jay Z seven years to become an overnight sensation.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
I mean opponents are running through them like Skyline Hill.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Why are you?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
I don't understand Edmunds Tinkle table.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
This is actually going over the air.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
It is.
Speaker 4 (00:18):
I love to that car for me.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Let's go to work.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
That's fucking fun.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
You know, I'm winning Rome.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
He's gonna be rom call us. Let's fight about it.
That's there an call two four zero fifty. Now here's
John Ellis and Trade Polly Walnut's falcon.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Oh we got that trade day behind us yesterday where
the frenzy of the NFL trade deadline has come and gone.
And here we are live from the Ingles Studios downtown Greenville.
Welcome into another round of game on at you boy,
John Ellis at your boy trade Pauli waduts Falco. Let's
kick it off with a pair of questions of the day.
(01:25):
Why don't me? And these are so random you're gonna
love them. Here Questions of the day Brocky by Ingles Markets.
Number one, what would you rather have? Dabo Sweeney is
your NFL head coach? Or Bill Belichick is your college
head coach? Ooh, debate that for a minute, your heads kids.
And also you've heard the story about Tom Brady and
his dog. He cloned his dog apparently, Yeah, yeah, you
(01:47):
could clone one athlete right now and have him for
the remainder of time. Who would it be? Eight six
four two four zero five four eight zero? Who would
you clone? Like? What Steeler would you clone?
Speaker 6 (01:59):
So again, I'm well, there's two that immediately come to
mind for me and people.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:06):
Man, I've got a special place behart. If I could
just watch the bus run one more time, that would
be great for me. But also with the way this
defense is playing right now, if I could clone about
six Troy Polamalus and put them there on that defense,
I'd be very happy.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Wouldn't that fix everything? I think it would, wouldn't that?
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Although they looked better against the Colts, they did.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
They did a team that now owns the rights to
Sauce Gardner from that trade yesterday. Boy, there's been a
lot of movement in the NFL. If I had to
look at like cloning one player all time for the Panthers, Oh,
that's a tough one now, because you've got some studs
like Steve Smith. Would be great to have around Cam Newton.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Would you do Cam Newton?
Speaker 1 (02:46):
I think he'd be Newton. And here's why again eight
six four two four zero five four eight zero. Come
on in on the Eagles sideline and join the party here. Uh,
we're talking about cloning Uh an athlete from your favorite team,
you know, past or present. I would say past would
be better. You could bring him on back. Newton would
be a fascinating clone, yeah, you know, And I think
to have him back for one more round to see
(03:08):
if he could redeem himself from all the things that
happened from the original og Cam Newton, the Super Bowl
loss obviously being the biggest one, and the shoulder injury
that shortened his career just got me thinking, like all
these stories about Tom Brady cloning his dog, which is
a whole other What is it with analysts and their dogs?
Right now? I say, Brady's like, I got to get
(03:30):
this news out here. I've cloned my dog.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
I remember when that was a thing and I looked
into it just out of curiosity. It's expensive, Well, yeah,
you gotta have that.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
All of us broadcasters are very fortunate to be behind
the mike making anything done. What we do, it's a blessing.
It's a labor of love. But a Tom Brady contract
is where you can really have some fun.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
Clone your dog.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
You can clone yourself if you want. Oh hell no, no,
we don't need the Super Bowl Marry super Bowl eighty
nine quarterback for the Patriots. It's Tom Brady again on
the clone.
Speaker 7 (04:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
A lot going on in college football joining us later
in the show.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
All right, I'm trying to do that.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
It's a Steeler nation screaming no more cloning Brady.
Speaker 7 (04:21):
No.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Dalton Wasserman is going to stop in. It's six forty
tonight late in the show. Yeah, and he's going to
react to the college football playoff rankings and a little
sort of primer on what's coming up this week. I
believe it's week eleven in college football. That's hard to believe. Man,
we'll talk Clemson, We'll talk game Cocks with him. Dalton
Wasserman from Pro Football Focus coming up in about an
(04:43):
hour and thirty minutes or so. Let's head out to
the English sideline early on. Welcome into game on. How
you doing. Hello, you're on the air. How you doing?
Speaker 8 (04:54):
Hey doing great? How are you guys?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Good?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Who we got here?
Speaker 8 (04:58):
Awesome man, I'm Nate. I'm from Greenville and Greenville.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
What's happening, Bud?
Speaker 8 (05:03):
Not much, man, just hanging out with you guys in
this beautiful afternoon.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Brother. Awesome man. What you got on your mind today?
Speaker 8 (05:08):
Yeah, you guys were talking about cloning athletes. Man, I'd
have to pick Bo Jackson. Man, if you could just
keep them healthy and still have someone around the day
that plays baseball and football at such a high level. Yeah,
Bo Jackson will be to go to clone for sure.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Nate. That's a great one. And I always think about.
That's why I brought up Newton to a much lesser
degree with injuries. You want to bring those guys back
that maybe would have a more prolonged career both.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
Yeah, one of the.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Guys that we we just didn't see enough of. It's
a shame unless it's technical technible. He lives on.
Speaker 7 (05:38):
Right exakly.
Speaker 8 (05:39):
Just a shame he never made the Hall of Fame
in either sport though, because he was great at both,
but just short lived careers on both ends because injuries
just plagued him.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Man, absolutely, Nate, I love it, Man, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
For sure.
Speaker 8 (05:51):
Man, I just want to shout out to you guys. Man,
thanks so much for the company.
Speaker 9 (05:54):
Man.
Speaker 8 (05:54):
You guys walk on my ride home every afternoon. Man,
appreciate you all.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
Both.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
Love to hear it, Nate. Good to hear from you. Bud.
Make it a daily tradition, call us every single day
on the Ingles hotline two four zero five four eight zero.
So how we feeling about your Steelers right now? Midweek?
I mean, there's been kind of a quite a little here.
They didn't make any major trades at the deadline. The
Ravens added a pass rusher. I think that's how I
feel about the Panthers. Nobody really did anything big between
(06:19):
our two teams, but I'm feeling pretty good about where
we are right now.
Speaker 6 (06:22):
You know, And I think it was either Koboli or
Alan Saunders that came out because all the Steelers Nations.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Trade deadline sucked and you know, we didn't do anything.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
And they were like, well, Okay, if if the Steelers
had made the Kyle Dugger trade here at the trade
deadline today instead, would it be a win instead of
a loss.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
I know, looking for a count. If it's not on
the deadline day, it doesn't count Falco.
Speaker 6 (06:43):
I know they're all looking for a wide receiver, and
I get it, but I'm like, this offense is not
built to feed two prolific wide receivers.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Like, it's just not.
Speaker 6 (06:51):
It's not Aaron Rodgers threw to nine different receivers on
Sunday and one because he's distributing the ball, and that's
how they play.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
It's exactly right. And I think that that's what you
look at when you look at the Steelers and the
way they play ball. It's small ball in the passing game.
If you go out, I mean, Metcalf serves the purpose
He's not the most brisk route runner I've ever seen
block He's a great blocker, and that's the appeal for
this offense. Yeah, I think once the running game, if
it does get cooking a little more, that's the big
(07:18):
signal that this offense is fully humming.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
But even when they're one dimensional in the game like
they were the other day against a very good Colts defense,
they did enough in the passing game with the tight
ends withal.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
He was in there.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Do you see the stat about worsh when the ball, Yeah,
you like eight to zero all time when Darnel Washington
catches the football.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
They need to feed that man more. I would just.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
By default that would be the guy I look at
and say, okay, big number eighty, that big old sob
from George that we took. And he's basically a glorified
left tackle. Sometimes in this offense, give him one charity
touch a game and then you're guaranteed to win.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
Apparently, either you throw it up and it's it's way
up there, nobody else can touch it and he comes
down with it, or play up there and people have
to literally climb Mount Washington just to try to get
that ball and you draw a penalty.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
All right in the pad Mount Washington. He is indeed
this breaking news. Today we talked about what's going on
in Arizona with the Cardinals. Yeah, and we it indicated
at least our feelings that maybe this Monday night game
that you heard on the radio with us live on
Monday Night, many of you did who don't have YouTube TV,
(08:25):
we were giving you live updates on our show on
Monday night. I was of the mindset that, hey, there
might be a quarterback controversy in Arizona. There could be
a viable argument to be made the Jacoby Brissett, with
instructure of what they want to do, can operate this
offense at a higher level than Kyler Murray, who is
(08:48):
a great athlete, but boy, he's the helmet with legs
and he runs in circles and his leadership has been
questioned at times. Yeah, this just in about an hour ago.
The Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will go on IR as
he continues to rehab a foot injury he suffered in
Week five. That's according to the coach, Johnathan Gannon. The
injury is not season ending. Murray will have a chance
(09:08):
to return of his foot gets healthier again, and said,
I really do hope that happens. We've got a lot
of ball left to play, one day at a time,
and where he sits right now, he's got to pour
into his health bucket and get ready to get healthy.
I would say health bucket. I would say, the only
bucket he's interested in right now is that xbox xbox account.
(09:29):
Pour me some more money into my account.
Speaker 6 (09:33):
So when let me get a few weeks of Black
Ops seven and then then I'll come back in time for.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
The timing of it. As you mentioned yesterday, it's just pristine.
But it's to Kobe's job right now, and Murray can
come back week fourteen against the Rams. I do think
to a certain degree this is we talk about the
term soft benching. Yeah, like okay, well, this is maybe
their way of saying, Kyler, okay, you could come back sooner.
(10:03):
Just go ahead, take a few weeks off. We'll ride
with the Chacoby, ride the hot hand. Yes, get yourself right,
and then we will call you when we're ready for you.
Basically yeah. Otherwise no, it's Jacobe's job, and you can't
argue the results had been better of late in the
passing year, right, And that's.
Speaker 6 (10:18):
The that's the difficult part for it too, for me too,
like as a coach, like what do you do if
Brissette balls out and it really elevates this offense? Yeah,
now you're in a really awkward position, you know. Kyler
Murray's like, all right, I'm healthy.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I'm going to come back.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Sure you are, Bud.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
It's it's an interesting story. It's one to monitor in
the NFL. And we talked about all these trades that
went down, just to recap on the big ones that
went down yesterday. And and your point is salient tray,
I mean, and I think you mentioned Koboli and some
other reporters, Alan Saunders that brought up the fact that
teams out there and fans of teams where it's quiet
on trade day, there's a lot of whining and crying
(10:55):
out there. We need to do something. They did something,
they just didn't do it all the day you wanted
them to do it, but they already made their move
earlier in the trade exactly season there.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
And part of it is, you know, I hear I
keep saying, well, you should have went after Jacobe Meyers,
you should went.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
After Okay, what do you want. Do you want draft picks? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Or do you want a wide receiver right now? Do
you want a quarterback? I mean that's part of it too.
