questions in which we appreciate for you know, questions coming in.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yep, So I'll get into those right now.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Now, all right.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Says I hope you feel better. Well, thank you. I
think both of us feel a lot better, and I
know I can get my head a whole lot further
than I was. I'm just about I'm probably a week away,
maybe two from being back to my normal self. Then
now I've getting a range of motion back, and then
I'll start strengthening my neck again quite a bit after that,
(02:52):
once I get the emotion back. I'm been doing a
lot of stretching, I move it, I get it, get
it going, and get a lot of physical therapy on it,
and get massages and stuff like that, red lights and
oh yeah, a few adjustments and stuff like that as well.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
And well also too, you were a little under the
weather last week too, Yeah, and I was a.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Little sick last week as well. So now I'm just
now I think it's just stalergies.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
So well, it's funny. I think I might have caught
it through the through the internet too, because I've been
having scratchy throats and uh dry coughs all day. So
it's like it's that time of season.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
It's not that kind of virus there, not that kind
of virus.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
They don't.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
But you got it from somebody else, that's it. But no,
it's okay. Yeah, So the question was I hope you
feel better and thank you, we do or I do?
And I think Ben's feeling pretty good.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
For the most Oh yeah, I'm feeling pretty good a lot,
you know, like finally got my medication under control, you know.
So I know that's a little bit of information thrown
out there, but my last time I saw my doctor
made some adjustments and I'm feeling a lot better. Just
on that front.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
That is awesome. Okay, I'm not sure which type of
protein powder or bar to choose. Should I go for
wave protein, soy protein or plant based one? Well, soy
is a plant based protein, yes, So that's one thing.
But to be quite honest with you, the way the
way isolate's probably going to do the best as far
(04:27):
as that goes. Let's to hear. There are many brands,
flavors and sugar levels on the market. I don't know
how to pick the right one. Also, is it okay
to eat GMO foods? Try to stay away from GMO
foods as much as you possibly can.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Everything is GMO though, you know what I'm saying that
that's like, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
When you can find something that's not GMO that you
want to eat, definitely eat that first, exactly, buy it
and buy it regular and stuff like that. Get away
from the GMO as much as you possibly can. And
if you can find other options, do that. If you
can find a local farmer, you know, that type of stuff,
(05:07):
go there first, you know. Same with any type of
you know, beef or chicken or whatever. If you can
find somebody who does that locally, you know, go with
that first.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yes, as fresh as possible.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yeah, So local farms, local, just local everything, go there
before you go anywhere else.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Definitely, you know. And I want to make a little
recommendation on protein bars. While we were at the Olympia,
we were close to the Dave's Protein bar booth and
I got to say, it's the best protein bar I've had,
and it's low sugar, low calorie, high protein, and all
natural ingredients, so you're basically eating whole foods. And I
(05:53):
was pretty surprised. So I was like, all right, and
then I do have my sinful favorite one, and I'm
gonna ask you yours, Nick, But there's a protein bar
company called Barbell, and it's just eating a candy bar
that has twenty five grams of protein. You know what
I mean. It's literally just a candy bar with protein
in it. And you know, I don't get them all
(06:13):
the time, but every so often, when I want a
sweet treat and i'm you know, at the gas station,
because most gas stations carry them, I'll get that cookies
and cream Barbel protein bar because like I said, it's
like I'm eating It's like I'm eating an oreo candy bar. Mmm.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Okay, Yeah, I don't eat a lot of protein bars. Yeah,
I'll have the the protein powder. If anything, I'll do
the shake because it's just easier to drink down.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Well, Nick, you like to eat carbohydrate bars in the
form of rice crispies.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Well, yes, yeah, that's to get my glucose up as
I'm training exactly right before and then during I'm training,
and stuff like that. Yeah, which is good. But as
far as for goes, Alpha Lion makes a one called Superhuman.
It's a protein isolate and it is it's twenty five
(07:08):
grams per serving. So for a normal person, that's a
good anob And don't be afraid of sugar. Be afraid
of the artificial sweeteners, not the sugar unless it's like twenty.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Grams or something like that.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah, if the sugar is not like super high and
it has no other sweeteners in it, go for that
before anything else. You know, sugar is easy for your
body process. It'll use it for quick burning energy stuff
like that. It's not the worst thing in the world.
