Speaker 1 (00:07):
Uh, you could probably turn the light on.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
Oh yeah, let me turn that right.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
There's the lights on the desk. Look, then we can
see Ben's face, you.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Know, just a little I'll just put it up a
little bit. Okay, all right, Well now that we have
the light on, Thank you guys for tuning.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Did you close close the door? Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Let me close it all the way. I'm not doing
anything today. There you go. And for those who can tell,
me and Nick are in the same place at the
same time, just in different rooms. Correct exactly before you
get into that. Uh, this is the best experience podcast
with your host Nick Best and myself and for those
(00:53):
who are watching, thank you. We appreciate it. Like I said, uh,
with the Patreon, you know, we have tears. We have
have a one dollar tier, five dollars tier. You know,
we have the inner circle and then the strongest tier.
And when you guys join it helps us support us,
supports Nick in doing this podcast and you know, just
you know, all the extra content that we're trying to
(01:14):
put out. You know, we have merchandise store promo codes
for each one of the tiers, so you guys can
check that out and you know, and you get access
to this live stream. And with this live stream, you know,
you can ask you questions. You can do these things,
and we also have a community chat where you can
actually plug in your question there. Ask the question, well
(01:34):
answer it there. But we'll you know, for the questions
that are great, we will actually answer them on here.
And we're not saying all questions aren't great. We're just
saying the ones that really catch our eyes, you know
what to saying. We'll discuss talk and we can talk
about nutrition, we can talk about training, we talk about mindset,
we can talk about every day life. Either movies you
guys are interested in if we haven't seen and you
have a recommendation, you know what I'm saying. It's something
(01:55):
that we can check out. But you know, this is
the best experience and hm, that's what we're trying to
give you guys. Actually, we have a question and it's
about mindset, and Nick had an opportunity to read it
and just give his thoughts on.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Well, before I get to that question, I'd like to
think a new Inner Circle number. Zoo ho hope I
said it right. Welcome aboard so this is from hung
when Jaya. So if I mess that up, I'm terribly sorry,
but he wants to he has a question.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
About huh, I believe it's it's a lady.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Okay, she sorry.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Maybe I could be absolutely wrong. We're so sorry. We're
really learning how to do this on the floor.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
So they the question is is basically, like a lot
of people go through meditation and you almost end up
in the state of meditation when you're competing and doing
other things as well, which we've talked about, but most
of the people get into that state of mind in
a quiet environment being able to block everything out. Well,
(03:06):
you're basically going to do the same thing right in
the middle of a noisy area. So it's having the
ability to go into that same mental state and focus
and concentrate solely on what you're doing and blocking everything
else out around you. So instead of going into a
peaceful place that's quiet and doing that, go into a
(03:29):
noisy place and get into that state focusing on one
spot on the wall, or focusing on one person moving
around and just putting your whole focus on them and
having a goal in mind to like maybe walk to
them and then walk back that type of thing, while
(03:49):
focusing solely on what's going around and blocking out everything
else around you is kind of a way to train
yourself to get into that mindset so that if you're
doing something, you're lifting attack or you're picking up something
and moving with it, the only thing exists is that task.
While you're doing it, you're putting everything else around you
to the side and letting everything else around you fall away.
(04:14):
While still while mass confusion is going on, or you're
in the middle of a crowd, or you're in the
middle of an event, or you're in the middle of
a concert, just putting blocking out everything. That's probably the
easy one of the easier ways to do it is
to block out everything around you and just solely listen
to the person speaking or singing at a at a
concert event. It's and then putting that type of focus
(04:36):
that you would when you're in a calm state and meditation,
doing the same thing while focusing on them. That'll probably
be the easiest way I could explain it in the
most simplest terms, how to start cultivating that. So that's
kind of where to start with that, and it eventually
you'll be able to perform tasks and do things like
(04:56):
in front of cameras and TVs and pretty much anything
thing and still be able to focus on the situation
at hand that you're or whatever the task is that
you're doing. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
You know what I'm saying, Those are the kind of
things that we're talking about. You know what I'm saying.
