Speaker 2 (00:19):
That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Justin Extrom Purple Positivity back
once again, two weeks in a row. That's got to
be some sort of record, huh. Thanks to Beer Belly
Sports and more specifically, the birthday man himself, Matty GI
Matt Jeffrey Man, Happy birthday. I you know, I don't

(00:43):
know if wounded Gazelle's slash, wounded drafts, wounded baby drafts
age the same as man children like I do. But
I want to say somewhere between thirty five and forty
something like that. I'm not sure. Happy birthday, my good man.
Thank you as always forget me this opportunity, and again
special thanks to Seventh Avenue Pizza. I kind of I

(01:07):
was too excited about Matt Jeffrey's birthday that I almost
forgot about the actual sponsor, Seventh Avenue Pizza. Get some.
Hopefully somebody sends Manny g some pizza for his birthday.
All right, let's get to it first preseason game. This Saturday,
Minnesota Vikings take on the Houston Texans. Obviously, it's not

(01:30):
it's not one of those things where it's like, Okay,
it's mill season. Texans should be good, right, They're a
team that's on there. They're on the cusp, kind of
like the Vikings. So I think just seeing schemes like
that will kind of help, like different schemes, just you're
not seeing your number ones, Like nobody is playing their

(01:52):
entire number one roster, which the Vikings. This is probably
the earliest that all their starters are figured out in
I honestly, I think the only thing up for grabs
in a starting position is kick returner, punt returner. Man.
They love Kay Felton, they love a few of those

(02:14):
other guys, those younger guys. And it looks like ty
Chandler has been relegated to the bench when it comes
to kick returning. So I mean, I had a love
hate relationship with him anyway, because it always seemed like
he would never take it out, and then when it
was most important that he didn't take it out, and

(02:34):
that's when he take it out and get to about
the twenty one yard line, twenty two yard line losing
three yards. Hey, never really busted anything, so I don't know.
Maybe maybe some of those younger guys can help with that,
But in my mind, the base three four defense starters

(02:54):
pretty much set the base offense. Left guard kind of question.
Donovan Jackson, is he gonna be starting right away as
a rookie? I seem to think so, a lot of
people seem to think so. He's number one on the
depth chart where he look at ESPN, NFL dot com,
all those that's number one there. I think their pace

(03:17):
offense is set, except for the fact that we did
find out for the very first for the three games,
three games that in which we need to go at
least two in one, the Vikes have to go to
and one in those first three games. It's just one
of those things that has to happen. You have to

(03:37):
win two of those first three games. You will be
without Jordan Edison. So that is a spot where the
number three wide receiver. What are they gonna do with that.
I want to see a whole bunch, whole bunch of
those rookies this week. I want to see all those speedsters.

(03:58):
I want to see I want to see some of
the young guys. Apparently they are having a little bit
issues running some routes you got. I think rondel Moore,
he's probably more than likely if they hang on to him,
if they don't let him go so we'll go find
a different team or something like that. I think he

(04:19):
might build going. He's kind of a one trick pony
though right he can't really He's a little more rounded
than most of the other guys though, so I think
rondel Moore he's probably gonna be that three for the
first three weeks and kind of be relegated to that
four and five spot. I don't know, it's gonna be

(04:41):
a pretty good battle. I think we're gonna see a
lot of two tight end sets, to be honest with
you too. And I think with the emphasis on trying
to run the ball with Mason and Jones and then
that offensive the Minnesota Moving Company, that offensive line, I
honestly think that are gonna try very very hard to

(05:02):
be able to run the ball on those third and
short situations and fourth and short instead of having to
like go to these weird little trick bootlegs or something
like that, because they can't ever seem to get that
one yard when they need to, or even just on
if you try to take a shot first down, you
miss it being able to run the ball effectively for

(05:23):
four or five six yards on second down. And that
is a point of emphasis, I believe, and if it's not,
it definitely should be. And telling from the offensive signings,
I think it will be. However, our tight end room, Ah,
who exactly is gonna step up? You got Oliver who,

