Fresh off surviving Mad Monster Party—somehow—we’re here to talk about the horror legends we met, the terrifyingly awesome movies they’ve been in, and the geek-out moments we’ll never live down. But the madness isn’t over! Carolina Fear Fest and Tidewater Horror Convention are creeping up, and we’re ready for more horror-fueled chaos, more monsters, mayhem, questionable spending decisions, and probably spending way too much on horror merch. Let’s get spooky!

Speaker 1 (00:34):
What's up And welcome back to thirteen thirty one. I'm
your host, mister Ripper, and as always, I have my
lovely co host here with me, the one the only
toid of Thunder Hello, and the Mistress of the Monsters,
who is slightly sick but sticking with us.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Hey, my little monsters.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
And we're back with a special edition episode of Mad
Monster twenty at twenty five. Not Mad Monster Expo, that's
a little bit later this year. But this is the
first part. This is the party of the Monster that
we went to with our lovely bearded brother in Brandon,

(01:14):
and we.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Go to the one in Concord, North Carolina, because that
is the closest one to us.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yes, it was pretty fun. We went on a Sunday
this year, right, we went on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Yeah, we went on Sunday, And I'm glad that we
did that because it was a lot more chill, a
lot more spacious and enjoyable than last year.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yes, it was more spread out this year. I enjoyed it.
A lot of the same vendors as usual. You know,
they's starting to kind of feel like family, you know,
a family gathering, so to speak, which is a good thing.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Because if you buy some really cool stuff and you
can't find it again, you're like, God, what is that?
And then you see them, You're like, oh, there it is. Yeah,
that's pretty cool. It's pretty awesome. A lot of new
stuff also floating around. Then, of course, you know your
your collectible horror memorabilia and all that fun stuff. But
the meat and the potatoes of these events, if you've

(02:08):
never been, is the celebrities, or your horror stars, or
your b rated actors. I don't know what you want
to call them. I don't think they're b rated. I
think they're absolutely wonderful. They're a's in my book.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I am continuously surprised at some of the names that
these horror conventions are able to get.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
And Miss Lana, speaking of some of the names, you
want to drop us the list of the names that
was there this year.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Sure, I'd be happy to. So. We had Brooke Bundy.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yep from Nightmare three and four.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Three in four and Darcy the Male Girl.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yes, the last drive in with Joe bob Riggs. We
did not see her.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
I didn't notice her at all.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Actually she had a table out there. I saw her name,
Oh she did. I thought the Sunday that we went.
I did hear them call for photo ops of Darcy,
and she's the only one there named Darcy. To your point,
I did not see her walking around. Maybe that was
just her picture day or something.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Maybe maybe. And we had the legendary Brad Dwarf.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yes from Child's Play, legendary voice.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
I think that was probably one of the most anticipated
for you guys.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Oh yeah, we'll talk about this after we go over
a list.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
And of course his daughter, right Fiona.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yep, Fiana from Curse and another chuck into series. Yeah,
everything that you would consider bad in the series she
has started, sorry.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
And we have met him before. Well, we also wanted
to meet him again because Ripper over here needed to
get the autograph. We'll talk about that in a minute.
But the one and only Robert England's Freddie himself.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Freddy got fangered.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Freddy gave you the fucking finger.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah. I was about to say the only person they
got fangered was me.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
In this event, we have Megan Good Bacon Gude.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
From Saul five, probably better known for her Shazam New
Shazam superhero type.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Films, Brandon Sweetheart, Daniel Harris.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Daniel Harras from Halloween four the Return of Michael and
she was also in Halloween five and Rob Zombies yep.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Ken Cursinger, Ken Cursinger, mister Freddy versus Jason. He was Jason,
by the way.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
He was the worst looking Jason all of them. But
its sweetheart to Vary, he is sweet.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
We also have Jonathan Majors.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Yes, from Creed three, probably the biggest thing that I
know him from.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, don't worry, he didn't assault anybody during this event.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Toy Knew Kirk.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Yep from Nightmare four yep.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
And the Sweet Sweet Man John Russo.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
John Russo, the legendary co writer of the original nineteen
sixty eight Night of the Living Deed.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
And he was a ghoul in it too.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He likes saying the word ghoul.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Yeah, I dig it.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Well, it's one of those old things, you know. The
zombie is kind of the new term.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Nah, back then it was ghole the good.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
We had Mira Sorvino.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
She's from Minnick in what was that h Romey and
Michelle's high school reunion.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
See a lot of these I didn't even notice.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I don't recall a lot of them being.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
I wonder if they're about sometimes at these events, if
you've never been there, only their Friday and Saturday, or
Saturday and Sunday, and then some are there all three days.
I wonder if a couple of these may have not
been there on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
And also if you're not really looking to meet them,
you don't really notice them.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Either, right Brook Guys, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
She's from Nightmare four and Beverly Hill's nine O two one.
She's the bug.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Girl, Bug Girl Amanda Weeese.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
The original Nightmare in eighty four.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
That's one that I wish I would have met.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I wish. No, I'm okay with the fact that I
didn't meet him, but it was really cool just to
see him. Was mister Billy Zane.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
From Titanic, the Phanom and a million other projects.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I like to think of him as the star of
Demon Knight.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
And is it his daughter, No, his sister, his sister,
his ya again mother faka someone with the same last name,
and it's female. Lisa's Zane.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah, she was in Freddy's Dead, the Final Nightmare. She's
actually uh was revealed to be Freddy's daughter in that movie.
So you're on the.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Right track, just wrong person, which a lot of people
hate that movie. But this year we actually didn't meet
that many people at the Mad Monster Party. No, we'll
get into that because we got a few more to go.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Just our wrestlers.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yeah, the wrestlers.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Sergeant Slaughter and Devon Dupley.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Get the tables.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
If you're a fan of the Golden Era or the
Attitude era in WWE, you will be familiar with these
two guys.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
And if not, don't worry about it, because this isn't
a horror this is this isn't a horror podcast. This
isn't a wrestling podcast.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Yeah, well, a lot of times you will see at
least one or two wrestlers at at least every horror.
Con Caine, Yeah, you like Caine has done him before.
I've seen Jake the Snake Roberts at him before.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
I've seen Arne Anderson.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Yeah, arn Anderson, Lex Luger, the Steiners, A bunch of
people from wrestling do these things, Barnie boys.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
I met Caine because of See No Evil. You did
and I got a huge five x seven See No
Evil autograph. Yeah it was pretty cool, pretty nice.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
But Sergeant Slaughter actually scared me. Scared you, Yes, because
he's quite his I don't I don't know if it
was the camouflage, but I was looking at his table
and I did not realize he was sitting right there,
and I'll look up and he's just staring at me,
and I'm like, no, Eddies.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Well I did. I did see like the pictures on
his on his table, and he had some banging ass
fucking pictures. Almost made me want to do it. But
I was there for my horror guy.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
So well, we'll start off with mister Brandon. Brandon has
been wanting to meet missus Danielle Harris for a long
long time and he was gonna go with us to
another horror convention, Tide Water, that we'll talk about a
little bit later. But last minute they announced daniel Harris,

