Want the speakers off, so I we don't have no
no mishaps. But yeah, we're live. My voice is coming
nice and good. Alright, cool cool cool cool cool, alright
and aybody, I'm live with the lovely Miss Rhonda Parker Taylor.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Alright, s yes, yes, yes, mkay.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Real quick to anybody listening, like any dentists out there listening, right,
I need some help.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
I have this wicked cavity right here my tooth right,
I think exposed the nerve.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I any have advice, so yeah, but onto our real
onto our actual guests.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Ms.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Ronda Parker Taylor, author of Crossroads, author of or author
or the founder of the principle of Intelligence Solutions to
the founder.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Right, yeah, Founder Intelligence Solutions, which is a consulting firm
for people that need writing solutions that may may be
starting their own business, maybe they're redefining where they are
in their lives and in their careers.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
And so I'm an author, entrepreneur.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
And an academic researcher because I teach at the college level.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
My book is Crossroads.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
There You Go, which is a suspense thriller which is
based out of Indianapolis. It's a who Denna thriller. All
the sites are real, but the the crime is not
true crimeate's fiction.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
And this book, Crossroads is endorsed by various actors and authors.
Tell me, tell me about some of them who endorsed
your book, sure.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Merrily Hemmingway. So those of you that.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
May not be familiar with their work, she liked. She
with an actress and Academy Award winning actress, some global
Golden Globe actress that worked a lot with like Woody Allen.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
She and also it was a model.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Her grandfather is the great writer Gernis Timmingway. She also
is an author, and she endorsed it due to the
fact that all the all the different characters, I've created
them out of life balance, because you know, when were

(02:31):
out of balance.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
With our true purpose, things can happen to us, you know.
And yeah, the one is jj Ever.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
She's the author of The Backwards King, which is a
baseball analogy book and it's also being made into a movie.
And he's also the the owner and operator of the
publishing house that produced Cross Rooms.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Okay, okay, So we have two things to talk about here.
I'll start with your book Crossroads, right, So one of
the book. When did the book come out?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
The book came back twenty twenty three, and it's a
best selling a best selling novel.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
It is the first of a four part series.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
The others will come out. The second one will come
out this year. Well, I write as I really try
to engage the reader into the characters and their character's lives.
So because I did that, because it's a series, but
each one of the books will have a different process

(03:54):
in developing them and how we think about life. So
we're Book one is all about life balance. Book two
is how when we don't pay attention to our own
safety and the rules of safety, and we and we
believe in the facts of.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
What people tell us to do.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
For instance, if you're working and you're told you must
greet the customer immediately, but you have that instilled voice.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
That says, wait a minute, this is kind of dangerous.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Something's not right here, and you go and then you
end up becoming a victim. A lot of times we're
told in advance we can pick things up. When we don't,
we can become a victim by not paying attention to
those things. So it's called the journey of hope. And
then What I do then is I take people through
what they relate to the characters. They can go back

(04:49):
and they.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Can do Sorry, sorry, sorry, go ahead, go ahead ahead.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
There's self help books out there.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
I've created self help books that will allow people to like,
for this, one's The Journey of Life, Balance and Resilient
on the build, repair, and thrive with purpose, so you
could go.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Out there and learn how to how to do it
at the first half of each book as education.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
And the second half is like, uh, work before you
can work through what might help you get past uh
your your there were issues, problems and thoughts.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Okay, okay, you said you said The Journey of Hope
is coming out later on. Uh, do you have a
more specific time frame or it's t let's stay.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Tuned November of this year. Just okay, christ.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
November, so stay tuned November twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Alright, mm, joining your hope.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
But right now we t be talking about the book
One Crossroads.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
So with that said, so g okay.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
So it was like a brief, like a bristops of
the book gives like a like a like a preview,
like no, like a like like what it wants like
for example, like like a movie or a TV show. Right,
give us like a synopsis the book to get her appetites.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Wet I said, it's.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
A it's an Indianapolis based crime thriller. So if you've
never been to Indianapolis, all the sites are real, so
you'll learn about the Circle, the City County building, Holiday Park,
and where the dead body's dropped which is a thirty
eighth and guy and behind Lafayette Square Mall. So that
part of it's kind of thrilling because if you've never

