Speaker 1 (00:35):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
And welcome back to thirteen thirty one. I'm your host,
mister Ripper, and as always, I have my lovely co
host here with me, the one, the only, my heterosexual
life partner, Todd of Thunder Hello, and the one that
I have heart eyes for Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
Hey, my little monsters, and.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
We're back with a review of Hard Eyes twenty five,
the new slasher that's sweeping America as we know it overall,
Miss Atlanta. What was your non spoiler takeaway walking out
of Hardeyes.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I was really looking forward to this because they did
such a good job with a trailer, and I thought
it was really interesting that we were getting a new
slasher that was much more modern, which had me absolutely enthralled.
And for me, it did not disappoint. I had such
a good time with this movie. I love how much
I laughed, which was really surprising too for a slasher.

(01:31):
But the way that they did it was perfect.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
It's breathing new life into the slasher genres we know it.
The modern maiden approves to the old head, the old fart. Todd,
what was your initial reactions walking out of the theater.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Well, it's funny you say that, because this is a
old school style slasher film. This is straight out of
that late nineties, early two thousands style. I mean it's yeah,
it has a little bit of it's not comedy that's
over the top and insulting, its tongue in cheek here

(02:09):
and there or whatever.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
It pertains to the characters and it makes sense.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
And we didn't have a million fucking twists, and we
didn't have a million fucking this and that and blah
blah blah. It was a straightforward slasher film. It's a
holiday slasher film. This is this year's Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
To me.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
It's the same vibe, it's the same tone, not too serious,
but pretty awesome with the kills.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
I mean, I was happy with it. I like this.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I initially, walking out, was very very happy with this.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I had hard eyes. I guess you could say.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Literally if you go to our Instagram. I don't know
if it'd be up at this point. It should be up.
We've been trying to incorporate some video so you know,
you can check out our initial takeaways, like when we
left the movie theater. But overall, walking out of it,
I was very satisfied. Like I've told y'all that there's
two movies that I'm very excited for this year is

(03:07):
Hard Eyes, the New Slasher, and then of course twenty
eight years Later, which is around the corner somewhere. We'll
get there eventually.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
No rush. You got some worries about that, but overall
I liked it. I loved it.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
It's a movie that I can't wait to go back
and rewatch. It's definitely one of those movies you put
on in the background and you can just let it
play over and over. It's a popcorn movie. What we
reference here that Scream Thanksgiving, that kind of vibe going on,
if I had to put it to explain it to you,
like what it.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Overall feelings I get from.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
This movie like takeaways. It's like if you take Scream
a good rom com. I'm not exactly sure which one
maybe yet that it reminds me of, but it's almost there.
And then you sprinkle my bloody valuin time in a
little bit. It's not too much for my bloody Valentine.
You put that in a blender, and then you get

(04:06):
Hard Eyes. Starting off with the pros, Todd, what was
some of your pros for Hard Eyes? Well, like I said,
this felt like a old school, straightforward.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Slasher film that I like. It didn't try to trick me,
It didn't try to do something special and all that shit.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
If you know, you know, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Like these brand new movies always want to try to
come up with something new, and half of the time it's.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Like, just because they say it's new, it's not new, right.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
And just because it's a new idea doesn't mean it's
a good idea.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Lord, this is.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Everything that I wanted. I agree with you comparing it
to Scream, you know, maybe the remake to My Bloody Valentine.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
That's a good one.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Yeah, yeah, I said a little bit earlier, Black Christmas
O six.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Yeah, you know, I get that.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
It's in that same vein, and I think you hit
the nail on the head or the head on the
nail or whatever I'm trying to say. When you said
you would like to watch it again, this movie is
like has high rewatchability to it because very much one
of the words that we like to use here, or
I do anyway, is this was fun.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
This was fun.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
You can turn off your brain and have fun. You
call it a popcorn movie. We call it a popcorn movie.
The music in it. I miss fucking music, like real
music in movies.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, it had some really good music moments in it. Yeah,
I didn't even think about that.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
I mean, and it goes with the theme, you know.
I mean, obviously this is a Valentine's Day style horror film,
you know, and you get those kind of like classic
love songs in it and stuff, and it fits very well.
I thought, we're in the trailer that we might have
to watch this guy's mask light up the whole movie,

