Sunday ninety nine point one Houston's Best Variety of the
eighties nineties and today Dana in the Morning and producer
Anthony and the three Things you need to Know to
get you Tuesday, first day of July started, and we
start you with some great news. Rice University and U
of h among the top twelve hundred schools in the
QS World University Rankings twenty twenty six. Now, University of
(00:24):
Texas in Austin did come in number one in the state,
but Rice number two, twenty ninth in the US, one
hundred and nineteen in the world. You of h number
eighty in the US, five hundred and fifty six in
the world, but it climbed one hundred points. Talk about progress, really, man.
And then we're learning that five Houston area homes among
the top ten most expensive homes sold in Texas, Four
(00:48):
of them in Harris County and the River Oaks and
Memorial Villages area. The fifth one in the Woodlands now
Highland Park in Dallas, had the most expensive, sold at
thirty four million. Number two was on West Friar Tuck
Lane in Memorial. That one sold for twenty million dollars
and no more paper license plates. The House Bill seven
(01:09):
eighteen takes effect today, so when you buy a vehicle,
you're gonna have your permanent metal plate on that car
when you drive out of the dealership. It eliminates these
temporary paper plates. Dealerships will have the plates on hand,
but to prevent plate thefts, make sure you use tamper
resistant screws Now weather today on your first day July sunny,
(01:30):
hot ninety five, just the way it should be in
Houston in the summertime. We do have the heat index
making you feel like one hundred right now, seventy six
in uptown and you're up to date on Sunday ninety
nine point one. Tell me something good brought to us
by our friends at Goodwill Houston. I am so proud
of our newsman, extraordinary Cliff Saunders from our sister station,
(01:53):
news Radio seven forty ktrh See. We started doing a
radiothon for Saint you Children's Research Hospital Anthony years ago.
It's just Sonny, then it become it became all iHeartMedia
here in Houston helping out the kids at Saint Jude
Children's Research Hospital. Well, Cliff was so moved by the
stories at Saint Jude that he thought this year when
(02:14):
I run the Rampo half Marathon, I am going to
benefit Saint Jude. They are going to be my charity.
So he got he let management know. He emailed me
and he was like, Dana, could you help me out?
I am so thankful to help out Cliff Saunders and
you could too. Let's blow his mind with some donations
as he has trained so hard to run the half
(02:35):
marathon and help out Saint Jude. And you can check
him out on x IT. He's got a great ex
post at Radio Guy Cliff and his goal was only
five hundred dollars. No way. We are going to help
home mans that goal.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
So you know the kids.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
He made a promise to the kids at Saint Jude
and we can help him keep that promise once again
on x at Radio Guy Cliff and Cliff Saunders. Thank
you for all your really good miy Sir Anthony Dan.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
We've been talking about it recently, our twenty twenty five
star tests that our kids have to take. Recently, the
statewide results from grades three through eight became available on
Tea's online portals. So how did our area do?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Well for HISD grades three through eight. They reported strong
gains in both reading and math. In fact, math outperformed
state averages. Specifically, eighth grade math saw a nine point
jump from last year. HISD high schools over half met
grade level for algebra one, up thirteen points above the
state average. Sci Fair and Conro ISSD both districts performed
above state averages across grades three through eight. In high
(03:36):
school they reported a mix of games and slight declines
year over year. Fort Bend ISSD results were mixed. Biology
saw clear improvements, while performance and other subjects remained flat
and over in Kadie ISD, they emerged as the top
performing large district in the Houston area. Scores were strong
in Algebra one, biology, English one and two in US history,
and consistently above Dallas and Houston averages. So overall, pretty
(03:58):
good for our hous scenarios being growth in our twenty
twenty five star test results. But it looks like Katie
ISD was the winner, the winner in our area. May Man,
good job going on.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Had I love it? Now? Imagine this for a moment,
no place to call home. It's a reality for so many,
but they're trying to do something about it at a
place called Agape Village out in Galveston County. Everybody's Place
using a biblical concept, taking care of the widows and children,
homeless families, veterans who served our country. They are building
(04:32):
homes for the homeless and it's called Everybody's Place. There's
so many ways you can help. There are students now
helping to build these homes and you can help out,
whether it's volunteering, manual labor, or financial. You can go
to Everybody's Place dot net and definitely check it out.
It's an amazing, amazing dream that they have and you
(04:54):
can help make that dream come true. Now for Feeld
Good Stories each weekday morning set a preset on the
new and improved iHeartRadio app to Sonny ninety nine point
one Sonny ninety nine point one Houston's best variety of
the eighties nineties. And today I'm Dana with producer Anthony,
first day of July and we're talking about sweet sunglasses
on a summertime date. Sixty percent of guys don't like
(05:16):
when women wear them, the big ones. I get the
big certain like category where they're going a little too flashy.
Maybe I don't know. I love them. I think they're fine,
they were bigger the better. Anyway, we're asking you guys
about sunglasses, and we've got a guy, Andrew calling in
from the Eldridge area in construction sales. Now, I know
you're happily married, but how do you feel like about
(05:39):
those big holo type sunglasses on a woman? Oh? Of course,
I mean.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
It's better for them and it's usually a good style choice. Exactly,
that's what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Now. What's your wife's name, Morgan? Morgan? Now does she
wear those big sunglasses? Does she have a variety of
sunglass styles? No, but I do remember when we had
meat to New York. You got some really monkeys on
glasses that I think we're planning on using sometimes this
Summer's Oh okay, whatever I wear mine. My husband calls
(06:10):
me Hollywood, and I don't even care. He laughs at me.
But I just love them. They're very comfortable and I
think they look cute. And I don't know, I just
think if a guy doesn't like them, maybe there's a
little bit of intimidation in securities, Bob, I don't know, Andrew,
what do you think? No, I wouldn't really see any
reasons to not like sunglasses. I mean, I guess if
(06:32):
you don't, do you want to make sure that somebody's
always looking at it too as the only reason you
have an issue with anybody? Yeah, right, insecurity, that's right.
What about you, Andrew. Do you wear some sweet style sunglasses?
Oh yeah, I rock Compare aviators everywhere. Very nice, very nice.
Now we've spoken to you before and you had found
your dream job. You kind of lucked into construction sales.
(06:55):
How's it going for you. It's going really well.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
It's been a full month since I've been like out
on the road.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I started pretty slow because they've were getting a lot
of showers in the beginning of June, but the last
couple of weeks have been really really good. And you
I'm just hoping that's start July off the bank today.
So yeah, it's been going very well.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
That's all.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Andrew. If you really want to be noticed, get some
sweet sunglasses and you're going to be good to go
all month long. Okay, yeah, of course.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Thanks all right, Andrew.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Thanks again, love, We'll talk to you soon. In the
best of luck. Thank you, thank you.
