Speaker 1 (00:02):
We'll get even the everyone and welcome the Warren High School.
I'm Shane Holmes alongside Greg Bigham, and you were listening
to some Saturday night basketball action with your Chillicothe boys
basketball team making the long road trip down here. Beautiful
facility and Greg as I welcome you, and I tell
you what this the Warren team. The first thing that
jumps out atch is on the on the great column
(00:24):
of their roster, senior, senior, senior, all the way down.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Pretty experienced group and they were successful last year. I
think they were district champs. Yes, I was taken, went
to the regionals, got an outstanding player point guard and
Julian stateleman. It'll be a tough test for the Cavaliers tonight.
A lot of experience as you said, with this warn
ball club.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, you mentioned the district championship.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Actually they defeated due Lex of the most recent opponent
of the Chilicothee cav Chilicotie's in the middle of a
pretty tough road stretch here to start the year. Played
a really good new Lex team this past week and
played a real competitive game through about three quarters and
then it.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Got away from him.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Here tonight, testing themselves again before they go on the
road up to mary's Ville on Tuesday. So, uh, I guess,
Greg and I my first question for you from a
Chillicothe side is you know what what what did you
see at New Lex.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
That you liked that you felt like Coach Beer could
build off of.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well, I, first of all, I mean our group, it
plays hard. I think, uh uh, hopefully they can get
the ball. You know, I thought they got good shots,
they just didn't shoot it real well. They like to penetrate,
get the ball inside. I'd like I'd like to see
Kat and Cox get the ball in the lane in
the middle. He can get up well, he can shoot
(01:39):
down in there, use his height and use his jumping
ability to shoot and get some scoring and not depend totally,
you know, on the threes. I think Cooper stone King
will come back tonight. He got started to get into
a little bit of a.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Rhythm the other night.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
But if Cooper can shoot the ball well outside, uh,
and we can not allow them to penetrate, keep Stateleman
from driving to the fucking I think they had a chance.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Well, just like Chilacafee a one in one, this very
talented Warren group also comes in at one in one day,
defeated Galli Academy and their opener before dropping one last
night to Marietta. And I say, last night, I think
it's a key point Greg that this is a back
to back for Warren where Chillicothee was off last night,
and during that night off, I know, I was on
the scoreboard show, had a chance to talk to Coach
(02:23):
Beard and I shared with him the word rhythm that
you and I kept coming back to in the new
Lexiton game. And he agreed a little bit, and he
just wanted to see his guys get a little bit
more movement, a little bit more bald movement. He thought
it was a little bit of a deer in the
Headlight Show to speak. And that's a little bit what
you're talking about. Since we come in tonight, you just
feel like, right from the start you mentioned the effort,
(02:45):
but on the offensive end, it's not the word effort
we're talking about as much as rhythm.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Explain that to the fans, well, well, it is what
it is, you know, effort.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
There can be effort, But if you kind of you
look out of Kildert a little bit, you're maybe that
the drible penetration and there's two three guys standing watching you.
It's not Chris, you know when you got to drible
penetration you're moving. Should be maybe a guy breaking to
the bucket, another guy go to the corner for the three,
and it'll.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Be on time.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Maybe just a step behind getting the ball out, maybe
a step behind getting set they did. It's a little
more of a timing thing, but it comes down to
rhythm and everything kind of running smoothly. Where cuts check,
cuts your fix, you're shot off there. Those kind of
things are just a little more on time, if that
makes any sense.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Well, no question.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
We're coming up on about five minutes left here in pregame,
Greg and I will step away for a quick time
out and we'll be right back to give you some
starting lineups and get closer to tip time. You're listening
to Chilicothee Boys Basketball in WBX fourteen ninety.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Welcome back, Shane Colms, Greg Big.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
I'm here at Warren High School.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
You're listening toil Cofee Boys basketball and wbxcent coming up
just under three minutes. Here in the pregame gets you
set for your starting lineups here this evening.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
First for your Chilicothee Cavaliers.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Coach brit will run him out with Jan Miller, his
point guard does a great job. Gonna run the show
for him here tonight, joining the backcourt by Caden Cox
and Cooper stone King, and then Cam Badger and Daniel
Sisslem will round out the starting five for the Calves again,
that's Miller, Cox, Stone, King, Badger and Sissle Over on
(06:28):
the home side for Warren again, seniors across the border.
As we talked about, every single starter will be a senior.
The very talented Julian settlement that Greg was talking about
there in the opening, very talented young man, go go
chase the artists Nick Cressey, Tyson Cochran and Connor Barry.
(06:52):
Excuse me, no, they made a change there with without Cochran,
that's gonna be Jacob Seally. Jacob Seally so again to
set that starting lineup for you, Stadleman.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Lapartist, Cressy Sealy and Barry So.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Greg comment, here is the as the team start to
make their way toward the bench. Coaches always talk about
that first three minutes of the game. Obviously coming on
the road playing an opponent at this.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Level, what are a couple keys that that.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
The fans should be listening to in our call and
in the first couple of possessions on both ends for
the Chilicomon category of.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Time only if you're on the road. This team's not
used to losing. They lost last night. I would guess
maybe a little tired, but they gotta be. The'll be
amped up to go. And I think you just you know,
get a good shot, you may not make it. You
may not start off very hot, get a good shot,
don't get beaten transition early, turn the ball over, give
(07:45):
up a couple easy layups, and see them go on
an eight oh ten o run, that kind of thing.
So that's why you don't want to see here in
the early going, uh, certainly to fall behind very quickly
like that. You know, you may not hit your shots,
but sometimes you know, if you take those quick shots,
long threes, or you turn it over, those turn into
easy transition buckets. I think that's what we got to
(08:05):
stay away from yearly going.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
No question, and again early in the year, you're playing
a level of opponent like this, you're going to get
a lot out of it one way.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Or the other.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
So we're going to step away one more time here
as that come up on the national anthem and some
of the pregame, and we'll be back here in a
few minutes and it'll be tip time. Here at Warren
High School, you're listening to chilicoffee boys basketball in WBAS.