You know, a lot of people want a lot of
specific training, They want a lot of specific information. That's
one of those things too. If you ask these questions,
you can get these answers. And I said, even with that, saying,
how is training this week? You know what I'm saying,
Like the things that you accomplished, things that you have
(05:32):
hit peaks or you know what I'm saying, is it
is it rest time or is it you know, like
you know, because you've got you got to know when
to put on the piloto one right right right right.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
This week there was a ton of stuff going on,
and I was starting to train pretty hard and do
a lot of stuff. And this week I kind of
took as a active rest week. I still did things.
I did a lot of tasks around the house. Yeah,
I did a ton of tasks around the house, just
getting things put on my truck, getting things done in
(06:02):
the garage. I put together a leg extension and leg
crow machine. I just stayed active and very busy and
give myself a week to rest and let my body
recover while still doing things that are going to require
me to move and do stuff. I did a lot
of stretching this week, so uh, while at work and
things like that, I went through my mobility drills and
(06:25):
stuff like that. So this week coming up, I have
a trip to finish off.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Finish that off.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
The other reason why is I'm traveling to n see
a straw man contest in Sandisky so for the scl
and uh, it's going to be pretty hard to train
and do that at the same time. So I took
an active week of rest, like for the whole entire week,
and then I will come back the following week and
get back to my normal routine.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
And that's one of the things you got to do
that when like, you know, you don't want to show
up burnt out, you want to show up attentive and
for this event. So that that definitely requires your time
and attention for those things. So it's also understanding the future,
your schedule and being on top of it. So like
a lot of people need to understand, you've got to
plan for what you are doing.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Right, it's a plane, it's a planned week off, and
I was feeling like I'd been putting in a lot
of really hard work and stuff like that. My body
just needed to take a week to recover. A week
off is not going to kill you. You don't start
atrophy until day ten, So if I take a week off,
I still got three days before any atrophy remotely takes place.
(07:38):
So it's good. It's good. It's good to take a
week off every once in a while. I'm still doing things.
I'm still getting activities, I'm still moving around. I'm not
just sitting and doing nothing. But I'm not training hard
this week. I will be back to back at it
after I get back. I'm in probably day three of
(07:58):
the of the rest period, so it's okay.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
It's going to be good.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
And even with that, you know, let's just touch a
little bit on the nutrition. You know, for most people
who listen and follow Nick, you know, he follows a
vertical diet style nutrition, you know, like just to touch
on that, like the importance of just staying on diets,
staying on nutrition, but also too the one of those
(08:24):
things that people don't know is consistency is key and
don't fall.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
Off right, So I mean, I try to It's a
vertical ish diet that Stan effertin and forgot the name
of the other guy, sorry that came up with it.
But it's a pretty solid diet. I was pretty much
eating very similar to that. I just added a few
things in and it kind of completed how I eat,
and I eat that way pretty much all the time,
(08:50):
and I try to find things like I can't meal
prep and stuff like that myself. I find places in
restaurants where I can get very similar food as I'm
out in that way, so my digestion all that state's
very consistent. The more consistent you eat, your food's used
to it, your body's used to it. So you're you're
(09:13):
eating and your body is ready to digest that type
of meal all the time. And that's a big deal
because when you go out and you travel and you
go from eating a very consistent diet to going out
and eating whatever they have. Instead of going out and
eating whatever they have, just be creative and find things
that are similar where you're at. It's easy to find
(09:35):
white rice, cooked white rice. There's Japanese restaurants there's Chinese restaurants.
Both of those will also still have some form of
beef or chicken or whatever your protein is, or even egg.
You know they put a lot of egg and fried rice.
Well you can just ask them not to make the
fried rice, just throw some egg in there. There's tons
of ways to be creative and eat while traveling and
(09:57):
still eat well. So it doesn't have to be perfect.
It just has to be good, you know.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
And that's one of those things too, because people always
fall short at least, you know, like even for myself,
and I know for the majority of people, it's like
we always look for that excuse. We always like, well
I'm not home. Well let me just you know, like
even when we travel and we go out, I always
order the exact same thing because I know that exact
same thing is going to always be pretty much pleasant,
you know, good for me, you know what I'm saying.
(10:24):
And for the majority of part ninety percent of the
food that is in hamburger form, you don't say whether
I need a bun or no bun that you know,
double meat burger doesn't have to be fully loaded or
any of that stuff. You don't need anyathy extra, You
just need meat. You know what I'm saying. And it's
pretty consistent around the world, or at least in the
United States. I can't say around the world, but right.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Well, in and out Burger and then I've I've found
out a couple of other places do it too. I
just buy the patties. Yeah, I go in and out.