The worst thing in the world is the fake ones.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, so there, And you can tell by a flavor,
by the way it mixes the and it is just
a quality, you know what I'm saying, because you know,
people a lot of times try to use protein powders
as a masking tool for not eating, which is you know,
the first thing you should be doing.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, you need to eat good food first, and then
me I'll go with the alphal Lion Superhuman way isolate
the protein.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
What flavor are you drinking right now?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
I'm drinking Hulk milk. You know, it's pretty tasty. So
it's got twenty five grams per scoop. Now, for normal people,
that's a pretty good amount. I do too, because I'm
not exactly normal.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Slightly slightly, you know, just a little bit above average.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, I'm trying to get over three hundred grams of
protein in the day of protein, so fifty grams is
good amount in one sitting. So oh yeah, that'll help
quite a bit. But again, I don't do a whole
lot of shakes, but I'll do them. And those are
the ones I'll do because I can only eat so much,
(08:55):
Like at work or something, I'll stop and might go
grab a shake real fast between, like when I take
my lunch break, I'll eat my lunch, but in between
I'll grab a protein cake or something like that too.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
And that's the thing. It's an alternative too. It's a
meal because like even most people lose that concept of like,
oh I just need a drink. Protein protein shakes are
meant for a meal replacement in an emergency, correct, you know.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Or on a time like where you don't have time
to cook or eat or anything.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Else like that. Exactly exactly what it's for.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
You know. So if you're at work and you only
get a half hour for lunch and you get two
small ten minute breaks, the ten minute breaks is where
you'd want to have a protein shake, you know, and
a little little tiny snack calories in your body. Doesn't
it's not starving for the calories. You get good quality
you know food in Yeah, then you have your lunch
(09:51):
and then do another one, you know, two or three
hours later, and then you're off and then you can
eat a good meal again after that and then go
about whatever it is you gotta do and then eat
again exactly Now.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
I'm just sorry, Nick, I just want to go into
if you're going to doll this doll it up. I'm
talking about you're gonna make it a sweet treat because
you know, sometimes we use protein as like that where
we'll just add a little extra to it because it
comes down to a calorie thing at a certain point. Uh,
most people, it's gonna be ice water or ice milk
(10:25):
or you know what I'm saying, add le something. Give
me an extra ingredient in here that you would add
to this protein.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
An extra greenent that I would add to besides the
milk and the ice. Yes, a pop tart. I'll throw
a pop tart in there every once in a while,
that type of stuff. And I've thrown in eggs as well,
So take your pick.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
The the pop title thrown in before I got a turn, Yeah,
I won't have time to eat it good meal, and
I need to get a protein shake in and stuff
like that. I'll throw the pop tartan before I need
a train because I'm trying to get the calorie count
to go through the roof. Yeah, trying to get more
carbs and sugars in as well. That way I have
more available gu close to train with.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
There you go. I usually threw a pebe two. I'll
throw in a serving size scoop, which is two tablespoons,
because I'm a big peanut butter guy. I just like
the flavor and so typically you know, anything heavy peanut
butter is in for me.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
It's calories too, yes, so yeah, that's another good option.
But like I said, I like the glucose, so it's
good stuff. Oh yeah, very good. But yeah, all right,
well covers those questions, that's it. Yeah, But I mean
there's so many different things you can do. And always eat,
(11:50):
always eat food.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Whole foods, please, whole foods.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, one item foods, yes, yes, and other to it
that are one item foods exactly.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
And just for a quick understanding, Nick, tell them what like,
the best way to find a whole item food in
a store.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
The best way to find them a single ite of
food in the store is around the perimeter of the store.
You know, the produce section, the dairy section, the meat section.
You know, it's all around the perimeter of the store. Yeah,
that's where you find it. The rice you won't find
in the middle of the on the side of the store.
(12:32):
That'll be in the middle of the store. But everything
else should be.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Around the perimeter of the store exactly.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yeah, that's where're gonna find those things, the good things,
around the perimeter. So the eggs will be in the dairy,
you know, milk will be in the dairy. Yeah, and
then you got your produce department and stuff like that,
and then the exactly. So that's kind of where you're
gonna find the best things to eat for us, around
(12:59):
the perimeter of the store. That's design it that way.
