so go Trojans. I was watching that thinking in college baseball,

you know, they have that double bass at first base
where they have the base and then on the right
side or in foul territory, they have a second base,
which I think is green most of the time, and
it really is there for those particular situations, so there's
no collisions like that at first base. So that's the
first thing that popped in my mind. Then I was like,

as I watched it and watched it over because I
thought they just hit their chest, their arms kind of
collided with each other their shoulder, but it was both
their heads. In fact, Max's helmet went right into that
first baseman's head. The glasses popped off. It was a
very violent football like collision for it. It was nasty. Yeah,

I mean it was nasty. And as it were both
running to first base, you didn't think that was gonna happen.
It was sort of like a game of chicken, and
nobody flinched. Yeah, because you see that play all the
time where its hit to the first baseman, and I
use I think it's see. I think the burden is
on the first baseman to peel off inside and hit

the inside of the bag and peel off inside, and
it's the job of the runner to go over the
base and peel off outside. It looked like the first
baseman was trying to run through the bag as opposed
to running and peeling off. I don't want to put
too much blame because it was a bang bang collision.
I know they're both trying to get there at the
same time, but it just to me, it's just it's

it's like who has to right away? You know, if
you're going at each other, if you both turn right,
then everything's gonna be okay. But if you both one
turns right and one turns left, then you're gonna be
a collision. And that's what it looked like. Yeah, it
was bad. And then when they hit and some people

a former football player, When you saw it in slow motion,
all he was doing was protecting himself, by the way,
everybody was trying to protect themselves at this point. But
when you saw it in slow motion, it looked like
he launched him about fifteen feet. Max didn't take the
run of that. Somebody else did. No, Max got it.
Max got it on the nose. Yeah, but that was

a very bad decision to try and run him over,
because I gotta be honest with you, he's a guy
you're not gonna run over. If there's a collision. He
may feel it, but you're gonna feel look worse. And
that's just the way he's wired. I remember our show
at Hollywood Park when he was playing second base, remember this,

and guys would steal. Yeah, And when the guy would
steal and he'd take the throne tag him, the guy
was worse for wear. I mean, that was a really
bad call. If he was playing second base and you
tried to steal, that was a bad decision on your
part because you were going to feel it. And I
even asked him about that. I asked him about that contact.

Carolina in North Carolina Chapel Hills, so hostile environment. But
the Trojans are holding on right now. Didn't you see
LA get knocked out? Yeah, they did early, and they
hosted it. They hosted the regional too. Yeah, they lost,
and they they had some dramatic games where they were
down about to get knocked out and hit back to
back home runs in the ninth inning to tie it

and then won it. And then uh then they lost
after that. But yeah, they were and they were wired
to wire number one team in the country, UCLA. And yeah,
they got bounced early. Was it St. Mary's, Saint Mary's
Yeah knocked them out. Yeah, yeah, that was shocking. Yeah. Yeah,
And there's your Trojans just hanging around, hanging around, hanging around.

They gotta beat they gotta beat North Carolina twice though,
that's the thing, So we'll see. All right. We have