(06:36):
traveled here, you get.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
A piece of Indiana.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Now, as far as the crime thriller, it's about a
workaholic that gets called the jury duty and when she
gets fair, she wants to get back to work, but
she can't.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
And then when as she's part of the.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
The criminal justice system and part of the jury, things
start happening to her and it's up to you as
the reader to find out why.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
What is it that's causing this the chaos to happen.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
People start to die and get sick, having car accidents,
and so is it about the the the case itself
or is it is there something else going on?

Speaker 4 (07:21):
And then I. T.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
D has to find out why got you got, you
got you got to Okay, Okay, so where where?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Where's the book available?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
It's available on all the major platforms, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, BAM,
good Reads. It's also in various Barnes and Noble stores,
and if you're in the Indiana area, I have visited
all the stores and signed all the copies, so you
get actually get at your own signed copy, and I

(07:52):
periodically on my website will have when I'm doing book
signings in different different areas.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Okay, okay, so my question here is, uh so, what
inspired you to write this write this book?

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, for me, I l I love stories and I
love to read first of all. But for me, it
was also a personal development process. I wanted to write
a novel because I always struggled with writing. So it
was kind of like I wanted to be the best
version of myself. And I learned a lot through the process.

(08:29):
I learned that it's not about whether you're a good
learner or a bad learner. It's about the time spent.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
It's about that.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
You know, working through and designing the story and then.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Go back and edit and edit and edit till you
get it right.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Okay, I actually have her a listener question. This person
used the hotline and this person asked, why should we
read read the book?

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Well, I think for the as a variety of reasons.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
When I wrote first wrote it, I wanted to know
how the legal system is in just a lot of times,
there is no winner when you get involved in the
ingle system, no matter who you are. Characters took over.
I realized that it was more than that. I started

(09:21):
exploring the emotions of anger, fury, and envy. And you
know what they say in proverbs, anger is cruel, fury
is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? Envy makes
the bones rot. So imagine how we are in today's society.

(09:43):
You know, we're on YouTube live now right and all
the people out there watching it.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
It's very easy.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
To take on someone else's persona and think that their
life is better than the one that you have in
your own life now. And what really we're doing is
we're giving our when we become envious of other people,
we're giving ourselves a version Uh what the what the
Bible and most religions believe, which is in the.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
We're giving ourselves a version of of a cancer because
it destroys our.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Own prompts, our own thought process, our own ability to.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
Thrive and be proud of who we are.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Because we're envious of what somebody else has typically materialistically.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Mkay, okay, mmkay, that's all I'm gonna lie. That was
That was very insightful. I hope, I hope these uh
oh my tongue, I uh hope you answer the question.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Mkay, I have here.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
So you mentioned your your your other books right on
not the numbers numbers two, three and four are coming
out no later this year and onward, right, So aside
from aside from that, right.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
What what's next or what else is the next to say?

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Well, I'm continually writing, and I'm continually working with my clients.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
The clients that that I work with are ones that
are going through their.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Own life hit moments.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Maybe they're struggling academically and they need help and tutoring
in certain areas.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
And you're in your references to the principles of intelligent solutions, right,
that's correct, got right, correct?

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Right?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Maybe they're being a business plan and they're not quite
sure how to navigate writing a business plan. My my
background is actually in developing individuals.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
I have a a doctorate business and finance. So what
I do is I help my clients become better versions
of themselves.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Okay, okay, I can actually use that.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
I'm gonna lie, I gots you used you have any
these writing books pertain to die or just the.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
I actually helped them develop theirs.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
No, no saying do you have the you have any
did you write any books? Pertending to.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Ye?

