Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, here we go, Fred Rogan Jonas Knox on
a five to seventy LA Sports two hours Force today
because the Dodgers started six point thirty down in Anaheim
against the Angels. Uh, they pretty much delivered, I believe Jonas,
a very stern message to the Diamondbacks this weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Well, yeah, I think they delivered a stern message to
everybody in Major League Baseball. They're the best team in
the league, and you got them like all of a sudden.
It's a rebuilding year and everybody's going to be gone eventually,
So let's just go ahead and smile while we got
everybody here. Best team in the league, best team in
the league. Fred, this team's winning a World Series. I've
told you that. I've been consistent about it the entire time. Well,

(00:38):
you've been trying to air everybody out, ask for trades,
ask for firings, call for jobs. I've been sitting here saying,
this team's winning a World Series. It's happening.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah. No, that wasn't me. I wasn't asking for anyone's job,
trades or anything like that. I pretty much said what
you did. I haven't been paddied for one second. And
they seem to be catching fire at the right time.
I mean, that was a beat down in Arizona and
it was demoralizing for the Diamondbacks. Dodger bats were on
fire the game where we had Otani, Mooki and Freddie

(01:14):
Freeman all hitting home runs. Of course, at that point
that was Friday's game. Arizona came back and then the
Dodgers had to win it, but they won it with
their bats. They hit good pitching, and that's something they're
going to see in the playoffs. I just thought that
was as strong a performance in a critical series that
I have seen from the Dodgers in years. They put

(01:36):
it on them good.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
They let everybody know, let everybody know, let Arizona know,
this is acute story. Congratulations. You know, we've been dealing
with some issues injury wise, We've been dealing with some
stuff that's popped up during the course of the season.
But we're going to go on the road and we're
going to give you a beating and we got a
little bit of something for And it wasn't like they

(01:57):
got production from one player in your still having question
marks about a couple of other guys. It didn't it
feel like everybody chipped in. Everybody had a role, and
what was happening this weekend, and you look back on
the seas on the series in total, and you go,
it wasn't just Otani. Mookie Betts chipped in. Freddie Freeman
came back strong. And again we go back to while

(02:19):
everybody was concerned about what does this mean after they
lost a game to the Orioles. Nothing. The season was
going to be decided down the stretch against the Diamondbacks
and against the Podrays. Step one is done and now
we move on to the Podrays. Eliminate that, and then
the Dodgers are off to the playoffs and the number
one seed in the NL.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Does anyone and Adam mentioned it last week, but I
think after this series we can even got the exclamation point.
Anybody want to call and say, uh, maybe you shouldn't
trade Chris Taylor. Anybody on that trade now, I mean
that you wanted to run out of town last week.
Guys that should never play again. Ever, you should never
play You can't put him in odd Okay, well he played.

(03:01):
He played pretty well this weekend, didn't he. We told
you they were going to play him. We told you
they had to see what he was and what they had.
I guess they have something now that is pretty embraceable.
Chris Taylor is coming around. He looked pretty good. He
hit the ball, and last week we had people calling him,

(03:22):
I'm planning this guy to be run out of town.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Right now, I knew that was gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
That's the end of that.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Okay, those callers pissed you off, didn't they just be honest? Like,
were you a little bit annoyed with just the reaction
to Chris Taylor? Because it does feel like those callers
got into your skin a little bit.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
You asked me that last week.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I said, no, Okay. You know what though, if you
lied last week, but you told the truth this week,
it eliminates the life from last week. So we were
all square here, Sarah.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yeah, that did that bothered me last week.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Like at some point though, but I was on your
side because at some point, look like there's going to
be downfalls or like little pits, and you know they
call peaks and valleys and all that. So like it's
a long season, there's gonna be moments to where a
guy maybe isn't playing that well. Like we kind of
joke about it, but it was a real discussion early
in the year when it was, well, shoe Hee Otani's

(04:17):
batting average, he's batting like three thirty or whatever it was.
But with runners in scoring position, he was at this, this, this,
and this. Bro it's one hundred sixty two game year.
They've dealt with travel, They've dealt with a degenerate gambler
stealing from their best player. They've dealt with injuries, They've

(04:38):
dealt like, there's all sorts of stuff that comes up.
Not everybody's gonna bat five hundred all the way through.
People are gonna go through injuries, they're gonna come back strong,
and not every player's the same player we talked about
Max Munsey. Max Munsey came back after he was out
for a significant amount of time and just started ripping
the baseball. It took Chris Taylor a little bit of time,

(05:00):
but this is why he was in that spot against
the Orioles when he hit a ball real hard, but
it was a line out and everyone was like, well,
why is he in that place? Freddie Freeman should be
in that spot. Well, no, like Dave Roberts wanted to
give Chris Taylor an opportunity he did to continue to
work through it. It looks like it paid off. And
then he wanted to make sure that he had Freddie
Freeman rested for the more important series, which was the Diamondbacks.