Welcome back Warren High School.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Shane Holmes and Greg Bigham just finished up the national
anthem and both teams are being introduced.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
As I said before the break.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
There Jan Miller, Caden Cox, Cooper Stone, King, Cam Badger
and Daniel Sisshem. Is how Coach beardll running out for
the Chilicothee Cavaliers before the Warren Warriors, Julian Stateleman Chase,
the artists Nick Cressey, Jacob Seely and Connor Bray.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
And again we talked about.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
All seniors across the board, very experienced group and you know, Greg,
the one thing I kind of noticed once we were
standing for the national anthem there that kind of filled
up in a hurry in here. Pretty good atmosphere here
again a program that they loved their basketball down here.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
It really is kind of a nice setup in here.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
This the new gym and uh yeah, thing I was
trying to remember back last year Cors Warren that was
actually all coffy late in the year and they handed
the Caps pretty easily. But I'm pretty sure there was
They had a big man to go along with Stateleman
that I think it was all conference, all district, about
six y five, and uh, I think he graduated. They
have a little hype, but their starters are not that big,
(12:25):
So I think what we'll see, I'm guessing the way
their dv's played, they're almost the guard oriented team.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
I think they're gonna pressure, they're gonna trap, they're gonna chase.
They're gonna put a lot.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Of pressure and you back and say how do we begin.
They're gonna try to speed you up, and it's easier
said than done. But hopefully the Cavs won't get sped up.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Well, think that's a fair pulley. You look down on
the on the roster here they go six foot six foot,
six foot, six foot and six three. Now they will
have a Wells that comes off the bench Hayden Wells
a six y five. Then again another senior and so
so you're right. It's not the tallest group, but both
the freshman and JV is extremely athletic. Did extend the
(13:07):
floor a little bit and apply a lot of pressure,
so certainly something early on. Chilicothe wants to make sure
to weather the storm and have people in the right
spots and their press breakers and so forth. Well where
Aby ready to get going here, Fish will check with
both benches one last time.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Layers.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
I think the other night, I think the calves at
sixteen or seventeen turnovers, so we shall see quicker reminder,
we're not starting.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
To lait o'clock. You're listening to fourteen ninety am WBX.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Well its Cox and will part us to jump circle
and in Chilicothee wins the tip and one miller will
bring across timeline to get us started high entry into Cox.
He'll play two man game with Sison. Cox gets strong
to the left hand. Now baseline kick to the corner.
Chilicothy will move it around the printer. Now it's stone king.
He'll go right corner the badger back out one Miller
(13:58):
will try a three, and he got it started for
the Cavaliers.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
As one Miller good ball movement knocks down to three.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
He loves good ball movement born Induscrimmagerry. First possession for
them on the night. They'll they'll come with some good
player moving some good motion. It's Battery going over on
the right side. They want to come down low to Lapart.
This pretty good job by the Chilicothe defense. Now it's
stayed onman out top. He's guarded by Miller. A little
(14:24):
ball screen there now down low. Good help from Sism.
Little turnaround jumper that's Nick Cressey makes good on the
little turnaround jumper.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Nice touch.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
Three to two chiliicathe here we're just about a minute in.
One Miller across the timeline tries to play hand it
off to Cox.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Does so.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Now Cox out top the stone King coach. Beard calls
out a signal from the sidelines. It's over on the
right and wing. It's Cox. Sism comes up to set
the ball screen, but it will go back out top
stone King instead. Stone King tries to play one on one,
good penetration back to Badger. Badger dumps it off the SYSM.
Now stone King streaking down the middle. Good help from
(15:07):
the war and defense. Cox comes out with a loose ball,
and now it's going to be badger in the corner.
No good lapartists have worn. With the rebound, push it
up the stateman. He attacks off the right ribbel one
Miller with a good job cutting him off. Ball bounces
around the rim and comes off SYSM of chilkaffee with
the rebound. Pretty good tempo here early on, Miller pushing
(15:30):
it back in right down the middle. They never stopped
the ball, but a good help defense that was Sealy
on the block shot. And now he throws it away
as stone King comes back, and there's say going to
say on the sideline, back and forth we go, great
good tempo early.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
On, you know, and even though the temple is up,
both teams have taken good shots, agreed.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
So with all of that, the stone King stepping on
the sideline, it's going to be warn ball on the
side out of bound. Sealy'll be the trigger man and
he'll toss it way in the back court to Stateleman
getting good match up here. One Miller does a good
job on ball defensively enters at high post, it's cressy.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Now.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Lapartist comes up top off a screen. Good little screen
to screen. Our action is gonna get Seay free for
a three ball, but his SHOT's too long. Rebound badger
out comes Cox of Chilicothee looking a puss. He penetrates
down the middle to the right hand and draws the contact.
That's Cox going to his weekend here. Nice job getting
all the way to the rim. Can't convert, but draws
(16:33):
the files.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
So Caden Cox will go to the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Wheet a pair chili coife three, one two, five point
thirty to go in the first quarter. As Cox's first
free throw attempt comes up short, Cox will get another
sophomore lefty, very talented young man, second free throw, that
(17:03):
one's too too long, unable to convert on the free
throws still lead three to two. Back comes warn the
other way seely, and there's a high post Lapartist. He'll
look to go one on one against Hissm. Sysm walls
up pretty well, but Laparda scores anyway. Good strong moves
from the sixth three senior Chase lapartis.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
Actually Sysm had good defense and the partist somehow kind
of got that to go in.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Yeah, good strong moods Miller comes back. He'll enter it
into the high post to to badger. Good strong catch there.
Now he'll go back over the left side. Now it's
download of SISM. He'll look to make a good one
on one move, spins back through the help shot up.
He makes the shot and draws the foul. But I
have a chance for an old fashioned three mike.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
It is good.
Speaker 11 (17:51):
Youready imber double.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Zero, nice mooth my sysm almost one of those where
I Daniel. I thought he was going to get himself
in trouble getting double team, but he's so strong he's
able to go right.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
To it, extremely strong through the double team.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
He makes good on the free throw three for SISM
six four Chili Coothie. Here in the early league, we're
about four forty five remaining in the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Statelement across the timeline comes left side.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
It's Barry now outside Sealy gonna go back down all
the parties.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Saysm playing behind.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
But good help digging from the Chilicothee defense, and again
great effort. They're going to say they got a little
too aggressive. Got somebody on the slap when they were
digging down to hell.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Daniels going after the ball kind of fell over top
of the Lusartis who was partially on the floor, went
over top of it, and they called the fountain.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Box set and the ob under the little screen to
screener action for Warren. Chilicothie defends it well and they
got to go all the way out top the Stateleman
now knocked away on the good dribble, help from Badger
and outcomes Badger with a loose ball, pitches it to the
stone King.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Now he'll look to drive to the middle.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Good penetration and good patience as he brings it back out.
Chilicothe you have a nice effort on the defensive end,
good patients on the offensive end so far.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Van Miller with a jumper in the corner. No good.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Cox gets it back and he scores Katie Cox into
the scoring column. He has two eighth of four. Chilicothee leads,
we're halfway through the first quarter. Back comes Stateleman behind
the back dribble again. Great help from Chillicothee and the
balls knocked loose. Sysm went to the ground unable to
keep possession. So Warren will have it back as Badger
(19:33):
knocks it out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Again a very very act of chilicothe group here in
the early one.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
The coaches are young, but the Cavs very very aware
of where statement is. They are quick to get the
statleum on and not let him get open. Celia in
bound it right here in front of the Chillicothee bench.
Stateleman goes baseline.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
And I had the off arm extended a little bit,
but it's going to go against Miller on the block.
So it's going to give baseline out of bounds to Warren.
Past years it might have been a charge.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
I think officials very aware of the taking chargers or
hitting the deck early on nice block, got it inside
right off the ob to Lapardis.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
The first time block shot for Sism that time on
the second opportunity looks like it's going to be a foul,
and if that's on Sism, that's going to be a second.
So again Daniel Sissm giving him great minutes here in
the first four and a half minutes. The second foul
is going to force coach Beard to the bench. Looks
like it's going to be Hammon entering the game here.
First free throw up for Lapardis is good mentioned.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Lapartists six ' three.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
He's a lefty, good looking kid, good looking athlete here,
nice touch on the shot.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
The second shot comes up short, stone.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
King runs down the rebound eighty five chilikaifee three point
thirty nine. First quarter. Stone King brings it up for
the Cavaliers by draft set of ball screen. Cooper uses
it here, now goes high post Cox, Cox goes to
the left hand and through a lot of contact going
to be called for the travel.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
I like that offense because you got Cox in the
middle who can score in lane. And then it also
Hammon in the game. You got him posted in the corner.
And want to the way it sets up. If they
can spread the floor like that, I think it helps
Cash stay. I'm going to cross the half cordal throw
it over right side. Seely now it's Bury up top.
He's guarded by Cox right side. Sealy wants to throw
(21:36):
it inside. Pretty good job there from stone King to
Deny Celily'll go ahead and let a three fly. And
again Lapartist has become a problem here on the offensive
glass and his foot back opportunity going to be a
foul on Badger and and uh look, Lapartist has been
real active early sism was a pretty good matchup and
now in foul trouble, it's going to be someone they
got to keep off the offensive glass. Well, you can,
(22:00):
you can match the lapardest pipewise with the calves that
are in the lineup, but system takes away that football
strength upper body strength, so that makes a difference. He
make that pre throw. Yes, first free throw is good.
He'll get another.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Looks like Carty Ligan will enter the game and that'll
be for cam Badger. The part of second free throw attempt,
that's good. Chili Coothie still leads it eight to seven
here in the early going. We have three minutes to
play in the first quarter Chilicothie and they're away blue
(22:36):
tonight with warning the home white. Craig and I right
down on the on the floor level here, nice seat
is Chilicoti's working our left to right and Jan Miller
just takes it on himself right into the middle, knocks
down the mid range jumper. Miller with five. Chilicotie leads
at ten to seven. Great help from Chili Cooffee balls
(22:56):
knocked away outcomes stone King, great bounce past the and
he lays it in nicely done defense creating the offense
Cooper stone King nice bounce past Kayden Cox lays it in.
Twelve seven Chilikothy, that comes Warren. It's right side sealy
for three no good and that ball is going to
go up over the top. You mentioned Greg the ability
(23:21):
to convert the other night a couple of times. Wasn't
there that time Chillicoffie able to use the defense to
get an easy one on the other.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
End, great pass and Cox laid it in, but he
was in traffic in a nice job. Heah the Cavaliers
one of Jenson. There are four or five from the
field from the two point range and he's only missed
one two point shot. Twelve seven Chili Cooffee two minutes
to play. Stone King up.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Top drives but just cut off, goes left side cart
Te Ligan. Ligan will drive hard to the middle, behind
the back, dribble to steady up out to Miller and
again they continue to use great patients. Miller gets into
the middle one more time, drawls about three white jerseys
back out.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
The stone King.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Stone King uses the job step now he'll shoot the
deep three good hustle from Ligan on the offensive glass
to keep it alive.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Hammon comes out with it shot no good.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Great effort from Ligan, little coffee forced and transition defense
to get back, and they do warn up top to Berry,
denied by Cox.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
It's out top.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
That's Chris just entered the game for Warren. Now it's Cressy.
Cressy goes right side.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
It's Barry.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Barry goes to dry middle and Cox knocks it away
from behind and he's gonna sprint out. He runs it
down and he lays it in and the foul nicely done.
Cox had knocked it away from behind and they were
able to throw it out to him. Made a great catch,
he gathers, absorbs the contact.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
He's gonna have a chance for a three point.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Blood that's six unanswered for the Caves. The chance for
seven here.
Speaker 3 (24:57):
Hayden can hit the free drive water.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
So Cox will go to the line, try the old
fashioned way for three and he makes good. So Kayden
Cox really involved here in the early going. Good good
sign for the Cavaliers. Thought he didn't get enough shot
attempts in my opinion. The other night at New Lex
and there he goes Miller again, knocking away the defense
for Chilicothie really doing a job. Stone King goes up
(25:24):
left side Cox, he tries a three. No good, out
comes Wells with the rebound for Warren. Now it's Chris
at the point guard position, guarded by Miller. Chris will
get him into the spots he wants him. Now Van Miller,
coming up on a five count, just gets to the
way to Barry. Barry drives a baseline cut off by Cox.
(25:48):
Now Lapartis hands it back off Berry for three.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
No good. Wells up on the offensive glass and he
puts it back in good. Cayden Wells is.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
A six ' five senior, gets an offensive footback there
cuts to Chillicothe lead to fifteen to nine.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
Von Miller brings them.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Up seventeen sixteen and counting in terms of seconds remaining
here in the first quarter. Now Hammond off of the
flair or they excuse me the pop, but he goes
left side stone King from three. Chilicoti shoots it a
little quick, and Warren's going to have a chance here
before the buzzer. Three seconds to go down in the corner.
No good fight for the rebound, and that'll bring us
to the end of the first quarter. We played one
(26:27):
in Warren High School, Chilicoffee with great effort here in
the first quarter they lead at fifteen to nine. You're
listening to the Chilicoffee Boys basketball in WBX.