Want to talk quickly about Steve Balmer here and a
decision or it's been reported that he is against trading
Kawhi Leonard. He's against trading Kawhi Leonard. And I'm thinking
(30:11):
to myself, Steve, what are you doing? What are you doing?
You're welcome to no man's land. See, teams don't strike
when they have the opportunity, and it's hard to acknowledge. Okay,
you know, maybe we take a step back a little
one because the Clippers do a good job of filling
(30:32):
out their roster. Kawhi Leonard is not your long term
solution to anything. And I think it's safe to say
you can disagree with me. I think it's safe to
say with Kawhi Leonard this season, the Clippers are not
going to be favored to win the NBA title? Would
that be fair to say? What if they get Yiannis
(30:52):
and they get somebody else, well, well they'll have a
better shot. But then everybody has to say healthy. Yeah,
I don't think any shape or anything that they could do,
could make them a favorite given what we've seen from
these teams, these teams in the playoffs right now, in
(31:16):
both conference finals. Yeah, the Cavs got swept, but they're
still a good young team, long team. I don't think
they bring James Harden back in Cleveland, But two young
teams I don't think, especially in the West. Who are
they going to be favored above in the West? The Spurs, No,
the Thunder, the Nuggets. I mean, yeah, so there's no chance,
(31:36):
no matter really, no matter what they do, unless they
just completely trade rosters with somebody. Yeah, well, then have
to trade Kawhi and everybody to San Antonio get their roster.
That just got me to thinking, tell me if you
think this is right or wrong. As you were saying,
I was thinking to myself, Okay, so he doesn't want
to trade Kawhi and there's the way things are done
in the NBA. And what team of the West can
(31:58):
they beat? I thought to myself, all right, so what
are the Lakers really gonna do? What are they gonna do?
We know how everybody conducts business in the NBA, and
we just did it right there. Well, what if they
get you honest to what would that mean. But we
know that the Dodger people look at things differently. They
(32:20):
just have a different way of doing things. We don't
know if it's gonna work in the NBA or not.
I mean proof of performances it works in baseball. But
let's say they came up with some formula or system
using analytics to reinvent how NBA teams are built. Let's
(32:40):
just say that happened. What do you think you're gonna
play moneyball? And I don't know what. I don't know
what they could do, but they figure stuff out. What
if they came out this year and it brought Polinka,
who knows what he's doing, and he's making all these
weird moves, these these strange moves, which, by the way,
he's already done, but now it's it's even more strange
(33:03):
when you can't figure out what he's doing and it works.
And maybe it's because the Dodger people have put in
this system now, or these analytics or this formula or
a different way of doing things, and so he makes
all of these moves. If he is making the moves.
But if he makes the moves and you're saying, what
(33:24):
the hell is this and it works, maybe they are
able to revolutionize how basketball teams are built. Do you
think that's even a possibility what you're putting your hopes on. Yeah,
it's all I done. That's really all I got, Rodney. Yeah,
it'd be different with their you know, if they could
duplicate what they do with the Dodgers, which is, you know,
(33:47):
unlimited resources and can outspend anybody, but it's with a
cap and you got aprons, and you got a relative
level playing field in the NBA, so you do the
same things that you do in baseball. So that's going
to be difficult, but you can go out and find,
you know, guys that may not you know, be a
(34:12):
lottery pick or number one pick, but down in the
draft in the twenties right, or even a free agent
or early second round, and turn them into something because
you've done your homework well enough that those guys can
come out and play for you and be start for
your Dodgers. Do that too, and they go get veterans
that people may have either given up on or figure
(34:32):
out that they got something left and got something to prove,
and go get Tioscar Hernandez, go get Max Muncy. You know,
go get Justin Turner back in the day, guys that
maybe somebody else give up on but still can play,
and they come to the Dodgers and thrive. So maybe
that's a similar mentality they take to the Lakers. Maybe
(34:52):
they start rebuilding the G League team. Maybe that's what
they do. Maybe they find guys that others have given
up or or people think well he just lost he's
two old whatever, and they started putting them in the
G League. In building the G League like a minor
league team and not a bunch of guys fighting for
(35:13):
a spot. Maybe they start doing that and stashing guys
in the older guy the league, guys they think can
help them turn it into like a minor league system.
So somebody waives somebody in the NBA, the guy can't
find a job, will take it, but you have to
play in the G League. And they have this whole
stable of guys in the G League that know how
(35:34):
to play, and they start calling them up. How about
that call up baseball players? Yeah right, Well, you know
you're hurt. You don't look so good to me. What
do you mean it looks like you're it looks like
you're struggling.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Well, You really can't do that. It's not built like
like the Major League, like Major League Baseball, you don't
have the rights unless it's a two way guy on
a two way contract. If you are a player who
signs a G league contract, if you're playing for the
you know, Coachella Lakers or whatever they're called now, Yeah,
if the Detroit Pistons, the big club wants to sign
you to an NBA contract and you don't have a
two way contract with the Laker G League team, you
(36:13):
could jump off with the g LEA team and sign
an NBA contract with anybody. You don't own the rights
to a player, to a G League player like you
do a Major League Baseball.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
It doesn't work that way. So why can't they take
these old guys that they find, or these guys that
nobody wants but they think can play and sign it
a two way deals.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
If you have a limited amount of two way deals
you can sign. You can't just have a roster full
of two way guys. It doesn't work that way.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Muhamedy can you sign?
Speaker 2 (36:34):
I can find that out for you. But you can't
have an entire roster full of guys like that.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
You can't stockpile talent like you can in baseball, where
you got double A, triple A, NL instructional leagues, you
got all kinds of stuff you can't. But you don't
know what the Dodger people will figure out. Maybe you
can sign four guys like that three okay.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
You can carry up to three two way players at
any given time in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Okay, And can you, like if somebody way somebody or whatever,
can you just sign them right now to two way? Yeah,
you probably can, Okay. So that's what they'll do.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Just you're asking and answering questions that we don't know
the full answer to.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
So that's why I'm answering them, okay, because I'm making
up the answers because we don't know the real answers,
so I'm making them up. I think that's what they'll do.
That's their plan. So I don't know who's on these
two way contracts. Now, when the Lakers are done, you're
gonna get some thirty year old guys on it. Try
that's right. I'm getting those guys. I'm putting them in
(37:33):
the G league, guys that can help us. That that's
gonna be their plan. You watch, I'll bet you that's
what they do. They'll figure it out. You don't even
believe that. Then't even come right out of your mouth.
You don't believe that.