(05:24):
He did and fred I don't know if you saw
the same thing I saw, but it seemed like that
worked as well too. Dave Roberts is having a hell
of a year.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, Dave Roberts made the right moves now, granted, leaving
Robleski out there for you know, really he was like
bleeding to death.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, nobody's perfect, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Yeah, so, I mean that's an issue. But aside from that,
Aside from that, it was a terrific weekend. Let's talk
about Shoeo Tani. Let's talk about what he did this weekend.
And it was you couldn't stop watching it, You could
not take your eyes off it. He did a home runner,
he'd steal a base. This guy is on a mission.

(06:01):
He is on a complete and total mission. He wants
to get to fifty to fifty. Yeah, and it is
so obvious, now, so incredibly obvious. I mean, he is
by far worth the price of admission, period. D m
Are you don't think Jonas. I don't think in any
sport right now, there's anyone bigger than shoe Heyotani in

(06:24):
any sport. Patrick Mahomes in the NFL, I think Otani's
bigger for baseball.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I would agree with you in the sense that if
look like we saw, and we've seen it in recent
years Tom Brady retired, NFL just kept on rolling, Like
you know, Patrick Mahomes, if something were to happen to him,
yeah it would. It would hurt the Chiefs, But you've
still got enough great quarterback playing the league and enough
stars in the league to where the NFL is so

(06:50):
powerful that it would just keep on rolling. If Shoey
Otani went down with an injury, that would be one
of your two players in the league. And it's probably
not even close that goes down and we don't get
a chance to witness potential history and going for fifty
to fifty. Which here's what's crazy about the pace that

(07:13):
he's on. It seemed like it was like a few
days ago where Vic the Brick was calling out forty
forty I mean, and now that's like, oh yeah, that
was great. That's like in the rearview mirror, like that
was accomplished what a week ago, and now he's off
and run and looking to get towards fifty to fifty.
And I do think it's kind of interesting because the

(07:34):
way that you laid that out, it's almost as if
you're accusing Shoeo Tani of stat chasing? Is that what
you're doing, Like he sees a milestone and he's all
about the stat.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
No, No, not at all. I just think he's very focused.
First he wants to win, and second he wants to
get to those milestones. And he is so driven and
so focused. It is so much fun to watch. And again,
he played in Anaheim and he'll be back down there tonight.
But there was never the kind of interest or excitement,

(08:05):
and he was the most exciting guy in baseball. Nothing
compares to what's going on right now with him. Nothing.
And maybe it's the Dodger brand, but my god, you
have to watch him.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yeah, but it's more than the Dodger brand. It's he's
lived up to all the expectations and all the hype
that's come along with it, and then some like and
I think that says a lot about just him. And look,
I know I keep bringing this up, but I don't
think people like really factor this in in the whole conversation.

(08:36):
His best friend stole millions of dollars from him, like literally,
like that was his guy, trusted and everything, and he
found out on a trip to Japan that his friend
was stealing millions upon millions of dollars to him and
lying to his face and shoheo tan. He's just kind
of been like, man, that sucks. Let me just go

(08:57):
out and do fifty to fifty this year while I'm
rehabing to come back from an elbow surgery so that
I can pitch next year. And also I'm throwing off
a mound. The whole thing's bananas, like it doesn't make sense,
Like this is not normal, Like we've never seen this before,
and it's happening in our own backyard. And the funny

(09:18):
part is it was in our own backyard for years
and nobody bothered to lift up the rock and go,
oh yeah, that's pretty cool. Look at that. That's like
a lot of money.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Dude.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
This guy is special and he's lived up to everything
and been beyond what anybody expected him to be at
this point in time.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
It's been fully remarkable, so much fun to watch he
goes down to Anaheim tonight, and again I think the
fans down there have no animosity toward him for leaving.
Oftentimes a guy leaves and there's a bad taste in
the fans mouth. I don't think there's any animosity with
the fans towards Shoho Tani, but I think it will

(09:56):
reinforce the animosity that they have toward on him Reno.
And I'll also be curious to see because if you
watch those games in Arizona, you saw that it was
a Dodger crowd. I mean every time they would take
the shot of the batter and you'd look into the crowd,
people were in blue. It was as loud, if not

(10:17):
as as loud for the Dodgers as it was for
the Diamondbacks. And now I'm curious to see what happens
tonight in Anaheim. How many Dodger fans are going down
there for that one. What will the stadium look like
tonight in Anaheim. I wouldn't be surprised if it's sixty
five seventy percent Dodger fans.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Now I'm looking at average attendance on the year thus far,
and I mean, I don't know how that is this
just you know, just based on tickets sold? Or is
this you know? But it shows that the Angels on
average at home do a little over thirty thousand. I
don't know about you, but that seems a little far
fetched to be honest with you. It doesn't seem like
thirty thousand is inaccurate number for the Angels. But I

(10:58):
think this will probably be one of their best crowds
all year, Like what else would be? What else would
be a better draw than this one if you're an
Angels fan, unless people are just so pissed off they
don't even want to show. They don't want to give
the team their money since their money didn't go towards
resigning show Hey Tani and they say screw it, and
then the Dodgers really take that place over. I mean,

(11:19):
what do you expect it to be? If you had
to guess right now, attendants at Angel Stadium, what do
you think it is?