It seems to be everything points towards this front office,
Omar Kahn, everybody there at White l looking at it like, Okay,
we're gonna make a move this next draft, whether that's
a quarterback, whether they believe in a quarterback, or whether
they do something else with it. They are stocking up
on draft picks because they believe in something, and everything
(11:33):
that they're doing in the trade market feels like it's
pointing towards that way, even like a Kyle Duggart doesn't
mess with your comppicks right right exactly.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Compics are big. Here are the big six that happened yesterday,
Sauce Gardner, just to recap who got what here? The
Jets received two first round picks from the Colts and
next year and the year after those drafts, and wide
receiver ad Mitchell, who's got some talent, but his most
notable trade of this season is yeah, being one of
two players in the NFL that's dropped the ball short
(12:01):
of the goal line. He can't do it, can't do it,
so get out of here. We need sauce. Carter. You
go on and play with the Jets. That's your punishment.
By the way, do you see bres saw yesterday on Twitter? Yeah,
bries was like did the sad emoji? He had the
e moji of Craig Robinson behind He's like kind of
just wiping the windows there and it's peeking around the corner,
and then the fans are like retooting, saying, get your
(12:24):
ass and pads. You're playing the Browns this week. You're
a New York Jet Prieste.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
You know.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Breese was like waiting for that four o'clock deadline. He
wanted out, Please send me to Kansas City, Please send
me to a contender, and we can really make some
hay together. H Logan Wilson, as we talked about John,
uncle Jerry had to be active on trade Day. Oh, Len,
if we can't win on Monday night, we're gonna win
on Tuesday night and we're gonna get our Logan Wilson
(12:52):
from the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I've been talking about it a lot.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
And it was, I guess a little bit shrewd. The
fact that Logan Wilson used to be a defensive Captain
used to be the starter right in the middle for
the Bengals. Then he was benched a couple of weeks ago,
and that effectively plunged his value in the trade market.
To wear a seventh rounder, that's a bit of a
steal for unk Jerry. The other trade they made, which
I'm still trying to make sense of, Quinn Williams. The
(13:18):
Jets receive a second round pick in twenty twenty six,
a first round pick in twenty twenty seven, and Mozzie Smith. Yeah,
and then they get Quinn Williams. So what they're trying
to do here? I think the Carolina game was a
good indicator of this against Dallas, where their former running
back Rick o'dowell just ran through them like skyline to
talk about, and it put them in a situation where
(13:41):
they're starting to reimagine how they want to build that defense.
If you can have a you know, who's the guy
they got Grant from Green Bay? Kenny Grant?
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Oh, I know, talk about Kenny Clark.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Kenny Clark, Yeah, Kidy Grant. Who the hell's Kenny Grant?
Speaker 2 (13:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
That's a brain cramp.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
My mind immediately went The Browns is like you, Mason Graham.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
I think even the Browns wouldn't do that. Noh, Kennery Clark, Yeah,
and of course his his new mate there on the
defensive line, Quinn Williams. And then you stack it with
a guy who's been a Pro Bowl level backer and
Log Wilson right behind. I guess the thinking is, Okay,
we're going to not worry about the edge rushing. We're
not gonna worry about going to get Hendrickson because we
let Parsons walk. That wouldn't make much sense. Let's build
(14:24):
from within and that there's a big debate about whether
this is good or not for the Jets. And only
way we're gonna know this is in a few years.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
Yeah, see how those draft picks, who they draft and
whether it panzactly.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
The process seems sound. I get what they're thinking. I
get that Aaron Glynn comes from a long line of
people like Bill Parcell and get ready for a ride
or damn we'll do that. Comes from a long line
of people that believe, if you're gonna do it, do
it your way. Oh sure, evaluate what you got for
a few weeks, and then if you feel like you
know Sauce Gardner Quentin and Williams are not focal points
(14:57):
that need to be here. Then the p he shifts
to the draft, and obviously they've collected what six top
forty picks in the next two years.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
Seven I think seven, two first rounders, two second rounders
this coming draft in twenty six, and three first rounders
in twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
So that to me, I mean that that's insane the
amount of capital they got back for that. Now it
comes down to not only hitting home runs with those picks,
but how you coach and develop them and work around
whereas you know when you get a Quinn Williams, you're
getting a Pro Bowl level player immediately, Oh yeah, I'm
not going to play the game. Who won or lost
(15:35):
the trade? I think we tried to debate that yesterday,
But the more you think about it, nobody knows yet.
No in theory, the Jets being where they are right now,
if they kept Williams on that contract, kept Sauce on
that contract and they just keep moving forward with no
planet quarterback, Yeah, they're one in sevent team right now.
They're not going any lay him. Yeah, So there you go.
(15:55):
And that's part of the mindset is if they're not
winning with those guys, even though it's not their fault.
Let's do a full reset and let's stock But boy,
you better nail the draft because we talked about the
hit rate on some of these guys. Oh yeah, you
got it. What what if we come back and look
at that draft three years from now and only like
one of them hits. Oh if you like the anti
(16:15):
Cowboys from the nineties.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Well you could probably tell Aaron Glende put your seat
belts off.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
Yeah, and getting ready to put it around so long,
Maybe go back to coordinating a defense. Jacoby Myers, who
had the attention I think Steelers fans for a while. Yeah,
he goes from the Raiders to the Jags for a
fourth and sixth round pick. Logan Wilson. We talked about
that one. And the one that has got my attention
that we're not talking about at all is Rashid Chihat. Oh. Yeah,
(16:39):
going from the Saints fourth and fifth round picks. And
I'm gonna tell you something, Jackson Smith Injigba. Yes, who's
on pace for two thousand receiving yards. Right now, You've
got Cooper Cup coming back off injured reserve, now off
the injury list, and she heat is a burner, He's
reunited with Clint Kubiak, his former coordinator in the Orlean
(17:01):
That just that could put them over the top. And
I'm not saying the Seahawks is will do ceiling in
Florida today in the NFC talk about our expectations for
all these NFC teams coming down the stretch of the season.
I'm not saying it puts them in the super Bowl, right,
but damn that is exactly the kind of move they
needed to make. Their defense plays great match coverage, they're
all over people. You saw on that Monday night game
(17:22):
or believe it was Sunday night against the Commanders, how
good that defense is. And now Darnold, who's just been
back there throwing the pill comfortable with those two tight
ends second good. Yeah, Now you can sneak Shaheeda in there,
who can take the top off, and Jigma can run
everything underneath and still run those deep crossers. It's a
great addition and it really makes in my view, them
(17:43):
the favorite to win that division right now if everybody
stays healthy.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
Yeah, I don't disagree. And it's crazy because the Seahawks
almost made out like bandits. I saw Shahi got stocked
by TSA. They found a lave in his in his suitcase.
He's trying to sneak out of New Orleans and they
they wouldn't let that. He said, no, you're Saints, buddy.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
You're saying so many guys that won out let me
thinking that way. The suckiest feeling about trade deadline day
veterans is when you're on a mega cheeks team and
you look around and good players are leaving and you're
staying there. Now, granted you me, I've been paid. I
get it. I enjoy being paid money, thank you. But
(18:21):
I like being part of a winning operation. And now
a bunch of rookies are going to be starting in
the place of these guys. I've seen this happen, not
necessarily in season, but boy when the Panthers went through
this with some of their rebuilds, and there were some
veterans that held on, like from two thousand and ten
to twenty eleven where they bridge the gap from Jake
(18:43):
Delome to nothing. In twenty ten to Cam Newton, there
were some veterans that held on D'Angelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart,
Steve Smith, Jordan Gross and they had to suffer through
that what was a lame duck season right before the lockout,
where Jerry Richards and essentially decided we're going to cut
it down to the bare bone in terms of salary,
(19:04):
and we're going to make sure that we start whatever
cheapest quarterback we can find, Jimmy Clauson, Matt Moore. It
was a disaster. They won two games all year, but
it eventually paid off, but that was a rough year.
You think about the longevity of NFL players typically, and
this is why so many in my opinion, when Matt
Rule came to town. No, I'm not going to bash
Matt Rule today, but in general, a lot of guys
(19:26):
left the year before. Yeah, Keithley, greg Olsen, Ryan Khalil.
I think part of the reason probably was, I don't know,
jim Ron Rivera was sort of a steady coach and
now we're going into the wilderness with a new regime.
R That's tough, and that's what makes the run the
Steelers have been on impressive. Although the championships are lacking,
(19:47):
the playoff wins are lacking. Sure, they haven't had turnover
at the top, and maybe that's a bad thing. I
think overall, it's a good thing because at least if
you're a veteran on that team, on the Steelers, you know,
every single year you can bank on about nine to
ten wins at the floor level at the wine build on.
You should be able to build on. That should be
the next step. That's what they got to figure out.
(20:08):
So we'll see if this short term rental of Aaron
Rodgers pays off this year.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Hey, who knows, he might come back for another year.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
Maybe he will. You never know what that guy, Oh,
I know, it's always in the darkness. Maybe they'll clone him.
Speaking of which, Tom Brady cloned his dog. So we
popped the question to you today, if you could clone
one athlete from the past and let him have ado over,
who would it be? Eight six four two four zero
five four eight zero. Also, who would you rather have
Dabo Sweeney in the NFL as your head coach or
(20:37):
the Bill Belichick experience in the college game that we're
seeing right now. Who would be better? Who would ultimately
have the better three year run Dabo in the NFL
or Belichick going into the halfway point of his first
year as a college coach eight six four two four
zero five four eight zero. We are proudly sponsored by
your friends at Ingles Market's low prices, love the savings.
(20:58):
It's Game On. I'm John, That's th Ray and we're
back with much more after this show. Hey Upstate, John Ellis,
has you covered?
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Yeah, we got it Game on one oh four point
nine Fox Sports Upstate. Get in on the show at
two four zero fifty four eight.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
It's getting it done.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
When night's close outside, I'll assume you with you my.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
Give you my dog Suppri.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
With you live from the Hingles Studios downtown Greenville. Welcome
back into Game On. I hope you all are doing well.
Trey Paul Bonnuts Falco to my left, and I'm John Ellis.
