Speaker 1 (00:08):
It's going to be a high of 83 today. Might
see an isolated pop-up rain shower later this afternoon. I'll
tell you how mad I am at the city of Columbus,
or whoever does the designing. Because I'm already mad at
the roadways that they can't figure out how to smooth
over their manhole covers.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Pretty much every manhole cover.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Kink!
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Kink!
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yep. Yep. And I'm like, this is the first place
I've ever lived where you can't just level it off.
So now I'm squeezing the white line so I'm not
driving over the manhole driver. Yep. They just finished, or
pretty much finished, with this bridge construction right here. Is
this considered Trebut on this side, when you make a
(00:55):
left off of Riverside? Okay, Trebut.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
They've been working on this bridge forever.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Forever. Since I moved here 18 months ago. They've been
working one side, then they switched, and now they're pretty
much done. And right as you come up to the light,
heading eastbound, and you get to Riverside, they have a
manhole cover there. This thing is bigger than a speed bump.
(01:21):
The whole thing is elevated. You're sideways when you drive
over that thing. And I'm like, what are we doing?
What are we doing that you can't level that thing out?
I did it again today. Kink, kink.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Screamed out a big old F-bomb.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
I was like, what?
Speaker 2 (01:41):
How can they not smooth that out? I don't understand.
So frustrating.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yeah, it sounds like we need some manhole cover experts in.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
To assess the situation.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
It seems like we've sloughed that on to somebody else
who's not an.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Expert in it.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
They just don't. I don't know. And I'm no city engineer.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
No, but you've been over a manhole or two in
your life.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I have. I know it can be done.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
I don't know how. I don't know why. Maybe there's
a reason here in Columbus they've got indented manhole covers
and then one mountain-sized manhole cover.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
Just to keep you on your toes.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
I don't have a Jeep Wrangler. I can barely get
over that thing. You need a big foot to drive
over this manhole cover.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
How are you, Kelly?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
I'm fine.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Okay, good.
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yeah, everything's real good.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Great.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Glad to hear it.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
How are you, Thick? I'm great.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
I take McKinley. I've been trying to tell you to
take McKinley Avenue here for 18 months. Man, it is dark.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
McKinley Avenue.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
It is.
Speaker 5 (02:40):
It needs to be better lit.
Speaker 7 (02:41):
I turn my brights on, but there's no manhole covers,
and there's no construction. It's true.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
It's true.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
We did determine it's basically the exact same time. You
and I have done the timing together in opposite ways.
Speaker 7 (02:54):
I just don't want to deal with that construction. Fair enough.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
But I get it.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Chris, yes, I agree. I do need a company vehicle.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
We got a text message.
Speaker 7 (03:03):
Can we all get those?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (03:05):
That'd be great. Back of that. That's going to happen.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
All right. On the way this morning, we've got your
Zucchini Fest tickets, VIP style. We're going to give those
to you coming up here at about 835 this morning.
We have to visit F My Life coming up in
an hour. Start stocking up on your toilet paper again.
Remember the toilet paper shortage of 2020, 2021? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh, this is going to get fun.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Oh, boy.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Another one's on the way. Why?
Speaker 7 (03:34):
I heard COVID was on the rise this summer.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Nope.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Has nothing to do with COVID. Nothing whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So I'll tell you that coming up here in about
an hour. And I've determined, yes, we will talk about
the fact that I almost came home to a dead
dog yesterday. So angry.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
We'll get to that coming up here a little bit later.
Right now, let's go to Blitz Morning Trivia.
Speaker 7 (03:57):
I hope you're not angry because it wasn't dead. No,
not at all.
Speaker 8 (04:00):
All right, $ 25 to Waterbeds and Stuff if you're the
first one to text in the correct answer. A newly
discovered snake species that was found in New Guinea.
Speaker 7 (04:11):
It's a brand new snake they've never seen before.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Danger Noodle.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
No.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Huh? A snake. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
It's a danger noodle.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
A danger noodle. Well, that would kind of be an
interesting name for it. But it's been named after a
rock legend. This brand new snake has been named after
a rock and roll legend.
Speaker 7 (04:30):
Who is that legend? Be the first one to text it.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
In at 800-821-9970.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
We'll hook you up with that gift card.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Let's get that answer for Blitz Morning Trivia Thick.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
All right, the question was, a brand-new snake species has
been found in New Guinea, and it was named after.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
A rock and roll legend. Who is that legend?
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Any guesses?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Ozzy.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Nope.
Speaker 7 (04:53):
Big snake.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Snake. Snake, it would be Axl or Slash.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Slash.
Speaker 7 (05:00):
Slash, yes. Yeah, because, of course, he had a side band,
Slash the Snake Pit.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Oh, right.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, he's a big guy.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
You know, fan of reptiles. Yeah, it measures about 28
inches long. And it's like the actual name is.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Yeah, it does.
Speaker 7 (05:19):
Lilapis slashy, which means slashes ground snake.
Speaker 9 (05:23):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (05:24):
And the reason is the lead researcher, Shisaro Ruan, is
a huge Lifelong Guns N' Roses fan.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Nice.
Speaker 7 (05:32):
Discovered a snake, so she named it after Slash.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
That's pretty cool. Alex Morris from Adamsville, Ohio, which I
had never heard of. It's out in Muskingum County. Population,
140 people.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Everybody knows everybody. Everybody knows everybody.
Speaker 7 (05:47):
So everybody out there knows Alex Morris.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
From Adamsville.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Congratulations, Kelly.
Speaker 7 (05:51):
He won me 25 bucks for waterbed and stuff.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Kelly, I know how you love a TikTok saga. Yes.
Something broken down into multiple parts. And you can follow along.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Lay it on me.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Lay it on me.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Have you been following Oreo Gate? No. Oh, this is
a big one.
Speaker 7 (06:08):
I haven't stumbled upon it.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yes. Oh.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, this is a big one.
Speaker 7 (06:11):
Oh, Kelly, you would love this.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
I do know what you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Okay. Okay.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Oreo Gate is the current TikTok drama story that is
coming through in multiple parts.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
I need to get into this.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
I did hear about it. A mom's upset about.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
You can find it on Instagram or TikTok. Okay. And
basically what it is, is one mother has started sharing
this mom's group chat. There is a group of moms.
All their kids go to the same school. I don't
know where the group chat started from, but they've got one. Okay.
And so this mom is sharing the story. And a
(06:50):
woman named Michelle is asking other kindergarten moms to stop
packing Oreos in their kids' lunch.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Because it makes her daughter Ava upset. Now. We're not
talking upset because she gets ill. We're not talking an
Oreo allergy or anything like that. It's just Michelle doesn't
want her daughter Ava eating Oreos.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
So.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
She's trying to dictate what other mothers pack in their
lunches so Ava doesn't get sad.
Speaker 5 (07:24):
Doesn't get jealous that other kids get them.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
When they're comparing lunches, yes.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
Oh, homeschool your kid.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Will you?
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Please, I beg you.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
So I guess another mom, Charlotte, packed Oreos and said,
with respect, I'm not changing my daughter's lunch because your
daughter wants an Oreo.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Sorry.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
One mom is calling it Oreo Gates Challenge. I do
know that now one mom has started packing double-stuffed Oreos
just to be petty.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
I saw that.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Then the original mom.
Speaker 4 (07:53):
Who doesn't want anybody having Oreos, went to the principal
and said, could you please tell people not to pack Oreos?
Speaker 5 (08:02):
And they just put out a message that was like,
please try to give your kids healthy snacks. That's all
they were willing to do.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Oh, man, I'd be like, is there a triple stuff?
Because this is not happening.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, the mega stuff, for sure. That's going next is
mega stuff. Oh, Michelle, you can kiss the brownest part
of my b-hole. You're going to tell me what.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
I can pack in my kid's lunch?
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Oh, my God. Now, if there's a child with a
peanut allergy, something severe, because some of those kids, you know,
they can get it just from breathing there.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
Of course, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Okay, one thing.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Well, because you don't want to give your kids Oreos.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
This is a health issue. It's one thing.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
If it's, oh my God.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
No, absolutely not. If you want to catch up, I
think they're up to like 12 parts now. And if
you want to be entertained, one of the websites or
one of the posters put it to that, what is
it called, song view or something.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
You've got some of it?
Speaker 7 (09:01):
Yeah, I've got some. Oh, you've got the song.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Okay, play some.
Speaker 9 (09:06):
All right.
Speaker 7 (09:06):
Let me get the audio on.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Come on.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
Anytime.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I'm spastic.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Just reading it now.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
We encourage families to choose healthy options where possible.
Speaker 9 (09:16):
But what is included in each child's lunchbox is ultimately
at the discretion of parents.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
Seems pretty clear to me. I've seen it. I'm actually
quite disappointed.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Why?
Speaker 5 (09:26):
They said parents decide what goes in their.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Own child's lunchbox.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
They've also specifically.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Said they encourage healthy options.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
So clearly, they agree with what I was saying.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Michelle! Encourage.
Speaker 5 (09:35):
They basically politely said I can pack the Oreos.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
That's your interpretation.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
I just think it's... School is encouraging healthy eating.
Speaker 7 (09:42):
Parents should respect that.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
It's true, Oreo.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
I think the email was probably a wherewithal.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
That is just.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I love when they set these texts to music and
you can put it through AI. But the drama.
Speaker 7 (09:56):
Oh, it's crazy.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
The.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Gosh. The size of the balls that Michelle has to
even send the original text message. Hey, could you not
send your kid with Oreos because my daughter gets jealous
because I won't let her have them.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
If that's what we're doing, I'd appreciate if you would
quit eating bagels and cream cheese because I love cream cheese,
but my stomach can't handle it.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
Me bringing in my cream cheese.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
But yet I have to watch you eat it every day,
and it really makes me sad.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
Would you please stop doing that?
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Kelly, you can kiss the brownest part of my b-hole.
Speaker 9 (10:34):
Not so breaking news. The news already broke. We're trying
to put it back together.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
All right, we got a couple big-name brands having some
big-name PR problems right now. It wasn't that long ago
that we were talking about Bucky's and their location up
there in the Beaver Creek area. And Bucky's tried to
throw around their big wangs, saying, look, we own the
(11:01):
Beaver look. And they started coming after little businesses.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
All around Beaver Creek. How dare you have a smiling beaver.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yeah, you can't do that.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
In Beaver Creek.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
And so they caught a bunch of flack for that.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Well, now people are jumping online because Buc-ee's just released
some new guidelines for their employees. You know, one of
the big things that Buc-ee's comes to town, you're bringing
a whole bunch of job openings. I guess working for
Buc-ee's is awful.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
No kidding.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
I guess they are so strict.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
You have to have a fully open schedule because they're
open 24 hours. So it's not like, hey, I can
work 9 to 5. No, you have to be, they start,
they just schedule you when they schedule you.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
So one day you might be there from noon to 8,
the other day you might be there from 2 a.m.