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Well, what's at sea? Let's try that efforting right? What
forty forty five?

Speaker 2 (11:31):
Something like that?

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Okay, I'd say it'd be pretty close to a sellout
tonight and tomorrow, pretty close. I think the Angel fans
will want to lament and perhaps.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yeah, a little over forty five thousand fifty.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
All right, I'm gonna say it'll be forty five thousand tonight.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Oh you can't sell out?

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Yeah, and they'll want to remon is about what was?
The Angel fans would show up and the Dodger fans
will show up and just start laughing, just burst out laughing.
I mean, when he comes to the plate, what happens
homers against the Angels? What if he hits two homers
and steals three bases?

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I mean, are you saying, are you saying that Joey
Tani's gonna try and go for fifty to fifty against
the Angels? Could you imagine if you pulled that off
against the Angels? What a miserable existence to be an
Angels fan. I mean, it'll be tough to do in
a two game series, but man like, I'm not putting
anything past him. And somewhere Kevin Figures is looking going,

(12:35):
Why'd I pick them?

Speaker 3 (12:36):
You know?

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Like, of all the teams I could have picked grown up,
I could have picked the Dodgers, but instead Kevin Figures
decided I want to be an Angels fan. Like, and
now he's got to wear that as well too. And
I think part of you, because you are a sick bastard,
I think part of you likes the fact that the
Angels are struggling with this and are so distraught about
the performance of show Heyotani, because I think you like

(12:57):
looking Kevin in the eyes every day and going So
you're an Angels fan, huh, Like you love rubbing that in.
I think I think that's part of your motivation here
to see show Hey do well? The series?

Speaker 1 (13:07):
All right? So years ago, my son Jack, I think
maybe he was turning nine or ten, and what he
wanted to do. Blad Guerrero was playing for the Angels
and he wanted to go to an Angel game for
his birthday. So we actually got a sweet and we
took Jack and his friends and off the Anaheim. We
went to watch the Angels on his birthday and they lost.

(13:30):
They lost on his birthday. He's like nine or ten
years old, and he's screaming, these guys are a bunch
of bums. They stink on his birthday.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I wonder where he got that from.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
That wasn't me? Yeah, and that you know, that was
a scarring moment that I'll always carry with me. My
son in tears on his birthday because the Angels lost,
and now look at what they've done. They lost the
greatest player in baseball history.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
You see, yeah, I mean yeah like that. You know
when I think when people like this is the new
you know, Babe Ruth traded from the from the Yankees
or from the Red Sox, like this is the new one,
like this is the crew, I do wonder how long
this sets them back? Are we looking at the show,
hey curse, like this is going to be on the
same the same level as that to where we're looking

(14:17):
back years from now and going, hey, remember when the
Angels basically like decided, you know, we're gonna move away
from show? Hey Otani people, by the way, people could
sit there and say, oh, well, you know it was
seven hundred million dollars. What were they supposed to do,
I don't know, figure out a way to keep him?
I don't know, Like, it's not like you didn't have
enough time. It's not like you didn't have enough opportunity
to try and get that done. And we were making

(14:38):
the point last week when it did seem like and
I almost I credited them last year when they made
the decision, we're not going to trade Otani. We're going
for it. And it was right after they made that
decision they took a crap in their pants. What the
hell season?

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Yeah, they went.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
It was almost like the baseball gods were like, listen,
you really need to trade this guy. He's not going
to be here next year. Do what's right for your
fan base. Ah, yeah, whatever, baseball guys, we'll get back
to you, okay, lightning strike and the season went to
crap immediately right after they made that decision. And now
they're just having to deal with the fact that man,

(15:20):
you know, drove up a little bit, you know, depending
on where you're driving from, maybe what an hour in traffic,
you know, some days goes there. And now he's off
to a fifty to fifty near start, and there's a
good chance he's going to get it and it'll happen
in his first year with the Dodgers. Good for him.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I wonder if they're still selling Otani jerseys down in Anaheim.
Earlier in the year I was told they were, I.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Mean, do we have anybody in Anaheim that could like
maybe go to the pro shop there and like let
us know, like how and what do you do you
think they because you know, like when a guy gets traded,
you can get his jersey for a discount rate because
he's no longer a remember of the team.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Wait a minute, I seem to remember Jonas earlier in
the year. Somebody was talking about it. I think they
marked him up. They didn't sell them at a discount, because.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Think about it, Why wouldn't you, like, look if if
Shoeo Tani left and it was like are the guy left?
And you know he went somewhere and he was just
a shell of himself, you know, the rest of his career.
Like Anthony Rendon jerseys in Washington, I can almost promise
you those aren't at full price. Okay, Like those are
no longer at full price. When Trevor Bauer and the

(16:27):
Dodgers made decisions to part ways, Trevor Bawer jerseys were
not going at full price. Show Heyo Tani. Though we're
looking at maybe the greatest season in the history of
Major League Baseball. Why would they knock those prices down
on a show Heyo Tani jersey. He's not with the
team anymore. It doesn't matter that thing's gonna be worse
something someday that's a throwback, that's a vintage jersey, So

(16:49):
you probably have to still pay the same amount, if
not more, for an Otani jersey. So you're not getting
a discount from us. Not happening, right, all right?