(06:07):
and I'm so glad we didn't.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, they saved that for the right time year shortly.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah, and it made sense too, right. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
And you know, I thought the killer he looked good.
I mean, he looked he fits in that slasher image
in my head, you know.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
To me, it kind of reminded me of night Breed
the way he looked a night Breed. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
but maybe a little bit more leather to him, kind
of like Corey Taylor mask but with hard eyes.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
And I was very impressed with the two leads in
this film. Mason Gooding, he if you guys don't know him,
he played in Scream five and Scream six, and Kuber
Gooding Junior's his father. We just found out a few
minutes ago. I didn't really care for the new characters
in the Scream films, So when I knew that he

(07:01):
was playing in this film and I was like, Okay,
maybe he's the new hot kid in town.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
But this movie actually really made me like him as
an actor because I felt like in this film he
showcased everything he could do. I mean, he was when
he was scared, he needed to be scared. When he
was funny, he needed to be funny, when he was
charming and trying to be like all sexy and stuff.
I mean, yeah, he could do everything. And the actress

(07:31):
was really good too.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
What was her name?

Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yeah, she was really good too. She played her part
and her best friend. She didn't have a huge role
in this film, but she was a lot of the
comic relief in it. You know, she was kind of
like the you know, the bad bitch best friend type
of deal. Overall, man, fun is like what it sums
up to.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Me, very much, agreed.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Now, miss Lanna, you are I can say a rom
com queen. I think that is not an overstatement, right, No,
very much?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
So okay? Cool.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
So, as a rom com fan, and now, of course
you are acclimated to the horror community against your will.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
How did you feel about this?

Speaker 3 (08:20):
First of all, my will.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I'm not joking. I'm joking.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I feel like I have to defend myself now.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
No.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I wondered a little bit if that as part of
why I absolutely loved this as much as I did,
because I am such a rom com lover. But it
wasn't overly heavy on the romantic comedy side. But I
feel like it was sprinkled in just enough to give
us kind of best of both worlds in a way.
The gore and comedy and love and like it was

(08:50):
all just balanced, really really well. And I also feel
like the pace of this film was perfect. I never
felt bored, I never felt rushed. It was just like
at the Zach's right pace that it should be.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
That's a good point, and think about that, even if
you're not into rom coms, I mean, couldn't you make
an exception because this is a Valentine's.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Day right right? It is kind of the theme It's
love day, right, yeah, But it also isn't like slap
you in the face with the rock right right.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
It's like, you know, somebody going to see a Christmas
slasher and just not being into Christmas, Like, well, don't.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Go see it, idiot.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
This movie does a very good job of also shitting
on Valentine's Day. It did a very good job of
when movies shit on something but also build up something
like you get an equal point of view of it.
You know, you get why it's good and then you
get why it sucks. Also, Yeah, that was a pretty

(09:50):
cool job of that.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
Yeah, And I think they've really done a really good
job of giving each character their own point of view.
Like you said, like some of these characters can't stand
fucking Valentine's Day. Some of them are very accepting of
it and very into it.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Right, you know, the hopeless romantic person.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
And that's funny that you said that. You know that
it shits on it, but it doesn't shit on it,
because that really mirrors some of the characters in it,
and that's how they get there, pulling across, that's how
they shit on it, but not shit on it.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
And like I say, always like when you are making
these type of horror movies, if you give us something
that's relatable, then you're going to have a recipe for
you know, a good cake, so to speak.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Because there's people like that. There's people that enjoy.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
This holiday, and then there's some people we know and
you know out there that just you know, sour heads.
You know, when the holiday's approaching, they're locking themselves up
in the fucking their apartment with gallon of ben and
Jerry's watching the notebook all fucking day. Yeah, you know,
I hate love, Oh hate love. You know that kind

(11:02):
of crap. But it did a very very good job
of balancing all these characters out. And it had I
ain't gonna say a lot going on, but it had
enough going on to where we got to know characters,
We got to develop, you know, relationships with these characters.
So you got a nice slew of characters and you

(11:22):
got to know them and get behind them and get
a feel for them. But it wasn't oversaturated with story.
You know, it was a very good balance. It had
had that scream element. You know, I hate to use
screaming such a reference, but it reminds me so heavily
of it. I'm gonna say it's a copycat. It copied
the homework, but it didn't copy the homework, so to speak.

