giant king cobra with expanded hood and hissing angrily, rises

Tom's hand drops his gon lars, and the confines of
(03:34):
the narrow passage, the heavy let bullet smashes into the
expanded hood of the cobra. The huge head drives harmlessly
over Donald's shoulder to strike the wall behind him convulsively,
writhing and twisting. The deadly serpent drops to the floor.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Tome steps quickly forward. Did it get you, Dano? Are
you all right?
Speaker 4 (03:51):

spread from my face. That was a marvelous shot. Munai jubu, mercy.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
It is nothing. Come, let us go on now.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
I only hope the noise does not bring all the
gods and our share down about our ears.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
There may be more of those cobrasier Toms, be careful.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
And we have no time for caution now, Dano. Then

they are there, Bremo byer. Here is the door, and
maybe they all seeing guide our footsteps.
Speaker 2 (04:47):

Speaker 4 (05:08):
But but it is built into the walls.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
How are we going to open the face the face
cavity behind the thing? If I can only remember which

it in. Get a large one. Orry, somebody is coming.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Put the disk on the bed and cover it with
those furs feet the first out.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
So leave it there that door tone to which we came,
We must close it if they find it open.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Here though behind this stone seat it will shield us
if they enter here. We are lost. Quiet now, can
neu sitan madu grasso de The guard is not coming in.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
Look she is going to the shry to gloat over
the diamond which is no longer there.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
And if we show ourselves she will call her guard.
She is opening this ride.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Meanwhile, Tarzan has left his tower chamber, closed the door,
and mounted a circular flight of stone. Steps to the
upper landing. Four bronze doors confront him. One of them
opens into the room in which Helen and Margret are confined. Unhesitatingly,
he moves to the first. A pressure of his hand
against the stone, the door swings slowly open. A quick
(07:26):
glance reveals an empty chamber. Closing the door, he goes
on to the next. It swings open to his touch, silent, grimly,
motionless as a statue.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
The ape Man stands.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Beside the opening. Abruptly, a tall hesse Herian steps noiselessly
out in the corridor.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
A bronze knife.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Flashes quickst thought, Tarzan catches the other the arm like
bands of steel the fingers of his free hand and
circle the man's throat. A long, silent moment they stands
so then the ape Man dropped the strength Hessei Harrii
inside the room. He closes the door and steps swiftly
to the third bottle. It opens at his touch. Alert Ready,
(08:11):
Tarzan stands.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Waiting, that's funny.
Speaker 9 (08:15):
The door opens and no one is there. Why it
looks like an invitation from heavens knows where for us
to leave you. Helen, do not go out.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
You may be another trap. You're wrong this time Margara
the sun? Why? Why? Dozen?
Speaker 9 (08:30):
How did you get there?
Speaker 10 (08:32):
Why we thought you was allowed our guards in the
tower wait, I closed the door, but Jera.
Speaker 9 (08:38):

sent to some kind of mind and.
Speaker 10 (08:42):

