the pleasure of broadcasting live from Wyndham Championship here in Greensboro,
North Carolina, as we get to have the opportunity of

watching some of the best golfers in the world part
of the PGA Tour, trying to chase the cut in
terms of making it into the top seventy, Yes, the
top seventy, and then once you're in the top seventy,
you're advancing basically into the playoffs the PGA Tour, ultimately
trying to get into the top thirty there at East

Lake for the Tour Championship. So we've got a jam
pack show today. Mister Trey Falco back in studio making
sure that we are out over the airwaves, so we
are not in full force. We are a little bit divided,
but that's just part of it. We'll be back in
studio together tomorrow. But mister Falco, it is a beautiful
day here. We've seen some fantastic golf. A little bit hot,
(01:27):
but we keep getting a little bit of cloud cover
and I'm good with that and that's a positive thing.
So I'm set up in a tent right here, right
at they of number one. So it is a beautiful thing.
Although the last few golfers have just teed off, so
we won't see any pure action, but we've got a

big crowd behind us and again being able to view
the golf course, so it is pristine. Sedgefield Country Club.
It is a beautiful day here in Greensboro. And so sorry, Trey,
you're missing out. I know, hey, in studio, it's cool,
it's a climate controlled all of that, but you're missing
out on some good golf.

I was gonna say.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
I mean, we've got a great view up here.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
But it's always a nice day at the office when
your view is a golf course, right, I mean, even
if you're not necessarily playing or you don't get a
chance to play, just kind of being out there, being
out in the open air. Yeah, sure, a little hot,
but I mean at the same time, that's kind of
the that's the time of year that we're in right now.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
It's August.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
It's gonna be a little hot, a little bit human.
But I mean beat sitting indoors all day.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Oh definitely beats sitting indoors, I can tell you that.
And again, as I've talked about just from a perspective
of in terms of sitting in a situation where I'm
jealous to watch these golfers and just how good they are,
that is one of the things that I don't know.
(02:49):
I'm just like, oh my goodness, I want to be
out there. I want to be good. We talked about
it yesterday. Yeah, but hey, got to accept reality, that
is part of it and move on. That's how we
look at it. And Windshield mentality. It's not going to
get to that type of level, but we can experience it.
And that's why I'm excited to continue what we're calling
our Chasing the Cut tour, just like these golfers are

somewhat chasing the cut. And also it's our privilege to
bring in Windom Hotels and Resorts. One of the main
guys helping all of this happen here from a marketing

it is great to have you again. We were here
last year and we're back again, and I know you've

You know, it's our twentieth Niverse Within Them Championship, so
big milestone, right, one of the longest lasting partnerships on
PGA Tour, and this year we're multiplying all the experiences
for our members. Just yesterday two of our members were
able to play in the program with Aaron Raie and
David Lipski.

I mean amazing experiences here.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Of course, yes. And so how does those type of
creative ideas come about? I mean, are you guys locked
in a room and saying, Okay, what can we come
up with this year?
Speaker 3 (04:08):
We lock each other in a room with the PGA exactly.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
You know, I think it's building every year for the
last nineteen going into the twentieth year. And you know,
every year we walked the course right and really listen
to the feedback of the families, the avid golf fans
of what do they want to see next year, and
it's led to Margaritaville. Yes, right, our earners lounge for
our credit card holders, so a lot to do.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
And for the family.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
We have the sand bar with sculptures, so a lot
to do throughout the tournament.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
The sandbar sculpture right now going up with Richard Petty.
I mean, it is rediculous, ridiculous, and they're just sitting
in there in the sand like kids, but these are
adults and they're sculpting all of these creative things. It's
beyond sand castle, that is for certain. And then you
(04:59):
talk about margaritavi Well, last year we were broadcasting from there.
This year looked like I was going to be able
to broadcast from there until I walked over there. It's
jampangne packed. It is packed. I mean, the band is plain,
and so it was almost like, well, it might be
too distractive from that standpoint, and I don't want have
to kick somebody out of their table right there. So
you guys have done a great job, you know, from

that standpoint. But what are some of the other things though,
in terms of not just from a marketing standpoint, but
just even from the community standpoint that you guys the
initiatives that you're focused on, and.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
It's a huge focus for Windom.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Over the last twenty years, we've been able to partner
with a number of philanthropic organizations throughout the tryad to
raise millions of dollars for First Tea Golf as well
as hundreds of thousands of meals for those in need
for school children throughout the years. And so a big
part of this, though the tournament's one week a year,

we really do feel like Greensboro is a second home
and ensure that those philanthropic opportunities to really give back
to the community that brings us this tournament to life.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yes, throughout the year. Yes, Michael shut In is our
guest here from what Wyndom Rewards and Wyndham Hotels and
so from your perspective, talk about just the team though
that you have and that you're a part of, because
these things don't just come together does overnight. I mean,
this is probably a year long process just to get
to this one week that you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Is right the minute the next tour, this tournament finishers,
we're planning for the next Yes, right, and taking and
learning that feedback and really thinking about how do we
get creative right after twenty.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Years a long time?
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Yes, it is, you know, the loyal community here at
Greensboro who's coming back for the twentieth time in some
cases right, really feel that it's fresh and new.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, well, what about in terms of twenty years, Because
it's one thing to look at creative ways based on
your twenty year history, but how can you do it
as technology is evolving, society is evolving, you know all
those things. So it's not just hey, let's have some
creative you know, different thought processes, but you have to

try to balance it with everything else that's coming about,
just with the technology advancements.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
That's exactly right, and so for us, you know what
the best technologies is hidden behind the scenes, right, And
so making it easier for a guest that at the