(08:37):
and of course, you know, it was his birthday, so
we surprised him with the ticket and you know, the
picture with Daniel Harris and she was as sweet as
she could be.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
In his words, she's so pretty.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yes, And what was some of the things talked about.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
They actually talked about Roseanne a little bit.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
She was talking about Sarah Gilbert and how she was
jealous of Danielle Harris because she would had a thing
for the guy from Big Bang Theory, Johnny Galecki. David
is his name on the show, Yes, but Johnny Gilecki
she had a thing for, and she was jealous. And
I looked at her and I said why she doesn't

(09:18):
like guys right, And she said, I don't know. It
was weird. And then apparently they brought her back for
the launch relaunch of The Connors. The Connors, they brought
her back and killed her off.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
They killed off everybody. They killed off the main attraction, Roseanne,
and they gave Danielle Harris's character cancer.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Yeah, which was weird, and she didn't know that until
last minute, so she felt like it was a big
fuck you to her. I didn't really get to talk
to her kind of Brandon's moment, so I have some
questions I would like to ask her.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
At Tidewater, I thought it was really fun to see.
It's really fun for me. I'm usually the picture taker,
so I get to experience you guys meeting some of
the people that y'all have just been so excited to meet. Yeah,
and that was definitely one of Brandon's I would say,
probably top tier like people he wanted to meet, so
getting to witness that was really fun.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
It was. It was really sweet.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
And yeah, I met Danielle in twenty nineteen, so I
was like kind of like you, giving Brandon his moment
of taking the picture and getting an autograph and doing
all that good stuff.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
So this time around, I made a promise to myself
that if John Russo was going to be at Mad
Monster this year, I think me and you had this
conversation like towards the end of like last year, me
and Thunder that if he was at one, I would
meet him before it was too late and I would

(10:55):
regret it absolutely.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
And I met him at Mad Monster last year. Yeah,
So I told you how sweet of a guy he
was and how he would tell you stories and he
was very personal and he was very just a sweet
old guy that would just talk your ear off even
if you didn't want to hear it. So I showed

(11:17):
you my autograph and yeah, you said, hey, that's one
of the ogs. You know, it's very rare that you
meet somebody from sixties movie, you know, like last golden
era of you know, Hollywood movie monsters.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
So yeah, on top of everything, it's not often that
you get to meet somebody like Gen Russo and George A.
Romero that kicked off a whole genre of horror, you know,
the zombie genre that we know today. And it's pretty
awesome that I got a chance to meet him and

(11:55):
talk to him and find out some stuff that I
didn't know, and some stuff that kind of blew my mind.
I didn't know that he directed a horror movie from
the eighties called Midnight. Todd you know about this movie.
You actually have it in your collection. I didn't know
anything about it, and he was telling me about it
and how awesome it was, and he offered one of

(12:17):
his own personal original posters to me and autographed it.
And I was like, I'm going to take this and
I'm going to watch this movie because I have a
feeling if I don't get this poster from this man
with his autograph, I'm going to fucking regret this. And
he was very sweet. He cut me this like pretty
cool deal because I got the Midnight huge poster sign