It's great to be with you as always. On a
beautiful evening in the Upstate. A little unseasonably warm, if.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
I might add a little bit, yeah, like it was
cooler this morning and then I walked out, I was
like seventy five.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Ye know, I came down here early in a hoodie
and everything, and I'm getting the sweats here in the studio.
It's a beautiful day though, beautiful night. Come on and
join the party. Eight six four two four zero five
four eight zero. Our big question of the day is
as follows, and we'll just focus on this one for now.
If you could clone one athlete all time from the past,
(22:28):
who would it be? Just give them one more shot
and it's a one clone limit.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I had a loophole. Yeah, yeah, you.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Were talking during the break, like.
Speaker 6 (22:36):
Cam newtony broke his leg. Bring in Cam, there's another one.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Yeah, how many of these to have an all army
of Cam Newton's Who would you bring back from your
favorite team or any team and just clone him? As
Tom Brady has cloned his dog. Let's go all in
and then to fight all ethics and let's clone ourselves
an athlete. Jerry Choke. Dallas fans had a dealer.
Speaker 8 (22:59):
He's back.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
He's well, I'm back, fresh out of the womb. It's
a Benjamin Boss baby Boss and gas Baby, Orland Gas Baby.
You know, I've looked at the the stock prices of
my Orland Gas and I'm like to introduce you to, uh,
the next owner of the Dallas Cowboys, as I'm going
(23:23):
to step aside, Uh meet Jerry Jones.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
But the problem is Jerry's got the ego he could
even if it was Jerry Jones taking over for Jerry Jones.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
He couldn't stay out of the spotlight.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
He would, it'd still be a problem, that's right, until
he passes away if he handed it off to his
own clone baby Jerry.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
Hey, he's gonna still something to say.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
No, he's got a little pill I got a little pitched. Hey,
I'm glad to be here. My my, my predecessor Jerry
was big into Orland gas and now we we're gonna
win us and glory here. Did I say that? Right?
You can't call him ddy No, not. Stephen would be pissed,
Stephen and the other one for this Jerry Junior, Like, Hey,
(24:06):
I'm Jerry Junior. What the hell says? You don't clone yourself? Daddy? Well,
like you know, I trust myself more than anybody. This
is the damn closest thing I can find. Charlotte's timing
and what about need? You're doing fine, Charlotte. Jerry two
is gonna take Jerry too. J two. Oh, if you
(24:27):
could clone anybody, who would it be? In sports eight
six four two four zero five four eight zero. Let's
dare to go out to the Engles sideline. Welcome into
game on how you doing. Hello, you're on the Yeah,
what's go what's going on? Who we got here? Greg
from Honeypath, Greg from honey Apath, Welcome in, my man,
(24:48):
what's got on your mind?
Speaker 9 (24:50):
Well?
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Who?
Speaker 7 (24:51):
I would clone?
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Like Tim, I'm a Bears fan.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
Hey, we're out here.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Here, clone some more Bears fans.
Speaker 8 (25:03):
Yeah, yeah, But I would clone Mike Singletary.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Oh I love it. Oh Iron Mike in the middle.
Boy with those eyes, those daggers he.
Speaker 9 (25:16):
Was and the way he offense, yes.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Man, he was. He was do something. Greg. He was
so good in terms of his intimidation factor. And he
was one of those guys like kind of like Sam
Mills were his his you know, his measurables. Didn't like
knock you out, But boy he played with intense effort.
And that forty six defense, that Bear defense that Buddy
(25:41):
Ryan ran back in the day. It was such a
fascinating dynamic. And you, as a Bears fan know this,
as me, as just a nerd of football, knows this.
There were like two head coaches for that team. There
was dit go oh yeah, and there was Buddy. And
there were fights. I mean Buddy would sometimes Dicko would
walk into the defensive meeting room. Who was the head
coach By the way, Mike did go and Buddy Ryan
would like throw a chair at him. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (26:04):
Yeah, there was no love lost between those two.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
It was oh man, Mike. Mike Singletary is a great one.
He went on to try to be a head coach too,
and it didn't work out.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
I wish that would have went better, I know, but.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
He gets some great quotes. To some of his quotes,
it's good stuff. Greg Man's good here for you, Bud.
I been call more often out there in Honey a Pathpath?
How about that man? That's the first Honey a Path
called I believe bears fan and Honey a Path that's
Tim And then Greg, you can be a part of
(26:39):
the show as well. Eight six four two four zero
five four eight zero is the number uh Rico Dawdle
Carolina Panthers running back. That uh is a local guy
as well. Grew up in Gaffney. Oh yeah, I'm gonna
tell you something. He has been fined for the Key
and Peel celebration. The bigger news he missed practiced today
(27:01):
with a quad injury. Oh yeah, we'll keep an eye
on that. So Chuba Hubbard that's the good thing about
having two really good backs. Yeah, but the celebration on
Sunday was the mccringleberry. Yeah, two pumps. We're a reporter
asked him after the game x X the coach after
the game, Actually, hey, I need to check in with
(27:22):
Key and Peel on this, And then Dave Can was like, yeah,
I might need to call Kegan and make sure. And
Keegan's actually responded on social media like, Rico, I'm.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Sorry, I thought it was two pumps.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Well, the NFL today, It hasn't been announced officially on
the wire, but Rico Dawdlell tweeted out earlier that well,
let me get the exact quote here, starting a GoFundMe
laughing emoji. They got me, and they got me, they
got me, they got me. Oh man, And you see
the sleeper HQ account. I love this. Some of these
accounts to respond, They're gonna find you and use it
(27:54):
in a hype video, guaranteed you yep, yep. Somewhere down
the line promo on CBS coming up one pm Sunday,
it's the It's the Buffalo Bills led by so and
so and reco down.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yes exactly.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
It will rear. It's ugly head somewhere on one of
these networks. If if it shows up on ESPN or ABC,
you won't even see it if you have YouTube TV. Yeah,
that's been a struggle. We're getting late in the week here.
They still haven't resolved that.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
No, they have it.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
I'm still every time I log into YouTube tv a
little you cannot accident.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Yeah, disclimber.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I'll say, who to blame in that situation. I think
a lot of people right now, including the original Big
Cat from Barstool Sports.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Dan Katz has really come out against ESPN on this,
and this was my initial feeling on it. Here's his
quote from his podcast, ESPN is bleeping everyone because ESPN
has a new app. They also own who and Fubo
said big Cat on the rear there. Apparently it's according
to Big Cat, they're screwing over everyone who has cut
(29:06):
the cord and went to YouTube tv and it's just
bleeped up. It's bleeped up. It's obviously not a coincidence.
They just came out with their app and they're trying
to get everybody to pay thirty dollars a month for it,
and now this is happening. I haven't broken down and
paid a dime for any of this, and I refuse to.
But I'm getting a little bit weary because coming up Saturday,
(29:27):
you got another slate of college football games. Now I've
told you that we're.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Getting close the end of the season.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Two. I know why where you eat the most, and
that's the we got your buy.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
It's dirty and the only one that ends up losing
is the consumer.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
The consumer. Yeah, the public gets screwed out of this.
And that's that's the big rub of all of this.
When you get around to like there's literally we all
have our preferences as to what we watch as a
casual thing. Sometimes it's nice to turn on NFL Live.
We're in the England studios right now and we have
a different cable provider, so we've got PTI on right
now the background, and it's nice, you know, put that
(30:03):
stuff on just you know it's background noise or whatever. Yeah,
but really for me, it's Saturday and Monday. Those are
my must have ESPN Disney days right, got to have
it for college football because they own like eighty percent
of the great games that are going on throughout the week.
Plus college game day, which broke down and actually offered
(30:24):
it on McAfee's I believe Twitter account.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Right, yeah, yeah, yeah, they had some kind of alternate stream.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Yeah, and JJ Watt's the best man. He was on
McAfee today and he was ranting about I'm not I'm not,
I'm not doing it. You see him on Twitter, Yeah,
ranting a ou yeah yeah, and he's talking about how
you know you call me old man, but like I've
got an app that's supposed to give me that and
it's like I can't find it. Everything's recorded. I think
he's talking about the ESPN app. Yeah, but I think
(30:50):
somebody brought up the fact that, well, you haven't upgraded
to the new pricing match. It sucks. It's horrible. There
are some great games coming up this weekend. We'll give
you an eye idea of what to expect coming up
in one hour right at six forty, Dalton Wasserman from
PFF stops by. We'll get his take on maybe YouTube
TV take from him or too, but mostly the college
football playoff rankings, which we'll go over here in a
(31:12):
minute that came out last night. Not a lot of
surprises overall, and obviously we'll continue to play ceiling and
floor diving into the NFC. As we take a look
at all these teams, what's the best and worst case
scenario is. We are now heading into Week ten in
the National Football League. One more piece of breaking though. CJ.
Stroud will not play this week for the Texans. Got
(31:34):
the concussion. Davis Mills with the longest neck in football.
He's go google Davis Mills. I defive he's a diraffe.
He absolutely is a draft He'll be back there. The
Texans are calling an audible and going to Davis Mills.
A CJ. Strout continues to recover from a brutal injury
on Sunday. When are you laugh at it?
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Davis Mills?
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Now go look up, Mike Glennon. Do this before we
go to break Davis Mills. Mike Glennon, who has the
longer neck? Call us a two, four, five or eight zero.
Mike Glennon's dead. Yes, yeah, you see that. Wow. And
he's got the He's got like a Brian Dave bolt
head on top of it.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
It makes it look longer. I think it's an optical illusion.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
I know. I think the jawline makes the neck look longer.
Oh that's a lie. Forgot about Mike Glennon in c State. Great,
by the way, get this look at that? All right? Well,
heit a break, We'll come back. Take your calls. If
you could clone one athlete all time, who would it be?
Two four zero five four eight zero? Game on?
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Rolls on after this? This is game on on four
nine Fox or up stand get in on the show
four hit sup on Twitter at one four nine Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Dead nast time the first kick Douglas him.
Speaker 5 (33:09):
Dog, that's a.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Big, too much tess Man to cover.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
The US was.
Speaker 10 (33:21):
The US? Was the US? The US? The hot time,
damn snow setting up to the fe.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
To dog Hill, having a good time on this beautiful
evening in the Upstate. It's a hump day man. Halfway
through the week, it's game on. I'm John Unless that's
trade Paul Wallace, I'll go here for you as always.
The number is eight six four two four zero five
four eight zero. We're talking about cloning things. Obviously, Tom
(34:04):
Brady's in the news for cloning a dog. Yeah, so
let's uh dive into the murky world of cloning and
clone one athlete all time? Our coach, who would it be?