Speaker 7 (11:47):
To.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Right.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Exactly. Now they have started new rules that forbid any
visible tattoos. I'm sorry, Buc-ee's, but you're a gas station
at heart. Have you ever seen any gas station employee
without a tattoo?
Speaker 5 (12:06):
So you either want 12-year-olds or 80-year-olds.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Basically. Or you have to wear, like, full-length turtlenecks in
the middle of August to cover up your tattoos.
Speaker 7 (12:17):
I'm just going to miss out on good employees.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
In addition, no body piercings, tongue post, unnatural colored hair,
open-toed shoes, or torn or faded clothing.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
Oh, I can be okay with the open-toed shoes. That's disgusting.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
No, I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I agree with you. That makes sense.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
They're serving food there and stuff.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
They, like, look respectable.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
If you go online, you can apply online. You cannot
smoke on the premises at all. There is no, like,
go behind the building and smoke. You have to... Leave, leave.
And again, you are expected to work nights, weekends, and
holidays because they are open 24 hours a day, 365
days a year. People are jumping online. One person said
(13:02):
it's very toxic and extremely rigid. Tons of restrictions. Most
people don't last a week there. They say the money
is good. I guess they pay higher than average. You know,
kind of like working at Costco sort of thing. You're
getting 20, 22 an hour. But the mental, physical, and
emotional stress they say you endure. If you value yourself,
don't do it. I.
I'm not down talking the company. I don't know anything
(13:23):
about them. I've never even been to a Buc-ee's. I'm
just reporting that they've got some strict new rules in
place on top of the strict rules they already had.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
How can you have a life when you're expected to
be available 24 hours a day for whatever shift they.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Decide you're in? Yeah, you couldn't set up a schedule
if every week they post a schedule and every week
you don't know.
Speaker 7 (13:43):
Are you planning a kid's doctor's appointment? Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
How do you sleep?
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Yeah, your sleep schedule has got to be all messed up.
Because you come home at 8 p.m. and then you're
off the next day, technically, until the following day when
you work at 1 a.m. or whatever the case may be. Yeah,
that's all weird.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
It's a little like it's the 1950s over there.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
The 49ers have not had the best PR lately. On
their Jed York, of course, being caught right here in Ohio,
trying to hire a prostitute and a prostitution sting. Well, now.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
49ers are catching more bad PR.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
This one isn't necessarily their fault, though, because a man
who was posing as a 49ers player has just been
arrested with a partner as they scammed more than $ 1. 3
million off of women. They were posing as an NFL
player from the 49ers and a financial advisor.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Dejon Labre Love is.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
A 35-year-old, and his partner Taylor Jamie Chan, an 18-year-old,
were charged with criminal complaint filed in Portland with conspiracy
to commit wire fraud and wire fraud because Dijon would
jump online, meet women because, hey, I'm a football player.
How are you doing? And then as they talked more,
(15:06):
you know, I'm a football player. I got money. I
guess it was kind of a pyramid scheme where he
was getting money so he could take more women out
for more lavish dates to really reel them in. And
then Taylor would play his financial advisor. They would do
like three way phone calls or the girlfriend would hear
him on the phone with his financial advisor talking about investments.
So then they would go on dates talking about investing together.
(15:29):
Then they would invest. And when the women started asking
too many questions, they'd block him and ghost him and
keep all their money.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
You know, if you put that kind of effort into
a legitimate job.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
It might be successful. That's a plan.
Speaker 5 (15:42):
My gosh.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
They jumped online and created fictitious investments. They created websites
that looked like businesses they were investing in. They created
fake bank statements. I mean. My gosh. They've got brains.
They know what they're doing. That could be applied. This
(16:04):
has been going on since February of 2020, by the way.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Yeah. They've been doing this for a while. they finally
were arrested by the FBI. I mean, this is because
this happened in multiple states. They're talking to women across
state lines. They're using, you know, wire transfers and things
like that.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
So, yeah, they're looking at some real trouble.
Speaker 7 (16:23):
Did he say what? Was he identifying a real player?
Speaker 1 (16:27):
No, he was just saying he was on the team. Oh, okay.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Yeah, that's it.
Speaker 7 (16:30):
I can't believe none of them actually checked.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Yeah, why don't you check out some of that? Google
the name. Right. No word on whether or not there
has been any restitution or anything like that. But they've
identified 26 victims.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
My gosh.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
That's got to feel humiliating, too.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
It does. How do you, yeah. If you have to
go back to your family and I got taken.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
I'm so wanting to date a celebrity rich person that
I got completely taken.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
But again, you know, you read some of these scam
stories and you're like, how did you, how did that
not click? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
That's something they write.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
Do you not turn on to watching play? I mean,
you're dating a 49ers player. Do you not turn on
a game?
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Yeah. I mean, is he, did he only do this
during the spring and summer? I don't know.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
For six years.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (17:26):
I don't know. And only 24, what'd you say?
Speaker 1 (17:28):
25 women. So like 26 women. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Five women.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Yeah. Right.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Yeah. It's like point break. During the summer, they rob
the bank. They take the money, and they go live
off the money and go adventure the world. So that's
what he was doing. He'd come back in spring and fall,
or spring and summer, and do it all over again. Anyways,
that's your not-so-breaking news, 997 The Blitz. I hope I'm
not stepping on your toes, Kelly. I'm sure you're going
(17:50):
to talk about it in a news report. But Tim
Curry passed away yesterday. Got that news in the middle
of the afternoon, of course. All kinds of amazing roles,
including Frank Ferger and things like that.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Another beloved.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
I was asking, we texted yesterday, and I was like,
who's going to come today?
Speaker 4 (18:09):
He and Dolly Parton both died at the age of
80 on the same day.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Oh, did he die the same day? Okay, it was
just reported a day later.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
Tuesday night, it was reported a day later.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Yeah. But it got me thinking, or waiting for the
next icon to fall. Tim Curry, don't get me wrong,
I love. But Dolly, as we talked about, is on
a whole other level. in terms of, like you put
it yesterday, icon status. And we talked a little bit about,
you know, musically, who that would be. I mean, Ozzy
(18:42):
was a big one. Prince, Elvis, and Michael Jackson are
about the only ones I can compare to someone like Dolly.
But then I was kind of thinking about it, and
I saw this online, outside of music. Let's just take, like,
pop culture as a whole. Who else, when they go,
or maybe they already have gone, who would be on
(19:03):
that icon list?
Speaker 7 (19:05):
Betty White.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Yeah. I agree.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
That already went. Yeah, that was a big one.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
I think when it happens, and I think we still have.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Some time, but when it happens, Tom Hanks is going
to be.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Oh, yeah. up there.
Speaker 7 (19:21):
Is Dick Van Dyke 100? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
I think he turns 101 in December.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Carol Burnett.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
She's got to be on there.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
Julie Andrews has got to be on there.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Oh, that's another one.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
They're pretty widely beloved.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Yes, that is true.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
How about Willie Nelson?
Speaker 5 (19:40):
Do you think he's on there?
Speaker 7 (19:43):
Oh, yeah. For sure.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah. That would be hard to deny, I think. just
overall in terms of, you know, not only his music,
but what he's done. And it sounds weird that he
might be idolized for his pot-smoking ways, but a pot-smoking icon.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
I mean, icon on multiple levels.
Speaker 7 (20:07):
He's got a lot of big music. You know, a
lot of country songs.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I think he put out, like, his
60-something CD or something like that.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Like, ridiculous.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
What about the Star Trek guys? Like, all of them.
Shatner and Nimoy. Wait, is Leonard Nimoy still alive?
Speaker 1 (20:22):
No. Oh, no, he passed. He did pass, yeah.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
George Takai, he's still alive.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
He is still alive.
Speaker 7 (20:27):
So Shatner and Takai.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (20:29):
Those will be big. I mean, Shatner for sure will
be a big one.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
What about Mark Hamill? Luke Skywalker.
Speaker 7 (20:35):
Oh, he's not that old.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
No, no, I'm just saying in general when he goes.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
Yeah, I'm sure. Yeah, him and Harrison, I mean Harrison Ford.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
There's a big one.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Yes, Harrison Ford would be another one. Let's see.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
All right, how about this one? Stephen King.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
How old is he?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Oh, yeah, icon status for sure.
Speaker 7 (20:53):
I'm just talking about him.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, just say icon status in general.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
Not that they're about to die.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Let's see here. Clint Eastwood. Oh, Marianne said Clint Eastwood.
That would be a good one.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Yep. Keanu Reeves.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Oh, that's going to be when that comes around.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Because of, like you said, we're looking at Dolly's philanthropy.
Keanu Reeves has just been known as one of the
nicest guys ever for a long time.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (21:22):
How about John Travolta?
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Yeah, that could happen with his resurgence. Yeah, that very
well could be.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
Morgan Freeman's got to be pushing 90.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
I was going to say Morgan Freeman or even Samuel L. Jackson, maybe. Oh, Denzel.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Denzel will be on the list. That's an icon status
for sure.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
Just draw the blank. Scarface. Al Pacino.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Oh, Al Pacino. Yeah. Okay. Anyways, 800-821-9000. They're all debatable.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
I don't think you can debate Dolly Parton. You can't
debate Betty White.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Exactly.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
You can't debate Elvis Presley.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Yep. That's the thing.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
They're all debatable, but.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Who's really up there?
Speaker 5 (22:01):
Who's really up there?
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Solid.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
800-821-9970.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
It's 99.7 The Blitz. And now, the three things you
need to know before you go.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Rescue teams continue to search for hundreds of missing people
along the Nepal-Tibet border after catastrophic and deadly flash flooding
and mud swept through several communities following a glacier collapse.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
I don't know if you saw any of this footage.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
It is.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
It's like a movie.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
It is like a disaster movie. You can't even believe
it's real.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
I mean, the initial video I saw of the border
crossing right there, that building.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
That... That's a two- or three-story building. Just ate it.