Either a two way player, you have to have three
or fewer years of experience in the NBA to qualify.
Unless you're finding a thirty five year old guy who
has been playing in Germany or something who has no
NBA experience, you can sign him, but three years or
fewer of NBA experience.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
See, that's why for the Globe trotters, Fred, and you
just picked. Well, I think that's a rule that needs
to be revisited.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
All right, I'll get Adam Silver on the phone and
let him know that you said that.

Yeah, I think we should revisit that rule, because then
the Laker guys could start building like a farm team,
just like the Dodger guys do. That's the call. They'll
figure it out. You watch, you watch you look at
the G League. Next year, it's gonna be one of
these some guy's gonna come up and we're gonna just
like the Dodgers do. Who the hell is that guy?

Who is that? Where did he come from? They'll find
that guy and put him in the G League on
a two year deal. You watch, that's what they're gonna do.
I know they're planning now. No, they're gonna get five
draft picks at some point in the near future for somewhere.
How how do they do it, I don't know, but
that's how they're gonna do it, because that's the way
you have to do it. In the NBA. You gotta
do it the San Antonio OKC model, and then you

can build it with young players and you can build
those young players and you have them on a you know,
rookie deals for a minute, and you can build that
up with one bona fide superstar. That's the way you
got to do it, because you can't stockpile, like you said,
and if getting having one draft pick, two tops draft
(39:22):
picks and each draft is not going to help you
build it either. So this is what you know what
you're telling me. And Okay, I'm glad you're bring it up.
You think you're smarter than the Dodger guys, because they'll
figure out another way. There will invent a way. Well,
your way, friend, was to do it just like the
Dodgers do it. And it's two different sports with two
different rules. You can't do it that way, but they'll

figure out away, get the rule change. They know how
to do this stuff, Rodney. I know they know how
to do a lot. Don't get me wrong, They absolutely

it's two to one. We're good right in this thing, Freddy,
right in this thing in Chapel Hill, that's all right,
all right? Like that, yeah, very much alive. Uh, you know,
you haven't done it unless you have a picture of it.
And the thing you want to do is nobody will
believe you unless you can chronicle it. So that being said,

for example, the guy with the San Antonio spurs, the
guy runs on the court. He wants to take us
all right, he can tell everybody's got that picture. Not
for the rest of his life, yes, and what else
to do for the rest of his life? Ritt never
go to an NBA game, right, But nonetheless he had
to take a picture of it. That's what this is about.
He had his moment and now he thought he was

a star. Because if you don't chronicle something, it doesn't exist.
So the sky goes to six flags and he's riding
a roller coaster Millennium Force. Now, I guess that's a
big roller coaster. It's a big deal, right, And when
you're on that roller coaster, you gotta hang on, you know,

you can't be doing stupid stuff you fly out and die. Well,
what this guy did is he started eating chicken McNuggets
and making a video of himself on YouTube. That's what
he did on the roller coaster. On the roller coaster.
M hmm, what happened. He's banned for life, right, it's

