Sunday nighty nine point one, Houston's holiday music station on
Dana with producer Anthony, and we've.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Got the three things you need to know to get
your Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
November nineteen started well, a new name for Minute Made
Park YEP. It is going to be renamed daykon Park.
Daycon is an HVAC company and it brought the name,
bought the naming rights for fifteen seasons. New name going
to be official January twenty twenty five through twenty thirty nine.
And that train is not going anywhere, but it's not
(00:32):
going to have the Minute Made Oranges in it. There's
going to be new cargo that will be revealed on
opening day March twenty seventh of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Now, Anthony, you think it's gonna be ice because it's
the ice mark.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Then it's gonna drip because we're super hot in the summertime,
It's true, and then people are gonna get drenched with
melting ice Sacy Parks.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
We'll have to wait and see. Well we go from
baseball to football. Texans beat the Cowboys yesterday at eighteen
and T Center. But before the game, we've been watching
video of this big, huge piece of metal. I mean,
thank god it didn't hit anybody. It could have been
a disaster. And there was another dangling piece, but they
got it secured to the ceilings so the game could
(01:14):
be played and the Texans could win thirty four to ten.
And we have got an armed ride share coming to Houston.
It's called black Wolf. Now it is going to be
you're going to have options armored or premium options with
the drivers who have military, law enforcement or private security experience.
(01:34):
And the owner, Carrie King Brown, says the company is
all about thanking the military and they're going to start
out with thirty to sixty vehicles and they will be
here in Houston early next year. Very interesting and weather
today is going to be warm, but not tomorrow yet.
Today we're going to go up to eighty two. Tomorrow's
(01:55):
high in the sixties. Right now it is fifty eight
in uptown and you're up to date on set. Me
tell me something good brought to us by our friends
head Goodwill Houston camp Shield doing amazing things for our
women veterans.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
It's founded by Maggie Peterson, a former US Air Force
staff sergeant and this organization helps female veterans reclaim their
lives through retreats, workshops, peer partnerships. They have an incredible website.
If you or you know a female veteran that is
(02:31):
looking for all kinds of support, you can go to
camp shield dot org. It looks fantastic and thank you
Maggie for doing this for our ladies.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Producer Anthony Dane. This is always good news to share.
There's a family of Asian elephants over at our Houston
Zoo that just welcomed a new baby. This past Friday,
thirty four year old Asian elephant Shawnte, gave birth to
a healthy industree hundred and fourteen pound female elephant ouch,
given the name Kirby. Kirby was standing within six minutes,
walking twenty five minutes later, and began nursing with an hour.
All after being born, shar underwent exams. We'll spend the
(03:04):
next day's bonding behind the scenes before they make their
public debut. This is Shaunte's seventh calf burn at the
Houston Zoo, and Asian elephants are classified as in danger.
This estimated thirty to fifty thousand in the wild. With
those numbers, declining mainly because of habitat loss and poaching.
So this is another great reason to check out our
Houston Zoo. Not just there's zoo lights for the holiday season,
but new baby elephant Kirby.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
That's so great.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Welcome Kirby, and welcome gen Z. They are coming to
Houston in droves. We are a prime destination for gen Z's.
We had about twenty three thousand move here in twenty
twenty three. We are the third most popular city behind
New York and LA.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Why would you go to New York?
Speaker 1 (03:44):
But anyway, I'm just saying we are The leading factor
is Houston's affordability, our employment opportunities, education, entertainment opportunities, and
this kind of solidifies Houston's trending as an up and
coming city.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
And more good news for Houston.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
We are still among the most popular places for millennials too.
Say all around, great city and keep up the good work.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Just don't tell me about the traffic.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
I'm Dana with producer Anthony, and we're asking you some
inspirational job promotion stories.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
This morning, we've.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
Got Nicole calling in from Beautiful Chema. Now, you work
at Low's, what is your success story?
Speaker 4 (04:37):
So I work for contractors and I've been doing it
for fourteen years and basically I try to make other
days better in an essence where they come to me
with blueprints materialists where they're trying to fix the new
roof or apartment complex or things of that nature, and
they're always in a bad mood or drumpy or because
(05:00):
they're fixing something yeah right, yeah, And even homeowners when
they're coming in it's an issue, right. They're not coming
in with looking for furniture or something, you know, or
a new car. There's a problem, right, So when they
come in, I have to get everything together for them.
And I have such a great team, so I try
to always stay positive, like how you know how Dana is,
(05:20):
and just come in and smile and try to make
everybody happy at work. But I'm always Johnny on the spot,
you know. I try to just make sure that they're
always you know, they need what they need and they
get what they want, and there's deliveries all the time,
and just you know that my team's always happy.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Also, Nicole, you sound like the perfect servant. Really, how
do you? How do you do?
Speaker 4 (05:42):
You?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Then need a little Nicole time because it probably takes
a lot of energy to always be upbeaaten positive or
you just worn them.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I'm a maximisee step. I'm a maxine step. So I
go to TJ max, so I go to bath and
body work.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
To be happy, You've got to fulfill yourself with your
happy place.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
So when they come in grumpy and upset and start
yelling and screaming, I'm like, woa loo, calm down, calm down,
one thing at a time, take a deep breath, you know.
I give him a cup of water. We relaxed, and
then we start from the beginning to the end, and
then we figure it out.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
You she's got the key, she's figured it out. Your voice?
Ye oh, I love it?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Hey are you liking the Christmas music? Does that help
you out a little bit to stay positive?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
I love it. I love it. I wasn't there right
at five o'clock, but I realized it, like at fivey
forty five, and I told my kids I have a
nine and a twelve year old, and I said, oh
my goodness, it's time we missed it. They said, put
it on, and we all put it on and we
loved it and we listened in the was wonderful.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Oh it's true.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
It really does help our hearts grow three sizes truly, Nicole.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
What are your kids' names?
Speaker 4 (06:46):
So I have Dominic who's eight, who's in third grade,
and I have CJ. Who's in sixth grade, and then
I have an oldest who's seventeen. He's a senior at the report.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Well, would you tell the kids that we had the
best time talking to their mom today because she is
such a positive inspiration.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Yes, awesome. You guys have a wonderful good