(11:45):
It you know, looked it looked at how they figured
out the math equation and kind of like did their.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Own way of figuring it out.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Yeah, not necessarily copied their homework, but you know, I
see how you did that. I'm gonna try and figure
out the numbers this way.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
And every slasher film borrows from the one previous, whether
that's taking the holiday theme Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day, or
borrowing some similar kills. You know, there's you know, only
so many ways you can kill somebody with a knife
or a really sharp object. But it's the story that

(12:20):
keeps you interested. And I think that we've all stated
the balance. I think was probably what we're all more
impressed with with this film. Where we got some laughs,
We got what we wanted with the carnage, candy and
the gore. Oh we got I did not leave this

(12:41):
movie thinking, man, I want more, or like, I want
to see more of this film. But I wasn't like, man,
there could have been more kills, there could have been
more meat on the bones as far as having some balls,
you know what I mean. I was like, No, so
as romantic this movie could get, it was pretty goddamn brutal.

(13:04):
In a lot of scenes without giving too much away.
So if you're screamish and you're a hopeless romantic.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
You'll love this film. I would say that I agree.
The kills in this movie were definitely what I wanted
in this movie. I wanted some I'm not gonna say
like ridiculous kills, but like really good gory kills. That's
what you want when you're watching a slasher, is you
want those like holy shit, his eyeball flew out of

(13:34):
his ass.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yeah, like it was.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
It was nothing like, oh, it wasn't like groundbreaking, but
what we saw was so well put together that it
didn't matter. Like if I've seen it before, you know
what I mean, Like a knife through the face. We've
all saw that, but it was done so well, you know,
and if when it's done so well, it's still impressive

(13:59):
no matter how many times see it. Now if it
was done shitty, mm.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Yeah, I agree with that. The kills in this movie
there were some kills that I've seen before, but they
executed it in a way to where they did it
just right. Like I'm not gonna say who gets it,
but a particular character gets a one of his weapons
is kind of like a machete, but with like brass
nucks attached to it.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Heartshak.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah, I don't know exactly what you would call the weapon,
but it's a machete esque and a particular character in
the movie gets it right in a crotch and very
brutally like slit up in a way that was natural.
It wasn't like, oh that that's not real, and then
pushed off like very brutally cutting a head. It was

(14:48):
a great scene.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Yeah, there was a lot of sharp objects in this movie.
A couple uh, like you said, crotch attacks, A couple
of crotch attacks. That was one of the the other
main weapons was a crossbow like Darryl Dixon style, except
for his arrows were kind of extendable, like push it

(15:09):
and it shoots out like it extends further like or
it could go deeper.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
And that was That was pretty interesting. But we also
got some creative kills in this movie. Now, not giving
too much away, I think we all agree that we
like the carnage candy.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
I kind of give a few away.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Do y'all have a particular kill that you think the
halt out there would maybe like to hear about.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
But just know that.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
In my opinion, I think every kill in this movie
is worth seeing.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Now my question for y'all, we have our history of
mass killers.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Do you feel well?

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Todd kind of touched on this, but this is I guess,
maybe directed a little more towards Atlanta over here.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
How did you feel about the look of Hard Eyes.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
I actually really like to the look, and I was
sitting there thinking that I could see us, I don't know,
ten years from now talking about Hard Eyes kind of
I hope this isn't blasphemy, but kind of right in
there with our other big mask killers, right like he's
going to be in the Mount rushmore so, to speak
as potential very early to say that, but I feel

(16:19):
like there's potential there for it.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Definitely in our world. Maybe not in some of the
negative nancies.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Well, my personal opinion, I would love to have Hard
Eyes mask personally in my collection. I thought it was
pretty cool. Like I said, the eyes that glow up.
It's not a gimmick or something stupid. I don't want
to give in a way, but there is purpose. There
is a purpose. There's a purpose to it that you
see in the trailer, and it's maybe a minute tops

(16:48):
and it's never done again.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
You know, having a mask that has literal heart eyes
could have come off as very very cheesy, but they
did it right.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
I want one hundred percent agree with you on that.
I thought that the mask was done very well, but
the heart I could have been, oh man, this mask
could have suck major But honestly they did it but well.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Some people might think that the.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Mask was stupid, but me, being a slipknot fan, I
found it, like Todd said, very reminiscence of that Corey
Taylor mask that he wore. That mask, like I said,
was something that Corey Taylor got influenced from from Night Breed.
I just feel like Hardeye's mask is kind of like a
mixture of Corey Taylor's version of the Night Breed mask.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Overall, I enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
We've talked about Hard Eyes, We've talked about the kills,
We've talked about the story. Todd's talked about the music.
I personally thought, other than the actual songs that they
used in it, the actual score was actually done very well.
Intense when it was supposed to be, you know, dropped
down when it was you know, nothing going going on.
I personally I can't find it in me to find

