a call of a missing adult. Shanning Graves was last
seen by her family around February of twenty seventeen, but
in the missing person's report wasn't filed until June.

Shannon graves sister reported that Shannon had a history of
not being in contact with her family or short periods
of time, but when it reached the four month mark,
it seemed extreme even for what they were used to.

She missed holidays with the family. She missed her sister's birthday.
Shannon's sister and her little brother were very important to her,
so well, something was wrong, something was off.

When the officers responded, they got no response at the
door of the apartment. They were not able to make
contact with anyone inside.

So we start looking at Ohio food card records of
Shannon to kind of see where she has been over
the last few months since family members had last heard
from her.

Shannon worked in Akron, Ohio, which is forty five minutes
west of Youngstown, and typically when Shannon got off work,
the Warfare card would be used at convenience stores around
where she worked.

That usage changed after the last week of February two
thousand and seventeen. Places where she normally shopped she no
longer shopped.

The card is now being used in convenience stores in Youngstown.
It's being used after Shannon has been seen.

In addition to that, the benefits were not being used
at all. After May of twenty seventeen, she just disappeared.

and it was time to launch a formally missing person investigation.

She had a very difficult childhood. Her parents, even though

and lives. For period of time, she was in.

little brother, Aj, and Aj was her world. Everything that
she did, it was to protect Aj. She didn't always
get along with her mom. There was a lot of rebellion,

She was a hard worker and she was fierce.

Shannon was one of those friends that became family. I
was praying to God that she was somewhere safe.

We discovered that in April twenty seventeen, the Youngstown Police
Department towed Shannon's car and we had actually had it
in our impound lot.

Shannon's car was being driven by her boyfriend our Turnavoa
and our Turnavoa committed a traffic violation. There was a
police officer present, tried to pull our turnavo over. Our
Turnavoa flees, He ditches Shannon's car, gets out of the
car and runs and he's apprehended. Shannon's car is then

towed to the impound lot and remain there.

Artrou got a couple of tickets and was released.

Found a series of cardboard box tops and we were
able to determined that they had contained bottles of drain cleaner,
which was mainly sulfuric acid.

That kind of elevates our suspicions is that something else
is going on here besides just a missing person's case.

John told us that Arturo and Shannon had broken up
and that Arturo was upset about the breakup.

Shannon and Arturo were toxic with each other, and I
know that he's put his hands on her. She was
tired of it.

John reported that a few known individuals had observed Arturo
Novoa burning some of Shannon's items in a fire pit

party helped him burn these items, in the person of
Andrew Hermann.

That there was more to this fire than just burning
up your ex's clothing. Ashes from the firepit were recovered
and we did find a bracelet with block letters with
Shannon's name at that point, we were beginning to think
Shannon might be in trouble, so we were interested in

to our Turo who won't speak to us at all.

Pretty much just grabbed some sticks, went to my buddy's

about it when he asked me to help me burn
that crap.

we had before, so it became important for us to
track down our Touro and speaking with him. During the

phone interview with Arturo, Arturo completely denied all knowledge of
there being at fire or Shannon's things being burnt.

That was a huge red flag. We knew it happened.

We knew that Arturo was lying to us.

He came forth with some information and that Arturo also
had another girlfriend. We learned that Arturo was dating on
and off again for many years Katrina la and we
learned that she was in the picture the same time
that Shannon Graves was in the picture. It was your

stereotypical love triangle of individuals. So naturally we have to
look at her as a strong person of interest.

We're led to the back of the house into the basement,
and in the basement is a deep freezer. Inside that
freezer were several black bags and a orange plastic bucket
which contained human remains. It was immediately apparent that we

had the body of a female that was kind of
curled up in the bag. In the bucket there appeared
to be the remains of a human head.

There was part of the jaw bone left and part
of the spine and that had acid on it. Everything
that was done shocks to conscience. It's depraved, it's unconscionable.

There was a tattoo on the female's foot which we
were able to identify Shannon from. It changed it from
a missing person to a homicide. Speaking with them, we

learned that the Eshenbahs were friends with Arturo, Katrina, and Shannon.
They all knew each other. According to mister Eshanbah, Arturo
called him and said that his power was going to
be turned off at his apartment and asked him if
he could bring the freezer to his house and plug
it in there. Mister Eshenbah agreed.

He told us days later, Jill Eshenbaugh is going to
make dinner and opens up the freezer and sees Shan's body.

At this point, our main focus is arresting and interviewing
Katrina and Arturo.

at that point we had no proof that they actually
committed the homicide or dismembered the body.

The prison jail calls were a big old moment. So
I had Mike Lambert called Nicki and we all we
drove out to Connecticut and we interviewed Nicki. Nicki really
is the only person that really tells.

Katrina told her that in February twenty seventeen, Katrina came
to the apartment and found arturo sitting in the corner crying,
and when she asked him what was wrong, Arturroll pointed
her towards the bathroom where Katrina found Shannon dead.

Katrina tells Nikki, if we wrapped her in the shower curtain,
we put her in the trunk of my car and
we put the body in the garage. Our Turnovoa calls
Nicki and says to Nikki, yeah, it's true I killed Shannon.
It was an accident. I didn't mean to do it.
Please don't tell anyone. Well, Nicki tells us, that's the

evidence that we have that our turn of was the
killer of Shannon Graves. The dominoes just fell that we
re indict the case. We indicted our Turnavo and Katrina
Layton for aggrade murder. H So when we walked in,

I put the reports right in front of her in
the attorney and her attorney said, oh boy. And I said, okay, Katrina,
and now you want to tell us what's going on here?

Speaker 19 (36:24):
Well?

Speaker 13 (36:24):
I had without a pole problem.

True, Yeah he was.

Speaker 11 (36:32):
I remember that he was. He was upset.

Speaker 19 (36:35):
So when he comes to the house, I don't really

Katrina revealed that Andrew Herman helped Arturo dismember Shandon. It
does give us something to talk to Andrew about. The
only difference is now we're confronting him with what Katrina
told us about him actually participating.

Katrina Layton began to give more information, although it wasn't
really in a direction that would lead to any more
than the abuse of a corpse case with her and Arturo.
So after speaking to Katrina, it became real important to

talk to Andrew because we were interested in hearing what
he had to say about the actual murder of Shannon.

We proffered him, we met him, as I told his lawyer.
I said, look, if Andrew wants to be cooperative, he
needs to do it. Otherwise he's in a world of hurt.
It's really important to me, I said, a lot of cannon.
So what happened?

In the end, I think that we got as close
to the truth in this matter as we possibly could.

For the first time, the brother and sister of Shannon
Graves confronted the man who killed her and asked for justice.

We're fighting.

Hoping that we can get as much time as possible
for him to go away.

We don't want him ever to be out. We don't
want him to ever be able to hurt anybody else.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
I really do believe that justice was served. It speaks
to the tenacity and the dedication of the investigators. Detective
Lambert is the investigator that I would want because he
doesn't stop until there's nowhere else to turn.

Speaker 7 (42:30):
Justice for Shannon is important to bring her family some peace.
Her sister, her brother, her father. Never sought people who
did this to her to be punished for it.

Speaker 6 (42:42):
It's life altering losing someone like Shannon. So there's definitely
a gaping hole in everybody's heart without Shannon.

She was special, She was one of a kind and
I miss her.
