SPEAKER_05 (01:19):
All right, all
right, all right, all right.
Hey, my beautiful people.
Well, welcome to X Naomi VidyAdPodcast.
It's Judy Gottis Navy Bankshere.
And you know, we had talkedabout what happens when love is
built on a lie.
We talked about the flags wechose not to see, and both of
those conversations actsomething hard of us to look at
betrayal and then to look atourselves.
(01:43):
To look at ourselves.
Well, tonight we are goingsomewhere even more personal.
Tonight we're going to talkabout what happens to your body,
to your desire, to your capacityto want or to be wanted after
you have been through it.
After you've been through it.
And she writes something in thisletter that I have carried with
(02:06):
me for months, and I want toread it to you exactly how she
has wrote it.
All right.
All right.
So she says during during mydeep cleaning and recalibration,
(02:28):
that I came across a process.
Well, a process which lastedseveral, several years.
My libido dropped almostcompletely to the floor.
After five years of voluntarycelibacy, I did not think I
still had those kinds offeelings within me.
As I had almost given up onromance.
(02:51):
But it is my belief that I havethose feelings within me.
It's because there is someoneout there for me.
I do not know who she is yet,but I can already feel her
energy, feel coming into mine.
Five years.
(03:12):
Five years, five years ofsilence.
Not because she gave up on love, but because she was doing the
work.
She was doing the work.
She was deep cleaning, she wasrecalibrating, she was becoming
the version of herself thatwould be able to recognize that
right thing when it finallyarrived.
And then something happened.
(03:35):
Something small happened.
I don't want to tell y'allexactly what happened.
I was just kidding.
But something small happened.
It was a minute video.
It was a minute video, and thedoor had cracked back open for
her.
And that is when she wrote methe letter.
So tonight we are talking aboutwhat it means when desire goes
quiet after trauma, what itmeans when it starts to come
(03:58):
back, and how you honor, how youhonor that return without
rushing past it.
So this week, this week, ourthree of Love, Lost and Reclaim.
This is our desire afterdarkness.
And I am so very grateful thatyou are here with me tonight
because we have a very specialguest that is joining us on our
(04:22):
panel.
Hold on a second.
Don't bring her in just yet.
Let me do the let me do thething first.
Let me do the thing first.
Miss Krista Nicole, she's anauthor, inspirational speaker,
and she's a seasoned Christianminister.
She is the author of God'sDivine Plans for Marriage as a
guide on to understanding peopleas they wants, needs, and
(04:42):
desires.
Uh, she was a guest with us lastyear for this same series, but
she reached out after um ourshow last week and she said, Is
that real for me?
Is this that real for me at thistable?
And I said, Krista, you knowwhat?
You are always welcome.
So, Miss Krista, welcome back.
Thank you.
SPEAKER_06 (05:04):
Good.
I'm good.
Thank you so much.
This is gonna be fun.
SPEAKER_05 (05:09):
We had so much fun
last year.
We had so you know, we can't wecan't do this without dog power.
Mike Mike, what's going on,baby?
SPEAKER_07 (05:14):
What's happening?
What's happening?
SPEAKER_05 (05:15):
You ready for this?
SPEAKER_07 (05:16):
Oh, yes, let's do
it.
SPEAKER_05 (05:17):
Hey, you know, our
residence therapist, Mr.
Dr.
Will Washington or WashingtonWellness, what's going on, Dr.
Will.
SPEAKER_01 (05:25):
It's good to see a
celebrity.
It's cool, good to see you, lookamazing.
SPEAKER_05 (05:30):
Oh, nice to meet see
you again, right?
Yes, and I will I can't, Ican't, I have to say this.
I say hey, hey, to all uh I seey'all out there.
I see y'all all out there, and Ithink for coming back.
All right, so let's let's get toit.
Let's get to segment one.
What does trauma do to desire, right?
(05:51):
I want to start with thissegment by normalizing something
um that a lot of people carry alot of shame around, right?
Um, and this is the experiencefor losing your desire, your
sexual desire, your emotionalopenness, your wanting, you
know, after that trauma.
Because we live in a world thattells you that desire is
supposed to be constant, right?
(06:12):
Um are always supposed to wantconnections, always want to have
that intimacy, always want to beopen to love.
And then not, when that part ofyou just goes quiet, right?
There's so much shame around it,like um, like something broken,
like you just lost something, and you would never get that
(06:33):
back.
That you would never get thatback.
But here's what I want you allto understand is that when you
when you are nervous, have thatnervous system experience, you
know, um, of betrayal, andbetrayal is a trauma.
We all go through this, but italso goes through a protection
mode, and part of thatprotection is shutting down the
(06:56):
very thing that made youvulnerable in the first place,
which is intimacy.
So this is not dysfunction, it'snot the function of your body.
I think we talked about this alittle bit last week, but this
is what this is whatintelligence is.
This is what your body, yourbody is um protecting you while
it heals.
(07:17):
And the illness is the healness.
So, Dr.
Will, and I had you first onthis one for you from your
stereoclinical standpoint.
What is actually happening um inthe body when desire shuts down
and uh after trauma, and how isthat different from uh just
(07:37):
losing interest in someone?
SPEAKER_01 (07:42):
Yes, so I'll I'll
keep it I'll keep it very
straightforward.
This is a conversation aboutrepression and suppression.
You have to understand thatfirst and foremost, that
repression is unconscious, sothe person has no access to
what's being pushed down, so thememory, the feeling, or desire
isn't just avoided, it'sgenuinely inaccessible.
(08:03):
There's something in us, in ourin our nervous system, in our
brain that literally just shutsus down.
This is not safe going in.
Right, and and that wassomething coming from the past,
right?
And it your brain alreadylearned that this was the
mechanism you needed to survive.
So it feels so familiar that youbecome unconscious.
The second part is suppression, and suppression is conscious, so
(08:24):
the person knows something therehas been chosen or repeated or
not engaged with, and it becomesalmost like a habitual moment
where it goes beyond their powerand control.
And so when it comes to intimacyand the vulnerability that's
needed for that, we have toreally ask ourselves what was
(08:44):
the thing we thought we weregoing to be, and how was it
taken away from us?