All right, So now I need to ask you, though,
just from your perspective as far as being here, I mean,
what's it like when you see some of these best
golfers in the world, like a Cameron Young and Justin
Thomas at Jordan's Speeth, those type of names.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
Yeah, that's what I love so much about Windham Championship.
Cam Young is a great example. He really kicked off
his momentum with his win last year, that's right, and
now top player, one of the top players in the world.
You know, I'm really excited to see Jackson drove in play,
oh yes, right off, after his momentum at three m
just last week. And so and to your point, you know,
branch Seneck are winning first ever Windhom champion being then

again in twenty eighteen and back on the field today
had had a pretty good open day today too as well.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
So you know, just love seeing how.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Windom Championship has almost been the launching pad for a
lot of the PGA Tours and seeing them progress Aaron
Rye two years ago, who you know, has been a
tremendous partner to wind them throughout those years as well.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, and what I do love also is that this
is what we call chasing the cut tour, where we're
going to different PGA Tour events and even corn Ferry
Tour events and these golfers are chasing the cut and
now right, you know, not just chasing the cut to
play on Saturday, but chasing that cut to finish in
the top seventy. And that's what I love about the
Windom Championship. This is the last this is your last opportunity.

So typically in these type of situations you might not
get some of the best golfers and some of the names.
But now knowing that this is your opportunity to advance
and how close it can be for some of these golfers,
it lends itself to create even extra drama because here's
the cutoff.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
I completely agree and to your point, right, that's the
beauty of Windom champion We have a tremendous feel this
year because of the multiple narratives that are happening this
year with the Fedexs playoff cutoffs, and so that's the
exciting part about the Championship. We're going to be here
through Sunday and looking forward to seeing the storylines development.

Yeah all right, So did you get to play in
the program?
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I did not this year.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
Not this year too.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Yeah, so you know, but I was able to play
in a couple of programs last year.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
I got to participate in tremendous experience.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Okay, then, so obviously you play golf, I mean, what's
your viewpoint on just how good these golfers are. Knowing that, Hey,
as a recreational golfer like myself, I'm just amazed how
easy they make it look.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
They make the game of golf look like you can
walk on and swing and be totally fun. But you
know what, it's great that it was a shamble structure
for the program. Otherwise I might have been out there
six hours. Yeah, this question, it's the beautiful aspect of Sedgefield, Right.
It's such a course of precision. Right, it's not all
about all out power, and you kind of see that
(11:09):
through the golfers who've won over the last couple of years. Right,
Cam's a perfect example of that. Aaron's another good example
of that of you know, precision over power is really
what's going to drive success here.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
That's right. And we're going to be talking with Bobby Powell,
the tournament director in the second hour, but and talk
a little bit more about Sedgefield. But I mean, Sedgefield
has history celebrating its one hundredth year, and that's what
makes this even more special is that you have all
of the history tied to this club.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
Agreed, and they couldn't be more of a better partner.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Right.

It's just I mean, it's the first being broadcast. Yes,
exactly what are we doing? It's preseason, right, I get
it that it's preseason, but it's the NFL. And I'm
curious just from a perspective. But we know NFL is

the king, right, There's no question from that standpoint. So
my question though, is if the NFL is the king,
are they doing too much in terms of looking at
all of these other streaming platforms and trying to deliver
content in different ways versus there's a portion of the

country that I think just says, you know what, let's
just do it old school, just linear TV. That's all
we want. We just want it easy. We don't have
to search, we don't want to have to find what
platform it is. We don't want to have to invest
more money for NFL Plus or Peacock, whatever it might be.
I just think there's something about it. I'm not trying

to be old school, old man, get off my lawn,
but isn't there something about just simplicity? And sometimes I
feel in life, and especially with all the technology advancements
that we have, that we overcomplicate things, We make it
too hard. Let's just keep it simple. It's the kiss principle,
keep it simple, stupid, just put it on linear TV. Oh,
(16:35):
there's going to be an audience for it. It's NFL,
it's a preseason game. We're thirsty for it, regardless if
it's Carson Beck or can you Pickett. I mean, there's
fan bases that want to watch. And you've got the
Panthers in the car knows wanting to see how their
teams are going to respond here in the first game
of preseason. Even though, yeah, how much are you going

to take away from it? Maybe not a whole lot,
but from a fan perspective, who cares? You want to
see your team play, And it's just harder and harder
to find some of these platforms in my opinion.

