Hollywood’s biggest night is almost here! show where we cover all things entertainment, from Sokal to
the silver screen. And the biggest entertainment story of the
year is happening this weekend the Academy Awards, the ninety
eighth Academy Awards are happening in Hollywood on Sunday, and
I sat down with Gary and Shannon for our weekly
entertainment report to give you this scoop on the Oscars. Also,

we're going to talk a little bit about what's happening
in Hollywood with the diminishing actors and actresses. Everybody's getting
so thin. What's going on there? Why are they doing that? Also,
we have some surprises. Gary and Shannon won an Oscar
and I challenge them to see if they can give
us their best Oscars speech. Let's take a listen. I

Aware of it when Bill Belichick's girlfriend, albeit she is
an adult but barely, when he was spotted at her

a cheer ours wasn't good either, but we weren't. Also,
my squad in high school was not very good. I
remember I tried out to be a cheerleader in college
at Oklahoma State and I was too tall. They had
height requirements. Then I was too tall because they were like,
the guys will not be able to throw you up

You're too tall. And then I was like, okay, yeah,
that dream faded away.

was like, hard pass Elmer, you were in the Air Force.

We had a record number of nominations for the movie Sinners.
Yeah this, Yeah, does that mean it's going to be
the best picture?

So here's what I find always happens when there's something
with like a record number of nominations, it either does
really really well or gets completely overlooked. So honestly, with Sinners,
it's only recently gained a little bit of momentum during
award season, with Michael B. Jordan winning at the Actor
Awards for Best Actor and it also won I believe

Best Ensemble Cast as well. Before that, it seemed like
it was one battle after another's you know, runaway train.
But things have shifted so it could go either way
this year between one battle after another and sinners, I
do think that Michael B. Jordan is going to get
some love. It's definitely not going to be shallow may
that's for sure. He's kind of I think this recent
(04:42):
skufuffle with the ballet and opera community has maybe heard us.
I'm serious, you guys. The backlash has been pretty broad.
Even like Academy voters have come out and said, this
is we don't this is not the way to win
the Best Actor role here. We support all everybody as artists.

But but before we get too into this, you guys
know how long they have for an acceptance speech at
the OSCAR forty seconds, forty five seconds, forty seconds five
seconds get in honor of the Oscars. I have everyone's
name on the Gary and Shannon team right here in
my little cup. I'm gonna pull out a winner, and

my life. You made an impact on me. Oh wow,

on stage crying and emotional and you know all of that.

So I think that we're going to see Sinner's name
called a lot. We're definitely going to see Jesse Buckley
for Hamnet. The best Actor race is kind of a
toss up, I think between Sinners and Oh, we're running
out of time. But I want to say really quickly,
if you have not seen Train Dreams. Yet go and
see it, olix. It is a Best Picture nominee that

has not been getting nearly enough love.

This uh this year. It sounds like it's going to
make me cry.

It's a beautiful movie. It's it harkens back to like
like a like just a film. It's a beautiful film.
It's beautifully shot. Joel Edgerton is in it, and it
is based on a novella. Beautiful story, beautifully shot and
train dreams.

you like them?

You know, I like Conan O'Brien.

I feel like he has been one of those unproblematic,
you know, comedians for many, many years. I think he's
a great host. I think he has a very quirky
and unusual sense of humor that maybe doesn't always translate
in every setting. But I think he's pretty well loved
in the industry. And so yeah, he said he he
said he's gonna try some new things this year. So
we'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
I love it when that kind of a comedian, somebody
who's not necessarily in all of Hollywood right is up
on stage because it shines such a light on the
people who are so serious about their line of work.
And listen, take it seriously. When you're making your movie,
you're making a hamnet. Yeah that's not a laugh a day. No,
(11:46):
you're not gonna see a lot of bloopers had a hamnet.
But at the same time, when you're there celebrating and
having fun and having a party, relaxed, calm down, like
just give it a break for one night.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Serious side of your actory craft. I think some people
have a hard time doing that, you know. But I
think this year is going to be interesting because there's
a lot happening internationally, There's a lot happening politically. Conan
has always pretty much straight away from that kind of
humor and those kinds of things, unlike other you know,
talk show hosts and and that sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I think it'll be a good show. I think he's
gonna find a nice balance.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
What has he been up to, Well, he hosts his podcast.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
He actually has a pretty prolific podcast company with several podcasts,
popular podcasts underneath his team Coco I'm Around.