So this is a power and controldynamic that's really happening,
and that's an attachmentconversation.
SPEAKER_05 (08:57):
You know, so you
know, when she explained about
the um her libido, like going, you know, going down the
emotional availability.
Um how can we validate thatshutdown as a protective mode
for her?
SPEAKER_01 (09:13):
Yes, yes.
So instead of looking at from anillness perspective, I would
love to give her the wellnessperspective.
Okay, and understand that yourlibido is an acknowledgement of
the safety and empowerment thatyou hold.
So that's that that's that's afinish line, not not a start
over or do over.
That's saying if I can trust youand connect with you just
(09:36):
enough, if I can bring thisback, and anybody can bring that
libido and that connection back,it's about understanding that
you have to create arelationship dynamic that's
empowering who you are.
So so really the first questionis is what type of experience do
you want to feel empowered by?
That's that's that's where westart with the empowerment.
(09:58):
I love talking about intimacy.
It's such a great thing to talkabout.
SPEAKER_05 (10:03):
Well, thank you for
that one, Dr.
Will.
Now, Krista, um you come at thisfrom a faith perspective.
So when someone has been throughwhat our letter um writer
described and desire goingcompletely quiet, how does
spirituality play a role in thishealing process?
SPEAKER_06 (10:20):
Um, I the first
thing I'm thinking about is has
she met anybody?
Because if she took a break andGod kind of just put those
desires on hold for a season toprotect her, like Dr.
Bill was saying, which I alsoagree with, and like you were
saying, did she ever meetsomeone that feels that she
(10:42):
feels had the godly desire thatshe discerned as someone that
was an option for her?
Because if she just if she metsomeone that she was like, okay,
I'm feeling this person, this issomebody I can consider, but I'm
just not feeling any type ofromantic feelings towards them
or intimacy.
Like, how did you get to thatrevelation that you're there?
You know what I mean?
(11:02):
Because if you haven't metanyone, I think personally it's
just a matter of meeting thatperson God has for you.
Because if you just kind of setup the backstory, if she did all
the work already, more likelythan not, she knows how to
discern who's from God and who'snot, who are the counterfeits,
and there isn't going to bedesire for those people.
(11:24):
But if she's um desire, if shehas someone that she would
consider and then she's notfeeling that desire, I think
that I think that is either one,not the right person or not the
right timing for it.
Because once you come intoalignment with God's will and
the person that's in line withhis will, those desires are
(11:44):
gonna come.
So I truly believe he gave us,he's gonna give us the desires
of our heart, Psalms 37, 4.
So he's gonna give you a desirefor that specific person that he
feels is for you.
And all of that will come back.
I could personally relate alsobecause I'm in a similar
situation where I've been singlefor years and I have been absent
(12:08):
for years, not perfectly.
I'm keeping it 100 all the time, not perfectly towards the
beginning, but I definitely amin that season.
And there's days and monthswhere I'm not even thinking
about marriage, I'm not thinkingabout nothing.
I shut down the desired for sexand all of those things for so
long.
It's just not even a thought.
(12:28):
Now, am I still a woman andstill human?
Yes.
I do I still have those peaksand moments where you know you
start feeling what you'refeeling, absolutely, but it's a
moment, it doesn't go away.
And I've gotten to the pointwhere I just don't act on it.
That's the only differencebetween me and someone who's who
is sexually active, is I justdon't act on it.
You know what I'm saying?
(12:49):
And I control my thoughts in mybody, but I really truly believe
that they are still there.
She just hasn't discerned theright person that God wants to
give her a desire for thatperson for.
SPEAKER_05 (13:00):
Okay, so let me ask
you this.
So, what does God's timing looklike when it comes to reopening
your heart?
Because you know, you have a lotof people that say that, and
they say, you know, I'm justwaiting for God, you know, to
give me a sign.
And they might it might be thereand they missing it because
they're hearing a whole lot ofnoise around them, you know,
different people telling them A,B, C, and D, or even just the
(13:23):
trauma that's that's like, okay,wait a minute, I need to pause
for a minute.
So, with that, also, how doesfaith intersect with the healing
from a romantic betrayal?
SPEAKER_06 (13:34):
How does it
intersect with healing?
Yes.
I think that when when thosewhen God kind of puts those
desires on hold for a season, Ithink it's intentional so that
you can get more intimate withhim and spend more time with
him.
(13:55):
And so he can start purging youfrom those toxic thinking, toxic
behavior, he gives you time torenew your mind, he gets you
used to having peace, a peacefulenvironment, and all of those
things that if you don't havedesires for those things first,
seeking him first, yourlifestyle that's godly, um, a
routine, a regimen that includeshim, then when that person comes
(14:18):
around, one, you probably don'thave enough word to discern.
Two, you you may skip over thatperson because you're not aware
of the godly characteristicsthat should be standing out to
you, and you might just overlookthat person.
So I think that that time aloneprepares you to one, recognize
(14:38):
who he or she is in his timing, and then two um have a desire
for what he wants to create withboth of you guys, because if you
don't have a desire for that asa foundation, you can
self-sabotage the situation.
You can have these issues inyour soul still present that
(14:59):
whether it's due to yourself-image, your self-worth, not
knowing who you truly are inChrist.
And then if you don't have allof those things aligned with his
word, then you can sabotage it.
You can think you're not worthyof that person.
So I think that he keeps us inthis place for a season so that
we can get all of those thingsin line, you know, what we
(15:20):
desire, godly desires versus theworldly desires.
Because you're right, we knowwhat the worldly desires are.
The worldly desires are gonnatell you to have this carnal
list, you know, the six feet, the six figures, the six
everything, right?
He's gonna tell you, you know,he has to look a certain way,
and then you end up withsomebody who is abusive.
You know what I mean?
(15:41):
So I just think that he he takeshis time, and then once you
reach that part, once you reachreach that point, boom, you're
cross, your paths will cross.
I really believe that whenyou're ready.
SPEAKER_05 (15:53):
Beautiful thing
determines when you're ready,
you know what I mean?
Exactly, exactly.