So okay, next, that's it.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Well, let's get into the next question here.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Okay, oh, next question. I get distracted a lot and
have trouble focusing. What helps you boost focus and what
should I stay away from? You stay away from energy
drinks because that'll get you going really good and then boom,
you crash if you're gonna go with a stimulant. It's
(13:31):
real simple. Just a basic black cup of coffee will
do a lot. If you need to get a little
bit more of a boost, use a whole sweetener like honey,
you know, or even a little bit of sugar. Stay
away from the fake stuff, don't put that in there.
And then yeah, a little bit of honey, a little sugar,
those things will do well with your with a cup
(13:53):
of coffee too. The other thing is is get good sleep.
Good sleep will help more with your focus than probably anything.
So get some good sleep, get you know, seven to
eight and a half hours of sleep. If you can
do that, you're gonna focus really good. Run off the
rip anyway, and then meditation will help you focus, you know,
(14:15):
getting your head straight, stuff like that that'll really help
you focus on things that you need to get done
that day. Now. Another thing that will help you focus
is alpha brain. Joe Rogan made this stuff famous. I've
tried it. It's a nootropic, and nootropics work very very
well to help you focus very well. So if you
(14:39):
need to take an outside source of something to help
fine tune your acuteness, alpha brain and the ingredients in
alpha brain. So if you can't find it, look it
up and find the ingredients in it, the nootropics in it.
Those will help you focus a lot as well, and
it's I would do that more than I would do
the stimulants, to be quite honest with you. Or find
(15:01):
some type of there's some nootropic pre workouts that are
out there right now. Brian Shaw sells one called Greatness Extreme.
It's a nootropic and a and a caffeinated pre workout,
but it's not real high in caffeine. I think it
might be one hundred and no more than two hundred grams,
(15:24):
but it has a lot of nootropics in it. So
the focus you get from that, you feel very centered,
very focused on everything that you're doing when you take
the stuff, and it lasts a good six to eight hours,
So do not take Greatness Extreme any time you need
(15:45):
to go to sleep. It's not going to be happening
anytime soon. When you do that and the focus stays
the whole entire time, it does not go a couple
hours and then drop off. It's four to six hours.
Very It was one of the things. I had to
drive back from Brian's house once a few years ago
(16:07):
during the middle of winter, and I was trying to
beat a storm out of there. I was gonna be
stuck there in another two days, and I left a
little bit on the later side that I wanted to,
and so I used the extreme greatness extreme to drive
through the night, all the way to the next to
(16:30):
about eight o'clock nine o'clock in the morning, through through
the storm and stuff like that, going through Colorado into
Utah and back down in New Vegas. That was that
was pretty It kept me very weake and very focused.
I never once dozed off. So it was very good stuff.
And then you want to be very focused in the snowstorm.
(16:52):
Oh yes, so I made it. I made it through
the veil before the bad stuff hit, but it was
still coming down a little bit. The storm got there
about an hour to two hours before it should have,
and I had to drive through some snow that we
weren't really I wasn't really expecting and it helped me
get through.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
That with no problem. Oh yeah, And like, like I said,
those are outside sources. But let's do a little bit
more on the not just the mindset, but like everyday practicality,
because like, one of the things that a lot of
us is procrastination, and that is one of those things
that will take away your focus. You know what I'm saying. Yeah,
(17:33):
you know a lot what I always find myself doing
is I distract myself with other stuff that I don't
technically want to do, but I would rather do it
than what I'm doing right now. Need to get done,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Right, And everybody goes through things like that.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
We all do.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
We all do. There's things I can't stand to do.
I can't stand to write in voices. It's just one
of those things I just do not like to do,
and I will procrastinate it up to a point, but
at some point you just go, Okay, just do it.
At some point you have to put the foot down
on yourself and be like, Okay, I wrote a list
(18:14):
of things together that I need to get done, and
these are the times it needs to get done by,
and I'm going to get it all done. And the
things that I've been procrastinating on or putting off on
and not focusing on are in this list, so they
are going to be done by this time set of time.