us we're going to no minds and you're not going
to be sacrificed.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
We're leaving our share a share? How doesn't when tonight
as soon as Tome and Darnal turn and Hakiru.
Speaker 9 (08:56):
Where are they gone? Are they free?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Thanks to Hakrou, we are are all free more or less.
Speaker 9 (09:01):
What I do not understand.
Speaker 10 (09:03):
Pame and Dono have gone after the father of diamonds,
a Cairu, after Helen's brother. We must have the diamond
to free him from that spell.
Speaker 9 (09:10):
He is under a Careo told us about the pocket
behind the diamond and the golden disk. Oh I hope he.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Will que someone is coming.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
In Tira's chamber, Tom and Dono crouched behind the great
stone seat and watch as the Queen, having dismissed her
guards and closed the door, approaches the Little Death's Head shrine.
As she places her hand on the opening stone, home
steps noiselessly from behind the bench, crosses the room swiftly
to pause directly behind the unsuspecting Tira. As the little
(10:00):
shrine door opens, she leans forward to peer into the
empty cavity. She straightens steps back into ourt on holmes
waiting arms. With a quick hand, he spoils her cry
of amazement.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
And fight, my queen, to that cry out again, I
shall twist that beautiful throat as quickly as HM.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
That is better. Now let us talk, as friend there,
come down on.
Speaker 9 (10:26):
Tom, well down, what sick you here in the chamber
of shows.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
We have already found that which we see God gracious Tira,
And this time you will not be given the opportunity
to break your word.
Speaker 9 (10:41):
Gerra has not broken her word.
Speaker 11 (10:43):
You were placed in the tower of the Sun, out
of reach of the Council of thirteen, until I could
have you all can played down a shadom.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Very considerate of you, Tira, but your deep interest in
our welfare is at the moment somewhat embarrassing.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Likewise your intention of entertaining us at your minds not
to mention the little matter of sacrificing Ellen, Gregory and Margaret,
what is your wish?
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Nothing, my queen, from you. We have that which we
came for. It remains for us only to leave you
to your much needed rest. We take with us the
father of diamonds. Damn, Tom, she is planning some new deviltry.
Speaker 9 (11:29):
And Tom fall down. If I put you all men
and women safely over the rim of to Embacco, will you.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Look out, Tom. She has a knife, Yes, she had
a knife. Fall down. I'm just call you.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
Such a tempty rye, and this knife of yours will
find it.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
She's in your wicked heart. We put her on that
couch and then find her with her own garments.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Yes, quickly, call may have aroused the god. If your
God center here now, it will mean your death.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Get quiet.
Speaker 5 (12:11):
We intend you no harm, but we also intend to
leave you in a position where you cannot harm us.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Wait this cloth, corn, it is rusty thing for her
hands and feet, and she.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Will have to be gagged.
Speaker 5 (12:23):
Tie that cord, type Donald, make sure if she should
get loose before we are out of this den of savages.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
M so, my good Tirah.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
By the time you free yourself from those sailors nuts,
donal head you up with now, don't hurry, come on,
open the door to the pitch. I can manage the
golden diskl parallel.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
But worry.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I'm glad you came with me. This is much heavier
than I expected. Help me through the door. M h
e Sorr. I'll close it.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Allor at least we are out of that chamber here.
Let me help now, Julu. But this thing is heavy,
as lead, said me.
Speaker 12 (13:13):
Heavy.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Long way to go back in the Tower of the Sun.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
In Helen's and Magra's chamber, Tarzan warns the young woman
to silence with a quick gesture and leaps behind the
door as it swings slowly open. Two armed hesse Harrians
advance into the chamber, their eyes on the young women.
As the heap man moves noiselessly out from his place
of concealment, one of the gods catches the movement from
(13:43):
the corner.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Of his eye.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
He turns, clips out his bronze sword, calls to his
companion Hi Hi.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
With his shout.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
He leaps forward, weapon up raised to strike Tarzan slips
under the blow, catches the guard by armam and waist,
lifts him high over his head, hurls him head foremost
against the wall. The second Hessi Harrion makes a rush
for the open door. Before he has taken three steps,
tars and catches it. The man's mouth opens, the shout
steely fingers deep into his throat. A moment later, the
(14:12):
man tosses the unconscious guard as Hi, come.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Mug helen. You've got to move fast. Now where do
we go out? Down these stairs? Fast? Never mind the noise?
Is there any more guards? I'll take care of them. Wait,
we'll close this door now, come on, cool, not time
to room?
Speaker 9 (14:29):
Do we meet here?
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Remind them they'll probably be waiting for us. It's a
snow car for all to meet.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
There those two gods back in our room. There are
they dead?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Done unconscious? They're not hurt. Here's the outer door. Just
a minute. I'll see if the street is cleared.
Speaker 9 (14:42):
But the door is ok.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Kru left it so when he and the other went
to the temple, all right, there isn't a soul in sight.
Come on, hurry here this way we're coming. Hurry, Margret,
come around that building ahead there and straight down the
street to the edge of the city. It's a long
run before.
Speaker 9 (15:00):
Before the ascents home. And Lieutenant on the.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Tower, one of those guards.
Speaker 11 (15:08):
He's raising me alarm, look at the no building beside
the tower.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Soon as they're pouring.
Speaker 12 (15:14):
Out of it.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
This day has not coming.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Back. In the secret passage leading from Tira's quarters Toom
and Donald stagger along under the weight of the Father
of Diamonds and its golden disc as swiftly as they can.
Howling past Cobra, they gained the dim, high vaulted corridor
of the temple. Hurry along it toward the little door
opening into the passage under the street.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Hello, so far, so good. Now if we only can
find that door. Are those voices coming this way? If
we are found, dear each the door.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
To the passage end of the sweet Soon they must
be closed. If we are not fasted. Yea, we have
come this war. We must win through before that crowd
beats us. The door is on your side, watch for it,
and may we Tom.
Speaker 4 (16:30):

this there is a cursed thing, is getting heavier with
each step.
Speaker 9 (16:41):
That's yeah, But the love of food the faster.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
If we are caught, it will mean worse than death.
Speaker 13 (16:49):
We cannot be far from that. There, just ahead on
your side the port long the militia of the door.
Speaker 4 (16:56):