(05:44):
God bless his soul. He's a great blocker. He's just
not one of those guys that's gonna run that seam
route and be a guy that you want to see
towards that goal line then trying to make a catch. TJ.
Hockinson still coming off of that injury, so I mean
he's not. It still shows that he's questionable on depth
charts and all that stuff. I mean, he's not the

(06:05):
youngest guy in the world. He is still a third
or fourth highest paid tight end talking about per year salary.
But so here we go. What I just want to
see a lot of what the Vikings want to see
schematic wise, Like I want to see them show us
the two tight end look and try to get some

(06:29):
sort of semblance of just any sort of momentum whatsoever.
I don't care who's out there. Threes fours, the number
eighty two on the roster, I don't care. Man, the
guy that's barely on there. The only reason why he's
got a spot is because somebody's hurt. Right now, come on,
just get in there and do your best punter kicker

(06:53):
there set. I mean, you can be as scared as
you want, just like the rest of US Minnesota Vikings
fans were always scared when it comes to anything kicking.
But I think against the Texans, I'm not gonna predict
preseason football. It takes a sadistic sob to bet or
to like stake their claim the preseason football. It's a

(07:16):
home game. It's probably the cheapest game you're gonna be
able to get to all year. Maybe the Patriots next week,
I don't know. But get there and just take a
look at the offense and defensive line. See some of
that rotations, Like what downs are they bringing in some
new fresh legs. That's something that Brian Flores will never

(07:38):
go away from. You see in trading camp. You saw
from the night practice that he is relentless. He wants
to make sure that everyone knows that the Vikings defense
is for real. Everyone's talking about this offense offense, offense, offense,
and Brian Flores is gonna come up and say like, hey,
you forgot about defense. He's gonna show you that product

(07:59):
on the field. I also want to see Dallas Turner
as much as possible. I I don't know if they're
gonna give him the old college try where it's like
he plays every snap, every defensive snap in these first three.
I'd like to see him a full game. Maybe game two.
I'd like to see him because man, he was getting

(08:21):
pushed around on those one on ones special thanks to
Sean Borman. Sean Borman, love you man. Those videos were great.
Obviously you're going down there, you're trying to hang out
with your family and stuff like that, but still give
us good content. You always give me great content, whether
it as on a friend point or if just listening

(08:42):
to my podcast special. Thanks to you, man. I hope
you somebody's got to pick you up and you gotta
be a You are fantastic human, good at everything that
you do. So I hope that you can continue writing
and podcasting and all that stuff. So that's happy horseshit
out of the way. That the video that I'm going
off of, and Dallas Turner looked like crap, he looked terrible,

(09:05):
and Donovan Jackson like he looked pretty bad too, on
just a couple of them. But those are one v
ones where the defense should look just a little bit
better because you're the starting point. You get to you
get to be proactive, and then the offensive line kind
of has to be reactive, and being reactive is a
little tougher on those one view ones. Best versus best

(09:28):
whatever you want to call him, just on they just
do that work. I guess the eleven on eleven's Dallas
Turner was looking quite a bit better, so I'll take
Sean's word for that. I didn't see any video footage
of him doing a lot better there. But Dallas Turner, man,
you gotta show us something. I've been saying it. This
is the second podcast that I've said you got to
see something from you, Bud Okay, So we'll wrap this up.

(09:53):
Just take preseason football for what it is, three pm,
going against the text, Houston Texans. Both these teams should
have a chance at making the playoffs once again this year.
Could be fun, just to sit back and kind of watch.
Don't get too overly anxious, don't get too excited one

(10:14):
way or another, because I remember last year we saw
JJ McCarthy throw some bombs and he looked great and
then he got hurt. All it takes is one major
injury to churn everything on its head. Just hope for
everyone to be safe and sound and healthy. Keep everybody
there and Jordan Adison three game suspension, find out who's

(10:37):
gonna be taking his place. Find out how you're gonna do.
Let's see some looks there. No, I've rambled long enough.
Happy birthday, Mattie Gee, Happy birthday matt Jeffrey, Thanks to
Seventh Avenue Pizza. And until next week, scold bitches