I put a thing where it has to be done by,
(18:35):
come hell or high water, no matter what, it's getting done,
and that'll that's you'll get it done exactly. So it's
just write it down, do your list, go through your
list the things that get done. If it's in the
list of things that have to get done that day,
then it gets done period. And there's no more putting
it off, there's no more not focusing on, and it's
(18:56):
no more procrastination. It's that's when it gets it's done.
The only time it's not going to get done is
if something like unforeseen happens, car accidents, stuff like that.
That'll be the only only legitimate, possible reason why I
won't get done. Other night, it's getting done period at.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
The end, exactly. One of the things I always try
to do is recognize that I'm doing it, you know
what I'm saying, because a lot of times, a lot
of us, you know, we subconsciously don't recognize it because
we're just trying to have those blinders on. So, like
one of the things I try to do everybody, Yeah,
this is what I'm doing. Back on track. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
It's it's you know what you're doing. Yeah, you know
what you're doing. You're procrastinating it. So instead of procrastinating it,
put it on a list. If it's something you know
that you're going to procrastinate on, and you know what
you're going to procrastinate on, we all do write it
down the list of things that have to get done,
and set a time on it where it needs to
(19:58):
get done by, and then get it done by that time.
It's just it's just do it. There is no more procrastination.
It's just do it. Like tonight, I'm going to sit
after this and try to figure out how to do
the invoices and get them set off because it needs
to get done.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
So yeah, it's it's it's one of those things. It's
like it comes time to do it, so do it.
It's just that simple. Just schedule the time, put it
on the list. Before I can I'm going to eat.
I'm gonna eat a little bit of food. I'm going
to get on my list. I'm going to finish the
things I gotta do on that list before I can
(20:40):
do anything else tonight.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
And and I will get it done.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Oh yeah, well, you know, like thanks for the fans
tuning in the question and you know, like say that,
you know, join the patroon. You can actually ask you
a question and we'll answer that question. So you know,
that's that one of those perks right there. So you know, so, uh,
but with all that going on and everything happening right now,
(21:10):
what's actually happening in uh for the rogue is uh?
I believe this weekend right you know, that's it. You
know what I'm saying. There's a lot of people, there's
a lot of people coming in, a lot of people
heading out there right now. With the events and with
everything going on, you know, uh, you have any predictions.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
I think everybody better look out for the thor Lucas happening.
It's pretty simple that it's a high pole. So I
think Lucas got a pretty good shot at that.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Oh yes, he's got a good shot, you know what
I'm saying. And uh, you know, with a lot of
people not being able to attend, you know what I'm saying,
like Evan being hurt and being out, you know what
I'm saying. There there there's a lot of people opening
up to what can actually happen at this here, So
I'm definitely looking forward. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
I think Lucas hat on a couple of the events
where he might have to move a little bit. I
think he'll do well enough on those too place high
enough to mitigate any damage. You know, a couple of
other guys that can move a little faster and you
don't have to worry about Evan now. So you know,
(22:25):
I think he can win the overhead part of it.
I think he can win the deadlift part of it.
So it's gonna be h It's gonna be a fun
show to watch.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I think it's and I believe it's free on YouTube
for anybody to watch. Correct, So you know what I'm saying.
So for those who want to watch, you know what
I'm saying, understand that you can check it out. You
know what I'm saying. One of the people I'm looking
forward to seeing is actually, uh, you know, this is
going to be the first not the first, but a
big show competition that Ryan O'Neil is the the current
(23:00):
world strongest Man is attending. So I'm definitely looking forward
to seeing how he performs.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
You know what I'm saying, Ah, listen, litmus test for him,
It'll be exactly for him. I think he's going to
learn a lot at the show. Yeah, you know, and
he's going to learn a lot. This is not going
to be an easy show.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
That's it. That is it. You know what I'm saying.
You got because uh, the as of right now, it's Stultman, Mitchell, Neil, Johnson, Evans,
you know, Thomas Evans, Andre Andrade, Ays, Hooper and Hatton.