I'll buy six patties. I'll buy one order of fries
and iced tea. There we go, you know, and I'll
get my.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Unsweetened.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I knew that, but most people out in the world
doesn't know that. But Nick likes that unsweetened.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Yeah, because you don't need the sugar. You just you
already get that. You're already gotta get a better form
of sugar from the French fries, from the potatoes, and
then a little potassium and a little salt. And then
with the meat, of course, you're gonna get some salt.
And then you'll process the beef. You'll get the amino
acids and stuff out of there when you ad just
(11:33):
the beef. But you can also still get your your
body will still process protein for energy as well. So
if you didn't get any carbo hydrates, that I'll make
up for it.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
And just like you said, it doesn't have to be perfect,
it just has to be within what you mean.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Yeah, it just has to be consistent, and it has
it can't just be over the board, over the edge.
You know, you don't go eat from eating like you know,
Ford eight hundred calories of meal to all of a
sudden eating a meal that's like two thousand calories and
you eat a couple of those two or three of
those a day, Yeah, you're going to run into a problem.
(12:07):
You know, if you go over by a couple hundred
calories while you're traveling a day, that's fine. But if
you start going over a thousand, two thousand, three thousand
calories a day because you're eating food that is not
very good for you, you know, that's that's what's going
to create you the problem in the long run. And
then oh I just do it here, and oh I
just do it here, and oh I just do it here.
That's not what's going to make you be successful and
(12:30):
maintaining your size, your muscle mass or anything else. That's
what's going to create a very large increase in body
fat and can do things to make you insulin sensitive
at the same time, and you don't want that either.
So like, for instance, we went to a food truck
this week and they had a burrito that was actually
(12:54):
pretty pretty good lean food that was in it, and
then they also had the they had a cheesecake sandwich,
So what are the cheesecake sandwich as well as the brito.
Ate the burrito and then had a couple of bites
of the cheesecake sanwich, not the whole thing. Had a
couple of bites of it to just get the flavor
and the taste, which was a couple hundred calories.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
I was good.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
I gave somebody the rest of what was left, and
you know, they can if they want to have a
couple of things, fine, but I just wanted to taste it.
Got the taste, it was fine. Onto the next thing.
The burrito was Yeah, the burrito was pretty pretty good.
It was a steak burrito and it had you know, rice,
and I had black beans in it, so there wasn't
(13:40):
a whole lot of unwanted fat in it. There was
avocado in it, which is a good fat. So you know,
that stuff was fine.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
That's one of those things. It was like the difference
between on season and off season, and you know they like,
could you imagine like the majority of times like like brianshaw, yeah,
I don't know about eddiebody I know you you always
Brian shall always eat cheesecake to fill the calorie gat
because how calorie dents it is. And it's like, you know,
(14:09):
it's like, you know, you don't have to fill a
calorie get but it's like I still want some flavor.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Right right right.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
You're not doing it to get up to four hundred
and forty pounds, because Brian or Eddie didn't really worry
about their body fat or anything as they're doing it.
They're just trying to get that much bigger. But you know,
getting a taste of something soon it tastes like it's fine.
It's eating the whole thing where you're gonna have a problem,
and eating more than half the thing is going to
(14:36):
be a problem. If you have two or three bites,
get a good flavor, enjoy it, savor it, but that's it.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
You're good. You're gonna be fine at the end of
the day, you're gonna be okay, silly.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
No, No, that's definitely it. You know what I'm saying.
Self control is hard, and a lot of us struggle
with that, but it's also something you have to build it.
You have to build that up. It just doesn't happen overnight, right, right.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
But developing self control comes to measuring what you're doing
versus what your long term goals are all the time,
not some of the time, all the time. Whatever it
is that you're trying to achieve, you go to do something.
Will this help or hurt what I'm trying to accomplish?
And you have to put the goal that you're trying
(15:21):
to accomplish, you know, above certain things, and there's some
sacrifice involved, you know, between going out and having fun
and going out to a bar and everybody's drinking.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
You go out to the bar with.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Him because you want to see your friends, but you're like,
you don't drink, and they're like, You're like, okay, looking
at your watch, Okay, it's eleven o'clock. I need to
leave because I gotta be at work at nine. So
I'm gonna go home. I'm gonna get my sleep, They're
gonna be able to get up meal, prep what I
need for the day, and then get out the door
in one piece. So you're going to leave before eleven,
(15:54):
you know, they're they're there till one two o'clock in
the morning. Hey, great, have a great time. I have
goals I need to accomplish. That's where I set my limit,
you know, and other people set their limits in different ways.