(18:06):
a negative for this movie. Wow, believe it or not,
I don't have a negative takeaway for this movie. I'm
to take some words away from Lanta over here. What
I'm about to say might be blasphemy, but I think

(18:26):
this movie is gonna be up there with like Thanksgiving
and the rest of the Slashers. I think that we
have a future horror icon in the works, like the
Foundation's there. I want to see more hard Eyed movies,
right I like this Valentine's daykiller aspect. I like the
plot and the twists and everything they set up with

(18:48):
can lead to more movies down the line. Yes, not
all of them are gonna be good. You know, of course,
not every screen movie is good. I ain't gonna say
it's the best slasher in ten years, but the few
slashers that we've had that I believe are very damn
good over the past ten years.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Like Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
I said that with Thanksgiving, I think it was one
of the best slashers in like five or six years.
I believe that with Hard Eyes it's right there with
Thanksgiving in my book. And some people didn't like Thanksgiving,
So I'm one of those people. I'm a sucker for
campy slashers, so assume me.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Who gives a fuck what anybody else thinks? This is
what we grew up watching. Okay, but that's what I'm like,
That's what I'm about to dive in. People try to
act like this corny shit, just start it. But they're
the same people that maybe some of them like talk shit,
but like, do you watch the Friday thirteenth films or whatever?
Maybe they hate them too, I don't know. But the

(19:50):
way I look at it is if you grew up
like us watching those Friday thirteenth films, watching slasher films
like that, this movie is literally a continuation of that style.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Literally, I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
I think one of the cool things though, is for
me being, you know, the modern maiden that I am.
We have better tech now, we have better camera quality,
so where we still have that old feel but with
a new look, so still it still feels a little
bit fresh in a way.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Yeah, I agree with that, and it was very good
practical effects. But the thing that I was going to
touch with whoever out there, is like, well, it's no
Jason or Michael Myers. It's a killer that kills at
the same time time of year. Michael Myers only kills
on Halloween, right, this killer only kills on Valentine's Day.
I mean, if you break it down on paper, it's

(20:42):
no difference. Sam only comes out on Halloween. Jason only
kills horny teenagers during the summertime during camp.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
I mean, let's.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Think about this for a minute. The same people who said, oh,
this is not Michael or Jason. When Michael and Jason
came out, some people like, this is not Dracula or Frankenstein.
So you're gonna have people shit on stuff that's not theirs, right,
you know what I mean? So this is no goddamn
creature from the Blackler like back in my Dage, that's

(21:15):
a horror movie. But I think that's why we're like
one of the most easiest people to listen to, because
our minds are like really expanded. Not only can we
talk about those nineteen thirties universal films, we can talk
about those exorcist films. We can talk about films from
the eighties, the nineties, Scream, we can.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Talk about the hereditaries.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
We can talk about stuff like that, and we're not
boxed in and we will openly admit to you our
favorite genre is a slasher.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
For me particularly, my favorite genre is slasher.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
But we shade all, we appreciate all.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
If it's done right, all's welcome now, Lena, I know
we say that our favorite genre is slasher. Do you
have a particular genre that you kind of like show
more favoritism towards mine?

Speaker 3 (22:05):
More of like the Strangers, Hush, home invasion, films, home invasion,
anytime that there's it's just a real person and it
makes me feel like it's something that could actually happen
to me. That's my bread and butter.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
But when you say that Hard Eyes is kind of
in that category. Yeah, this is no supernatural elements here.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Right, He's just some same person.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Yeah yeah, it's no, it's no zombies, it's not necessarily isolated,
but it's still that feeling of being stalked, right, And
it's in that category. Yeah, yeah, I think that. I mean,
that's definitely what slashers are all about. It's about stalking.
It's about making you feel uncomfortable and giving one right

(22:48):
to the fucking eye, literally to the eye.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
I don't have any negative takeaways from this movie. What
about y'all, Miss LANDA. Do you have any negative takeaways
for this movie?

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Ask you something, Ripper, If you have no negatives, do
you think I have negatives?

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Possibly?