And that wave was taller than the building. And what
I really feel bad for was 10 seconds before that
tidal wave comes in, you see people running out of
the building.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
They got wiped out. Yeah, and there is footage of.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Dozens of people running down the street and getting completely
swallowed up.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
It's awful.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
At least 168 people are dead so far, more than 1,300 missing,
including at least 65 Americans.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Twenty-two tourists from Tennessee were said to be in a
building that was completely obliterated by a wall of rushing
water and mud.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
The State Department says the U.S.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Embassy in Kathmandu is working closely with local authorities to
find and assist U.S.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
Citizens in the affected areas.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Videos of the tragedy show the flood swallowing up people
as they try to escape, destroying buildings, bridges. It's just unbelievable.
You can't believe something like that can happen. And you're
at the complete mercy of Mother Nature.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Yeah, nothing you can do.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
No.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
Three U.S.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Secret Service employees are on leave pending an investigation into
potential misconduct. The agency confirmed the staffers include Chief of
Communications Anthony Guglielmi and two other members of the Secret
Service's communications office. They lost their security clearances and access
to their work devices, and reports are they were escorted
out of agency headquarters. It's not clear why they were
(24:04):
put on leave or what the investigation includes. Actor Tim
Curry is dead at the age of 80. He was
best known for his role as Dr. Frankenfurter in the
Rocky Horror Picture Show. Curry had been dealing with health
issues for years and passed away Tuesday night.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
He had a.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
Prolific career across film, TV, and stage over five decades.
He played Pennywise in the 1990 miniseries It. He popped
up in family movies like Annie, Clue, Home Alone 2,
and Muppet Treasure Island. He earned three Tony nominations for Spamalot,
My Favorite Year, and Amadeus.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
He was so good at Spamalot. He was hysterical. Wild, yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
And then he got an Emmy nomination for an episode
of Tales from the Crypt that he did in which
he guest starred and he played a family. He played
all three characters, the mom, the dad, and the daughter.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Apparently got an Emmy nomination for that. He had a
major stroke in 2012.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Which left him with lasting mobility issues and inability to walk,
I guess, for the rest of his life.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
And it changed his whole physical appearance.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yeah, it was so sad.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
He was great in an episode of Roseanne.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
Oh, yeah?
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
He was out there.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
His IMDB must be a mile long.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Yeah, it's huge.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
All right, those are your three things.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Well, if you're out and about the next couple of
days swinging by the store, you may want to load
up on some toilet paper. Because it looks like there
could be another run over the next couple of days.
People could be picking it up. And I'm going to
preface this right now. We don't get political. I don't
care what side of the aisle you're on. I'm just
(25:42):
reporting what is being stated, okay? Because if you haven't
seen over the past couple of days... We got a
little back and forth-y right.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
Now with Canada.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
There's a little bit going on. A little bit of
jabber-jawing on this side, a little bit of jabber-jawing on
their side, and we're going back and forth.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
We had a deal last week, and this week, it's like,
what's happened?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
So here's the deal. The latest thing is some tariffs
being put in place on our side from products coming
from Canada. Canada says, fine, we'll match you dollar for
dollar on the tariffs. They're going back and forth. The
problem is they now say... Paper goods are going to
be the hardest hit sectors. And toilet paper is way
(26:25):
up on the list. They are expecting a huge price
jump because most American toilet paper is made right here
in the good old U.S. of A. That's amazing. The
problem is the products they rely on to make the
toilet paper, Canada's raw materials, particularly limber and wood pulp
and that kind of stuff, lumber.
Speaker 5 (26:44):
And wood pulp, They got all the trees up there.
We need them down here.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
It's all going through the roof. And here's the thing.
Procter & Gamble, one of the biggest paper companies, toilet
tree companies out there, they make Charmin. The CEO has
come out and said, we're going to raise prices to
counteract the tariffs. So you're looking at about $ 328 million
(27:08):
worth of toilet paper, which we imported just from Canada.
That's not counting the materials. That's just toilet paper we imported.
Costco says, yeah, paper products are going to go up.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Now, hopefully, it won't last long, but.
Speaker 5 (27:23):
They aren't supposed to.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
The retaliatory tariffs aren't supposed to go into effect until
September 8th.
Speaker 5 (27:27):
So you have a couple, maybe a little over a
week here. Week and a half.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Run out.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Run out.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Just run the paper before the price jumps.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Stock up, baby.
Speaker 6 (27:36):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (27:38):
Go ahead and make fun of my four squares at
a time, huh?
Speaker 1 (27:41):
You are definitely saving money. You are saving money. That
is true. That is true. But I'll pay a little
extra not to have poop on.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Just saying.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
I don't mind.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Whatever.
Speaker 5 (27:52):
50% tariff. Bring it on.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Bring it on.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
I'm not having poop on.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
Never have. I'm doing it.
Speaker 7 (27:58):
So, yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
So just be prepared. And, yeah, we're already getting texts.
I'm not doing a bidet. Not doing it. I did
it once. Never again.
Speaker 7 (28:09):
I remember that sound you made.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Neptune's kiss is not for me.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
Not happening.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
Everybody says they're lovely. You're the first person I've ever
heard to say that you really hated it.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
I hated it so much.
Speaker 5 (28:28):
You can't be alone.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
I've never, ever had the pleasure of experiencing the day.
I don't, I've never, I don't know what it's all about.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
I would use it.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
If they were to create a more widespread.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Shot.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
You want your.
Speaker 5 (28:46):
Whole butt to get wet?
Speaker 1 (28:47):
I'll take it. I'll take that more than I will
take just the, like, right up Main Street. You're hitting
the bullseye every time.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
Is there a camera there to make sure they get
it right on target?
Speaker 1 (29:01):
You know, that's a good question.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
I think it's just angled in a particular way.
Speaker 5 (29:04):
Are there files and files of people's rear ends?
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Here's a question. When you first get your bidet, do
you have to reach under and adjust the nozzle so
it's hitting the right spot? Because I'm assuming depending on
how tall or short you are.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Tell us, bidet people, because we might all be invested here.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Your b-hole may be an inch or two forward or back.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Right.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
We're not all the same.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Right. So are you reaching under and adjusting?
Speaker 5 (29:29):
You have to.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Not yet. Not yet. There it is.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Or are there specific settings for everyone in your household
and you just have to press your name, the button
next to your name?
Speaker 2 (29:37):
It's like the nicer cars that have the reset.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Seats. For each person. So the bidet moves forward and back.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
That's a good question.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
It has to be an elite bidet that has a
different setting for everyone.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
But I need more of the, yeah, I need a
wider spread shot.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Like a fire hose type sitch. It's really, it's aimed,
but kind of. It really reaches a wide circumference.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, a wider circumference more than just like, you know,
the direct funnel.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Right there.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Right.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
It's too much.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
Anyways, so head on out. Get yourself a tour of
the paper if you need to do so. Or it
might be a time, if you want, to invest in
a bidet. It's a Thursday. Excuse me, which means it's
time to visit F My Life, where people jump online
and admit things going wrong in.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Their lives so you can feel better about yours.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Like this person who says, today I had a job
interview at a restaurant opening up. One manager hypothetically asked
me why I should be hired. I said, I'm detail-oriented
and very efficient, more than most. I left the interview
to find I'd locked my keys in my car. It
took all the managers to help me get my keys out.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Whoops!
Speaker 5 (30:49):
Well....
Speaker 1 (30:51):
So about that attention to detail and efficiency. Let's see
what had happened was... Ah, this person admits, Today I
took my car to the garage because the dashboard had
started making a strange clicking sound. The mechanic listened for
about 30 seconds, opened the glove compartment, and pulled out
a pen rolling around inside. Spent $ 90 on diagnostics, appointment
(31:13):
to discover my stationary item was causing the problem.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I had that, um... We had, what is it, the
lug nut lock or something was in the glove compartment.
It like came out of the holder and it was
rolling around.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Oh, it was driving me nuts for a day.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
I did this, I did, well, a very stupid thing.
My car was running really, it started running really weirdly.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
I was like, why, what, there's no, I can't get
up to speed, number one. I had to take side
streets all the way to like a car place.
Speaker 5 (31:41):
I pulled in.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
I'm like, I don't know what's wrong with my car.
It just started acting weird. And after a few minutes,
he came back and he said, your parking brake's off.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
It wasn't like scraping or anything?
Speaker 5 (31:51):
No, I mean, I don't know what it was.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
It felt, whatever was going on was bad enough to
where I knew I needed to get it right in.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Yep, you had the e-brake on. This person admits, today,
while giving a brief presentation at work, I blinked out
at what I was going to say. Tried to make
a joke, tell him I had a brain fart. All
I could manage to say was, I farted.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
Everybody laughed.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
This person says, today I was sitting under a rather
large house plant in my dining room, minding my own
business and relaxing, when a spider lowered itself right in
front of my face off the plant. It startled me,
causing me to gasp, which resulted in me inhaling the spider.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
I just spent the next three minutes choking on it.
Speaker 7 (32:45):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Oh, my gosh. Can you imagine being that spider? Like,
all of a sudden, your entire world is.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
I'm just chilling. That's good old dad. Look at that sunshine.
I think I'm just going to hang out right... And finally,
this person admits, Today, my allergies started up with a vengeance. Man,
I know the feeling. The last couple of days have
been awful for me. Yesterday... I broke four ribs and
(33:17):
fractured my sternum. Every time I sneeze, I swear I
can feel broken bones moving around inside. Oh, damn. I
cracked two ribs one time, and I remember I sneezed once.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Oh, gosh.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Tears.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Tears. Balling my eyes out, which actually didn't help, because then...
And that's hurting. Not good. There you go.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
You're looking to kill some time today.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Get a laugh. Visit fmylife.com. We talking romance. It's all
about that sweet, sweet love.
Speaker 7 (34:01):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
No, very simple question.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
I like the way you sway back and forth when
you do that.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
You have to. Usually swaying forward and back. Oh, yeah.
Speaker 7 (34:14):
I don't need to see that.
Speaker 6 (34:15):
Ince.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
Ince.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
Kelly, why are you looking down at your phone?
Speaker 7 (34:23):
What's wrong?
Speaker 2 (34:23):
You don't want to look over this way?
Speaker 7 (34:25):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (34:30):
Can I work from home?
Speaker 1 (34:31):
No. Very simple question this morning. What is romance? I
saw this question posted on the World Wide Web, and
I was thinking, I was like, oh, what is romance?
Because I have a pretty strong inclination that everyone's idea
of romance is obviously different. Right? It's got to be.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Kelly, what is romance?
