This episode is brought to you byHelger, South Coast Power Equipment, Thomas
Welding, Jendor Motorsports, Robinson's RaceParts and fab Hey Signs and Designs,
and Brandon's Meat Shop. He beatsit, you eat it. I don't
know what everybody. Everybody thoughts hereclass softer where we talked anything and everything
(00:21):
about racing from north to south atvarious shops. We go on as an
untouched, unedited and no bullshit.Any want to just go back to the
pit. Well, he fucked up. It's just my name as I don't
know. We got all these rulescues that we see on the track.
I've been waiting for this up here, even run you Wanning Oh for like
five years, laying inside of me. He's blaming me. Watch the movie
(00:45):
that day, Range jacket, OrangeJacket. I raised it just like you,
Joe Davis. Does I get it? For the wind? You can
talk to various drivers in their shopwhere they cut their teeth, blood their
blood and they make their name andthe sport that we love of short track
racing on a free back, relaxand grab a road soda and enjoying the
various drivers that we go and meetand now on with the show that's always
(01:08):
says every time, Oh, youknow, we should do this, we
should do that. You're scared, you're scared. How we doing everybody?
My name is Randy Phillips here ofthe Rough and Vetis podcast. So we've
been on a hiatus for a littlebit about two weeks. Again. Uh
so I started a new job,so now we work second shift, So
if I don't do it Sunday night, I have to wait until the next
(01:30):
Friday to do it and then shipcomes up and all that good stuff.
But we were supposed to do itlast night, but before work today this
is Monday, I'm doing it.Uh. Not a clue where the fuck
James ended up or anything like that. So uh, there's that. But
(01:51):
I mean the last couple of weekswe've saw a lot of race and action.
This past the weekend before and thenthis past weekend we had the Community
Bank one fifth the along with KenleyDean ken Squire, so the car show,
all that stuff. They had agreat I won't like a remembrance thing
(02:14):
they had like Dave Moody and abunch of people that worked with him and
all that stuff. So it wascool to hear the stories and listen to
the music and stuff and see allthe radical and awesome two tone cars that
we got to enjoy, a bunchof two tones, a bunch of like
throwback schemes uh that that were ondisplay for that for that whole car show
(02:38):
and all that stuff. So itwas a great time. I mean,
the weather was great infield was awesome. A lot of action throughout all the
races there. But glad to getback up there and see all the familiar
faces and and obviously uh talk withpeople like Brandon Gray uh and then Kyle
(03:01):
Kyle Streeter, the d m RBoys, Wheatley and all that stuff.
So big shout out to Wheatlee alsoU he came on board to sponsor our
weekend up at thunder Road, sowe appreciate him. If you guys are
in the need of getting a newclass glass, not class, I mean
(03:23):
you can try to get class, but new glass, make sure you guys
go over and check out see ClearAuto Glass on Facebook. They have a
number and let me just find thatreal quick because we're unprepared, but we're
trying to do this before we goto work, so you guys have something
(03:44):
to enjoy while we are working overnightsand you guys get to enjoy your day
and listen to us blah blah aboutbullshit, you know what I mean.
Nonetheless, Uh, like I said, thunder Road was beautiful. Well,
we'll go back to next week lastweek after we get through all this.