You know, and Mike Mike, I'mgonna bring you in here.
I want to ask you something thatmen rarely get asked uh about is
what does emotional shutdownlook like for you uh after you
have been hurt?
You know, not the anger, butwhat actually happens, you know,
on the inside emotionally, likewhat is going on, you know, with
(16:17):
you when you have that betrayal.
SPEAKER_07 (16:21):
You know, something
um and like Dr.
Will and like Krista, y'all keptit real, y'all kept it
technical, y'all kept itspiritual, but on the real side,
well, when a man shut down, that's the word he shuts down.
Um his conversation may shutdown, his performance might shut
(16:43):
down, uh, there may be somedrinking, some hostility, some,
you know, men hold thingsinside.
Most men hold things, and when Ithink we talked about a little
last week, and when things gethold and hold in inside, it
comes out another way.
Right.
You know, so I know we weretalking about intimacy, we were
talking about um delaying sex,not having sex.
(17:04):
Uh, for some men it goes totallyopposite.
They will have sex all the time, meaningly sex.
Go out there and really, reallylook for it, and it and it means
nothing after they've been hurt, after they've been betrayed, you
know.
So that that is a big sign, youknow.
And in the society, when we talkabout society, what would some
people look at that man as?
(17:25):
Oh, he's a player, he's outthere, he's getting it on, he
got a different woman with himevery night.
So that even more confusingbecause you're going through
some hurt, you're going throughsome betrayal, and but now
people are talking to you likeyou are the man.
So that internally is like aboiling pot.
It's really like a boiling potthat may snap in who knows which
(17:49):
way.
SPEAKER_05 (17:49):
Right, right.
Thank you for that, Mike.
So let me so this is what shealso writes, um, something very
specific about her ownrelationship.
Hold on, with the interview, um,that I want to uh address here.
She says sexual intimacy, um,without some degree of previous
emotional intimacy andcommitment is just not appealing
(18:11):
to me.
That is why I am very mindful ofwho I go to bed with.
Um, it's like she knows, sheknows herself, she knows exactly
um what the intimacy does.
When I said that we went backand forth with this letter with
our um in a for a few times.
Um, and even when she talksabout her emotion, the thing is
(18:32):
she honors everything that she'sbeen through with the
relationship in with the fiveyears that she, you know, worked
on herself.
So that self-knowledge that isone of the most powerful forms
of self-love that one can have, you know.
Um I want to go to the audienceright now.
Right now, where are you rightnow in darkness, still in the
(18:54):
thick of it, or coming out orstarting to feel something
again?
Or are you standing in a light?
So you you made it through afterum you've had trauma in a
relationship.
No judgment.
Where are you right now?
Are you in the darkness?
Are you still in the thick ofit?
Are you coming out, starting tofeel something again, or are you
(19:18):
standing in the light that youmade it through?
Now I see a few people that Iknow that's been through some
things.
They're kind of quiet tonight.
SPEAKER_07 (19:32):
I think we gotta we
got a great ass here tonight.
Everybody just listening, takinginformation in.
SPEAKER_05 (19:37):
Yeah, as Dr.
Will would say, y'all got yourpurpose in the purple, keep it
running.
All right, so let's talk aboutreclaiming your bodies on sacred
ground.
You know, I want to talk aboutwhat actually it means to
reclaim your desire because itdoes not start with just finding
(19:59):
someone new, it doesn't, itstarts with coming back to
yourself first, coming back toyourself, back into your own
body, back into knowing what youwant, knowing who you like,
knowing what makes you feel safeand seen in the whole thing.
Um, and you and no one else, noone else at all.
(20:22):
Um I know when I went through myfirst divorce and getting back
into the um back into the datingfeel of things, I just remember
just understanding that I had tobe me.
There was no more Max, there wasno more anything.
So I knew going into that nextrelationship that I had to just
(20:44):
be honest about what it was thatI wanted in that relationship,
how did I wanted to move in thatrelationship, and what I was
looking for.
It wasn't anything physical, um,anything like that.
I just knew what I needed um uhemotional support, honesty in
that, and we can build thingsfor moving forward.
And even when it came to sex andintimacy, it wasn't about sex,
(21:09):
it was more about um knowing whowe were, one another was, you
know, getting to know each otherin that aspect.
And so it's not like youwouldn't have that connection.
Um, because sex will um kind ofhinder you a little bit, it kind
of, you know, where it makes youemotionally drunk, right?
Yeah, exactly.
(21:29):
There it is.
So having those conversations, like we become first before
anything went into us becauseyou know, when you are coming
from those relationships thatcause trauma, whether it was
just a breakup or cheatingrelationship or you know,
whatever type of betrayal, goinginto that next one, you want to
(21:50):
be very careful on what you'redoing.
But what I like about what shesaid is that you know, you want
to be making sure that you wantto name the difference between
your healing and your Ofcelibacy in avoiding celibacy of
fear.
Does that make sense?
Yeah, because they can lookexactly the same from the
outside, but they can feelcompletely different on the
(22:12):
inside.
And that's the one thing is thatI wanted to make sure when I did
go back in, that I was goingback in because I was there here
and it wasn't hurt.
It wasn't, you know.
Um, I like the here is thehealing celibacy, it's
intentional.
I remember going uh over a yearwithout having sex at all, you
(22:36):
know.
And it was chosen, I chose to dothat.
And when you choose to be inthat season and stillness where
you are actually doing yourinner work and you are cleaning
out those old patterns and justgetting to know yourself again,
that avoidance and celibacy,that's that's that's a different
thing.
(22:56):
So you know the differencebetween the healing and you know
the difference between theavoidance, you know, when you're
telling yourself that you'rehealing actually and you're not,
you know, you know.
So the question is, are youmoving forward?
Are you just staying stillbecause you're afraid?
(23:16):
You know what I mean?
You're afraid to go out there, and like you said before I asked
you about the question, but howdo you know um how God is
leading you to that right personor to have discernment?
Because now you're living infear, right?
Right, yeah, and so it's adifferent type of uh celibacy
that we are going towards, youknow, is it a healing or an
(23:40):
avoidance?