Yeah, yeah, So I think he's gonna be great. What
time should I be tuned into the oscars?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I don't want like the pre red carpet, right, you
don't like that red carpet, but like the red carpet,
the actual red carpet, not the pre like E I
think remember remember like for hours. Yeah, sometimes even earlier.
The coverage usually starts around noon. You got you've got
outlets that are there live on the carpet around noon.
The show starts at five, so maybe for so four

o'clock you can tune in the local ABC station here
does on the red carpet. They do a really great
job of their coverage. I always kind of have mixed
feelings sometimes about the national people they bring in for
the main coverage. I'm like, who is this person? You're
probably gonna see a lot more influencers and TikTok TikToker
types or whatever. Then you normally would you know in
previous years, which I don't love, but yeah, I would say,

if you tune in around four thirty, you'll get a
little bit of fashion the people who are running late,
and then you'll get the start of the show, which
is always usually you know, the most fun part.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
A lot of hype for next weekends big movie which
is opening Project Hail Mary.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yes with Ryan Gosling. Yes.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Wait, honest today I thought it was this movie is
it this weekend? Or oh my god, we can talk
about that next week.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
We can, but I just want to seen it ahead
of the red carpet.

I know we're not supposed to say anything because it's
not nice either way, but I am concerned about Demi Moore.

I know, were just not saying anything about that. I know,
is that okay? Is that health?

There's a lot of actresses and actors right now who
are people believe are taking a lot of the GLP
ones and the weight loss drugs. Everybody's on ozebic, even
the people that don't need it, they're on the ozonic
and they're presenting as very thin, very very unhealthy looking.
And so there's a lot of people and now a
lot of conversations happening and like, what are we doing?

Because remember back in like the nineties, when Kate Moss
was like this very thin, wayfish supermodel and everybody wanted
to look like that and it.

Was just she was so so thin.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Then I feel like and it's having that conversation with
body inclusivity and all of that.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
But now, all of a sudden, in the past six months.

Yes, that Kate Moss look is back, and nobody's saying anything.

Nobody's saying anything because now we don't talk about people's bodies. Curiously,
we just don't. We just let them live their lives,
you know. Kelly Osborne is one that is right exactly,
and Share Osborne have one that people are kind of
very concerned about because it's just very like skeletal looking.

I think we're in the there.

The general feeling in you know, on social media and online,
is that we just don't talk about people's bodies. We
don't make comments about them, whether they're too big, too small, whatever.
That's their choice, their body, their choice.

I just don't know what it's safe to talk about.

As a people, I think that it is. I don't
know the people are a plotting it. I think that
people are concerned. Emma Stone was one two that people
are like, oh my goodness, she's just frail. I think
for me, the bigger issue is why are these actresses
and actors feeling like they need to do that? Who
is where are they getting the pressure from? On the
other side? Is it producers as directors, is it their team?

Is it people saying you have to look this way
in order to work, in order to be relevant in
the business. That to me has always been the bigger issue.

Yeah, That's what I'm hitting at, is that the conversation
that people should be having.

Why does that pressure exist?

They definitely should. And it is people who are in
powerful positions who are pressuring them and making them feel
a certain way that they have to fit a certain
aesthetic to be relevant and be a working actor. And

So just think about that when these folks are up

So I think that we're going to see Sinner's name
called a lot. We're definitely going to see Jesse Buckley
for Hamnet. The best Actor race is kind of a
toss up, I think between Sinners and Oh, we're running

if you have not seen Train Dreams. Yet go and
see it, olix. It is a Best Picture nominee that

has not been getting nearly enough love.

This uh this year. It sounds like it's going to
make me cry.

It's a beautiful movie. It's it harkens back to like
like a like just a film. It's a beautiful film.
It's beautifully shot. Joel Edgerton is in it, and it
is based on a novella. Beautiful story, beautifully shot and
train dreams.

you like them?