not nine. He's seen fifties roller coasters. Fred Now every
roller coaster now and every theme park has got video
cameras everywhere. That's what you get after you get off
one of those rides. Right, you go into little booth
so they make a lot of money. They go into
that booth and they got a picture of you going
down the water slide at Universal, or going on to
matter Horn at Disneyland, or going anywhere on this ride
(43:20):
at six Flags. They got photos in every one of
the seats that takes picture of on the roller coaster,
got photos and cameras takes pictures of you. You can't
get away with anything. I don't know why people try
to do it unless they're okay with getting banned for
life because of that one moment. What happened with that
kid from San Antonio who took that photo of Wimby.
(43:41):
He's old and ball in his fifties. He wants to
go to take his kids to a basketball game. What
happens to him because his appearance changed, Is he gonna
be able to get in? No, they'll figure it out.
They'll figure it out facial recognition, right, Yeah, you know
what they'll do. He'll wear a mask, He'll do some
weird kind of mask, and then they'll make a video
(44:02):
of that, and I'll go, look, I shot it again.
I got in and then be banned again. Right, you'll
be banned again. I don't understand why. It's all about
that moment, that image. That's second. It's all about capturing
that you're not doing anything just because you want to
be there. I mean, I know people to go to events,
the first thing they do is are walking in. We

got to take some pictures. I gotta post these. You
haven't you haven't gone inside yet. Yeah, you don't even
know what's happening yet. I don't even know. I don't
have a problem with that as much because you're documenting. Hey,
we're going to a concert, or we're going to an event.
We're going in here to a play, and here's the
outside marquee. We're going in with my But I have
a problem when you're inside, you're listening to a concert,
or you're watching a movie, or you're doing you know,

some event that you're at, and you're on on the
phone the whole time, and you're not even listening to
the performers. One thing was cool. I went to see
h Bruno Mars actually when they were silk Sonic, right,
so in Vegas they did, they did a residency in Vegas,

so we went a couple of times. Actually, you know,
they take away your phones before you go in. Oh
they do. Oh yeah, you have to put them in
his pouch that you can unlock until you get outside,
and they unlock it for you, and so nobody can
use their phones, videotape or just do anything other than
pay attention to the concert. I thought that was pretty cool. No,
(45:28):
that's smart. We'll be focused, be present. Yeah, you know,
enjoy the moment. The moment should not be I'm enjoying
the moment and look at me. You see, if you
went to the concert but you didn't take a picture
of yourself there, people will go will you lied? You
didn't go to the concert? Right? Hey, you know I
had some chicken nuggets on the roller coaster at six Flag.
(45:49):
No you didn't. Why we didn't post it? How do
I believe you? You can't believe who I met. I
was walking down the street and I met somebody, a
star of some sort. No you didn't, well, well you
didn't take a picture of it. People don't even believe
you if you don't take a picture of it. Now. True,
it's true. It's not even about the event. It's about

you being at the event. That is true. That is true,
And there's a certain level if it's okay, like I
said to do it beforehand. Hey, I'm getting on this
ride with my chicken nuggets. Okay, but not on the
ride itself. Enjoy the ride. Enjoy the ride, not the

end the way you expected last night in Arizona. We'll
get to that second, but let's get to the big
news first, and that was the collision with Max Muntsey