John likes to go to bed at eight o'clock in
the morning or eight o'clock at night. But he gets
up at three o'clock in the morning, which is fine.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
So it's before three.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Right, right, So but you get get He does what
he needs to do to get his sleep in and
he's not negotiable with that, and neither should you. So
but you set where your norm is. You know, you
might not have to he's going to getting up and
doing stuff by four or five o'clock in the morning.
He's already working and doing stuff at five, now, you know.
(16:39):
So if you got to be up by seven to
be at work by nine, saying time span, it just
set to where your life is. That's all you got
to do is just set your schedules where your life
is and don't be negotiable with those things. If your
objective is to perform well at whatever it is that
you do, you need a certain amount of sleep to
(17:00):
be functional and to do well. You know, you miss
if you don't sleep well, and you can cut your
efficiency that day by at least twenty sometimes thirty percent.
You might feel okay, but you dredge on and you
get through the day, but you'll be twenty to thirty
percent better if you just get a decent night's sleep.
So sleep's important, and it's setting the schedule and executing
(17:23):
the schedule and measuring your goals against what is going
on around you pretty much at all times, you know,
And that's true, and that'll keep you consistent on what
you're trying to do. You can't just because people get
in the habit of blowing stuff off once. Oh I'm
just going to do this once and then it comes
up again and they do it again. If then they
(17:45):
do it again and it comes up again, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
You know.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
It's being non negotiable on those things. You know, if
they're truly your friends, if they're truly important people in
your life, they're going to accept that and they're going
to understand. It's just that simple.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
It is as simple, and it's direct and straight to
the point, because yeah, I said, we all have goals,
we all have wants, we all have needs. But the
thing is is, you know, what you truly desire is
going to be the hardest thing to obtain a lot
of people you don't want to help you with that,
But the people that really love you will help.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
You exactly exactly, the people that want to support you,
that want you to succeed, that want you to achieve
what you want to achieve.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Because you can.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Build wealth that way, you can build your body that way,
you can build spirituality that way. There's nothing you can't
build with those parameters. There's nothing you can't do. It's
just setting your goals, setting your non negotiables, and going
through it. It's it's all it is. And your life
will adjust and fall into place as you do those things,
(18:50):
and those who really love you will still be there.
And those who are more there for acquaintances and like
fun and who you are or who who who? They
They just kind of want to be around you because
you're fun or whatever it is.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
They'll fall off, Yeah, they'll.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
Fall off, but the important people will stay in your
life doing the important thing, supporting you, doing the things
and the goals that you.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Want to accomplish exactly. And you know, let's pivot a
little bit, because you know, sometimes we can get a
little too serious and a little too much into the
training and mindset, like to make sure we cook for it.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
But we had an opportunity last night and since we
since we watched it and we only were only one
episode deep, but we watched Charlie She on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Yeah, yeah, whoa, whoa. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
To be quite honest with you, I'm surprised the guy
is still alive and real, but they're already starting to
get into the thing where he has a pattern. And
he's very talented, he's he's bright when he's not messed
up on drugs.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
He's an intelligent man, but he.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Kind of like you can see that he doesn't feel
he's worthy of what he's doing, and so he wrecks it,
does drugs, gets out of control, and then pulls it
back together, goes through the rehab, rebuilds his life, and
it's a pattern he follows over and over and over again.
And some of that's probably, you know, him not feeling
(20:28):
like he's worthy of it and values what's going on
and wants to blow it up to see if he's
going to do it again, and just to confirm he
still has that ability. And for the first episode you
can kind of see the pattern.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Oh yeah, they're definitely drawing a line that you can follow,
you know, and it's just it's crazy. But then also
too is like you know, you know, Martin Sheen is
his dad, Emilio is his brother, and Ramon as the
business the older brother who you know didn't really you know,
he didn't really seem like he was doing acting. He
(21:05):
was living a normal life, but you don't realize he
really did grow up as not just a star kid,
but around stars, Like almost every one of his friends
are all high level actors, high level of people, and
it just lets you know that you could be around
this much success and not feel worthy and then just
(21:27):
go And also to peer pressure is there you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Well, and then also there was no limit for him.
