I happen to know he's going to be at that
abandoned gas station on Route twenty at nine o'clock tonight.
It's your one chance to get him.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
I still think this is a joke, but enough people

Never mind the dock. Take me to Boston Blackis Place, Blackies.
Why Why Because he's the lowest, dirtiest rap that ever lived.
That's why he sent me up here to get jim

I was just going out the door. Uh uh, there's
someone at the door.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Go on and.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
In ten minutes, Mary, I promise, put on your hat
and coat. Oh hello, hello, Blackie. Know me, don't you,
Mike Burns, Yes, sure, I'll be right with him. Hold
across from the just the maid, Mary. She wants to
clean up in here, I think the maid. Oh, she's

(08:22):
got a cold. I'll see you in ten minutes, just
as I promise. Bye bye, bye, Well, Mike, as long
as you're here, come on in only. I have a date.
Suppose I get a girl for you. It will be
a nice see only date.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
You're having the night with me?

Speaker 4 (08:38):
And this you see what this is?

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Looks like a gun.

Speaker 5 (08:42):
That's just what it is.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
And you know why I've got it on you too,
do I? That's new to me.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Don't try to go innocent on me, Blackie. I don't
like phones.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I don't like some my other Mike, and I really
don't like not knowing what you're talking about. It's about
a prop. You know all about it.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
You sent me out to that closed up gas station
to get Jim Martin the way he set on that phone.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
The phone, I didn't say anything to you on anyone
called me at four o'clock this afternoon.

Speaker 5 (09:10):
You know it. There were cops waiting for me out
at the gas station.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
You know that too.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Oh oh, so that's it is, Mike. I think I
know what's happened. Yeah, I was up at Jim's about
for this afternoon, but it wasn't called you. Jim said
he wanted to borrow money from me, but what he
really wanted to do was borrow my voice.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Look, that was your voice on the phone.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I know it.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
You think it was, Mike, but believe me, it wasn't.
Somebody was imitating it. And there's only one guy around
who was that good and imitated Tom Jenkins.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
I don't know anything about any Tom Jenkins. All I
know is that you phoned me and told me to
go out to that gas station.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Jenkins is on the stage at the City Theater, Mike,
He's the one who talked to you.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
He's all forget about Jackins and everybody else. I know
you made that phone call and sent me to that trap.
Come on, you and I are going for a little ride.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Out in the country. But Mike, I have a date
with my girl. If I'm not at her apartment in
ten or fifteen minutes, she'll have the police out looking
for me. What so, unless you want to be followed
out into the country, let me phone her and tell
her I'll uh be de layed.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
All right, one word about this blackie, and I don't worry.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
I won't tell her anything. I flac. You can stand
right there and listen. I don't think I won't.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
I like, go ahead and pick up the phone and
call your girl and let's get out of here, all
right now, I'll pick up the.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
Phone and slip up your widow. So I saved by
the bell, the Alexander Graham bell.

Speaker 7 (10:40):
Oh this Tom Jenkin become marvels imitator, isn't he Jacky
the best Barry?

Speaker 2 (10:54):
That's why we came to this plater just to him.

Speaker 6 (10:57):
Yes, I know you got that one a little two
weeks and I don't think you'll have much trouble with.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
This one either.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
I know, I don't.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I'll let you know.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
All you guys invade out in front if anyone he'll
run into.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
But call, I want you to tell her I was
up at the theater tonight, not founding around.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
That was Helpy Googa, wasn't it, Selly Temples. I don't
wonder he could imitate my voice. He can do anybody.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
And then there's a fellow who isn't fight as puff,
but it certainly is just as unpleasant when he wants
to be.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
He usually says to his frightened victims.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Don't worry, Oh, I'm not going to hurt you.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
I just wanted un Oh, Blackie, that was wonderful.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
It wasn't married with Peter Laurie and me.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Time you want to apologize for that, it's all right
with me, thank you, thank you very much, and good night.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Oh shut, it's all over well, his accle finish. Yeah,
let's wait till he get the chance to take off
his makeup and then we'll go back on it.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Blackie, Please tell me why we're back to see mister Jenkins.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Well, Mary, it's not because I wanted autograph. I assure you,
Mmm way, he doesn't manswer. Maybe he's not in jadneyman.
Oh black you're up to something.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
I just know it.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
I'm up to something. Alright, Mary, my neck in trouble. Well,
why do they can't Well, I certainly don't know that. Listen, Mary,
Jenkins imitated my voice and got me in trouble with
Mike Burns.

Speaker 7 (12:23):
But you told me that.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
I wish somebody would tell me why Jenkins doesn't answer
my neck. I guess I'm trying to doe.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
It's so nice.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Try it open M's walk in and wait for a friend.
Good enough, you know I owed it, Blessy. Yes, I
see him. Mary, it's Jenkins. Well is he? Uh? Huh?