just as unique. How her funeral home helping families remember,
share and heal.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Welcome back Warren High School, Shane Colmes and Greg Bigham.
You're listening to Chilicothee Boys basketball and WVX and Greg
superstar for Chilicothee. Great energy there in the first quarter
they lead at fifteen to nine.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, they were six of thirteen from the field total,
they were only one out of six of the three
point line. We've got a foul called on the other
signed a Warren three of ten only shut thirty percent.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
They were over.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Four from the three point line. Uh three or four
from the foul line for Warren. Chilicothe two of four,
fifty percent from the free throw Life and the big news.
I don't want to jink some I almost won't tell
you this. Tabs with zer returnovers and Warren had five.
That was something I wouldn't have expected.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
After that common foul off the dribble o b under
for Warren, and again Chase Lapartis picks up right where
he left off in that first quarter. He scores cuts,
the lead to fifteen eleven by it comes chilicothe Stone
team up top, picks the dribble up and now he
hits Cox Cox down the middle of the left hand
dumps it off the carta Legan. He goes up strong
(28:45):
and he draws the contact, going to be a foul
on Hayden Wells Carte.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Legan will go to the free throw line shoot two.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Cox was at the rim, opportunity to score good unselfish
play and Legal will go to the line. Try to
add to this fifteen to eleven Chili cooffee advantage.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
You know, Warren was three of six and a two
point range in the first quarter, but they were zero
for four from the three point line, so the same
way with the Cavs shot well, but they were only
one out of six and need a team shot to
three real well in the first.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Quarter, Legan's first free throw attempt no good. The freshman
will get another this one also no good. Stateleman of
warn with the rebound out come, the Warriors pushes it
ahead to Anthony. Now back out to stay at the
State Onman now guarded by Cox Miller.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Round of the lineup. So Cox Shawls is the big guy.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Little step back opportunity. Again, Cox's length does a good
job of contesting. Now it's Bury up top Statelem will
run around for the handoff to get it back.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
He'll try an elbow jumper over Cox.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
No good, and Chili Coffee continues to not be able
to get Lapartis off the offensive glass. His shot no
good and as he comes down to contact he falls down.
He's gonna be called for travel. But again, Chase Lapartis
has been a problem for Chill CoFe and they've got
to figure out a way to get him off the
offensive glass.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
That time they were able to dodge a serious bullet.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
And his strength and again says them with the two fouls,
as we said, it's not a matter of height, that's
a physical part of the fartist. Able to just bunk
his way and get inside position grab the offensive rebound.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Yeah, absolutely, and just great effort as well, Chili Coffee.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Here in the scrimmagery, stone King up top hamming. He
goes right side Cox back up top stone King. Stone
King will attack to the right hand dribble. It gets
all the way to the rim and he lays it in.
Nicely done, Cooper. Stone King his first basket of the night,
chilicoffee lead back to seventeen eleven, Statelement all the way
(30:42):
down to the baseline cut off by Cox back out top.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
It's Anthony.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Now Statelement over shot fake Cox went forward, he drives
too strong.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Again, Wells on the glass and he lays it in.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
So again Hayden Wells at six ' five chase verse
sixty three. But again, as Greg said, also the physicality
the offensive putback really been a problem for Chili Coffee
leads cut to seventeen thirteen Chilicoffee threw a little bit
of warn pressure. Now stone King has it wanted gwigging
down low, knocked away, Warriors create the turnover and back
(31:18):
they come. I had that as the first Chillicothe turnover.
Stetleman with the baseline drive. As he looked to dumping inside,
it looked like we had a Chili Coffee.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Player kick the basketball.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
So seventeen thirteen, five forty eight second quarter, Warren's going
to have a baseline out of bounds opportunity.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
If he'd have told me, we would have played almost
eleven minutes of basketball. State of One hasn't scored. I
wouldn't have believed you.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Good defense from ChIL Coffee here and him and bodies
up and they're kind of letting the contact, letting them
play shot. No good, great job by Chili Coffee. Give
give Andrew Hammon a lot of credit there. He walled
up play through what could have been some offensive bowel
contact and then after the misshot he was a big
part of Chiliocoffee and then.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Or to draw that foul.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
So seventeen thirteen Chili Coothie advantage Chila Coffee. He'll take
the basketball back. Warren's gonna spread out and look a
one two to two full court look three quarter Look,
I guess it is skips it clear across Stone King
will take a deep three. No good rebound, wells of Warren.
Back comes the Warriors coming quick. Great pass from Barry
(32:28):
out in front as Colin Anthony lays it in, cuts
it to seventeen fifteen Chili Coffee. Coach Beard's going to
take a time out. It's a short one. We'll stay
right here. And you know, just like that, Greg I
thought a little bit with the with the pressure they
put out a little three quarter court, just maybe speeding
Chili Cooffee up, maybe not showing the same patients and
(32:51):
then Warren using that opportunity to get little transition of
their own.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
And you know Cooper a he may he can hit
seven in a row from the free foot, like yeah,
a good open look. But as we tell you that
miss three was a long rebound and it was a
transition bucket. The Cavs are playing well. They're shooting well
from the field. They only have one turnover they hour, however,
only one out of seven from the three point line.
So having shot to three, ver well and you picked
(33:16):
up the big key the offensive boards for Warren has.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Gotten him back in the game. Seventeen fifteen Chili Cooffee.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Warren will stay in the three quarter court pressure Stone
King reversus the Hammonds.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Now he'll go back to stone King. He'll go clear.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Across diagonal to Cox. Cox will put the drive cut
off there. Now splits the double team. Nice little ball
handling move, gets to the middle one and scores Cayden
Cox showing off a little bit of his full arsenal
there on the offensive end.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
Big bucket for Chili cooffee at.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Ten twelve short range jumper is what he can do
well because he can get up so high. Now on
the other end, as Grag said, with Miller out, he's
also drawing the assignment of statelemen down Lola Partis goes
to that left hand baby hook, no good again, give
hamm and a lot of credit.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
He comes out with the defensive rebound and on the
outlet the bageries filed Yah.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Great.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
That's about three times now I've highlighted Andrew Hammond defensively
really playing strong.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
The farest back to Don he kind of really went
into Andrew, knocked Andrew back about three feet, but Andrew
came right back after the shot and got the rebound.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Andrews used to getting hit like that from football.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Certainly letting them play down the post tonight, that's physical, definitely.
Stone King will bring it up for chill coffee. He'll
look to tack off the dribble, kicks it over to
the right side. It's ligging now it's Cox. He'll drive middle,
dumps it underneath the ham and great pass from Cox,
No Goodligan and ham and stay with it. Haim And
grabs it and lays it in Andrew Hammond's first bucket
(34:48):
of the night twenty one to fifteen. Jeli Coffee leads
four minutes until halftime. Very out top hands it off
to Anthony and now he weaves a little bit with Stateleman.
He gets all the way in the middle of scores
the very talent. The guard had been shut out to
this point. Julian Stateleman onto the scoreboard himself. Now cuts
to Chilicothe lead to twenty one to seventeen. Stone King
(35:10):
drives left hand, goes cornered to Hammond where he's trapped,
gets it underneath car Tay laden with an athletic move ball,
goes everything but Paul and comes off the rim.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
But as Cox was going.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
For the rebound, I think we had Seeley Baby undercut
him a little bit.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
There going to be a war and foul.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
I believe that's a fourteenth foul, so I'm not in
a shooting situation. To the next one, Cow's will go
to the line careful.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Obi underneath Lapartist had knocked it away when he tried
to save it. It hit the back of the backboard,
which is out of bounds obviously, and back to Chili Coffee.
To Chili Coaffee will have another Obi under opportunity, they
get it into him and back out the stone King he'll.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Drive Hard to the right hand.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Now he'll try a little elbow jumper. No good rebound Lapartis,
I think they got Hammon coming in on the offensive
rebound opportunity hits him in the back. It's his first
team second here in the second quarter for three point
thirty three left in the first high Chilicothy leads at
twenty one to seventeen. Stetoman brings up the right side
(36:24):
for warn He's guarded by stone King.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Now he gets down to the middle.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Good help from Carte Liggan, but as a result when
Ligan had to help his man, Lapartis rebounds and puts
it in.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Twenty one nineteen Chilicothe and leads by two. Another offensive
rebound jan.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
Now it's ligging driving Hard gets trapped there, dumps it
back out the Cox. Cox goes in the stone King.
He's posting up the smaller defender. Anthony draws the double team,
kicks it out diagonal to Hammon for three.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
No good, great rebound from Badger and he lays it in.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
That's a big time rebound by cam His put back
his first bucket of the night. Chilicothe leads at twenty
three nineteen left side Stateleman in the corner to Berry shot.
Fate comes in mid range and knocks it down and
connor Berry again. He had been shut out. He'd had
twenty two in their opener last week. That's his first
(37:18):
basket of the night.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Chilicotie leads twenty three to twenty one.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Cox out top plays a little one on one, gets
into the middle, good patience, back out left wing stone King.
He'll try a deep three again. No good again, you
give Andrew Hammond a lot of credit. He runs it down.
Now Hammon will try a three, and why not Andrew
Hammond knocks it down. Andrew Hammond working on a really
impressive first half. Here Gray second three of the night
(37:45):
for the Cavs. Stateleman had deep penetration in Chilicotie had
good health defense getting that young man. His talent is
off the dribble one a good job. He hasn't had
a lot of clean looks at all. Cochran enters the
lineup for Warren for the first time and Cressey returns
(38:09):
the lineup off the out of bounds. They run a
nice little sat connor Berry just way too good a
shoot her to let him come off the screen. That
un you know unguarded and as the triple cuts it
to two point advantage of Chilicothee twenty six, twenty four.
Back comes chilicothe It's going to be badger with a
mid range jumper. No good state of one's going to
(38:31):
look to push for Warren.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
Right side Berry.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Stateleman runs into the handoff and gets it back. Now
he's in the middle of the paint. Back out to
the parties and again he'll continue to chase and come
back and get that hand off and try to get
downhill and again Julian Stateleman makes good on a little
floater and we are tied at twenty six all with
one seventeen remaining in the first high Warren's made their
(38:57):
last four shots in a row and flitting in their
first three of them, so got him back in it.
Cox drives hard to the middle, playing through all kinds
of contact and scores anyway. Nicely done by Caden Cox
to to play through the contact. Puts Chili cooffee back
out in front. Twenty eight twenty six and we are
under one minute here in the first half. Stayed I
(39:17):
went off a ball string from lapartis Cox and Ligan, Well,
we'll boll still we'll stay on the ball, string and trap,
and it looks like the officials are going to look
across the floor at each other and say that it
was last off a blue jersey. Noah Netter enters the
game for Chilicothe to get Badger a break. Good to
(39:38):
see Noah healthy. I know he fought through some preseason injury.
There's one one got out, two fouls two I believe yeah,
because he was little high low game. I think they're
gonna get Netter from behind and coach Beard the bottle
was big four, but I don't know that he was
in love with the call.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
Just a team four.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
So with thirty nine seconds to go, twenty eight to
twenty six Chila Coffee, Warren with an obi under this
would be a really big stop for Chili Coffee and
have an opportunity to take a lead to the hat
bounce past inside lapartists guarded by Netdter. Nedder puts up
a big, straight up defender, A nice job again, fight
for the rebound.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Outcomes Warren Stateleman.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
In the corner and he hits a three ball Julian
Stateleman for three, gonna give Warn the lead at twenty
nine to twenty eight, twenty two seconds to go.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Stone King across the timeline, gives it the Cox.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Cox will attack the middle again, playing through all kinds
of contacts, and this time he does get the call
and he lays it in and the foul. Nice job,
Kayden Cox. That's two straight times. Greg, He's played through
a lot of contact.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
If he just gets even with the defender, he's got
that length in the good left hand. He very very effective.
He's playing well, having a good first.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Half and watching this young man.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
I know it's just a matter of time we're gonna
watch a breakout game and we might be watching it
right here in front of us. This this young man's
extremely talented free throw is good. Chilicoffee back up thirty
one nineteen. We're under ten seconds, Stateleman against stone Kings, Stateleman.
Little step back. Now's gonna throw it down. It's Cressy
and he scores. Hick Cresty comes off a baseline stream.
(41:21):
Stateleman hits him and he scores. In a very entertaining
first half comes to an end. We are tied at
thirty one. All Shane Combs, Greg Biggham.

Welcome back halftime here at Warren High School, Shane Colmbs,
Greg Bigham, you're listening to Chili Coffee Boys Basketball fourteen
ninety on the AMSIWBX ninety two point seven FM, or
obviously anywhere with the iHeart a great opportunity to find
Chili Cooffee Boys Basketball year long, and Greg, I guess
we come here to the first half and exactly what
(44:36):
we talked about in the pre game we wanted to see.
I think for the most part we have seen Warren
obviously a very talent opponent. Chill Cooffee been up to
the challenge. They've played tough, they've protected the ball, and
as a result, they've gone toe to toe with one
of the better teams in all of Division three here
in the new seven division format, and they're tied at
thirty one.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
All you're your first reaction to the first half.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
Well, I thought I'll have a aps for one turnover,
and I could have missed one because the actually got
kind of fast and furious. That's outstanding against us pressure
from Warren. That's one of the highlights. I think both
teams shot it pretty well. The calves, well, let's go
ahead and look at that halftime. I got the Cavs
twelve of twenty seven, a little over forty four percent,
(45:18):
two of ten for the three point line. Warren is
two of six of the three point line, so each
team I had down with two three pointers. Warren did
come back to hit ten out of seventeen in the
second quarter. They shot much better, shot only thirty percent
the first quarter, much better the second quarter, and they
wind up forty eight percent thirteen of twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (45:37):
They are two of six of the three as we
said from.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
The final line, I have the Calves three out of
seven and Warren three out of four, and again I think,
I think what happened there in the second quarter, the
Calves were up four, up five, you know, and maintaining
that lead, doing a good job.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Only the one turnover. Warren got back in the game.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
On the offense boards, they were able to get a
little partis down inside. I'm trying to back up my memory.
I can remember at least three times they put an
offensive rebound back Cayden Wells and Chase the Artist, and
that got them back in and then they got within
two or three. And then late in the game, I
thought Stateleman got going. He hit the three in the corner,
he got down the lane, the caves one of the
(46:20):
things hurt the Calves. Von Miller was doing a great
job on Stateleman. He picked up the two thousand and
wound up with stone King guarding him, and I thought
that made a difference. Stateman got gone a little bit
and that enabled him to get back and tied at
thirty one. That the offensive boards got him back close
from being down, got him going, and I think that's
why they shot ten out of seventeen in the second
(46:42):
quarter because three offensive rebounds a stateman layup. They probably
had at least four layups out of their ten buckets
in that second quarter.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
I makes a difference ball you look at the flow
of the game.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
Here Chillicothe jumps out to a fifteen to nine advantage
at the end of the first quarter, then out here
at the half tight at thirty one. All checking look
at some scoring in the first half. One Miller with
five had all of those there in the first quarters.
He fought through some foul trouble. Cayden Cox was just
big time.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
He had seven in each quarter for a total of fourteen,
several times playing through some contact. He had a couple
in ones, but it could have had two or three more.
Really really nice job of playing through that and scoring again.
Fourteen for Cox that leads all scores. Thought Andrew Hammond
played a really good first half defensively and effort wise.
(47:32):
He has five, Cooper stone King with two, Cam Badger
with two, Daniel Sissam with three. Again he battled some
foul trouble as well. And I thought Carte Ligan had
come in and had give him some good minutes in
terms of some hustle categories. Over on the war in side,
you mentioned Julian Stateleman scoredless in the first quarter and
then had all seven there in the second quarter and
(47:53):
did so as Chilicothie was forced to get a little
deep into their matchups, probably than the original scouting report said.
Hayden Well comes off the bench, gets two offensive rebounds.
As Greg mentioned, he has four, puts them both back.
Anthony had two. Chase Lapartis we highlighted his effort and
his activity on the offensive glass.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
He has nine total points at Leeds of the Warriors.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
Nick Cressey with four, he's the one that scored there,
laid in the half to tie us at thirty one.
And then Connor Barry, the outstanding shooting guard for the Warriors,
he has five and again all of those came in
the first first or excuse me, holding the second quarter
after being shut out in the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (48:31):
So the themes kind of what we talked about.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
First quarter, Silicati in their matchups doing a real good job,
causing a lot of problems. Second quarter, a little bit
of foul trouble, but it looked like coach Beard was
able to protect a lot of them with two files.
So as you come back in the third quarter, if
you're coach Beard, you should feel pretty good about your
file situation correct going into the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
Start, yeah, says them two fouls out early and then
knell are out with the two fouls. They missed Siss
and what we did. We talked about the fact that
of statelement, well that's because Wan Miller had to go
out to two fouls.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
We talked about their offensive rebounds.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
A big part of that. Sism was out of the
game and there was a size. Not again, I'm beating
a dead horse. It's not high twise McDaniel so strong
lupartis is able just to pull his way inside and
push to get the rebounds.
Speaker 3 (49:19):
He couldn't do that against Sism. So I thought coach
Biart did a great job.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
As you said, he protected Sism and Miller, but we
missed them, mainly missed both of them on the defensive side.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
No question about it.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
We're coming up on two minutes to go here before
the second half, Shane Colmbs and Greg Bigham, we'll step
away for a little bit of a time out and
then we'll come back and bring a third quarter action.