And that's where we want to, youknow, try to help them.
So in your book, Krista, youtalk about the difference
between falling in love anddiscovering love, right?
Right.
I love that that chapter rightthere for people who appear to
be what you want, what you want, but for someone who is coming
(24:01):
out of a season of darkness, allright, they are starting to open
their heart up again.
How do you how do they tell thedifference between a real
connection and anothercounterfeit connection?
SPEAKER_06 (24:15):
I love that you
asked that question.
Um couple of ways, and if youdon't mind, I'm just gonna read
the ways that are listed in herebecause it's just very, very
straight to the point.
It's at the end of the chapterabout counterfeits, and it's
it's it's very, very basic, it'svery simple.
(24:37):
Um I'm gonna give it to youright now.
unknown (24:41):
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (24:42):
So how to discern a
counterfeit.
Now it goes into more detail inonly like two paragraphs each,
but you really, and there's no,I know it's you know, but you
really do got to use the wordbecause the word is the
scripture is is sharper than anytwo-edged sword.
It um the word of God is sharperthan any two-edged sword.
(25:03):
It pierces through the divisionof soul and spirit, join and
marrow, and it's a discerner ofthe thoughts and intentions of
the heart.
So it separates what's yourspirit and it separates what's
your soul that's leading you,right?
So you gotta use the word of Godin order to really be led to
know his ways and be able tohear his voice and recognize,
(25:24):
okay, this is what this is, thisis what that is.
It's very interesting becausewhen I wrote that chapter, I had
encountered all of thosecounterfeits.
Clearly, when I encounteredthem, I did not know that.
So, how did how did I find out?
How did God give me the wisdomfrom experience as well to know
this person is a religiouscounterfeit?
(25:44):
This person is uh a behavior, abusiness opportunist
counterfeit, this person is arefined thug counterfeit.
He took me through theexperiences, and then all when
he was ready to get pour in thisknowledge, he gave me the
understanding of it, but it wasthrough talking to him, it was
through his word.
It didn't come from me, itdidn't come from some uh
psychology book, it came frombeing just having a relationship
(26:08):
with him.
So that's really the way thatyou're gonna discern those
people, you know.
And and once you're able todiscern them, you don't walk in
fear anymore.
Because I get it, you do havekind of have your shield up when
you just get out of a breakup, arelationship, something painful.
I've been through that aftergoing through an abusive
marriage.
But once you once you go throughthat, there's he's gonna he's
(26:32):
gonna set you apart so he canstart to heal you and work on
you.
And then you're gonna start onceyour eye, once he works on you,
your eyes are gonna open to seeso many things that you didn't
see before.
And that's gonna take away thefear supernaturally.
I didn't realize that the fearwas gone.
One day I just look up because Igot all this wisdom.
All right, you know, I'm notafraid to meet somebody, you
(26:55):
know.
But I do agree with you.
Sometimes it does start offwith, you know, I think I'm
being absent as a choice, butreally it's by default because
I'm not really ready.
And that's okay.
You know, that's that's bydesign.
And then the other secondreason, I only have three here,
is examine the fruit or resultsof the relationship.
(27:16):
All the relationships, uh, inall relationships, the person
will lead you either closer toGod or away from God.
Okay, this this reveals if theperson is led by the Holy Spirit
or their soul, personal motives, agendas, freshly appetized.
If they lead you closer to God,then they're led by the Holy
Spirit and most likely not acounterfeit.
Um, but if but you got to keepin mind the desire, desiring
(27:40):
timing, free will, all of thatplays a part.
Okay, and if they lead you awayfrom God, then bam, that's your
answer.
That person's a counterfeit.
So you always got to judge whatis this relationship really
giving, going back to um fallingin love versus discovering love?
Am I just going through thisemotional, you know, repeated
cycle?
(28:00):
You know, I'm really, reallyfeeling this person.
I don't know who he is, I don'tknow who she is yet, but I
really feel this person for thisand that.
Or am I seeing God in thesituation?
Or am I discovering God in therelationship?
Am I that means I'm notemotionally driven, I'm being
purpose-driven.
So when you have that mindset, now you can look and say, okay,
this person, this person isleading me towards God or not.
(28:23):
And the answer is very simple.
If they are, then you knowthere's a possibility, not
necessarily, but there's apossibility, you know, that this
is somebody you can you canconsider.
And if they're leading you away, that's that's an easy no.
You know what I mean?
He's not gonna, God's not gonnatake you on a roller coaster.
He's he's not gonna take you upand down.
And then the last thing is likeyou were talking about, just
(28:44):
working on yourself.
Okay.
The counterfeits, they're themost deceptive type of person
who is um a person with, I callthem once, but they're people
with worldly mindsets, right?
They generally gravitate toother people with those same
type of mindsets.
So if you're changing yourselfand you're working on yourself,
again, that takes away the fearbecause you're not gonna give
(29:07):
those people the time of day.
I meet people all the time.
Sometimes I might even give outmy number because I think
they're nice, but something inmy in my spirit will be like,
nah, I'm good.
You know what I mean?
Because it's, you know, you wegot discernment, and then you
pay more attention to red flags.
So now if I see somebody thatseems very nice, but they got
(29:28):
like yellow eyes or the redeyes, or they something's off,
you know what I'm saying?
Like you could clearly seethere's something going on
there, it's nothing toentertain, you know.
But if you you might discern, okay, this person's a
possibility because um, youknow, they're making me better
in some kind of way, whetherthey realize it or not.
You know what I mean?
(29:48):
They have this kind of influenceon me that's helping me, whether
they realize it or not.
You know what I mean?
So it kind of keeps you in line.
Just one, using God's word, examining the fruit of the
relationship and that person, and then two, working on
yourself.
And I think that's when whenthat fear is gone, because one
thing is beautiful is you're notafraid to be alone.
(30:10):
You've already overcome that.
But now you got to go from thatfear, now that you overcome
that, to let me get back intothe game, let me get back into
being open-hearted to meetpeople.
And I think that that fear justnaturally goes away when you're
ready because you have enoughwisdom to protect yourself and
walk in that protection at thatpoint.