at first base. What did you think when you saw it. Ooh,
you know what, I thought, that was funny, he said that.
You know what I thought, because I've been watching I've
been watching a lot of college baseball lately. By the
way USC plays North Carolina, it might be on right
now and super regional to go to the College World Series,
so go Trojans. I was watching that thinking in college baseball,
(02:34):
you know, they have that double bass at first base
where they have the base and then on the right
side or in foul territory, they have a second base,
which I think is green most of the time, and
it really is there for those particular situations, so there's
no collisions like that at first base. So that's the
first thing that popped in my mind. Then I was like,
(02:56):
as I watched it and watched it over because I
thought they just hit their chest, their arms kind of
collided with each other their shoulder, but it was both
their heads. In fact, Max's helmet went right into that
first baseman's head. The glasses popped off. It was a
very violent football like collision for it. It was nasty. Yeah,
(03:19):
I mean it was nasty. And as it were both
running to first base, you didn't think that was gonna happen.
It was sort of like a game of chicken, and
nobody flinched. Yeah, because you see that play all the
time where its hit to the first baseman, and I
use I think it's see. I think the burden is
on the first baseman to peel off inside and hit
(03:41):
the inside of the bag and peel off inside, and
it's the job of the runner to go over the
base and peel off outside. It looked like the first
baseman was trying to run through the bag as opposed
to running and peeling off. I don't want to put
too much blame because it was a bang bang collision.
I know they're both trying to get there at the
same time, but it just to me, it's just it's
(04:01):
it's like who has to right away? You know, if
you're going at each other, if you both turn right,
then everything's gonna be okay. But if you both one
turns right and one turns left, then you're gonna be
a collision. And that's what it looked like. Yeah, it
was bad. And then when they hit and some people
took offense to this when they hit you know, Max
(04:23):
a former football player, When you saw it in slow motion,
all he was doing was protecting himself, by the way,
everybody was trying to protect themselves at this point. But
when you saw it in slow motion, it looked like
he launched him about fifteen feet. Max didn't take the
run of that. Somebody else did. No, Max got it.
Max got it on the nose. Yeah, but that was
(04:45):
a very bad decision to try and run him over,
because I gotta be honest with you, he's a guy
you're not gonna run over. If there's a collision. He
may feel it, but you're gonna feel look worse. And
that's just the way he's wired. I remember our show
at Hollywood Park when he was playing second base, remember this,
(05:08):
and guys would steal. Yeah, And when the guy would
steal and he'd take the throne tag him, the guy
was worse for wear. I mean, that was a really
bad call. If he was playing second base and you
tried to steal, that was a bad decision on your
part because you were going to feel it. And I
even asked him about that. I asked him about that contact.
(05:30):
He goes, oh, yeah, I love it. You know, I
was a linebacker. I love it. So you're not gonna
win you're not gonna win a mono we mono battle
with him, and that's what happened last night. No, definitely not.
You could tell he plays with that football mentality and
even if you test him, you know, you remember the
(05:53):
incident would Bumgarner back back in the day with the Giants.
He tried to get in his face a little bit.
I don't think hard have wonted any part of Max
Muncie when he told him to get it out of
the ocean. So yeah, he's not the guy you want
to mess with. No, So all right, so we got
that settled. Now let's go to should Dave Roberts have
(06:16):
pinched it o'tani because that was a question after the game.
You know, you're in a situation now and you can
use a run or two, you can use a little cushion.
Should he have pinched o'time when at the before the
ninth or in the ninth when it was tied in
(06:36):
the ninth, Now, Dave said that they were going to
hit him, but in extra innings, if it got to
extra innings, then they was going to pinch hit him
because you know, now he's in the game, so they
were going to pinch hit him in extra innings. But
you think about it and you say, well, the game
(06:56):
was tied in the ninth. But then Dave turned around
and said, yeah, but if we hit him, they walk him.
So they just took a bat out of his hands. Anyway, Yeah,
it doesn't do us any good. But afterwards there was
some thought about why didn't you pinch at Ohtani? I
thought he made His logic was completely logical. I mean,
what he said made complete sense. Yeah, you get somebody
(07:19):
on maybe you get a guy at second base. Maybe
it's a different story, a different idea, but yeah, he's
going to pinch hit him. To pinch hit him, You're right.
Even if there is a guy second in nobody at first,
they're going to walk him. They're not going to allow
him to beat you. So it's got to be the
right situation that you're going to pinch hit for him.
All right. So now we've addressed that. Now let's move
(07:40):
to Tanner Scott. The minute Marte hit that ball, did
you have any doubt in your mind? The minute the
batman contact with the ball, did you have any my only,
my only hope at that point go foul? And I
was yelling, go foul, go foul go fowl Harris Road.
He said, there there are there are bomb home runs.
(08:03):
There are home runs. That was a thunderous that almost
with it out of the stadium. That was almost like
uh swore bron Otani in the playoffs last year where
he hit him out of the stadium. That ball. He
knew it as soon as it was hit. It was
a no. That's what they call a capitol no doubter
for it, no doubter. It's like he knew it was coming.
(08:24):
Fell me that low and inside fastball. I'm turning on
it and it's going to go out of the stadium
run he launched it. It was like it was like
hitting a golf ball. Yeah, it was like that sound.
You know, it really was. I wonder what I wonder
would have liked in the stadium because the whole crowd
knew right away too, And and Joe Tavis made the

call forget about it, good, good morning, good day, and
good night. It was yeah, it was. It was a blast.
But then that leads to this and here we go,
Yeah that do you know what do I an't ee
just say what it is? No, no, because that's what
everybody's thinking. That's what everybody's thinking. Are we at the

beginning of the downward turn? And it's a shame of
Tanner Scott because he's been a really good picture, which
is why the Doctors signed him in the first place,
had one bad year last year and actually was off
to a really good start this year. Now, last week
he gave up the home run in the Philly series

