Tell me something good brought to us by our friends
at Goodwill Houston well singers and their favorite food. Remember
when Lenny Kravitz stopped off at Bucky's. Anthony was amazing
and he leaves there with some energy drinks and I
think the BUCkies nuggets, that's right. And then Demi Levada
recently did that, performed at the Toyota Center on Monday.
She made a Bucky stop. Well, now we're moving on
to Patty LaBelle. She wasn't at BUCkies, but she went

(01:57):
to Kroger's. See she's got this buttermilk pancake mixed. So,
first two hundred guests that came to the Kroger it
was at fourteen two to one East Sam Houston Parkway North.
First two hundred guests got to meet and greet with
Patti Leabelle. She was so excited to meet all her
fans and then tonight she is performing at Toyota Center.
It's the Queen's Tour, It's Patti LaBelle, It's going to

(02:19):
be so much fun. Chaka Khan, lattys Night and Stephanie
Mills also starts at eight o'clock at Toyota Center tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Isn't That So Cool?

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Producer Anthony Dane was school wrapping up for the year,
many families getting ready for summer and some parents checking
out potential summer camps for their kids to help them
keep them engaged whilelso teaching them valuable life skills. And
one Houston area business owner is doing just that by
offering up a summer camp that teaches entrepreneurship through cosmatology.
It's The Look Salon owner Tamika Sturgis. She's now been

(02:47):
doing this for six years. She says the idea for
the camp came from her passion for mentoring young girls
and helping kids explore entrepreneurship. Campers participate in hands on
beauty and cosmetology activities while also learning business skills such
as brand, confidence building and public speaking.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
They even have a shark.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Tank experience where campers create and present their own business ideas.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It's really cool.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
The supper Camp Summer camp includes multiple sessions throughout the
summer with activities on beauty business empowerment. If you're interested
in registering or finding out more, check them out on
their website find them at Thelook salon Houston dot com.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
That's so cool and she's Sony and Lizzo. I'm sure
she had lots of good mentors here in Houston because
look at her now. Well, Liso is doing really something,
really fun for Chili's. It's I want my baby Back ribs.
Remember it's kind of legendary. While she's bringing back the
jingle with her own fresh remix. You can get your

(03:40):
half rack or a full rack. There's even a flute
solo Lizzo is playing.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
It looks like a baby back RiPP. Oh my gosh,
that's the full rap bottom deracle.

And we've got Houston's best variety of the eighties, nineties
and today, and we've got a pretty day, Sonny. We
might see a shower this morning, but overall it's gonna
be nice warming up to eighty eight this afternoon. Right now,
it's sixty nine in uptown. We learned in our nearly

(04:31):
Impossible question that positive people keep a radio at their desk.
I love that, and I think there's a direct relationship.
You know, you listen to your favorite music. It picks
you up, makes you feel good. Yeah, but maybe you
can't have a radio, or you don't have a radio.
What keeps you positive at work? We're spoiled here because
we just we kind of are the radio.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
So we listen to music all the time here in
this kind of part of what we do exactly.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
So, but what about you? Things that strategies keep you
positive at work? I'd love to hear from you. And
if you listen to the radio, just tell us, like,
do your co workers like it? What is your experience?
Seven one three two one two five ninety nine one
Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best variety of the
eighties nineties and Today with Dana and producer Anthony and

(05:18):
a beautiful day.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It's going to be a sunny Thursday.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Might see a shower this morning and then this afternoon sunny,
warm enough to eighty eight right.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Now sixty nine.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
We're talking about things that keep you positive at work,
and for many of you, it's having a radio at
your desk so you can listen to your favorite music
that keeps you going.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
But some of you can't have a radio.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Anita, you work at a chemical plant in Webster and
you can't have a radio because you have to listen
for sirens and things. I never even thought about that.
That's great, right, So what then keeps you positive at work?

Speaker 5 (05:52):
So I have it.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
It's on a daily rotation, like a spiral bound and
so I slipped and it could like a day equals
from either an inspirational person or just a hey, don't
give up even though you want to kind of thing.
It thinks about yourself, like you are special, you are gifted, you,
you are talented. Don't forget you're the mixing piece that

(06:15):
keeps being golling. Some of them are funny and some
of them are more heart pet but it's just you know,
when I look at her that he's splip it over,
I'm like, Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
That is a great idea. Yeah, really fired up. Yeah,
she's making lemons out of lemonade.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
No, she's making lemonade out of lemons because she can't
listen to the race. She does the next next best thing. Yeah,
really reads positive positivity.

Speaker 7 (06:41):
And then because I'm the admin in the office and
we have about eighty people in our building, different floors
or whatever, so a lot of times I'll send out
mass emails about things that are coming up befo we're
doing a blood drive, or if we're doing a food drive,
or or if there's just something coming up or whatever.
So sometimes I'll send those quotes out just in my mass.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
Email chain to other people that's like, Hey, you are seen,
You're not forgotten. I know you're working hard.

Speaker 7 (07:11):
And so hey, good job. So we jumped people up
a little bit.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
We need you to send those those mass emails with
us over here. Seriously, positivity, special idea, it is.

Speaker 7 (07:26):
It just kind of helps. I think, you know, if
this one touched me today, then let me let.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Me send it out.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
I know I'm not doing this by myself, and I.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Love that you just made our day. It inspired a
lot of people to do the same.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Right. Seriously, that's excellently awesome. God, Anita, thank you for sharing.
And how did you find Sunday ninety nine point one.

Speaker 7 (07:48):
Well, I moved to Texas during COVID. I mentioned being
laid off and I was just like, well, now I
get to Malire with new radio stations and I was
just scrolling and I found it, and I was like,
this is this is mine, this is I'm keeping this one.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Oh, this is mine.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
At night too, because I love Delilah in the evening
and so I just I listen to it morning night.

Speaker 7 (08:11):
When I'm getting ready for work or I'm just at
home doing whatever.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
So yeah, I'm so cood.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I love to hear that in the Thank you for sharing,
and I'm glad you listened to Sunday ninety nine point one.

Speaker 7 (08:26):
You, my Alexa knows you, knows you, and now we
know you too.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Thanks for sharing for sure.

Speaker 7 (08:34):
All right, well, thank you guys.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Have a great day's sunny Daddy point on with Danna
in the morning.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Here's what's trending right now in Agetown.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Weddings, wedding parties, definitely not your mother's weddings, some new
trends that are definitely happening here in Houston and.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
All over America.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
The biggest shift the wedding is turning into a social
media event. You were photographer, there's more candid selfies. That's
the biggest change in weddings.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
But then there's the rustic weddings trend barnes, burlap, mason jars,
and baby's breath. Then the naked cakes and boho inspired weddings,
more of a laid back huntry aesthetic and hipsterred inspired
celebrations outdoors or in unconventional spaces, Anthony, I could totally

(09:24):
see your wedding bee hipster wedding and unconventional space like
a distillery or a loft, kind of industrial right. I
can't wait to see the e hitome of weddings. This summer,
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelcey, Oh my, any ideas Is it
going to be a traditional wedding or is it going

(09:45):
to be totally who knows?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yeah, I know like with her, it could literally be
anything anybody. You know, It's going to be massive, that's
what we do know.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Totally looking forward to that.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
So yeah, weddings and the new trends are trending today
in Houston and all over America.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
