Vera McEwen.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Returning. Returning is revival when you when you return, you
become God's vessel. This quarter of the year where we

(00:49):
are diving into the divine word of God, we've been
diving into the word as it relates to penitence, as
it relates to repentance. And we recognize that the word

(01:10):
in Hebrew shove, which means repentance, pentence, means a returning.
And this last month, as we walk through returning shoe repentance,
shoe penitence, we are sparking a revival of repentance. Turn

(01:37):
with me to Jeremiah. Jeremiah chapter three. The verses for
today are twelve through fourteen, and it's like a verse sandwich.
It begins with the word return. And here Jeremiah the

(02:01):
prophet is calling all the faithless, literally calling them faithless
and saying return. And in returning, he says, acknowledge who

(02:24):
you are, Acknowledge that you are guilty of sin, Acknowledge
that you don't treat one another the way you're supposed to,
that you don't acknowledge God the way you're supposed to
because you're faithless, acknowledge that you need to return and

(02:44):
choose to be in community with God and the believers
and the faithful return acknowledge, and it finishes with return again, shoove, acknowledge, shoove, return, repent,

(03:08):
turn back, and then at the very end it says
that God calls and chooses you specifically specifically to come
and dwell with God at Zion when you return, when

(03:30):
you acknowledge who you are, when you come back to
your faith, God calls you and chooses you specifically to
come and dwell with God. When you return, you become

(03:54):
God's vessel. Turn with me to Psalm one three. The
songs are in the center of your Bible. Some one
forty three is toward the end of the Psalms. If
Jeremiah is telling us to return, become faithful, acknowledge who

(04:17):
we are, return and become God's chosen, calling us to
live on Zion, then the Psalmist of one forty three
is telling us what to do as someone who is
called by God, someone who is chosen by God, someone

(04:37):
is in community with God, living with God daily. And
it's interesting that the Psalm begins with the faithless in
verse one, the faithless by saying, become faithful. Verse five

(05:02):
tells us, when we are faithful, to meditate on the
works of the Lord, to meditate on the Word, to
meditate on God's glorious creation, to meditate on the works
of the Lord. In verse nine, the Psalmist tells. In

(05:26):
verse eight, the Psalmist tells us to trust, to trust
in the Lord, and then it tells us something that
is so important. The Psalmist actually says in verse ten,

(05:48):
teach me. The Psalmist is telling us when we return,
acknowledge who we are, returning to God, chosen by God,
call to live on Zion with God, that we need
to be teachable, teach me, become teachable, and ending the

(06:16):
Psalm that says, then we.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Can bask in the unfailing love of our Lord, our
Lord who forgives us when we acknowledge who we.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Are, Our Lord who allows us to return and chooses us,
calls us to live with God when we trust, when
we are teachable, and basque in the unfailing love of God.

(06:49):
When you return, you become a vessel of God. RECOGNI
eyes that returning is revival. Turn with me to first Timothy.
First Timothy is in the very back of your book,
very bad, very bad. Keep turning, keep turning past the gospels, Yes,

(07:15):
toward revelation. First Timothy, Chapter one. We're honing in on
verses fifteen and sixteen. And this is so important to
recognize who we are. And I love that Timothy recognizes
who he is. It says, here here is a trust

(07:42):
worthy saying. Remember the soulness tells us to trust in
the works of God. This is one of the works
of God. Here is a trustworthy saying that does deserves
full acceptance. Christ Jesus came into this world to save you.

(08:12):
Christ Jesus came into this world to save me. Christ
Jesus came into this world to save us sinners. And
I love that Timothy says, of whom I am the worst,
I am the worst, But for that very reason I

(08:38):
was shown mercy, so that in me, the worst of sinners,
Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example
for those who would believe eve in him and receive

(09:05):
eternal life. When you return, you invoke God's immense patience.
When you return, you become a vessel of God. Returning

(09:28):
is revival. Turn with me to the luke Chapter five.
We're gonna hone in on those final verses thirty two
of the scripture reading. The scripture reading is twenty seven
through thirty two. Feel free to read that on your own. Jesus.

