about movies, what's on the big screen, maybe what's streaming.
We're going to tackle a little bit of both of
those today, and we're also going to tackle the age
old question of how much toilet paper do you really

but you're trying. But he has a different philosophy. We
found that out. It's not a leather glove.

It's a tiny little piece literally of tissue paper, and
you're going to break through that if you're not careful.

Not yet, Okay, but you're going to see it. I
am going to see it, and I know.

Okay. It's got mixed reviews so far.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, I think you know, you're always going to people,
especially in the Star Wars Phantom, that are gonna take
it and pick it.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Apart because it's so close to their hearts.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
It's so close to their hearts that sometimes people who
are deep track fans cannot separate.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
WHOA what just happened? Did I just go off there?

They cannot separate, you know, just it's just supposed to
be fun. It's a space cowboy story, like it's supposed
to be fun. I am excited about it, are you
guys excited?

Gary, I'm not going to see it in the theater.
What do you mean why he has to be a

No, I just did all for the same reasons that
people are going to pick it apart. I just don't
get that invested in him anymore.

Oh. I mean, I thought it would be something that
you didn't want to hear other people talking through.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
Well, there's also that, I mean, that would be super annoying.
But I'm not motivated by those movies the way I
used to be, and there are listen, I grew up
on those movies. So it's just too many. It's a
little oversaturation. No, I enjoy I enjoyed the continuation of
the whole thing. I liked Rogue one when it came out.
I thought that was a creative way to kind of

expand it.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
But this is kind of like a spin off, right,
Like it's not a major yeah, and it feels like
the TV series.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
It feels like the TV series was perfectly fine, Like
you didn't really need It's wildly popular, obviously, but it
didn't really need to do a movie about it.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
The series was amazing, and I remember it came out
like either during twenty twenty or the year after. It
was during the movie, we were all glued to our
TVs and everyone was like, this is amazing. You know,
this is what we need to bring us all the
other little Star Wars movie TV series. You know, I
don't know, it remains to be seen how well the
movie will do. I will definitely go see it. You know,
my husband is a big Star Wars fan. One of

our bathrooms has like a Star Wars theme in it.
My brother bathroom, I could use you can.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Use that one.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
We have a hand towel that says it's called the
hand towel, and it has it a hand.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
My brother has little touches all throughout his house of
Star Wars, like like a rug in a hallway that
you don't you wouldn't realize it, but if you look closely,
there's a little Star Wars guys in the road.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
I think everybody, everybody that's in our age group probably
has something in their home that is that you do.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
I have a bottle opener. Okay, that's a but.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Not like decoration like my brother got away with it,
Like I don't know if your wife, like my brother
got away with like literal like.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Home accents that are Star Wars Star Wars related. I
sort of relegated all of that to the one bathroom. Yeah,
the poop and bathroom. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I think that's
a circle on the dirty room.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
I saw remarkably bright Creatures on Netflix with Sally Field,
which I adored. I adored the book, and I was
worried that it was going to be a bastardization of
the book. But when I saw Sally Field was attached
to it. I thought, no, they're not going to go wrong.
They can't go wrong, and they didn't. In fact, I
loved it so much. It was a lengthy movie. It
was about two hours, which is kind of more rare
(05:24):
for Netflix. I think at least some movies that I
watch on Netflix kind of stick to about an hour,
half an hour and forty five.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
But this was about two hours.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
And there was still so much that wasn't said that
was said in the book, in terms of the octopus
knowledge that you aren't learn in the book, how smart
they are, how interesting the creature is.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
But my god, what a touching movie.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Yeah, this is remarkably bright creatures, like you said, And
it was adapted from a book from Shelby Van Pelt,
from her novel.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Her First Also yeah, I believe her first.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah, And as you said, sorry, Sally, Sally Field, Lewis Pullman,
Joan Chen and then the auto puts his voice by
Alfred Molina.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
And it's getting a lot of.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Really great reviews because it is a it's one of
those movies that is sort of a coming of age,
but also people finding themselves, people who maybe are somewhat
lost or lonely in life, finding an unlikely pairing and
friendship and purpose, purpose and guidance. And Sally Field. You know,
we talk a lot about like who's a movie star?