People didn't hold him accountable. Yeah, you know, he would
do something messed up, and like he talks about the
first time he kind of figured out when you know,
he wasn't ge get held accountable was when he showed
up late for filming Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He was panicked,
He's slept in he kept hitting a snooze and then
(21:52):
he gets there and he's late, and they're like, the
directors like, oh, okay, you're here, let's get started. Didn't
rip him. The girl that got him the gig. I
think Jennifer Gray was who it was. Yeah, you know,
rips him a little bit. He thinks he could get
ripped by the producer, by the director, and he's like, okay,
you're here, great, let's get started. And it turned out
(22:12):
to be an epic, you know scene in Pheri Speeler's
day off. But he didn't get held accountable by the director,
and he kind of learned, you know, if you come
in and hit it out of the park and acting,
you're you know, and you keep it together, you're while
you're acting, you're gonna get away with a lot. And
he did, and nobody really held him accountable, and he
(22:35):
didn't hold himself accountable. That's the big thing. If he
ever held himself accountable, a lot of those things would
never happen.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Exactly held himself to that higher standard. But like any
he didn't really get in through the holding. He didn't
really get any pushback from anybody for any of the
ship he actually did, so you know, he definitely shows.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
And people would just hand him drugs. Yeah, they would
enable the habits. You know, so around a lot of
drug addicts and a lot of problems a lot of
people there, the people around him enable them to be
that way. Yeah, you know, and you can't enable people
to be that way. It's just not good.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
This is just episode one.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yeah, I know. Yeah, it was a pretty good It
was a pretty good show. It's interesting to watch.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
Oh yeah, we definitely have to get into episode two
and then and before we even I don't want to
pass too far on this because there's a little bit
more I wanted to talk about with his documentary. But
Charlie Sheen's first movie was Grizzly Too, and he was
a side partner. So I'm like, I saw Grizzly One.
I didn't watch Grizzly Too. So I'm definitely gonna reach
back and watch Grizzly Too so I can just see
(23:43):
this because you know, and and the one thing he
was talking about filming Grizzly Too, if it wasn't for
Grizzly Too, we might we might have had a different
karate kid.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Was so crazy because he you know, his dad, maybe
hold yourself accountable, hold your self to your word. That
the only kind of discipline or mindset or anything came
from his dad, and only from his dad from so
far from what I seen, because he made him. No,
you promised, you gave your word, and in this business,
your word is bond.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
And that was kind of like the field of acting.
And that was kind of like only in the field
of acting. You didn't make them hold it for pretty
much anything.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Else but exactly, yeah, you go do this, no, go
do it. And then comes back and I couldn't wait.
So they used carusoe.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
That's it, that's it. And then but also want to
talk about id flights. She's out of jail and is
a crazy bird lady. At least that's how I see
this in the documentary.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
So some of those birds, it's not like very healthy
all the feathers.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
You know, I don't know nothing about bird care, but yeah,
some of them are missing quite a bit of feathers.
And I don't know how that works. But you know
what I'm saying, I'm.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Assuming that blurs are fighting with each other. But yeah, yeah,
they look like they It was pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Yeah, So you know, for those who didn't know. Heidi
Flights is out of jail and she's still you know,
living life. She just does not at all look the same. Yeah, okay, anyway,
that's it, all right, We'll move on from Charlie Sheen
and all that good stuff.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
You know.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
One of the things, like I said, you got this
trip coming up where you're going to be heading down
to Sandusky for a strong man announcing him and so
you're just doing announcing and judging, just announcing, you know,
And that's what I like to see because, like I said,
Nick still wants to get back to the community. He
still wants to be there for these kinds of events.
You know, big, small does not matter because guess what
(25:42):
straw man and straw man in every facet. N Yeah,
it's one of those things you love, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Yeah, No, I love it to death. It's it's gonna
be fun to go out there. One of the events
is they're gonna do an arm over arm with a
ship with a ship. They're gonna be on a boating
dock and the ship is going to be like in
the water and they got to pull the ship a
(26:09):
loading dock arm over. It's gonna be neat to watch.