(09:55):
Jesus goes to the house of sinners, creates his table
there and calls the sinners. Calls the sinners to return,
like Jeremiah, returning knowledge who you are. Return to being
faithful so that you can be called by God, chosen

(10:18):
by God to dwell on Zion. As you meditate, trust,
become teachable, and bask in the unfailing love of God.
Recognizing that we are the worst of sinners, and yet.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
God, through immense patience, allows us to return, return and.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Be forgiven. Here Jesus is at the table and says
that he has called each and every one of the
sinners in the room. If you and I were in
that room, we would be one of those sinners, maybe
one of the worst. We are the worst. And Jesus

(11:19):
in verse thirty two says, I have come to call
sinners to repentance. When you return Jesus, Jesus lists.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
Breaches pulls you out of the muck the mire of
the world into into revival.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
When you return, you invoke his immense patience, and you
become called by Jesus Christ. You become a vessel of God.

(12:21):
It is Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost means fifty fiftieth day. We
celebrate on Pentecost Sunday, the fiftieth day or the forty
ninth day, depending of Jesus Christ's resurrection, of him being

(12:54):
raised from the dead, returning to us in rev returning
to us and filling us with the newness of life.
Pentecost is revival when you return, when you repent, you

(13:19):
become the vessel of God. Turn with me to Act
Chapter two. It is important to recognize when the word
is written even better than it can be rewritten or recomposed.

(13:44):
I'm reading from the New International Version speaking to Pentecost.
When the day of Pentecost came, it says Chapter two,
verse two of Acts. They were all together in one place,
all being the disciples together in one place. Suddenly suddenly

(14:10):
a sound like the blowing of a.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house
where they were sitting.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
They saw, they saw what seemed to be tongues of
fire that separated and came to rest on each one.

Speaker 7 (14:42):
Of them, all of them.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and
began to speak in tonguess as the spirit enabled them.
Now there were staying in Jerusalem, God fearing Jews from
every nation under heaven. When they heard the sound, a

(15:22):
crowd came together in bewilderment. Because each one of them
heard their own language being spoken pentecost Is revival, revival
of the returning to God. They were utterly amazed. They asked,

(15:53):
aren't all these who are speaking Galileans? How is it
that each of us hears them in our own native language? Parthians, Midies, Elamites,
residents of Mesopotamia, Judaea, Capaduccia, Pontus and Asia, Fregia and Pomphilia,

(16:20):
Egypt and parts of Libya near Syene, visitors from Rome,
both Jewish and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, we
hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues.

(16:45):
Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, what does this mean?
Some however, some however, made fun of them and said
they have had too much wine. Then Peter Peter stood

(17:11):
up with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd.
Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem,
let me explain. Listen, listen carefully to what I say.

(17:38):
These people are not drunk as you suppose. It's only
nine in the morning, fellow Israelites, listen to this. Jesus
of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you
by miracles, wonders and signs which God did among you

(18:02):
through him. As you yourselves know this man, this man,
this man, Jesus Christ, was handed over to you by
God's deliberate plan and fore knowledge. And you, you, with

(18:24):
the help of wicked men, put him to death by
nailing him to the cross. But God raised him from
the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because

(18:45):
it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.
God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are
all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God.

(19:09):
He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,
and has poured out what you now see has poured
out what you now hear. When the people heard this,

(19:30):
they were cut to the heart and said to Peter
and the other apostles, brothers, what shall we do. Peter replied,

(19:50):
Repent and be baptized. Every one of you. Every one
of you, repent and be baptized in the name of
Jesus Christ for your forgiveness of your sins, and you
you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The

(20:11):
promise is for you. The promise is for you, and
the promise is for your children. The promise, the promise

(20:34):
is for.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
All all who are far off, for all whom.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
The Lord of our God will call. With many other words,
he warned them, and he pleaded with them, save yourselves
from the corrupt generation. Those those who accepted his message

(21:10):
were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number.
Pentecost is revival when you when you return, you become

(21:36):
God's vessel of fire.

Speaker 8 (21:41):
God has called you, chose you to dwell with God
on Zion. God tells you meditate, trust, be teachable, best,
and my unfailing love.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
God tells you that even though you are the worst
of all sinners, you are saved through the living light
filled loving blood of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and Jesus
has called you to repent and be saved. Jesus has

(22:19):
called you to return. Returning is revival, and Pentecost is

(22:44):
revival when you when you return, you become God's vessel. Therefore,
repent and be saved. Me the peace of our Lord