Speaker 2 (12:12):
No, okay, do you probably you need to? Okay, I
was gonna acting intend to cause that sounds a good,
a very good tie in.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
But it's it's up to you to you.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Yeah, okay, okay, okay, back before I got my next point.
Real uh real quick, No, we plucked crossroads to a
little inside about that. But tell us more about you
know your your program. It's uh intelligent Solutions. Tell us
more about that.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Sure, So Intelligence Solutions was developed from my own need
and my own live hit moment. I was a college
professor and an administrator of a college and I had
a life hit moment. And in that life hit moment,
someone had come into my son's cho and shot and

(13:01):
killed him.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Well, I'm very difficult because it was the same age
group as the college students. Right, So I kind of thought, well,
what can I do?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
I don't this is I'm not in this mental space
to be able to go in and teach at that
level at this point.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
So I've said, you know what, I can do the
same kind of mentoring, just one on one with people
from home. At first, well, I.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Started Intelligent Solutions by needing to redefine who I was
and the value that I could provide to society. So
it started from just as what they call a solo entrepreneur,
which I was my just one person shop, and then
I grew it by working with other teams and organizations

(13:53):
to where I thought, you know, this is something that
many people can be in afoot front.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Many people are.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Going through life moments and they might need to change,
you know, jobs, and they might need resumes and.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Research and figure out what the skills are, or they
might be trying to go out and start your own business.
And then that's how Intelligent Solutions was created.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Okay, And so how does it work? They consult you
about stuff?

Speaker 3 (14:21):
I mean, so what they would do is, let's say
they go to my website Roder Parker Taylor dot.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Com, say what the need is?

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Is it? You know a resume, an assessment of some
sort for understanding where the next best job might be
for them, whatever the area is a business plan or
a strategy and define what it is.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
And maybe you don't know, maybe you just need to
have a consultant sit down and say, okay, where are
you where you need to be, et cetera. And that's
the now will be charged.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Okay, cool cool cool. Uh that sounds real cool.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
And you said Ronaparkertale dot com. Yes it is, okay, okay,
so yeah, going there real quick, and you can check
out her projects, like her books and also her her
program stuff like that she's been talking about that.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
It seems to me, I ain't gonna lie this.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
That seems to me like a like a like like
an upgraded version of therapy, which I've been going to.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Like a like a yeah, like a life coach or
a mentor for for leadership.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Okay, yeah, check that out, check that out, because yeah,
it sounds like it's like an upgraded version of like therapy,
like a like alright here therapy, Like he's like, alright,
but here's like the extra stuff, the premium stuff like that.
So yeah, cause I've been I've I've been going going
to therapy a lot lately, that's why.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
So like that I've been going some issues lately.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
So yeah, so yeah, always there is the best thing
that you a person can do for themselves is invest
in themselves.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
And investing self you become the better version of yourself
and you're able to walk through life with their intentionality
and having.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
A sense of purpose.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Okay, okay, cool, cool, cool, Okay, but that's I like,
I like, I like like you said such a stuf.
Cause lest let's you a perfect leadway to my next
question that I have here. So so tell t so
tell us about your s, tell us about yourself. No,
like you like the artist, the artist.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Behind the art, tell us about you.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Sure. So I'm from the Midwest.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
I'm originally from a small town now living in a
bigger city. And you know, I always wanted to be able.
I'm to be able to send a message that helps people.
So my writing comes from.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
That story telling. I come from an entrepreneur.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
Your family that you know, they believe in the power
of great persistence and.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Making sure that you do your your best version of yourself.
And in doing that sometimes we got a little little.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Spent some knowledge from our parents because they were entrepreneurs,
things like, don't compare yourself to others.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Make sure you realize that if you if it's meant
to be, it's up to me. And in doing that,
I was able to.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Thrive and find my own inner strength no matter what
life offered me. I realized, if I get knocked down
seven times, it's time to get up the eighth and
that and it's kind of like get.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Off and get back up on the horse.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
Okay, okay, if you don't mind me asking, can you
can beat the fifth? If to feed the fifth on
this next question?

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Cause this is news to me. I I had no
idea until you brought it up.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
So like I'm tip sure how to word it, so
like of course it impacted you, right of course, but
like how did you, like, how did you how we're
able to get through it?

