't necessarily
have to gamble everything on this one pick because they're
(27:45):
so good. It's scouting and making the selections that they
can get a guy late in the draft who could
be better than somebody they would have taken in the
first round. I mean, and that's just the organization. That's
kind of like the Dodger front off. They just know
what they're doing.
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Couldn't have said it better myself. So the long rumored trade,
the blog Puster trade that was supposed to happen that
we were all waiting for June first, also went down,
now very blunted in the news cycle because obviously people
were floored by this Miles Garrett trade. But about an
hour or so ago, the aj Brown to the Patriot
trade was made official. They sent him to New England
(28:22):
for a first round pick next year and a fifth
round pick and a fifth roump excuse me, a fifth
round pick that could convert depending on how his production
level is with New England. So it's been rumored for
a while. And of course the person who started the rumors,
ironically enough, is Diana Russini, so maybe she had some
insight that other insiders didn't. But Nevertheless, Fred, the trade
(28:45):
is official and Drake May has his number one receiver
and A. J. Brown officially going to the Patriots today.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
So she didn't break that trade today.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
The treat now I don't believe. So no, okay, it's.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Probably still in sabbatical. Didn't he A Brown play for
Grabel in Tennessee?
Speaker 4 (29:00):

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Okay, so obviously that's somebody that he wanted, and you know,
it kind of snuck out that he wanted them, and
it makes complete sense. Here's what surprises me. If you
look at the the Hall Cleveland God for Garrett who
was arguable playing the top defensive player in the game,

at least at his position, I would have thought it
would have cost more for AJ Brown.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
Well see, but this is where the headache tax comes
in because the stuff on the sideline, for lack of
a better term, I just came up with that, I
don't know. But you know, why is he being traded
from Philadelphia to begin with? Because if everything was hunky
dory and there were no issues, he'd still be there,
you know. So the fact that he's had issues on
the sideline with teammates, with coaches being a little bit
aloof at talking about his touches a lack thereof That's
(29:51):
the big reason why he's on the market, and I
think that's the big reason why you're not getting a
much bigger return for him. The talent is undeniable, but
he's a giant headache Miles Garrett, and you know, Vinnie
brought this up for all intensive purposes. Has been a
model citizen despite the fact that he's been playing for
a losing franchise for the past seven years or whatever
it's been.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yeah, well, congratulations to the Patriots. A lot of people
went down in pursuit of that deal. Let's just put
it like that.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
You know, there's a joke there. I'm just gonna leave
alone their friend.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I'm not gonna I bet uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (30:20):
Oh, you know. I saw this about the Lakers to
talk about how they can improve their roster, and by honest, honestly,
is there really anything that they can do to get
them on the Spurs level here soon? Probably not. But
there was one Western Conference executive who says the person
they should have set their sights on is Lou Dort.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Yes love Blue Dort.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Yes, so an executive to Shawn Devnie of Heavy Sports.
He said, if you're the Lakers. You want to be
front and center on a guy like lou Dort. He
can come in and change your entire perimeter defense, he says.
If they can get him, he'd be a problem. He's
a three and D guy. That takes him to another level.
The three not so much, but the defense is unquestionable.
One of the best perimeter defenders in the league. He
(30:57):
does have an eleven million dollars team option, which I'm
sure Oklahoma City is gonna pick up to see if
they can trade for assets. I guess the question is
what do the Lakers have that Oklahoma City would want.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
Well, let me say this. I love lou Dor. Jack
played with him at Arizona State. That's right, they were boys.
Lou dor is a maniac, right. Lou Dort can't really
shoot it, Oh my god.
Speaker 5 (31:19):
Defensively, I will take your head off, literally.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Oh, he will take and he does not care. That's
the other thing about lou dor He does not care.
He's not built. He's not an NFL linebacker. He's a
guarden in the NBA, but he sure plays like one.
He is disruptive. Uh, he shakes things up. I would
love to see lou Dort in the Laker uniform. That
(31:42):
would be fun because he doesn't care and he will
sacrifice himself. He I mean, you love that guy if
he's on your team. But then you ask the correct question,
So what do the Lakers have that they're gonna want? Nothing?
What do they have?
Speaker 5 (31:58):
The Lakers have three first rounds that they can trade.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
There's no way they're to stop. There's no way they're
trading a first round pick for lou Dort.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
I don't know.

As despos as they are, they might, I can definitely
see it. Now you're gonna trade all of them? I
can see them, maybe one and maybe something else, but
I can He's definitely a guy that will instantaneously help them.
And Oklahoma City needs to get that money off their bucks.
And as good you talk about how great the Dodgers
do with scouting and how great the Rams do with scouting.
If it's a twenty fifth pick, which is I believe
(32:26):
what the Lakers have this year. If it's literally just
a twenty fifth pick for lou Dort, who's to say
Oklahoma City can't find the next lou Dort on a
cheaper contract, because that's just how they operate. So it
would not surprise me one bit if they were to
pull that off.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Yeah, if it's twenty young day, if it's number twenty five, yeah,
you know, and I'm thinking, no, no, the Lakers, Yeah,
they don't pick till twenty five, so yeah, that would
make sense. I would do that. Yeah, from twenty five. Yeah,
one pick and get Lou. Absolutely, because I'll tell you what,
at twenty five, the Lakers aren't gonna draft anybody as
good as Lou.

No, not in the least bit, not at all. Who's
gonna be able to make an impact right now? Absolutely not.
So yeah, we'll see what happens when it comes to that.