You know what I'm saying because uh, because I was
thinking about it right now, I think, uh, Thor actually
(23:44):
hurt himself.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
So and I'm just going I'm just going over the
most updated list here as we speak. And like I
said it, right now, we got we got a stack
card because every one of these guys here, Yeah, I
potential podiums, half podium and or champions.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Yeah. I think unless something goes really crazy, you can
see Lucas, Hooper Andrade and uh Lucas Hatton and Hooper
and uh Trey.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
I agree. I agree, uh.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Thomas, those that could be your top five right there, yeah,
right off top Evans. Yeah, because Evans is good at
all these events too.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
And like I said, and he just podium third place
for the Strongest Man on Earth, so.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Overhead so mm hmm. So it's it's gonna be an
interesting show all the way around.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Oh yeah, so you know what I'm saying. We'll keep
an eye on that, watch it over the weekend, and
then you know, as of next week, we'll we will
report back on it for those who wont our opinion
on that.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Yeah, it should be pretty good. I mean it's it's
it's gonna be tough to beat a couple of these
guys in here. And if Hooper comes in, I'm on
all cylinders. Good luck.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
He's getting healthy, he's getting strong. Things are coming around,
So you have to watch out for what that guy
does when when he's on.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Just yeah, when he's locked in, he's locked in. You
know what I'm saying. That's that's one of those things,
you know. And also to uh, you know, like he
he beat himself up pretty good for his first his
first his rookie years as strong man going as hard
as he went three years. Yeah, he's yea when every
every trophy that could be won.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
Pretty close, pretty done close. So yeah, he's done things
that other people have not done. But it's the longevity
part of it, that's yeah, that's that's really that's the
tough part.
Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
So but I mean it's all the tough part. But yeah,
I think Hooper can do pretty good. But I also
think this is going to be a very very very
good contest for Lucas Hatton. I think it'll be good
for Austin. I think it'll be good for Trey, and
I think it'd be really good for Thomas Evans as well.
A couple of the moving events will hurt Trey, will
(26:20):
hurt Evans, and depending on how quick Lucas can be
with those things. If if Lucas can come in right
behind Hooper on the moving stuff, he's he's got a
good shot because I think he'll out press Hooper by
(26:42):
a little bit. Yeah, and he might at the high deadlift,
he might. He might get him on that. So it's
gonna be a fun thing to want. I can't wait
to watch it because.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Yeah, it's going to be amazing and Hatten's coming off
is America's Strongest Man victory. So he's got a little
momentum running into this.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Yeah, yeah, he really does. So it's gonna it's gonna
be fun to watch. It'll be exciting.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
That's it. There's a reason why there's a reason why.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
They do the contest because you never know what's gonna happen.
Exactly at the end of the day. You can sit
here and go, oh, I think it's gonna be this.
I think it's gonna be that, and then it all goes.
It takes a really right, hard right hand turn. So
but on paper kind of right now, kids finding all cylinders.
I know, he got up there early, so the time
(27:33):
change and all that other stuff and getting used to
being in Scotland and stuff like that. You know. Oh yeah,
it's gonna be fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
It's definitely gonna be fun to watch. Yeah, And so
let's pivot a little bit and uh, actually, next week
is a special day for Nick for those who you
want to be in on the note, you know what
I'm saying that, Nick, I'm just gonna give you a
pre birthday happy birthday with the best experience from my
family to yours.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Thank you brother. You know what I'm saying. Nick, Yeah,
you're going to be last year you were first senior dinner.
Yeah yeah, oh, senior breakfast. That's what we had gotten.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
We had senior breakfast. Yeah. You get a discount when
you're over fifty five.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Yeah, that's it. That's it. And but you know you
getting righted. Was it twenty seven right?
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Twenty seven? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah, twenty seven plus thirty yeah plus thirty.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Yeah. No, that's gonna be good. I feel pretty good.
I mean, all in all, things are coming together pretty good.
I feel better, my perspective, my just everything is going
way better this year, it really is. I feel great.
I'm looking forward to next year, going to be doing
a lot of crazy stuff. Still got a seminar to do,
(28:57):
and h I mean East Coast here coming up at
the River City at River City Gym. That cannot wait
for that and see Nancy and see John Hack. That's
that's that's gonna be cool, really cool doing the seminar
John Hack, because that guy is just all kinds of
strong and especially for his body weight, Oh my god,
(29:21):
he is literally just he's a little beast. He's just
so strong. He really is is dead list like incredible.
