Il Gruppo Fincantieri, attraverso la sua controllata Isotta Fraschini Motori (IFM), ha inaugurato a Bari una nuova linea di produzione focalizzata sui sistemi a celle a combustibile a idrogeno. Questo investimento strategico, che ammonta a 30 milioni di euro in cinque anni, mira a rafforzare la posizione del gruppo nell'innovazione per la transizione energetica, con applicazioni sia in ambito civile che di difesa. La tecnologia sviluppata da IFM sarà impiegata in soluzioni navali e terrestri, come il modulo per la nave da crociera Viking Libra, la prima al mondo alimentata a idrogeno. L'iniziativa si inserisce in un impegno più ampio di Fincantieri per la sostenibilità e la decarbonizzazione del settore marittimo e dell'industria. L'obiettivo è consolidare la leadership industriale del gruppo nell'adozione di tecnologie pionieristiche e creare valore economico e occupazionale nel Sud Italia.