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Welcome back Warre in high school.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Ready for the second half action Chilikaffee and Warren TI
to thirty one. Very entertaining first half. Two really good
basketball teams here and Greg, you and I had a
quick chance. Just as Coach Beard made his way over
the scores table here, he was just kind of asking
us about second chance points.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
You can tell that that was certainly a focus in
their locker.
Speaker 1 (52:05):
And now, in fairness to Chilicothie's effort on the glass,
sometimes in the second quarter they stop keeping the ball
in front as much. When you mentioned one Miller getting
in foul trouble. But then what happens is you got
to come and help, and sometimes you're out of position
to rebound.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
So that'll be something to watch.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
All right, here we go, Chilicothi's gonna have possession to
start the second half. Miller will have it in the
back court and he'll work one on one, agains statum
and across timeline.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
Up top. The scism saysm with some nifty ball handling
behind the back.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
Now goes right corner Miller, hard denial, a badger Miller
trying to get rid of it. Gets it under the
sism double team comes from Cressey and he's gonna on
the loose ball, gonna throw it off with a Chillicothee player.
It's gonna have a turnover going the other one.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Oh again, I only had one turn for the Cavs
and they start out to even that very quickly. There
they got trapped in the corner. Turn it over Starren
more aggressive defensively there on trapping do you think.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
And certainly on on the Cox really taking away his touch.
Just Stateuman out top comes off ball stream from Cressey,
good help from stone King, goes download to lapardis now
on the rotation and then on the rotation manager with
an athletic contests to the shot, blocks the three pointer
and he's gonna come out with a loose ball. He
gets all the way to the rim and is gonna
(53:23):
draw a blocking foul.
Speaker 3 (53:25):
Great guy.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
Was an athletic contest where he went up and at
the high point got a piece of the three point shot.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
You don't see that very often.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
I thought it was Kayden Cox had blocked a shot
because he's six three, But it was Badger and he
was up and not only blocked it, but was able
to get to the fall and go to the other
end with it.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
Yeah, and on that other end draws the foul cam
at the free throw line. Now, first free throw is good.
That's our first point of the second half, which puts
Chilikafie up thirty two thirty one. Were Caps need to
do a better job at the foul line here they
wanted three to seven in the first half.
Speaker 3 (54:00):
Hit free throw, no good. Sealy of worn with the rebound.
Speaker 1 (54:05):
Statum right side Seely over the lopardis up top. It's
Berry over to Ceily.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
Now to get lapardies down into the post against Sism.
Pretty good. Help now Cressy against stone King.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Good shot, fake shot up, no good Sism fighting for
the loose ball. Lapard has had it his put back,
no good outcome Sism. Sism drops the bounce past the badger.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
He attacks to the right side, shot up. No good
Scism on the put back and he trying to hurried
it a little bit. No good. Lapardis with the rebound.
Celia'll push for warn right side. It's Berry guarded by
Cocks out top.
Speaker 1 (54:46):
Seely Seely looks to penetrate middle back out state onment
comes off of a ball screen there from Sealy.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
Now state I'm on a pull up with a free
throw line, and again Lopardis just gets up.
Speaker 1 (54:58):
He gets the offensive rebounds, had some inside position. Lapartist
gets in. Any way, you're going to draw the foul
and I think that's going to be on Citism with
three and that's why I'm going to cut into the
second half. Minute first free throw is good, getting had
(55:31):
got Legging checking into the game for Badger, and that
was hamm and coming in for sism Artist at the
free throw line. The second one is also good. He
makes good on both. Warren takes a thirty three thirty
two advantage.
Speaker 2 (55:54):
All of a sudden, with Badger out and Sism out,
you had an entirely different looking offense right now.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
Hammon has it over on the right side, up top Miller.
Miller looks to go one on one down the middle.
Little spin move gets deep, gets all the way in
good help back out Cartelegging gives out the Cocks. This
Cox is first touch of the second half. They were
really doing a hard job Tony. But he drives spin
move no good. He goes up it gets it back
great after Havin Cox just absolutely relentless here tonight gets
(56:24):
it back in scores thirty four to thirty three. Chilcythe
how nice Cock's out sixteen on the night. Stateleman drives
hard down the middle, gets to the left hand.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
And the shot will not go. Chili Coathee foul Statuman's
gonna go the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
The stone King on the foul. Statelemanu at the free
throw line for warn Chilcathie leads at thirty four to
thirty three. Badger's gonna come check in here at the
scores table in front, I was after this.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
First free throw. It's himp first free throw, no good.
Coach Beard just begging his Chavalier team to box out
here as Badger comes back in for the ligging.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
I think Cam asked to come out, because I've heard
Coach Bier say what's the matter when he came out,
But he asked to come out, but they put him
right back in.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
Stateleman ready for his second free throw attempt.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
He'll need it to even us up, and he hits it,
so we are even at thirty four, all five twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
Third quarter. Von Miller brings it back up the court
for chilok Off.
Speaker 1 (57:42):
He drives hard to the right hand shot his block
by Lepardis out comes Stateleman. He sidesteps though to avoid Bader.
It's set up to take the charge Julian Settlement with
a great stepper through and then he lays it in.
Thirty six thirty four Warren back comes stone King and
he is fouled on the drive.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
That was a super move by Joyan Steedleman on the
other end.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Yeah, somehow he just so quick he is. Look think
he was four feet away from the bucket on the
left lane and one stepulated ending moved it right by
a defender and laid it off off the glass.
Speaker 3 (58:18):
Nice smooth obi under for Chilicoffee.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Stone King will be the trigger man. He'll throw it
all the way out top one. Miller Hawk's trying to
come and get a touch.
Speaker 3 (58:28):
Cres uh.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Yeah, Cressy's really working hard to deny him. Pretty much
a total face guard. Hammon's gonna come open for three
at the top of the key. And Andrew Hammond, who
had five in the first quarter, including the three knocks
down one here, puts ChIL Cooffee back up in front.
Thirty seven thirty six one Miller just takes it away
from Salleman. Now he's gonna drive hard on the drive.
Nice jobs. Let Stateleman fly by, and he lays it in.
(58:52):
One Miller with a steel and a score chilicoffee back
up thirty nine thirty six. Now Ceeial try a deep three,
no good rebound. Cos Cox is gonna push it out
with the left hand. Little stop and go move. Now
he backs it out, retreats a little bit. One Miller
will pull up left elbow shot birds around the rim.
(59:14):
It comes out, great effort from him and and it
looks like we're gonna have I can't have they call
looseball foul. Yeah, I got him in great effort, got
him on the loose ball foul there. So the ball
is going to go back to Warren. Have ball that
(59:35):
the Miller elbow jumper. That thing did everything but go in.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
That's good to get out and told me he could
have taken it into maybe a little further for the shot.
Thirty nine thirty six.
Speaker 1 (59:46):
Statuman just relentless downhill, and I think they're gonna get
Miller on the foul. Stateuman was creating a lot of
the contact downhill. Miller couldn't get off of him. Now
that's gonna be It's gonna be Miller's third foul. And
I think Chila Coffee trying to get to the sub here.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
You know we're up three. Miller gets his third foul.
Remember that point.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Wow, Well, a little slip off the ob under and
the partis is gonna lay it. In thirty nine thirty
eighth Soul of Coffee. We're under four minutes, third quarter,
stone King hard on the drive to the left hand,
little runner, no good. Miller tries to get the offensive rebound,
can't do it, out comes Warren, state of win. He'll
push it looking downhill. He's become really aggressive here in
(01:00:31):
the third quarter. Now they play a little weave action
at Seay over to Barry. Bury will step in, take
a jumper, good box out there from Badger to win
the defensive rebound. Badger will go ahead and push himself.
He goes downhill to the jump stop. Now at stone King,
he'll go baseline, nice little behind it behind the Badger.
I'll will go ahead and give him credit for it.
(01:00:53):
I don't know if he knew he was there at all,
but that was nicely done. Badger lays it in forty
one thirty eight Chilo Coffee, great pass statum and gonna
try a deep three from the left side, no good,
good box outs down low and Hammon comes out with it.
Badger and Hammond both with a good checkout. Chili Coffie
gonna push it Cox over on the left wing. He
(01:01:15):
takes it to the rim through the contact. This is
the shot they're gonna draw a foul. You know, Greg,
I know we talked about it multiple times, but Cayden Cox,
I love the aggressive mindset.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Here the night he's he's taking the ball strong as
the whole that time baseline a little bit tough for
a toffer angle coming straight in the baseline to put
it off the glass. But the everything he did well there.
He avoided the contact. You know, he could have easily
picked up the charge, but he moved his body enough
to draw contact without getting a charge.
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
Just a short time out for Warrens. We might as
well stay here.
Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
And you know at forty one thirty eight, Cox is
gonna go to the line with a chance to push
Chili Coffy's advantaged back up to as much as five.
And you know, in the second half of those odds
us on the Chillicothee side, the big thing they wanted
to clean up was the defensive glass. The last two times,
I felt like the blockouts have been a little bit better.
And then on this on the end down here on
(01:02:12):
the offensive end, obviously, Warren wanted to take touches away
from Caden Cox. They were successful in the first couple
of trips, but now Cox starting to get involved again.
Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
At that time, they did it in transition. They got
to ball to Cayden before the defense could set up.
But yeah, you know, I have a feeling to coach Maddix.
That was their discussion at halftime is we can't let
Kad and Cox take the ball in the hall. They
are really all over Cock, much like in the early
gone the Cavs were all over the point guards. And well,
they've really tried to slamp down on Kaden Cox.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Back out of the time out, Cox WI walked to
the free throw line again, trying to add to Chilli
Cofee's forty one thirty eight advantage.
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
First free throw was good.
Speaker 1 (01:02:54):
Cox again, if you just join us working on a
big night, I believe unofficially at seventeen for the sophomore lefty.
Second free throw good forty three thirty eight ChIL coffee.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
We're under three minutes here. Five price is about as
big as lead as the Cavs have had to night.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
Coach Beard letting Wan Miller play with three and on
the spin move that's got to be offensive, and it
is Cam Badger walls up there and Lapartis, who's just
a really physical player as he d stepped into him,
takes the charge.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Nice job, chilicoffee basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
There's this one two to two that we'd seen earlier
in the first half. Stone King and Miller will play
a little bit back and forth catch. Now across the timeline.
Stone King goes right corner to Badger, back out to Miller.
Miller splits the double team now comes left side to Cox.
Cox against the trap hit stone King, who flashes middle
back out the Cox. Cox will get into the middle,
(01:04:06):
throws a little diagonal the Badger in the right corner
and his three ball is good.
Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Nice job by Cox to set up.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
His teammate Badger, and Badger delivers the three ball and
Chilli Cothie's pushed to lead to forty six thirty eight
Stateleman downhill again and we're gonna have a file and uh,
pretty good help defense there. But I tell you, if
you're a Warn fan, you've kind of loved Julian Stateman's
aggressiveness here in the second half. He's really he's putting
the pressure on Chilli Coothie's defense, and he's got us.
(01:04:35):
I would think he has to score for him. He's
got to get more involved. Well, that was on the
jump stop and did they give him a shot? I
think they think it's a fifth foul. Oh okay, okay,
I got you. Yeah, So Stateleman going to go the
free throw line. The first free throw is good, cuts
(01:05:10):
Chilicothie's lead forty six thirty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
State I'm going to get a second again.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Rebounds become really important here on the miss because again
you've got lapard is down. They're going to go hard
at the rebound for sure. Ball bounces around the rim
and falls.
Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
Hen.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
Stateleman cuts the lead forty six to forty. Chilcathie out
in front. Two minutes to go in the third quarter,
Miller getting and running jump. Someone's got to come.
Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
Back to help. Now.
Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
He hits Badger across the timeline. Badger looks to attack downhill,
his little runner no good, tipped up by him and
no good. But but if again that extra effort ends
up having war knocked the ball out of bounds again,
Andrew Hammond's effort has been absolutely wonderful here to see.
(01:05:57):
Then bound into Miller, he tries a little mid range jumper,
no good. Stateleman comes out, looks to push a little
inside out dribbled now goes behind the back drops a
beautiful bounce pass to chase the little partis and he
lays it in. Julian Stateleman. Not just outstanding point guard
play there. Cayden Cox pushing it the other way, draws
the double team. Stone King cuts down the middle and
(01:06:20):
lays it in with the left hand. Nice job is
stone King moving with Coxy.
Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Getting so much attention? Well he's getting attention.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
He hit Badger for the three, got double teams there,
and he dished off or left Stateuman with a.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
Deep three and he knocks her down.
Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
Julian Stateleman their big time score, looking to take things
over here cuts the six point Chilicothee lead in half.
Now forty eight forty five. We're under a minute to
play in the third quarter. Miller has it out top
penetrates and kicks the Badger back out the miller.
Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
Chilicothe nice patients here. Miller into the middle, a little
step through, a little scoop all the way up. No good.
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Stateleman comes out with it. Miller's got to be careful
not to pick up another foul. Stateleman right side sealy
for three.
Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
No good, loose ball.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Rebound out to Chilicothe. Stone King has it on the
right side. In the Chilicothe bench is just begging them
to see time and score here and stone King sees
it and does a nice job, but coming out and
recognizing they would love to get the last shot here.
So stone King right in front of us, here in
front of the timeline, comes off the ball screen. Now
(01:07:32):
that he breaks the count, now the official back to
the five count. Stone King down the middle, drives to
the hole, throws up a shot. No good outcomes Stateleman
ball knocked away, ball down the Lapartison, he lays it in.
Chilicotie leads it forty eight to forty seven. As we
(01:07:54):
come to the end of the third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
Stay with us.