You know, I like Conan O'Brien.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I feel like he has been one of those unproblematic,
you know, comedians for many, many years. I think he's
a great host. I think he has a very quirky
and unusual sense of humor that maybe doesn't always translate
in every setting. But I think he's pretty well loved
in the industry. And so yeah, he said he he
said he's gonna try some new things this year. So
we'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
I love it when that kind of a comedian, somebody
who's not necessarily in all of Hollywood right is up
on stage because it shines such a light on the
people who are so serious about their line of work.
And listen, take it seriously. When you're making your movie,
you're making a hamnet. Yeah that's not a laugh a day. No,
(11:46):
you're not gonna see a lot of bloopers had a hamnet.
But at the same time, when you're there celebrating and
having fun and having a party, relaxed, calm down, like
just give it a break for one night.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Serious side of your actory craft. I think some people
have a hard time doing that, you know. But I
think this year is going to be interesting because there's
a lot happening internationally, There's a lot happening politically. Conan
has always pretty much straight away from that kind of
humor and those kinds of things, unlike other you know,
talk show hosts and and that sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I think it'll be a good show. I think he's
gonna find a nice balance.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
What has he been up to, Well, he hosts his podcast.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
He actually has a pretty prolific podcast company with several podcasts,
popular podcasts underneath his team Coco I'm Around.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
It's his show.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Yeah, yeah, So I think he's gonna be great. What
time should I be tuned into the oscars?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I don't want like the pre red carpet, right, you
don't like that red carpet, but like the red carpet,
the actual red carpet, not the pre like E I
think remember remember like for hours. Yeah, sometimes even earlier.
The coverage usually starts around noon. You got you've got
outlets that are there live on the carpet around noon.
The show starts at five, so maybe for so four
(13:06):
o'clock you can tune in the local ABC station here
does on the red carpet. They do a really great
job of their coverage. I always kind of have mixed
feelings sometimes about the national people they bring in for
the main coverage. I'm like, who is this person? You're
probably gonna see a lot more influencers and TikTok TikToker
types or whatever. Then you normally would you know in
previous years, which I don't love, but yeah, I would say,
(13:28):
if you tune in around four thirty, you'll get a
little bit of fashion the people who are running late,
and then you'll get the start of the show, which
is always usually you know, the most fun part.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
A lot of hype for next weekends big movie which
is opening Project Hail Mary.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Yes with Ryan Gosling. Yes.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Wait, honest today I thought it was this movie is
it this weekend? Or oh my god, we can talk
about that next week.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
We can, but I just want to seen it ahead
of the red carpet.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
I know we're not supposed to say anything because it's
not nice either way, but I am concerned about Demi Moore.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I know, were just not saying anything about that. I know,
is that okay? Is that health?
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Like?
Speaker 3 (14:04):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (14:05):
There's a lot of actresses and actors right now who
are people believe are taking a lot of the GLP
ones and the weight loss drugs. Everybody's on ozebic, even
the people that don't need it, they're on the ozonic
and they're presenting as very thin, very very unhealthy looking.
And so there's a lot of people and now a
lot of conversations happening and like, what are we doing?
(14:26):
Because remember back in like the nineties, when Kate Moss
was like this very thin, wayfish supermodel and everybody wanted
to look like that and it.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Was just she was so so thin.
Speaker 1 (14:36):
Then I feel like and it's having that conversation with
body inclusivity and all of that.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
But now, all of a sudden, in the past six months.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yes, that Kate Moss look is back, and nobody's saying anything.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Nobody's saying anything because now we don't talk about people's bodies. Curiously,
we just don't. We just let them live their lives,
you know. Kelly Osborne is one that is right exactly,
and Share Osborne have one that people are kind of
very concerned about because it's just very like skeletal looking.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
I think we're in the there.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
The general feeling in you know, on social media and online,
is that we just don't talk about people's bodies. We
don't make comments about them, whether they're too big, too small, whatever.
That's their choice, their body, their choice.
Speaker 2 (15:19):

the Year of Our Lord twenty twenty six.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
I just don't know what it's safe to talk about.
I think you can talk about it. I just because
it is something that's.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
But our old thing about her showing up at the
whatever the last red carpet was, was it that sag
after it and almost like a black swan white swan
type of thing, and all the comments are she looks great,
look at Demi Moore and all the everything is lauding this,
and I'm sinking, look great. First of all, yes, and
(15:51):
also it's just are we applauding the Kate Moss aesthetic again?
Speaker 1 (15:56):
As a people, I think that it is. I don't
know the people are a plotting it. I think that
people are concerned. Emma Stone was one two that people
are like, oh my goodness, she's just frail. I think
for me, the bigger issue is why are these actresses
and actors feeling like they need to do that? Who
is where are they getting the pressure from? On the
other side? Is it producers as directors, is it their team?
(16:19):
Is it people saying you have to look this way
in order to work, in order to be relevant in
the business. That to me has always been the bigger issue.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Yeah, That's what I'm hitting at, is that the conversation
that people should be having.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Why does that pressure exist?
Speaker 1 (16:32):
They definitely should. And it is people who are in
powerful positions who are pressuring them and making them feel
a certain way that they have to fit a certain
aesthetic to be relevant and be a working actor. And
I hate that. Sunday noon, Sunday at noon, Kay if
I alive, that's right, We're going to talk to Indie
Wier Marcus Jacobs over at Indiewier. He's going to talk