SPEAKER_05 (30:32):
Now, Kristen, let's
not talk about people with the
yellow eyes and the red assbecause we just don't know
what's going on with them.
We can't be prejudiced.
SPEAKER_06 (30:40):
That's true, that's
true, that's true.
You're right, 100%.
I stand corrected.
We may be tired.
But right, right.
But but for real, for real, like, and I'm honestly, it's
it's really a discernment thing.
I can't say it's a visual, youknow what I mean?
I'll be I'll be red eye, tiredsometimes, but it is really
(31:00):
more.
I'm really referring to more ofthe discernment.
Like I might be like, uh, yeah,it's not it.
SPEAKER_05 (31:06):
I'm telling you,
people wouldn't say what you
say, yellow eyes.
Like, I'm I'm so serious whenthey be coming in the DMs.
So you have to make sure, boy.
You have to make sure.
All right, so Dr.
Will.
So, what does a research sayabout how we can rebuild it in
the terms of our own judgmentafter betrayal?
You know, because a lot of a lotof people come out of a
(31:29):
situation like um this that'sjust afraid to trust others and
themselves.
They are afraid to trusteverybody, especially when they
know they've made a a choice, adecision to be in a relationship
that probably mimic therelationship that they just got
out of a few years ago.
SPEAKER_01 (31:49):
Yeah, so I I can be
very, very straightforward with
this.
You you have to learn how totrust yourself again.
The story and narrative that youwent through in that
relationship, you're afraid thatyou might recycle that.
A lot of times the things thatyou're triggered by were
actually narratives of momentswhere you weren't in your power,
where your parent power is takenaway, where you were not
(32:12):
reminded of how valuable youare.
And sometimes trauma chasesfamiliarity or trauma chases
convenience, it doesn't chasequality.
And so what it's doing is if itsees somebody and you feel a way
about them, or you might beputting some energy towards
them, it's not just becauseyou're projecting, it's also you
trying to make sure that youhave a safety in yourself.
(32:35):
And sometimes we confuse safetywith survival, and we have to
understand do I feel safe withthis person or do I feel like
I'm surviving with this person?
Because sometimes survival feelsreally good because you know
survival feels like a reallyheavy blanket, but that
blanket's gonna eventuallysuffocate you, right?
And so it's important tounderstand um when to start and
(32:57):
stop in relationships because alot of times we end up creating
attachments, and attachments arewhen we don't know when
something starts or stops.
So you really have to askyourself, what do I need to feel
like myself when it comes tolove?
When you love somebody, they'resupposed to make you love while
you're yourself even more.
The more I love you, the more Ilove myself.
(33:19):
That's the true definition ofintimacy.
The more I'm into you, the moreI realize how into myself I need
to be.
Right?
So we have to remind ourselvesthat safety, survival ship, and
intimacy, it definitely is apsycho-spiritual connection.
SPEAKER_05 (33:35):
I love that.
Thank you for that one, Doctor.
I I I love that.
Um, doc, are you ready for this?
So, what do what do men getwrong about how to show up for
women who are in the process ofreclaiming herself?
What does real patience actuallylook like?
SPEAKER_07 (33:55):
Well, that's the
beginning of it.
What do men get wrong?
Damn near everything.
Damn near everything.
Because like we talked aboutbefore, men don't go through the
same kind of emotions and samekind of thing, uh kind of things
when they're healing than whenwomen are healing.
So when they come into arelationship with a woman who is
(34:16):
healing, their main thing islike, okay, what's going on?
What why is this?
And then even if they had thatconversation, well, and she
says, My last man, it is my lastman, his friend, we'll forget
about Elf him.
He ain't here.
I'm here.
I'm the one you need to thinkabout, you know.
So a lot of don't have thatprocess of letting that person
(34:39):
heal and healing with thatperson.
Men think is like it's beendone, let's move on.
Let's get let's get started.
And it's not a bad man.
He could be a very good man, avery good man, but wants to
forget about his past and gonnaforget about her past, and they
want to move on and startbuilding, but it's hard to build
(35:02):
on that foundation when it's notfixed.
SPEAKER_05 (35:05):
And yeah, that's a
good one.
That's a good one, Mike.
So, Dr.
Will, what Mike just said nowtell us what that is clinically
wise.
Like, what like what's reallygoing on with yeah, what's my
problem, Dr.
Will?
Right, yeah, give us a dash.
SPEAKER_01 (35:19):
It's almost that
that's a sociocultural frame in
that, right?
So I don't I don't think thatmen start off wrong.
I think men are taught andconditioned not how to hold
space, and that's not just a manthing.
That that's that's that's athat's a human thing.
A lot of us are not taught aboutemotional intelligence all the
time, but we don't talk aboutwhat's the application mean of
(35:43):
that, right?
A lot of us to see all thesewords, depression, trauma,
anxiety, see all these words, but do we know how to hold space
with people that actually holdthose things?
We talk about all these mentalhealth diagnoses, and we don't
know like if you have if youhave ADHD and anxiety, oh I can
deal with you, but once you havebipolar two or you have
schizoaffective disorder, thenoh, I can't deal with you.
You're doing too much, right?
(36:05):
And so I I think it's it'sunderstanding that when it comes
to men and relationships and andunderstanding that we have to
first accept that we may havenot been built to hold space in
a level of depth, right?
There are the to me, there'sthree levels to to love and
(36:25):
intimacy.
There's three levels, and and Ithink the one that we're talking
about is the one that you haveto earn, not the one that should
be given.
And so we usually offer ourhearts to people that have not
earned it, and we may not evenknow what we're offering, we
might be just giving our heartaway.
So I think it goes back to doyou know if you're giving your
(36:45):
heart or do you know if you'reoffering your heart?
Because the vessel is alwaysgoing to be the vessel that
spirit transforms.
SPEAKER_05 (36:54):
I love that.
Oh, y'all come in a day.
I love it.
All right, all right.
So, audience, it's your turn.
What would it mean to you tofully reclaim your desire and
your openness, your trust andlove?
What would that actually looklike in your life?
I would love for you to be openand drop it in the chats for us
(37:16):
right now.