Welcome back Warren High School is Shane Holmes and great
Big I'm here on w B accent. It's been an
outstanding basketball game here this evening in Chilla Coffee finds
themselves on the right side of a forty eight forty
seven score and go here.
Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Into the fourth quarter. It's gonna be anybody's ballgame.
Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Greg and I think what we watched there is a
great player and Julian stateleman kind of sensed his team
in trouble, got real aggressive and had a big third
quarter there at something Chili Cooffie's gonna have to get
under control the Calves.
Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
I had him six out of sixteen from the floor.
They were two out of two for the three point line.
Badger hit a three and Hammon hit a three, so
two of two. On the other side, Warren five and
fourteen and they were just one to five from the
three point line in that quarter. As a big endo,
the game looked like the Calves took the shot a
little bit early and it enabled Warren to get down
(01:09:37):
and score.
Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
Yeah, that's well said on your part, time and score
caught up with chill Coffee there went about three or
four seconds too early and allowed them a chance. On
the other end, Warren basketball to start the fourth and
final quarter, stayed. I went over on the right side,
wants to go inside the Wells in the post. Wells
dumps it underneath a cutting.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
Barry and he lays it in.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
Nice job, Wells to Barry and the layup puts Warren
out in front forty nine forty eight. That comes Miller
comes up the right side, penetrates to the middle out
the stone King. Stone King wanted to hand it off
the cocks. Wells doing a good job of denying, trying
to take his touch as a way.
Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Now it's back out stone King. It's a first nine.
One's let in a long time. I believe we'll tied
it to half. Right, Yes, were almost turnover, almost turned
it over. Stone King got it back. Now he's going
to go and take a three, and he knocks it down.
Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
Greg you mentioned the importance of Cooper stone King maybe
finding a hot hand from the perimeter. No better time
than now. Fifty one, forty nine. Chili Cootie out in front,
Yen Stateleman. Penetrate cut off. He's gonna kick it left corner.
That ball was tipped by Chili Katie on the three
point shot. Out comes the calves. Stone King up to
(01:10:55):
the left side, penetrates to the middle. Good patience comes
back out. He's gonna pull it out and reset. Miller
will go get it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
They'll look to penetrate against Statleman.
Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
They'll stop and go moving. Great dump past two. Badger
had a lay up but blocked by Stateleman. I'll come
Sealy and.
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
He'll lay it in. Julian Stateleman with a big time.
Speaker 1 (01:11:19):
Defensive play on one end led to Sealy's layup on
the other. Fifty one, all six fourteen remaining in the game.
Stone King off a ball screen from ham and now
Hamm and'll flair. They couldn't throw an accurate pass to
get him a look Hamm and out top rose it
right side stone King, Stone King drives hard middle cut
(01:11:44):
off there back outside Hammon. Then we're gonna have a
time out here by chili kythe again full time out
fifty one fifty one.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
We'll go and take the full time out with him.

Welcome back Warren High School. Shane Combs and Greg Bigham.
We're tied at fifty one. Just been an outstanding basketball
game here this evening. Two teams that are going to
have really good seasons. I think some really good talent
out here on the floor of this evening. Miller has
it out top for the Calves, gives off to Hammon.
Hammon tries to give the Badger good denial there, Miller
(01:13:27):
comes and gets it back.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Miller drives to the middle, Bike's in.
Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
Stateleman comes left side, Hamming Hammon will go baseline cut
off there, spins it in a nice rises and shut
and shoots a.
Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
Nice shot Andrew Hammond. He has.
Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
Cavaliers out to a fifty three to fifty one advantage.
Coach Peard urging his kids to get a stop on
the other end defensively here, Stateleman wants to give way
to Wells. Little flex cut down on the baseline. Couldn't
get Sealy now La Partise has it out top. Now
it's Seey over on the right side for three history
point shots long, but Wells comes out with an offensive rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Stateleman for three. No good defensive rebound.
Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
For Badger and Cox at Chili Coffee will walk it
up fifty three fifty one Chili Cooffee. We're under five
minutes to play. Cox hands it off to Hammon, gives
way to stone King. Cox has a mismatch now he
doesn't have a speed. Guy Gardener if they can clear
it out for him. Hammon comes out top. Thought about
the three now gives way to Miller. Miller hands it
(01:14:33):
off to Cox.
Speaker 3 (01:14:33):
We're out.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Just what you're talking about, Greg Cok's down the middle,
gets to a spot in a little fade away, a
little off of one foot. Nice creative shot for Caden
Cox his first bucket of the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
Fifty five fifty one chili coffee. Back comes Stateleman. He'll
go left side barry for three. No good.
Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
Cox goes high for the rebound and he's gonna push
it out. He's got an open court opportunity here. Little
stopping go move. Gets to the left hand, draws the
double back out stone King. He'll try a three, just
short right online, but just comes off the front eye
and pretty good look for a good shooter there. It's
fifty five fifty one chilicothee. We are under four minutes
to play. Stateleman down to his left hand, drops it inside.
(01:15:16):
Lapardi's great effort from Badger knocks it away. It is
gonna be Warren ball. But that is an outstanding effort
on the nile with a free had gone in for
Cooper Dick still huge. You're still up four and him
is gonna get a break. He's Andrews had a good game,
(01:15:37):
good stuff and half.
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
For him, really good.
Speaker 1 (01:15:41):
Sism has returned for Chilicothee gives them some size inside there,
trying to get Lapardis off the glass. Now Stateuman comes
out and gets it. He's gonna come off a ball
screen and on the roll, gonna hit Lapardis and he's
gonna lay it in. Julian Stateleman and Chase lapardi Is
play a nice little two man game there, and.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
Daniel said he jumped out too quick, way too quick
off the help side, really left with far tousaul alone.
Cox with a nice little dribble move, splits the double team,
good body control with the rim and lays it in.
Caden Cox having himself a night fifty seven fifty three,
Chilicafee three point fifteen to play Stateleman left hand drives
(01:16:20):
in the middle. Jan Miller went to help and I
think he caught some arm and I think that's his fourth.
Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
So Hammon comes off the bench. I assume that'll be
for Miller. So at three twelve, Jan Miller picks up
his fourth file fifty seven fifty three three twelve inbound underneath.
Here goes over to Lapardis he's working against SISM. He
(01:16:51):
tries to bully his way into the middle.
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Sism.
Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
Body's up pretty well. Nice job, Daniel saysm Andrew Hammond'll
take the misshot off the defensive glass Badger brings it
up for ChIL Coffee. We're under three minutes with Chili
Coffee up two possessions of fifty seven to fifty three.
Stone King on the right side plays off ball screen
from Sism.
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
Comes over the left.
Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
Side deep three in the corner. That's Andrew Hammond set
up by Cooper stone King. And Andrew Hammond knocks down the.
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Triple and that pushes Chili Coffee out to what I
believe it is their biggest leader of the night at sixty.
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
To fifty three, two forty three. Let's stay here on
this one. Gregans talk about this a little bit. At
fifty seven to fifty three, that come up, good execution.
Stone King finds the hot shooter in the corner and
Hammond delivers sixty to fifty three.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
What do you like about that offensive possession?
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
Well, the same thing when Kayden Cox was driving, he drives.
I like in the second half we've got Hammon and
stone King outside the now stone King is taken over
with one out as the penetrator. He's taking the ball
down and I think that's a growth in Cooper as well.
Cooper knows he can. He had a chance to go
to the whole, but it was one on two and
he found the open man. That's a good decision making
(01:18:05):
by stunt King and Andrew. I'll tell you what combined.
Cox is the sophomore, Him is a sophomore. Future looks
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
No question. And hey, let's highlight this.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
Daniel Sism's played through a lot of foul trouble tonight.
I thought his one on one defense against lapartists on
the other end was really big to force the miss there.
So even through some foul trouble, he's going to be
really really big here on some of these final minutes
trying to guard because Wells and Lapartists are just relentless
on that offensive lass.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
Only one team foul on Shela Copey, none on Warren
so We'll see how that plays out. We've still got
two forty three, but hopefully it'll take a while and
that Lawren won't go to the foul line.
Speaker 1 (01:18:45):
Let's they're in the active shooting all right. Here we
go Seeley into the front court, gives way to Stateleman.
Stateleman drives hard to the left hand, blocked by Sism.
Stateleman gets it back, dumps it underneath the Cressey and
then again hissm over to block another shot, but this
time got him. But again great effort from Siam there
on the help but as a result kind of gave
him the second opportunity, and Pressey's gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
Go to belong.
Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
So sixty to fifty three, two twenty nine, fourth quarter.
Nick Kressey at the line to shoot two for Warren.
First free throw no good.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
They were five of six before that. In the second half,
Nick Kresty will get another.
Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
Chilli Kaffee has to have good box outs here on
the miss free throw and on the make free throw,
you know the pressure is coming.
Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
Free throw is good. Warren pushes up into a full
court man. Now they'll run and jump a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Stone King and Cox play a little back and forth now,
Cox will have it out top.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
Now hamm it over on the left side.
Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
Back out the Cox Warren gonna spread out in in
a zone trap. They throw it down low badger ball
gets knocked away, out comes Stateleman.
Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
Saleman comes down to the right side to bear.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Barry's gonna attack block by Cox and he and he
gains possession as well. Nice job, Caden Cox and Cooper
stone King is gonna get foul bringing the ball to court.
Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
Great defense his first teams.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Now you get size out, but you bring a ball
handler in and Jan Miller Warren in the trapping press.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
So you get another ball handler with one Miller in
the ball game.
Speaker 1 (01:20:25):
Sixty to fifty four Chili coffee out in front, Miller
over the Cox. Cox is gonna go diagonal to Badger.
Badger gonna pull it back out time and score. Miller's
got it. Good ball fake, He's trapped out there on
the right side his thing. The stone King splits the
(01:20:46):
trap and throws a diagonal the badger who lays it in.
Speaker 3 (01:20:49):
Outstanding job.
Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
Cooper stone King sets up cam Badger lays it in.
Sixty two fifty four Chili coofee. We're a minute twenty
six remaining in the game. The little weaver for worn
up top Stateoman has it State Eman going to try
a deep three and he got it? Big time shot
is stone King was right there? Or kid just made
(01:21:11):
a great shot? Going to have a time out for
worn full time, full time out. This time we will
take the break with them. We'll be back in one minute.

