football is a way of life here in Texas, and
specifically girls flag football is becoming one of the fastest
growing sports in the state, including out at Katie ISD.
The district recently launched its first ever all girls flag
football team at the high school level, marking their inaugural season.
Katie ISD says they probably had about one hundred to
(02:54):
one hundred and twenty five kids try out at each campus,
with about fifteen or so athletes making each team. No surprise,
many of these players are multi sport athletes, bringing skills
from basketball, soccer, and track onto the field. And the
timing of this is perfect day and as flag football
is actually set to debut in the twenty twenty eight Olympics,
so there's even more doors opening at every level, from
(03:15):
local play to potential college opportunities, and we can't wait
to see what they build out in KATIEISD with their
new girls flag football team.