Um, if you all don't mind todrop it on in the chats right
now, and um also uh I know wehadn't really been talking about
this a lot.
Um, you know, we we will say ittowards the end, but I want to
just remind you all that we areraising money for mental health
awareness and stuff like that.
So I'll probably mic is getready to put it up on on the um
(37:39):
in the chats right now is thatwe do have uh a gofundme.com
give classy or love and mentalhealth, and we are raising
money.
Every single dollar goes to umto the mental health uh
awareness um fund for them ofAmerica.
That's exactly where it goes to.
So this is just our part ofgiving um to that cause, as well
(38:03):
as also Maverick.
Um we want to have Maverickfight his disease.
He's a little boy who um whoactually our guest for next
week, he's on tour and he'sraising money while he's on tour
um for him as well.
Um so you guys look at the linksthat's coming in here and um,
(38:24):
you know, give a couple ofdollars, you know, um, for the
calls.
I just wanted to pause for thatmoment because I know I hadn't
really been, you know, speakingand talking about it uh like I
used, you know, like I did lastyear.
But I want to just bring thatout to awareness that yeah,
we're talking about it with ourvoices, but let's do the action
by, you know, putting somedollars behind it to push it
(38:46):
forward, you know, for themboth.
All right, so let's talk abouther returning back into the the
love.
She writes something towards theend of her letter that I want to
read to you all.
Um, hold on right now becausethis is the part that tells uh
me everything about where um sheis now in her um in her journey.
(39:10):
So she writes, now I am muchmore grounded in my own energy,
which is going to um betterfilter out the woman that comes
into my reality.
I can already feel her energyfield coming into mine.
Um she did not just um excuseme, she did not just reclaim her
(39:31):
desire.
She reclaimed her standards ofwhat she wanted out of that next
person, out of that woman.
Um, she came back more grounded, more discerning, more herself
than she was before any of ithappened.
So, Krista, for you coming froma spiritual um perspective of it
all, um what does it mean to beso grounded in you know, in
(39:56):
yourself that you can feel theright person?
And I know we talked about thediscernment, but how does
somebody know and feel that theright person is coming from
before they arrive?
Is um is that more beautiful?
Is that um intuition or is it acombination of both?
SPEAKER_06 (40:13):
I think it's um
definitely both, but I would say
knowledge of self,self-awareness, because when
you're self-aware to a set thelevel that you really we desire
to be on, to to walk toexperience what God has for us,
you know your purpose, you knowwhat you need.
And then when you know what youneed, you can you can recognize
(40:37):
it.
So I think that it's it'sself-awareness that that puts
you in that place because if youdon't know what you need, you're
gonna focus on the things thatyou want.
And that doesn't matter if thatperson doesn't have what you
need.
Like you were talking about itearlier.
Like if you know, you know youneed somebody to cover you.
(40:58):
You got a you got a great callin your life, purpose on your
life, you got things to do.
I need somebody that's gonna beon the, you know, that's gonna
pray for me, that's gonna teachour kids a certain way to live,
um, that's gonna have these wiseconversations with me.
So I that that's gonna prep bothof us, you know, that's gonna
have uh intellectualconversations.
I know that I'm gonna need acovering.
(41:19):
I know that I'm gonna need aprayer partner, I know I'm gonna
need a purpose partner, somebodythat can go into business with
me, you know, someone that hadthat doesn't have to have the
same purpose, but at least hassome kind of ambition and
supportive of my ambition andvice versa.
So those are the things that youknow you need, right?
Because that's different foreverybody.
(41:39):
But once you discover, once youknow who you are, you're
self-aware, you know what youneed.
Now, okay, now the wants comeinto play.
Okay, so this person got what Ineed.
Now he makes me laugh.
You know what I'm saying?
Now, you know, this person isvery cute to look at.
I'm attracted to him.
Forget everybody else, I'mattracted to him.
Yeah, so you that's when you putit all together, and and you
(42:02):
can, you know, you coulddefinitely move forward, but I I
really think it starts withself-awareness, you know.
SPEAKER_05 (42:10):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I I I totally agree with you onthat one, you know, and why I
say that is because I remember Ihad this conversation with my
husband, and you know, the theway that we met, we met okay, I
couldn't give me nobody but himbecause he was the only one who
could do it and deal with all ofthis.
You know what I'm saying?
(42:30):
But my I never asked for anybodyto be and it said you don't have
to be rich, you know.
We can build things all I needto do is support me, and support
me is being that person that'sgonna pray with me, being that
person who is going to ride withme, as I always say, I say with
my my my client to my bonnie, you know what I'm saying?
(42:51):
So understanding what it is thatwe will have to do, that our
relationship is ourrelationship, and understanding
that.
So when going forward, that'swhy I love that going into that
next um season, a chapter of mylife during that, it was more
intentional, and it was moreokay, this is what I'm really
(43:12):
looking for.
It doesn't matter what thatperson looks like on the
outside, it really is on what'son the inside that matters the
most.
It really does.
Yeah.
So I want to ask all three ofyou right now, what does it
actually look like when someoneis truly, when someone is truly
ready and not just saying thatthey're ready?
(43:33):
Ready?
What is the sign?
You know how the people say, I'mready to love, I'm ready to find
my new boo, I'm ready to findthat girl to settle down with to
have my babies.
Like, what does that really looklike instead of just the words?
What does it look like?
SPEAKER_04 (43:46):
Mm-hmm.
Who goes first?
SPEAKER_01 (43:52):
I would say ladies
first.
Okay.
SPEAKER_06 (43:56):
All right.
Um, I I would say it looks likecontent.
To some degree.
It's like you're not, you're notrushing, you're not desperate,
you're not um considering everysingle person that you meet.
You know what I'm saying?
You're more selective because II can just relate to that.
Just a quick little story.
(44:16):
Um, after my divorce, about ayear and a half after my
divorce, I thought I was ready,right?
To just because I was reallyjust craving companionship.
Because after you come out of a15-year relationship, you're
used to that friend.
Whether that was a friend ornot, you're still used to that
person being around you.