For over fifty years, the Heller family has been here

they go through the grieving process. The Hewler family continues

as unique. How the her funeral home helping families remember, share,
and heal.
Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
Welcome back Warren High School One's seventeen to play chilicoffee
up sixty two fifty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
Worn in the full court press.
Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
They get it in and now Miller over on the
side gonna get fouled by Warren. Now keep in mind
two team foules for Chilicoffee. I think that's only the
second team foul on Warn. So we're gonna need three
more worn files to get chilicoffee to the free throw line.
So the ability to inbound the ball and take care
of it gonna be huge.
Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
Here, Greg, list somebody, get long are we going? Keller
just uses quickness, comes out all the way.
Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
He spits the other end layup opportunity does not go,
but he is fouled, and because it's in the act
of shooting, he will go to the free throw line,
so one eleven to play, sixty two fifty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
If one is.
Speaker 1 (01:23:13):
Able to go to the line and make good on both,
he could push this out to three possession League Cadwa's
gonna have to make some foul shots down the stretch here.
Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
First free throw, no good.
Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
One.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
I'll get another second free throw up, also no good.
Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
Rebound statelem and lead remains sixty two to fifty seven,
one oh eight Stateleman.
Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
Downhill gets all the way to the rim, ball comes out.
Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
Lapartis on a second chances gonna lay it in and
get fouled.
Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
Chase lapardis off the statum and miss.
Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
Grabs the offensive rebound and plays up through the contact
and lays it in.
Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
Eight point. Lead could be down to two, and you
still got a minute to play.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
Sixty hindsight, almost wish, I almost wish one would have
just kept dribbling pull it out. But he had a
chance to go for the layup.
Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
Sixty two to sixty one off the made free throw,
dam Badger crossed the He's filed.
Speaker 10 (01:24:17):
By Warren.
Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
Her excuse me.
Speaker 1 (01:24:24):
Sixty two to sixty Chilicothe's lead, so fifty six seconds
to go, Chilicoffie still leads by two by apology.
Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
That might have got a break there on that file
call because Cam Badger got dribbled right into a triple team,
but he got filed. Somebody got to get open.
Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
They inbound the Badger.
Speaker 1 (01:24:45):
He's triple team and they're going to go the other
way here, and the ball is going to go back
over the Warren. So if fifty four seconds to go
the Caps turn it over, Warren will have it down two.
Speaker 10 (01:24:58):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
I was just struggling getting double on triple team.
Speaker 1 (01:25:03):
Stateleman against Miller. Miller does a good job cutting him
off there, back out to Sealy. I try to let
Stateleman not get it back. Sealy nowhere to go with it,
trying to get Barry and his coach's gonna have to
belly mout. He's gonna have a five count, so they
had to go time out again. We're gonna keep it here,
thirty eight point nine seconds to play.
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
Chili coffee up sixty two sixty. It's gonna be Warren basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
And I thought Miller did a good job of not
letting the stateman come get that ball back.
Speaker 3 (01:25:30):
Force the time out for Warren.
Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
Shan't on the inbounds plays, the calves inbounds are they're
having to come to the ball. They're getting the inbounds
pass right against the sideline all the line down there,
and it's so easy to trap him there. The inbounds
pass is just barely crossing the out of bounds line.
They need to get more spread out and get the
ball where they've got some room. They're getting the inbound pass,
(01:25:55):
but when they get the mbound in bound pass that's
right against the sideline, it's becoming a trip team with
two defenders in the sideline or the baseline. And somehow
I know the coach is gonna help him here, you know,
maybe a four man line and break along or something
like they did with one. But they're setting themselves. I
know they need to get to ball in five seconds,
but they're really getting themselves trapped easily.
Speaker 10 (01:26:15):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:26:15):
To reset this as well, Chili Cootie has three team files,
so they have one file to give where Warren is
at four team files. So the next time Chili Coothee's filed,
they will go to the free throw line, and as
you said, it's going to have to convert there. So
Warren breaks the huddle it's gonna be side out of
bounds for Warren again thirty eight point nine seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
Chilicothee leads it by two sixty two sixty Sealy stay
theman in the corner.
Speaker 1 (01:26:44):
Stone King comes and helps there a little bit the foul,
but again they had one to give.
Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
Stone King called for the foul. So thirty eight point four.
Speaker 1 (01:26:58):
Those teams will be in the two shy bonus to
rest the way out. Ceally'll be the trigger man on
the baseline. Ob Stateleman comes through good denial there from Badger.
They're gonna throat all the way out to Stateleman. Now
he'll try a deep three long off the back iron.
Badger tries to get it back, misses this. Stateleman gets
it back, gets away, maybe a little walk, and he
(01:27:20):
lays it in.
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
Julian.
Speaker 17 (01:27:23):
Stateleman lays it in and we're tied at sixty two.
Stone King in the back core are gonna bring it across.
Sixteen seconds remaining.
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
We didn't need a timeout now.
Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
Twelve stone King still has it, lose it out top
and we're going the other way. Needed to time out, well,
they had They had a time out down here in
the in the in coach Beard in the Coach Beard
and the official down.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
Here is asking why he wasn't granted the time out.
Speaker 1 (01:27:57):
You had to turn over the half and clear out
oppas sent by half course, I think Coach Beard was
trying to get a baseline official to give him a
timeout and he's not gonna get it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
So seven seconds to go sixty two to all.
Speaker 1 (01:28:12):
And now he is going to get a time out.
So again we'll stay here, just to try to reset
a little bit. Stateleman tried a deep three, the ball
comes off, Chilicoti had a chance to win a loose ball.
Stateuman got it back, drives down the middle, lays it
in to make it sixty two all, and I.
Speaker 3 (01:28:33):
Maybe got away to the walk. I agree it, I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
But then the Cavs had it. Cooper was dribbling, dribbling.
They broke the fresher. He was dribbling around, wanted to
get a late shot. You don't want to shoot too soon,
but the other four guys were just watching him, and
finally he was trying to get one to come and
get the ball. When he picked the ball up, he
lost to trying to get it to one and went
out of bounds and That was when you talked about
in all that melee of him trying to get the
(01:28:57):
ball to wan Over in the sideline, Coach Bier was
calling a time out, didn't get it in, the ball
went out of bounds to Warren. Now they're going to
get the final shot side sixty to two off, Calves
were up eight points.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
I think with just over two.
Speaker 1 (01:29:09):
Minutes Romainia, Warren's still in the huddle. Here Chili Coffee's
back out.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Again.
Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
Warren will have the ball out around half court on
the side out of bounds. And keep in mind they're
into the bonus now too, so any type of contact
off the dribble or anything is gonna put Warren on
the free throw line. The other thing you got to
be aware of here is if the shot goes up early,
you got to make sure you box out to try
(01:29:37):
to push this game. In overtime. Ceeli will inbound for Warren.
It'll be one Miller guarding Stateleman. They throw it into
him in the backcourt, Statelement across the timeline with Miller
four seconds, three seconds, bull knocked away out of bounds and.
Speaker 3 (01:29:53):
We're going the other way. So it'll just be point
two seconds. So chili coffee.
Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
Probably won't have time, but it should get them to overtime.
Here tied at sixty two, all got to make sure
you get it in though you can't have a five
second count, you know, just.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
Get it in and hold it. It's what they'll do.
Speaker 1 (01:30:07):
We're gonna go overtime and the Cocks and'll that'll do
it for regulation. Well, Greg, as good as this basketball
game's been, why not play a little bit more?
Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
Sixty two sixty two. Please do not leave us. We'll
be back with overtime action.
Speaker 1 (01:30:23):
You're listening to Chilicothee Boys basketball here on WBX.
Speaker 13 (01:30:28):

Speaker 6 (01:30:41):

Speaker 14 (01:30:43):
Right now, get a two dollars breakfast sandwich like a bacon,
egg and cheese biscuit, a sausage McMuffin with egg only
in the app. Offer valid one time per day from
seven twenty nine to nine one twenty four participate in
McDonald's must stop into rewards.

Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
Welcome back Warren High School.
Speaker 1 (01:31:32):
We are head of the overtime, tied sixty two sixty
two and again Cholicaffie with a great opportunity down the
stretch the ever win that one.
Speaker 3 (01:31:39):
But you can't worry about that now, Greg.
Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
You just got to refocus you and you got to
know that you've played really well here tonight. You're very capable,
and it's four minutes of still coming out and getting
this one on the road.
Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
Warren Warren Gamble.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
They were double triple team and jumping everywhere down that
final two minutes and the Cavs a couple of big turnovers,
and they missed two big free throws. There are one
Miller who's placed so well, but those are two big
miss free throws. And then a couple of late turnovers,
and Warn't able to come back and tiight up Cox
just as he did the start the game, gets up
and wins. The tap taps be a tip it back
(01:32:12):
to Miller. Now Chilicothee on.
Speaker 1 (01:32:14):
The opening possession, Stone team wanted Hammond, and I think
he ends up plowing it away out of bounds, turnover
for chilicythe He's gonna go.
Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
Back over to Warn Stateleman brings it up for Chilik
or for Warren. Excuse me now, I'm gonna give way
to Sealy.
Speaker 1 (01:32:33):
Back to Stateleman looks to drive hard Badger with good
help down inside the Lapardis. He spins it the middle,
shot up off the glass and good chase Lapardis puts
worn up sixty four sixty two three twenty two remaining
here in overtime. Miller drives down, wants to kick it
back out to Cox. Cox, going one on one into
(01:32:54):
the middle, drives all the way to the hoop and
lays it in Cayden Cox. Every opportunity had he's been
able to cash in the night. Warren hasn't had an
answer for him. Sixty four All three minutes to go.
Stateleman drives hard, Hammon comes over to help shot up.
No good rebound, badger out comes Cox. Cox up the
(01:33:16):
right side, wants to go one on one, drives to
the middle through contact up and he scores Cayden Cox
back to back buckets.
Speaker 3 (01:33:24):
Sixty six, sixty four Chilikothe twenty six points for Caden Cox.
Speaker 1 (01:33:29):
Wow, time out, Lauren, they're gonna go short when we'll
stay here. You know you were highlighting something I remember
on our drive home from New lex the other night.
Speaker 18 (01:33:38):
Ray.
Speaker 1 (01:33:39):
You're talking about the talent level of Caden Cox and
how you'd like to see him get a little bit
more aggressive and get to certain spots on the court.
This is a little bit what you're talking about. We're
talking about a special young man here in a special talent.
Speaker 3 (01:33:52):
We've talked a lot about it.
Speaker 2 (01:33:53):
Not that he can't he can shoot a three, but
in and around the lane six foot eight, twelve foot
that range and he gets set again I'm repeating myself,
but he gets up so high six ' three, you
can't really he's above you. And he's got such a
nice touch. He's so effective in that area. And he's
obviously been hugely effected on the inside. Tonight he's in
(01:34:16):
double figures, hamming and double figures, and I think Badger
in double figures.
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
Out of the time out Warren basketball state of mental
Habit comes across the timeline guarded by Miller, gives way
to barry out top Sealy seally gonna go down low.
Lapartis in the post and Badger tried to draw the
offensive foul.
Speaker 3 (01:34:36):
Nothing's doing.
Speaker 1 (01:34:37):
Lapardis lays it in, tied it sixty six two twenty
four to plug Miller, hand off the cocks.
Speaker 3 (01:34:44):
Cox down the middle, loses it, gets it back, comes
up through the contact and is gonna shoot two. Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:34:54):
And obviously coach coach Badick's not happy. What he's unhappy
about there is this team knocked it away. Had four
white jerseys and auto one of them got on the
floor after the loose ball.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
Okay, and you got it back off the floor. Shit.
Speaker 1 (01:35:09):
First free throw for Cox is good. Cox now with
five and overtime twenty seven for the game. Sophomore Will
get another try to add to this sixty seven sixty
six lead, and he got it. Sixty eight sixty six
chilicothe two fourteen remaining here in the first overtime one
(01:35:30):
Miller guard Stateleman off a ball stream from Lapardis, skips
it across it's Cressy hands it off Seely. Seely drives
the right, pitches it to Stateleman. Stalleman will get into
the middle, drops it off for the Lapardis. Lapartis trying
to bully his way up, but he does. Chase Lapardis
(01:35:52):
ties a sixty eight one forty seven in counting left
in overtime. Back comes Cox drives hard in the middle,
splits the double team up.
Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
No good rebound Cressey, Now.
Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
That was a little That was the first time Caden
really kind of forced one. Didn't take enough time, but
still a great shot, just didn't get to go.
Speaker 1 (01:36:11):
Stadhum comes back a little stopping go ball comes loose
Badger to the floor. We got a loose ball, and
I don't know, let's badger called time out. He had
the ball and called time.
Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:36:27):
Now the officials are gonna come together, and we got
a jump ball. I think they're saying that that no
player had possession to call the time out, and they
had a tie up situation.
Speaker 3 (01:36:37):
So on the tie up.
Speaker 1 (01:36:38):
Situation, remember Chili Coffee won the tip here in overtime,
So it's gonna be warring basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
Sixty eight, sixty eight, five to play.
Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
They drop it inside and I think we're going to
have a foul And again I looked like Cressey, nice
little seal there on the screen. They dropped the bounce pass.
I think Badger came over the top of him and
I and Pressey was one out of two in his
last strip up to the foule line. Yes, back in
(01:37:09):
the fourth quarter he was Yeah. So Cressy's first free
throw attempt no good. Again, We've highlighted it all night.
The box out is so important here because Lapartist has
just been He's been an animal on the offensive Liass,
he's been an impressive young man. Second one, no good.
Good box out from stone King out comes Cox. He'll
(01:37:30):
come ahead to Badger. Badger attacks on the drive, draws
the contact. The shot will not go, but Badger will
go to the free throw one. So sixty eight all
one's seventeen to play, Cam Badger's gonna go to the
free throw line, try to put chili coffee back up
in front. Cabs have been to the foul line fifteen
(01:37:54):
times tonight. This will be a free throw number sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
First free throw rims just all.
Speaker 1 (01:38:03):
Cam will get a second opportunity to try to put
chili coffee back up in front again. Right now we
sit at sixty eight all second free throw rims up
and drops through. Big make for Chili coofee as they
take the lead at sixty nine sixty eight, time.
Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
Out Chili coothee.
Speaker 1 (01:38:25):
And we're gonna go full or no, no, a short one.
I'm sorry, so with it being short, let's stay right here.
So again that Cam Badger free throw makes it sixty
nine sixty eight, one seventeen to play and Greg again
they've they've done a pretty good job on State when
they got to continue to keep them out of the middle,
but then.
Speaker 2 (01:38:44):
It also keeping Lapartis off the offensive glass. It looks
to me like here pretty much from the about to
the first minute of it. When they called the time out.
Warren called time out about a minute into the overtime,
Coach Maddick said, we're gonna the system's not in the game.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
We've got the advantage with Lafardis.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
They are posting him up low, and they're going low
to le Fardest almost every time. Now, you still got
to stop the point guard to Stateleman. But I think
they're looking inside and they're gonna keep going to the
little fartest because they've got a mismatch. Celia'll bring it up.
Speaker 3 (01:39:18):
For Warren.
Speaker 1 (01:39:20):
Clock at one ten in counting, goes left side Berry
and Cox takes it away, saves it in bounds, but
Stateleman runs it down for Warren. Great opportunity there for
chilicothe So Warren's got it back.
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Now seely back out to Stateleman. We're under one minute
to play.
Speaker 1 (01:39:37):
Tillicothee leads by one Stateleman guarded by Miller.
Speaker 3 (01:39:41):
He goes left side Berry or no, up top to Berry.
I'm sorry. Now Stateman's got a back.
Speaker 1 (01:39:47):
He drives middle, drops the pass off the Lapartis who
rays it in tastes Lapardis off a great pass from Stateleman.
Warren back up seventy sixty nine, thirty four seconds to go.
Miller gives way to Cox. Badger is going to come
up to set a ball screen. Cox almost lost and he.
Speaker 10 (01:40:07):
Gets it back.
Speaker 1 (01:40:08):
It's right side him and for three no good rebaild
by Badger.
Speaker 3 (01:40:14):
And he has filed to set Lafartist over the back.
Speaker 1 (01:40:19):
Seventy sixty nine warn twenty seconds ago and cam Badger
Andrew Hammond had a nice lookout on the three. Comes
off Badger with a great effort on the offensive glass
and he was filed.
Speaker 3 (01:40:31):
So he'll shoot two. First free throw attempt no good.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
So Warren remains out in front seventy sixty nine again,
twenty point three on the clock, as are.
Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
Three out of their last seventh from the foul line.
Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
That's where the Badger, with another opportunity, misses it very
at the rebound and he is fouled by Chilicothe. So
it's going to send Barry to the free throw line.
A couple of seconds that come off there, So eighteen
point one.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
So the Cavs.
Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
A lot of times, they've done so many things well,
but the foul line hasn't done hasn't been good for
him here late they're three out of their last day
from the foul line. In three times on the fourth
quarter and overtime they've had a two shot foul missed
them both.
Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
That's and it's a tight game. It's something they hadn't
been in for a while, these kind of games.
Speaker 1 (01:41:36):
Connor Barry comes up short on his first one, so
worn up seventy sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Barry will get a second one. They've missed their last
three in a row.
Speaker 1 (01:41:49):
Barry's second attempt is up and it is good, seventy
one sixty nine, seventeen seconds to go. Miller are bringing
across the time line, looks to hand it off the
Cox Cox's double team there plays through.
Speaker 3 (01:42:05):
Contact and the ball comes out. Then Warren has a steal.
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
Sealy has the ball and he's filed by Chilicothe on
the handoff.
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
They jumped the handoff into.
Speaker 1 (01:42:15):
Trap as Caden Cox tried to split it certainly playing
through contact, no call, and the ball comes out loose
and Warren takes possession. And now Seely, Jacob Seely, the
senior guard, will go to the free throw line again.
Warren's up seventy.
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
One sixty nine, so til Cothie still has an opportunity
if Seely's not able to make both of these.
Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
On the five hours their way on Campbell floor, you
described it. They wanted to go to the Why not?
I wanted to go to Caden Cox.
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
First free throw no good.
Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
So again even if he makes this here, Tilakati have
a great opportunity. But again you got a box out first.
Sealy's second free throw, he got it. So now a
three point game.
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
And Warren, Warren's gonna take the time out.
Speaker 1 (01:43:25):
Let's stay here so we can set set everything up
for the fans here seventy two sixty nine. Warn Chilikati
is gonna be going the full length of the floor.
Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
Now, if you're Warren, the one.
Speaker 1 (01:43:36):
Strategy in basketball today that's always talked about. They would
have the opportunity to fowl if they wanted to. But
with it going in the full length of the floor,
you almost wonder if you'd be doing Chilikofie a little
bit of a favor, because that's gonna be hard for
Chilicoti to push this.
Speaker 2 (01:43:50):
In and get a good look up for the three
point long Yeah only four a little over four point
six seconds remain. Yeah, Yeah, I give Warren. They did something.
I mean they you know, Cox was probably gonna get
the ball and soon and you described it. When he
got the ball, the Calves had a chance there. But
when he got the ball, they jumped and double team
(01:44:10):
didn't and they're letting them play.
Speaker 3 (01:44:12):
You know, did he get bout? It was rough. They
got the ball away from me, turned it over.
Speaker 2 (01:44:16):
But you're right if I'm Warren, if the Calves get
I think the Calves might try to throw it along here.
It looks like they might try to throw along to Cox,
but they may try to foul. With only four point six.
Speaker 1 (01:44:28):
Coming out of the time out, as Drake said, four
point six seventy two sixty nine, warn sisam is going
to be the endbounder.
Speaker 3 (01:44:36):
Got Cox all the way deep. Now they're gonna throw it.
Speaker 1 (01:44:40):
Cox comes up, gets across the timeline, He's gonna put
up from the volleyball line. Shut up, Oh off the
backboard and rims out and that will do it. In overtime,
Chilicotie and Cox was that close to sending us to
a second overtime and the ball simply just comes out
and Warren hangs on to beat Chili Coothee seventy two
(01:45:02):
to sixty nine. What an outstanding basketball game here, the
seven unbelievable Calves up by eight a little over two
minutes remaining.
Speaker 2 (01:45:12):
Warren put the pressure on and the Calves Mississi of
Keith free throws. But they also had a couple of
key in Lake turnovers. But again they were getting double
triple team. And I go back to the point, I'm
not sure these guys, the Calves pretty young ball club.
They've not been in a try to protect a two
or three point lead less than a minute to play.
Nor they've been a lot of overtimes in the last couple.
Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
Of week, and especially against an opponent of this caliber
and this atmosphere. So hey, so much to talk about,
Greg and I will certainly come back here on the
post game and try to explain it to the best
we can, but for now we'll take a quick time out.
Speaker 3 (01:45:46):