Two four zero five four eight zero. Let's go to
the Engles sideline. Welcome into game on.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
Hey cat doll ut.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
What's going on? Chad the vending machine? Kick? I clone
you man?
Speaker 3 (34:31):
We are here dealing coach and dropping dimes.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
You know the story, sir, what's going on? Man?
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Man, I'll tell you what. We clone. We don't clone. Intimidator.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
Man.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
We need another earn arm. We need a bad ass
out on the track and put the bumper on them
and show these how to run.
Speaker 11 (34:52):
A laft man.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
We need Dale back, We need them back, man. That
would be the perfect one. We haven't doven and NASCAR yet.
That would be the that would obviously be the one
with the the unfortunate tragic way in which it all
ended for Dale. Yeah, absolutely, I love it. We got
here cloning dogs with cloning Dale's.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Right man.
Speaker 8 (35:14):
Was back on the track.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Man. That would make me a happy camper.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Well, what do you think about Rico Dowdle getting fine today?
He got fined for the two pumps whatever it was.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Yeah, that must say charge.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
No word on that yet. I've been refreshing the NFL
wire in terms of it. He pretty much came out
and said it's unconfirmed. But he said, I'm starting to
go fund me. Sure wasn't cheap how much?
Speaker 4 (35:45):
I mean?
Speaker 3 (35:45):
I had the other players done it before and not
got fine?
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
It feels weird about stuff like this, like Frankie Luvu
is another story. Remember the former Panther No yeah, who
got fined and suspended for this hip drop tackle.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Oh yeah, tell that out.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
And apparently the NFL decided after further review, We're not
gonna suspend you for a game. We'll still take your money.
Well gladly to We'll take it right out of your check.
But they're weird on their penalties here recently, very weird.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
I don't know what the standard is for costs per
pump the celebration, like ten thousand per pump.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
We'll get the fine and divide by tea and then
we'll look.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
That's a good maths mathing. You better quit math and
that good.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
I ain't got an apple.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
You have a lot of apps on your phone that
help you do what you do in the pick'ms as
you're dombin. We're twenty games behind you right now.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
You's got to have an insider.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
There's no something going on. I don't know if you're
you and somebody from Vegas or frenzied. Yeah, you got
the inside track, my man. No build this bs about
your throwing darts and I'm just flipping a coin. Nonsense.
You have inside information, You're an insider, true it text furio, and.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
I'm just a good guess or big huh. I really
assumed y'all would be calling up on me and i'd
be about But now.
Speaker 7 (37:16):
That's the perfect y'all. I don't perfect day for a.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Show is good guessers, Welcome into good guessers. We just
we just out here guessing. What else is on your mind? Beginning?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Oh, man, I don't know. Don't burn that. I hope
they don't.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Don't see that. Have no Dabo got something out of
a system this week. He made some comments to the
media about the officiating. I don't see it happening. And
here here's a question I've got for you, though it's
one of her alternative questions of the day today. Who
would be better in a three year span, bellow check
in college, which we've seen a little bit right now,
(38:00):
or Dabo in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
That's a load of question. Yes, it's really gonna figure
out how to cheat for years.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Well, he's doing everything.
Speaker 6 (38:12):
But right now, Chad, how would you feel if.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Yeah, what if went to the Saints, how would you
be feeling about that?
Speaker 3 (38:20):
I don't know. I think it's been more like a
Nick Saban in Miami kind of deal. I don't think
he's a college coach through and through.
Speaker 7 (38:30):
Man.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
I don't think he getting away all the mostly millionaires
in the NFL like that. I don't think you would
be again, they might go in there and dominate, man,
I don't I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Yeah, I don't ever see that happening, Like, you know,
just to be honest with you, there's been speculation about
the future of this coach, and obviously my my feeling
is if something's going to change, he's going to get
another chance to, you know, move forward and reboot this
program and try to get it back to where they
have been. But he raised some points that were valid
in his press conference over you know, coaching firings mid season,
(39:06):
which we've seen an abundance up this year. Saban has
talked about it, and it's a new frontier right now,
and you know, you're gonna have down years, You're gonna
have years where it feels like that. Like I've said
from the beginning, what makes this I think much harder
for Clenchton fans to swallow this year is all the
losing is happening at home. That's been like sec over
(39:28):
the years, like Death Valley for the long ste time
has been like the sacred of sacred grounds there.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
But oh yeah, you about think of that valley. You
know them Tiger's gonna win. I mean, that's the way
it's van for years. But wow, not so much this year.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Man. Well, it's good to hear you voice. Chadwick. We'll
be here tomorrow to get you ready. We're making our
picks tomorrow. Maybe you can call in. Gonna be our
celebrity career like a.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Booger's big chap Man. When did got a whole d esa? Man,
it has been years since my dad passed, and I've
seen your opposed to beat your mom the other day
to her.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Man, appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
I just want to say, all the radio listeners out there,
hug you mom and daddy, give him a call, tell
me you love them, or whatever it is. They don't
they won't be here forever. Well, yeah, that's all I
gotta say.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Man, you have the best Chad, you too, buddy Jed. Yeah,
yesterday would have been my mom's seventieth birthday, which is
a weird intersection because I've yet to announce as we
are fifteen minutes into the show, andrellis happy birthday. Oh, yes,
happy birthday. That's seventeen for my boy. Oh it's a
big day.
Speaker 7 (40:38):
Man.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
He's been under the weather though. It's been kind of
a weird birthday because he was They had this two
day break from school. Election Day was yesterday, of course,
and they had a teacher work day in Spartanburg District
two on Monday, and he woke up yesterday morning like
just feeling like but like just feeling yeah, And so
he didn't have COVID or anything, no fever, but he
(40:59):
went on to school, came home, and he just crashed.
So I don't know how much celebrating we're doing tonight,
but we're gonna have some rest, We have a little fun,
get his favorite takeout, get a old cake action, and
have a good old time. I love you, son and Mom,
I miss you and thinking about you too. And Chad
well said, my friend, we'll hit a break, we'll come
back and start diving back into ceiling and floor. How
(41:20):
about that? Let's do it in the NFC. What's the
best and worst case scenario for each of these sixteen
teams and a very competitive conference? Right now, as we
are more than halfway through this NFL season, make it
slow down as Game On continues after the.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Game On with John Alice weekdays four to six, one
o four nine, Fox Sports up.
Speaker 5 (41:47):
State game.
Speaker 12 (42:04):
I'm talking about Ago.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
Ray for goot a lot of nice scales.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
I'm all in, I want to.
Speaker 1 (42:22):
I'm ready, yeah, man, Wednesday night, it's a good night
here with you live from the Ingle Studios downtown Green.
But we've got some good interaction on the phones today. Ready,
y'all are into this whole cloning idea as Tom Brady
has uh has cloned his dog Resking. The controversial question
out there, if you could clone one athlete all time,
who would it be? We've heard from Greg out there,
(42:46):
believe its Greg got in Honeypath and and his suggestion
was Mike Singletary I know so far. Another suggestion was
Dale Earnhardt from Chad the Vinning Machine. King. That's the
perfect one, man, and I don't all know d one
would love to see Dale again. One more ride and
then who's the other one that was brought up earlier
(43:07):
in the show. I'm trying it was a I don't
know we talked about Mine was Cam Dowton. Yeah, here's
I think was Paula Malou.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Paul malow would be great defense right.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
With that hair too. Another run of Head and Shoulders
commercials for that guy, speaking of which, you can get
yourself some head and shoulders in much much more. Stop
and see our friends at Ingles tonight. Low Prices love
the savings. The heavy covered for all you need for
the weekend ahead, and it's right around the corner. Low
Prices Love the savings. Check them out online at Ingles
dash markets dot com. Yeah, we are taking your nominations
(43:38):
for the athlete you would clone if you could go
back and do that. We told you about the news earlier. CJ.
Stroud will not play this weekend. Uh, they've got a
big game. We'll give you more details on who they're playing,
but he's out with that concussion. Kyler Murray has been
placed on injured reserve, so it's going to be for
the time being. The Jacoby Brissett Show. Who seems to
(43:59):
have a real good feel for this offense right now.
And it brings back the question about who has the
longest neck ever in sports? As Davis Mills will start
for the Texans. Yes, and he I think currently possesses
the longest neck in the NFL. Mike Glennon, who played
for years bounced around, has a long neck and it's,
(44:22):
like you mentioned, it's the ultimate skycam like having a
neck that long like Glennon. By the way, I think
Davis Mills both there's six six to begin with, and
then I say, I think of the I was already
gonna say, like, well, now there's six eight, six nine,
but they're they're six six because of their neck.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Yeah, they'd be six three otherwise.
Speaker 1 (44:43):
Tyler Murray's gotta be hating life. Like it's how nice
would it be? Bryce Young as well? How nice would
it be to see everything you guys see from way
up there? There's one picture of Dylan Gabriel there was
He was with Justin Herbert like, yes, looked like munch
getting munch getting.
Speaker 6 (45:02):
I saw a Steelers fan post on I think it
was Facebook. They they got a picture taken with Darnell Washington.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
Oh, oh my good.
Speaker 6 (45:10):
I don't know how tall the guy was and got
the picture, but Darnell, that is a big man, six
eight six seven six eight, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
They keep calling him three hundred pounds. I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
Yeah, they keep saying he's not three hundred pounds. Eighties,
not three hundred pounds. No, come on, that man is
all iron right there. Yeah, we're gonna come back into
the happy hour. If you're on hold, stay on hold.
We can give you more time to catch up with
us in a few short minutes. We also got Dalton
Wasson and coming up at six forty our regular spot
with him as we taught college football playoff rankings. Later
(45:40):
in the show, We're brought to you by Ingles game
On rolls on after this act for sure Stadium? Did
he have a nickname for the city?
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Heines Field?
Speaker 1 (45:48):
You gonna tell you, Miat Barston, what if we got
hit by truck man? I'm not taking CJ over the Holmes.
Let me tell you about Sam darm You could have
him right now for a bag of him and as
Philly's Philly. I'm just a dumb sports talker, but I
love part enough. John. Oh yeah, baby, the weight is over.
Speaker 7 (46:08):
I got Pure Rock team right now.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
I woke up.