I was like watching some watching some of the Deadline
videos that he's done earlier this afternoon, and I was
just like watching it and it's just the way he
(29:44):
pulls it. He's his I don't think I've ever seen
somebody with that kind of powerful back. I mean, I
really don't. It's just incredible.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Well, that's one of those things when you when you
had the mechanics, when you have the talent, and when
you have the hard work.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Yeah, crazy, it all comes together. It all comes together.
But and then his bench on top of it out.
Most guys that can squad or deadlift where he does
can't bench, and he can bench pretty hard good too.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
It's it's really fun to watch it, truly is. So
it's gonna be fun doing that with him, seeing how
he does things and stuff like that. It'll be fun.
It'll be good.
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Oh yeah, it's gonna be a lot of fun. And
it's like I said, it's gonna be great, you know,
And there'll be more of these seminars to come, you
know what I'm saying. It's one of those things, you know,
making more appearances, getting a little more out there, and
also too, we'll be out there in December in not Houston,
San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
No, it's Dallas.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Dallas. The reason I was thinking of other parts of Texas.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
It's November. It's November, yeah, the nineteenth, twenty third.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
No, No, before the OSG.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Oh, in November, I thought I was. I thought for
some reason, I thought it was in December. No, it's
before Thanksgiving, Okay, And that was like that too.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
There's a lot of stuff you're doing right now.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got you know, I always try
to keep the schedule on mark, but I don't have
my calendar in front of me.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
I was looking at all this stuff earlier.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
I get so.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Going out there doing some judging, doing some commentary, helping
some of the guys, oh yes, helping Kiki, you know,
stuff like that. It's just gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Oh yeah, it'll be a lot of fun too, so
you know. And the one thing too is uh, you know,
going out to these events and seeing these events and
meeting the fans, talking to the fans. You know what
I'm saying that that's the biggest reward out of this
at least from my perspective on the outside watching and you.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Know, go and help you know, the guys and stuff
like that and catch up with them and you know,
help them get through events and stuff like. Yeah, it's
a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
It's a lot of fun, exactly exactly. I enjoy it. Yeah, yeah,
me too.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
It's pretty special.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yeah. Oh yeah, oh yeah, well you know, uh, you know,
I had called you a little earlier in the week
and I was wanting to see if you had seen
anything this week yet.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
I tried to watch the new movie with Batista.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
And which what was it called? Is on Amazon Prime,
I believe.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Yeah, I can't remember it's called it was bad.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Well, sometimes that's how it goes, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
I got about I got about halfway through it and
then just got busy doing stuff and I never got
back to it.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
So, oh, you know, sometimes movies go like that, you
know what I'm saying, Because what ends up happening is, uh,
the movies just don't catch you, you know what I'm saying.
It happens so much because like I don't know how
mantimes I've turned up on and I'm just like, this
is not catching my attention. You know what I'm saying,
(33:05):
it's attention exactly. I'm actually looking it up right now
to see if it shows it on his uh filmography
as we speak. Said Land of the Law or Lost
Lands was, which was a good one I liked after Burn.
I don't think that's it. It might be after Burn
because it says twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Hmm, let's see here. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Well, I'll say right, I tell you right now. There's
a lot of the movies that I've been trying to watch,
trying to see, and I haven't seen anything catch my
eye yet.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
There's there's one that looks kind of interesting called Astronaut,
so I might watch that.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Okay, Well we'll keep that one on the on the
burner there to see if that one actually catches mhm.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
I know, I'm just waiting for Man to come out.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Well that's a good show. But you know what's coming
out this weekend is Yeah, I saw the preview, didn't
really catch my eye.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
And then yeah, it's just it's it's okay, it's yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah, Well, like I said, I might give it a
quick second to see if it catches me. But uh,
what has caught my attention. Coming out this week is
the new Running Man. Yes, I do want to see that,
so that is definitely on my on my watch list.
