Speaker 1 (00:07):
Hello, everyone, Welcome to Achieving Success with Olivia Akin. I'm
your host, Olivia Acin each week, we will discuss the
real map of achieving your personal and professional success. In
these solo episodes, I pull back the current and on podcasting, entrepreneurship,
and personal success. You'll hear the stories I use, the
(00:27):
lessons I've learned, and the honest stories that shape to
me so you can build not just a successful podcast,
but business and life you're proud of. Today, we're diving
into something I think too many entrepreneurs, podcasters, and professionals
don't talk about enough evolution, the idea that who you
(00:50):
were when you started your business or your podcast or
even your career isn't who you were meant to be forever.
Because the truth is, success isn't about staying the same.
It's about learning to grow and allowing yourself to the
space to change and to do that. When I started
(01:12):
my podcast and my consulting business, I did a very
specific vision. I was coming from a space of career development.
I'd written a book that was being used in high
schools and colleges, and I was helping people navigate their
career paths. And that was my lane. I was very
confident in that lane, and I was very goal oriented
(01:35):
that that was going to be my lane, and that's
what I thought my business would always be. But then
the podcast started growing and within a month it had
reached eight countries, something I could have never imagined. People
were listening, engaging, asking questions, and what they wanted from
(01:55):
me was not career development at all. No one asked
me career development questions. It was insight about into podcasting, growth,
brand strategy. I started getting messages like how did you
do that? Can you help me start my own show?
Can you help me get on podcasts like yours? And
(02:15):
that was the moment of realization. The thing I thought
I was building wasn't the thing I was building or
and meant to be building long term at all. That's
the first big truth about success. It will evolve if
you let it and let it. But the hardest part
(02:36):
giving yourself permission to evolve without guilt. Because we spend
so much time chasing clarity, we forget clarity comes from movement.
In business, evolution starts with listening. Listening to your audience,
listening to your clients, listening to your numbers and your
own gut. Our guts tell us a lot. If I
(02:58):
hadn't listened to what people were asking for me, i'd
still be talking about resumes and interview prep. But my
audience was telling me, through their questions, through their feedback,
through their energy, that my real value was in strategy, communication,
and brand positioning. That's what evolution looks like. You can
(03:22):
plan all you want, but the market always talks back.
This happens in podcasting too. Sometimes your audience changes, sometimes
your topic expands, sometimes your purpose shifts. And the stake
so many hosts make is trying to force their podcast
to stay the same when they've already outgrown it. If
(03:45):
your show is feeling stagnant, it might not be because
you've lost motivation. It might be because you've evolved, but
your podcast just hasn't caught up. And that's okay. It's
supposed to grow with you. And I want to give
a little mini takeaway here. So my first mini takeaway
(04:06):
is evolving your business or podcast doesn't mean you failed
your old version of you or the business. It means
you're honoring it enough to grow past it. Let's talk
about the behind the mic side of evolution. When I
started achieving success with Olivia Agin. I had no idea
(04:28):
it would become a globally ranked show, especially so quickly.
I mean so quickly that within thirty days it was
in eight countries by week eighteen, Between week eighteen and nineteen,
it became a top ten percent was listened to podcasts globally,
and the growth did not stop there. I didn't have
(04:50):
a massive production team, though I did have my amazing
producer and editor, Ben, who is still with me today
and is recording this very episode. And I didn't have
fancy equipment. I had a message, a plan, and consistency,
and over time I've realized that my podcast wasn't just
(05:11):
a marketing tool. It was it was my personal greatest teacher.
It taught me how to communicate clearly, especially because I'm
a talker. It taught me how to listen deeply. It
taught me how to lead with empathy and authority at
the same time, and most importantly, it taught me that
the person behind the mic is just as important as
(05:34):
the message being shared. That's something a lot of people miss,
so I want to say it again. Most importantly, it
taught me the person behind the mic is just as
important as the message being shared. A lot of people
miss this and they focus on metrics, downloads, the number
(05:55):
of followers. They have a lot of different vanity metrics
that our community or social media puts out there is
what is key and so important. But the truth is
your evolution as a person will always determine the ceiling
of your podcast success because your audience can feel when
(06:17):
you're aligned and they can feel when you're not. Many
takeaway number two is the podcast grows when the person
behind it grows. Evolution isn't just about business, It's about
who you are as a person. When I look back
over the last three years I've had, I've had to
(06:39):
evolve in every single area personally, mentally, emotionally, building a business,
managing clients, being a host of a globally ranked podcast,
and staying consistent. It's a lot, and anyone who's telling
you is not it's not a lot, is lying. And
I've had to learn when to pause, when to delegate,
(07:02):
and when to give myself some grace, which I think
all of us need to do more of. There were
seasons when I was exhausted, when I was recording late
at night after working a full time job, when I
doubted myself, but I kept showing up because I believe
in what I was building and I still do to
(07:23):
this day. And that's what evolution really is, showing up
even when things feel uncertain. It's trusting that the version
of you who starts isn't going to be the version
of you who has is at the finish line. So
if you're listening to this right now, I'm feeling like
you've changed, or your goals have shifted, or you're questioning
(07:46):
your next step and what is that right next step?
That's not a setback. That is progress. Congratulations. The many
takeaway I have for number three is change isn't chaos.
It's a sign that you're paying attention. Now, let's talk
about the most important part, evolving without losing yourself, because
(08:09):
none of us want to lose ourself as we evolve
and change and growth, because when you're building something like
a brand, a podcast, a business, it's easy to let
it become your full identity, and that's where people get stuck.
I've learned that your podcast, your business, your brand, there
(08:30):
are extensions of you, not replacements of you. And I'm
gonna repeat that again because I think it is so important.
I've learned that your podcast, your business, your brand, there
are extensions of you, not replacements for you. If you
want to keep evolving without burning out, you have to
(08:52):
stay connected to your why. For me, my why has
always been connection and impact. That's why I created Achieving
Success LLC and Achieving Success with Olivia Akin to help
people grow personally and professionally and to give them real
stories and room maps that inspire them to take action.
(09:12):
Whenever I've lost my footing, I come back to that.
That's my anchor. So I want you to take a
minute and ask yourself what is your anchor? What drives
you when the metrics aren't moving? What makes you proud
even when no one's clapping yet? That's how you evolve
(09:34):
in with integrity. Here's what I want you to do
after this episode. Take a look at where you are
right now in your podcast, in your business, in your career,
in life. Ask yourself these three questions. What's working and
what no longer fits? Where am I forcing something that
(09:56):
used to feel aligned but doesn't anymore? What would happen
if I gave myself permission to grow, even if it
looked different from what I had planned? Write that down, reflect,
and then make one small change this very month that
reflects who you are now, not who you were when
(10:16):
you started. That's how evolution happens, not in leaps, but inconsistent,
courageous adjustments. If you're ready to evolve, to grow your podcast,
your business, or yourself in a way that feels aligned
and sustainable, I'd love to help you if you'll find
(10:36):
a link in the description of this episode to connect
with me, and together we'll map out your next step.
Not the version of you you think you should be building,
but the one that you're truly meant to build. And remember,
success isn't about staying the same. It's about being brave
enough to keep becoming who you're meant to be. I'm
(11:00):
Olivia Achin, and this is achieving success with Olivia Acin.
Until next time, keep building, keep growing, and keep redefining
what success looks like for you.