late in the game, and then yesterday, so you can't
help your mind, can't help thinking is this last year
all over again? Now? And that's tough because there's a
lot of season left and you just hope that it
just on top of that, Fred, You're rooting for the
guy with all the stuff he's been dealing with and
(09:53):
the threats and all that kind of stuff. So I'm
rooting for him harder. I'm rooting for most guys on
the team to come through in situations like that, and
it was just unfortunate. He just just hope mentally he can, uh,
he can rise above it and get past it because
they're gonna need him, you know, with all the guy
who's injured and hurt and in and out, they're gonna
need him. So it's very important he bounces back but man,
(10:15):
that's a that's a that's a mental blow more than
the physical blow. Yeah, So we'll see how he reacts
to that. Of course, they have the Mighty Angels on deck,
and I can't think of a better team to send
them back out there against and get well. They're one
of those get well teams. I think you say that
just to rub Kevin the wrong way. Fred, When you
go attack the Angels like you, Kevin feels the way

I do.

No one attacks them more than I do riding you
know that, So keep it coming by all means. If

As far as the calendar goes, so the lockout will
begin on December first. I think that's when the so
the CBA would end. So for perspective, last year's winter
meetings were between December seventh and December eleventh, so we
could potentially have a lockout before we even have a

things happen. And Boris guys almost never sign immediately. Those
guys always drag it out.

Want to talk quickly about Steve Balmer here and a
decision or it's been reported that he is against trading
Kawhi Leonard. He's against trading Kawhi Leonard. And I'm thinking

to myself, Steve, what are you doing? What are you doing?
You're welcome to no man's land. See, teams don't strike
when they have the opportunity, and it's hard to acknowledge. Okay,
you know, maybe we take a step back a little
one because the Clippers do a good job of filling

out their roster. Kawhi Leonard is not your long term
solution to anything. And I think it's safe to say
you can disagree with me. I think it's safe to
say with Kawhi Leonard this season, the Clippers are not
going to be favored to win the NBA title? Would
that be fair to say? What if they get Yiannis

and they get somebody else, well, well they'll have a
better shot. But then everybody has to say healthy. Yeah,
I don't think any shape or anything that they could do,
could make them a favorite given what we've seen from
these teams, these teams in the playoffs right now, in

both conference finals. Yeah, the Cavs got swept, but they're
still a good young team, long team. I don't think
they bring James Harden back in Cleveland, But two young
teams I don't think, especially in the West. Who are
they going to be favored above in the West? The Spurs, No,
the Thunder, the Nuggets. I mean, yeah, so there's no chance,

no matter really, no matter what they do, unless they
just completely trade rosters with somebody. Yeah, well, then have
to trade Kawhi and everybody to San Antonio get their roster.
That just got me to thinking, tell me if you
think this is right or wrong. As you were saying,
I was thinking to myself, Okay, so he doesn't want
to trade Kawhi and there's the way things are done
in the NBA. And what team of the West can

they beat? I thought to myself, all right, so what
are the Lakers really gonna do? What are they gonna do?
We know how everybody conducts business in the NBA, and
we just did it right there. Well, what if they
get you honest to what would that mean. But we
know that the Dodger people look at things differently. They

just have a different way of doing things. We don't
know if it's gonna work in the NBA or not.
I mean proof of performances it works in baseball. But
let's say they came up with some formula or system
using analytics to reinvent how NBA teams are built. Let's
(32:40):
just say that happened. What do you think you're gonna
play moneyball? And I don't know what. I don't know
what they could do, but they figure stuff out. What
if they came out this year and it brought Polinka,
who knows what he's doing, and he's making all these
weird moves, these these strange moves, which, by the way,
he's already done, but now it's it's even more strange

when you can't figure out what he's doing and it works.
And maybe it's because the Dodger people have put in
this system now, or these analytics or this formula or
a different way of doing things, and so he makes
all of these moves. If he is making the moves.
But if he makes the moves and you're saying, what
(33:24):
the hell is this and it works, maybe they are
able to revolutionize how basketball teams are built. Do you
think that's even a possibility what you're putting your hopes on. Yeah,
it's all I done. That's really all I got, Rodney. Yeah,
it'd be different with their you know, if they could
duplicate what they do with the Dodgers, which is, you know,
(33:47):
unlimited resources and can outspend anybody, but it's with a
cap and you got aprons, and you got a relative
level playing field in the NBA, so you do the
same things that you do in baseball. So that's going
to be difficult, but you can go out and find,
you know, guys that may not you know, be a