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Listen, if there are Angel fans, If there are Angel
fans listening now, and I have the courage to weigh in, no,
I it just popped into my mind. A six six
nine eighty seven two five seventy.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
By the way, Fred, do you really think Angel fans
are listening to this show after we've been wearing their
ass out for the time.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Well we'll find out. I mean there are people in
Orange count it. Listen to the show. If you are listening,
please weigh in next and tell us how you feel
about Otani returning to Anaheim tonight at eight six six
ninety seven two five.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
And now, can they give a fake name if they
don't want to admit to on the air that they're
actually an Angels fan?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Absolutely? Okay, absolutely right. If you are an Angel fan
or you have heard of the Angels and you have
thoughts on Otani leaving but coming back tonight, what does
that mean to you? How does that make you feel?
A six six nine eighty seven two five seventy. Now
a word from Jacob. If you get into an accident

(17:57):
with a commercial van or truck or an eighteen wheeler,
do not try to deal with the insurance company on
your own. Trust me, the last thing you want to
do the next day is accept the first offer they
call you with. Those commercial drivers have special licenses to
operate their vehicles, and they also have to log their
daily activity with their employer. So if you're injured in
an accident caused by an eighteen wheeler or commercial vehicle,
you need to call Jacob, our friend. Jacob and his

(18:18):
team know what to look for, whether the driver had
driven too long without a break, or the load he
was carrying was unbalanced. There are many ways for Jacob's
team to hold the commercial vehicle company responsible. By doing so,
they're able to get you the medical care and settlement
you deserve, not the one their insurance company wanted you
to accept twelve hours after the accident happened. And if
you prefer to meet face to face, Jacob's team can

(18:40):
come to you, or you can go to Jacob's office.
When you call an attorney, you want one who was respected.
Call Jacob he's the real deal. And remember the consultation
is free. Call Jacob at eight four four to twenty
four Jacob eight four four twenty four Jacob, or visit
Calledjacob dot com. All right, six nine eighty seven. Does

(19:03):
anybody have the courage to weigh in about what it
feels like right now? Is an Angel fan? With Otani
returning to Anaheim. If anyone chooses to call, we'll talk
to you next. Jonas knocks in today for Rodney. Really,
the whole board is full.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
There's that many Angels fans.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Okay, that was not proper.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Well, I mean, let's be honest here. Why why I
really think I mean that's a fair question to ask.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Well, we didn't know, but now we know. Well, let's
hear it all right, Angel fans, how do you feel? Show?

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Otani returns to Anaheim tonight. Joe and Fullerton, thanks for
holding go ahead.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
Say what's up, guys?

Speaker 5 (19:46):
How are you doing?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
It's having Joe?

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Oh good, Joe.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
I would say this like, yeah, it sucks. I got
up a hardcore I'm from Anaheim, so I'm a hardcore
Angel fan. But at the same time, I don't really
care because I hate moreno in a way like I hope,
I mean I hope that things that happened to this
team so it could finally get to him. Well, he
just gets tired of it. He sells a team I

(20:10):
don't want to know went under him, and then he'll
be talking about selling the team. I'm moving the team
to Long Beach for Arizona. He should not the owner.
After the top numbers?

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Watch all right, especially.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
All right, Joe, we got the sentiment. By the way,
we got the sentiment. Thanks man, you appreciate the call.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Imagine the balls on Arnie Moreno if like he already Moreno,
if he just announced after the season, like after this
year with Otani doing what he does. Yeah, we just
don't think we get the fans support. We're worthing about
moving the team. That would be sweet. I almost admire
the balls on a guy like that to make that
move in that decision.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Then, No, you want to know what takes balls for
him to show up at the game tonight?

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Maybe now does he Do you think that he throws
out the first pitch?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Good chance that won't. Maybe let o'ny throw out the
first pitch.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
That would be so can you imagine that like they
go now here for the ceremonial first pitch, Artie Moreno, Like,
what do you think the reaction would be?

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Not good?

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Not good? God, I wish that was the case.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Let a Tony throw out the first pitch?

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, why so?

Speaker 3 (21:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Okay, bring Dcoy back to throw out the first pitch.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
To me, you know that is good. Does anybody have
on the Angels, Arty Moreno sent out an email earlier.
Does anybody on the Angels have a better trained dog
than Decoy? Because congratulations, you're gonna get to throw out
the first pitch. If you've got a dog that can
do a cartwheel on his way to the mound, please
let us know. Because you're going to deliver the first pitch.
We could show Otani and his dog who's boss around here.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Chris and Burdbank, thanks for holding go ahead? Hey, Christian
there all right.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
I'm Chris from Irvine.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Oh Chris from Irvine, it says bird Bank. Go ahead, Chris.

