Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one. We've got Houston's best variety
the eighties, nineties and today I'm data with producer Anthony
and the three things you need to know to get
your Monday, September ninth started. Now, weather today beautiful, but
Wednesday is going to be a weather alert day. Cyclone
six in the Bay of Campechee, that's what they're calling
it now, possibly a tropical storm by Wednesday, Francine. Now

(00:25):
it hasn't doesn't have a defined center yet, so we're
still not knowing if it's going to go a little
to east of us, which would be in Louisiana. So
we are keeping our eyes on. As a matter of fact,
Mayor John Whitmeyer says, the city is preparing. HFD and
HPD have their plans. Center Point has five thousand extra
workers standing by their power Outage tracker map is now live.

(00:50):
It's cloud based, up to date every five minutes. It's
easy to use on your cell phone. They say it's
got street and satellite views and a summary of aputages
by county, city and zip code. Now I've not used it,
but this is what Center Point is saying. So you
can definitely check that out and then there's some great news. Yes,
the season opener, the Texans win beat Indianapolis twenty nine

(01:13):
to twenty seven. Now the Texans will be back home
for the Chicago Bears on September fifteenth. Weather today got
some clouds and we're gonna have more clouds moving in.
But today looks like very little chance of rain and
we are gonna go up to eighty nine. Right now,
it's cool. It's sixty eight in Uptown and you're up
to date on Sunday ninety nine point one. Tell me

(01:36):
something good brought to us by our friends at Goodwill Houston.
Well Chris Shepherd restauranteur extraordinary. He is showing us where
Houston restaurants get their most fresh, flavorful produce. I love
these segments. One farm is in Spring. It's called Atkinson
Farm's fourth Generation Farm. Bobby Atkinson and his one hundred

(01:59):
acres got fruit and veggies there. And what he does
is you can actually shop at their local farm stand there,
or you can pick your fresh berries at their berry fields.
That is so much fun to do with the kids,
especially when the weather gets cooler. Local foods. The restaurant,
which has four locations uses their produce. Also Urban Harvest

(02:21):
Farmers Market each Saturday, you can get their produce there.
So one of the many farms around that Chris Shepherd
is focusing on Atkinson Farms out in Spring producer Anthony
Dan this is incredible.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Just recently, over the Labor Day weekend, Jeremy Bach and
his girlfriend Cassidy, We're enjoying a fishing trip to Galveston Island,
but then they hear screams. Jeremy looks out in the
water and sees a little hand sticking out, so right
away he drops his fishing pole, jumps in to pick
this little girl up, brings her to safety, but then
he still hears people screaming. He goes back to the
water and then is actually grazed by another kid, who

(02:55):
he finally realized is actually unconscious. Manages to bring both
kids to safety. Both it's going to be okay, but
it's a reminder of this particular spot, the Bodiker Drive
Ship Channel area. There's actually signage around warning of swimming
being prohibited, but Jeremy says it's actually up to the
parents be smart with your kids. He says, it's an
area with strong title currents just not meant for swimming,

(03:15):
especially for the kids. So a good reminder to watch
out for these no swimming areas when you're visiting the island.
But really cool to hear that the coastguard contacted Jeremy
and his girlfriend saying that they will receive a reward
for his heroism for saving these kids.

Speaker 1 (03:28):

drink coffee. I don't get up just to get up.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Oh you know that. I mean, that's my life right there,
I've gone. I've been Turkey once and I was srying

have coffee, I know, I.

and drink it up.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Oh wow, that's my fourth child. If we didn't drink
a coca cola and finish it, he was a little boy,
he'd find the can and finish the cocaca right there.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