Uh you know, I'm I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna
have any time to go see it this weekend, but.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
I am. Yeah, I don't know. This weekend's gonna be
a little crazy for me too.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Yeah, exactly. Well, you know, this weekend coming up is Halloween,
so it's gonna be all over the place, you know,
and we're a big Halloween family at our house. Our
house is completely decorated and for those for that are
you know, like Halloween and stuff like that. I'll actually
put up a short video in the Patreon of my house.
Because we decorate, we go all out at our house.
(35:15):
It's all litting up led lights. You know what I'm saying.
My wife's you know, I don't do none of the work.
I hold none, I hold none of the like we
did it. It's like, no, she did it. I'm just
pass me this, hand me this, hold the ladder. Yeah,
you know.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Yeah, I'll be going out and I'll probably hand out
candy and probably go spend some time with Jennifer and
oh yeah, go trick or treat with the kids and stuff.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
That's it now with handing out candy or handing out
fun size or full size.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Probably fun size because candy's needs to be a moderation.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
So hey, well, for anybody that knows me or where
I'm at, it's full sized bars all the way. My
wife is, like I said, full Halloween and everything. She
has to actually keep the candy bars locked away because
you know, I have self control, but keeping it in
control is one of those things that I have because
(36:19):
I'm like, I like the sweets, I like the chocolates.
That's my jam. But uh, you know what I'm saying.
We usually give out up pretty much quite a bit
of bars for Halloween around here.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
And then it's neat to see what the kids come
up oh yeah, and stuff like that. It's kind of
a neat thing. Oh yeah, far as you know, things
like that and see what the kids come up with,
and going out and being in the community and talking
to people and stuff like that, and.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Just exactly exactly. You know, our kids are are are
all adult age and they enjoy their lives. There's no
more trick or treating or taking the kids trick or
treating for ourselves. It's uh, you know, we stay home,
we pass South bars, we have a good time. You
know what I'm saying. We're actually hoping we get a
lot more people this year than we have in the
last couple of years, because it's been getting more and
(37:08):
more and more, you know, from the years coming in
because you know, COVID really shut Halloween down and now
it's it's starting to slightly change, at least in our area.
So you know, we're happy that's happening, because you know,
we love when the kids get to come. We hand
them the candies, especially when they come to our house
with the see the full bars.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
You're just like, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
And then those last couple of kids they get they
get handfuls and I know the parents are looking at
us cross eyed. But it's got to get out of
our house, right.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Yeah, no, for sure, So it'll be good. And then uh,
you know, and then going to work, and then I'm
going to try to get to a strong man test
contest that's here in Vegas. I don't know what time
gonna be able to get to work that day, but
I'm down there and go see that. And then the
(37:59):
second uh, when I get off work on the second.
Then I'm going to go, uh my birthday party will
start shortly after that, and I'll be home on the
third fairly in the mid after mid morning, and then
we'll train and then we'll barbecue and stuff like that,
(38:21):
have party at the house and stuff after that. It
should be pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
It's going to be exactly, it really is.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
You get to see you get to see my parents
and just everybody that's you know, close to me. Keep
it small, but really nice party just with with close,
close friends and close family.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Those are good birthdays right there.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
They don't need to be crazy. I don't need to
clubs and.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Stuff. We're adults.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
Well even then, it's just you know, it's just it's
just a jay to enjoy the people.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
That are important to you, exactly.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
You know, as far as I'm concerned, it's an extra
day I get to spend with family and people that
are important to me. So that'll be nice. Looking forward
to Thanksgiving because just will be home for from college
for a few days, yeah, and then really looking forward
to the middle of December because she'll be home for
like a month. Yeah, that'll be great, so I'll get
to see her and you know, it's it's gonna be
(39:28):
pretty special. I really miss her.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
It was hard having her to college. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's not. It's not an easy thing, especially when you
gotta you gotta give that time up. It's like, oh my.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
God, yep, yep. So it's it'll be nice. I'm really
looking forward to the next couple of months coming up,
and then like I said, uh, I think my my
next coming along pretty darn good. Now I can start
now that I got a lot of the mobility back,
I can start working on strengthening it and then get
(40:00):
back to doing my full on regular training shortly after that.
So exactly, you know, it's gonna be it's gonna be neat.
It's gonna be a good year coming up twenty twenty six.
