Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties and Today Dana with producer Anthony and It's
gonna be May. It's Thursday, May First, and Jinks one
to three and the three things you need to know
to get your May first start here on Sunday. Rockets.
They did it still in the playoffs. I mean they
really did it. They held off the Warriors last night

(00:23):
at Toyota Center one thirty one to one sixteen. Now
they go back to California for Game six tomorrow. Haven't
won any of the games there during this playoffs, but
they're serious. Now, Okay, now it's time go Rockets, gig
in and let's do it. So Game six tomorrow in California.
And well, the City Houston has just saved eleven million

(00:45):
dollars this fiscal year. How did they do it? Well,
over one thousand city employees opted for a buyout retirement offer.
Today's their last day, Tomorrow's the first day of the
rest of their life, and three thousand were eligible. Just
over one thousand took the offer. That's pretty cool. And
this is pretty cool too, Texas. We are the third
best state for bird watching This is according to us

(01:08):
study by Lawn and Love. They looked at our climate
conservation efforts, access to parks, number of bird varieties, California
number one, Florida number two. Excuse me, Texas made number three,
and our weather today. So it looks like a little
sun right now, but we've got a sixty percent chance
of rain throughout the day today and tomorrow, a little

(01:30):
bit of cooler weather moving into today. Up to eighty
five right now, seventy two in uptown, and you're up
to date. I'm sunny. Tell me something good brought to
us by our friends at Goodwill Houston. Well. Lake Conroe
Park getting a glow up. It's going to be turning
into Lake Conroe Beach Park with all kinds of beach amenities,

(01:51):
kayaks and paddle boats, and a huge gazebo for weddings.
There'll be a fishing pier that can hold fifty people,
volleyball court, a cabana for rental, so fun. They're even
gonna have jet cars and a pirate ship. And this
Lake Conroe Park, which is now Lake Conroe Beach Park,
plans to open on May twenties. That's cool. Does that

(02:12):
sound great? Producer Anthony Dane.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
We know our hospitals and healthcare workers in Houston second
to none, especially when we hear these kinds of stories.
MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital brought the spirit of New
Orleans to the age this past Saturday night, transforming prom
season into an unforgettable night for young cancer patients and
their families. The hospital does this every year and the
theme for this year was part of New Orleans. They
treated teams to a festive evening filled with music, dancing,

(02:34):
and French quarter flair. There was a jazz band, red
carpet was rolled out as attendees arrived in elegant formal wear,
greeted by all the vibes of New Orleans. And this
is a cornerstone of the hospital's mission. The prom is
one of several efforts to revit all joyful experiences for
young patients undergoing treatment, and more than anything, Dane, it
was a moment of escape and magic for families facing
all these challenges. So thank you MD Anderson Children's Cancer

(02:56):
Hospital making sure these kids don't miss any of the
special moments.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
That is so I love that. And speaking of kids
at in Magnolia, a family of kids is becoming a
really entrepreneurial family. A fifteen year old football player from
Magnolia West High School turned his birthday money into a
thriving business. His name is Arturo Herrera and he visits
the farmer's market every two weeks buy stuff to stock

(03:20):
up for his recipes for his business. One product he
sells a Mexican sweet and sour condiment used to top
fruits and candies. He sells his products at markets again
events Ken signettas oh and his eleven year old sister,
she's also an entrepreneur. She makes and sells jewelry and accessories.
And they've got a six year old sister. She's the gopher.

(03:41):
Oh my god, do whatever they tell her to do.
And yeah. Oh, and Arturo said he recently even got
his father into cryptocurrency so he could be an investor.
Isn't that crazy? It is Arturo Herrera, great job. We
always have our tell me Something Good stories up at

(04:04):
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's best variety of the eighties,
nineties and today I'm Dana with producer Anthony and your
first day of May, talking about in our nearly impossible question,
love makes us less productive at work, according to the
majority of people in a survey. I disagree, but we're
asking you now. We've got to Rob. Now, you've been

(04:25):
working with a veterinarian for ten years, so we learned
that love makes you less productive. What emotion makes you
very productive? Excitement one of the patch recovering or feeling.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
You know, you see that.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Something came in that that really hurt or sick, and
you get just really.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Excited that the model and the attention you gave it
is just just made it better.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
All that's all really that man.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I love such motivator.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Now let's talk about because Anthony and I were talking
about emotions. We've both been here a really long time,
and sometimes you get sad or anxious, are stressed, you know,
in your personal life, and does it make you Are
you able to compartmentalize that and still go into work
and be super productive or does that kind of bring
you down? I think it can you motivate you, you know,

(05:13):
if you stay in there, just can make you you
love what you're doing. I think it can it can
be a motivation? That's excellent, excellent. And then finally our
nearly impossible question, the topic of love. A lot of
people say love makes them less productive. How would that
work in your life and at your office? I think
the support that you did.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I have like a lot of gritters, and I have
a used love for this and I get excited and
I think it's just a big support, like you support, like.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
When you're in love with someone, they support you, and
so you go to work motivated. Is that what you mean? Yeah? Yeah, excellent. True,
that's great. That is excellent. And to have a job
as a vet tech and you're dealing with these precious
animals that are counting on you, right, it's not like
they can talk to you.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yes, I mean it's a passion.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Robert is excellent. That is excellent. Well, we appreciate you.
And how did you find Sonny?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
I've listened to Sonny for as long as I can remember.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
And it started with the Christmas Spuessel.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Years ago and then it just took off. And my
nine year old daughter trusts me, she is getting the
car and you better put on funny otherwise.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
She's having a been O that what's her name. Her
name is Madeline. You give Madeline a big hug. Let
her know that you spoke with Dana and Anthony in
the morning and we're so thankful she listens and have
her call in any morning on the way to school. Okay,
all right, guys, We love y'all so much