Oh on, and like you know, I'm all, I'm all
four options, like, give give me more options, but also
there should be and I just I did double check
just now, sitting here in studio, pulled it up on
the TV, scrolled all the way up to channel four
and there is preseason there on channel four, so you
can watch it tonight on WIFF. So it is available locally, yeah,

Okay, so terrestrially it is, Yes, that's right. That is good. See,
But now I'm wondering if that's just because it's within
the Charlotte market, could be see, I don't know if
it's going to be on NBC and other parts of
the country, and so we need to investigate that. Yeah,

it has to be available because it's your your local
fan base, and so we do need to get to
the bottom of that. But also this includes the Hall

of Fame class of twenty twenty six, featuring five football
legends Drew Brees there at quarterback, running back Roger Craig,
wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and of course a Carolina Panther
linebacker Luke Keigley and then kicker Adam Vinetari. And again

the enentriument ceremony takes place on August the eighth. But
this is an opportunity to start looking at these Hall
of Fame careers from these individuals. And when you hear
some of these names, when I think of Roger Craig, man,
that takes me back to my childhood watching Roger Craig

for the forty nine ers, and man, you're talking about
a guy that had power and speed, that was one
dude that he could hit you hard and he could
outrun you. Maybe not like a Bo Jackson type of thing,
because Bo Jackson was a completely different type of player.
We know that, and I still think Bo Jackson could
(19:36):
have gone down as one of the greatest athletes ever
and he still could be in that argument, even based
on a short career. But if he doesn't get hurt,
my goodness. But Roger Craig was definitely a guy that, man,
I feared when the Cowboys would play the forty nine
ers with Roger Craig on that team. And I think
(19:57):
from a perspective of wide receive, do we talk about
Larry Fitzgerald enough, I don't think so. I don't know
if we do, Trey, I don't think we do. Do
you realize how good Larry Fitzgerald was.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Seeing I'm trying to remember because like, dude, when when
did he leave the league? Because there was there was
a period of time where like obviously I was a
kid watching it. Then I kind of got out of
the NFL for a while, and so like I remember
Larry Fitzgerald, you.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Know, when I was probably ten years old. I'm trying
to think, Larry. Yeah, So I mean it's impressionable for you.
Oh yeah, also that you can remember that cause at
ten years old, were you a big sports fan and
especially in an NFL.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
I was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Let's put it
that way. I watched the games with my dad, but
we didn't watch like I wasn't there all day, you know,
even my dad, like I really don't remember him sitting
there all day long with the NFL on from you know,
morning to night or afternoon tonight. You know, it's kind
of we watched the Steelers games and if we wanted
to see what the Ravens were doing to the Bengals,

you know, we might pick in on that.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Yeah, and that's but so you weren't really focused on
like a Larry Fitzgerald.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Oh No, Like I didn't really know a whole lot
of the players outside of Madden. Madden really got me
familiar with players.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
You know what I would have to say, you know,
as we're beating up on technology and you know, all
these different streaming platforms and distribution in different ways, I
would have to say the football video games, there's no
doubt that brought in a lot of kids, a lot
of guys and girls. Oh yeah, obviously more probably guys,
(21:45):
just in terms of getting them familiar with players. And
I think it was such a great idea that you
were able to license with the NFL and utilize teams,
utilize names of play because then all of a sudden,
you know, you're playing with a Bo Jackson, You're playing,
(22:06):
you know, with the Larry Fitzgerald, you know, on your team,
whatever it might be. And so that gives you a
much better opportunity to have a connection to these type
of players. And I think you know that probably doesn't
get talked about enough either, but listen to this with
Larry Fitzgerald and his career I mean he has drafted
third overall out of Pittsburgh in two thousand and four.
(22:29):
He played for the Panthers there, and I remember him
in college too. I mean, the dude was ridiculous. But
I would say that when you look at his career,
I mean it's one of the most remarkable, consistent, and
statistically dominant careers in NFL history, especially from a wide
receiver standpoint. I mean seventeen seasons, I mean, playing seventeen

seasons in NFL anyway, Yes, that's what I'm saying. I
mean you look at it from a perspective of statistically
rank also, and of course you know I'm going to
bring in some stats. I love my stats. He ranks
second in NFL history in both career receptions and career
receiving yards, behind only who I oh yeah, the arguably

the easy guy to say goat from a wide receiver perspective,
and that's Jerry Rice. Oh yeah. But he also ranks
six all time and receiving touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald does one
hundred and twenty one touchdowns. He's got seventeen thousand, four
hundred and ninety two career receiving yards.

Insane e yes.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Eleven time Pro bowler, three time All Pro, named to
the NFL twenty tens All Decade Team, and selected to
the NFL one hundred All Time Team. And also he
had the postseason dominance like nobody has had. In two
thousand and eight, he set the all time NFL single

postseason record during Arizona's run to win the Super Bowl
thirty receptions or get to the Super Bowl run, I
should say, thirty receptions for five hundred and forty six
yards and seven touchdowns in four games. In four games,
seven touchdowns in four games?

Right?

Wow?

And then how about this? You want something that is
absolutely crazy? Okay? He had thirty seven career tackles. Wait
what thirty seven? Yeah, thirty seven career tackles and he
only had twenty nine dropped passes in his career. I

don't know this. Years. No, he had one thousand, four
hundred and thirty two career receptions and only dropped twenty
nine passes. That is remarkable. And he also called a
pass in two hundred and fifty six consecutive games, the

second longest streak in NFL history. I would say that's
a definition of Hall of Famer. I would say, first
ballot Hall of Famer, Yes exactly. Hey, let me know
your thoughts. Eight six four two four zero five to
four eight zero. That is the number to the Ingles

You talk about this Hall of Fame class went through it.
There have been Hall of Fame classes, you know, over
the years where we whether you just you wonder well
does this person deserved to be and is it?