Speaker 3 (23:06):
I mean possible.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
It is possible because we've kind of been on, like
I said, last episode, right.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Different islands here.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
I'm on Gulligan's Island, You're on Golagala Island.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
If anything proved that in a violent nature, proved that
there are times where I have negatives and you don't.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
I'm gonna shay, y'all are going to eat all's words
on part two. I'm gonna go ahead and say that now.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I hope so, I actually hope. So just like Pooh,
Blood and Honey Too, was so much better than one
and that was thank God, thank God. Anyways, however, I
do not have any negatives with this movie. For all
the reasons that we've talked about. It was so good
and there was nothing that I was like, oh I
wish they would have done that different, or I wish
there was this like Thunder said, you know, I left
the theater not sitting there. Oh I wish I had

(23:54):
more Gora, you know. So it was for me, There's
nothing that I can complain about so.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Nothing more or that the movie could have provided, but
more that you want of the franchise.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Yes, yes, I think it is a base.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
No problem Thunter from down Under. Is there any negatives
for the Toddster.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
No, I don't have any negatives. This movie was a
breath of fresh air because it was finally something that
was retro, meaning it was very familiar with me of
something that I like at the same time giving me
a new kind of twist on it. And I think

(24:33):
that this movie is gonna go down as being one
of the most underrated, unappreciated movies of modern slasher horrors.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
I really do, and for good reason.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
And I'm sure we'll get to all of that because
of all these negative fucking.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Nay, yeah, it's some negative nancies out there.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
You're you're you gotta right to your opinion. My opinion
is you have no right to your opinion.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Well, speaking of opinions, before we give you our ratings,
of course, we always give you the ratings from the
other people that make way more money than we do.
But over at IGN, our favorite gaming network that tells
us the best of the best movies, has this at
a six out of ten.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
Your brakes are shot and you need a new transmission.
Came in here for an old change.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
Well somebody gets just check it out of my goddamn ass.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Hold on to your lug nuts. It's time for an
overall anyway.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
The Google review summary or the audience ratings, which I've
put my two cent into it to see if it
jumped up in he is at a three point four
out of five. Oh, come on, walk, give it one
more point the fuck? Hey, I tried to put mine
out there. You know it is what it is. It's
only at one hundred and fifty six on there. But

(26:07):
Metacritic has this at a sixty two percent, so it's
a little over halfway. I'm debah or IMDb, as you
may know, it has this at a six point seven
out of ten.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
I just don't feel like people have any fun in
their fucking bodies anymore.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
I don't get it because this movie doesn't try to
be anything more than what it is.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yeah, I mean, I guess because this movie, you know,
made sense.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
The trailer doesn't deceive you. What you see in the
trailer is what they give you.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
It is. They can't be slasher movie.

Speaker 4 (26:47):
Yeah, it's it's kind of like, if you go into
this not expecting what you've seen from the trailer, like
you really don't know horror film. The one of the
big reasons while me and you really wanted to see
it is because it reminded us of all of those
older mid two thousand slasher films. Yeah, and that was

(27:11):
our catch and we were like, please be like it,
and it was and it was. And it seems like
all these people are just not on the fun train,
they on that hoe train.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Well, I mean, honestly, if you go into this and
you haven't seen the trailer and you are expecting a
very serious slasher, you're gonna be disappointed. I mean, yeah,
that's the only way. That's the only justification I can
honestly find.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
Honestly, I don't even know why I'm tripping over it,
because I mean, seeing as A twenty four is the
biggest studio for horror, and they do like you have
to be on asset to really enjoy most of their shit.
So the fact that nobody can enjoy a fun, straightforward slasher,

(27:59):
I guess really doesn't surprise me.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Well, it's like they say, I'd love to see your opinion,
but I can't stick my head that far up my ass.
Speaking of asses, are lovely tomatoes that are rotten? Are
you ready for this? The popcorn meter is at a
seventy nine percent as of now.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
That's not bad.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
That's almost eighty because that comes after seventy nine good job.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Well the tomato meter with a certified fresh is it
eighty one percent?

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Wow? Maybe they fucking grew some fun.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
I'm confused. Yeah, it's I just fully expected them to
shit all over it because it's them.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Maybe maybe the right people that work for them when
and saw this, maybe it was like, hey, instead of
sending people we know that's not gonna enjoy this, why
don't all of you that's kinda used to this go
see it. Maybe that's what they did, or maybe they
just woke up and stopped being.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
You know, have ostriches with their head in the sand.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
I was gonna say rotten tomatoes, Yeah, half rotten. Anyway,
we love to give you our ratings at the end
of the show. I went first last time because I
felt like I was gonna be the negative Nancy.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
So ladies first, Todd, what did you give this overall?
For hard eyes?