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Ready, Yes, someone down through the dimolt passage.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Tome staggered with the diamond and disc upon his back,
Donald said him, helping when he can. They climbed a
narrow stone stairs at the end of the tunnel, and
the right at the bronze door in the outer wall
of the build into which hockey Ru brought them.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Let it down, Donald, we must rest me.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
We are breathing, Spabe, then we must we must completely.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
We still have a long way to go to reach
the sanut car to the end of the street. It
does and we're only he and I my friend. He
would pick that thing up as though it wore a
sack of feathers and run with it. This story is
in the outer wall of the house, right on the
street I shall open.
Speaker 14 (18:31):
Someone is at that door, coming behind that protection in
the world we.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Exactly leave him to me. You watch the door softly, Yeah,

Speaker 3 (19:15):
As the venerable white bearded Nichem approaches and is about
to pass the wall projection where Tom and Donna were concealed,
he pauses.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
His beady old.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
Eyes have caught a reflection from the golden disc leaning
against the wall at his feet.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
He steps forward to investigate.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Quietly, Tom moves out into his path, a grim smile
on his lips.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
I had an idea, must Tom, that you knew more
of all this than you led us to believe.
Speaker 2 (20:16):

familiar with the language. Why did you not let us know?
Speaker 5 (20:26):
No time for explanation, Now, my friend, you will go
into that later, find the old gentleman.

Speaker 4 (21:11):

learned the Tarzan's escape from the tower with Ellen and Margra, or.
Speaker 5 (21:17):

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Come back here, Donald, Donald, thinking only to delay the
hesse Harrian's long enough for his friends to mount the salute,
rushes up to meet the foremost guards. Several of them
browned him at once. He stands solidly, dashing out with
taste fists a grim smile on his lips. A huge
hesse Harrian leaps his back. The other swarm over both
men as they sink to the ground. With the yell
of warning, Tarzan s hangs forward through the help of
(23:49):
his friend. Eight man's progress is a huge hesse Harrian,
bronze sword upraised. Tarzan stoops, grasped the giant for the ankle,
and in one swift movement, winds the man round in
the air like marionette. The guards fall. Right and left
is the eighth man, with his human wark hub to
the path where Donald lies. He raises the heavy harry
(24:11):
and above his head and hurls him, pashing into the
faces of the coastly packed from Quickly he lifts the
Frenchman to his feet as they run to the salute.
The savage, heavy Harris polls in shiftly behind him. The
exhausted Donald stumbles whoa in postride, Tarzan catches him up,
rings into a broad shoulder, a final lead, and the
eighth Man's three hands draped the edge of the metal
(24:32):
car that tho the right of narrow quick with a
shriek a blinding metal, the salute begins simoon. Tarzan passes
his friend in the car a mighty bound, and the
eighth Man himself is shaved.

Yes, but he's still under the influence of that horrible Dan.
Speaker 12 (24:52):
What he's here?
Speaker 9 (24:53):
Hathi?
Speaker 15 (24:54):
Who comes?
Speaker 2 (24:54):
We thought we would have to leave without your Hakiu?
How did you get Gregory here?

the blue veils made from cloth of glass.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Whosoever wareth the.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Blue veil may gaze at the Father of diamonds and
remain untouched by its power.
Speaker 2 (25:34):

Speaker 3 (25:35):
Go on, Let each of thy friends, and thou, O Tarzan,
place a vel.
Speaker 2 (25:39):

