Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sunny Natty nine Queen one Houston holiday music station. I'm
Dana with producer Anthony with the three things you need
to Know to get your Monday, December eighth started well.
Taylor Swift had a look of well, not quite discussed,
but she was very disappointed with our Texans because we
beat her fiance's team yesterday. C J. Stroud throwing for
two hundred and three yards and a touchdown. So the
(00:23):
Texans beat Kansas City twenty to ten, ending the chief
streak of consecutive AFC West Division titles. We are now
a gain back of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC
South Pretty cool and Prairie View A and M looking
good too, beating Jackson State twenty three to twenty one,
and that means they get the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship
(00:48):
title the first time since two thousand and nine. And
over the weekend we learned the fife of World Cup.
Now we're six months away the thirty nine day tournament.
We got the schedule released over the weekend. The tournament
opens June eleventh, one hundred and four matches including games
in eleven US cities and here in Houston. We've got
(01:08):
seven of them. First game is going to be June fourteenth,
the last game July fourth, So, man, is that going
to be exciting weather today, Chili, we're going to stay
in the fifties. Yeah, we're only going to go up
to fifty nine. Should be partly sunny. Right now, it's
fifty in Uptown and you're up to date on Sunny
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Holiday Music Station. It
(01:30):
is six twelve now. I'm Dana with producer Anthony. Much
cooler temperatures overnight. I was out doing my birpies this morning.
It was forty nine. Yeah, it's fifty now, but it's
going to only stay in the fifties today. Tomorrow we'll
start warming up, but today's high about fifty nine, and
so just enjoy it. It's Christmas y with the Christmas music.
You get your hot chocolate or coffee, put a little
(01:53):
whip cream in there, yepesious, and listen to some amazing
Christmas music. That's what happened to us. We had so
much fun. Friday after the show, George Bush High School
students came by and we're talking fourteen, fifteen and six
years sixteen year olds wanted to tour the radio stations.
So they come into the Sunny studio and I'm looking
at that. You know, this is a really hard group
(02:15):
to get to kind of engage with. Can beer bored?
They want to go get to their phones, of course.
But then we started playing Christmas music, Anthony, they got
into the spirit of the holidays, ty right there. So
this is what happens when you have fourteen, fifteen and
sixteen year olds in the city's Houston holiday station studios
(02:41):
and listen up jingle.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Jingle the way all what fun.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
More? Jingle bells, jingle bells? They all what's fund.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
There?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Cracking up. They're totally embarrassed, Anthony. You were taking a
video of all of this. It was beautiful, it was
so fun. It's up on Instagram at Sunny ninety nine Houston.
Some of them are so embarrassed. Others are totally loving
the And there was one in particular, I'd asked if
any of them are in the choir.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yes, this was the true this was the test. And
because there's always some singers in the group, always some singers.
And there was one brave souldine.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
And and what was his name? Dan Paul. He was
of me corner and he raised his hand. Actually I
didn't see him because he was over behind me to
my right. That's right. Kids in front of me are
pointing over to him, and I turn around and he's
kind of sheepishly raising his hand, and I said, are
you in the school choir? He goes, no, I'm in
(03:51):
the church choir. That's what it was. And I asked
him if he would sing us a Christmas song, and
well he had to get all ready. Now, Bert, he's
in a in a studio with strange DJs, all of
his classmates, and he was so courageous. Listen to him
getting ready for his big debut. It was amazing debut. Okay,
(04:14):
so you just let's do it. I do like a
little bit of like a reading exercise.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Yes, like a real singer.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Joy to the world. The Lord has come there received okay, let.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
And an angel scene and an angel see.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
And had it heavn and angels and I can't imagine
how nervous he oh no, indeed got his wits about him.
It was. He was amazing.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
And just a little side note, we did a little
Q and A with everybody on the sixth floor afterwards
and he sang again in front of you an even
bigger groups.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
There are over one hundred students. It was. He was amazing, incredible,
Dan Paul at George Buce you were awesome. You were
so and I was like, that is victory. That it
really was. I loved it so so glad that they
all came and spent some time with us and hopefully
had some good memories of the Christmas music station coming
(05:36):
up next memories made over the weekend and in League City.

the park ever. We're gonna tell you something good coming
up next time, Sonny, tell me something good brought to
us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well, congratulations to
the League City Lions Club putting on their best Holiday

miss out a reminder so fun. Hey, we're not going
to have to travel far for a college bowl game
this year. Some of you might even be able to
walk there. The Cougars face an LSU. What a game
that's going to be December twenty eighth at NRG Stadium.
Now Houston finished nine to three overall the Tigers seven
(07:48):
and five. Pretty hot bowl matchup because lots of Cougars fans,
lots of LSU fans. Game time again, it is December