Speaker 4 (46:10):
I'm ready finally something to argue about. That isn't your
co workers fantasy trade proposal or Bryce Young's height. It's
game on with John Ellis and Trade Paully Walnuts Falco
with wal De Wall NFL action all season long. I
am the new from first snap to final whistle. Rookies,
revenge games and questionable calls and absolutely zero patients for
(46:34):
your power rankings. Yeah, kirked Over, brought to you by Ingles,
Low Prices, Love the savings. Hit the phone lines at
two four zero fifty four eight. Let's talk some football.
Here's John Ellis.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
Yeah, man, we're officially into the evening hours now. It's
just after six o'clock. Coming to you live from the
Ingles Studios downtown Greenvillist John Ellis, It's Trade Paulli Wallceocko.
It is on having the best of time with you
on a football Wednesday, getting you set for uh, what's
going to be a big weekend in college football. I
hope you can watch some of it if you're a
YouTube TV subscriber. The indication right now seems to be
(47:12):
you're not going to be able to do that. It's
a Disney owned network. Out of luck. But uh, if
you got another subscribe to service, A good for you.
You're you're on track. The NFL is safe except for
Monday nights. If you're on YouTube TV and there's a
big weekend ahead, we'll do ceiling and floor for the
NFC coming up in a minute. Let's go out to
the Engles hot line. Bobby has been waiting patiently. What's
(47:34):
going on, my man?
Speaker 7 (47:36):
What's going on?
Speaker 2 (47:37):
Man?
Speaker 11 (47:38):
I'll answering your cloning question. I would well Larry Bird.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
Yeah, man to see him play today. Oh he could
do it too.
Speaker 11 (47:48):
Oh boy talking that crap to them. Yeah, couldn't handle it, Bobby.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
It's a great one, man. Of course, the question of
the day is talking about cloning.
Speaker 7 (47:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (47:57):
An athlete from days gone by is Tom Brady. He's
been cloning dogs apparently. Yeah. I think that's great. I
mean some of these names that are coming up, Mike Singletary,
we've talked about Dale Earnhardt and Larry Bird. I'd love
to see it Larry two point oh coming around knocking
down threes from the corner, playing that tenacious defense. Oh gosh,
I'd love to see it.
Speaker 11 (48:17):
Bobby, I'd love to see it too. And they answer
your other question, I don't I think Davo would do
better than uh than gonna do Yeah, in the college,
is gonna do better? Dabo would do better. In the NFL,
man would do better?
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Do better? Please let go now go do better for
a long time. What's think about Carolina fan? You have
Mike Shula on the outs, and that looks like Mike
Furry is gonna be calling plays down there in Columbia.
Speaker 11 (48:49):
Oh yeah, yeah, well, thank you, Thank goodness. I don't
ever want to see another play of the middle of
my life.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
Yeah, Mike, Mike had some years in Carolina with the
Panthers that it felt like that a little bit when played.
Speaker 11 (49:00):
Yeah yeah, I think you just said run up the middle,
run up the middle.
Speaker 1 (49:05):
He was pretty Hey, change had to happen, man, it's
the performance businesses we well know in our business, and
if you don't make those changes, you get left behind.
And then that's something I think, you know, Shane Biemer
had talked about on this very show. Uh, you know,
he's speaking longingly of Mike Schuler. But a lot can
happen in a couple of months in college football, and
I think it was just h It's not fair to
(49:26):
Leonora Sellers to not get a great evaluation on him.
I'm not saying he's been perfect, but man, remember when
Radler a couple of years ago couldn't set that back
foot and he was being pressured with the get out
there trying to run deep. And now it's the same
kind of thing.
Speaker 11 (49:39):
It's bad, man, it is, it is. And we we
just we kind of we gotta play better. We gotta
play better, and we need but we need better coaching.
And I like Baamer. I like Bamer. He's turned the
program around. So we we definitely got to get but
we got to get better. As far as our office coordinator,
we need better coordinators.
Speaker 1 (49:58):
Yeah, no doubt about all Right, Bobby's getting here from.
Speaker 7 (50:01):
Man you too, thank you be will here.
Speaker 1 (50:05):
He goes Bobby out there in the Upstate with the suggestion.
And this is the big question of the day, brought
to you by our friends at Eagles Markets to two
pack for you on a Wednesday. The first question is
that Tom Brady's ploning dogs. Apparently, if you could clone
an athlete all time, who would it be? Two four
zero five four eight zero, And speaking hypotheticals here kind
of show we do who would be better Dabo Swiney
(50:26):
in the NFL or Bill Belichick in college for a
three year span two four zero five four eight zero.
Speaker 6 (50:32):
You know, I'd like to see, like if they could
do really well in college coaching.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
Who's that?
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Pat Meyer? Just get him off the Steelers. Maybe you see.
Speaker 6 (50:39):
How he does with a you know, a college football line.
Maybe he could, he could go to Carolina.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
That's fine, bad Meyer.
Speaker 1 (50:49):
The ninety eight percent of you out there, they have
no idea who we're talking about. Pat Meyer is the
offensive line coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yeah, Pat was
also the offensive line coach in Carolina when Matt Rule
was here. So a lot of Panthers fans feel your
pain right now. Oh yeah, I'd like to go do this,
Go please, please go do that. For a while, he
brought a Matt Canada. I'd forgotten about all my Canada
(51:09):
Kenny Sellers, And yes, I did they do the hand
differential between the Leonora's hands and Kenny's.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
He could probably fit his whole hand Kenny's hand.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
No like Dornell Washington. Yeah, you're holding hand up to
Kenny Picketts my dwarf.
Speaker 6 (51:24):
A little bit of my favorite thing right now are
the Aaron Rodgers Darnell Washington push push, Just Aaron standing
back and he does it every time, and I love it.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Where the old man, old man at the toilet stands. Yeah, yeah,
old man at the ear and I'm gonna stand up
and demonstrated over though we have no visual element at
this date on this show, we will at some point
stand their hands on his hips about eight yards behind
where the accent's happening, which is Darnell just observing, no
(51:54):
need to even fake it. There's a thing like that
where Joe Flacco there there was a long time ago
and he's with the Ravens. The the fact that you've
got Flacco out there in the wildcat at receivers. Yeah,
he does nothing. He's literally the same thing. That's a
veteran movement. Yeah, it is like, look, I'm out of
(52:15):
the I'm out of the place you expect from me.
Two four zero five four eight zero. Let's back out
to the Ingles hotline. Welcome into game on.
Speaker 7 (52:24):
Trey and John.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
How you guys doing, Hey, what's.
Speaker 7 (52:29):
Up fellas you're doing?
Speaker 3 (52:33):
Man?
Speaker 7 (52:34):
You know what all things considered I'm doing pretty dog
gone well.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
Awesome, babe, good to hear it. What's on your mind today?
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (52:40):
Man, not not thrilled about the way that the game
went Sunday night, didn't run afternoon.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
I didn't want to bring it up.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Now.
Speaker 7 (52:46):
Hey, listen, you know what. Look, I figured we had
at least one more loss in the season, and that
was the one. Alright, Fine, I'm okay losing to Josh
Allen and the Bills. They're they're a fantastic team, and
they got the best of us again in the pre
in the in the regular season like they typically do.
And listen, when it comes to the postseason, we'll kick
their ass again and that'll be that.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
That's what it feels like. It almost feels like it
doesn't matter. It's inevitable. You're gonna be right there where
you need to be. Whether it's the seventh seed, whether
it's the four seed, whether it's the three or two seed,
You're gonna find your way into the tournament and they
will meet again. It's inevitable. It's in the damn script, Jay.
Speaker 7 (53:23):
I believe it. And you know, I mean hockey lye
can kiss my ass that. I mean, how you.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
How over here.
Speaker 7 (53:35):
Can I say that on the radio?
Speaker 1 (53:37):
Is that okay, you've already done it, turning back down?
I think you're safe.
Speaker 7 (53:43):
How do you how do you not get that call right?
I mean, even if it's not reviewable, okay, that's fine,
it's not reviewable. How does nobody, nobody on the on
that referee. How does nobody catch the th that that
ball was tipped? No?
Speaker 1 (54:01):
I know, look, and there have been calls like that
left and right this year, but that that's one that
sticks out and and I think it quiets down some
of the noises about well the officials are getting paid
by the chiefs.
Speaker 7 (54:12):
I mean, come on, yeah, I mean we can pull
stats all day long to proves that's not accurate. But
that's fine.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
I mean got him ready, Like, look.
Speaker 7 (54:21):
We could have played better and we would have won
the game. We didn't play better, So all right, that
one play didn't make or break the game. Sure, but
it pissed me off. So all right, I'll I'll jump
on Hockey's head. Uh well, hockeyly too.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
He's just like his old man. He takes forever to explain.
He loves hearing him, so he's like one of us.
He loves hearing himself talk. Right, he's like a radio
guy out there doing doing the calls, Like, let me
explain to you we have an issue here. It's holding,
and let me clarify why it's holding, because like, just
call it or Sean, I can't keep tracking father and son.
Yeah yeah, now I.
Speaker 7 (54:55):
Was sawing this time around. I mean, look, I don't
I don't think Ed's crew makes it mistake. I mean
I just dun't, you know. Yeah, look, I mean again,
it's it's one play. It's one call, and there was
a whole lot more that went wrong that, you know.
I mean, so all right, it is what it is.
I still to this point, I don't understand with twelve
(55:16):
seconds left and Pat mahomes on the floor, why on
earth you go, you know, hail Mary twice? I mean,
let the man play, you know, make a throw to
a receiver. Let that receiver make a play and or
get the heck out of bounds if they don't have space.
But all right, whatever, you know, I don't get to
(55:37):
call the plays. I think Andy mismanaged that one, or
you know, I mean somebody did anyway, whether it's him
or Naggy, I don't know. But on the line.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
I love how casually, Jay, I love how casually Andy's
able to go forward on fourth and seventeen Like it's
like a fight that.
Speaker 7 (55:53):
Was sick, that was that was safe.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
No thought was even given to the fact of punning,
even though strategically for a lot of tea means it's
what they would have done to try to make a stop.
Now fourth and seventeen minus side of the field. It's
like any of the team going forward on fourth and two, right,
because you got this wizardback here who passed for less
than fifty percent, but one of those completions was on
fourth and seventeen.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
It's crazy, all on the hand of your playmaker.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
Absolutely, I love it.
Speaker 7 (56:17):
That's it. That's that's and that's exactly why I hate
those last two calls at the end of the game.
You know, you got to put your ball, You got
to put the ball in the hands of your playmaker.
