Our own Ted Schwerzler from Minnesota Sports Fan, paints a clear picture: Minnesota’s week was rough, particularly on the mound. Ted is calling for urgent reinforcement, whether call-ups or trades to provide innings and stability. Without that, expect a continuation of these struggles.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ted Talks by Ted Swetzlers have brought to you by
Paul Bunyan Communications providing fiber optic fast Internet up to
ten gigabytes. TV voiced it in their certified Apple service center.
They're serving the Pamidgian Grand Rapids area since nineteen fifty two.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Ted Swetzler went back with another Ted Talks Twins Weekly
Twins breakdown at til Schwuares on Twitter, Minnesota sportsfan dot com.
It has been an ugly go of it for the
Twins of late. They are losers of nine of their
last ten. It has been just an awful June. After

(00:34):
winning that thirteen game or having that thirteen game winning
streak in May, it looked like the Twins might turn
things around, but nothing has gone right for this team.
The injuries continue to mount, but it's really the performance obviously.
You know, last week, finishing a road trip against Cincinnati,
they salvaged a game on Wednesday to avoid an zero

(00:57):
to six road trip against Houston and since and then
they come home and immediately get swept by the Brewers.
Last night another ugly one against Seattle eleven to two.
The lineup has started to come around for this team.
It looks like they put up some runs. I don't
know if that's weather or changes in the atmosphere or
the ball or what, but it hasn't mattered because they're

(01:21):
without Pablo Lopez and then they are without Zebbie Matthews. Obviously,
Matthews was not necessarily rolling at the time he went down.
But we have seen David Festa make almost no adjustments
from where he was at last year. He had a
nice three start stretch earlier this year while filling in
for Pablo, but he's been lit up multiple times. He

(01:42):
was used as a bulk starter on Sunday against the Brewers.
Danny Coolham comes in, has two lefties to face. He's
been great as a reliever, especially against lefties, and unfortunately
gives up a run. But then Festa just comes in
and turns it into batting practice. More of the same
last night for the Twins with Bailey Ober, who has

(02:04):
been nothing short of bad for the past month. The
Twins have commented multiple times on him working through some
mechanical changes. They thought they found something in Cincinnati to
make some tweaks. His velocity looked okay on Monday night
against Seattle. He's ninety one ninety two, but the ride

(02:27):
up in the zone and with his extension has worked.
The problem is he's still not crisp enough to be
going with the stuff that he currently has gave up.
I believe it was three home runs, two three run
shots and a solo shot, regardless of if you look
at the quality stretches between those balls, which I believe

(02:48):
he retired eight in a row at one point. It's
just waiting for that next, that next shoot to fall.
He just is nibbling around the zone. He did have
seven strikeouts last night and didn't walk batter, but seven
hits and just having to work around constant problems is
not a great thing. Obviously, Joey Wentz has been terrible

(03:08):
since the Twins acquired him and swapped out Travis Adams
as their long reliever. He finished the game last night,
gave up a home run to Cal Rawly, who has
pinned nothing short of incredible this year. Aaron Judge wasn't otherworldly.
It would be the catcher that is just blasting home
runs left and right that would be leading MVP voting.

(03:32):
One obviously big note that came out last night. The
Twins did pick up the twenty twenty six option for Rockabaldelli,
which is a nice vote of confidence from Derek Falvey.
I think though it puts a bullseye on what Derek
Falve does next. This offseason and the trade deadline last year,

(03:53):
the Twins front office opted to do nothing. They sat
on their hands, They grabbed a nothing burger reliever last year,
and then they swapped out some pieces this offseason. They've
sat around a large core that has been with the
Twins or in the system for quite some time and
not produced. And at some point now it has to

(04:13):
become on the players to shuffle the roster. So I
can assure you Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa are not
going anywhere. I don't know that Joe Ryan is going anywhere,
and I would bet Pablo Lopez is not going anywhere
at least, you know, deadline this offseason, anything like that.
But your Walner's and your Larnyx and some of your Jeffers,

(04:37):
some of the guys that you have tied your team
to just aren't doing it anymore. And finding a way
to shuffle that roster, maybe bring in a different dynamic,
whatever it is, is probably the next thing that Falvian,
new general manager, Jeremy Zoli have to look at, but
for now, Baldelli will be back in twenty twenty six.

(04:58):
The Twins have three more against Seattle and they need
to stop this freefall soon if they're going to create
a relevant rest of the summer. Check Back next week.