So I was craving that, but I Iclearly remember God telling me
(44:37):
on my couch, you know, this ispeaceful.
You're at peace.
Now, this is the first time Ihad peace in my household that I
that I got on my own afterdivorce in in over a decade.
So I'm at peace, and I rememberclearly, distinctively, hearing,
okay, you're at peace.
Enjoy the peace.
But that soul desire in me, thathuman desire wanted
(45:00):
companionship.
So, what did I do?
Um, per first person tries togravitate to me and fast
forward, really uh refined thecounterfeit who had a lot of
criminal mindsets and thingslike that that could have taken
me on a different path.
But it was, thank God it was uhsome distance, long distance,
because you know it can only getso close.
(45:21):
But at the same time, because ofwhat I was craving, I gravitated
to that person.
So I think that when you're whenyou're really content, you're
really ready, you you don'tfulfill those voids anymore.
There's really no voice tofulfill.
You don't find somebody becausethey got money because you are
down and out.
You know what I'm saying?
(45:42):
You don't that's not yourmotive, you know what I mean?
You don't find someone that canput it down in bed because you
know, you just you're stillgoing through that that that
desire, that strong, you know, because you you're not lusting
like that anymore.
So I think it's contentment.
And then when you're when you'recontent and you're just kind of
(46:03):
just settled with, okay, I'm I'mgood with God's presence, I'm
good with how things are untilHe brings someone.
When you really truly get tothat point, you don't you don't
jump into things to fill a void.
And I think that's what itreally looks like.
You're more content.
SPEAKER_05 (46:20):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um Mike, Mike, Dr.
Will.
SPEAKER_07 (46:24):
Go ahead, Dr.
Will.
SPEAKER_01 (46:26):
Okay, so for me,
I'll I'll do a little ping pong
with it.
Um it starts out with humility.
Realizing that I'm not findingthe perfect person.
I'm finding the person for me.
I'm learning that my preferencesare important.
I'm learning my compatibilitykeeps my peace.
(46:49):
I learned that my companionshipis playful.
I learned that my couplehood isa representation of my
healthiest self, not my best.
I learned that my partnership isfunctional and fulfilling.
And I learned that my marriageis my legacy, not my lineage.
(47:11):
So I would keep it, I would keepit at that.
That's when you know and um, andif you want to really make sure
you're doing all that, you haveto first remove the shame and
the guilt.
And you realize that your lossesare actually lessons.
If you still see people as aloss, then you'll never
(47:32):
appreciate how God has made themlessons.
So I think it's important tounderstand the faith and the
humility of knowing that it'snot your job to know, it's your
job to be faithful to theprocess.
SPEAKER_05 (47:46):
Beautiful.
There you go, dropping somelittle gems there, Dr.
Will.
I don't know if I can't belooking at Dr.
Will right now.
Come on now.
Not only knowledge, but with thepoetry too.
I saw Chris being a little bit,yeah.
SPEAKER_01 (48:11):
I'm sensitive.
I'm I'm sensitive.
I'm a sensitive one.
SPEAKER_07 (48:18):
Right?
That's there you go.
Go ahead and bark it on.
SPEAKER_01 (48:20):
No, finish on,
finish home, finish on strong.
SPEAKER_07 (48:23):
You know, something
like then what you said in that
question is what is the sign?
And uh, I don't think this onlya sign for men, but and this
answer is it's something Iexperienced, and it's you know
they're ready when they can sitin silence, and when you sit in
silence, that's when you canlisten.
Yeah, so as I was saying before, about men can be impatient, be
(48:47):
like, let's go, let's move.
But when you find that personand y'all both can sit in
silence together, and that'sthat means you're listening to
each other.
You hear what she's saying, shehears what you say.
You know, then you will havethat break of silence where
ain't nobody saying nothing, buty'all still communicate.
(49:07):
And I think that's a personready, male or female, when they
can sit in with that otherperson and they can sit in in
silence and still share so manythings together.
Yeah, you know, that's a signwhen both may be ready to move
on because you you did thehealing for for yourself, each
person.
Now y'all come together and healtogether.
SPEAKER_05 (49:29):
Yeah, I love that.
I love that.
So audience, it's your turnagain.
Have you ever lost someonecompletely after a heartbreak
and your desire and your trustand your openness?
What brought you back?
What brought you back, or areyou still trying to find your
way?
Uh drop it in the chats.
Drop it in the chat.
(49:49):
You know, this has been a reallygood um conversation today.
It really has.
It's been a really goodconversation today.
And uh uh let's let's let's talkabout this before we uh we
close.
No, keep on, keep on before weum close out because we we're
almost we're at week three.
We almost at the end of uh theum the whole series.
(50:11):
And before I let any we lety'all go tonight, I want to
close out with this arc for umthe first three weeks of the
series because we have been on ajourney together.
Dr.
Will, we've been on dirty Mikeand Chris.
I know you just joining us rightnow this month, but I want to
honor um each one of the weeksthat you know we were on,
especially so you can knowexactly what we have been
(50:32):
talking about too, as well,Krista.
You know, on week one, we talkedabout what happens when someone
takes um, takes the truth awayfrom you, takes your um how you
can make a decision foryourself.
And the takeaway from that wasyour pain is valid, but your
intuition was right all along.
That was, and then in week two,we talked about what we um what
(50:56):
we choose not to see, the redflags, you know, what we choose
not to see, we choose to stay init.
One of the ways that we camefrom there is that owning your
part in um and not self-claimingbut the self-liberation.
And then tonight in week three,we talk about what happens to
your desire, your body, and yourheart in the aftermath.
(51:19):
And the takeaway is due what shesays in this letter as well.
She said, um, it is my beliefthat if I have those feelings
within me, it's because there issomeone out there for me.
I don't know who she is yet, butI can already feel her energy
(51:40):
feel coming to mind.
Is that now I am much moregrounded in my own energy.
Again, she did not just reclaimher, she reclaimed, she
reclaimed her standard, and thatis the return.
(52:01):
That is what love, loss, andreclaim actually look like in a
real human life, and this iswhat I want to say to her too.
Um, I know she's overseas, she'syou know, she probably watched
this afterwards.