And you know Pat Mahomes throwing a hail Mary is
not fat so all right, and especially I mean two
in a row makes zero sense to me. But whatever,
you know you were talking about the uh, I'm going
(56:39):
to do them in reverse, okay, I mean I want to.
I'm going to talk about who I want to clone,
but first I got to say, you know, I think, honestly,
I think Gabbo goes way better in the NFL. Then
you know, the other way around with Belichick.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
College love it feel so far the sample side, all
we have to go on is this short sample size
from Belichick, which not only has not consisted of a
lot of vital wins, but has had all the other
garbage that goes along with it. I think Swiney would
have a better chance of success. I don't think he
ever goes that route, but I tend to agree with
you on that.
Speaker 7 (57:18):
No, I don't think he goes that route at all.
But at the same time, man, I mean, I believe
at this point that you know, Bill has proven that
he is who I always thought he was. You know,
he's an maybe above average, but he's an average head
coach who had an amazing talent in Tom Brady, you know,
I mean, and he mismanaged it every chance he could,
(57:41):
and Tom Brady bailed him out at every damn turn.
So now you're getting exactly what I thought you would
get from Bill Belichick, regardless you know, whether he's in
the NFL or the college level. As far as you know,
if Dabo were to go into the NFL, I think
Dabo can relate are two you know, guys that are
(58:02):
making the kind of money, and I mean he's he's
a much younger guy number one, So I mean, you know,
I think he relates a whole lot better potentially, you know,
making the move to the older guys as opposed to
go him back down like like what Belichick did. But
I mean again, I just I think Dabbo is a
much more talented coach period. And on top of that,
he's a decent human being. And Bill Belichick is a
(58:23):
is a scab. I mean, I've never I've never liked
the guy. I don't like his mentality. I don't like
the way he works. I don't like the way he talks.
I mean, there's just here, he is nothing about him
except for his wife that I like.
Speaker 1 (58:37):
You're on the record, man, I.
Speaker 7 (58:40):
Am, and I'm okay with that. As far as as
far as cloning, you know, I mean, the obvious answers
for a Chiefs fan. Are you know Derrick Thomas, Are
you know Joe Delaney? You know, give him another chance,
you know, to see what he would have done, and
you know that kind of a thing. I loved the
Mike Singleton answer. I think that is our Singletary. I
(59:01):
was Likery Singletary. I grew up in northern Illinois and
you know that was my era right there, you know,
So I mean I love that thought process. You know,
there's a few other guys. I mean, you know Elt,
I would love to see LT playing the game today.
I mean, as far as I'm concerned. You know, all
all chiefs buy us aside. I think LT is the
(59:24):
greatest linebacker we've ever seen. You know, I would love
to see a guy like that, with that kind of
motor and that kind of motivation. I'd love to see him.
I mean, that's a that's a Max Crosby kind of
I mean, I mean, I know, different position, I get it,
but I mean a different, different mentality, different timeline, the
whole nine yards. But you know, I mean, to me,
a guy with that kind of motor and that kind
(59:47):
of dedication to the game. I mean, again, get him
off the field, and you know he's another guy and
I get that, and I hate that for him, But
you know, look, addiction kills a lot of people, and
you know it doesn't kill everybody. So you know, I
mean lt I think would be my my top guy
right there, you know, I mean there's other guys out there.
(01:00:07):
I mean, I would love to see John Riggan's play.
I would love to see you know, you know what
would happen if we got a full uh career out
of a guy like Christian Okoye, you know, I mean
if he got and walked away. Hell, the love to
see that again.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
I mean, at the least specimen we have to play
you know, tech mobile to lift through these guys now
to be able to put on the field. I would
nominate him for the scariest eyeballs ever in football.
Speaker 7 (01:00:39):
It was that dude was just intense, intense, more easy. Yeah,
I mean, you just you don't want to mess with Hall.
I mean that was that was a bad son of
a gun, no question about it. You know, I'm not
a I'm not a big NASCAR guy, So I mean,
I I can appreciate the Aaron Hart you know idea,
but it wouldn't have come to me necessarily. You know.
(01:01:00):
One that's that's that's weird is really Stargel.
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:01:04):
I would love to see Willy Stargel, you know, playing again.
Or or you know, a Willy Stargel clone out there
doing this thing. You know, we mad so many guys.
But anyway, man, I just I had to call in
and take my lisp. I know, you know, we lost.
We lost, and that's the end of that.
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
But the new week, it's a new week. It's a
new U. I think it's a bye week, right, if
I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 7 (01:01:27):
It is. Yeah. So you know, look, we're we're coming
off the bye. We must beat the Broncos. I mean this,
I'm gonna call this a must win, not because you know,
not for our season necessarily, but to catch up and
to make a little bit of you know, way in
the in the a f C West. You know, this
is a must win. And Andy does not lose after
the bye, I mean, it just doesn't happen. So I
(01:01:49):
think we'll be in good shape. I believe we win
this game. And I got to tell you, I looked
through the the you know, the matchups the rest of
the way. I honest to god, man, I see us
potentially going, you know, undefeated the rest of the life.
I think it happens.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
You're on the record, I don't see that, but I
know they're going to be in the playoffs, and I
know once they get there, they in a damn team
that wants to face them. Nobody, nothing, no, no, that's
they'll be primed and ready. It's just that slow start.
You know, you've dug a hole there at zero and
two and now you're you know, that's part of it.
The Bills, they have their number in the regular season.
Let's see what happens in January. Yeah, we'll see them again.
Speaker 7 (01:02:27):
I'm curious. I'm just I'm curious who beats them? I mean,
who do you think in the in the regular season?
What game are you looking at?
Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
I think Denver presents a challenge. I mean they're they're
I think they're damn good right now, that would be
the one team I look at. I think they've got,
like Dallas is on the schedule, and I think that's
maybe Thanksgiving or Christmas. They don't worry me too much
because they're tinkering around with their roster right now. The Colts,
I don't know. Maybe that game is in Kansas City.
(01:02:56):
That feels like a game the Colts prior to Thanksgiving.
The November twenty third game go into a loud Rockets
environment that feels like a Danny Dimes downer game where
he gets he gets the full Spags treatment. He hasn't
seen that type of scheme yet, right, Yeah, no, it's viable.
They could do it. I think tenn suggested. Ten wins
(01:03:17):
to me is the absolute floor. But that still buys
you a playoff Berth in my opinion, and you're right
when you need to be. So maybe this is the year,
like a couple years ago, you got to just do
it on the road the hard way, right is the.
Speaker 7 (01:03:28):
I'm trying to remember. I don't know off the top
of my head. Is this is next week's game, the
Denver game. Is that at home or is that away?
Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
That's on the road, that's at mile High on the sixteenth.
Speaker 7 (01:03:36):
So that's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
That'd be beautiful, yeah, man, beautiful.
Speaker 7 (01:03:40):
Yeah, I mean coming off of a bye I mean, okay,
I would prefer it to be at home, because again
Andy doesn't lose after a vibe, and he doesn't lose
at home after a vibe. But you know, I mean,
if we get the Broncos after the buye away, then
when we get them at home, that's I mean again,
I think that's another win there. So yeah, I'm just
not too afraid of the Broncos right now. I mean
(01:04:00):
I know I should be. I know that's probably foolish,
but I just I feel safe there. I feel real safe,
especially with Nobosa with the Chargers game, so I mean,
I don't see a problem there.
Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
Either line has taken a total crap. I mean, they're
just everybody all and Slater out. They traded for Trevor
Penning to Yeah, yeah, that's an empty cupboard right now,
and hardball can scheme some things up, but no, I
look until otherwise noted. I have more faith, and it's
not a blind faith, but I have more just charity
(01:04:33):
faith in the Chiefs than I do in the Eagles.
On the other side, I feel like they're prime to
be where they need to be at the end of
the year, because every single year, where are they at
the last week of the playoff round? They're right there,
either at home or away in the AFC Championship Game.
More times than not they're advancing to the Super Bowl
and sometimes they end up winning it. So until that stops,
(01:04:54):
and to have one year where that is not the case,
I can't pick against them to do it again.
Speaker 7 (01:05:00):
Mention the offensive line, and I think that's a you know,
that's a solid point to bring up because you know,
on on the chief side of things with that, Joshua
Simmons is back. Yes, So I mean there's you know,
left tackle is solidified, you know, all right, Suli Matilla
whatever the hell you know, I don't know about I
don't know if he's going to be healthier or I think,
(01:05:21):
you know, I think that Trey comes back healthy at
the right guard side. Uh, you know, after the buy.
I think, you know, giving him that extra week lets
his back, you know, kind of relax a little bit.
I think he's back, you know. I mean, and it
pains me to say it that John Taylor has been
playing fairly penalty free.
Speaker 5 (01:05:38):
So I.
Speaker 6 (01:05:41):
Mean, you don't want to clone Juwan Taylor over the
book Tackles Forever and.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Trade them both.
Speaker 7 (01:05:52):
What I will do, I mean, as if we're talking
to cloning technology. I'll go in there and I'll crisper
his DNA right in half and make sure that we
take the you know, the good parts of Don Taylor.
We take all those damn you know, Emily's off of him.
I mean us figure that's.
Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
The line is Jay Jurassic Welcome to Jay Rassick Park.
Here's a good and we got to hit a break.
Speaker 5 (01:06:24):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
Let's catch up. Jay from Goodwill Industry is calling in
and he's a fine supporter of this mega mess of
a show we do every single day. Jay, appreciate you man.
We' hit a break, uh ceiling and four may have
to wait until the Marcus Dalton Wasserman's coming up in
about fifteen minutes. Here we're brought to you by Ingles
Low Prices, Love the Savings and we're back right after this.
Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
This is game on on one O four nine Fox
Sports substanct Get in on the show at two four
zero fifty eighty or hit us up on Twitter at
one O four nine Fox Sports.
Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
Zack Game.
Speaker 12 (01:07:11):
No, I'm talking about long ago, oh.
Speaker 5 (01:07:21):
Rain. We got a lot of nice scares.
Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
I'm having a good time here. Coming up on six thirty. Now,
it's John Ellis, it's Tree, pauli Wanat's falcon in his
game on two four zero five four eight zero. In
about ten minutes or so, we're gonna bring Dalton Wasserman
into the show to talk a little College football is
the college football playoff rankings are out right now. We
(01:07:51):
do have time for your calls, of course, two four
zero five four eight zero. What the hell? We got
a few minutes. Let's start some ceiling and floor if
you don't mind, let's head up to the NFC. Oh yeah,
we did the AFC yesterday, So ceiling and floor. The
idea of this game is, these two experts here decide
what's the best and worst case scenario for these NFL
teams down the stretch, and we'll get to as many
(01:08:12):
as we can over the next few minutes. Here's the
NFC for you right now. It's the Eagles. That's six
and two, five and one in the conference, and look
they're just cruising along tush, pushing their way to another
division title. I think the ceiling for this team. Look,
their formula is set, they know what they're doing. Their
defense has improved through the trade deadline. Ceiling is, let's say,
(01:08:33):
thirteen wins and the one seed and a trip back
to the super Bowl. Their floor maybe eleven wins and
a couple of playoff wins. Is a wild card participant,
but division champions. Nonetheless, I don't think anybody in that
division is going to win the NFC East.
Speaker 6 (01:08:48):
Yeah, no, I look at it and now I gotta
pull it up. I don't think so boring something extravagant. Yeah,
I tend to agree with that. Ceiling for me, trip
back to the super Bowl floor. Man, I don't know
eleven twelve like thinking, man like this team until prove
it otherwise that looking good?
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
I think.
Speaker 7 (01:09:06):
So.
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
I don't have as much trust in them as they
do with like the Chiefs, but still I think in
the NFC they're the standard bear, at least right now.
Not so much for the Dallas Cowboys or Jerry Uncle
Jerry making some trade deadline moves. As I said earlier, glory,
if I cannot win Monday night, I'm going to win Tuesday,
and I done did it. They're three to five and one.
(01:09:29):
They have had hard time on defense, top and anybody.
They've given up two hundred and seventy seven points. That's
the most in the conference minus fourteen point differential. Their
offense is suddenly a problem because Lamb and Pickings are
in there together yep, and they are not producing. The
Cardinals shut them down for the most part. Ceiling to
(01:09:50):
me is eight maybe nine wins, but no playoffs. The
floor feels like about seven, and I just I can't
put them in the playoff race right now. I can't.
Just I can't take this team seriously. I know they
just added Quinn Williams and Logan Wilson. Yeah, man, it's
good players, but it doesn't fix the central part of
what's the issue. The back end. The coverage right sucks. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:10:10):
I still stand by the most Cowboys record would be
eight eight and one.
Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
That's it. That's ceiling floor. It doesn't matter. They're gonna
be eight eight and.
Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
One, even glory starring Jerry Jones, the Commanders. The word
is Jaden Daniels. They're gonna see if he can play
some time this year, but it doesn't look like it's
gonna be anytime soon. Everybody's injured. They're three and six.
The ceiling feels like about seven wins right now for
this team. The floor feels like five. I mean, they're
(01:10:38):
just I like Dan Quinn, and they're still kind of
in a rebuilding process right now. I think that last
year's performance set the expectations way too high for a
lot of people. It's an old team, the oldest in
the NFL, and I just don't see them getting past
maybe seven maybe eight wins this year.
Speaker 6 (01:10:53):
Yeah, I for me, the ceiling feels about six or seven.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
It just I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:10:59):
I mean, granted, you had a banged up Jadon Daniels,
but this team all year, I feel like it has
been struggling a bit. Yeah, floor, I could see Yeah,
how about five fields?
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
Right, I could see him getting about two more.
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
Wins NFC North. Oh it's interesting out there green Bay
and out look.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
You don't care about the Giants.
Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
Oh, it's fine if I pulled a full Scataboos. Just now,
here's the outlook on the Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
That sounds about right.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
I totally bypassed them two and seven. There's no Scataboo,
there's no Molague neighbors. Jackson Dards out there running for
his life on island. Good football. Five is the ceiling.
Three would be the floor. I don't say six is
the ceiling.
Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
Four is the floor.
Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
I think they'll win a couple more games, but no
more than six. I would agree with that.
Speaker 6 (01:11:47):
My only coveyat they could probably get about seven or
eight if you put Jamison, Yes you could.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
There's some magic that can have. Look, I love Jackson
Dart and I think he's doing all right, but.
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
Put him on the field Jamison there, Yeah, put him
do the Aaron Rodgers to push hands the hands up
on the hips. Yeah. Right now we go to the
NFC nor Sorry Giants fans, we have you covered here.
Green Bay Packers. If you had asked me a week
ago about Green Bay, I would have had a vastly
different view on where they are. Although the week to
week nature of this league is very evident. This year
they're five to and one. They're still right there on
(01:12:16):
top of the division, but they were exposed a little bit.
You can run on this defense if you commit to
it still with Jordan Love, with some of the weapons
they have. They do lose Tucker Kraft for the year.
That's a big one. Yeah. Ceiling to me is twelve wins,
a division title, and maybe a playoff win and that's
about it. The floor is maybe ten wins. I could
(01:12:38):
see them having a bit of a backtrack here with
how they were exposed against Carolina.
Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
Yeah, I I don't know. I think you're weird about
the Packers. Like, maybe eleven wins is the ceiling.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
I feel like the floor though, could go down about nine. Oh,
Like I just I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
It's it's such a weird team, and especially with Michael Parsons,
you think you add him, you bring them on defense,
it's like, Okay, he's gonna be and he's a game closer. Yeah,
but like the rest of the game, it's like, Okay,
where's he at?
Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
Where's the oh he was nowhere to be found on Sunday. Yeah.
I think James will take that blueprint and they'll run
heavy against green Bay and they have a tough schedule ahead.
Detroit Lions, Dan Campbell Company.
Speaker 5 (01:13:17):
They're pisste right now. I woke up. I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
They're not supposed to be five and three, but here
they are. They're five and three, coming off a bad
loss to Minnesota, a game at home they probably should
have won based on Minnesota's deficiencies. I feel, as Serge
coming on from Detroit, I think the ceiling I'm going
to go as far as say thirteen wins. Uh, that
would they would have to like almost run the table
to get there. They'd have to lose one more game
(01:13:41):
and that's it. The floor would be about eleven wins.
But the big part of the ceiling is I still
think they can make the Super Bowl. I don't know
if they'll win it, but I think maybe the road
traveled this year will be a little harder early in
the season. I think they go on a tear in
the second half with them marrast Saint Brown with Sonica
Knuckles back here. The defense. The secondary has been banged up,
(01:14:01):
but they will get healthier. I think they're gonna win
the division. Honestly.
Speaker 6 (01:14:04):
Yeah, I'm a little bit of a Dan Cambell homer,
but I tend to agree. And you know, you keep
knocking on the door so many times. Come on, you
gotta break through. Kick it down, Dan, take it to
the super Bowl. Maybe you don't win it, but at
least get there.
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
Yeah, Chicago Bears. Shoutouts to our Bears fans out there,
including Greg who called in today in Honeytpath and Tim
is always a big Bears fan. They're five and three,
ceiling eleven, maybe ten eleven. Maybe they slip in the
back door of the wild card. I like them better
to do that than Minnesota right now, just based on
(01:14:36):
the fact I think Catob's a little better than McCarthy
in the passing game.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
I'd agree with that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
And I like Chicago's defense, although they had a hard
time in that game against Joe fo I do, like, yeah,
it's Joe Flacco. The floor would be like eight wins
if they just start getting banged up, and I think
maybe a wild card appearance, not a playoff win this year.
But that's where I've got their ceiling. Maybe ten wins,
they sink in the wild card and they lose in
the first round.
Speaker 6 (01:15:00):
Yeah, I mean it feels like Ben Johnson's got this
team cooking a little bit and kind of making up
for some of the deficiencies if you're gonna call them
that in the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Passing game there. Uh yeah, I mean I could see them.
Speaker 6 (01:15:09):
I could see them sneaking in at least there at
the end of the season, sniffing around at the very
end of it around you know, like that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
I could definitely see.
Speaker 6 (01:15:16):
The Bears team worst case scenario. Yeah, like maybe they
get a couple more wins, so yeah, about seven maybe, yeah,
about seven?
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Yeah, I could see it. Minnesota wraps up this edition
of Ceiling and Floor will do more tomorrow. Minnesota's four
and four right now. Now. McCarthy didn't play great, but
he played good enough to get the win. Their defense
has been very good of late, getting the sacks, getting
the pressures. I still think the ceiling for them, i'd
mirror wit I said about Chicago. Ten wins, maybe a
wild card berth. I don't think they'll win the division,
although they're only like a game and a half back
(01:15:47):
right now. I don't think McCarthy's going to be consistent
enough and their offensive lines banged up. I think they
go about ten wins as a ceiling, maybe a playoff
win maybe not. And I think the floor is maybe
eight wins. It's a tight squeeze there.
Speaker 6 (01:15:58):
Yeah, the big the big wild card is McCarthy, right, Like,
I just I don't know what to think about him
or where it because like it's kind of an up
and down sort of thing, which granted is kind of
his rookie season, so I'll get it. But yeah, I
mean I could see if if he balls out and
really kind of steps in this role, I can see
them going to the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
Absolutely, there's cling. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Oh sorry I was gonna say, but I mean all things.
Speaker 6 (01:16:18):
Like otherwise you got the very opposite end of that
where he comes in and he's completely overwhelmed. Oh, maybe
they win one more game and they end up with
five wins like I don't know see it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
I mean, look, he's looked overwhelmed at times in the
passing game. He's had to run around a lot and
make plays with his legs. We'll see if that's sustainable
for a team that's got major issues with pass protection
that is ceiling and floor. We've done half of the NFC.
We'll do the rest of it tomorrow. Coming up next,
we'll talk some college football with Dalton Wasserman from Pro
Football Focus. He'll join us on the Engles Hotline right
after this.
Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
This is game on one four nine Fox Sports. Some
stint get in on the show at two four zero
fifty four to eighty or hit us up on Twitter
at one o four to nine Fox Sports. Having a
good time on this Wednesday night in the Upstate.
Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
It's game on. I'm John Ellis. Were brought to you
by your good friends at Ingles Markets, Low Prices, love
the Savings. I've been talking NFL all day long today
and we've saved the little college football for you at
the end of this show. Joining us now you can
find him at Pro Football Focus, and he's the great
Dalton Wasserman who does a great job covering not just
college football, but all of football for PFF. What's going on?
(01:17:37):
Big game?
Speaker 8 (01:17:38):
Oh not much.
Speaker 9 (01:17:39):
Another great week in the books, ball to the NFL
in college looking forward to another good one.
Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Yeah, no doubt about it. And again you look at
what's happening right now in terms of the college football
playoff rankings. Did anything surprise you with the big reveal
last night?