Speaker 4 (29:31):
Well, I have no negatives, and I really enjoyed it,
and the keyword is fun and the rewatchability is there.
I immediately want to stream this or buy it.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
I give it a five.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Gna Miss Lanta, the Oprah Winfrey of the horror world.
You get a five, you get a five, and yeah,
you get a.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Five, and Hot Eyes gets a five.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Surprise, surprise.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
No. But I feel like it's so well deserved.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
You know.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
That's one thing I've been taking a closer look at
my rating system. Yeah, we have help of Ripper.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
We had a conversation about this.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
Something that stood out to me is, like I said
earlier that I think that this is something that is
going to become a horror slasher icon. It has that
potential at least. I definitely think that tenures on the
Red from now, we're still going to be talking about
Hard Eyes. And like Thunder said, you know, I'm excited
to I'm excited to rewatch it. I actually would go
back to the theater and watch this again.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
I mean if we had some friends that were wanted
to see it, yeah, and we're like, dude, we want
to take y'all to see it. We think you will
have a super fucking fun time. Like I would take
a group of us. Yeah, and you know, I wouldn't
even be annoyed if some of them started talking. No, No,
it definitely like I'm so fun about that shit, I'll

(30:56):
kill you. But this movie is so fun that I
think hearing other people just laugh about it, it doesn't
make me upset.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
It's like I enjoyed that part of it because I
actually started laughing at the very beginning of this movie
because the fucking birds.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
They had fucking punk funny.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
It was like this beautiful scene and these birds go
by in your hair, like we're in for a good ride.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
Yeah, we all got our things that make us chuckle.
And and there's quite a few things in this subtle
and not so subtle that will make you chuckle.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
The genuine ring tone at the worst possible moment.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Oh my gosh, that was funny for me.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Like Thunder was saying, he's a little bit anal about
people talking or making noise when you're watching something in
the theater, But I loved, like you said that, we
actually heard people laughing and it was at appropriate, you know,
when they were supposed to be laughing, right, Yes, but
I actually even kind of belly laughed, which I normally
am trying to be so quiet, but there was one
moment where I actually barey laughed.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
I didn't mind it in this film because the scenes
called for a laughter, and the gore scenes, people were like, God, damn,
why talk.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
A lot of times you'll go to the theaters and
you'll see a serious movie and you'll see a deaf
scene and there'll be two little shit hit fucking teenagers
laughing and you just want to choke them, bury them
somewhere very much.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
So I agree, you want to light their head on fire.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Yeah, So well, speaking of that, what is your rating?
I give this a four. I'm kidding, no, I give
this a five. I absolutely adored this movie. I know
I've been talking so much about this movie. This movie
is exactly what I wanted and needed. I don't see

(32:50):
anything knocking this off of my top of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
I say that because we're in a year of sequels.
To me, originality most likely will win above a sequel
because we've seen it before, right, and we kind of
know what to expect, and this movie is just so original.
We'll see how you know, Monkey goes and you know

(33:17):
some of that about money and some of the other ones.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Then they can't make up.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
And there's movies like The Thanksgiving, like Hard Eyes where
Wilfs was another one that I'm sure a lot of
people said was corny. We like those movies because we
like having fun. And I truly believe that if you
shit on this movie, it's your opinion, but you're probably
the one that booze when they bring out the down

(33:42):
syndrome kid and everybody stops playing and they let him take.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
A shot, right, Oh god, that's so true. They're like
somebody's like, here's Devin.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
And he's obviously down syndrome, and everybody gets out of
the way so he can hit the free throw, and
you're just sitting there with your arms cross, going.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
M he's not gonna make it. I don't even know.
I don't know why they do this.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
I mean, he should be treated like everybody else, like
you're literally the Debbie Downer. I truly believe that you
you might not have a fun bone in your body.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
They're the type of people that goes to the party,
like a birthday party and complains.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
About that they use white cake. This is this is
so dry and white offran soda off brand soda. I
just ca who the fuck doesn't have hinds.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
I can't find it in mean to like those kind
of people anyway. But you know, our fans out there,
all three of you, we do appreciate you, and we
know that you use your blinkers and your left and
right turned indicators.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
But we know where you're gonna love this film.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
We know you're gonna love this film. I mean, it's
unanimous across the board. I think this is cult approved
one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Uh can't thirteen thirty one fresh.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
I can't wait to buy this movie. I can't wait
to rewatch this movie. I am looking forward to it.
