Sunday ninety nine point one, Houston's best variety of the
eighties nineties, and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
The three things you need to know to get your Tuesdays.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
Think but a mile. It's May fifth, it's also what
Revenge of the Revenge of the Star Wars Day, and
it's Teacher Appreciation Week and it should be so much
more than just a week. We want to thank all
you teachers for your sacrifices, your love for the students,
all the things that you do to help these kids succeed.
And so there are so many freebies for you all
week long. You've got Firehouse Subs, Buffalo Wild Wings, Waterburger,
(00:34):
Chick fil A, and of course us here at Sunny
a teacher getaway to Naples, Florida. Now you've got to
be nominated and if you win the getaway, the person
or the kids who nominated you get two hundred and
fifty dollars. You can check it out right there on
our homepage at Sunny ninety nine dot com. And another
fee Houston residents are going to have to deal with
if it passes. It's a proposal at this stage, but
(00:56):
city Council is going to take it up on their
meeting tomorrow. It's a five dollars garbage charge added to
your monthly bill. It's called the Garbage and Recycling Administration Fee.
Oh so it's five dollars now, but it could go
up to twenty five super fast. So we'll let you
know how that meeting goes tomorrow. This is pretty cool.
(01:17):
We've got this big Fourth of July festival that happens
every year here in Houston at Eleanor Tinsley Park and
the headliner for the Houston Freedom Over Texas Celebration Heath Urban.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
It's going to be amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Now you factor in the fact that there's going to
be a World Cup game at Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Oh my gosh, Houston Stadium. Is that what they're calling
it now?
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, same day as this big Fourth of July celebration.
It's probably going to be record breaking, kind of like
the Savannah Bananas at College Station, right, it's going to
be huge, massive, also performing Collective Soul and Lost Lonely Boys.
So something to look forward to. And weather today pretty
darn nice. It's starting now a little cloudy. We're gonna
go up to eighty five. The humidity's on its way
back too, right now seventy two and uptown and you're
(01:59):
up to date from Sunday ninety nine point one.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Sunny ninety nine point one with Dana in the morning,
getting your day started, feeling good, good.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Good, Give us your good news.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston. Well, there is the coolest exhibit going
on at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and it has.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
To do with food and jello mold.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
It is so cool and you're walking up to it
thinking is it jiggling?
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Is it real?
Speaker 1 (02:37):
No, it's not jiggling. It's not real. It's all fake food.
It's part of their exhibit called mid Century Menu Dining
in the Atomic Age. After the war, there is a
feeling of abundance and prosperity. People are moving out to
the suburbs, and there's hope and there's love, and there's
cookbooks and kitchen appliances, things that we now take for granted. Well,
(02:59):
the museum is doing this incredible scene with all this
amazing food and that you're supposed to just look with
your eyes, so do not touch it. You can check
out this exhibit it's going on through July. It looks
really cool, Producer Anthony Dane.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
There's an incoming rising star who comes from greatness. It's
Billy Bains Middle school student Adrian Peterson Junior. And if
the name sounds familiar, that's because he's the phenom son
of NFL star Adrian Peterson Junior's already paving his own
way though. He's heading to Ridge Point High School next fall,
and Danny's already earned football scholarships offers from Baylor in
Missouri state. He's six foot one, one hundred and seventy
(03:35):
pound wide receiver running a defensive back. They say his
routes are pinpointed and explosive, and he's an elusive touchdown
machine with great visow for the end zone. Now Texas
Texas A and m LSU and several other top programs
are all expected to pursue him, but he's got time
to figure it out. He's part of the class of
twenty thirty. But cannot wait to see where he goes.
You know he's going places. Good luck, Adrian Peterson Junior.
(03:58):
We will be watching.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Speaking of the NFL, CJ.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Stroud is trying to forget the worst performance of his career.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
That happened in January. What do you do? You hit
the gym.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
He's cut his hair, he's posted pictures of his new
shredded look up on x I.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Can't even recognize him. Yeah right, a completely different person.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
So you know, instead of pouting, you gotta get up
and do something and make your life better.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
And that's exactly what CJ's putting in the work. Yeah,
he sure is.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
And we always have our tell me Something Good stories

your TV, how did it change your life? Or are
you obsessed with your TV? You couldn't stand the thought
of getting rid of it. I got rid of my TV, Anthony.
I now watch on watch on my computer, so it's
less it's less like exciting, and it's just not as captivating.
(05:33):
I guess, so I don't watch as much. That's an
interesting discipline. Yeah, I was gonna say that's an interesting point.
If it's like, if it makes it less of an
enjoyable experience. Yeah, it kind of curves that again my series.
But I'm not getting that overall experience, right, So I'm more.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Inclined to turn it off so i can go to sleep.

Well, May is no longer May. It's becoming May somber.
This is what parents are saying. May is becoming such
a busy month like December. It's time consuming, it's all consuming.
You've got school events, sports tournaments, performances, final exams, projects.
May has become a hectic month and some parents are
(09:11):
really struggling, but other parents are thriving, posting on social
media how they get through this month of activity. They say,
number one delegate with your partner and or someone else,
or number two are pooling, ooh.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
That's a great idea.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Don't make May a hassle, make May just a delight member.
May is the month of Mother's Day, So that's all
I'm saying. That's what's trending in Houston on Tuesday, May fifth.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