(12:40):
and then I also got a five x seven Night
of the Living Dead yep. And I was, honestly, I
didn't know what to ask him about Midnight, so I
was asking him questions about Night of Living Dead and
the concept of how he came up with it, And
he said that the original concept was supposed to be
about teenagers that go off to a graveyard that were

(13:02):
smoking the dope, as he said, and all of a sudden,
these aliens come down with a hunger for flesh, and
that was pretty much his idea. Mister Romero and him
didn't kind of see eye to eye on it, so
they changed a couple things around about the graveyard and

(13:24):
them coming back from the dead, but took the concept
of eating the flesh and brains for you know, the
horror aspect of it. So it was like this beautiful collaboration.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
It was really for me to meet John Russo because
the very first horror movie I can ever remember washing
was not of a Living Dead And you told him that, Yeah,
I did tell him that. He smiled pretty big. He
was such a sweetheart.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yeah, he was pretty funny too.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
He was. That's probably one of the things I'll remember
forever is he was telling us how he likes to
prank people and tell them that he was like thirty
years old during n Lie Dead, but he was not.
He was older than that. But he got us because
he said that to us, and we were like, oh, really,
just like going along with him, and he started laughing
and he's like, you know, people usually when I tell
him that, they take me serious because I'm so you know, genuine,

(14:13):
and they always say, well, you look so good for
your age, and I tell him that it's all in
the jeans. These are wranglers, very grandpa type, so sweet,
and it was pretty awesome.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
Yeah, he has awesome stories. When I met him, he
told me a story about why Romero chose to shoot
the movie in black and white, even though it was
nineteen sixty eight and color had been around for a
couple of years. And he said, he wanted to make
a classic horror film, and you know, of course the
budget had a lot to do with it, and it's

(14:48):
so much cheaper shooting it in black and white. You know,
of course you had to get a wardrobe, and you
wanted something that shows up in black and white really good.
That's why a lot of those black and white films,
a lot of people wear like dark suits and very
light colored you know, shirts and stuff, mostly white and
black stuff, because that white just shows up so much. Anyway,

(15:08):
he was telling me, like all this stuff about why
certain people bore certain things in black and white movies
and this and that and blah blah blah. Now I
never really thought of but now that I think of it,
I'm like, oh, yeah, when I see a black and
white film, if somebody's wearing a white shirt, it shows
up beautifully as opposed to somebody wearing a darker colored

(15:30):
shirt that might blend in with the black background or whatever.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Anyway, he gave like cool knowledge like that, very fun,
very informative. If you ever get a chance at the meetium,
I highly, highly highly suggest it. Well, I guess we
will talk about the bad news before we end with
the ultimate awesome aspect of it. Well, for this Horror convention,
I was very excited because I was going to finally

(15:55):
get my Robert England to autograph and finally get a
chance to talk to him.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
And that was originally the entire reason why we chose
to come to Mad Monster this year.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Yes, very much so, that was my whole point of
going this year was to get my Robert England autograph.
I'm sorry, I'm not one of them people. They can
just order autograph offline and then it comes to the
house and I'm like this is awesome. It just doesn't

(16:27):
work for me like that. I've got to meet them,
I've got to see them sign it. You know, there's
got to be a story behind it, because out of
all of my autographs, I have stories.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Right, I always ask them questions.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah, because I think it's cool because I can sit
here and tell stories later, like you know this podcast
right now, we can sit here and talk about all
the people we've met and all the conversations I've had,
and you know, that's the great thing about it. And
I was looking very much to this because I have
my Robert England aka Freddy Kueger tattoo, and I was

(17:02):
so excited. And yet again this year, apparently there was
so many from Saturday that overflowed into Sunday that they
cut off the line. So nobody Sunday got an autograph.
You could do the picture, but I've already done the picture.
I'm not gonna pay for another picture.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
So it was that, Yeah, again I met Robert England.
I don't even remember what year it was. Might have
been twenty nineteen, No, it was later in that, maybe
twenty twenty one, something like that. It was just right
after COVID, but it was still COVID was still like

(17:41):
scaring people, so everybody was still wearing masks. But anyway,
I met him at Hunt Valley, Maryland, at Monster Mania Con.
He's the only one I met at that con. First
of all, though he's only I only brought a hundred
bucks with me. He was the only reason I went.
But even if I wanted to meet other people and
I had cash in my pocket, it would have been impossible.