That's gonna be pretty amazing. So I'm looking for never
seen that before, so that's gonna be pretty cool to
see in person.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
Never seen that. Unfortunate I'm not going to be there,
so I definitely would have liked to have recorded that.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah you know what I'm saying. Yeah, well they're filming,
they're filming, it's going to be on local television.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Yeah, it's gonna be on local TV. Then there you go.
You know what I'm saying. For those who are in
that area, the San Disky area, you'll be able to
watch it on TV then, So that would be pretty
cool even when that kind of covered, and pretty sure
it'll hit the news with the reminder and all that
good stuff, So that'd be pretty awesome.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Can't wait.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
Oh yeah, and then you know, and then you fly
back and then uh, you know what I'm saying, then
what you can be on for another week?
Speaker 1 (26:56):
But m hmm.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
What do I want to talk about is is uh
up and coming? Like I said, uh, the Olympias right
around the corners literally in October. Yeah, you know what
I'm saying, we're half We're about half a month away,
and you know we always go to the Olympia. It's
going to be a lot of fun be at the booth.
You know, short strength, he always comes, so you know
(27:22):
what I'm saying that that will always be a thing.
So it's like, you know, we want to start reminding
people if you want to come see Nick, meet and
greet Nick. We will definitely be there.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, and I'll be judging the Veterans Storm Mak the
Disabled Veterans strong Man contest as well.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
You know what I'm saying, That'd be a lot of
fun because what was it a strongest American or strongest
American or the strongest America. I'm trying to remember. I
literally was just reading it this morning and I don't
know why I couldn't think about it, but you know
what I'm.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Probably because you've done things, editing videos and doing stuff
and it all kind of mixes together.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Yeah, that's probably.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Yeah, Yeah, it definitely, it definitely blends together sometimes because
it's a lot of fun when we get to hang
out and do stuff. So you know what I'm saying.
And then I want to talk about this bear steel,
a piece of equipment you just got. Yeah, you know
what I'm saying, You just put it together, and you know,
as you put it together, it's like, you know, I
didn't realize how heavy duty it was and how smooth
it was and how small a footprint it is.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Yeah, it fits in less than a three by three
square so it takes up very little space in a garage. Yeah,
you can do leg extensions and leg curls on it,
and it's it's built like a tank.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
You're you're not going to break this thing. You're not.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
The steel stick. The bolts are huge, and you need
a thirty six millimeter and a thirty four millimeter sockets
to tighten the bolts on it. So it's yeah, it's
pretty serious. It's a piece of equipment and it works great.
So I love the thing and just get to add
that into my routine.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah, it literally feels like a piece of it is
a piece of gym equipment, but it's a piece of
home gym equipment, so yeah, it's home sometimes.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Yeah, it's a home gym equipment. That's commercial gym quality
hands down. I mean it's I'll put that thing against
any leg extension or leg curl in any commercial.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Gym right now.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
It's not good, and it's reasonably priced too, So yeah,
it's really reasonably priced.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
So I would go check it out very still, for sure.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Exactly exactly. And you know, and with everything that you know,
with training and with getting a new equipment and trying
new equipment. You know what I'm saying, No one ever
understands how important equipment and also how important proper gear is.
You know what I'm saying, because that's one of those
things to Sometimes people put too much faith and strength
in just the equipment they use. But the thing is,
(29:51):
you still have to have that raw power. Yeah, you know,
I'm it's there to help you, it's not there to
do the work for you.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Yeah, but a good quality, good qual the equipment like
Evolution Athletics has great stuff, great belts, great knee wraps,
great risk traps, wrist wraps, I mean everything, UH, soft belts,
knee sleeves, lifting, uh, support pants, stuff like that, support shorts.
(30:18):
They have everything that you need to compete at the
highest level.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
In any context, whether it's power lifting or straw man
or anything. It's good equipment or just for good great training.