lottery pick or number one pick, but down in the
draft in the twenties right, or even a free agent
or early second round, and turn them into something because
you've done your homework well enough that those guys can
come out and play for you and be start for
your Dodgers. Do that too, and they go get veterans
that people may have either given up on or figure
(34:32):
out that they got something left and got something to prove,
and go get Tioscar Hernandez, go get Max Muncy. You know,
go get Justin Turner back in the day, guys that
maybe somebody else give up on but still can play,
and they come to the Dodgers and thrive. So maybe
that's a similar mentality they take to the Lakers. Maybe
(34:52):
they start rebuilding the G League team. Maybe that's what
they do. Maybe they find guys that others have given
up or or people think well he just lost he's
two old whatever, and they started putting them in the
G League. In building the G League like a minor
league team and not a bunch of guys fighting for
(35:13):
a spot. Maybe they start doing that and stashing guys
in the older guy the league, guys they think can
help them turn it into like a minor league system.
So somebody waives somebody in the NBA, the guy can't
find a job, will take it, but you have to
play in the G League. And they have this whole
stable of guys in the G League that know how
(35:34):
to play, and they start calling them up. How about
that call up baseball players? Yeah right, Well, you know
you're hurt. You don't look so good to me. What
do you mean it looks like you're it looks like
you're struggling.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Well, You really can't do that. It's not built like
like the Major League, like Major League Baseball, you don't
have the rights unless it's a two way guy on
a two way contract. If you are a player who
signs a G league contract, if you're playing for the
you know, Coachella Lakers or whatever they're called now, Yeah,
if the Detroit Pistons, the big club wants to sign
you to an NBA contract and you don't have a
two way contract with the Laker G League team, you
(36:13):
could jump off with the g LEA team and sign
an NBA contract with anybody. You don't own the rights
to a player, to a G League player like you
do a Major League Baseball.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
It doesn't work that way. So why can't they take
these old guys that they find, or these guys that
nobody wants but they think can play and sign it
a two way deals.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
If you have a limited amount of two way deals
you can sign. You can't just have a roster full
of two way guys. It doesn't work that way.

I can find that out for you. But you can't
have an entire roster full of guys like that.

You can't stockpile talent like you can in baseball, where
you got double A, triple A, NL instructional leagues, you

know what the Dodger people will figure out. Maybe you
can sign four guys like that three okay.

You can carry up to three two way players at
any given time in the NBA.

Okay, And can you, like if somebody way somebody or whatever,
can you just sign them right now to two way? Yeah,
you probably can, Okay. So that's what they'll do.

Just you're asking and answering questions that we don't know
the full answer to.

So that's why I'm answering them, okay, because I'm making
up the answers because we don't know the real answers,
so I'm making them up. I think that's what they'll do.
That's their plan. So I don't know who's on these
two way contracts. Now, when the Lakers are done, you're
gonna get some thirty year old guys on it. Try
that's right. I'm getting those guys. I'm putting them in

the G league, guys that can help us. That that's
gonna be their plan. You watch, I'll bet you that's
what they do. They'll figure it out. You don't even
believe that. Then't even come right out of your mouth.

or fewer years of experience in the NBA to qualify.
Unless you're finding a thirty five year old guy who
has been playing in Germany or something who has no

to be revisited.

the Laker guys could start building like a farm team,

you have to do it. In the NBA. You gotta
do it the San Antonio OKC model, and then you

can build it with young players and you can build
those young players and you have them on a you know,
rookie deals for a minute, and you can build that
up with one bona fide superstar. That's the way you
got to do it, because you can't stockpile, like you said,
and if getting having one draft pick, two tops draft

picks and each draft is not going to help you
build it either. So this is what you know what
you're telling me. And Okay, I'm glad you're bring it up.
You think you're smarter than the Dodger guys, because they'll
figure out another way. There will invent a way. Well,
your way, friend, was to do it just like the
Dodgers do it. And it's two different sports with two
different rules. You can't do it that way, but they'll