(18:02):
Because I stood in line to get his autograph for
about six hours. So I'm the absolute opposite of the
Ripper over here. I got the autograph and the signature.
You know, I don't have the photo, and the Ripper
has the photo but doesn't have the autograph.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
Put y'all together in your combo.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Yeah and then com And the weird thing about it
is Robert England sells so much stuff that it's not
like you could get a photo and an autograph at
the same time. He's so busy, and he's so personal
with the fans, and he tells stories just like you're
John Russo's story. You know, he will sit there and
do that even though there's three hundred fucking people behind you. Yeah,

(18:47):
he will make you feel special and he doesn't rush
you through the line, and I'm pretty sure a lot
of the handlers and a lot of securities are like, God, damn,
I wish you'd hurry up, come on, And I'm I'm
pretty sure, at least my experience when I got up there,
it was amazing. I want him to talk as long
as he wanted to. While you're waiting, you want to

(19:08):
strangle people and you're like.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Move along, asshole.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
But while you're up there, it's an amazing thing. It's very,
very common. We must point this out. Any convention that
you go to and Robert England's there, you better plan
because you're gonna have to do a lot of prep
to get what you want from mister Freddy Krueger.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Yeah. I think next year, if or sometime this year,
if he comes back around, I'm gonna have to bite
the bullet and buy a three day pass.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Yeah, because if we would have went Saturday and you
got a ticket for an autograph, we may have had
to come back Sunday for you to get it because
they had they were so overbooked.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
There's always a silver lining. So while we was in line,
we had this lovely gentleman that came up Shane Shane
from Mad Monster.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Mister Shane.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Mister Shane came up and was like, is anybody here
to get an autograph from Robert England today? And me,
I was very excited me and he was like, well,
fucked in so many words in bad news, Barri. Well,
I'm afraid of got some bad news for you.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
If you'll hit to sleeve Robert England, you'll fucked majorly.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
And I was like, well, this sucks. This is second
time in a row. And you know, I showed him
proof about going and coming, you know, to Mad Monster
and stuff. He was a real chill. We shot the
shit with him for I don't know about five ten
minutes and was like, Hey, since I can't meet him,
can me and my friends all get a group picture

(20:45):
with mister Dwarf today?

Speaker 3 (20:47):
Yes. And we must point out that Mad Monster usually
on the professional photo ops you could do up to
four people just a couple of years ago, but they've
gotten a little tight on it and on the website
it actually says you can only have two people in
a professional photo ops. So, but with the disappointment of

(21:08):
not being able to get the autograph from Robert England.
You said, hey, we got three guys right here. We
would really like to put all three of us in
the Brad Dorf photo. Could you make some magic for us?
And he said, give me a minute. He got on
his little radio and he radioed somebody and Jesus radio Jesus. Anyway,

(21:31):
he took our pictures on his phone, sent them to whoever,
and he said, hey, tell them you're the three guys
that Shane sent.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
You should be good to go. You should be good
to go. Yeah, it worked out. I absolutely think things
happened for a reason because Brandon really wanted to also
meet mister Dorf because he's the Lord of the Rings fan.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
And Brad was only doing professional photo.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Ops kind of kind of.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I bet you that was Shane in that picture that
med Monster shared.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Maybe I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yeah, just so you're not confused, we saw on social
media that Brad Dwarf was taking some pictures at his table,
and it clearly said on the website no selfies at
the table. I think we have come to figure out
that might be staff and maybe vendors.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Right possibly, but come to find out also that when
we got there, it was a X amount for the
autograph also a X amount if you wanted to do
a selfie at the table with him. But it was
the exact same price almost. I think it was like
fourteen dollars more for the professional photo op.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Oh, no, that's right, No, that's right, it was you're right.
I completely forgot about that. It was the exact same
price for the professional photo op or the table selfie.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
So it worked out.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Yeah, it did work out because we got all three
of us guys, and plus we got the greens green background,
which ended up being a toy store.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Yeah, like from Child's play. From Child's Play, So it
was pretty dope.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
So that was our experience. You want to talk about
waiting and how it was a little confused, how we
went from being outside the room to being inside the
room in the wrong line, moving over, that's not the
right line. Then we went to sit down, then we
would pack over exactly literally three different staff members ask

(23:33):
us what we were doing, and I'm pretty sure at
least one of them ask us twice what we were doing,
and we had to keep on saying, where're the three guys?
Where are the three guys? No, it's not the Brad
and his daughter picture it's just Brad. I mean, it
was just to their defense. They were just trying to
get it right. And thank god it wasn't an overflow

(23:56):
of people and they wasn't confused for two long. It
was just funny that it was like stand here, stand there,
sit down right there, you guys, come on in here.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Down left right.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
But honestly, it was fairly simple. We got in there
and we all took the picture and it was it
was a lot of fun. And got to shake Brad's
hand and.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Yes, and I got to tell him that I absolutely
loved his performance in Exorcist three. And he looked and
he looked at me shockingly with you yeah, And he
looked at me with this glow like, oh my god,
that made my day. I was like, that was great.

(24:39):
Like he legitimately smiled at me. He said, thank you
so much. Well, we also got to talk to him
when we got autographs. Well I did, cause, like I said,
I like to talk to him. So I asked him, well,
when I first got there, I told him the story
of me as a child and how it scarred me.

(24:59):
And he was like, oh, oh, so what happened? I
was like, well, I was watching child's play and I
had a buddy doll. He said, oh no. I was
like yes, and it scarred me for the rest of
my life. And then he was like, I am that's
awesome pretty much. And I was like, the sound of
your voice gives me chills. And he was talking and

(25:21):
I like, literally you could see like the chill marks
and like I showed him on my arm. He's like, wow,
my voice does that to you, I said. I asked
him about like recording, if he was on set for
any of it or just was there to experience any
of it, and he said no, he recorded it all
at his house in his garage with his own equipment.