Speaker 7 (21:56):
I've been an Angel season take it Older since the
nineteen eighty. It took us years to tell already what
we want a season ticket holders. Because my friends who
are Dodger season ticket holders, they get early access to
the Stadium. We finally got that as Angel season ticket
holders this year, and it's gonna be eighty twenty eighty
percent Dodger fans and probably twenty percent at best Angel

(22:17):
fans because we usually sell our tickets because Dodger fans
tell me that it's a pain in the butt to
go to Dodgers Stadium and Angel Stadium.

Speaker 8 (22:24):
Is much more easy access.

Speaker 7 (22:26):
There's certain areas by the breweries where you can park
for free, and I don't really want to get into
a fight. And as far as Otani leaving the.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
Angels for the Dodgers, yeah, it's like my boyfriend breaking
up with me to go hook up with a bear
hotter girl friend.

Speaker 6 (22:42):
So I don't blame I don't Chris.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Chris, Chris, you can never say that because you're the
hottest girl there is.

Speaker 6 (22:52):
I me that thoughts.

Speaker 8 (22:53):
So, I mean, I still like to watch Otani stats.
I mean, I still have a seven game plan for
the Dodgers, so I I mean, because I'm still a
huge Mookie Bets fan. So but it's like watching It's
like watching my ex boyfriend ate somebody else.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
All right, Chris, thanks.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
For the call. Hey wow, Fred, way do you get
aggressive there high and tight by by Fred Rogan.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Well, no, I didn't want her to diminish or demean
I wanted her to know she's the best.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Oh okay, well, I mean, you know, just you know,
felt like maybe there was something else going on there.
Now I would say this, yeah, to her point. Sure,
we've mentioned this before. The one advantage Angel Stadium does
have over Dodger Stadium easy access. It is, it is
pretty nice getting in and out of there, like.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Yeah, but then but the point is it is, but
then you have to want to go.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
There, Okay, well geez, like you can't have everything, okay,
like you know, like not not like it's easy access.
And she makes the point like I went to a
Monster GM event there. You just park at one of
the breweries across the way, you get out of there,
make a couple of you know, hang a right next thing,
you know, you're on the freeway. You're headed back home.
It's just it's it's easy to do. I don't know

(24:04):
if that changes during an Angel's Dodgers game, you know,
I don't know if that if that changes the dynamics
of all that, but you know, to to that it
is a little bit easier to get in out of
the stadium. I'll say that, all.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Right, Ernesto in Montclair, come on, or Nesto, what do
you think?

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Hey, what's up, guys?

Speaker 6 (24:21):
Thanks for taking my call. Honestly, man, I'm like with
the other two callers, Arny Morano literally blew the opportunity
to have the greatest player in baseball history.

Speaker 7 (24:31):
That he blew it.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
So he's got to go.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
I mean hard to argue that he blew it.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
That that's the fair sentiment.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Yeah, hard to argue that he blew it.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
I mean, like, look at it this way. Red Sox
fans who you know, like, I mean, they've they're spoiled with,
you know, legendary baseball player, Like if you've got a
rich tradition, they've won World Series, they've gotten over the curse,
they've gotten all that. They still let their front office
have it over the fact that they couldn't figure out

(25:02):
a way to keep Mookie Betts. And Mookie Betts is
a great player and he's going to be a Hall
of Famer. He hasn't done what Otani's done, and it
wasn't right up the road. And there's no history of
winning outside of the one World Series back what twenty
two years ago at this point, So like, this is
one of the all time whiffs by an organization and

(25:25):
an owner in a long ass time. It's not like
this is worse than Look when Charlotte traded Kobe traded
the rights to Kobe Bryant to the Lakers for Vlaide.
When they did that, yeah, you assumed that he was
going to be a great player, and he had all
the potential to be, but you didn't know. You knew
what o'tani was like you literally it was all right
in front of you. You knew how great he was.

(25:46):
He had proven his worth, he had proven it on
the big stage in the WBC, Like you knew what
you had and still couldn't figure out a way to
get it done. One of the all time whiffs we've
seen in a long time.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Jonathan in Anaheim, Donathan, thanks for holding go ahead?

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yeah, what's up, guys?

Speaker 9 (26:05):
I was born and raised Anaheim, so always been an
Angel fan.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
Already blew it twice last year.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
He should have sold the team, right, that didn't happened.
But instead of.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
Doing what everybody told me to do, to trade o'
tawny and just be mediacor get whatever back. He went
for it, and all Anger fans were excited. We're all
pumping fists and loving it.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
But man, just like you said the very next day,
that angel just went to ship.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Oh oh god, all right, thanks, thanks Charad, Fred, Why couldn't.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
You have blown your nose on air when he said that?