(08:11):
That way, it makes it even easier for you to
listen to Houston's holiday music station, Sunday Natty nine point one.
Sunday naety nine point one is seven oh nine now
I dated with producer Anthony, and we are Houston's holiday
music station. Lots of Christmas music on a cold blestery day.
I mean the winds blew in last night and whoa,
it got cold. It's like it was in the forties overnight.
(08:33):
We're at fifty now We're only going to stay in
the fifties today. Fifty nine for the high and Anthony,
I'm checking out our Facebook right now at Sunday ninety nine. Houston.
Kind of a version of our nearly impossible question this morning?
Was it twenty two percent of us said we buy
ourselves a Christmas gift. The ones that admit it, yeah,
twenty two per se that number is way higher anyway,
(08:54):
our question should you treat yourself to a gift for Christmas?
I saw this last night and I said, these are
such great answers. I'm all about buying myself a gift
or two or more. We will be reading Monsters Monday
morning at seven ten, and I just love your responses.
Marvin said, well, I wait for Christmas. I buy myself stuff.
All that that is some energy I love so good.
(09:18):
And uh, let's see, Donna, I always buy myself a
gift and put a tag to me from me. I mean,
you know what own it is, He says. My gift
is seeing my kids open up their gifts, A look
at excitement on their faces.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Also true, that is I mean that is so sad. Yeah,
of course that's the gift. But every now and then,
you gotta get yourself something here and there.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
You know, Lindy says, I treated myself to new pillows,
a body pillow, tennis shoes, three outfits, translating ear pods,
and perfume. My kids are fresh out of college, in college, married,
and I have kids. I don't expect anything from any
of them, so I just take care of myself. My
happiness comes from their success. And my grandbaby smiles. That's beautiful.
(09:59):
I love that. So no expectation from the kids. Ye,
so you take care of yourself. Yeah, and if you can,
you give to all the kids who are in that
age of no money, no money exactly. We know what
that is. Yeah, I love that.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
And like with the Amazon Prime deals day, I mean,
it makes sense for you to just treat yourself. I mean,
you work hard all year and you're doing stuff everybody else.
A little treat here and there is just what you
need to keep going. Sometimes and then you can just
tell everyone I don't need anything exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
I love saying that to people. I don't because I don't.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
I don't want anything from anybody, because I'm like, I'm
like so many of these listeners where if I want it,
I'll find a way to get it for myself, you know, exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
So I don't want to burden anybody.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
I am.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
My love language is definitely gift giving. I love yours
and Jess totally. I've got my five kids on Nash
my fifth is always the hardest, and I just I
kind of give them a gentle nudge last night, Nash
isn't anything you and Claire, his wife would like for Christmas. Nope,
don't need anything. I'm like, oh, he's one of those. Yeah,
(10:54):
badly if I get the other kids stuff and not him,
help me. Like my daughter said, all the kids want
are nutcrackers. Okay, So I've been on the hunt at
like thrift stores for nutcrackers, and I'm thinking, Danny, thank
you for making it easy on me.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
But Nash Is, it's just a tough one of those
ones they give you nothing and you don't know what
to do.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
I'm thinking, like a gift card to the grocery store
and might be going to nash Exactly what about you?
Do you buy yourself a gift? Are you just saving
all your your money for friends and families? Be honest?
Seven one three two one two five ninety nine one.
Meghan Trainer is singing our tune literally Anthony, that is awesome.
(11:37):
All right. I'm Dana with producer Anthony on Sunday ninety
nine twenty one. It's seven twenty one now, and first
let's talk weather, because it's gonna be a chili day.
We're not even gonna get out of the fifties. Should
be come partly, Sonny. We're gonna go up to fifty
nine right now, it's fifty and uptown. Meghan Trainer says,
this year, I'm buying gifts for me. That's right. I'm
buying gifts for me because I've got myself, that's guaranteed.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
It's me.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
I love to please. They don't know what I need
this year, I'm buying gifts for me. It's an anthem
for so many people. I believe. I love it, and
so that's what we're asking you. Do you ever buy
Christmas gifts for you? And? Man, I think that anthem
is personified on our Facebook post this morning, and you
are all about, yeah, I know what I like, I'm
getting it. I do it every year. I work hard
(12:20):
and I'm buying gifts for me for sure. And we've
got Ariel calling in from the hobby area. Ariel, what
about you? Do you ever take a detour and buy
gifts for you? Yes?
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Absolutely, all the time.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
I will tell all the time things that you've you've
been shopping for others and you pick up for yourself,
share it with us.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Oh my gosh, No, I'm a chappoholic. I literally just
bought myself a sweat set, like a like a two piece.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Oh yeah, yeah, but you but your intention was to
get gifts for your family members, right, Oh?
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Absolutely? By Christmas list is so long. I have a
big family.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah. So you go out and you're looking and then
you're like, oh my gosh, I have to get this
for myself. It's so hard, right, yes, yes, it is you.
How do you turn it off? How do you just
say no more, Aeriel? What do you do?
Speaker 3 (13:12):
My bank account is like no more aerial?
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Yes, bank account, you go as long as you can, right, Yes,
have you found any amazing deals on your own Christmas gifts.
So far this year, I really.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Took advantage of Amazon's like prime, their prime early Black Friday,
and so that was awesome, you know the area.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
But then when people ask you what you want for Christmas,
you're kind of like, well, I just bought everything that
I needed, so I really don't need anything.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Yes, that's true, But I do have an Elster that
it's like an app and you put all your wishes
on it and people can look at it.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Wow, then they can just fly from there. And that's
on Amazon.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
You can put things from Amazon on there, but you
can also put things from like other website. You can
copy and paste curls and wow.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah, it's like kind of like a Pinterest word for
Christmas gifts that you want this year. Correct.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
Then you could also do like a secret Santas on there.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
That's great. And what's it called again? Elster? Elster that's
how do you spell it? E L F S T
e R. That's so cool. I'm gonna have to check.
I love that thing. We hope you have a very
merry Christmas. And how are you liking the Christmas music? Oh?
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I listen to you all the time, literally every day.
I haven't even changed my station.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Morning you did, Ariel. I hope you had the best
day and uh Merry Christmas to you and your big family.
Thank you Mary.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Christmas