(25:44):
I was like, holy shit. For some reason, I was like, hey,
you know, you really creaked me out when I was
a little kid and into professional wrestling. You did that
promo with Scott Steiner on Monday night nightro and it
freaked me the fuck out and I couldn't look at
my TV. Yes, And he was like, oh, yeah, I've

(26:07):
worked with a couple.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Of He said something about he just worked on a
project with a wrestler. I forgot who it was. I
think it was like Alexa Bliss, That's what it was
from the Chucky series. And I must point out we
kind of had a movie moment here because we immediately
looked for Brad Dwarf's table and we saw about maybe

(26:30):
four people in line and we got behind and then
the security taptist was like, actually the lines there. Yeah,
that was a total fucking movie moment.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
It was it was like, you know when they point
and then the line goes.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Yeah. Unfortunately for us, this was one of the perks
going on Sunday. It was not a long line, and
it was like shockingly, like, what it's that short? And
how long? You think we might have waited fifteen maybe
twenty at the most, maybe maybe at that I know
for sure if we would have went on Saturday, holy shit,

(27:08):
we have probably.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Been standing for a right good minute. All in all,
Mad Monster was a success and had a great time.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
I bought a Shining T shirt.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
I don't think I bought anything.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Got a Scream shirt.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Oh yeah, I bought you a Scream shirt. And we
got to talk about Brandon. He bought him a Jason
Takes Manhattan with the guitar in the hand. Yeah, that
was pretty dope. He bought two of three T shirts.
I believe, And he was like, I'm gonna get home.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
My wife's gonna be like you spent all that, and
I'm like, yeah, it's my money.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
And I found you a giddy Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
You got me the new gizmo that's coming out, the
new Grimlins two gizmo, the Rambo gizmo. I guess you
could call it that with a crossbow and everything like that,
which is always great, you know, adding to my Halloween
and gizmo collection or Grimlins collection, Gizmo grim one's same difference.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yeah, these conventions are amazing if you want to meet
celebrities and get your pictures and autograph and also if
you want to find, like you said, horror items like that.
Whether you're looking for old vhss or DVDs or custom
made horror stuff, you can find it all at these places.
I suggest if one comes near your area, pick up
a ticket and go and take a chance and you'll

(28:22):
have a good time.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Yeah, and we will be going to Carolina Fearfest. That's
right around the corner.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Yeah, it's in May.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
I think.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Yeah, that's real exciting just for the guests to announced.
There's still more to come. But how about Malcolm McDowell. Man,
that is a huge one. It seems to be a
lot of big ones we're knocking off. Like we said
last year that we're gonna be more minimal with the
shows that we go to as long as they don't
get anybody big. And then you know, it's like, oh,

(28:54):
Robert England, Brad Dorf, Michael McDowell, David Arquette, Yeah, fuck me.
Well you know what it is, man, it's we're such
a huge fan of horror films that every time we
seem to shorten the list of like big names, others
pop up that might not be big to others, but
they're still big to us. So our list of big

(29:15):
names still grows every day. But like you said, when
we saw Malcolm McDowell, that was crazy Clockwork, Orange, Halloween,
Rob Zombie, that stuff. And then I know one that
you shited your pants for because I did too, was
Nancy Loomis. Nancy fucking Nancy Loomis, who played Annie in
the original Halloween. You had PJ. Shoals, you had Nancy Loomis,