(04:09):
But if you guys are in theneed of glass that doesn't have to deal
with the house, definitely check outsee Clear Auto Glass. They're located in
Vermont, great people around. LikeI said, Tyler Wheatley and his dad
run it. And if you guysdon't need anything that needs to be done,
give him a call at eight zerotwo two eight one five eight eight
(04:31):
two for all your automotive glass needs. And that goes from heavy equipment to
even custom flat glass for your hotrod at home. But you get the
point. We appreciate you Tyler andKevin Keveler as we said many of times
because they didn't know who was racingWatt. But the Wheaties car looked beautiful
(04:54):
as well. But like I said, we went up there, we had
a we had a ball, likeI said, Uh, trying to remember
it because we got home at fuck. I think it was like midnight by
the time we got home. Butafter after the memorial and all that stuff,
(05:15):
and like five thirty heat started, but they went quick. By the
time I was trying to like postsomething to the Facebook page, they were
already rolling out the next the nextlike heat race and they're already going green,
and I'm like, fuck, Iwas like, I don't have any
I don't have any time right now. I was like, I was like,
Kyrie, you continue to take photos. I'm just trying to do this
(05:36):
over here. Don't worry about me, you know what I mean. But
yeah, No, it was agreat day, a beautiful day, especially
with rain in the forecast that hadit Sunday, so it switched to Saturday,
which we were very thankful for thatwe have that we had that extra
day to recoup because I'll never mindgoing up to thunder Road, but it
(05:59):
is a haul, it is toohours. It is two hours for us,
but we will never mind going upthere and enjoying the action because it's
a beautiful facility. From from theracers to the fans, to the to
the workers to the place itself,it's just beautiful, top notch, all
up and down. And we hada blast we had a we had a
bunch of fun out there doing thatstuff. But yeah, so the first
(06:27):
race, if I can remember, was the Road Warriors for feature time,
and uh it was it was agreat It was a great race. I
think they had limited cautions h forthis for for the race. Nonetheless,
our buddy Trevor Jakes, we gotto go and meet him at the car
(06:49):
show. Finally he had his littlemilk Bowl Mini Milk Bowl trophy, holding
candy and all that stuff. Hewas shaking kids and signing hands and it
was great to time. But hepicked up the wind for the the RK
miles street stocks up there. Ithink the biggest mover was Jeffrey Martin going
(07:13):
from sixteenth to fourth, and hesaid he quit racing, but now he's
a sub driver. I don't knowwhat's going on. Casey Collins had to
go and do a dance recital orsomething. He had to go do the
Chachhause slide or whatever it was,but obviously with his daughters and then so
Jeffrey jumped in the car and hehad the wheelbar and going practice and then
(07:33):
they fixed it all together and Jeffreydidn't lose a step in a street Stock.
He went from sixteenth to fourth. So that's a hell of a run
being in a being a sub driverin a car that he doesn't know pretty
much, or he might have boughtit, built it. I mean,
so who knows, you know.Flying Tiger feature Crystal Forest ten out of
(07:59):
ten. Paint scheme absolutely will alwaysbe a sucker for old style body panels
and old style paint. He haschecker flag going up, going down the
bottom of that and then it rollsup. We put up a picture and
all that stuff. Beautiful car, beautiful, beautiful tiger. He led most
(08:20):
of the race until Brandon Gray finallygot past Sam Karen and pretty much tracked
him down from I think a corneraway. To be honest with you,
but Chris had a great race.He was running it well. Long time
coming for a podium for Chris,as he said in his interview, So
it was awesome. That car isbeautiful. Brandon Gray right back to his
(08:45):
winning ways that he had last yearthat at White Mountain and Thunder Road.
He's just he's just on it withthat car. He's doing pretty well there.
So congrats to Brandon. Crystal Forestcame in second. Sam Karen so
congrats to uh Brinnan. It wasgreat to see him as well. It's
(09:07):
been a whole off season since wesee uh BG double zero. Uh and
the booze were definitely still there atthunder Road, which we love to hear.
Uh as long as they're cheering orboo and they know you that you're
doing something, so uh we justwe just go on and uh he said
he loved them. So. Sothe A C. T race was uh
(09:31):
pretty good. Uh A couple ofcautions at the beginning. Uh self,
spin's flat tires, stop, let'sthrow a caution. And then uh they
had a good amount of uh greenflag laps where they like stretched out and
uh got their pace and just neededto do what they needed to do.
(09:54):
And uh there was a caution thatcame out uh for I want to say
it was I want to say itwas Jason Corliss. I'm trying to remember
my numbers here. Yeah, itwas so Jason Corliss. Uh he spun
(10:18):
through the infield, so there wasa caution. Uh, but that's that's
really when the I'd say the candlewas lit. So you had Marcel Gravell,
Jimmy Hebert and uh Derek O'Donnell allracing for the top spot, and
uh they had a couple of cautionsin between there, but I can't remember.
(10:39):
That was just the big one,I know, I know, Uh
Sean Swallow got uh turned around andthen he went and stopped in front of
Alexandre Uh Alexandre Alexander Tarde. Fthere we go, Jesus and like the
(11:00):
like clamp the brakes because yeah, you got spun. But there's a couple
of those things. And then likethat's usually when I mean, that's not
that's when the candle was pretty muchlit for the race there for for the
for the Big Crown Jewel Community Bankone fifty. So, like I said,
Derek O'Donnell and Jimmy Heabert and MarcelGravel, they were all racing uh
(11:26):
four obviously the wind top three couldbarely put a piece of paper in between
them. You could throw a blanketover him, as they say, I
mean for for after the last restartbefore obviously everybody's seen on flow shit happened.
They were literally like right there togetherthe whole time. They were rubbing
(11:48):
and making sure they can keeping eachother at bay and all that stuff.
