Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties, and today on Dana with producer Anthony, We've
got the three things you need to know to.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Get your Monday May eighteen started well.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Secret service has been all over Houston checking for skimmers
set up at ATM's point of sale terminals, gas pumps
and they found some fourteen skimming devices. They're trying to
protect travelers headed here for FIFA. It was a two
day operation. They say it prevented fourteen million being stolen
from US. And speaking of FIFA, the countdown continues. FIFA

(00:33):
now is using social media big time to highlight post
cities like Houston, and our inclusion is really reflecting Houston's
growing importance on the international sports stage and our reputation is.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
One of the most diverse cities in the US.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
And we're learning three Texas high school baseball programs have
withdrawn from the UIL postseason.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
What a bummer.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Two of them are defending state champions they confess to
ineligible play on their teams. Centerville High School, Poolville and
Grapevine are the three, thankfully none of them here in Houston.
And your weather today we've got some rain. Forty percent
chance is gonna go up to eighty eight. Yeah, warm,
muggy Monday. Right now, it's already eighty in Uptown, and

(01:15):
you're up to date. I'm sunny sunny ninety nine point
one with Dana in the morning, getting your day started.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Feeling good. Good God, surday, Give us your good news.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
What's may?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
A couple from Kansas so excited they make it to Galveston.
They're going on their dream cruise and uh oh, they
drop their keys, their house keys, their car keys into
the water sixty first Street.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Right by the fishing peers.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh my gosh, there is a marine veteran book jumps
into the water. What his name is, zach Norn? He literally,
I guess it was just like a reflex. He sees
them drop their keys.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
They're going, oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
He jumps into the dark water, actually recovers the keys.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Listen to them.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
He was interviewed after that and they're like, why did
you do that? And he goes, wow, you know, I
really thought it would be kind.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Of a hassle for them. They've got to find the kinis.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
It's going to take away.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
From their their cruise experience.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
I thought I could just take care of it right now,
he did so, Zach Noran, you are pretty spectacular.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Wows for Anthony Dane. This is really cool.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
We've been telling you about all the changes and upgrades
happening downtown ahead of the World Cup. Streets are decorated
with flags representing countries that are going to play at
least one Houston match. Main streets being transformed into this
promenade and another upgrade coming courtesy but company called root
Lab are the so called architectural trees. They're made of
metal pipes being molded into formation and it features a

(02:51):
nice big leaf cann leaf looking canopy at the top.
But the best part, Dane root Lab says, the canopy
beneath each leaf structure is expected to lower the street
temp by ten to fifteen degrees for people standing underneath.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
That's amazing.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
The crew root Lab has been working hard to complete
these structures since last summer. They plan to have these
lining Texas Avenue from the Bious toward East Downtown and
their goal for installation is this week. So if you
head downtown. Keep an eye off for these new architectural
trees and even cooler, they're going to remain a part
of our downtown scene long after the World Cup. So
something we could absolutely use here for our hot Houston weather.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I like, forget real people, we now have AI forget
real trees, we now have these metal root trees architectural trees. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I also love this really hard to break into the
sports drink industry really competitive. Well, there are two Houston
entrepreneurs who're all about fitness, mind focus and ingredients that
are all natural, and they've came up with this sports
drink called new Light no Lyte. It's got a thousand

(03:55):
milligrams of electrolytes.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
It's like intent and they.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Found these new tropic nootropic ingredients that they're saying is
going to set them apart from other sports drinks. Now again,
I said it was really hard to break into the
sports drink industry, but they're focusing on small spaces, local businesses.
New Lights already in thirty local businesses around town, blotty
studios and gyms, and you can check them out on

(04:22):
their website noo Lyte new Light dot com.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Check them out see if they're for you.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
And we always have our tell Me Something Good stories
up at Sunday nightety nine dot com also on the
iHeartRadio app, and you can definitely make us a first
prese that it makes it even easier feudalist to Sunday
nightety nine point on Sunday nighty nine point one, Houston's
best variety.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Of the eighties nineties. And today I'm data with producer Anthony.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
We've got some rain today, not as much as we're
going to have on Friday, though, actually every day is
going to be a rainy day this week, but today
forty percent chance going up to eighty eight. By Friday,
we've got an eighty percent chance, and it's only going
to go up to eighty and bringing in some cooler tempts.
Right now, it's muggy, might have some showers around. It's
already eighty in Uptown. And I've been talking to Anthony.
I did in the news a couple months ago when