Yeah?

You know really not those that are like you're, you're
on the fence on whether they do or whether they don't.
There is no question all five of these gentlemen deserved
to be in the NFL Hall of Fame. Uh, absolutely
no question that they belong. And you were mentioning, uh,

Roger Craig, I can remember during the San Francisco I
was in college and watching that that that San Francisco
Juggernaut and Roger Craig and always just remember his high stepping,
you know, he yes, he gets high stepped through the line,
and he made it tough to tackle because he moved
(26:44):
those legs so much and he picked them up so hot.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah, that's right. What about his eyes, you remember, just
the camera would focus in right through his his face
mask and his eyes. I mean, he was just they
were wide open.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
It was crazy, so underrated, rich, so underrated. But I'm
glad he got in. And Larry Fitzgerald, I mean, I
know he had that one, but he just from us
over here on this side of the of the Mississippi.
We just didn't. You didn't get him that much out

there in Arizona, but you knew how dominant he was
at Pitt when he was in college, and he was
equally i mean more dominant and almost just like I'm
not sure what I know. He was a pretty above
average sized receiver, but I mean he wasn't he wasn't megatron,

but he was a big receiver. Uh and and and
just was dominant us as a receiver in the NFL,
and just so somewhat underrated on this side because you
just didn't we didn't see him that much. We didn't
see Larry Fitzgerald that much for the Cardinals unless they

made the playoffs, but that was that was not that often.
Uh But nonetheless, and then as far as as Keighley goes,
and and it's it's I mean, he he got out
of it for all the right reasons, his health and everything.
It's he all things being considered, he could have had,
(28:30):
you know, more years. He's almost kind of like, uh,
he played longer, but he's almost like Sterling Sharp, who's
down the Hall of Fame, who whose career was cut
short by injuries, although he had a Hall of Fame
type numbers. Well, Kickley's the same way. And I think
he was rewarded.

For that fact.

Even though he did have kind of a shorter career
play in the position he did, he was dominant every
year play, yes.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
No doubt. And you know, I think I like the
fact that they were able to recognize and honor based
on a shorter career because I thought it took a
lot of guts. And I say that in a way
that of course health is number one, but we know
(29:21):
guys will continue to keep playing even though you know
they're so driven. But I think it was admirable that
Luke understood the potential severity of what might happen. And
then my point is that the voters recognized, Hey, his
(29:43):
career could have easily been extended, but would it have
been the same type of career even during that short span.
And I like that they were able to just go ahead, Hey,
let's evaluate him on just this part of his career,
because I think a lot of times we'd look at
some of these players and like, oh, well, he didn't
do it long enough. I think there's something to be
(30:06):
said about if you're having sustained excellence and it's only
five six years, if it's at a completely different level,
you have to honor that. And I think that's what
they did with Luke.

Well, yeah, and during it was with the Panthers when
they were having the run. I mean he he was
arguably one of the best linebackers in the league.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Okay, I mean yes, yes.

So, and it was sustained. It wasn't just like and
then the injuries and everything, and now he's I don't know,
I gotta imagine Luke's probably in his late thirties or
something like that, or somewhere along those lines, and he's
and he's doing very well for himself. And at least
I see him on television a lot, and I can

only imagine there and and he's got his health, and
he's got his family, and he's got a whole long
life hopefully to live and and and you know you,
but to be able to have that that jacket, to
be able to go in there and and to be
as young as he is, even Larry fitz Gerald, as

I mean, all of them, I mean, Vinitary is probably
getting up there, but uh uh, but nonetheless, and he
belongs as a kicker. I mean, there's there's But anyway,
it's a good and yeah, I was. I was listening
to you, and I was kind of curious that the
game was gonna be on television. So why if s

carry in the game, that'll be good even though it's preseason.
I don't know. Listen to y'all show and back when yeah,
and you know you and then when John was doing
the show. Now jerreedmy's doing this show and all that
and just got you get that itch for football, and

in terms of the NFL draft, and that seems like
one of those situations where, man, if you get drafted
in NFL, if you can say you were drafted in
the NFL, it's almost like you made it. You know,
we talked about this before, but that's really just the beginning.
But when you can say that you're in Canton, Ohio,
the Hall of Fame, the football Hall of Fame, and

you get to put on that gold jacket, I mean,
is that gold jacket as close to a green jacket
for winning the Masters? I mean, it just seems to
me the NFL or the Football Hall of Fame, the
Pro Football Hall of Fame seems to be just different

than the Basketball Hall of Fame or you know, the
Major League Baseball. You know they're in Cooper's town. It
just seems to be a different level. Like if you
can say one you were drafted the NFL, two you
played in the NFL, and then three Super Bowl Champion,

and then four and you can say you're a Hall
of Famer, I mean, good grief, that is. That seems
the pinnacle in sports, making it to the NFL Hall
or the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And from my perspective,
because we're here at a golf tournament, seems the only
other one might be the Master's Green Jacket. But I