Speaker 5 (12:46):
He is dead?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Huh Verry.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
Doors clam No, I didn't let ey. I slammed it.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Mike. Nothing is this Mike spoons? Yeah, I might Burns.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
Ready, take a good look at me if you want to,
because as soon as I get through with your boyfriend here,
I'm gonna polish you off for good measure.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
And now back to Boston. Blackie gangster Jim Martin hired
a mimic to imitate Blackie's voice and trick another gangster,
Mike Burns, police killer, into a trap set by Inspector
Faraday and his men, but Mike escaped from the trap and,

(13:41):
believing Blackie double crossed him, He goes to Blackie's to
kill him. Blackie, however, escapes and goes to see the
well known mimic, only to find him dead. Then Blackie
and his friend Mary Wesley are both trapped by Mike.
As we return to our story, Blackie tries for reason
with the killer.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Look, Mike, use your head instead of your gun for
a change. Do you know who this dead man was?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Sure I know who he was. Who Tom Jenkins, headliner
on the show.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
You saw it was billing and good. Now what did
Jenkins do?

Speaker 5 (14:15):
He imitated voices go to the head of the class.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Jenkins could have imitated my voice? Could he?

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Yeah, he could have.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Could have he did. That's why he's dead. So put
your gun away.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Not yet, I won't. This is between Blackie and me.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
You heard what the man said. Mary. I'll be quiet now, Mike,
don't you see it? With Jenkins here, hired by Jim
Martin probably who made that call.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Yeah, it could have been at that Only it was
you who crowned me with that telephone.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
I had to do that. You wouldn't listen to me. Look,
give me time and I can prove it. With Jenkins here,
who called you and sent you into that trap. Give
me some time, will your.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
Mike wait a minute, Sure sounded like you're on the phone.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Blackie, Sure it did. Jenkins was good, Mike, the best
impersonator in the business.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
Uh huh makes sense. All right, okay, Blackie, I'll give
you a chance to prove what you're saying. But listen,
wherever you go, I'm going to see and wherever you go,
you're gonna go in my car.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
See fair enough, and get this too, Blackie.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
First place we go is where I want to go?

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Where's that pick up?

Speaker 5 (15:19):
My pal Tony? I think he ought to come along
with us. He'll be insurance against you doing anything I
don't like you. See, Tony likes to use a gun,
and I kind of like to see him use it.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Remember that, Blackie, come in?

Speaker 6 (15:43):
Is that report on the murder of Tom Jenkins?

Speaker 5 (15:45):
Inspector Paraday, Well, it's about time star any dope on
the gun?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah? A thirty two?

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Anything else?

Speaker 6 (15:53):
Two very interesting things, Inspector. The doorman at the theater
describe the guy who came to see Jenkins just before
his body was found. Yea, yeah, there's only one guy that.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
The description fits.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Guess who I don't want to play any games.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Who was it Boston, Blackie, Blankie?

Speaker 5 (16:10):
I might have known he'd be mixed up in this somehow, Okay,
send out an alarm from I want Boston Blackie picked up,
and I don't care, and how many pieces?

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Look, Mike, you'll guarantee Mary will be safe if I
leave it here in your car while I go in
to see Jim Martin. I'll be all right, Blackie.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Don't well, He'll be safe, Blackie, as long as you
play it, save and don't pull anything fancy while you're
in a gym. All right, here's his place full up here.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
I know where he lives.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
All right, Blackie, get going, Okay, Relax Mary, I'm still relaxed.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
I'm limb. I'll be right, Blacky.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
You better be keep a gun on a lady, Tony,
there's a gun out her.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Okay, I'll be back. Do let it was two much SKay? Mary.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
I've got who's beautiful guy?

Speaker 2 (17:12):
He thought it the chief or that you. He's perfectly swelled.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
But I'm here at the top.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
All that. Hello, Jim Ah, how mag he decided to
lend me that ten grand? Not this time. I'm here
because I got a tip that Mike Furns is looking
for him.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Uh, I don't think I have to worry about Mike.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
No, we'll go to the window there and tell me
whose car that is parked just up the street. Uh,
what's got you that red Sedanu there? Do you recognize him? Yeah, Mike,
that's right. And in a minute Mike will be coming
in here to see him before you know what for
to get even with you for a lot of things.

(17:55):
If I know Mike, he'll come in the back way
and through this door back here. You better get your
gun out and be ready for him.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
You have a nice guy, particularly Blacky, but I don't
own a gun. How about lending me yours?

Speaker 2 (18:06):
I'm not fat nicer guy.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Well, maybe I can find one in a drawer over here.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
You better hope you can.