(29:39):
and you had Jamie Lee Curtis, so you have the
three core girls. And you know, we've talked, we've probably
never meet Jamie Lee. But we've met PJ, and now
we have a chance to meet Nancy Loomis, total bucket list,
big fan of the original seventy eight Halloween.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Yeah, and not to mention a lot of the other Halloween.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
The fog she was, she was fucking mister Atkins's wife
right in Halloween three. You know, God, damn it, it's
your time with the cabs.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
I mean, it's crazy because I don't think she's done
a horror convention since the forty fifth.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Yeah, and she might do him here and there up
in the West Coast, you know, little ones here and
there that we don't really know about, but never down
here since I mean, We've been doing this thing since
twenty eighteen and I've never seen her name on a
marquee line.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Yeah, it's crazy, Miss Lena. What's some of the other names.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Well, we have Bill Moseley, Bill.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Fucking Moseley, and you don't know who he is. Look
him up.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
He's making up because remember, guys, go back to a
couple episodes ago. It's been a while, but last year
he got hit. Yeah, he was riding his bicycle and
believe he got hit by a car.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Right, Yeah, No, no, no, no, he was walking and got
hit by a bicycle.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
List Oh yeah, okay, yeah, yeah. He was supposed to
be at Carolina and he had to spend the time
in the hospital and that's so sad. Me and the
Ripper over here have met Bill. We met him all
the way back in twenty eighteen at our very first convention.
Really we know that he's such a sweetheart. He gave
me a free CD.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Yes it did. Yes, true story.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Well that's one that I'm actually really excited to meet
Bill and his selfie is only thirty dollars.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Bill Mosley. Yeah, now, he's a very down to earth
reasonable guy. I'm going to meet him again because I
want a chop Top exactly.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
See. Bill Mosley is one of those guys where he's
character actor. I mean, not only is he known for
the zombie trilogy of House of a Thousand Corpses, Devil's
Rejects three from Hell, but chop Top, Texas Chainsaw Maasker two.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Wow, he was.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
He was one of the guards in Halloween Silent Night,
Did the Night Part three or four, whichever one.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
It was, where he's the mute with the the brain,
the Brains.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
The remake Tonight of Living. Did you know they're coming
against you, fucking Bill Mosley? Yeah, you know, we love Bill.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
We have Samantha Mathis from American Psycho.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Which is crazy. You don't see a lot of people
from American Psycho.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Yeah. I thought maybe, uh, the mom might be excited
about that because it's not too long ago that you
first watched American Psycho.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Yeah. I watched it for the first time last year
and it's very quickly became a top favorite of mine.
Really enjoyed that movie, so I'm excited to meet her.
We also have Alex Vincent Child's.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Play speaking of speaking, Yeah, man, that the first two
Child's Play movies Alex Vincent as Andy.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Yeah, I'm definitely gonna be getting a Child's Play too.
Autographs it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
I actually forgot about this one, and I'm geeking out.
I don't know how to say his last name, Tyler Levine, Levine.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Lebine Levine or I often like to bring up horror
comedies Tucker and Delle versus Evil yep.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
And it's funny that you guys say that because I
was just watching Escape Room today and he plays it.

Speaker 1 (33:12):
I can't wait to meet him. He seems like a
very sweet guy.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Yeah, we have Kristin Elise again with Child's Play.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Yes, missus. She plays Kyle in Child's Play two, which
I think it's pretty unanimous with me and you that
Child's Play two is our favorite. When you met Brad Dorf,
we have to uh say that you got the freaking
Child's Play to cover art I did, and also I

(33:41):
got a picture of him holding the knife from you
guessed it Child's Play too, So I think all of
our autographs is probably be Child's Play two. From from
those guys.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
We have William kat from Carrie.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Carrie, Yeah, boyfriend, he took Carrie to the prom. He
also played in a great film called House that was
also I think either directed or produced by Sean Cunningham
who done the original Friday thirteenth.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
So there's some history for you.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Okay. So we have Kyle Levine. Is he related same
last name?

Speaker 1 (34:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Interesting we're talking about Freebird from Freddy versus Jason if
you don't know. He was the guy with the stalking
cap and the long hair who Freddy famously possessed and
when they were trying to get out of the insane asylum,
he's like, go out here, let me handle this bitch.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
He was also in something else.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Too, I think Halloween Resurrection.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Yeah, Scary Stories Tell the Dark.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Scary Stories.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Yeah, I think he played I think he played one
like a security guard in Scary Stories and Halloween Resurrection.
That's cool to put on his resume. But he's literally
a background character on the Internet show and he just
walks by and he's like wow, then he goes off.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
There's several other ones to be announced. They haven't announced.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Yet, right, But they did have a cancelation.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
They did have a case.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Yeah, Hotter of the Cane is not going to be
there unfortunately. Fortunately me and you have had our cane moment.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Yeah, so that's good. That's good.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Yeah. I hope it's nothing serious as far as health goes.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
I think it was prior commitment, Like, okay, I think
they double booked him. Well, he be double booked.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
He does show up a lot of these conventions. He's
kind of one of the ogs along with Robert so yeah,
and Felyssa Rose.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Yes. And also let's talk about Tidewater that's going to
be in September. Tidewater that is one of the conventions.
We're trying to get a horror booth set up. We're
working on it, but this is one that we're going
to actually be at all three days. Carolina Fearfest we
might be at more likely on a Sunday, but Tidewater

(35:56):
we're going to have a little fun beach trip. I've
been talking with the spook House podcast and looking forward
to hanging out with those guys and talking with them
and picking their brains and just having a good fun time.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
Yes, and as you mentioned earlier, missus Danielle Harris will
be at that one as well.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
I'm actually hoping to meet her there. I wanted to
meet her at My Monster, but I wanted to be
really present for Brandon and be able to like just
let him have that moment. Not only is it someone
that he was so excited to meet, but it was
also his birthday, kind of a birthday present, and so
I just let him have that, knowing she'd be at
tide Water.