To me, Sally Field is one of those like old
school movie stars, and she brings such a gravitas and
a subtlety a lot of her performer perfectly, and so
she's really great in this. Lewis Pulman is really really
growing up to be or growing into his own as
an actor. I know he of course has a very
famous father, Bill Pulman, but he's definitely carving out a

niche for himself in his own right as a talented actor. So, yeah,
if you're looking for something to watch this Weegin on Netflix.
This is a beautiful movie. I'm so glad you watched
it and you liked that.

I loved it. My husband loved it too.
Speaker 5 (07:00):
Okay, my wife started to watch it because she was
with her parents, but then had to cut it off.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
So I think we might watch that. Yeah, it's nice.

Are I want to discuss this Shrek nostalgia thing, do it?

From that generation. I have none of that crap that
Star Wars junk in my house at all. I couldn't
even stand the movie. You know, it was better the
following year, the same month, the Buddy Hawley's Story, one
hundred percent better movie.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
So do you have like broken planes and bodies littered
throughout your home.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
The Buddy Holly where like Big Bopper died and have
a big plane crash altar in your living room? What furniture? Listen?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
And again, I don't care if people don't like Star Wars.
That's that's fine everybody.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I just thought I hated it, okay. For course, I
don't think I've ever heard that takes on Star Wars.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
I think that there are people who like to be
the anti cool, like, oh, I'm not into that contrarian
like I like stuff that's.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
More high brown. I was when I was nine. I
was watching a Kira Kurosawa movies film. Yeah, there's always
going to be those people, But you know what, get
over it. It's Star Wars. It's awesome. Heather Brooker has

The Academy Award winning movie Shrek is coming back to
theaters twenty fifth anniversary.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yes we are old.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
I I mean I was a child when I came out,
so just a bag I liked.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
You were not a child, I would say I was.
My child was a child at the time. So we
got to see it. Obviously we saw it, probably more
than we should have, but.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
It was it was like the first I think it.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Well, I didn't pay attention to animated movies, but for me,
it was like the first one that did adult jokes
but masked as a children's movie, so it made fun
for parents and kids alike.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yes, you know, it is interesting to me the fandom
that has continued with this movie.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Like if you go to Universal Studios on any day
of the week, they've got the talking Donkey there with
a massive line of people gathered around here. If Donkey
says their name, you know they've got a whole ride
and show and performance that's dedicated to Shrek. It is
an incredibly popular franchise and movie. And I it didn't
it didn't resonate with me. You know, around this time,
(09:39):
I think my husband and I were getting married when
this first came out, so I wasn't really watching I
wasn't watching animated films, but I know I.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Was still making my way through the Fellini catalog.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Please, I was about sports, says. But like it was age,
it had a huge impact. It was one of DreamWorks
first big movies. And so yeah, it's still people love
Shrek though, people love the Shrek. So if you want
to go see it, it's going to be released in
theaters this weekend.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
You know, you mentioned the Donkey, which is Eddie Murphy
in the movies. Right.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
One of the things that I thought was interesting about
the Robin Williams book you read it too, was that
he had such a problem with Disney using him as
the voice of the Genie selling stuff like that was
a really big well, like the hill that he died on.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I mean not really, but you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Well, now, so because of what was you know, so
many actors of these popular animated films there, you know,
these companies were just taking their voice and putting them
in theme parks and commercials and toys and when and
whatever that actors and their reps realized, oh my gosh,
we're missing on a lot of money we could be
making here, right. You know, so if you go to
(10:48):
the theme park for a long time, even in you know,
any of the theme parks, the actual voices of the
characters were something different, like slightly different, and now some
of them have the same voices from the character.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
So they've obviously paid to have AI.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, because there's all that gray area now, yeah, yeah,
so make it sound like Robin Williams, make it sound
like Eddie Murphy and they can, and they can because
the legislation hasn't caught up or the regulation.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, exactly, So I think, yeah, there's there's definitely money
on the table that these actors are now like, hey,
you want to use my voice for fifty years in
this ride, you know you need to pay me.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I told my Siri I, which I learned to do
that trick yesterday with Andy what Siri? I instead of
saying the name what oh?
Speaker 2 (11:33):