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Well, for me, I think there's something to the love
languages theory.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
I 100% agree. I don't really get into those types
of things. Astrology and you're matched here and you're kind
of this person. But the love language thing, I completely
agree with.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
Yes. First of all, Charlie's a gift giver, which is
so special to me. Just say something that he knows
I would like and gets it for me.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
I think that's so nice.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Now, wait. But is your love language receiving gifts?
Speaker 4 (35:28):
Well, I wouldn't say that's the top one, but I
would say I receive them well and it does mean
something to me.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
I would say more acts of service to me.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
But like Charlie hears me if I'm stressed and he
completely takes over. Whatever needs to be handled that he
knows that I'm stressed about or whatever. Make sure my
life is even in the ways he can control. And
I feel so seen and loved. That to me is
so romantic. I'm like, oh, this person is the only
(36:02):
human being in the world who knows.
Speaker 5 (36:03):
Me like this. That is romantic to me.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
They can do it before you even... Ask for it
or think about it. They just see it and they
jump in.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
Plus, he's so funny. He makes me laugh all the time.
I love it. That is romantic to me.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
Okay. Amen.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
And he's so cute. He's so cute.
Speaker 1 (36:22):
Vic, what is romance?
Speaker 7 (36:24):
Well, everything Kelly said, the laughter is huge.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
It has always been to me. And my wife's sense
of humor is amazing.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (36:32):
And whether she's laughing at me or making me laugh.
You know, either way.
Speaker 6 (36:38):
But, you know, it's that.
Speaker 7 (36:42):
Excitement of love.
Speaker 9 (36:45):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
You know. Whatever your definition is.
Speaker 7 (36:50):
You know, we all know what it is, but I
don't know how you give it a definition.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
I was thinking about this.
Speaker 7 (36:54):
It's hard to give it a definition.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
I was thinking about this.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
And one of the reasons I came to the conclusion
that it's obviously different for everyone and everyone has their
own opinion about romance. Yeah. Because I, again, agree with
what you said. I try and make Nora's life as
easy as possible.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:11):
And it's felt.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
For the most part.
Speaker 7 (37:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
I agree. Laughter is a huge part of our relationship.
But what got me thinking, what is romance? Romance, to me,
is breaking the bed.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
So it's sex for you.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
No.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
Well, see, here's the thing.
Speaker 7 (37:29):
Sex comes from romance. It's a byproduct of romance.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Breaking the bed... In more than one way. Because, yes,
I agree. There has to be a physical connection there.
And hopefully you're getting the best you've ever had. You're
not thinking of someone else or trying to step out
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
That's great.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
But I think about two months ago. When Nora got
out of bed and I jumped up behind her, picked
her up, and suplexed her right out of the bed.
She got up, I grabbed her again, I suplexed her
out of the bed. And we heard the entire bed.
Right now we are sleeping on like a V-shaped bed
because it's broken in the middle. But that was us
(38:07):
giggling and laughing and tussling and just having a good time.
So breaking the bed has more than one definition to it. So, yeah,
I'm saying to me... Breaking the bet. Amber says, personally,
romance is being seen, heard, and understood on all levels. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Okay. I agree.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
That makes sense.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Let's see. 800-821-9970, by the way.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
What is romance?
Speaker 1 (38:34):
I would have to define romance as the selfish or
unselfish act of envying being the center of someone's affection.
So you're doing everything you can to be the center
of their affection. Yeah. That's a good definition, Christian. I
like that.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yeah. 800-821-9970.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Doug says, I'm not crying. You're crying.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Aw.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
This is what I want to do, though.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
I want us all to send a text message to
our significant others.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
All three of us, okay?
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
And all we're going to get is one simple question.
Am I romantic?
Speaker 5 (39:06):
Am I romantic?
Speaker 1 (39:07):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
No explanation, no nothing.
Speaker 6 (39:10):
Am I romantic?
Speaker 1 (39:10):
Yes. Am I romantic? And then we're going to send
them right now.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
We've got a song here, right?
Speaker 3 (39:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Okay, we're going to play a song.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
We're going to come back, and we're going to see
the responses from our significant others about, am I romantic?
Speaker 7 (39:23):
You all can play along at home, too.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Yeah, yes, please. Yeah, text your significant other and ask them,
am I romantic?
Speaker 2 (39:29):
And then give us a call. We want to know
what their response is.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
800-821-9970.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
It's 997 The Blitz. Saw an interesting question online. It
was a very simple question. What is romance? And so
we were trying to define romance. And then I got
to thinking, well, do our significant others think we're romantic?
So we all sent a text. To our significant others,
just a moment ago. Very simple question.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
One question. Am I romantic?
Speaker 1 (39:54):
And we wanted you to do the same, and then
you can call us or let us know your response.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
There is a definition.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (39:59):
It says, a feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
All right. Okay.
Speaker 7 (40:04):
So there is a definition. But it's hard to define, really.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Let's see here. Donnie sent us a picture, a screenshot
of his phone. He texted his wife, Melissa, and said,
am I romantic? Melissa's response was, LOL.
Speaker 9 (40:17):
LOL.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
Oops. Max, hello.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Hey, Max. You sent the Am I Romantic text to
your wife?
Speaker 3 (40:28):
I did.
Speaker 4 (40:29):
And I think her response was quite funny.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
Her response immediately, sometimes. That's it.
Speaker 7 (40:38):
Sometimes. Sometimes.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Sometimes.
Speaker 5 (40:41):
All right.
Speaker 7 (40:42):
That's probably most men.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
I kind of have a feeling that I might get
somewhere around the same response from Nora.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
I appreciate the call, Max. Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Kelly, let's start with you. Just a pitter-patter of the
hard butterflies in your stomach as you were talking about
Charlie and all the things he does for you.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
You text him, am I romantic?
Speaker 3 (41:01):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
He said, do we have candlelight dinners?
Speaker 3 (41:03):
No.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
No.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
But we are always smooching and hugging and nuzzing and
touching after 23 years of marriage.
Speaker 5 (41:09):
So, yes. Yay!
Speaker 1 (41:11):
That's a great breakdown. Smooching and snuzzling and cuddling and touching. Right.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Sounds like a song from Ariel Speedwagon or something.
Speaker 7 (41:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
Smooching and snuggling and sluzzling.
Speaker 9 (41:22):
Journey.
Speaker 7 (41:23):
Love and touching and squeezing.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
That's right. Vic, did you get a response? Boom. Am
I romantic? Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (41:30):
With an exclamation mark.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Look at that. Okay. Let's see. I text Nora. Am
I romantic? Why are you laughing?
Speaker 7 (41:40):
Because she's so funny. I'm expecting funny, so I'm laughing
ahead of time.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
That's a real dick move. You shouldn't be laughing at me.
She's texting my fiance, the woman I'm marrying, in a week,
in a day.
Speaker 7 (41:49):
She's a funny woman.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Am I romantic? Oh, I got a two-part answer.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
See what I mean?
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
That's part number one.
Speaker 7 (41:56):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Part number two.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
In your own way.
Speaker 5 (42:00):
In your own way.
Speaker 7 (42:02):
Okay, wait a minute. Goose way.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
Hold on a second. Okay. I got to know. I
got to know. Because Thicke got an absolutely with an
exclamation point.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
You got an exclamation point. I got an absolutely with details.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Yeah, you got details in yours. And I just got
in your own way. I want to know what that means.
Speaker 5 (42:22):
Let's find out.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
I want to see if she brings up something I'm
thinking about. Okay. Because I'm thinking about a very particular,
specific thing, and I want to see if she brings
it up or not. Okay. Because if she doesn't, I'm
going to be a little perturbed. But I can totally
see her answer in your own way. Bunny?
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Hi.
Speaker 7 (42:42):
Hi. Hi.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
What does in your own way mean?
Speaker 7 (42:46):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (42:49):
In your own way.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Because Thicke got an answer. Thicke's answer from Heather was absolutely.
And Charlie told Kelly absolutely with we're still loving and
touching and hugging after 23 years. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
So....
Speaker 10 (43:06):
I mean, it's not rose petals and champagne, but you
have your ways.
Speaker 5 (43:12):
Like the suplex on the bed.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
That's romantic. I break the bed in more ways than one.
That's romantic.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (43:23):
He gives you a little cut off the top of
his casino winnings. Now that's romance.
Speaker 7 (43:27):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (43:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (43:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
But how many people did we tell about the secret
trip to Miami where I just left you a note,
you had to get up and get dressed?
Speaker 7 (43:38):
That was freaking romantic, dude.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
And people were losing their mind. One woman showed it
to her husband and.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
Be like, you would never do something like that.
Speaker 7 (43:47):
That was romance maxing right there. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:50):
Yes, and you crying at the unlike Christmas tree in
New York City.
Speaker 7 (43:54):
Oh, that was just hysterical.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
Falling my eyes out because I couldn't provide her the
view of the Rockefeller Center tree because it wasn't lit yet.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Yes. Yes.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
Now... The gummy may have kicked in a little bit
at that point, but I was still very upset.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
I was very sad about it.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
The sentiment is that you want to provide lovely things
for Nora, and you were kind of.
Speaker 7 (44:16):
Blocked from doing that. Yeah, that's romance.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
All right.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
I'll take that answer.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (44:20):
In his own way.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
In my own way. That's right. That's right. And then
I'll go and break your spatula by rolling a golf
cart on top of you. So, you know.
Speaker 7 (44:30):
Hey, Nora, you got eight days. How are you feeling?
Speaker 3 (44:35):
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
I'm good. Time out.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Whoa, hang on.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
That did not sound excited at all. That ended with
a question mark. I don't know about that. And now
you're stuttering. This is making it even worse. What is
happening right now? Listen, I'm in the middle of picking
up a sick kid from school, and I've got three
(45:01):
outstanding packages.
Speaker 5 (45:02):
Once all of this calms down, I'll be fine.
Speaker 3 (45:04):
Fine.
Speaker 7 (45:05):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
Great.
Speaker 7 (45:06):
It's not you.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
No.
Speaker 7 (45:08):
It's not you, Goose.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
Right.
Speaker 7 (45:09):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (45:10):
So you really need your romantic husband-to-be to just slide
in and take care of other things today because you're
super stressed right now.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
I have asked. I've asked. We were golfing yesterday and
she had her laptop out and is looking over and
she has, I think it's up to like four pages
now of like, breakdown of day before, day of.
Speaker 3 (45:32):
Oh, to-do?
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Yeah. What are we.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Doing on Monday?