Because you pay what you get, you get what you
pay for, and it's designed by a lifter. That's one
of the best that there's ever been. So it's it's
good equipment, it really is. It will last you.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
A long time.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
It definitely does. You know what I'm saying. Like I said,
I own a uh you know, I don't do training
as hard as I used to, but like I said,
I do use a soft belt, and god damn that
that The Evolution Athletics soft belt is the best soft
belt I've every year. But yeah, and and and also too,
it's like a lot of times when you get side belts,
they roll or slip or they stretch out, and like
(31:08):
I said, and it's it's one of those things. Is
like when quality is there, it doesn't stretch out, it
doesn't roll, it doesn't fringe, and it actually lasts. So
like it's just you know, like it's just proper equipment,
right price, all that good stuff. So it's like making
sure that we understand that difference. I'm saying, you pay
for what you get, just like you said.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Yeah, and you want the best, you can get the
best from them. It's just that simple.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
It is simple, h you know, you know, and it's
just it's it's so crazy too, because like I said,
you know, I've seen I've seen gym equipment. I've had
gym equipment. It's just like, you know, I bought the cheapest,
and I've used evolutionists like, oh, you can't. You can't
put dollar for dollars.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
You can't compare.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
It's it's not the same exactly exactly. And you know,
and talking about equipment, we actually, you know, we've just
posted a video for the strongest man or not strong
for the strongest man in history, yeap, And and it
brought up a whole conversation about that Tuggle War competition.
(32:08):
So those who watched the show, there was a you know,
it was a six on four and then a seven
on four, but there was a slight advantage that was
never discussed. I don't know if it was discussed in
the episode or not, but you were telling me about it,
so and you set it up.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Yeah, well, so we did the tug of war.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
You know, we started at four and four, then five
on four, and then six on four, and then we
got the seven on four. But these guys were originally
to use their tugle war boots, which have blades on
the side of them, so they just turn their feet
sideways and it digs in and there's no way we're
gonna there's no way we're going to move them. They're
like no, no, no, no. So they were like, okay, you
(32:48):
just can't wear cleats or that. So they come with
like rock climbing shoes, mountain climbing mountain climbing shoes, you know,
like where you go hiking in the bottoms all you know,
it's got you know, ridges and grip and stuff like that.
And we're still in our tennis shoes. So once we
got to the seventh guy, we could hold it with
(33:10):
our hands and beat him easy. We just couldn't keep
our feet in connection with the ground. We just slid.
There was nothing we could do. I think if we
had the same type of shoes that they had on,
we probably would have beaten them all. But that didn't happen,
and so they beat us. But plus, I don't think
(33:31):
you're gonna find shoes and Rot might find them in
maybe find them in Eddie's size, but Robert and Brian,
you know, you're not gonna find shoes in sixteen and seventeens.
So there was no way that even they were gonna
be able to get the same type of shoes. We
all should have just had play all basketball shoes, all
(33:53):
all of us and then or playing tennis shoes. Then
it would have been it would have been probably a
whole difference. But that's okay. I mean we still did
pretty good.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, six six four still pretty good.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
The one that you know, I know how competitive Brian
is was. I can only imagine how upset he was
when you guys couldn't pull off that seven on four
is there? Can you can you shed a little light
on that.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Oh well yeah, he doesn't like to not win, so
but I mean it was fine. It was just like
that's where we pointed out that they had different shoes on,
but by then it was too late, so there was
nothing to be.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Done about, so, you know, And just talking a little
bit more on those Scottish games you played for a
few of the other thing that you guys actually uh
that were you know actually they did.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Yeah, so we did the open Stone or I think
we did the Braymer actually, and Robert did really good
with the Bramar Stone.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
He can. I don't know why Robert doesn't do the
highlight games.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
I really should he should, because I think that's built
right up his alley because he chucked the heck out
of that stone, and then the rest of the events
he would do really well. And the caver toss they
used the challenge, they used their last caver, the one
that I guess only two people have flipped. And then
(35:16):
we didn't get to play with it before we went,
so when we're going out there and grabbing it, it's
not like we got to practice with it or warm
up with it or do anything else. It was like here, here,
here's the caver. Oh, by the way, as we're going,
only two people have flipped this. This is the one
they use after the people have got twelve o'clock a
couple times on the other one, and so it's just like, okay, great,
(35:37):
thanks and yeah, I felt like I had one pretty
good pick and then I got excited with it and
my hand moved just as I went to put the
pressure on to lift it up, the thing slipped out
of my hand and hit me right right between the legs,
and I took a little bit of a knee and
(36:00):
caught my breath and just waited till I could walk again.
