003 - Jimmy Shine - The MF Show

The MF Show

On this episode of The MF Show, we sit down with shop-owner and hot-rodder Jimmy Shine. Jimmy has been building hot rods for over 30 years, and has been an automotive enthusiast his entire life.  Jimmy shares his personal history in automotive, from his father’s influence, living in SoCal, and his time working under the late great Pete Chapouris. We talk about SoCal as an epicenter for car culture, being home to an incredible amount of enthusiasts and manufacturers, including Camburg and Magnaflow. Jimmy also gives his personal account of his achievements, building his iconic 1934 Ford Pickup, and breaking into the 200mph club at Bonneville. Stepping into the modern day, Jimmy talks about the shop he owns and operates, Shine Speed Shop, producing full hot rod builds, and handling upgrades and repairs for customers. We discuss the experiences of operating a shop, and Jimmy shares how he tackles the unique challenges that come up in his line of work. Looking forward, Jimmy gives his take on what the future holds for the hot rod and aftermarket culture. This is the MF Show, hosted by Jerry Zaiden and Richard Waitas, and brought to you by MagnaFlow.