Carved lotus leaf to the center of the golden disc,
press it. The disc will open. As Tarzan places his
hand on the delicately carved leaf, the yellow disc slides
open to reveal the glittering, dazzling effulgence of the great
gem through the blue veils. The little group gazes fall
into the unearthly brilliants. Now place thy hand the opening
(26:05):
behind the sacred gem, O Tarzan, and the apes Thou
wilt ivery file, take it and press again upon the
lotus leaf. Following Hakkeiru's instructions, Tarzan brings forth the small
white file, presses them to sleaf, and the discloses. He
may now remove the veils. Six drops of the liquid
from the file, O Tarzan, forced between the lips of
(26:26):
Brian Gregory, will roar to him his powers of animation.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Hold his head back on them. There he swallowed it.
Look his eyelids are moving.
Speaker 9 (26:38):
He's Brian, Brian, don't you know me?
Speaker 12 (26:43):
It's Helen Helen, you here, you tom My god Hoko.
Speaker 9 (26:54):
Yes, Brian, HeSE, we're all.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
What happened?
Speaker 2 (26:58):
That hellish diamond made me look into it without avail?
After that?
Speaker 12 (27:03):
I don't remember, Oh, dear, dear.
Speaker 9 (27:04):
Brian, don't think about it anymore.
Speaker 6 (27:06):
It was so long ago, long ago, yes, over a
year year, no, Helen, only last night, and I can't
remember after that.
Speaker 12 (27:20):
These two men who are.
Speaker 9 (27:22):
They, Tarzan of the Apes and Lieutenant Darno. They helped
me find a share and.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
You and father? Didn't he come with you?
Speaker 12 (27:31):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (27:31):
Yes he did? He he was killed back in the jungle.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Father, did you say? Yes? Brian Gregory killed in a
fight with natives. And you Tom you came for the
diamond after all?
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Eh?
Speaker 5 (27:47):
Yes, as I told you so long ago, the brain
can overcome all obstacles.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Descend from the salute. He will find the other car
on the outer rim.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Come.
Speaker 9 (28:00):
Are you able to walk alone?
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Brian? Perfectly?
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Helen. I feel as though I've been asleep. And now Tarzan,
thou who hast saved my life. I asked me to
keep die part of the agreement. Return to me the
father of diamond, that I may bring the attef Su
ten back to his rightful place on the throne of
the heasy hair.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
The golden disk is still in the car hackeou take it.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
We have what we came for.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Helen's brother. Wait, Tarzan, you have what you came for,
but not I. What do you mean, Brian Gregory meant
nothing to me, means nothing to me. Now The Father
of Diamonds was.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
And is everything. I came here for it, and I
shall leave only with it. No one can help me
but Tom.
Speaker 11 (28:43):
Please do not be ungrateful to Tarzan. Oh he knew
a very light island Magra. I want the gem as
much for you as for myself. Home the Father of
Diamonds goes back to wash with Hakku. I have given
my word, yielded the leadership to you, Tarzan.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
Back there in the Junger, I obeyed your directions, assisted
you and your friends to be where you are at
this moment. That and more I was willing to do
but keep up the Father Diamonds.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Never but Tom. We gave our word you perhaps, but
not I. You're all mad. Here is a wealth beyond
the king's ransom. You are willing to let it back
with his barbarian to lie.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
Useless in that marble casket, Tazan, we shall divide the
value of this stone in as many shares as you say,
Helen have brother.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Danno you home. I have given my word that diamond
is still in the car which brought us up here.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
As soon as we are down the outside, how Caro
will return the stone to washell.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
He will never do that, Tizan, not while I live.
And to stop your inter.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Tadan, Madra is it? She stepped between you as Tom fired.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
With the ferocity of a pantos. The ache man leaps
a tolle, strikes the gun from his hand. Iron fingers
wrapped themselves about his throat.
Speaker 9 (29:53):
A mighty arm.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
That's the helpless man.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
From the ground.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Shake, seem like a terrier, shake a rack Holme's hands strike, weep.
You will go to Tarzan, then drop limply as he
loses consciousness. Wait till Tarzan, wait, Do not kill him?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Why not? He deserves it.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Do not kill him, mighty Tarzan. Let me take him
back to a share. There he will find a punishment death. Say,
as Brian Gregory express.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Here, who is right? Tarzan?
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Let him out his wish. We must leave this place now.
Margaret is badly wounded.
Speaker 10 (30:23):
Right, Tom won't come to before you get back to
our share kaou take him with the diamond?
