GameTime Cleveland 174: Just Call Him Flipper
October 23, 2013•41 min
The Browns were lousy on both sides of the ball as they fall to the injury-riddled Green Bay Packers. What will the Browns do with Weeden? The Buckeyes struggled to hold off Iowa but rode Carlos Hyde to a win at the Shoe. And the Cavs have a new look heading into the season. It's GameTime!
[UPDATE: We recorded this on Tuesday night before the Browns announced that Jason Campbell will start against Kansas City on Sunday.]

1Q: Browns-Packers Recap
Packers thump the Browns 31-13.
Green Bay had so many injuries, but the Browns were no match.
Gordan stunk and looked disinterested. Reports indicate the Browns have three offers for him, some including a high draft pick plus a player, but the Browns are not biting. Yet.
Defense couldn’t get to the opposing QB for the 2nd week in a row (Lions & Packers)
2Q: What Do You Do With Weeden
Hoyer showed how good QB play can make the team look drastically better.
Weeden has shown he’s not the answer. Even with Gordan, he still is a poor decision maker, can’t throw accurately inside the red zone, holds the ball too long, and makes the costly mistake when we need a comeback drive late in a game.
Hoyer’s done for the year. The team seems resistant to try Jason Campbell. So what options are left?
They’re apparently not looking for another QB this season. Now with injuries in Chicago and St. Louis, the pool of available guys is further diminished.
Can they stick with Weeden without destroying the clubhouse now that the team got a taste of winning?
A QB in the draft is inevitable. But there’s a lot of football left in 2013.
3Q: Buckeyes prepare for Iowa
The Hawkeyes put up a fight but lost to OSU 34-24.
Carlos Hyde is legit.
Braxton got his yards on the ground. But is that what OSU needs from its QB if it wants to play with the big boys in January?
The defense is the Achilles Heel of this squad. The offense will have to outscore their opponents (duh) but probably get out to earlier starts to crush any hopes the opponents may have of an upset. Don’t keep them hanging around.
The game never should have been this close.
What does this tell you about the Buckeyes (and the Big Ten) at this stage of the season?
4Q: Cavs Getting Ready
Interesting cast of characters that GM Chris Grant has assembled.
The budding superstar: Kyrie
The #1 Draft Pick: Anthony Bennett
Big newcomers: Andrew Bynum (has asthma and sleep apnea) and Jarret Jack
The returning vet: Anderson Verajao (can he stay healthy)
Improvement needed from some youngsters: Dion Waiters and Tristan Thompson
Can they take the next step and become a playoff team? Can the nucleus of top players stay healthy?
NBA GMs see improvement in the Cavs.
Cavs will retire Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ jersey this season. (franchise leader in games played, offensive and total rebounds, blocks, 2nd in scoring with 10,616 points)