think the Hall of Fame gold jacket is probably more
special because it's not just winning, you know, a one tournament,
it's what you've done for your entire career, and how
difficult that is to have that type of career, that
sustained excellence type of career and then get voted in.
I just think it's the pinnacle of all of sports.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, that green jacket is it's
it's one of a kind there's there really is nothing
else like it. But man, the uh maybe maybe it's
because I'm an NFL guy, So maybe I'm a little
biased here on this one. I'm not as much not

much golf as I do NFL. But uh, yeah, that
gold jacket, man, it's it's something that, like, I know,

you get into the league and all these players are
chasing rings, right, you want the super Bowl, and that's
like the culmination of everything. But you can't tell me
that there aren't guys sitting in those locker rooms or
sitting on those sidelines tonight, those rookies that are out
there getting ready to make a name for themselves, that
are looking at these dudes and going, man, oh, if
I could be there one day, if I could have

that type of career, if I could be if my
name could be lights like them, the highlight reels, and
the the just lore and the legacy around these guys
that are out there putting these jackets on.

It's totally different, it is, I'm telling you, And it's
so hard to get there. Yeah, that's the part that
I'm trying to make Also, is that We know how
hard it is to win a super Bowl. We know
how hard it is to just even get to the playoffs, right,

Luke Keickley the youngest to be inducted in the NFL
Hall of Fame with Gail Sayers at age thirty four,
Luke Keikley will be the second youngest to ever be

inducted into the Hall of Fame. He's he's tied at
age thirty five with Calvin Johnson and Jim Brown, I believe,
but because of his birthday, once he's inducted, he will
be the earliest thirty five year old to be inducted.

Because I thought about it and I'm like, ok, God,
thirty five, man, that's mighty young. So I said, who's
the youngest ever? And then I got it. I got

special Luke Keigley was. And again, just from a perspective
of thirty five years of age and being inducted into
the NFL Hall of Fame or the Pro Football Hall

of Fame, I should say again it's not just NFL,
it's the Pro Football Hall of Fame, because there's been
the a FL, the NFL, other professional football leagues where
there's been inductees. But it is a special opportunity to
highlight and showcase and honor some of these great legacies

and careers. And again is just so special. And when
you start looking at you know, who can you put
on some of these Mount Rushmore so to speak in
terms of Hall of Famers team Mount Rushmore's, you know,
all all of those different things, and it's a great
way to honor. And now I think this is a
really good class relatively speaking. Again, maybe there's been some

other classes where I just didn't know some of the
players as far as I knew the players, but didn't
know their career enough. Where these guys, I mean I
remember living through their careers and so it's even more
special from that perspective when you have really been involved
watching those careers, you know, over the years and understand that. Okay, yeah,

not only statistically speaking, but my eyeball told me the
same thing. These guys are good and they were dominating,
you know, in their various roles, their various positions, whatever
it might be. But I did find out and again
as Texter nineties seven thirty six did point out, is that, hey, historically,
it's always been on NBC and it shouldn't be any

different and absolutely correct. So I did verify it is
going to be on NBC tonight and then streaming on
Peacock and you can also have it on NFL Plus,
so you do have the ability nationwide to see it
on NBC and wherever you are, so not just a

local market. And that makes me feel really good and
not that I was going to be Yeah, that's way
it should be. Yes, And again I think I was
almost biased, just how many times we have seen some
of these organizations, these leagues look at different distribution opportunities.

Look at Thursday Night Football. No, yeah, I mean it's Amazon,
you know, So I mean it's it's you know, based
on what we're starting to see this evolution as far
as streaming. It wouldn't apprize me that the NFL tries
to do something a little different because they know they
can get away with it to a certain degree. But
I'm glad that they're continuing. Hey, we're just gonna be

right there as the Panthers and the Cardinals there at
Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. They'll be
airing right there on NBC. And that's what all of

Lake for the Tour Championship. So we've got a jam
pack show today. Mister Trey Falco back in studio making
sure that we are out over the airwaves, so we
are not in full force. We are a little bit divided,
but that's just part of it. We'll be back in
studio together tomorrow. But mister Falco, it is a beautiful
day here. We've seen some fantastic golf. A little bit hot,

but we keep getting a little bit of cloud cover
and I'm good with that and that's a positive thing.
So I'm set up in a tent right here, right
at they of number one. So it is a beautiful thing.
Although the last few golfers have just teed off, so
we won't see any pure action, but we've got a

big crowd behind us and again being able to view
the golf course, so it is pristine. Sedgefield Country Club.
It is a beautiful day here in Greensboro. And so sorry, Trey,
you're missing out. I know, hey, in studio, it's cool,
it's a climate controlled all of that, but you're missing
out on some good golf.

I mean, we've got a great view up here.

But it's always a nice day at the office when
your view is a golf course, right, I mean, even
if you're not necessarily playing or you don't get a
chance to play, just kind of being out there, being

but I mean at the same time, that's kind of
the that's the time of year that we're in right now.

It's gonna be a little hot, a little bit human.
But I mean beat sitting indoors all day.

Oh definitely beats sitting indoors, I can tell you that.
And again, as I've talked about just from a perspective
of in terms of sitting in a situation where I'm
jealous to watch these golfers and just how good they are,
that is one of the things that I don't know.