Speaker 5 (18:12):
Yeah, Uh, I got a guy.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
That's a beautiful gal.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
She's perfect.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
I gotta admit, there's going in a half of just
under that.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
There isn't one half of a wit.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
Hugh.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Looks like a gun, doesn't it. Yes, it looks like
the one I want too. Look, it's something like mine.
If you got away Blacky first, I think not, Jim.
I needed to help me get what I want your gun.
In fact, that's the reason I'm here.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Mike Slot on his way up here.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
No, he's winning outside for me. I'm gonna prove something
to him, whatever it is. I don't want any drop
that gun, Jim, drop you. I could ride out of
your hand. Don't ever try to out shoot me.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Powell.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Just leave the gun. Word foul, Jim. You didn't own
'em one. Huh. Well you don't now because I'm taking it.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
To Look, what do you want my gun for?

Speaker 2 (19:03):
I think it's the gun you used to kill Tom
Jenkins so he could never admit he imitated my voice.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
You'll figure out to Jackins anyway.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Try to prove it. Oh, I'm not going to try
to prove it, Jim. I'm going to leave that after
the police. But I think I better make sure that
the cops will know where to find you when they
want you come here before. I've got a present for
you here. Sleep well, Jim, because I'm going to put

(19:34):
some rope around your hands so that later on the
cops can put a rope around your neck. Well, Mary,
I see your two boyfriends are still in the back seat,
and they think you'd be lonely up here.

Speaker 5 (19:54):
They reminded me often enough that I wasn't alone to
start the car Blackie and start to drive slowly back
sea traveling. Huh, Mike, Yeah, well, Blackie, what did you
get out of Jim Martin.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Enough to prove he killed Tom Jenkins? I hope. And
if I can prove Jim kill Jenkins, won't you be
convinced Jenkins was imitating my voice on that phone call?

Speaker 5 (20:15):
Maybe?

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Well, why do we go from here? You tell me, Blackie, Well,
I got Jim Martin's gun. I'm pretty sure it's the

a boulevard too. Don't worry, Mike. I won't say anything
to him except that we're out of game. Hey, what's
the matter with you?

Speaker 5 (20:59):
Don't you know about it?

Speaker 2 (21:02):
I'll get out of the car and talk to the cop.
You might recognize you, Mike, Yeah, you might have. Mary.
You better get out too. We may need a little
coming and charm. All right, but it didn't help any
with those two long All right, Now, what's the matter here?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
What's the matter?

Speaker 2 (21:14):
Come over here to the curb and I'll tell you
all about it. Officer Mary, Maybe you can explain to
the man.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Hey, what's the lady?

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Don't want that gout?

Speaker 5 (21:20):

and I don't he might look.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Blackie left the ignition turned on.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Look with the gascade says.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
What hey, we still got half a tank. Blacky's tallest car. Yeah,
I bet there's something wrong with what Blackie's telling a cop.
We better get out of here and fast to climb
up in the front seat.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Let's get on. I'm clean the front seat.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
Now, come on, hurry, get this buggy going.

it goes to the floor.

Another man in car is Mike Burns. Squatted for murder.
Approach vehicle with caution, use extreme care, Burns killer. Attention,
all cars, attention, all car.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Mike, what do we do now?

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Just drive around like that?

Speaker 5 (22:40):
I'm China, think Tony, Maybe we did wrong, a wrong pace,
kipping away from blacking. Maybe he wasn't crossing this when
he talked to that cop.

Speaker 6 (22:49):
No, why did he say we were out of guess
when he had half a tank?

Speaker 5 (22:52):
He didn't say that, Tony, you dad?

Speaker 3 (22:54):
He Mike took us behind.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
Us police squad car. Yeh, Look we just plotted that

There another swat you.

Speaker 5 (23:01):

the fourth full the way in the cart just behind us.
Blacky sews that cop all right, that dirty double trunne

turn the corner on the speed wing.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Didn't inspect the paraday they had that wall head off.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
Yeah, I know, Stuart, but we don't want to take
any chances.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
We don't need to worry about chances, Inspector. Tony and
Mike took one themselves and looking him, they're both dead.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Too bad, too bad.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Yeah. The end for these guys should have come up
the river, not on a bridge crossing it.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Yeah, I know it, look cools there.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Hello, I beat it, Blanky.

Speaker 5 (24:22):

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Oh, now, Saturday, don't tell me that you saw because
I saw the Tom Jenkins murder for you too.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
You didn't solve anything, Blanky. If Mike Burns killed Jenkins,
he also killed himself trying to get away from me.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Parady, you mean you haven't received the gun I sent you.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Sure, I got it. I sent it to the lab
the minute it was given to me by the cop
you gave it to. It's the gun that kill Jenkins,
all right?

Speaker 3 (24:45):
But where did you get it from?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
The killer? Jim Martin? And I'll tell you where you
can find him, all tied up and waiting for you.

Speaker 3 (24:53):

Speaker 2 (24:54):