Speaker 3 (36:33):
And we also have Scout Taylor Compton. Speaking of those
Halloween bucket list ones, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
I think you're really excited for the beach trip. We're
calling it the Horror Beach Trip.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah, it's in Virginia Beach. If if we didn't say
that already, Gout is our closest Jamie Lee.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
Uh yeah, this is as close as the Jamie Lee
as we're gonna get over and buying her fucking movies.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Honestly, we love the rob Zombie Halloween films and we're
big fans.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
Sorry, I sorry.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
I love her as Lorie, especially in the second film.
I love her performance, so I'm very looking forward to it.
And we have about four people from the Friday Thirteenth
Part five, a new beginning coming in that's going to
be exciting. You're very excited about that one. I'm very excited.
I'm always excited to meet Friday thirteenth people. If I

(37:27):
can get all of these snag them up all in one.
I've often told you that I love when a convention
has so many people from a certain franchise or a
certain movie all there at one time and you can
snag them all together.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
That is so cool. And Friday five.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Is one of those movies some people go eh, but
I absolutely love it, so I'm looking forward to meeting them.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
Miss Atlanta, please tell us some of the people that's
going to be at the Tide Water convention.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Before we get to the Friday the thirteenth people, would
you also have Brad la who plays Michael and Halloween resrection?

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Okay, so I'm going to I'm going to get this
man's autograph and meet him, and it's more of a completionist.
That's exactly what I'm doing. I mean, I don't know
what I'm gonna say to this guy. Normally I try
to think of I try to think of good questions

(38:24):
to ask.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
I think I got one for him.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
You hate the movie?

Speaker 3 (38:29):
No, I wouldn't do anything like that. I would just
simply avoid whether I like it or not, or whether
he likes it or not. Not just be like, so,
how'd you get the role? You know? That's it? You know.
I wouldn't want him to ask me, well, what did
you think about it? This sucked? But I like you.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I don't know. I might be like, how did you
feel about the buster Rhymes scene? Did you dig it?

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Or were you you like?

Speaker 1 (39:00):
What the fuck?

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Well? You know, I just don't want to hear him
say well, it was just another job. You know, it
might put ill fillings in me.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Oh what if he does?

Speaker 3 (39:13):
But that's why you stay away from that shit.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Somebody's gotta ask these hard questions.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Well, you know you better get prepared for the hard
answers though.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Movie Right along to the Friday the Thirteenth Crew, we've
got Melanie Kenneman.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Yes, she played Pam in Friday the Thirteenth, which is
the main ran Aron Hero that's female.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
For hero and Dick Wyland.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Dick Wyland or Wyland. But he's Roy Roy Yep, Friday
the Thirteenth, Roy rules. This should have been the name.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Of it, do you y'all know? Yeah, okay, well.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
We call him Roy the Night Roy slaughtered everybody.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
We have Bob de Simone.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
He plays two roles in the movie. He plays an
ambulance driver in the movie Tommy to the Nuthouse Farm
and uh, he also picks up the diner chick and
he has a leather jacket on and he snorts some
snow flurries up his nose before he picks her up.

Speaker 1 (40:10):
That's right with that famous line.

Speaker 3 (40:12):
Yeah, sunny in the valley, hide in the city and
snow flurries up your news.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
And then, last, but not least from the Friday the
Thirteenth Crew is Ron Sloan.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Yes, Junior Swim Year one of the most memorable characters
from the entire movie. He rides the mopad wear's the
dirty shirt, has the old fucking leather hat, leather hat,
plain hat or whatever, and uh he gets you tell
them you would you shut the fuck up? And uh

(40:44):
he has probably the coolest death in the entire movie. Uh,
when he's riding on his little mopead and uh, a
big ass fucking what do you what do you call
those things that they're the Uh, they're the square, little
choppy things. I thought I painted a good picture of.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
That square, a little chopping thing.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
They're the knives. They're knives, but they're square and they
have a handle.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
But cleaver is it a cleaver, that's a clever you.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Call him cleve? Yeah, well he gets the cleaver death.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Isn't it?

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Oh mixed?

Speaker 3 (41:18):
And then so.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
Normally we don't ever really talk about when they have
people who do animation and stuff at the horror cons
because that's not really our thing. But that's when I
think that our sweet little baby Thunder will be excited for.
And it's Tom Cook, who is an animator and director
who worked on the Scooby Doo series as an assistant animator.
In nineteen seventy eight.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
Yep. And if you read on I think it says
he directed a couple episodes of The Simpsons as well.
He did. Yeah, and King of the Hill. Is it
King of the Hill? Is that what I'm thinking of?

Speaker 2 (41:49):
I think so. On the website it just has King
of Teeth.

Speaker 3 (41:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he directed a few episodes of King
of the Hill the Simpsons, and like Kubi Doo. Yeah,
And I mean Zach loves anything from Scooby Doo, so
I mean rightfully, so yeah, And I'm sure he'll have
some banging ass eight x ten's there to get autographed.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
And it's like Ricky Bobby said, if you don't like
Scooby Doo, then fuck you. Yeah, And we.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
Have from I Spit on Your Grave Camille Keaton Keaton.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
Keating, Yes, she was in the original I Spit on
Your Grave. She was also in Uh, I Spit on
Your Grave Deja Vu, which is kind of a reboot
to it.