Welcome Back Warren High School.
Speaker 1 (01:48:26):
Just a heartbreaker for the Chillicothee Cavaliers coming on the
road here on the long road trip and playing one
of the premiere programs in all Southeast Ohio and this
Warren squad and Jillicofie really kind of controlled the regulation throughout,
kind of let some things get away from him there
at the end of regulation. Great said it not excuse,
but a young basketball team and a tough atmosphere, a
(01:48:48):
great opponent who's used to winning, and you know, it
didn't go their way to their credit, and overtime Chilcotie
still had some chances and at the end warn makes
some free throws. Cox got great look considering it was,
you know, four seconds ago and I think district that
had he banked it it went. It went kind of
part of the way in and backed out. But yeah,
gotta look, you know, Greg, if you look back through
(01:49:11):
the quarters tonight fifteen nine, Chilicoffee led it. At the
end of the first quarter. Chilicotie fought some foul trouble
in the second quarter, and it was thirty one thirty
one at halftime. Chilicothe still up forty eight to forty
seven after three, and then we were tied at sixty
two all when we headed overtime, and then Warren wins
it seventy two sixty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:49:30):
I'll come back with some scoring here in a second.
What numbers do you have there, force greg.
Speaker 2 (01:49:33):
Well unofficially at chilicothee twenty six of fifty five from
the floor for forty seven percent. They shut them all well.
Tonight they were six of seventeen from threes.
Speaker 3 (01:49:42):
That's not bad.
Speaker 2 (01:49:43):
That's over thirty three percent. And I only had them
for nine turnovers. Now, they had three crucial ones late
when they were getting trapped in triple team. But I
had them under ten turnovers on the other side, and
the big key as it winds up tonight, Chilicothe from
the foul line nine of nineteen. So when you shoot
under fifty percent from the foul line in a tight game,
(01:50:04):
it's tough, no question. On the other side, Warren also
shot nineteen free throws, but they made twelve of them.
There's your three point difference in the ballgame. They were
twenty eight of sixty two similar percentage. They were four
sixteen from the three point line, and I only had Warren,
I think, with seven or eight turnovers as well. So really,
when you look at it, I don't think turnovers hurts
(01:50:25):
you down the stretch. A couple of turnovers down the stretch,
that happens. But probably the key stat Cavs shot well.
They had some bright spots tonight, twenty eight from the
their sophomore Caden Cox, and but ten of nine of
nineteen from the foul line. Three times in late and
late in the ballgame. They went over two on a
two shot found and you know, hey, they're sixteen years old.
(01:50:46):
But on the other part, when you look at stats,
that hurt him tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
No question.
Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
And when you look at the scoring on the Warren side, Now,
Julian Stateleman did get twenty, but I don't know you
twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
I felt like they turned him into a volume sh
terrific player.
Speaker 11 (01:51:01):
You.
Speaker 1 (01:51:01):
I mean, he'd get a shot whenever he wanted. But
I thought Chila Coffee made him really work hard. And
then they hold Connor Barry the other big score to eight.
But the difference tonight was the physicality you highlighted at
Greg well during the entire game. Chase lapartis his physicality
on the post up and on the offensive glass. He
has twenty eight to lead Warren there. He was terrific
(01:51:22):
down low for them. And then you get some roll
guys adding in Hayden Wells with six, Colin Anthony with two,
Nick Cressey with five, Jacob Seal with three. But remember
it was Cressy and Seely at the free throw line.
There late was Ceily making the one free throw to
stretch it out to a three point advantage for Chila.
Speaker 3 (01:51:39):
Coffee in a losing effort.
Speaker 1 (01:51:42):
I still think we've really really got to highlight the
play of Caden Cox.
Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
He scores twenty eight points tonight. I thought he was
just terrific.
Speaker 1 (01:51:48):
It was a twenty eight that had a little bit
of everything, had some one on one ability getting into
the free throw line, great defender, did some nice things
in the open cored, but again twenty eight for Caden Cox.
Such a bright future here to lead the Cavalier program.
And then Andrew Hammond I thought played really really well
at thirteen points, provided a lot off the bench for
(01:52:09):
Chillicothee cam Badger with eleven, one, Miller with seven, Cooper
stone King with seven, and Daniel Sism with three. You know, so, Greg,
I mean, look the results of the loss, and you
know it's going to sting a little bit. But if
you're Chilli Cofee and I don't know you feel about
it compared to how I felt leaving New lex the
other night.
Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
You've got to come.
Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
Away here feeling real, real good about the potential of
your basketball team in twenty twenty four twenty twenty five,
do you not?
Speaker 3 (01:52:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
I agree, And I think you talked about rhythm and
you and coach Bier and I think they saw some
of that tonight. I think it's still early in the season,
but I like the fact that I think I think
there's some roles starting to develop.
Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
What you know, what you need to do.
Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
There were some crunch times tonight when you need a
debucket or you need it, and they kept matching warn
with buckets there even in the overtime till right end.
Uh And the last couple of times down Cayden got
a shot off and he got double team and then
he got triple team and lost the ball, so they
were stopping him. But I like the fact that Cox
you you got the ball to him in areas where
he can score in the lane baseline, those mid range jumpers,
(01:53:17):
I thought, uh, you know him and post I thought
Andrew is a post up shooter. But he showed the
ability a couple of times to go up on a
short range jumper. He's getting more physical. They didn't get
a lot out of season because he was in foul trouble.
I thought Van Miller played well tonight defensively two. Uh,
he's starting to identify. I think what's a good shot
when what he can do offensively, and then I think
(01:53:38):
Cooper is as well as too. I think Cooper Cooper
had a lot of pressure he started since he was
a freshman, and last year he was one of the
If he didn't score twenty twenty five, they didn't have
much of a chance. And I see Cooper adjusting to
what he does well. I think he missed some threes tonight,
but they were good open look threes.
Speaker 14 (01:53:56):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Unfortunately he got caught there to him when the game
was tied before the end of regulation and you know
we needed a time out. Cooper was trying to dribble
around and make sure we got the last shot. But
you know, I saw him take good threes, not force things.
Drive down the lane and see the open man. He
becomes a little more of a point. So I see
roles developing that we certainly didn't have last year. A
(01:54:20):
year later, and it's what you said. I see a
lot of those roles, a whole lot better tonight, identifying
what we do well, players where they need to be
on the floor, a lot better than the new lex
the other night. Yeah, I agree, and I think there's
a lot to be excited about as you go through,
and I'm anxious to follow it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:37):
I'll tell you what we'll do. We'll take one more
time out. We'll come back.
Speaker 1 (01:54:40):

we will. If not, then we'll wrap it up. But again,

and we're joined by Coach Beard of Chilicoffee. Coach, first
of all, appreciate with a long bus dride. You taken
a few minutes to come out and talk. And you know, look,
Greg and I were talking about it.
Speaker 3 (01:56:05):
The result is what it is. It stings a little bit.
Let's start on the positive side.
Speaker 1 (01:56:09):
Playing such an incredible opponent and this incredible atmosphere, long
bus trip. You just had to be thrilled to death
with how your kids had come out and competed the night.
Speaker 18 (01:56:16):
Oh yeah, that was the first thing I said. We
went to a locker room. You guys, get your head up.
This is gonna sting for a hot second. I said,
But I want you to look at my face. I'm
tickled to death the way we played our long.
Speaker 10 (01:56:27):
Bus ride here.
Speaker 18 (01:56:28):
We're supposed to come here and get beat by thirty plus,
and our kids just put on a heck of effort tonight.
You know we're never going to point fingers. We had
a couple of things go wrong for us there late
in the game. Myself, I tried to call time out
too late, So I told the kids, I said, this
loss is on me. I should have called that time
out a little bit sooner. When we were up I
believe it was two, and we had the basketball so
(01:56:50):
great effort from our kids, tough environment, very good basketball team,
well coached.
Speaker 10 (01:56:55):
And we went toe to toe with them to night.
Speaker 2 (01:56:58):
Well, coach, you you talked a little bit about I
thought from the New Lex game to tonight, I don't
know how. I think you're starting to there's some identity
going on, guys. Your strengths are starting to come out
of where guys need to be on the floor. Certainly
Cox was a part of that. When Kayden gets the
ball in the lane on the baseline, he gets up
so well about mid raged jumper is a strong point.
(01:57:19):
I thought Cooper took good shots. He didn't hit all
these threes like he's capable of, but he took good shots.
And he also was able to take the point guard
and deliver it. Andrew is a stand up three point shooter,
but he was able. Guys began to, I think, be
on spots on the floor offensively. You've gained some identity
of what you do well. Tonight certainly a whole lot
better than a New Lex the other night.
Speaker 10 (01:57:41):
Yeah that I was very disappointed a New Lex game.
Speaker 18 (01:57:44):
You know, all week I've been talking about self inflicted wounds,
and to me, that's what happened to us the New Lex.
Speaker 10 (01:57:50):
We talked about some of the things that we needed
to cheer up.
Speaker 18 (01:57:54):
We come out tonight and I didn't see any of
that type of stuff that went on against new Lex
rotation in sinil possessions weren't weren't there when they were
supposed to be there. But you go to to toe
with a warning and then take them all overtime guys,
retired guys in foul trouble. But you know, as a coach,
I was kind of leary coming into the gym today.
(01:58:15):
Warren had got beat last night against Marietta, so I
knew they had a chip on their shoulder. But my
guys responded and like I said, I'm tickled to.
Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
Death, you know, and Shane could take the last question
off finished with this one. You know, these kids have
not been in a game, certainly on the road, in
a tight game, trying to hold onto the lead and
then being in overtime. That's a new experience for a
lot of them. Not that they have never happened to them,
but it's something that's kind of new. It's going to
help them down the road, hopefully down the stretch. You know,
they were triple double team, but down the stretch something
(01:58:46):
I think kids will get more and more used to.
You wound up nine of nineteen from the foul line,
and you look at stats that hurt you. Hey, guys,
don't try to miss free throws, but it's it's kind
of a new situation down the stretch for some of
the kids. But nine of nineteen wound up hurting you
at down the stretch.
Speaker 10 (01:59:00):
Yes, it did. One thing we did do better though
today is we converted a lot of easy baskets around
the rems. Yes, that that was a plus.
Speaker 3 (01:59:08):
We finished.
Speaker 18 (01:59:09):
So you know, we'll get back to working on a
little free throws and hopefully we get better with that.
But yeah, we we definitely need to get a little
bit better to free throws. Decision making late in the
game a couple of possessions kind of hurt.
Speaker 10 (01:59:23):
But you know, I'm not going to look at that.
Speaker 18 (01:59:24):
I'm going to look at it as our kids played
hard and tough and like you said, it's only going
to help us down the stretch.
Speaker 1 (01:59:29):
Well, coach, last question will get you out of here.
It would be unfair after the performance on this stage
from Kyd and Cox just not to ask you about
your your your young talented start there just so so talented.
And I thought he was so aggressive tonight and really
showed off, you know, his entire skill setting and incredible
teammates too, for spacing the floor and giving him.
Speaker 3 (01:59:48):
The opportunity to do that.

Speaker 18 (01:59:51):
Kate and I had a long talk after in the
Lexington game, and I felt like he was not playing
up to this potential. So I really challenged him today
to come in some times he worried about being a ballhog.
Guy said, you know, when you you've got a skill
set like yours, you're supposed to take the majority of
these shots on the team.
Speaker 10 (02:00:06):
So I thought he did a very good job breaking
his defender down. I got on him early. I thought
he settled for a couple of threes.
Speaker 18 (02:00:12):
Where you should have attacked the basket what he's good at.
But he got settled in and had a heck of
a basketball game for us.
Speaker 2 (02:00:17):
All right, well, coach, thanks for stopping by again. A
lot of positives from them tonight to a long bus
ride home, and yeah, given all your games.
Speaker 3 (02:00:25):
Back on the road again, Right.
Speaker 18 (02:00:27):

the same effort like we had tonight.

of luck, team. I appreciate you, thank you, thank you.

Pat for joining us here on the on the post
game caps back out of Tuesday and uh, final comment again,
I think we summed it up there the coach, a
lot of positives U, some things down the stretch, a
couple of big turnovers, uh, and some misfree throws, but
that happens. They're only their young men. But I think
those are new experiences for these kids. Hope I don't
(02:01:00):
help them down the road. Hey, no question, I'll tell
you what. I wasn't sure what to expect coming in.
Speaker 1 (02:01:05):
Someone asked me about Telokafia said, I don't know if
they're a year away or not, but I tell you,
after watching them on the stage tonight, I think the
time is now.
Speaker 3 (02:01:13):
I really do.
Speaker 1 (02:01:13):
I think this is a team that, Yeah, sure they're
going to go through growing pains, but a lot of
talent and a lot of improvements they've made already. So well,
on that note, it's been a fun night, incredible basketball game.
We want to thank Nathan Beckham Studio for putting in
the long night with us. Great thank you for making
the trip over with me. I really enjoyed calling.