Speaker 9 (01:17:52):
I think the only thing for me was just it
seemed like the committee is a little bit lower on
the acc maybe than I would be. And I know
there's been a lot of beating each other up in
that conference, and then to see Notre Dame up there
at number ten when they're one big win, really is
usc After those two early losses, I get the idea
that if they finished ten and two, they're probably going
to get in with especially as dominant as they are
on offense. But I thought, honestly they could have been
(01:18:14):
somewhere closer to the mid teams and then have to
earn their way to that with their last two wins.
Big game this week against Navy and then later on
against pitt who's not believing number twenty four right now.
So that's the one main thing I would say is
Notre Dame being a little higher than some of those
other ACC teams.
Speaker 1 (01:18:27):
Yeah, Notre Dame that it started today, they'd be at
BYU for a playoff matchup in the opening round, and
of course one through fours Ohio State, Indiana, Texas, A,
and m Alabama in that order. Dodd Wasserman PFF joins
a speaking of the ACC, I look at a team
like Miami, talk about missed opportunities and a tale of
two halves of a season so far with Carson Beck
(01:18:49):
playing such good football. The trenches had been a big
strength for Mario Christobal, that's his specialty. But the past
couple of games for Beck in particular up the nine
interceptions on the season, that's one of the disappointing stories
I think around college football. Unless you're a hater of Miami,
which I could care less. It's just been a disappointment
to watch them slide of late.
Speaker 9 (01:19:08):
No, I would agree. I think the offense just isn't
quite as explosive as they would want it to be.
And I think, you know, look, Carson Beck, I would say,
for probably ninety percent of this season has played very
good football, but it seems like he makes just that
big mistake right right when you don't need it, you know,
the Louisville game with multiple interceptions, and then this last
game against SMU, he was really good the entire game.
(01:19:28):
That was the first interception that wasn't even his fault,
but when they really needed him to make one more
throw with a turnover, bug kind of hits them again.
So I think obviously that was the issue last year
at Georgia's. They kind of come in spurts, and it's
hurt in Miami right now, and with where they're standing
right now in the rankings, I'm not sure a ten
and two record gets them in unless they get so,
you know, kind of some miracle work in the acc
to get back in the top two of the standings.
Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
Let's pivot back to some of the teams of interest
in South Carolina with Dalton Wasson and PFF dot Com.
Obviously Clemson. Look, there's a lot of conversation about the officiating.
That was a dicey call at the end of the
tough loss against Duke, But all the losing is happening
at home, and that's what amplifies the noise. I thing
not to mention the fact that I think the big team.
That is the big thing that's really plagued his team
(01:20:10):
this year is the back end, the coverages, the fact
they've had so many breakdowns. Just when you look at
this team, what do you see other than just that
that has just plagued them to a point now where
they're in the hole halfway through the season.
Speaker 9 (01:20:23):
I mean all year, it's been two things. I think
the secondary is a great call out for a unit
that we thought would be great and is just kind
of average to good right to considering especially all the
NFL talent they have on the back end and even
on the defensive line especially. The other thing two to
me that has been consistent is you know, they were
better in this game with Adam Randall running the ball
against Duke, but early on in the season just not
a consistent running game. The offensive line is not a
(01:20:45):
dominant unit despite all the experience that they have. So
it feels like, you know, any day like this week
against Duke feels like, Okay, it's a miracle that they
ran the football well, but they scored forty five points
and then found a way to lose. And I think
that's really what you're getting at now, is this is
a season where well, just everything's going wrong, Like that
call that you just mentioned, you just find a way
to lose a game, right now, By one point, you
found a way to lose to Georgia Tech. So not
(01:21:06):
only are they not playing their best football, but things
just seem to be working against them out of their control.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
Yeah, another home game coming up this weekend against Florida State.
That should be a fascinating watch. Dalton, let's look at
the game Cocks. Obviously we've talked about this team without
you know, giving anything away in terms of your perspective,
I would imagine that you're not too surprised that Mike
Schuler was released as the offensive coordinator. And it just
remains a shame that we can't really truly evaluate Lenora
(01:21:33):
Sailors like we thought we could this year.
Speaker 9 (01:21:35):
Yeah, I mean, the combination of the supporting cast really lacking.
We've talked about this offensive line before and the receivers
just being inconsistent, and then the play calling. Obviously, you know,
I thought last year the second half of the year,
they got some really good play calling that maximized everything
that they had on this team, but that you just
can't have an offense where your quarterback is just trying
to save every other flaw and that includes play calling.
Speaker 12 (01:21:55):
Right.
Speaker 9 (01:21:55):
There's other teams that with bad offensive lines or even
above blow average offensive lines that they find ways to
work around it and produce to some level. But it
just feels like when you watch this South Carolina team
that you know, scoring twenty points feels like a miracle
right now, right, And that's not what it should feel like,
even with some falls, especially when you have a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
That talented coming up on Week eleven in college football,
make it slow down, Dalton. As we look ahead to
the slate, what game jumps out of you in this
top twenty five that you'll be keeping the closest eye on.
Speaker 9 (01:22:24):
For me, it's the two teams near the top of
the Big twelve. You got BYU undefeated traveling down to
Texas Tech, two of the top ten teams in the country,
excellent defenses. You've got. It's some experience at quarterback on
the Texas Tech side, although not necessarily in big moments
like this, and a true freshman who's still undefeated in
bar Backmeier at BYU. I think BYU's got a major
tough task. Texas Tech front seven is one of the best,
(01:22:47):
if not the best, in the country this year. BYU
really wants to run the ball. We'll see if they
can match that level of physicality and another big step
for them on the road. If BYU wins this game,
they're basically locked into the Big twelve title game. But
Texas Tech is gonna have a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
To say about It should be a good weekend if
you're lucky enough to watch. If you're YouTube TV subscriber
like I am, you'll be scrambling to watch some of
these games. Dalton Wasserman will have you covered for it
at Pro Football Focus. It's always Dalton. It's great to
check in with you, man, and we'll keep an eye
on what happens this weekend as these college football rankings
continue to evolve.
Speaker 9 (01:23:17):
My men absolutely appreciate it, says Alway John.
Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
You two man. Dalton Wasserman. PFF dot Com does a
great job with our good buddy Max Chadwick and Trevor
Sikima and the whole crew up there, man, and they've
been under some fire. I mean, we talked with Dalton
a couple of weeks ago about when McAfee and JJ
Watt and some others had called out some of the
inconsistencies with PFF's grading scale. It's a great resource. You
(01:23:41):
just pop on in there to PFF. You got so
many great little nuggets you can find out about not
just the college game, but the NFL as well. It's
not just about the grades, it's about formations and setups.
So Dalton's one of the best in the business. Follow
him on Twitter at Dalton. PFF does a hell of
a job, really does. And there's some great games coming
up this weekend. I mean, look, you look at the
top twenty five matchups. Southern Cal hosting Northwestern that's on
(01:24:03):
Fox nine PM on Friday night. Indiana at Penn State.
That's a noon kickoff on Fox, noon kickoff on ESPN.
Georgia at Mississippi State. Maybe a trap game Gym. It's
eight and a half the spread right now, George's favored
by eight and a half. That's noon kickoff. The other
game that Dalton talked about, number seven BYU at Texas Tech.
(01:24:23):
That's also a noon kickoff on ABC on the Big
Ten network. Ohio State at Purdue. Ohio State is a
cool twenty nine and a half point favorite. Is Julian
saying right now, twenty three touchdowns, three interceptions on the year,
Ole miss hosting the Citadel this week. The Citadel is
four and five. That's on SEC Network plus Old miss
(01:24:43):
eight and one, rank sixth right now, three point thirty
on ABC Texas A and M at Missouri as Marcel
Reid right now seventeen touchdowns, six interceptions and the running
back Hardy from Missouri maybe the best in the country
right now, nine hundred and thirty seven yards on the ground,
eleven tuddies and we close game here. Missouri is tough
at home and with Hardy Tote in the rock, keep
(01:25:05):
an eye on that. Three thirty, ABC, three thirty on CBS.
Another big win in the Big Ten. Number nine Oregon
taking on the suddenly surging Iowa Hawkeys. That's right with
Dante Moore nineteen touchdowns, four interceptions or Oregon needs a
big statement win on the road. There are six and
a half point favorite three thirty CBS, three thirty, ESPN.
(01:25:26):
You got Syracuse who had the big win early this
season against Clemson but has had a hard time other
than that. They're one in five in the ACC traveling
to Miami to take on Carson Beck. We talked about
this Miami team earlier. It's essential they get off to
a good start. Although Syracuse is a twenty eight and
a half point underdog right now. Miami Syracuse three thirty,
ESPN number sixteen Van Toy, a team that took it
(01:25:49):
on the chin last week with Diego Pavia eighteen tuddies,
five interceptions. This season, they're hosting Auburn, who made a
coaching change of their own recently. They're only a six
and a half point favorite at home in Nashville, four
o'clock on the SEC Network on the Big Ten Network
at four thirty, he got number twenty three Washington against Wisconsin.
That's a four to thirty kickoff, Big ten Network. Wake
(01:26:09):
Forest at Virginia. This will be interesting now, does Tony
Elliott's team have truly what it takes to whether these
type of games? Wig Forest coming in at five and
three now, they're a six and a half point underdog
Virginia eight and one, five and zero in the conference.
Essential that they keep the train rolling right now. It's
fun to watch this Cavaliers team seven o'clock on ESPN.
You'll be able to catch that one. Also, ESPN two
(01:26:31):
has got you covered for Louisville, who's seven and one,
they're ranked fifteenth. They're, you know, sniffing around in this
college football playoff race hosting Cow twenty and a half
point spread right now in that game, that's seven o'clock
on the deuce. Alabama number four hosting LSU. No more
Brian Kelly at the moment and ty Simpson I meant
to ask Dalton this what a job I think kitaln
(01:26:52):
Bore has done, considering some of the scrutiny he was
under early in his tenured at Alabama. He bust out
the black hoodie and he can't lose in that thing.
There's seven one right now, they're five to zero in
the conference and ty Simpson twenty tutties one interception on
the season. They're hosting LSU seven thirty pm on ABC,
and then number ten Notre Dame. They're already up in
the top ten. Amazingly enough, they are hosting Navy on
(01:27:15):
NBC seven thirty pm. And we'll see what happens there.
Interesting things always happy when Navy comes to town. But
that defense at Coach Freeman's rolling out There'd be surprised
if Notre Dame doesn't take that game. And take control
of it when we come back. We will wrap up
this Wednesday edition of Game On right after this