So oh yeah, losto be my fortieth fortieth year. And
you're from high school?
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Man?
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Yeah, man, yeah, Because I mean, other than my hip,
other than my hip bugging me a little bit, I
don't feel old.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Well, here's the thing is, you've you've broken the mold
on what old is. You know what I'm saying, because
like you know, I remember when I was growing up,
you were in your forties, late forties, early fifties, you
looked old and you was old or most yes, yeah,
(40:55):
most people, you know what I'm saying. And now, like
I said, hey, being able to have the strength you have,
being able to you know, look the way you look
and live a comfortable life, it's you know, it just
shows you that that real training and dedication to yourself.
You know what I'm saying, because that's what a lot
(41:15):
of times people always ask, what's the the trick. You
know what I'm saying, what's the what's the gimmick, what's
the magic pill? Exactly?
Speaker 1 (41:26):
It's it's the everyday little things that you do to
take care of yourself every day. It's the way you
eat your meals. You know, one bad meal of a week, Okay,
Other than that, it's everything's good food. It's program food.
It's it's good stuff. You got. A normal, consistent training
(41:49):
program doesn't have to be stuff where you're breaking excuse me,
breaking world records.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
And competing eating your body up.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
It's not that though. It's it doesn't have to be.
You don't have to go out there with the goal
of being world champion. You just have to go out
there with the goal of being the best to you
you can be and the healthiest to you you can be.
And that's the mindset you need to go out with. Yes,
if you have the talent and you want to go
(42:19):
and become a world champion, and all those things will
make you better at it anyway. So it's it's the basic, everyday, boring,
mundane things that you do with the same enthusiasm the
first time you did them. That's going to in the
end pay off. So it's it's the eating, it's the training,
it's all the little things. It's the little things that
(42:42):
up to the mass.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
It's being deliberate in your life, you know. And it's
like like you, you know, if something is important to you,
you'll do it. You want to live longer, you want
to you want to live stronger, you want to live
the best you you know, it requires you to put
in something.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
Yeah, it really anything that you're going to do in
life that you want to do well, you're gonna have
to put the work in for it. There's no there's
no hack around it. I Mean, some people come up
on have more talent and come up on things quicker
and easier, but even the talent will run into its
limits and eventually has to start putting the work in.
(43:23):
And that's the difference between the world class level guys
and the guys that will never make it there. It's
it's it's that everyday work. It's the it's the Yeah,
I'm not gonna go out and party, you know, I'm
I'm gonna stay in and get my sleep and train
and eat and do the things because I think going
(43:46):
to competitions and competing is fun. Travling the world and
seeing those things is fun. That's that's what I thought
was fun. So it's about those little things that make
the biggest difference over time and add up over time.
But there's no quick way. It took you five, ten,
(44:06):
fifteen years to get it out of shape, it's going
to take you a while to get back into shape.
You can do it fast, but there's always a price
to pay. Yep, if you do it slowly and methodically.
Everything in life is slow, methodical, and planned out. And
if you keep constantly getting better, you will keep you
will stay at the top. You will get to the top,
(44:27):
and you will stay at the top till you decide
you want to do something else. And when you decide
you want to do something else, you apply to things
that you learn to get you to that spot to
the next thing that you're going to do, and you'll
be successful at that too, you know. And it's not
about beating everybody. It's just about being the best you
(44:49):
you can be. And if you worry about that, you'll
eventually end up, you know, doing well no matter what
you do. It's just that it so go out there
and be the best to you you can be. At
the end of the day, that's all you can do.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
That's it, and that's the secret. And I don't think
we could put any more of a pin in that
if we could.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
And as all so you know, like share, subscribe, please
share this, please share this. It allows us to keep
going and stuff like that. And as always, train hard,
train smart, and be the best you you can be,
because at the end of the day, that's the person
you're trying to be, is the person in the mirror,
and as long as you keep being a little bit
(45:34):
better all the time, you'll get there. And with that,
go out and have a great day. And Ben, you
got anything you want to add.
Speaker 2 (45:41):
Into that, Hey, happy Halloween and we'll see you guys
next week, and have a great day. You're listening to
(46:06):
the best experience would make best