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Yes? How done? Hoddy?
Speaker 12 (30:32):
He coming?
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Dano coming byek good luck.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Farewell Tarzan at the eighth farewell.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
I wish I dnt know?
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Have you hurt?
Speaker 2 (30:41):
I'm afraid so, Gregory? Can you manage this car? Yeah?
Hand with then let's go swiftly as a bird.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
The car rushes to the foot of the volcano. Tarzan
looks tenderly at the burden in his arms.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Is she conscious? How? Yes?
Speaker 9 (31:00):
Her her eyes are open.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Door small? Do small? She is trying to speak here,
Let me hold her there there, Margara? Is that better
the the bullets Dozan?
Speaker 16 (31:19):
They did not.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Hurt you, No, Margaret, Why did you step in?
Speaker 9 (31:26):
She's weakening?
Speaker 4 (31:27):
Ellene?
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Perhaps it were better she did not try to talk.
Speaker 9 (31:30):
Now, I'm afraid it doesn't make much difference. Paul Brian
was right. Those wood wounds are fatal.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Why was I so stupid? I should have known that
Tom was desperate at my fault, dono. I knew he
was ready to kill, but I thought he wouldn't.
Speaker 9 (31:45):
She's trying to say something to you again, Tarzan.
Speaker 10 (31:48):
Tarzan are you right here, Margara, holding you in my arms.
Don't give up now you've been such a brave girl.
You'll be all right.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
Nor doesn't.
Speaker 6 (32:06):
This is the end.
Speaker 9 (32:10):
For Margra Helen?
Speaker 6 (32:17):
Can you.
Speaker 9 (32:22):
And Helen will be happy?
Speaker 15 (32:27):
I know, does'nes? The moon doesn't see it is so big,
so white. The savage face prophesied truly that wolf.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Lovesome.
Speaker 9 (32:54):
Then Tom.
Speaker 14 (32:57):
And now.
Speaker 16 (32:59):
My crab would die before the full of the moon. No, Margret, no,
here be the sun.
Speaker 15 (33:13):
This is the happiest moment of my life. I I
love you the sun, and I am glad to die, glad.
Speaker 9 (33:33):
Because only so would you ever hold me in your art?
What the moon?
Speaker 6 (33:49):
Where is it?
Speaker 9 (33:52):
It is getting so dark, so d But the sense.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Of welcome back, well, I thought.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
First of all, though the first.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Two parts were really really strongly paced. I love the
sort of split scene format where we were going back
and forth not between one action pack scene and one
more dialogue driven but two really suspenseful scenes, and then
(34:38):
bringing that together. It's such a great payoff for all
of the action and the way that the adventurers built
up and the way it pays off. I will admit
that when we're often talking about jungle justice or some
of the punishments in ages past or in and remote civilization.
(35:02):
There's usually something in me that goes, oh, that sounds
really harsh, But with a Kiro's plan for punishing wolf
I'm kind of like, okay, fair enough, Yeah, it is horrible,
but the fact is that Wolfe's greed is probably responsible
(35:23):
for nearly all the deaths. I don't think that you
can really blame him too much for Laursen's death, but
everyone else died as a result of his actions or
his grade. Notice the convenient omission as well that he
did with Brian Gregory in explaining, Oh, your father was
(35:46):
killed by natives? Oh really, Tom? And why were the
natives attacking? Would you care to share? Margra meets a
tragic end, but I think her journey through this story
did take a really logical process. I mean, she had
essentially spent this story in between Tarzan and Tom, but
(36:09):
ultimately makes her choice in the end.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
And it was interesting to hear.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Kdell play a much more tender take on Tarzan. And
to be fair, there's a reason why we haven't heard that,
as Tarzan wasn't present for most of the deaths, which
were relatively instantaneous. His reaction doesn't speak to any particular
(36:36):
romantic feelings. It shows a kinder, gentler side of the character,
and I think it works for the most part. If
I had one complaint about the story, and I don't
think it even really be a complaint, it's more of
a nitpick. A minor complaint is the whole Tom speaks
(37:00):
this ancient Egyptian thing and him keeping it from the group,
and him setting it up as this big thing, and
hardly anything happens to it. In towards the end, he
does have that encounter with the priest, but his use
of the language was kind of out of nowhere, and
(37:22):
it served no purpose since we'd established that the educated
and ruling classes and assuming and i'd assume the priest
as well, all already spoke English. So there was no
reason for it unless the writers were like, Okay, you
know that thing that we highlighted, Well, we're coming back
(37:43):
to it and we're showing it. Well what does he
do with it? He brings it back up and he
shows it, And I don't know, it may have been
a case where they were thinking of another direction of
the story and then they just kept coming up with
all these actions scenes, and it came down to you.
Now we can have Tarzan fighting pterodactyls, or we can
(38:06):
have Tome influencing the leaders through Macavellian machinations while speaking
ancient Egyptian. It's not hard to see what they chose.