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Thanks? Thanks, tond here's.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
You know, you know what. But but to his point,
he's right.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
He nailed it.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh man.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Here here's where I will disagree with one thing you said.
You know when they made the last part, well, no,
the last part was fine. Okay, you couldn't hear it
on the air, but the last part was fine. You
know when you said, hey, they're going for it and
everybody was fist pumping. They were never going to get
to where they were going. They were on the outside
looking in, clinging trying to crawl into the playoffs. They

(27:23):
were never solidified. They were never in a position where
if they lost a couple they were fine. They were
on the outside looking in. It was a just really
poorly calculated gamble to do what they did.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
It's one of the don't you wish that you could
find like and I know we'll never find this out.
But I would love to know what the best offer
was on the table for the Angels last trade deadline
for Sho Heo Tani. I would love to know what
that looked like. And I get that, look, if you're
taking prospects, it's like a lot of scratchers. You know,

(27:59):
they be hit or miss, and a lot of time
it's miss. And we've seen that here with the Dodgers
when they've made moves over the past several years. But
I would love to know what the best offer was
on the table and just sort of like way out
what the options were at that point in time, because
you tried to go for it, it went away in
a hurry right after you decided you were going to

(28:21):
make the commitment to the second half of the season,
after the All Star or after the trade deadline. What
was the potential return that you could have gotten had
you adel show hire Tani. I would love to know that,
And I just don't think we'll ever find that out
because why would they Why would they want to tell
anybody based on the fact that he left, Why let
anybody know what the return would have been.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
The mistake was not that they didn't trade him at
the trade deadline. That wasn't really the point. The mistake
was they didn't trade him before the season started. That's
when they could all come in with a huge hole.
That was their error instead of trade him before the
season started, because now we know you were never going
to resign him anyway. You sat there with him and

(29:08):
then you didn't move him before the trade deadline when
you would have had less. The mistake was not getting
rid of them before the start of last season. And
I said it then.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
I also wonder if they went to show hey Otani
at that point in time last year and look, maybe
he didn't know what he was going to do. I
think he did. I think he was you know, he'd
always had his eyes on the Dodgers. Like listen, like,
when did the discussion first start about Otani becoming a Dodger,
well over a year ago?

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Correct, Yeah, well the Dodgers weren't it the first time.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
And so when he made the decision to go to
the Angels, because there was a short list, it was
the it was the Dodgers, It was the Angels. I
think the Cubs might have been on that list. The
Yankees obviously, and the Blue Jays.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
Were exceptionally frustrated because some there thought they had them.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yeah, and then so I just like when did the
conversation because I think Otani, after he and some time
with the Angels, maybe saw what the Dodgers had to offer,
saw that maybe he got a taste of it during
any of their matchups and was like, yeah, that would
be something I'd be interested in. I wonder if they
went to him last year and said, what are we thinking,
because we've got to make a decision for this year

(30:15):
and we want to know whether or not we've got
a real shot at retaining you if we make a move.
And I just I find it hard to believe that
Otani would have still stayed with the Angels had the
deals been the same, had after the season we discussed
it last week, had the Angel said, well match the offer,
I still think you would have chosen the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
I just he was asked that by Japanese media and
his response was, I'd like to focus on what we're
doing here right now. So well, that doesn't help now,
Brad and mission Vahill, go ahead, what do you think.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
Think? Always loved the show real quick. I bought tickets
to the night's game six months ago, love Otani, loved
the Angels. Me and my two boys are going tonight
buying home play. Can't eight interesting enough. I know there's
a lot of banging going on on Angel fans, but listen, guys,
that thirty thousand average attendance this year, Jonas is spot on.
I went Saturday night and there was thirty four thousand.

(31:11):
And if you guys look at attendants, even with all
the nonsense, with moreno the last five, six, seven years,
the Angels are always in the top ten in Major
League Baseball average attendant. So I just love going to
the ballpark rooting for the young guys. I try to
take a positive spin on it. I'm a sucker, but
I love the night at the ballpark man, and I'm
rioting for the young Angels.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Okay, now, can I just ask you a follow up?
Have you noticed a big difference in the ballpark this
year as opposed to when Otani was there? What's the
drop off?

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Like hundred percent? Jones? Just the vibe right, just the anticipation,
And that's why we're going tonight. I just love watching
Otani and the other reason, guys you just talked about it,
The reason why I don't think he signed with the
Dodgers way back when he was coming on board with
the Angels, they did not have the DH in the
national age.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
At that time.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
You're exactly right, the.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
Biggest thing I think, right, yep.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Yep, all right, thanks for the call, appreciate it. Let's
do one more real quick here, Mike and Irvine. Mike,
thanks for holding. Go ahead, all right, let's go Robin Orange, Rob,
are you there?

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Go ahead?

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (32:17):
Yeah, Robin Orange an old time angel from back in
gym for goosie days. So yes, I'm not saying a
half to a minute.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Okay, Is that all you have?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
All right?

Speaker 1 (32:28):
That's it all right.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
But by the way, my name is Rob, him from Orange,
and I'm an alcoholic, right, I mean really, I.

Speaker 6 (32:40):
Don't blame I don't blame a towny for leaving one bit.
I just best wished this for him. My wife and daughter,
they're big Dodger fans, and they keep asking me, why
are you root for the Angels? That's all I got.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Because it's you like pain? All right?