(05:11):
we found out that Houston was going to have a
non stop flight to Italy.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I don't know if it's who's the ambassador Tilman for Tita.
I don't know if he had anything to do with it.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
You know, he is the ambassador to Italy now. But
I took ITDA. It's ita Ida Airlines. It was their
fourth flight Anthony overnight. You leave Bush Airport at six
pm and you arrive in Rome the next morning, so
you sleep on the flight, don't have to do first class.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Very comfortable. The food was phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
But my husband in setting us up on the app,
the app is still like they're still working through it.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
They're brand new.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Bob did not realize he put the wrong dates in
and they were not letting me get on the plane
because I didn't have a visa. Somehow Bob got the
dates where I was going to be staying there for
ninety days.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Oh whoa. And the app didn't it just alerted something
was wrong, but not what was wrong.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Sure, so there is the cutest guy there trying to
help out with this, and he's going, wait a minute,
Dana Tyson, no, wait are you?

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Are you on Sunday ninety nine point one? Name Calvin.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
He's been listening to us, Anthony since he was a
little boy. Oh my gosh, he is now running like
DA Airlines. That's incredible, that's so funny. That is funny.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
They popped on it. They blasted Bob. I blasted Bob,
of course, classic Bob move.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Got me on the flight and it was just it's
called ada Ita, it's Italian Airlines and it's a non
stop to it.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
That's amazing.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
When you when I remember you doing this story, and
I was thinking, like, first off, I guess I was
a little surprised that we didn't already have one.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
But the idea that you can.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Now just literally overnight and you're there and you were describing, Yeah,
I slept on the plane and woke up there, I am.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I'm like, whoa. It was phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
You got a nice little breakfast street in the morning,
phenomenal coffee. You get to Rome and then you can
go wherever you want to go from there. And the
thing is, before Ida Airlines, we had to go to
New York, I.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Layover for five hours. That's it.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
All has such a hassle. So in an effort to
have fun in your life, uh huh, DA Airlines is
making it possible.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
That's so good.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Another fun thing. And Kelvin you are just just a doll.
Thank you so much for listening with your mom. They
live out in Cyprus. Now, Mattress Mac is making his
way over here. He has got something coming up at
the end of the month for our veterans, so we'll
be talking to him soon too. Right here, I'm Sunny
Love Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's best variety of
the eighties nineties. And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony.

(07:46):
Got some rain around today and a really warm, muggy start.
Eighty now we're gonna go up to eighty eight. I
know right now. Like I said, it's eighty in Uptown.
We do have a forty percent chance of rain. Hopefully
Mack will make it in times. Got this big event
for our veterans for Memorial Day. Can't wait to talk
to them about that. But I did want to mention
we talked about having fun. Fifty percent of us don't

(08:09):
remember the last time we had fun for.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
An entire day, So sad well, we're going to give
your family fun for more than a day. Holks. We're
sending you a Walt Disney World.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
It's amazing. We want you to experience their cool kids summer.
This is pretty awesome. They've got the Blue making her
debut and the fully recharged Buzz, Light Year, Spin all
your favorite Disney characters as well too. And all you
need to do is get us a keyword and send
it to us through the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app.
And it's super easy to do. You just download the
app Sunny ninety nine point one. You're going to see

(08:39):
the red microphone right there at the top. Cap that
and record us record that keyword, send our weight. You
could be off to Disney World.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
It's so easy. And I'm going to have that first
keyword for you this morning, coming up at nine to forty.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
That's right. I'll give you the keyword and then you
have your app open and.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Ready, push that microphone and say that keyword and you
could be.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Off to walk Dney.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
So fun, cool kids Summer from Sunday ninety nine point.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
One Sunny ninety nine point one with Dana in the morning.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Here's what's trending right now in ashdown.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
So Swatch watches are still trending, Like I thought that
was a long time ago.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
No, they're back in a big way.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Yeah, there was this past weekend locally and across America.
There are these swatchwatch pop ups all weekend long lines.
People camping out. It happened here in Houston, were camping out.
So then there were several stores because there was such
demand that had to be shut down. One of them
the Swatchwatch here in the gallery, and the demand was crazy.

(09:39):
So what is it just the regular Swatchwatch. No, they
have done a collaboration with the Royal Pop collection. This
is a luxury collection. Now the other watch company, I
think it's from Paris. They're normally tens of thousands of dollars. Well,
they do this collab with Swatchwatch and they're selling the

(10:00):
these pocket watches for.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Four hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Okay, I don't know if it's worth camping out, but
a lot of people love them.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Now here's the deal.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
It's not a special edition limited time, so don't rush
to the store. It's back open, but you've got several
months to get your sites. Relax, take a deep breath,
have some fun. Yes, Swatch watches are trending here in Houston.
I'm Sunday nightighty nine point one.