I truly want to thank her forthe letter and us corresponding
back and forth because honestly,I did not know how this series
(52:23):
was gonna turn out with that, but I knew that we had to do it.
I didn't know how um came.
And I want I do I want to thankyou, Dr.
Will, for rocking with methrough these two weeks.
I know you'll be back next week, but rocking with me through
these three weeks with this.
You know, you'd be like, okay, now what you got going on now?
(52:44):
So into where it really doesmake um where we we make it make
sense, especially coming fromthe mental aspect of it all.
I think when people think abouta mental awareness, they think
of crazy, they think of someonethat doesn't have it together,
you know what I'm saying?
So they don't really look atbeing in a relationship in love
and how it can truly damage youwith betrayal, trauma, and all
(53:08):
of those things come in with themental aspect of who we are in
our life.
And so I wanted to make surethat we were we were able to
honor not only the letter, buteven honor our listeners and
honor what this month is allabout.
Um so I guess right here, umwhat I want for you all to take
(53:29):
home tonight is that your desiregoing quiet after trauma is not
damaged.
It is your system protecting youwhile it heals, and I want you
to honor that.
Is what Dr.
Wills talked about earlier, andthen also be intentional.
Stillness is one of the mostpowerful healing tools that
exist.
So do not be ashamed of yourquiet season, you know.
(53:53):
Take that time.
Um, the young lady took fiveyears, don't rush it because you
cannot rush coming back andreturning to the your desire.
But you can create conditionsfor it, safety, honesty,
self-knowledge in time.
Um when it comes back, and willwhen you come back, you would
(54:15):
not just just want everybody.
You know what I'm saying?
You would know who you wantbefore who you are.
You y'all heard what Dr.
Wheel just spilled all that downthere?
That was just so love, and andthat comes from really knowing
who you are, knowing what youwant, and not know not caring
about anybody else on theoutside of you, because now you
(54:37):
know the difference.
Now you know the difference.
Krista, for you, any last wordsout tonight?
What do you want every woman, aman watching tonight to hold on
to?
SPEAKER_06 (54:50):
To just know, um,
regardless, where wherever you
are, as far as the phase of thedarkness, whether you're in it,
whether you're going through it,whether you're freshly out of
it, whether you've been out ofit for a minute, there's a
purpose behind it, and God'sgonna use it.
He said, All things worktogether for good.
(55:11):
Those who love us, those who arecalled according to his purpose,
all of the trauma, all of theheartbreak, all of the things
that you went through is goingto be used in a in a powerful
way beyond what you may be ableto see right now.
It's not in vain.
It wasn't just to take youthrough pain, just to take you
through pain.
(55:32):
It was to strengthen you, it wasto bring you closer to him, to
more dependent on him.
And he's gonna use it so not tolook at it as something that has
diminished your value ordiminished who you are, but
something that has strengthenedyou, something that has given
you even a greater purpose, whether you see that now or not.
And he's going to use yourexperiences to help somebody
(55:54):
else, and that's gonna lookdifferent for different people.
It may not, it may be the yourneighbor, it may be just talking
to someone on the street, it maybe talking to your coworker, it
may be a platform, but God isgonna use that in some kind of
way.
It might be your child, protecting them from going
through certain things thatyou've experienced.
So know that, and also know thatif you have a desire for
(56:16):
someone, he's not gonna leaveyou hanging.
He gave you that desire for arelationship or a marriage or
just you know, to be withsomeone.
So, with that desire, he's gonnagive you everything that comes
with it the sexual desire, thethe romantic desire, he's gonna
restore all those things in theright timing.
(56:36):
It's not gone, it's there, andhe's gonna he's going to only
bring that forth.
The word talks about how youknow he awakens love when he's
ready to awaken love.
And it's gonna be it's gonnacome together, it's gonna be
there, it's going to resurface,so to speak, um, when it's the
(56:57):
right person in the rightsituation, the right time.
And so it's nothing to worryabout.
You just got to get through theprocess, like Dr.
Will was saying, just getthrough the process and and
don't fear, don't fear anything.
Don't fear if you're gonna likesomebody again or not, don't
fear if those feelings are goneor not.
They're still there, they'restill there.
So just be encouraged and knowthat.
And everything that you want isa full package, it's gonna come
(57:20):
with everything that comes withit.
SPEAKER_05 (57:22):
Beautiful, Miss
Krista.
Doc pound Mike Mike, uh, closeus week three.
What has this conversation meantto you personally?
Real and from the heart.
SPEAKER_07 (57:31):
Yeah, it's real,
it's real simple.
You want peace over chaos.
After you went through drama, you went through this situation
where it's a heartbreak or or aloss uh of a lobe.
You you really want to sit inpeace.
And once you sit in peace andstart healing yourself, start
doing things you like to do,start doing things that's good
for you and yourself.
(57:51):
Before you know it, that personwill walk in your life and you
might not even see that thereright away.
Right.
But from that, a relationshipcan build, a friendship can
build, and before you know it,you you back on that path.
Right.
You know, but you gotta have thepeace before the chaos, right?
And you get over that situationand you take it home from there.
SPEAKER_05 (58:12):
Right.
I I love that you said that.
All right, and Dr.
Will, what is one um clinicalnote that you can get?
One thing that you want everyonethat's watching to carry forward
with them from tonight.
SPEAKER_01 (58:23):
Yes, in in any
relationship dynamic, it's
important to understand thevalue of patience, tolerance,
and endurance.
And when you start learning yourpatience, you learn what you're
waiting for.
When you learn your tolerance, you learn how much how much more
or less you can take of acertain behavior, right?
(58:46):
And then lastly, endurance.
You start learning how long do Ireally need to learn you before
I move on.
Right?
So I think important theimportant part of love and and
bringing yourself to self-loveis knowing that you can still
the best way to heal with thatis actually loving other people.
So there's no better way to helpyourself than to help someone
(59:09):
else.
And so I highly recommendhelping other people during your
broken process because you learnhow good your heart really is in
the in the in the process.
SPEAKER_05 (59:21):
Yes, beautiful,
beautiful.