right in this thing in Chapel Hill, that's all right,
all right? Like that, yeah, very much alive. Uh, you know,
you haven't done it unless you have a picture of it.
And the thing you want to do is nobody will
believe you unless you can chronicle it. So that being said,

for example, the guy with the San Antonio spurs, the
guy runs on the court. He wants to take us
all right, he can tell everybody's got that picture. Not
for the rest of his life, yes, and what else
to do for the rest of his life? Ritt never
go to an NBA game, right, But nonetheless he had
to take a picture of it. That's what this is about.
He had his moment and now he thought he was

a star. Because if you don't chronicle something, it doesn't exist.
So the sky goes to six flags and he's riding
a roller coaster Millennium Force. Now, I guess that's a
big roller coaster. It's a big deal, right, And when
you're on that roller coaster, you gotta hang on, you know,

you can't be doing stupid stuff you fly out and die. Well,
what this guy did is he started eating chicken McNuggets
and making a video of himself on YouTube. That's what
he did on the roller coaster. On the roller coaster.
M hmm, what happened. He's banned for life, right, it's
(42:59):
not nine. He's seen fifties roller coasters. Fred Now every
roller coaster now and every theme park has got video
cameras everywhere. That's what you get after you get off
one of those rides. Right, you go into little booth
so they make a lot of money. They go into
that booth and they got a picture of you going
down the water slide at Universal, or going on to
matter Horn at Disneyland, or going anywhere on this ride
(43:20):
at six Flags. They got photos in every one of
the seats that takes picture of on the roller coaster,
got photos and cameras takes pictures of you. You can't
get away with anything. I don't know why people try
to do it unless they're okay with getting banned for
life because of that one moment. What happened with that
kid from San Antonio who took that photo of Wimby.
(43:41):
He's old and ball in his fifties. He wants to
go to take his kids to a basketball game. What
happens to him because his appearance changed, Is he gonna
be able to get in? No, they'll figure it out.
They'll figure it out facial recognition, right, Yeah, you know
what they'll do. He'll wear a mask, He'll do some
weird kind of mask, and then they'll make a video
(44:02):
of that, and I'll go, look, I shot it again.
I got in and then be banned again. Right, you'll
be banned again. I don't understand why. It's all about
that moment, that image. That's second. It's all about capturing
that you're not doing anything just because you want to
be there. I mean, I know people to go to events,
the first thing they do is are walking in. We
(44:22):
got to take some pictures. I gotta post these. You
haven't you haven't gone inside yet. Yeah, you don't even
know what's happening yet. I don't even know. I don't
have a problem with that as much because you're documenting. Hey,
we're going to a concert, or we're going to an event.
We're going in here to a play, and here's the
outside marquee. We're going in with my But I have
a problem when you're inside, you're listening to a concert,
or you're watching a movie, or you're doing you know,
(44:43):
some event that you're at, and you're on on the
phone the whole time, and you're not even listening to
the performers. One thing was cool. I went to see
h Bruno Mars actually when they were silk Sonic, right,
so in Vegas they did, they did a residency in Vegas,
(45:06):
so we went a couple of times. Actually, you know,
they take away your phones before you go in. Oh
they do. Oh yeah, you have to put them in
his pouch that you can unlock until you get outside,
and they unlock it for you, and so nobody can
use their phones, videotape or just do anything other than
pay attention to the concert. I thought that was pretty cool. No,
(45:28):
that's smart. We'll be focused, be present. Yeah, you know,
enjoy the moment. The moment should not be I'm enjoying
the moment and look at me. You see, if you
went to the concert but you didn't take a picture
of yourself there, people will go will you lied? You
didn't go to the concert? Right? Hey, you know I
had some chicken nuggets on the roller coaster at six Flag.
(45:49):
No you didn't. Why we didn't post it? How do
I believe you? You can't believe who I met. I
was walking down the street and I met somebody, a
star of some sort. No you didn't, well, well you
didn't take a picture of it. People don't even believe
you if you don't take a picture of it. Now. True,
it's true. It's not even about the event. It's about

you being at the event. That is true. That is true,
And there's a certain level if it's okay, like I
said to do it beforehand. Hey, I'm getting on this
ride with my chicken nuggets. Okay, but not on the
ride itself. Enjoy the ride. Enjoy the ride, not the

photo of the chicken nuggets on the ride as it's moving.
Don't differently look stupid now, absolutely, Okay, we continue on.