Speaker 1 (45:35):
This is getting packed. And I'm just like, I'm going
to go golf that morning and throw my suit on
and show up. But anything you need help with, after
12 o'clock, after my tea time.
Speaker 7 (45:48):
Oh, my gosh.
Speaker 5 (45:49):
Make sure she doesn't load a laundry for you day before,
will you?
Speaker 3 (45:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (45:52):
Yeah. The dishes will be done.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
And make sure to pack my sandwich.
Speaker 3 (45:58):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
Anyways, all right.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
In your own way.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
All right. Yeah, exactly. In my own way.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
I love you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
Bye-bye.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
I love you, buddy.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
Good.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
I'll take 10 hands.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
The look on Kelly's face is, I mean, I get it.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
But how does anyone really love him? That doesn't make sense.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
The look on your face is confused.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
The look on my face is, this works so well,
you don't even know it.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
But you could never. No, that's not what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (46:29):
That's not what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (46:31):
You're not alone. I've heard the exact words. From Kelly,
I could never, ever be married to you, Vic.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Ever.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
No way. Thank God someone snagged you.
Speaker 5 (46:41):
That's good, though. Wouldn't it be super awkward in here
if I was like her?
Speaker 1 (46:46):
Yeah, it would be very awkward.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
You're right.
Speaker 9 (46:47):
And now, the three things you need to know before
you go.
Speaker 4 (46:53):
Ohio will receive $ 319 million from META over the next
decade as part of an historic $ 17 billion multi-state settlement.
The only states not involved in the settlement are Florida, Texas.
Speaker 5 (47:05):
And New Mexico.
Speaker 4 (47:07):
The settlement stems from the claim that Meta designed its
social media platforms to intentionally hook young users while exposing
them to harm. Meta has also agreed to enact new
safety measures for children, including a daily time limit of
two hours a day with mandatory pauses after 15 minutes.
Speaker 5 (47:25):
Of continuous use.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
They say they will control content about harmful topics like
eating disorders, self-harm, suicide, No beauty filters. But here's the
fine print. In order for this settlement to move forward,
Meta says that TikTok and YouTube have to agree to
the same safety measures and the same financial penalty. In
(47:49):
other words, good luck getting.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
This money out of us.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:52):
Or any type of change to our platforms. I mean, okay.
Speaker 5 (47:57):
Their point is.
I get the point. It's like, well, if we're going
to do it.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
Yes. No, I'm not totally. I don't think they're totally wrong.
Speaker 4 (48:07):
But the thing is, the lawsuit was against you. And
you're like, we'll deal with them separately.
Speaker 9 (48:13):
Right.
Speaker 5 (48:13):
We're dealing with your company first.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
You know who's the real winner here? The producers and
Aaron Sorkin of the new movie, The Social... The sequel?
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Yeah, what's it called?
Speaker 5 (48:25):
Yeah, what is that called?
Speaker 1 (48:27):
The Social Experiment? Social Reckoning. It's called The Social Reckoning.
Because it deals with this exact thing, an investigative reporter
looking into the changing of algorithms and how they are
literally manipulating people to make it more addictive and things
like that. And the way court cases work out and
the way movies are made, it's so crazy that it's
coming out or will be coming out shortly right after
(48:49):
this whole thing. So they're getting some free privacy. Free publicity.
They just released a new trailer that you can go watch.
It looks interesting.
Speaker 6 (48:58):
So are all these things that they're going to do,
are these things that they are being ordered to do
or that they just voluntarily said, well, we'll do these things?
Speaker 5 (49:06):
Yeah, this was a settlement.
Speaker 4 (49:07):
And a part of the settlement, they agreed to this.
Only if TikTok and YouTube agree to the same things.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Yeah, so they sat down and talked about it.
Speaker 6 (49:16):
They're all social media, so if you're going to make
rules for one.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
Right, but like you said, deal with them on their
own time. We'll have another trial or another case about
this and we'll settle with them.
Speaker 4 (49:27):
Yeah, I suppose we'll go one by one and everybody's
got to do the thing. Testimony in the Lindsay Clancy
murder trial in Massachusetts is over and closing arguments will
begin today.
Speaker 5 (49:37):
Jury deliberations expected to begin tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (49:40):
Clancy has admitted to strangling her three young children in 2023,
but has pleaded not guilty, saying she had postpartum psychosis. Boy,
has that trial taken on an enormous life.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
Of its own.
Speaker 5 (49:51):
Very, very odd situation that has happened in society over this.
But anyway, if you know, you know. If not, who cares, right?
But we'll see.
Speaker 4 (50:02):
Well, you know, it's one of those things you can
really go down a rabbit hole with this thing.
Speaker 5 (50:07):
And then people like certain.
Speaker 4 (50:09):
A mass of women blaming the husband and saying that
he did it and framed her.
Speaker 5 (50:15):
And it's like a crazy situation.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
All right.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
There were some very tense moments in the air on
a flight from Los Angeles to Boston on Tuesday. Air
traffic recordings captured a Delta captain alerting the tower that
he needed to make an emergency landing because he had
to get to the hospital.
Speaker 1 (50:32):
Anytime now. So this happened mid-flight. The plane made an
emergency landing in Detroit.
Speaker 5 (50:40):
The captain was taken off the plane and taken right
to the hospital.
Speaker 4 (50:59):
Another crew boarded the plane and the flight continued to Boston.
It only landed 90 minutes late. Can you believe that? Now,
you got to applaud Delta for that. No word on
how this pilot is doing, what his condition was, but
he sounded sick.
Speaker 1 (51:12):
Yeah, something was not good inside.
Speaker 5 (51:14):
He's like, oh, Delta.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
Oh, could you just imagine being on that flight?
Speaker 9 (51:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
Uh, attention, ladies and gentlemen, we're going to be cruising
at an altitude of, uh, Oh, what do you do
when you just hear the pilot or, or, or, uh, Attention,
ladies and gentlemen. We're going to be cruising at a... Oh,
(51:45):
it's happening.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
Oh, God.
Speaker 7 (51:49):
It's happening.
Speaker 5 (51:50):
Here it comes.
Speaker 1 (51:52):
All right.
Speaker 5 (51:52):
Those are your three things.
Speaker 7 (51:55):
Oh, no.
Speaker 1 (51:59):
We'll get to not-so-breaking news here in a couple moments,
but I have to share this story with you, and
this is a very special WTF. What the Florida? Castleberry, Florida,
is having themselves a bit of a problem. And they're
having a disco chicken problem. Remember yesterday we called peacocks
disco chickens? Yeah. I love that name. I just want
(52:21):
to call them disco chickens from now on. They're having
themselves a peacock problem. Now, here's the thing. Peacocks are
protected in this certain area of Castleberry, Florida. Because, back
in 2017, they had a bird sanctuary. Basically, the city passed,
or this area passed, a bird sanctuary. In order to
(52:44):
create a section that was intended to provide a sanctuary
for birds and peafowl, as they're called, within the city.
They were down to like 10 peacocks. Which, at that point,
they started to get a little worried. So they said, okay,
we're going to protect them.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
And it worked.
Speaker 1 (53:00):
Because peacocks started mating, breeding. I didn't realize this. They
can lay like eight to ten eggs at a time.
Speaker 7 (53:07):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (53:08):
So now the problem is the peacocks that are protected
are now turning into a nuisance because there's too many.
They have now had another city hall meeting this past
Monday to hear about scratched cars, damaged pool screens. poop
in the yard, birds on roofs, screams in the middle
of the night, whatever that peacock call is. Oh, boy.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
Right in the middle of the night.
Speaker 1 (53:32):
Feathers everywhere. So now they don't know what to do.
Speaker 5 (53:35):
Well, bring in some bobcats.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
That is a possibility.
Speaker 6 (53:40):
You know, when they made it illegal to hunt Canadian geese,
then we got a ton of Canadian geese everywhere.
Speaker 1 (53:49):
Well, they said the problem is protection without management. So, yeah,
we're protecting them, but we're not managing the problem if
they're just running free. So what are they going to do? Well,
they're not saying they're going to run around and let
people just start, you know, plowing over or shooting peacocks.
But they are looking at measures to, you know, safely
(54:10):
remove them, get them to zoos, get them to other sanctuaries.
Speaker 5 (54:14):
You could do a peacock sterilization program.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Oh, you could.
Speaker 5 (54:19):
You know, like half the males you sterilize and then
tag them.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
Yeah. So they know which ones they are. Slow it
down a little bit.
Speaker 3 (54:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (54:28):
I'm just spitballing here, trying to help.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
How long do they take to hatch? Can you find
the nest and take the eggs somewhere? Or is that
going to bother the whole family unit? I don't know
how the peacock family unit works.
Speaker 7 (54:40):
We had a story not too long ago. There's an
operation that's going to take place.
Speaker 6 (54:44):
Are they going to shoot deer around Westerville?
Speaker 5 (54:47):
Yeah, they do it in Worthington and Dublin.
Speaker 1 (54:50):
Yeah, but you can't go shooting around peacocks. Well, I mean,
they do it with the geese, too. There's nothing worse
than having that kind of issue.
Speaker 6 (54:59):
I wonder if peacock tastes good.
Speaker 7 (55:04):
Oh, good question.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (55:05):
You could feed people with them.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Could you?
Speaker 3 (55:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
It's a bird.
Speaker 7 (55:09):
It's a chicken. It's a disco chicken.
Speaker 1 (55:11):
Turkey. Chicken. Quail. I don't know. Yeah. Unfortunately, Castleberry, Florida,
they've got themselves a cock-a-bock. Peacock debacle.
Speaker 7 (55:25):
Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 1 (55:26):
It was funny. Okay, thanks. Thanks.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
Thank you for the affirmation.
Speaker 5 (55:31):
Yeah, no, it was funny.
Speaker 3 (55:32):
I got it.
Speaker 1 (55:32):
Yeah, it was funny. Thank you.
Speaker 9 (55:34):
Not so breaking news. The news already broke. We're trying
to put it back together.
Speaker 1 (55:41):
We've talked a lot lately about cameras and surveillance. In fact,
we were just talking yesterday about cameras everywhere. People are
really mad at the whole flock camera situation. I get it.
They're kind of being used in some spots for nefarious reasons.
But the whole I don't want to be videotaped argument,
(56:01):
you're being videotaped everywhere. That's just all there is to it.
Now here's the problem. There have been some videos we've
seen where people are destroying flock cameras. I was describing
one guy who said, look, do not destroy flock cameras.