Speaker 1 (42:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
You want to talk about a great horror film that
has a heron that really went through some shit in
the film that came back and got her revenge.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
It's a great like a good strong woman.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
War right, Yeah, like This is the type like if
you really want to know what a good getting your revenge? Like,
fuck these guys, I Spit on Your Grave is what
you need to watch. You've never seen that. One of
the most underrated films.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
I think we're gonna have them over here to watch this.
It's hard to watch, it's a hard watch, but it's
a payoff. It's good off, Like you, guys, I think
that pretty much all the I Spit on Your Grave movies,
even the remakes are.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
Pretty fucking solid. The remakes are just as good as well.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
So this one. The movies that they have listened with
her name, I don't think I've seen a single one
of them, but she looks very familiar, curious Loreen Landon.
So she was in Airplane two, Hundra, Maniac Cop, and
Maniac Cop two.

Speaker 3 (43:30):
Oh yeah, you can stop there. We we know Maniac Cop.

Speaker 1 (43:33):
Yeah, Airplane too.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
Yeah, Airplane too. That's a classic comedy film. But Maniac
Cop is great. You should watch Maniac Cop. Tom Atkins
plays in it.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
Oh yeah, Maniac Cops a tomins im here for that.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Surely you can't be serious. I am serious, and don't
call me Shirley.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah, there's your Leslie Nilsen reference.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
Yeah, we have lou Temple.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
He was from The Walking Dead, I believe.

Speaker 3 (43:59):
Yeah, he was from Walkin Did and he was from
Devil's He was also from Rob Zombies Halloween. He's playing
a bunch of stuff. Now, I think that you need
to go back and talk about the makeup dude, because
of the films that he's.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
A part of.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Barney Berman, who is an American makeup artist and character actor.
Oh so, he won an Academy Award for Best Makeup
for his work in Star Trek and The Grinch and
Oh My Lord, and.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
He was Zombie Land and the Ring kind of stands
out in his little horror adventure. But fucking makeup artist
from The Grinch is kind of exciting to me.

Speaker 2 (44:38):
That is actually, yeah, I didn't read that far clearly.

Speaker 1 (44:41):
Not to mention the zombies and Zombie Land look fucking good.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
Yeah, this is the kind of guess everybody knows. Tom
Savigni is being, like Savinienie, the most popular makeup artist
on the planet in the horror genre. But I think
we need more of these makeup artists and more of
these people behind the scenes that make our heroes look
the way that they look and make them bad ass,
and I think they need some love.

Speaker 2 (45:05):
That's a good point.

Speaker 1 (45:06):
You know.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
We do talk a lot about practical effects and the
people behind it are important because we wouldn't have the
film that we have without them.

Speaker 3 (45:14):
Absolutely, you want to meet the guys that make the Grimlins.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
You know, yeah, exactly, You know the guys that came
up with the idea to use the William Shatner mask
and painted white.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
Yeah. To me, meeting a special makeup artist is no
different than meeting a Brad Dwarf that provides a voice
to a character.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Right, Yeah, agree with that.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
We have sweet Douglas Tate is going to be there.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
Douglas Tate's going to be there. We don't necessarily need
to meet him, but.

Speaker 3 (45:46):
No, but we will tell you that he was pretty
awesome when we met him. If you guys don't know,
he's a major stunt double for Hollywood movies, especially horror films.
He was Jason stunt double and Freddie versus Jason. He
was Michael Myers stunt Devil and Halloween Kills, and he
also played the Big sasquadch and the Jack Link's beef

(46:07):
Jerky commercials.

Speaker 1 (46:08):
Actually still does, still done. He has a fucking like
crazy ass to deal with him, and you're telling us
about that too.

Speaker 3 (46:18):
And you know what, I don't think he's a whole lot.
I think he might like, well, thirty bucks or something.
A part of me kind of wants to get the
Bigfoot autograph.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
Yeah, kind of, yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
I mean it's kind of like, you know, the caveman
from the Guico commercial, you know what I mean. It's like,
he's not really a celebrity, but I see it all
the time and I kind of like it.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
But it also helps when they're genuinely good, nice people.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
Oh yeah, he was. Definitely, he was awesome. We all
met him.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
If we ever come across like Felisa Rose again, I
would love to get a terrifier to autograph.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
Oh definitely. I mean we've been going to these things
since twenty eighteen, so we're at that point where we're like,
you know what, even though we still have a lot
of people that we haven't met, there's just so many
nice people that we'd like to meet again. We're at
that stage.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Last, but not least, we have mister Frankie G.

Speaker 3 (47:11):
Mister Frankie G. He is the asshole from Saul two
Dus Dus Saw and he did a fucking fantastic job
with that character because I hated.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
Him in that movie. Yeah, he was a legit asshole.
And Saw two is one of my favorite Saws, next
to the last one. Yes, I mean you've got Saw one, two,
and ten that they are to me, the pinnacle. That's
your trifecta. That's your your big three, your core three
in that whole franchise to me.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
Yeah, and it's it's pretty cool to have somebody there
that's not named Tobin Bell or Shawnee Smith. Those are
the two usual ones that you see at conventions. So
seeing some of these other character actors that meet horrible deaths,
it's exciting. It excites me, of course, you know me.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
Yeah, you know, I always.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
Go for the for the smaller, less known people, and
I usually have pretty big success because their lines aren't
that long.

Speaker 1 (48:14):

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