joined us to talk entertainment.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
From that generation. I have none of that crap that
Star Wars junk in my house at all. I couldn't
even stand the movie. You know, it was better the
following year, the same month, the Buddy Hawley's Story, one
hundred percent better movie.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
So do you have like broken planes and bodies littered
throughout your home.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
The Buddy Holly where like Big Bopper died and have
a big plane crash altar in your living room? What furniture? Listen?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
And again, I don't care if people don't like Star Wars.
That's that's fine everybody.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I just thought I hated it, okay. For course, I
don't think I've ever heard that takes on Star Wars.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
I think that there are people who like to be
the anti cool, like, oh, I'm not into that contrarian
like I like stuff that's.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
More high brown. I was when I was nine. I
was watching a Kira Kurosawa movies film. Yeah, there's always
going to be those people, But you know what, get
over it. It's Star Wars. It's awesome. Heather Brooker has
joined us.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
The Academy Award winning movie Shrek is coming back to
theaters twenty fifth anniversary.
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yes we are old.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
I I mean I was a child when I came out,
so just a bag I liked.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
You were not a child, I would say I was.
My child was a child at the time. So we
got to see it. Obviously we saw it, probably more
than we should have, but.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
It was it was like the first I think it.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Well, I didn't pay attention to animated movies, but for me,
it was like the first one that did adult jokes
but masked as a children's movie, so it made fun
for parents and kids alike.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Yes, you know, it is interesting to me the fandom
that has continued with this movie.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Like if you go to Universal Studios on any day
of the week, they've got the talking Donkey there with
a massive line of people gathered around here. If Donkey
says their name, you know they've got a whole ride
and show and performance that's dedicated to Shrek. It is
an incredibly popular franchise and movie. And I it didn't
it didn't resonate with me. You know, around this time,
(09:39):
I think my husband and I were getting married when
this first came out, so I wasn't really watching I
wasn't watching animated films, but I know I.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Was still making my way through the Fellini catalog.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Please, I was about sports, says. But like it was age,
it had a huge impact. It was one of DreamWorks
first big movies. And so yeah, it's still people love
Shrek though, people love the Shrek. So if you want
to go see it, it's going to be released in
theaters this weekend.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
You know, you mentioned the Donkey, which is Eddie Murphy
in the movies. Right.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
One of the things that I thought was interesting about
the Robin Williams book you read it too, was that
he had such a problem with Disney using him as
the voice of the Genie selling stuff like that was
a really big well, like the hill that he died on.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I mean not really, but you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Well, now, so because of what was you know, so
many actors of these popular animated films there, you know,
these companies were just taking their voice and putting them
in theme parks and commercials and toys and when and
whatever that actors and their reps realized, oh my gosh,
we're missing on a lot of money we could be
making here, right. You know, so if you go to
(10:48):
the theme park for a long time, even in you know,
any of the theme parks, the actual voices of the
characters were something different, like slightly different, and now some
of them have the same voices from the character.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
So they've obviously paid to have AI.
Speaker 3 (11:04):
Yeah, because there's all that gray area now, yeah, yeah,
so make it sound like Robin Williams, make it sound
like Eddie Murphy and they can, and they can because
the legislation hasn't caught up or the regulation.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, exactly, So I think, yeah, there's there's definitely money
on the table that these actors are now like, hey,
you want to use my voice for fifty years in
this ride, you know you need to pay me.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
I told my Siri I, which I learned to do
that trick yesterday with Andy what Siri? I instead of
saying the name what oh?
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Got it? Okay a l e XA, got it to
sound like Heather Brooker? What is happening? Is Shannon having
a stroke? What's going on?
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Always Heather Brooker is is going to be heard this weekend?
Speaker 2 (11:51):

The LA Press Club finalists were released, and I am
up for Best Entertainment Reporting and I'm so excited. I'm
against some incredibly talented and smart people. So I already

I miss voting on your dresses. I miss award season.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Yes, I get if I get to go if okay,

Hey, if I on Sunday, we're going to talk about Okay,
if I live on Sunday, we're going to talk about
e bikes. We're going to do a deeper dive on that,
and we are also going to talk about medication estrogen
that a lot of women are not able to get
right now and it is a big problem. The FDA
needs to address it. So we're going to talk about that.
Speaker 2 (13:01):

Speaker 3 (13:04):
Yeah, well doesn't estrogen Is that one makes you like,
you know, emotional and stuff.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
No, it balances out with hormones.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
So when you I just don't like it that he
I love how I'm taking it like, no, Shannon, No,
it's good.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Yeah, why No.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
The estrogen balance is out your progesterone and you need
it to sort of keep your hormone stable. It's when
there's an imbalance.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Oh that makes you crazy. Yes, it's when.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
There's an imbalance that you know makes you a little
nutty icy. Yeah, so we're to talk about that.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
I'm saying nothing. Smart man, smart, smart f and guy