Do not take your bandsaw and cut it right here
(56:23):
at the bottom of the base to make sure that
you hit the wires properly. Do not dismantle this part.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
Do not approach the camera from this angle so that
you can't be seen.
Speaker 1 (56:34):
Now, here's the problem. It's a camera. So if you're
not happy about it, and if you decide to take
matters into your own hands, rule number one, sneak up
on it from behind.
Speaker 5 (56:48):
Right.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
Because we have got ourselves a man in Phoenix who
is now being jailed after he was caught on camera
damaging one of those photo radar systems. It's not a
flock camera, but it's one of those ticketed, you know,
traffic cams that'll catch you speeding by. Brandon Rubinera was
arrested this week on one felony card of criminal damage.
Here's the thing. They've got video of the guy. He
(57:11):
walks up and he is face first into the camera.
He's like squinting. He's like looking at the camera like... Yeah,
I don't like this. I'm going to handle this. Zero
issue identifying the man because he is just full face
right there in front of the camera.
Speaker 4 (57:29):
Have you seen those people that'll grab a doorbell camera off?
Speaker 5 (57:33):
It's like.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
The mound right there?
Speaker 5 (57:35):
Yeah, they'll just like... I'm like, you know, I've already
got you recorded on my phone.
Speaker 4 (57:39):
By the time you reach the doorbell camera, it's too late.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
Yeah, the problem is he was seen stopping his car,
getting out, He pushed the camera over. And again, they
see him walk up to the camera. But he pushed
it over. And then police obviously saw what happened. They
went and fixed it. But then he came back a
short time later and caused more damage with a baseball
bat and used a strap to break it down.
Speaker 7 (58:04):
Like, they've got you.
Speaker 1 (58:06):
Dude.
Speaker 3 (58:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (58:07):
They watched the whole thing unfold.
Speaker 5 (58:10):
Got your license plate.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
You gotta do better. You gotta do better. Story number
two takes us over to Tulsa, Oklahoma. And, well... Let
me just play you the local news report.
Speaker 10 (58:21):
Tulsa police are searching for the man in these photos
who they say has been smearing human feces on some
businesses near 81st and Harvard. Officers say they've responded to
the area several times but haven't been able.
Speaker 5 (58:33):
To track him down yet.
Speaker 10 (58:35):
Anyone with any information is asked to call Tulsa Crime
Stoppers at 918-596.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
Now here's the problem. Yes, that is a problem. This
man is seen on video. He's got himself like a
Kroger plastic bag. My man is just pooping in the bag.
At least he's got enough sense not to poop in
his hand and smear it.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
He's pooping in a bag.
Speaker 1 (58:56):
But at the end of the report, as you heard
from local authorities, anyone with information, please come forward because
they have yet to find the man. This man is
walking around in nothing but a thong. and a cheap
COVID surgical mask, the blue ones, but it's cut across
the middle so it's like a duck mouth. His mouth
(59:18):
is exposed. And he's wearing a black kind of beanie
hair dresser thing. How can you not find this man?
Speaker 3 (59:27):
Man.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
And I don't mean this in any way, but this
is an African-American man in Oklahoma. Hello?
Speaker 7 (59:38):
Did they get their shots with a flock camera?
Speaker 1 (59:40):
They did not. It doesn't look like it.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
No.
Speaker 1 (59:42):
This is the security footage. But, yeah, this man is
in a thong.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
And here's the other thing. He's not a tiny man.
In fact, Thick thought he was naked because you really
can't see the thong. That thing is eaten up.
Speaker 7 (59:56):
It's all in the creases.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
Oh, yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
When somebody's at that level of, like, they're that sort
of disturbed, you know they know their way around the woods.
Speaker 5 (01:00:07):
That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
That's true. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
They know where to hide.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
He spent some time out there before. So, anyways, if
you know anyone in Tulsa, keep an eye out for
the cut COVID mask thong wearing poop smearer.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
Serial.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Serial poop smearer. It's your not-so-breaking news. I want to
share a story I wasn't sure I was going to
share because I have a feeling there might be a
little judgment. But you know what?
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
I want to know if anyone else has been in
this position because I feel bad. I feel terrible about
what happened. So Wednesdays. are normally our golf days. Nora
works half a day, so we can usually hit the
golf course by noon, and it's the midday golf I
get in, and usually one round on the weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
And yesterday, we had a tee time. It was a
little bit earlier than normal.
Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
It was 11.13, and so I knew I had to
get home and change, and she also informed me that
she had a meeting at 10 o'clock that was probably
going to go until about 10.30 on Zoom and stuff
like that. It's fine. She asked me if I can get,
I had forgotten to get some Takis at the grocery
store for the boys, and she wanted a sugar-free Red Bull.
So I'm saying, sure. I leave work. I drive directly home.
(01:01:21):
I pull into the driveway. I get out of the car,
and I go, oh, son of a bitch. I forgot
her things.
Speaker 7 (01:01:27):
Oh, here we go again.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:01:28):
Back to Kroger.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
So I ran across the street to Kroger. Kept my
head real low. I was looking down the entire time.
Zero eye contact. But I grabbed the things I needed.
And I get home and I walk in. I hear,
and now it's 1040-ish. And I hear her still on
Zoom meeting. And I'm like, oof, we got to go.
(01:01:51):
So I go to walk in the kitchen to put
stuff down. And I look in the living room and
see on the floor, I see a whole bunch of
white things. Small white things. And as you get closer
and I poke them, it's hard plastic. And there's a
lot of them. And there on the couch is Birdie
just looking at me. And I was like, what did
(01:02:12):
you get into? So I start picking up more pieces.
And then I find the big piece. And the big
piece is gnawed and ripped and chewed. And I really
can't make it out. And right next to the big
piece is this kind of longer piece that looks exactly
like a nozzle. And as I roll the big piece over,
it's got a label on it. And it was definitely
(01:02:32):
a nose spray piece.
Speaker 5 (01:02:34):
Okay, so it's like a canister, a nozzle.
Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
Yeah, a little plastic.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
It wasn't Flonase, but it was one of those things.
Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
So the first thing I do is Google it.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
And Afrin, I think, is the name of the major
chemical inside of nose decongestants that help you.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Straight toxic to dogs. The whole Google search said.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Yep, go to the ER, do not induce vomiting, call
the dog poison control center, and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
I don't believe this. Now, here's the problem.
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
We are beyond... We're eating ramen for the next few days.
Speaker 7 (01:03:15):
Oh, you're tapped out.
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
Yeah, we got a wedding in eight days. We have
now paid for everything, but now we're.
Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
Yeah, you're watching it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
We're watching it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
I don't have a ton of money in the bank.
Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
The credit cards are pretty much full from paying for
the wedding.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
What I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Have is $ 2, 000, $ 2, 500, $ 3, 000 right now, which is what
an ER via vet visit costs. I mean, you're $ 1, 500
walking in the door at an ER, at a vet ER.
So we went golfing. Took a chance. What am I
going to do?
Speaker 5 (01:03:57):
She looked fine.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
She did. She was still running around.
Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
She wasn't, like, laying there panting and drooling.
Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
She wasn't drooling. She wasn't shaking. You know, none of
that stuff. It did say that this kind of stuff
will interact quickly. And Nora has no idea when it
happened because she was upstairs on the Zoom. And Birdie,
as she does, was laying on the couch or playing
or whatever. And here she is. No idea where it
came from. We don't have a medicine cabinet in the
living room. The doors are shut. Like, where did this
(01:04:25):
medicine come from?
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:04:27):
Did you ask the boys?
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
They didn't? Maybe she did. And Birdie's fine. But, you know,
Nora was a little concerned. I said, what are we
going to do? Sit in the living room and just
stare at her until something maybe happens or not? Because, again, if,
God forbid, something did happen, I'd have been out back
with a shovel. There's no choice. There was no choice.
(01:04:50):
And I felt awful. Now, by the ninth hole, which,
by the way, yesterday I played... I tied the best
round I've ever played in my life.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
So you need a little bit of fear in your
soul about what you're going to come.
Speaker 1 (01:05:04):
Home and find. Yeah. I was really talking to Nora,
and I'm like, great golf game. Dead dog. Like, what
are you? Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:05:13):
You win some, you lose some. You're right.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
Exactly. It's a scale of justice there, right? I mean, honestly,
I felt so bad. Kelly, if you've ever... You're a
dog owner.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:05:25):
I'll just tell you a latest thing that happened. And
this was, I want to say, a couple years ago
with Moses. So he was about two years old. And
we have our... My in-law's over pretty regularly. We gather
and do holidays and things like that.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
Well, my dog loves to root through my brother-in-law John's stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
He puts it in the same spot. He sleeps in
the same room. And he... If he leaves the door open,
forget it. Moses is in there grabbing shoes, whatever he
can find.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
Uh-huh. All right?
Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
So at some point, I saw a chewed-up thing of
Trident gum.
Speaker 5 (01:06:01):
And Xylitol is deadly to dogs.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:06:04):
And there were teeth marks in it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
And I looked in, and there were probably three pieces
of gum missing.
Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
And I'm like, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
So I'm starting to like panic. And I asked John,
I'm like, did you eat it? Was this a full
pack of gum? And he's like, uh, I'm not sure.
And so I'm telling Charlie, I'm trying to be quiet
with Charlie.
Speaker 5 (01:06:24):
Like, what are we going to do?
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
Like, I'm worried this dog's going to die if he
consumes Xylitol. And Charlie, who's got a very, he's very
cool headed. He's like, We'll just keep an eye on
him because everything you look up is like, take this event,
take this dog to the vet immediately. And like you said, it's,
you know, you're a thousand bucks walking in the door
besides all the, you know, whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:06:47):
Right. Exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
So we just kept an eye on him.
Speaker 4 (01:06:49):
And I think that's sort of the way you have
to handle emergencies. You know, unless there's a limb hanging,
you know, and there's no doubt he needs an emergency visit.
Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
Right. It's like having a toddler and new parents always
run to the doctor for everything.
Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
And it's like, right, you don't have to run to
the doctor for everything. Now, I felt the carpet where
the plastic was, the carpet was a little wet.
Speaker 5 (01:07:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
So I'm hoping what I think happened is the initial puncture.
Speaker 5 (01:07:13):
It just discharged.
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
And it kind of leaked out or whatever off the side.
Speaker 6 (01:07:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
So she didn't get a bunch of it.
Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
That's probably what happened.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
But yeah, it felt awful.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
But what are you going to do?
Speaker 4 (01:07:21):
I think you have to assess it. Are they showing
any signs of distress? And if not, why are you
going to spend an extra $ 1, 000, $ 1, 500 unnecessarily? I don't
hate you for it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
Thank you for letting me ask.
Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
No, I've done the same thing.
Speaker 7 (01:07:36):
Terry said for future reference, get pet insurance. It's so
worth it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
I've looked into that. I definitely have. How much is it?
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
People will always say, go to the vet immediately.
Speaker 5 (01:07:46):
Get pet insurance. I get it, and it is a
great idea, but it's another bill.
Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
It is another bill. You're still paying $ 20, whatever it is,
for maybe a visit.
Speaker 4 (01:07:56):
It's just healthcare, and especially, not especially vet care, but
vet care along with human healthcare, it has really been
taken over by corporations.
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
And it is just insane. Crazy expensive.
Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
We looked at a teeth cleaning for Moses. It was
going to be over $ 1, 000 to clean his teeth.
Speaker 7 (01:08:16):
Can't you do that?
Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
Really?
Speaker 7 (01:08:18):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
They, like, put them out and do the, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:08:21):
They get all the tartar and everything off their teeth.
Speaker 7 (01:08:23):
Oh, like a real dentist visit.
Speaker 4 (01:08:25):
A real dental visit. Last time I took a dog
for a teeth cleaning, it was $ 300.
Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
Over $ 1, 000.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Exactly, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
That's nuts.
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
That's crazy. It's the morning blitz.
Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
It's time.
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Rock and rumble. Kelly versus Goose on The Blitz. Zucchini
Fest starts a week from tomorrow, runs through the entire weekend,
September 4th through Monday the 7th. Front of stage access passes,
free swag, couple of ride passes all thrown in for you.
If you want to play, 800-821-9977.
Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
800-821-9970.
Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
We've got another battle between Kelly and I ready to go.
We need two people to play with us.
Speaker 6 (01:09:05):
800-821-9970.
Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
And we'll get you hooked up right now. Of course,
you can visit ObedZucchiniFest.com. Fortress Obed, what a cool place.
Speaker 7 (01:09:16):
I love it out there.
Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
Not that I'm ready to, like, cancel the wedding, but
it did cross my mind that I'm sad that we
will be gone for Zucchini Fest, getting married and doing
the wedding festivities.
Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Bliss, hi, who's this?
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
What up?
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
Good morning, it's Miguel.
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
Hey, Miguel, are you called in first? Your choice. You
want to team with Kelly or Goose? Uh... I think you're.
Speaker 5 (01:09:39):
Due, and we're golfing buddies, so I'm going to go
with you.
Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
That's a good idea, sir. I'm with you. Oh, and
golfing buddies? Yeah, we're definitely winning. All right, Miguel, you
hang on one second for me while we find Kelly
a partner.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
Blitz, hi, who's this?
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Melissa.
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
Melissa, good morning. You are stuck with Kelly this morning.
Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
Hey, Melissa. I feel like you're good luck.
Speaker 6 (01:10:02):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:10:04):
Well, we've got a battle of sex. This is Miguel
and Goose, Melissa and Kelly. Melissa and Miguel, you guys
hang on one second as Kelly and I go head-to-head thick.
What are we playing today?
Speaker 6 (01:10:13):
We are doing a music speed test, and let's see.
Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
You.
Speaker 6 (01:10:18):
Kelly went first last time, so Kelly, we must sequester
you to the green room.
Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
So this is the new music speed test where we're
getting the same songs.
Speaker 7 (01:10:26):
The same list.
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
In 60 seconds, and who can ever name the most,
and one of us is leaving the room into our
quiet little... extra studio over there. Oh, I can't hear anything.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Hold on. Is that....
Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
Turn that speaker around. Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
It's off. Just making sure.
Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
No, she's messing with the knobs now.
Speaker 1 (01:10:50):
No, she's messing with the knobs.
Speaker 6 (01:10:51):
She's an admitted... She's shaking her head no like she
knows what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
Uh-huh.
Speaker 7 (01:10:55):
She's an admitted cheater.
Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
Okay. I'm going to face this way so she can't
hear me.
Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
And I'm going to say I'm real quiet.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
I don't want her to see my voice. My mouth.
She can read lips, I think, so.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
I'm going to hold it up like this.
Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Speed test.
Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
As many songs as we can in 60 seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Stick, what are you doing?
Speaker 7 (01:11:13):
I need a piece of paper.
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
I've got a piece of paper right here.
Speaker 7 (01:11:16):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
Sorry.
Speaker 7 (01:11:17):
I need a piece of paper.
Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
Speed test.
Speaker 1 (01:11:19):
Here we go. As Kelly's waiting patiently over in the studio.
Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
Ready?
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Yeah, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
All right. Here we go.
Speaker 7 (01:11:27):
Start your clock. 60 seconds on the board.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
Baba Booey. Pass.
Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
No.
Speaker 7 (01:11:36):
John Stewart.
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
John Mellencamp. Yes. Hinder. Chevelle.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:11:39):
Al Green.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
No.
Speaker 7 (01:11:39):
Otis Redding.
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
No. Bill Weathers. Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
I didn't say Skib. What are you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
Epic. Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
Rocky Horror Picture Show. Yes. Sweet Transvestite.
Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
Tim Curry. Time Warp Days.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Jesus Christ.
Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Pass.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
Jesus. Bruno Mars. Yes. Billy Joel.
Speaker 9 (01:12:16):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Screw you. Pass.
Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
Time. That was so crappy.
Speaker 7 (01:12:35):
I thought we did it where you guess. If you're wrong,
we go to the next one.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
I didn't say pass. All right. We've guessed multiple times
on multiple songs.
Speaker 7 (01:12:42):
I didn't remember that part.
Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:12:45):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:12:50):
Oh, that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
I can't.
Speaker 7 (01:12:52):
See, Kelly, can you guess by his mood whether.
Speaker 8 (01:12:54):
He's... Uh-oh.
Speaker 5 (01:12:58):
I saw there a little kerfluffle in the middle, but
I couldn't hear anything.
Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
Okay. Oh, no.
Speaker 7 (01:13:05):
Well, he said the name, so I stopped and started
the next one. He goes, I didn't say pass.
Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
He wanted to catch me. Yeah, we guessed multiple times
on a song.
Speaker 7 (01:13:10):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
The second I said something wrong, he switched songs on me,
so I didn't have time to process.
Speaker 4 (01:13:15):
Or guess again.
Speaker 1 (01:13:16):
I usually say no and start the next one.
Speaker 7 (01:13:17):
That's how I've always done it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
No, it is not. It's the first time that's up.
Speaker 7 (01:13:20):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
So we have to say pass if we want to
go to the next one.
Speaker 7 (01:13:23):
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:13:24):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Okay. Understood.
Speaker 5 (01:13:26):
Understood.
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
All right, I'm ready. No, now if she gets it
wrong on the first guess, you have to move on.
She doesn't get multiple guesses at the same song because
you skipped so many songs for me. Oh, okay. I'll
play it this way. If she gets it wrong the
first time, you have to move on to the next song.
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
Okay, that's fair.
Speaker 7 (01:13:42):
On every one or that one?
Speaker 1 (01:13:43):
Yes, on every one. That's what you did to me
until the very end. I got like two songs where
I got a guess.
Speaker 5 (01:13:48):
Okay, that's fine. That's fine. I'll take care in my answers.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
Take as many guesses as you want.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:13:55):
We keep changing it around, and then you still get upset.
Speaker 5 (01:13:58):
Give me my list.
Speaker 7 (01:14:00):
All right, ready?
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Oh, the who? Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
John Mellencamp.
Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Pass. Pass.
Speaker 5 (01:14:23):
Do you want to fake no more?
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
Yes.
Speaker 7 (01:14:29):
It's astounding.
Speaker 5 (01:14:31):
Oh, I don't know. Oh, that's from the movie. What's
in the jinger?
Speaker 7 (01:14:37):
Takes its toll.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
All right. I don't know. Pass.
Speaker 5 (01:14:40):
I know. Don't pretend.
Speaker 3 (01:14:44):
Pass.
Speaker 5 (01:14:45):
Are you kidding?
Speaker 1 (01:14:50):
Oh, Bruno Mars. Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:14:54):
Oh, Billy Joel.
Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (01:14:59):
Oh, Bee Gees.
Speaker 1 (01:15:00):
No. If I can.
Speaker 7 (01:15:01):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Oh, son.
Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
Of a gun.
Speaker 4 (01:15:07):
I don't know who that is.
Speaker 5 (01:15:11):
Oh, I could.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
Have gotten one more in there, but that's okay.
Speaker 7 (01:15:16):
That was Foo Fighters.
Speaker 5 (01:15:17):
Okay, don't feel beaten down, Thicke. It's okay. I'm not mad.
That was a really bad list for me. I obviously
didn't know any of them.
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
You got the front half. I got the second half.
The front half, I.
Speaker 5 (01:15:28):
Oh, boy.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
It's okay.
Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
Hey, we're not going to win all of them, right?
Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
Mm-hmm.
Speaker 5 (01:15:36):
Who won this one?
Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Well, neither of you.
Speaker 7 (01:15:38):
You both got six.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
Oh! All right.
Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
Sudden death. Sudden death.
Speaker 7 (01:15:43):
I'm just playing the next song on the list.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Whoever yells it out.
Speaker 7 (01:15:45):
It's the first person to yell it out, right?
Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Yep. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:15:48):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
All right.
Speaker 7 (01:15:48):
Well, I can't get this one wrong.
Speaker 9 (01:15:51):
Ready?
Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
Stop me now! I'm having such a good time I'm
having a.
Speaker 7 (01:15:57):
Good time Stop me now!
Speaker 5 (01:15:59):
If you wanna have a good time Just give me
a call All right, Melissa.
Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
All right, Melissa. Congratulations.
Speaker 6 (01:16:15):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
Zucchini Fest passes, Front of Stage Access passes, free swag,
and a couple of ride passes. Miguel, I'm not going
to let Thick's ignorance and cheating blame put it on you.
I will give you tickets as well. Okay, Miguel? Dolphin buddies.
There we go.
Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
You guys hang on.
Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
We'll get you those tickets. All right, I'm listening. The
three things you need to know before you go.
Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
Is State officials want to know why it took so
long for authorities to take action in the Vinton County
child abuse case. Governor DeWine announced the review yesterday, saying
officials will be examining what agencies knew about the 16
children living in deplorable conditions and why the situation continued
(01:17:00):
without intervention. I don't know if you've read any of
the details of this. There's a whole separate like article.
uh sex abuse case involving another well you were.
Speaker 1 (01:17:10):
Reporting on this yesterday that this has been going on
since what 2020 you said or.