And usually when you push the issue, the bottom usually starts to fall out,
and that's pretty much much what happened. Obviously. Marcel threw it in
there, and I think it wasa racing deal honestly. I mean the
worst person that got out of thatwas Derek O'Donnell. That was just like
(12:11):
hanging there. But he was stilltrying to be there because thunder road it's
all about momentum and keeping keeping yourpace. So you stay with where you
need to be, fall off andyou change something up a little bit,
you're just gonna lose what you're tryingto do there. So he was lying
in the wait for obviously whatever wasgoing to transpire between Jimmy Heabert and Marcel
(12:31):
Gravell, who were racing pretty hard. I mean I took my phone out,
honestly because I saw them and asa racer once you see people like
really using up their stuff to keepthe position because that's race and that's what
we love to do and all thatstuff. But shit does happen, and
that's what it is. It wasjust it was I knew it. I
(12:54):
knew it was coming. It waseither they were going to figure it out
and someone was going to get thedrive off and the the one was going
to lose the front nose off ofthe corner and obviously pull away, and
then that's what it is. Hetried his best luck at it, you
guys know what I mean, Likeyou're trying your best and then your your
equipment gives up and then the guy'sstill pulling away. So uh, but
(13:16):
like I said, Marcel threw itinto three and obviously the right front didn't
like it anymore and skated the noseup, grabbed Jimmy, and then Derek
went for a went for a fiftyto fifty grind on the turn on the
turn three wall, and then obviouslythe car's caught on fire too as well.
And there's a bunch of and Iand everybody's good for their opinion,
(13:41):
you know what I mean. I'llnever I'll never like go against someone's opinion.
I'll read it and that's about it. I mean, I have my
own opinion. That's why we doa podcast, That's why we've been doing
this for three years. We haveour own opinion on stuff. To me,
it looked like a racing deal frommy vanish point. Uh, Marcel's
(14:03):
nose just slit up. I mean, like he said in his post.
It wasn't intentional or anything like that. He's just racing for the wind and
the right front just didn't want todo it anymore, and uh, just
the nose skated grabbed. Jimmy andDerek got caught into that as well.
I mean, these guys got arace against each other quite a bit,
(14:26):
so I'm sure that they're not justout there humming each other because that will
come back. I mean, Jimmyand Marcel and Derek are all I mean,
Derek wasn't even in it. SoMarcel and Jimmy, they both have
top notch equipment to where they're they'llbe around each other a lot more this
year, so hopefully they can throwwater under the bridge and stuff like that.
(14:48):
But to the thing I was tryingto say was I love Facebook because
I love reading reading the comments. The comments are beautiful thing, but we
never comment. I never comment backunless it's like something like we post and
then like people like trying to tellme I'm saying this, and I'm like,
I'm not really, I'm just sharingwhat's going on here. And then
(15:11):
I put in my two cents. And usually when I voice my opinion,
I don't think people are gonna agreewith it, and I don't care either
way. So that's what. That'sthe beautiful thing about opinions and stuff like
that. But reading the comments, some people saying like he just went in
there and just wrecked the shit outof him, and I don't. I
didn't see that at all. Imean, being infield, being maybe one
hundred feet away from what the fuckhappened there, it didn't look like that
(15:35):
to me, to be honest withyou. It just looked like the nose
just the right front gave up,went up the track grabbed him, and
that's usually what happens there at thunderRoad. Everybody gets collected together. But
I mean some comical comments on thereon Facebook about the whole obviously situation there.
(15:56):
But yeah, no, it was. It was a great race.
I mean, shout out to ChristopherPalke fucking filling in for some guy to
get point started. I think hestarted started fifth, you know what I
mean. So he just hung outall race and he picks up the win.
(16:17):
So uh, not bad for Chris. I think this was his first
act win, so that's cool.He usually just runs points up at thunder
Road in the in the late models. He doesn't usually run the tour and
it was a tour race, soI think this was his first, his
first win in the ACT Tour,so shit, congrats to him. Chip
(16:37):
Grinnier came in second, Game Brownthird, Jamie Swallow fourth, and Kayden
Fisher rounded out the top five, which is pretty good for Cayden. I
mean, the top five is prettygood, uh with what the ship that
was going on with them throughout therace. But it got cold. The
batteries all died. Every fucking batteryI brought, the camera died, my
(17:00):
phone died, everything died. Butwe still had one more feature to go.
I think the phone died right afterthe ACT race, so I couldn't
even post anything for ACT. Butcongrats to Christopher Pelke on his win,
which is a hell of a thingwith the DUC tape sixty eight. Loved
that. But we still had onemore feature with the Road Warriors, the
(17:26):
beloved Road Warriors. Kendall Zeno startedon the pin led it all away.