Speaker 1 (18:21):
For some passing away the way he's the way he
did well.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
First of all, anybody out there that has gone through
any kind of trauma, it could be a death of
a loved one, maybe they are through illness, violence, what
however it.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Might kind of mention the very first thing you have
to do is name the pain. When you name the pain,
then you.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Can define it and realize that it's a matter of
walking through the trauma that you've just gone through. For me,
I became very childlike. I started thinking of all the
little vities that you are here in the cartoons, like
you know, Rudolph's red nose, random.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Foot one in front of the other. But it's true,
there's lots of philosophers out there that have that have.

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Very good wise thoughts on when the journey seems too long,
remembered that.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
It gets shorter with the first step. So literally, it
is about putting one foot in front of the other's, and.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
It's seeking and realizing that your family isn't your therapist.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
They're there to be your family. So that means you
need to seek.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Out, whether it be through the religious communities, whether it
be through you know, a medical you know doctor that's
in therapy, you know, for your therapy.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
It's very important that you seek out the structure and
put it around you to what you.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Call a protective shell to help you learn to thrive
again and learn to live again.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
And it's also about finding joy even in the trauma.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
You can look out every day and find three things
to be grateful for or happier, that brings a smile
to your face.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
If you look for it.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
But it's also just as easy to decide not to
do that and look out the window and see everything
is negative, and that's aimistic, and so you it's a
choice to decide to look for the joy in the
life even though there's sorrow in your soul.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Mmkay, Okay, that's a very very extreme way for putting it.
I think think for sharing that for me, I know
this would be hard for you, So think, thank you.
I appreciate that, and I I will I will consider
I help all listeners do as well. Okay, okay, uh, alright,
cool cool cool, arm well, god, that's I'm gonna lie.

(21:01):
That's that's all I have to prepare, really waiting. Let's
just plugs so real quick again. So anybody get the
book alright, read the book, a great book, report about it. Alright,
let's talk about it on the show. That's Crossroads by
Ronda Parker Taylor. Where can I get it? Barnes and Nobles,
where else? Okay, it's a hard copy and virtual right alright?

(21:30):

information right rondaparkatailer dot com. Alright, so everybody go that
website real quick. Check out check out her book. Also

business map check uh uh check out her program Intelligent

(21:55):
Solutions and alright, and also there gonna be dow Rondeparkertailer
dot com real quick.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Are you on social media?

Speaker 3 (22:04):
I am on Facebook, Instagram, X try, Oh okay, some
old dogs.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Don't don't don't say thing. I'm still mad at them.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Don't say thing with TikTok because so when they announce
the band, right, I I'm I'm underslaw my unstow the
app right cause I'm okay, I I mean, I'm this
up my phone anymore? Right not not next day they
go and bring it back, and so I get the app.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
Try. I try to go to the app store to
get the TikTok at bat right. It says available right
now because of government regulations. So I'm people, I'm like
trapped out of my.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
But you're right, everybody's slow it down.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
On their Yeah, whatever, tas ta text the bat and
fools for kids.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
I'll be honest with you. So that's that's the big
a part of me coming out.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Ah, gentlemen, Okay, okay, so check it out, check out
our website, check out social on social media.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
There'll probably be a link in the description. I'm done
with this. Yeah, I'm my apologies, but this is all
I have.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
And it's been great meeting with everybody, and I hope
everybody out there.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
That's all. It just gets to not be a cross Roads.
But let me tell you, get out there.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
If you're a writer, I know everybody's got a good
story inside and stuff.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
One page a day and it's done in a year.
That's all you have to do.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
So one page a day and you have your you
have your story out, and then you can go back
and do another one and you can produce one one one.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
One one year.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Okay, okay, cool, cool, cool, all right, cool listen. Okay,
So I'm gonna let you go now. But when your
book comes out, right, Journey of Hope, right when it
comes out like later on this year, I might he
be back on talk about that, talk about that, and
it is it is it like a is a sequel

(24:01):
to Crossroads, Okay, okay, And it's.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
Still in the genre of of uh got you got you?

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Yeah, so stay tuned for that and another bush she comes.
That's that that would come after that, So everybody, stay tuned,
stay tuned. Is Rondaparkert Taylor as in rondeparktail dot com.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