I'm just like, oh my goodness, I want to be
out there. I want to be good. We talked about
it yesterday. Yeah, but hey, got to accept reality, that
is part of it and move on. That's how we
look at it. And Windshield mentality. It's not going to
get to that type of level, but we can experience it.
And that's why I'm excited to continue what we're calling
our Chasing the Cut tour, just like these golfers are

somewhat chasing the cut. And also it's our privilege to

last nineteen going into the twentieth year. And you know,
every year we walked the course right and really listen
to the feedback of the families, the avid golf fans
of what do they want to see next year, and
it's led to Margaritaville. Yes, right, our earners lounge for
our credit card holders, so a lot to do.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
And for the family.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
We have the sand bar with sculptures, so a lot
to do throughout the tournament.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
The sandbar sculpture right now going up with Richard Petty.
I mean, it is rediculous, ridiculous, and they're just sitting
in there in the sand like kids, but these are
adults and they're sculpting all of these creative things. It's
beyond sand castle, that is for certain. And then you
(04:59):
talk about margaritavi Well, last year we were broadcasting from there.
This year looked like I was going to be able
to broadcast from there until I walked over there. It's
jampangne packed. It is packed. I mean, the band is plain,
and so it was almost like, well, it might be
too distractive from that standpoint, and I don't want have
to kick somebody out of their table right there. So
you guys have done a great job, you know, from
(05:20):
that standpoint. But what are some of the other things though,
in terms of not just from a marketing standpoint, but
just even from the community standpoint that you guys the
initiatives that you're focused on, and.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
It's a huge focus for Windom.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Over the last twenty years, we've been able to partner
with a number of philanthropic organizations throughout the tryad to
raise millions of dollars for First Tea Golf as well
as hundreds of thousands of meals for those in need
for school children throughout the years. And so a big
part of this, though the tournament's one week a year,

we really do feel like Greensboro is a second home
and ensure that those philanthropic opportunities to really give back
to the community that brings us this tournament to life.

Yes, throughout the year. Yes, Michael shut In is our

that you have and that you're a part of, because
these things don't just come together does overnight. I mean,
this is probably a year long process just to get

learning that feedback and really thinking about how do we

those things. So it's not just hey, let's have some
creative you know, different thought processes, but you have to

try to balance it with everything else that's coming about,
just with the technology advancements.

Cam Young is a great example. He really kicked off
his momentum with his win last year, that's right, and
now top player, one of the top players in the world.
You know, I'm really excited to see Jackson drove in play,
oh yes, right off, after his momentum at three m
just last week. And so and to your point, you know,
branch Seneck are winning first ever Windhom champion being then
(09:01):
again in twenty eighteen and back on the field today
had had a pretty good open day today too as well.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
So you know, just love seeing how.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Windom Championship has almost been the launching pad for a
lot of the PGA Tours and seeing them progress Aaron
Rye two years ago, who you know, has been a
tremendous partner to wind them throughout those years as well.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah, and what I do love also is that this
is what we call chasing the cut tour, where we're
going to different PGA Tour events and even corn Ferry
Tour events and these golfers are chasing the cut and
now right, you know, not just chasing the cut to
play on Saturday, but chasing that cut to finish in
the top seventy. And that's what I love about the
Windom Championship. This is the last this is your last opportunity.

So typically in these type of situations you might not
get some of the best golfers and some of the names.
But now knowing that this is your opportunity to advance
and how close it can be for some of these golfers,
it lends itself to create even extra drama because here's
the cutoff.

your viewpoint on just how good these golfers are. Knowing that, Hey,
as a recreational golfer like myself, I'm just amazed how
easy they make it look.

know what, it's great that it was a shamble structure
for the program. Otherwise I might have been out there

curious just from a perspective. But we know NFL is

the king, right, There's no question from that standpoint. So
my question though, is if the NFL is the king,
are they doing too much in terms of looking at
all of these other streaming platforms and trying to deliver
content in different ways versus there's a portion of the

country that I think just says, you know what, let's
just do it old school, just linear TV. That's all
we want. We just want it easy. We don't have
to search, we don't want to have to find what
platform it is. We don't want to have to invest
more money for NFL Plus or Peacock, whatever it might be.
I just think there's something about it. I'm not trying

to be old school, old man, get off my lawn,
but isn't there something about just simplicity? And sometimes I
feel in life, and especially with all the technology advancements
that we have, that we overcomplicate things, We make it
too hard. Let's just keep it simple. It's the kiss principle,
keep it simple, stupid, just put it on linear TV. Oh,

there's going to be an audience for it. It's NFL,
it's a preseason game. We're thirsty for it, regardless if
it's Carson Beck or can you Pickett. I mean, there's
fan bases that want to watch. And you've got the
Panthers in the car knows wanting to see how their
teams are going to respond here in the first game
of preseason. Even though, yeah, how much are you going

to take away from it? Maybe not a whole lot,
but from a fan perspective, who cares? You want to
see your team play, And it's just harder and harder
to find some of these platforms in my opinion.