Bert Duffy came. Oh well, obviously Tyler Wheatley transponder wasn't working at the
last lap here, but Tyler Wheatleycame in second, and Bert Duffy came
(17:47):
in third, but that race wasdecent. And Ben Bushy he was he
was He just pulled out a newNissan Centro Spec V and looked beautiful and
all that stuff, and he wastrying to get to Kendall. We even
(18:07):
through traffic, went through one andtwo, and he went He took the
bottom line underneath the a lap carand I don't know if that's where it
started for the problem on the frontstretch that I'm about to get to,
but obviously coming down the front stretchhim and Neil Foster, so it was
(18:32):
Kendall, Neil Foster, and BenBushy all racing for first, and Kendall
had a couple of car lengths andthen uh, Ben Bushy picked the low
line underneath a lap car. Lapcar came down, so he drove down
the side of it, and Idon't know if that shared the sheared the
what is it the threads on thefucking tire that not the tire of the
(18:53):
wheel coming down the front, likebroke studs or something. I didn't get
to see the replay. All Isaw was after like we're on the backstretch
and then there's that bush and thenyou like you have to look to the
front to see what's going. Soby the time we turned towards the front,
(19:15):
Neil Foster's on his hood Ben Bushy'sdragging the nose with the right front
in the ground to the backstretch. So something happened, either the right front
went or whatever it was. ButNeil got it good as well, shoved
the whole right front underneath it.But glad he was all right with the
(19:36):
with the role and all that stuff. That's that's scary as shit. But
yeah, so Kendall went on towin it. I think that's his first
career winning the Road Warrior, Socongrats to Kendall. Definitely a great kid.
I think I met him that day, so that's cool as well.
But yeah, no, we wehad a fun time up at thunder Row.
(19:57):
We saw a lot of uh goodfriends, Uh fucking camp Powers came
back. Uh got to see himfrom Kentucky and all that stuff, shot
the ship with him, saw Richarddon't be a Richard. And then we
saw Danny Boy and all the peoplethat we used to chop it up with
(20:19):
during the race season and all thatstuff. So it was cool. I
love seeing everybody and talking with everybodythat we could and just enjoying the race.
And man, we definitely did missthunder Road with the fan the send
off lap. I missed the fuckingsend off lap. But that that's cool
all on its own, but coolto see the Uh. The place is
(20:41):
packed, is per usual and everybody'senjoying the the day. I know we
had a long day uh Saturday, but the workers of thunder Road definitely had
a longer day. So my shoutout to you guys for doing all that
stuff and it was a long, long day to get everything into things,
So we appreciate you guys. Weappreciate all the thunder Road staff and Chrismashad
(21:04):
and everybody that does put on thatshow, that does run that track.
I mean, without them, wewouldn't have the place that we love and
enjoy. But also at the sametime, they put on a great race
and great facility, tight run ship. Can't go wrong with it, you
know what I mean. And alot of tracks are starting to do that
this year and that's all we want. We want consistency and that's about it.
(21:27):
So but big thanks to all thethunder Road people, from fans to
workers to racers, themselves. Thankyou guys for put on the stickers and
supporting us. Man, it wasa great time up there. And thank
you to Tyler Wheatley, Kevin Wheatleysee Clear Autoglass for sponsoring our weekend up
(21:48):
there. We had a blast, definitely helped out a big time. We
switched hat. I think I haveTyler's hat on right now while we're doing
this recording. But yeah, sowe had fun at thunder Road. I
don't I I haven't even Oh,I think we're off next week. So
next weekend we are. We're offunless something happens on a Sunday, we
are off next weekend. We havea couple of things that we have prior
(22:11):
things to do. Sorry to RyanWaterman and Megan for not making obviously the
the Jack and Jill party. Uhwe were, we were. We were
hoping that racing would have happened onSunday. But uh, we hope you
(22:33):
guys had a great time. I'mglad we could donate to your guys's cause
I'll get the shorts shined up soI can wear my shorts and my loggers
so you guys can enjoy your wedding. You know what I mean. I'll
be checking the mailbox, don't worry. But nonetheless, Uh yeah, so
that was fun. So prior weekbefore that, we went up to Claremont,
(22:55):
I believe. Yeah, I thinkthat's what it was. Yeah,
we went up to Claremont last weekagain, not this past not this past
weekend. That just happened, doyou. So we went up to the
opener for Claremont. We never gotthe we're not the we never we never
(23:17):
got to cover it because we didn'tby the time we I worked nights,
so by the time I had timeto do something, it was that.