So yeah, right on right on camera.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
So it was awesome. So it's like, did not feel good.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
So yeah, it was Eddie the only one that actually
get close to flipping.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
It, right, Robert actually was the one got Yeah, he
was the only one got close to flipping it. And
even then, I don't Robert still had quiet ways to
go to flip that thing.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
But that's one of those it's the heaviest and the
biggest cabard and they're like, oh, let's just make you guys,
so no one could do what wor to make it
look like you guys are easily doing what you guys did,
because he imagined if you were have started with the
right the right size caber that everyone starts with.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
Probably we probably would probably did it a little better.
But that's okay. I mean it's it's it is what
it is, and it looked like it would it look like,
and it was still a neat experience. It was still
a lot of fun. I mean, we're on Bramar, that's
where the Queen goes Queen used to go to watch
the games and stuff like that, so it was it
was pretty special just to be there, so.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
It was neat. It was an honor.
Speaker 2 (37:09):
And then going to any other sit while you were there.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Yeah, well, we went to Castle Braymer, we went to
Eddie and I, which I don't think you see in
this series, had to go to a place that makes
haggis and so they took us to the back and
we got to see how hagas is made and what
they used to put in it, and it was just
like it's all like hearts and lungs and kidneys and
stuff like that, and they're just like kind of looking
(37:35):
at it going, oh my gosh, you know, and they
just throw it all into a grinder and dump it
into the dumping into the sheets, seats, sheets, stomach. So yeah,
it was it was guy try it. Uh well, they
made it and they cooked it and then we all
(37:56):
had dinner at Castle Braemar and brought it out and
so everybody had to take a couple of bites of it.
Oh yeah, that was an experience. The good thing though,
is is because Robert did what he did, he want
a bottle of scotch.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Turned out to be very very very good scotch in Scotland.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Yeah exactly, and they opened it and everybody got like
a little taste of it.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
So that was pretty cool. That was really amazing nice.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
That's what I like to hear. You know what I'm saying.
You know, you guys actually took a couple of iconic
pictures while you guys were in Scotland dressed Brave Heart,
you know which you know, everyone always talked about.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
Those, which which was really funny because we had to
do that ourselves. We were we brought up the brought
it up to the producers and stuff like that, and
I'm like, no, we're not paying for that, and we're
just like, okay, fine, we got three hours that are free.
We're gonna kind of go do this. And we got
a hold of somebody went to the store and I
(38:56):
think either any or Brian bought the paint. I think
it might have been Eddie brought the paint. They came
in and we each got one of the guys one
of the film crew, and they're helping paint us up
and we put header kilts on and stuff like that,
and they're the producers are watching us get painted up,
and then they're like looking at the camera men, going hey,
(39:17):
go with them. So they got a bunch of footage
of us out there doing this stuff. And then so
it turned into something that was an awful lot of
fun and it was pretty neat. We got some really
good pictures out of that, a couple good videos out
of it, too, but it was neat. It almost feels
primal when you're sitting in the middle of the forest
with a sword and you got all this blue face
(39:38):
paint on and you're like, oh, I feel like Melo
GEPSI going freedom.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
But yeah, it was pretty cool. It was a lot
of fun.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Well, you know, this will definitely leave a lot of
open questions for those because you know the question and
we're not going to answer it. But I always like
it because people always ask you when's the show, and
the show has been a few years off, everyone always
ask for that second season, when's it going to happen.
I know there was a few times that you guys
had some talks and things went back and forth, but
(40:06):
you know, we you know, for those who know the situation,
they know the situation, but you know, it just it's
it's a love and beholded show that lasted, and it
just you know, it still holds the test times because
I don't know how many people that we talked to like,
I love this show. I rewatched the show. I watched
it on YouTube. I searched that. You know what I'm saying,
(40:28):
It's just it's just one of those iconic shows.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah, it's it's It's one of those things where like
the day we started filming and the two.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Get too far into it, you know what I'm saying.
But you know, like I said, for those who know,
they know. But at the end of the day, everyone
still loves that show. So to day people want more episodes,
and we will.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
We would still gleefully do more too, yes, Glee.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
So you know, if there's TV producers out there that
might want to pick it up, yes, well always throw
it out and be either. But wait and.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
See, history owns it, so history's gotta gotta push it forwards.
So if they don't push it forwards, we're just hanging
out getting older by other day.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
That's it. But you know, like I said, and you know,
I think this is a good stopping point just from here.