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Well, oh geez, like good bye. You don't have to Rob.
What do you say You act like the Angels are
his Dominatrix? Come on, Fred like, come on, all right,
let's just do one.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
I don't want to hear your dominatrix talk. All right,
one more? Uh many in ocean side? Go ahead?

Speaker 9 (33:08):
Manny, Hey, guys like along Angel fan, what do you
want to know?

Speaker 1 (33:13):
What do we want to know?

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Yeah, fred go ahead, I want to know what it's like.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Are you mad that the Angels lost Otani? And how
do you feel about that that he's playing for the Dodgers?

Speaker 9 (33:23):
Okay, I think there's two takes on there. Freddy got
the capital fan take and you got the hardcore baseball guy.
So what if we had a Watani and the Angels
will be twenty games out of first instead of thirty?
It really doesn't matter the hardcore Angels guys. I mean,
the team is terrible. You know, it only hurts if
the Dodgers going. I hate the Dodgers with passionate I'm
not afraid to say. If you guys go on to
win a chip, it only hurts if you want a chip.

(33:45):
That's all I got, A right goodbye.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
I mean, by the way, the previous caller does make
a point. Some people do just like going to the ballpark,
like I still like it, Like it's it's fun, Like
even if you don't have a rooting interest. It's why
people like to go to spring training. Like sometimes you
just want to go to the ballpark or go to
a minor league game. You just want to go relax.
It's one of the more relaxed vibes at a sporting
event that you can have. You go to Kings games,

(34:08):
They're always intense. Yeah, every single game you go to
is intense. The Lakers. You go see a Laker game,
it's all about the crowd and wanting to be seen
and all that. But you go to the ballpark, you
go see a baseball game, Dodgers, Angels, even pet Coast beautiful.
Like you go there and you're like this is sweet,
Like you can just kind of sit back, get a dog,
get a beer, enjoy the game. And the fact that

(34:31):
they go by quicker Now I think, you know it's
better for the family as well too.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
You know, if a team loses, the owner can actually
make more money. Look at Donald Sterling, what do you
own the Clippers? I mean why they lost every year
and you know what he made money?

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Why do you do this?

Speaker 1 (34:45):
No, I'm just saying, if you'll lose as an owner,
you can actually make money.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Yeah, but you don't need to like draw a line
in the sand between you and Adam and like you
take these little shots you think he's not gonna spell.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Oh my god, I thought I forgot Adam was even here.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Anything before Balmer, I've just cleared the mechanism. I have
no idea what happened right through away the memory card. Yeah,
I got the men in black whatever thing that erased
my memory. I mean, look, I just think if you're
an Angel fan, I do like their perspective. But it's
got to be a little bit frustrating to sit there

(35:21):
and go, oh, yeah, remember him, that was ours once,
could have been ours for longer, but we screwed the pooch.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
All right, next hour, you think the Angels are bad,
there's a really, really bad team. And I have a theory,
and I think all fans should embrace my theory. And
I've talked about it in the past at Nanaheim Dodgers
and Angels. I'd get started at six thirty, so the
pregame show will be on at five thirty, and Petro

(35:58):
some Money will jump on here at two o'clock to
take you up to the pregame show.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
All right, and now.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
From the court to the court room with Jacob em Ronni.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
No our weekly visit with our good friend Jacob em Ronni. Jacob,
how are you today?

Speaker 3 (36:13):
I am doing fantastic. How was your Labor Day weekend?

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Mine was good? How about you, Jonas?

Speaker 2 (36:18):
I was good, just worked, you know, same old. I
have no life, so that's pretty much all I got
at this point.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
It's Labor Day, you should labor good point. Yeah, yeah,
you had a pretty good weekend with USC winner.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Huh Jacob, Oh my god, that was such a fun
game to watch. And you know, I had a good time.
I was in Orange County for the weekend and I
was at a restaurant and I never knew, oh see
how so many USC graduates but that that restaurant was
rocking and rolling. And when we got that touchdown, it

(36:51):
just sealed, you know, a nice a nice win and
a nice way to start our season.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
Did it feel good knowing too that while everybody was
having discussions about soft USC soft they can match up
physically in the Big Ten. What are they going to
do against an SEC team? To open up the year
like that where they showed some real fight, you had
to take some pride in that now.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
Absolutely, you know, I think it's important to understand that
obviously the organization knew they have to have a big
offensive line to be able to go and start, you know, competing,
you know, just a really a different league the way
I look at it. But the fact that our quarterback,
you know, this is the second, you know, second time
he's had an opportunity to really bring them home in

(37:35):
a meaningful game, and you know, it could have been
very easy for them to just fold after being down
with such a little time coming down and not settling
for just wanting to get the field goal, but actually
pushing the envelope and actually going in for the touchdown.
Those are all good signs of what you know, USC