four options, like, give give me more options, but also
there should be and I just I did double check
just now, sitting here in studio, pulled it up on
the TV, scrolled all the way up to channel four
and there is preseason there on channel four, so you

it has to be available because it's your your local
fan base, and so we do need to get to

legends Drew Brees there at quarterback, running back Roger Craig,
wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, and of course a Carolina Panther
linebacker Luke Keigley and then kicker Adam Vinetari. And again

the enentriument ceremony takes place on August the eighth. But
this is an opportunity to start looking at these Hall
of Fame careers from these individuals. And when you hear
some of these names, when I think of Roger Craig, man,
that takes me back to my childhood watching Roger Craig

for the forty nine ers, and man, you're talking about
a guy that had power and speed, that was one
dude that he could hit you hard and he could
outrun you. Maybe not like a Bo Jackson type of thing,
because Bo Jackson was a completely different type of player.
We know that, and I still think Bo Jackson could

have gone down as one of the greatest athletes ever
and he still could be in that argument, even based
on a short career. But if he doesn't get hurt,
my goodness. But Roger Craig was definitely a guy that, man,
I feared when the Cowboys would play the forty nine
ers with Roger Craig on that team. And I think
(19:57):
from a perspective of wide receive, do we talk about
Larry Fitzgerald enough, I don't think so. I don't know
if we do, Trey, I don't think we do. Do
you realize how good Larry Fitzgerald was.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Seeing I'm trying to remember because like, dude, when when
did he leave the league? Because there was there was
a period of time where like obviously I was a
kid watching it. Then I kind of got out of
the NFL for a while, and so like I remember
Larry Fitzgerald, you.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Know, when I was probably ten years old. I'm trying
to think, Larry. Yeah, So I mean it's impressionable for you.
Oh yeah, also that you can remember that cause at
ten years old, were you a big sports fan and
especially in an NFL.
Speaker 4 (20:42):
I was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Let's put it
that way. I watched the games with my dad, but
we didn't watch like I wasn't there all day, you know,
even my dad, like I really don't remember him sitting
there all day long with the NFL on from you know,
morning to night or afternoon tonight. You know, it's kind
of we watched the Steelers games and if we wanted
to see what the Ravens were doing to the Bengals,

you know, we might pick in on that.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Yeah, and that's but so you weren't really focused on
like a Larry Fitzgerald.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Oh No, Like I didn't really know a whole lot
of the players outside of Madden. Madden really got me
familiar with players.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
You know what I would have to say, you know,
as we're beating up on technology and you know, all
these different streaming platforms and distribution in different ways, I
would have to say the football video games, there's no
doubt that brought in a lot of kids, a lot
of guys and girls. Oh yeah, obviously more probably guys,

just in terms of getting them familiar with players. And
I think it was such a great idea that you
were able to license with the NFL and utilize teams,
utilize names of play because then all of a sudden,
you know, you're playing with a Bo Jackson, You're playing,
(22:06):
you know, with the Larry Fitzgerald, you know, on your team,
whatever it might be. And so that gives you a
much better opportunity to have a connection to these type
of players. And I think you know that probably doesn't
get talked about enough either, but listen to this with
Larry Fitzgerald and his career I mean he has drafted
third overall out of Pittsburgh in two thousand and four.

He played for the Panthers there, and I remember him
in college too. I mean, the dude was ridiculous. But
I would say that when you look at his career,
I mean it's one of the most remarkable, consistent, and
statistically dominant careers in NFL history, especially from a wide
receiver standpoint. I mean seventeen seasons, I mean, playing seventeen
(22:53):
seasons in NFL anyway, Yes, that's what I'm saying. I
mean you look at it from a perspective of statistically
rank also, and of course you know I'm going to
bring in some stats. I love my stats. He ranks
second in NFL history in both career receptions and career
receiving yards, behind only who I oh yeah, the arguably
(23:17):
the easy guy to say goat from a wide receiver perspective,
and that's Jerry Rice. Oh yeah. But he also ranks
six all time and receiving touchdowns. Larry Fitzgerald does one
hundred and twenty one touchdowns. He's got seventeen thousand, four
hundred and ninety two career receiving yards.

Insane e yes.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Eleven time Pro bowler, three time All Pro, named to
the NFL twenty tens All Decade Team, and selected to
the NFL one hundred All Time Team. And also he
had the postseason dominance like nobody has had. In two
thousand and eight, he set the all time NFL single

postseason record during Arizona's run to win the Super Bowl
thirty receptions or get to the Super Bowl run, I
should say, thirty receptions for five hundred and forty six
yards and seven touchdowns in four games. In four games,
seven touchdowns in four games?

And then how about this? You want something that is
absolutely crazy? Okay? He had thirty seven career tackles. Wait
what thirty seven? Yeah, thirty seven career tackles and he

don't know this. Years. No, he had one thousand, four
hundred and thirty two career receptions and only dropped twenty
nine passes. That is remarkable. And he also called a
pass in two hundred and fifty six consecutive games, the

second longest streak in NFL history. I would say that's
a definition of Hall of Famer. I would say, first
ballot Hall of Famer, Yes exactly. Hey, let me know

There have been Hall of Fame classes, you know, over
the years where we whether you just you wonder well
does this person deserved to be and is it?