But we got We got to goand enjoy infield with Emily and Al and
all those guys, and we loveAl. Uh. We got to see
him up with under Road as well. Uh. But we went to the
(23:38):
opener Saturday for for Claremont on withDesmond and uh try to figure out the
car there drop the uh dropped thethrottle body. The spring for the throttle
body fucking blew apart. So thatwas cool that that was off to a
(24:00):
time off the rip, but thecar had pace and all that stuff.
But we went in field and enjoyedthe race and action with Emily and Al
and everybody involved, And the biggeststory that I can take away from that
is Aaron Fellows picking up a winafter everything that happened to him in the
(24:21):
in the off season, losing hisgarage, losing three fucking race cars or
four race cars, whatever it was, and pretty much living losing everything that
he worked so hard for to obtainand have, and even a part of
his house and all that stuff. But I know they're rebuilding now, but
still it was still a shitty timeto go through, you know what I
(24:42):
mean. But to see him rollingto victory lane and pick up the win
in the Act type Late Models, that was just it was just cherry on
the top. He was definitely emotional, So we didn't really try to get
a lot of pictures of him,but we got one of him just celebrating
emotionally and internally honestly, the winafter everything that happened and all that stuff.
(25:08):
So BAC, congrats Aaron Fellows racinghis long time UH buddy Ricky Bli
for the win. Towards the end, UH pulled away and picked up the
win there. So, like Isaid, uh man, that was that
was just great. It was justit was just a lovely time, you
(25:34):
know what I mean. We theyhad Bandolero's which Bryson picked up the winning
that many stocks, Aaron Acin pickedup the wind there. Uh now Carl
Legends, uh pj Evans picked upthat. Uh Niema was Randy Cabral and
then the NeiMa Lights was Jake trainorOutlaws. Jeff Lay picked up the win.
(26:02):
Pro four Mods Robert Riccardi picked upthe win there. Pierce Talks,
Andrea Santa Moore and Keegan Taber hada battle towards the end along with Josh
Rondo. Andrea picked up the winthere. Keegan came in second, Josh
Rondo third, and then the RidgeRunners they need to build up, but
(26:22):
Aiden White picked up the win there. Hopefully they get some traction in that
in that division up there at Claremont. I mean, you can only do
with what you can, you knowwhat I mean. But the racing action
was great. The Legend cards puton a hell of a show being infield
for those things. Or it's definitelywild. A couple of pile ups down
(26:45):
the back, a couple of spinners, all that stuff. But it was
a great race between like PJ Evansand oh boy, I can't remember the
other name off the top of myhead, oh Burns Burns. So him
(27:08):
and Burns went after it towards thebeginning, but p J Evans got to
pull away from him went on towin it. Uh niemas were straightforward.
Randy Cabral was literally in his ownzip code by the time NIMA lights was
pretty good. Jake Trader pretty muchthe same thing, about two second lead
(27:30):
over Randy in there outlaws Jeff Murraydid had it hooked up for that,
so he picked up the win forthose guys and all that stuff. But
all all, it was a great, great place. Glad to be back
at Claremont. And even though itwas a Saturday, we obviously missed this
(27:51):
weekends Fridays we were doing something differentbut racing under the lights. We definitely
have to go check out the superStreets this here because they usually put on
a good show up there, sodefinitely have to do that. Yeah.
So yeah, that was that JamesJames would be here, but he don't
know how to fucking show up.So there's that nothing other big things happening.
(28:17):
This will probably be a short episodeobviously, yeah, man, but
I appreciate everybody that does listen tothis stuff. Hopefully we can get on
a better schedule so we can bothbe here to do this shit and give
you guys something to do. ButI knew that we were to two week
(28:40):
hiatus here, so we definitely hadto get something out. But thunder Road
was great unless something happened Sunday. We're off this weekend. We have some
other prior plans that we have todo this weekend, so we'll be doing
that. We probably won't be ata racing race or anything like that.
But like I said, thank youguys all for that support us, to
(29:02):
all the sponsors and all that stuff. I appreciate you guys as we try
to get this season going. We'rejust trying to work out all the bugs
of everything, honestly to be ableto do all this stuff. So we
hope you guys have a good weekend. We'll see what happens when it comes
(29:23):
to this weekend coming up. Sobut other than that, thank you guys
for listening and we'll see you inthe next one, hopefully it's next fucking
week. Have a good one.