Speaker 4 (01:17:14):
Something like that yeah they've been under investigation they've been
apparently they were like sort of failing out in uh
any kind of uh education testing one 11 year old
couldn't even say the alphabet uh they knew there was
possibly well oh.
Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
Gosh i don't It's just been going on.
Speaker 7 (01:17:33):
For a long time.
Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
Possible lead poisoning. There were roaches.
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
There was obviously some things that weren't going right in
this home. For years, documented, and how these children were
allowed to stay in these conditions is a big question
that everybody wants to know the answer to.
Speaker 5 (01:17:51):
A report on this is expected by the end of
this year.
Speaker 4 (01:17:54):
A near total lunar eclipse is happening tonight. All phases
should be visible across Ohio, weather permitting. The Earth's shadow
will begin covering the moon shortly after 10.30 tonight with
peak eclipse just after midnight. More than 96% of the
moon will be in shadow with the eclipse ending at
about 3 a.m.
Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
That moon was brilliant.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
It was so cool this morning. As of right now,
completely clear skies, so it's going to be a great
night to see the full lunar eclipse if you're up. Moons!
Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
Spotify says Dolly Parton's music streams have surged significantly after
her death on Tuesday. Total streams increased over 1,200% globally.
It was over 2,300% in the United States. Jolene was
the biggest increase, 630%, while 9to5 increased 620%. Other songs
that rose in streams include Islands in the Stream and
I Will Always.
Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
Love You.
Speaker 5 (01:18:50):
Of course, Parton died following a brief battle with cancer
on Tuesday. And those are your three things.
Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
If you have any plans to go to any fall
festivals and you're trying to get creative and save some
money and you heard the story of people who show
up early and they bury their alcohol or their drugs...
in the ground before the fences go up and whatever,
you know, big field, they're going to fence off for
the festival. And then you're going to go and you're
going to dig the stuff up. Once you get inside
the festival and you can enjoy your time. Uh, well,
(01:19:17):
police have caught on. They've heard the stories. They know
what's up now. And let me tell you, uh, there
was just a bust in cream fields, which is a
big music festival that takes place in Daresbury, uh, in
over in England. Uh, the, uh, August bank holiday weekend
(01:19:37):
and Cheshire constabulary. And here's the thing. 80,000 music fans
are expected to show up, uh, beginning today actually is
when it kicks off and it runs through next Monday. Well, um,
here's the deal. Security staff and police officers have heard
the stories of the whole burying of the alcohol and
the burying of the drugs. So they did a full
(01:20:00):
sweep the other day of the fairgrounds with police officers
and with police dogs, with metal detectors, and man, oh man,
someone was ready to make some money because they found
so much stuff. I'm trying to see a breakdown here. Oh,
(01:20:22):
here we go. 204 canisters of nitrous oxide.
Speaker 7 (01:20:26):
Oh, that's not just a bottle of alcohol.
Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
No. Oh, wow.
Speaker 3 (01:20:30):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
Large bags, and I'm talking duffel bags of ecstasy. Oh, yeah.
And DMA and ketamine tablets.
Speaker 7 (01:20:38):
Yeah, this is a drug dealer.
Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
They put this out on a tarp, and it's mind-blowing
to see it all laid side by side.
Speaker 7 (01:20:46):
This was all buried in one hole?
Speaker 1 (01:20:47):
No, they had it scattered throughout. Yeah, they had it
scattered throughout. But, again, they swept the entire fairground. So, yeah,
if that's your plan, just know that police are on
to you now. Not going to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
Coming up, Dusty Slay, very funny comedian. He's going to
be coming to the Southern Theater on September 11th. And
tickets are available now. We got a chance to talk
to him yesterday after the show. We put the full
podcast interview up on our podcast page there at TheBlitz.com.
Great guy to talk to. And I really want to
(01:21:20):
go see the show. In fact, I'm going to hit
him up because there was some chatter.
Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:21:25):
I made a joke that if your opener... doesn't show
up that I'd fill in. And he goes, well, shoot
me a message.
Speaker 7 (01:21:31):
Well, he also wanted to get together and hang out.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
Yeah, talk about getting you on the show. So I'm
going to do that.
Speaker 7 (01:21:37):
That'd be a great show for you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
If you want to hear the interview, you can jump
on our Blitz page and check out the podcast. But
here's a little snippet. How do you feel about someone
worth $ 8. 5 billion, the owner of an NFL team, picking
up a hooker in Ohio in a trailer park?
Speaker 7 (01:21:54):
For $ 140.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
I mean, that seems wild.
Speaker 1 (01:21:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:21:59):
I mean, listen, I don't know where you get hookers,
but I would think with $ 8 billion or whatever, you
could find a better spot.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
I would think so.
Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
You know what?
Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
Maybe.
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
He's just got a thing, you know, I guess. And
maybe he's like, you know, trying to lift somebody up.
He goes, hey, the classy ones, they're making a lot
of money. But I'm trying to. Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
I'm here to help the little people. I'm trying to
lift them up.
Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Maybe it's a charitable thing. I'm not familiar with stories,
but maybe it's a charitable thing, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:22:33):
Yeah, the owner of the San Francisco 49ers was just
caught the other day Yeah, 9.30 in the morning. He
was trying to pick up a hooker in a trailer
park here just outside of Columbus, Ohio, not far from
the border there.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
You know, funny comic Ralph Barbosa, he has a joke
where he says people always say they want to save
a stripper. They're always like, oh, I want to save her.
Speaker 9 (01:22:54):
And he's like.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
She don't want to be saved. Why don't you save
the girl working at Kroger?
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
That's the one that wants to be saved. Yes.
Speaker 8 (01:23:02):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
Maybe that's this guy. This guy's like, you know what?
The girl in Vegas, she's loving this.
Speaker 1 (01:23:08):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:23:09):
Was she even a hooker if he got caught? Was
she just a girl hanging out at 930?
Speaker 1 (01:23:12):
No, you know what it was, actually? It was a
sting operation. He jumped online and actually went to a
website that is famous for offering hookers and things like that,
but it turns out it was the police and it
was a full-blown sting operation. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
He got bamboozled.
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
I don't have $ 8 million, but I got to think
you could find somebody to vet it.
Speaker 1 (01:23:31):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
With that much money.
Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
You would think.
Speaker 7 (01:23:34):
You think you could have a beautiful girl delivered to
your home.
Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
You're a courier, so it's not even your name on
the website.
Speaker 9 (01:23:40):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:23:40):
Pay someone to sign up and bring them to you.
Speaker 7 (01:23:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Why not just on Tinder? Hey, I own the 49ers.
Speaker 1 (01:23:47):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
Everybody's swiping on you.
Speaker 7 (01:23:50):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
Even the guys.
Speaker 7 (01:23:52):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:23:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:23:54):
Dusty, thank you so much. Cannot wait. September 11th at
Southern Theater. The Neighborhood Guide Tour coming to town. Check
out Wet Heat on Netflix. A couple specials on YouTube.
Book coming out in November. Cannot wait to see you, man.
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
I appreciate it. Now, let's see if we can learn
you something. Sit up and pay attention. Yeah, let's learn
you some stuff on a Thursday morning. Make you a
little bit smarter than you were when you woke up today. Like,
did you know the first CD that was ever sold
in the U.S.? Pop quiz, hotshot. Do you know the
(01:24:28):
first CD that was ever sold in the United States?
Speaker 7 (01:24:31):
What was ever sold?
Speaker 3 (01:24:32):
1984.
Speaker 1 (01:24:32):
Big album in 1984. 1984.
Speaker 3 (01:24:38):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
Not Van Halen?
Speaker 1 (01:24:39):
Not Van Halen. 1984.
Speaker 7 (01:24:44):
Is that Michael Jackson?
Speaker 2 (01:24:45):
Sexy, sexy butt on the cover.
Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
Of the album. Oh.
Speaker 7 (01:24:51):
Oh, God. I can't.
Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
Got a red handkerchief.
Speaker 1 (01:24:54):
Yes. Butt bucket.
Speaker 7 (01:24:56):
Is that Rolling Stones?
Speaker 3 (01:24:59):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
Bruce Springsteen.
Speaker 7 (01:25:01):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
Born in the USA.
Speaker 7 (01:25:02):
Yes, yes, yes. What was the first CD you ever bought?
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
Oh.
Speaker 7 (01:25:07):
Oh, you don't know?
Speaker 3 (01:25:08):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
Oh, I know it well. I remember getting my first
tapes from my brother for my birthday, and it was
Salt-N-Pepa Push It. And I want to say it was
DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince was the other one,
I believe. Or maybe Fat Boys. No, I think it
(01:25:30):
was Fat Boys and Push It.
Speaker 7 (01:25:31):
Fat Boys.
Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
Yeah. The human beatbox. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:25:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:25:35):
And they were doing their version of the Beach Boys song.
Speaker 7 (01:25:38):
Yeah. Wipe Out.
Speaker 2 (01:25:39):
Wipe Out.
Speaker 7 (01:25:39):
Yeah, I remember that. Yeah, I got Ozzy, The Ultimate Sin.
Speaker 1 (01:25:43):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:25:43):
That was my first CD.
Speaker 1 (01:25:46):
Did you know cats are the serial killers of the
animal world? They are responsible for killing off at least
33 species of bird, mammals, and reptiles.
Speaker 7 (01:25:54):
Easy to believe.
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
Like they wipe them out.
Speaker 7 (01:25:56):
And they're working on humans. You know they're thinking about it.
They're planning it.
Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
Did you know Blu-rays debuted in 2006? It's 20 years
old now. Blu-rays are 20 years old. By comparison, the
DVD debuted in 1997. So it was the premiere format
for less than 10 years. That's how fast things were changing,
and it's getting even faster now. Did you know Billy
Joel was in a two-man rock band called Attila in
(01:26:23):
1969 and 1970? And they only.
Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
Made one album, and it is on multiple lists.
Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
Of worst rock album of all time i believe it
yeah people did not like attila and finally did you
know human stomach acid is strong enough to dissolve a
razor blade over time now that's it yeah that's if
it doesn't cut up your esophagus or poke a hole
in your stomach before it dissolves but yeah it can
absolutely stomach acid.
Speaker 7 (01:26:51):
Do it before coca-cola would do it which would take.
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
Longer Coca-Cola would take longer.
Speaker 1 (01:26:57):
Coca-Cola would take the rust off, but I don't think
it'll dissolve a razor blade. There you go, learning you
some stuff on a Thursday morning 99.7 The Blitz.