(37:56):
was not doing last year. And you know, as a
court of as our quarterback said, you know, the goal
this season was not just to beat LSU. It's a
nice start. Now we just hope they can continue it
because they do have one of the toughest college football schedules,
so you know there's going to be ups and downs,
but it was a great start.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
How poised did Moss look at quarterback, Well, he looked
like he was comfortable and he had been there for years.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Just amazing. You know, I think after last year and
knowing Caleb was leaving, and everyone you know, as usual
didn't give Moss, you know, credit for being the guy
who could be the number one quarterback for USC. And
throughout the summer I heard through a lot of you know,
my friends who you know are inside with the decision

(38:42):
makers over there about why they've not gone out through
the transfer portal and brought a name while all these
names are moving around. But you know, it's nice to
be able to allow somebody who's homegrown be given an
opportunity and you know, for him to I mean you
could see the you know, the kid was emotional after
winning that game, and that's just the first game of

(39:02):
the season, so you know that he's in it one
hundred percent and you can't teach heart, you can't teach leadership.
And that was a nice way. You know, that was
a nice way to see it come to an end
and now we go next week and see what's up.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
It did appear that USC fans traveled well to Las
Vegas as well, too, Like they they fill that place
for good. They were rock and rolling. That was a
fun watch.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
It was a fun watch. I appreciate that too, because
I was watching it and saying, let's see because usually,
you know, you got the LSU fans going everywhere, and
the fact that the USC showed up I think made
a big difference. You know, the crowd in any sport,
in any game, makes a big difference for the players.
Doesn't matter if it's college football, doesn't matter if it's
you know, professional sports. If you talk to any of

(39:45):
these athletes, they say that, you know, part of their engine,
you know, is revved up by how the crowd is.
And I think that's a great point.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
And also the where that stadium is located, and it's
one of the more convenient setups because it right across
the way from Mandalay Bay, So you just spill out
of that stadium and you're right there on the strip
like ready to go, Like you can literally walk to
My boss, Scott Shapiro told me a story he went
to a Vikings Raiders game. He said he left the

(40:15):
stadium and in ten minutes was sitting down and playing
Blackjacke at a table, Like it's so convening. So if
you were a USC fan, you got after it this
weekend and whatever whatever a map. Maybe you won on
the game. If you were betting on the game there
in Las Vegas, you probably gave all back to the
casino right afterwards. It should be noted.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
I will tell you something your boss wasn't had a
much better experience because I went to a Raider Green
Bay game when I was up there last year at
the and it's great to get in, but if you're
staying there until the end of the game, trying to
get out of that place, you think that that ridge
over to Mandala Bay is going to collapse?

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Oh no, is It is crazy.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Trying to get out of that stadium if you day
until the end, because I don't know why they didn't
think it out. I mean, I've sent videos of that
to my friends. I'll forward it to you guys as well.
It's basically Sardine's you know, walking short, you know, shoulder
to shoulder trying to get out. But at the end
of the day, you know, h it is a good stadium,
it's a fun place to watch and it's you know,

(41:18):
where where can you find watching a nice game and
then being able to go into the casino or the
great restaurants that Vegas has that's why it continues to grow.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Hey, Jacoby, our listeners love when you offer some advice.
Why is it important, uh, for someone who gets in
an accident to call you before they call their insurance.
Why is that important?

Speaker 6 (41:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (41:38):
So you know it's you know, coming off the labor
day weekend. Unfortunately, you know, we come in on Tuesdays
and we get slammed a lot of accidents over the weekend.
People waiting until you know, they actually come back from
wherever they are to call. And I cannot tell you
how often the person who calls us said that immediately
after the accident, they got a phone call from the
insurance company wanted to talk to them, offering money. And

(42:02):
the one thing that a lot of people don't know
is that insurance companies have a specific department that is
specialized to call you after an accident, try to offer
you a couple of bucks and to try to get
you to sign on the dotted line and settle your case.
A lot of times they also try to ask you
to explain what happened, ask you if you're okay with,

(42:24):
you know, doing a recorded statement, which they will most
of the time use against you. So you know, what's
important for me for our listeners to know is that
when you're in an accident, you pain nothing by getting
on the insurance company to tell your side of the story.
You know, we give free consultations. You don't have to
pay us anything, you don't have to sign up with us,

(42:47):
none of that. But at least call us and walk
through your accident so we can tell you what your
rights are, so that when you do have that conversation,
if you decide to talk to the insurance company, you
don't say something that is going to, you know, make
you lose your rights. You want to be, you know,
not even on given putting. You want to have the

(43:07):
leverage in those situations. And a lot of times when
you do that without the counsel, you know of an
attorney or at least some advice, you are not going
to be in that position. And I can't tell you
how many people have thanked us for that because ultimately
their case was worth so much more than what the
insurance company offered them in that first phone call.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
Jacob, great advice. We appreciate you coming on good stuff today.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
Hey, great talking to you guys. Have a great week
and you know sports is revving up revving up. We're
forty nine days away from Blaker basketball, so there's a
lot of good stuff come in NFL starting. We're excited
and we're going to have a lot to talk about
this season, all right.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
So here's the deal. You know, when Corey Seger came
back to Dodger Stadium, they gave him a tribute. Right
when guys come back, they give them a little tribute,
a little welcome home. Justin Turner got a little welcome home,
all right,
