Tra le serie dell’universo Star Wars, Andor è quella che più ha sorpreso critica e pubblico, elevando il livello del racconto televisivo di fantascienza e firmando un nuovo canone per la narrazione seriale ‘adulta’ nel fortunato franchise di Guerre Stellari. Ideata da Tony Gilroy (già sceneggiatore di Rogue One e della saga cinematografica di Jason Bourne), la serie si compone di due stagioni (la prima uscita nel 2022, la seconda nel 2025, su Disney+).
Diego Luna è protagonista e produttore esecutivo, affiancato da uno straordinario cast internazionale che comprende lo svedese Stellan Skarsgård, Forest Whitaker, Ben Mendelssohn, Genevieve O’Reilly, Andy Serkis.
La trama ruota attorno alle origini di Cassian Andor, personaggio già visto in Rogue One (2016), di cui è co-protagonista: il film - seppur precedente - è la perfetta continuazione, nonché l’epilogo, della storia raccontata nella serie. Dal coinvolgimento accidentale di Cassian con la Resistenza alla sua graduale trasformazione in leader carismatico e consapevole, Andor racconta la nascita della Ribellione contro l’Impero. E lo fa dal punto di vista di chi vive ai margini, tra persecuzioni, ingiustizie e scelte talvolta impossibili.