You know really not those that are like you're, you're
on the fence on whether they do or whether they don't.
There is no question all five of these gentlemen deserved
to be in the NFL Hall of Fame. Uh, absolutely
no question that they belong. And you were mentioning, uh,

Roger Craig, I can remember during the San Francisco I
was in college and watching that that that San Francisco
Juggernaut and Roger Craig and always just remember his high stepping,
you know, he yes, he gets high stepped through the line,
and he made it tough to tackle because he moved
(26:44):
those legs so much and he picked them up so hot.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah, that's right. What about his eyes, you remember, just
the camera would focus in right through his his face
mask and his eyes. I mean, he was just they
were wide open.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
It was crazy, so underrated, rich, so underrated. But I'm
glad he got in. And Larry Fitzgerald, I mean, I
know he had that one, but he just from us
over here on this side of the of the Mississippi.
We just didn't. You didn't get him that much out
(27:19):
there in Arizona, but you knew how dominant he was
at Pitt when he was in college, and he was
equally i mean more dominant and almost just like I'm
not sure what I know. He was a pretty above
average sized receiver, but I mean he wasn't he wasn't megatron,
(27:41):
but he was a big receiver. Uh and and and
just was dominant us as a receiver in the NFL,
and just so somewhat underrated on this side because you
just didn't we didn't see him that much. We didn't
see Larry Fitzgerald that much for the Cardinals unless they
(28:04):
made the playoffs, but that was that was not that often.
Uh But nonetheless, and then as far as as Keighley goes,
and and it's it's I mean, he he got out
of it for all the right reasons, his health and everything.
It's he all things being considered, he could have had,
(28:30):
you know, more years. He's almost kind of like, uh,
he played longer, but he's almost like Sterling Sharp, who's
down the Hall of Fame, who whose career was cut
short by injuries, although he had a Hall of Fame
type numbers. Well, Kickley's the same way. And I think
he was rewarded.

For that fact.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Even though he did have kind of a shorter career
play in the position he did, he was dominant every
year play, yes.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
No doubt. And you know, I think I like the
fact that they were able to recognize and honor based
on a shorter career because I thought it took a
lot of guts. And I say that in a way
that of course health is number one, but we know
(29:21):
guys will continue to keep playing even though you know
they're so driven. But I think it was admirable that
Luke understood the potential severity of what might happen. And
then my point is that the voters recognized, Hey, his
(29:43):
career could have easily been extended, but would it have
been the same type of career even during that short span.
And I like that they were able to just go ahead, Hey,
let's evaluate him on just this part of his career,
because I think a lot of times we'd look at
some of these players and like, oh, well, he didn't
do it long enough. I think there's something to be
(30:06):
said about if you're having sustained excellence and it's only
five six years, if it's at a completely different level,
you have to honor that. And I think that's what
they did with Luke.
Speaker 6 (30:17):
Well, yeah, and during it was with the Panthers when
they were having the run. I mean he he was
arguably one of the best linebackers in the league.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Okay, I mean yes, yes.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
So, and it was sustained. It wasn't just like and
then the injuries and everything, and now he's I don't know,
I gotta imagine Luke's probably in his late thirties or
something like that, or somewhere along those lines, and he's
and he's doing very well for himself. And at least
I see him on television a lot, and I can

only imagine there and and he's got his health, and
he's got his family, and he's got a whole long
life hopefully to live and and and you know you,
but to be able to have that that jacket, to
be able to go in there and and to be
as young as he is, even Larry fitz Gerald, as

I mean, all of them, I mean, Vinitary is probably
getting up there, but uh uh, but nonetheless, and he
belongs as a kicker. I mean, there's there's But anyway,
it's a good and yeah, I was. I was listening
to you, and I was kind of curious that the
game was gonna be on television. So why if s

carry in the game, that'll be good even though it's preseason.
I don't know. Listen to y'all show and back when yeah,
and you know you and then when John was doing
the show. Now jerreedmy's doing this show and all that
and just got you get that itch for football, and

one of those situations where, man, if you get drafted
in NFL, if you can say you were drafted in
the NFL, it's almost like you made it. You know,
we talked about this before, but that's really just the beginning.
But when you can say that you're in Canton, Ohio,
the Hall of Fame, the football Hall of Fame, and

you get to put on that gold jacket, I mean,
is that gold jacket as close to a green jacket
for winning the Masters? I mean, it just seems to
me the NFL or the Football Hall of Fame, the
Pro Football Hall of Fame seems to be just different

than the Basketball Hall of Fame or you know, the
Major League Baseball. You know they're in Cooper's town. It
just seems to be a different level. Like if you
can say one you were drafted the NFL, two you
played in the NFL, and then three Super Bowl Champion,

and then four and you can say you're a Hall
of Famer, I mean, good grief, that is. That seems
the pinnacle in sports, making it to the NFL Hall
or the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And from my perspective,
because we're here at a golf tournament, seems the only
other one might be the Master's Green Jacket. But I

think the Hall of Fame gold jacket is probably more
special because it's not just winning, you know, a one tournament,
it's what you've done for your entire career, and how
difficult that is to have that type of career, that
sustained excellence type of career and then get voted in.
I just think it's the pinnacle of all of sports.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, that green jacket is it's
it's one of a kind there's there really is nothing
else like it. But man, the uh maybe maybe it's
because I'm an NFL guy, So maybe I'm a little
biased here on this one. I'm not as much not
that I don't like golf, I just don't watch as
much golf as I do NFL. But uh, yeah, that
gold jacket, man, it's it's something that, like, I know,

you get into the league and all these players are
chasing rings, right, you want the super Bowl, and that's
like the culmination of everything. But you can't tell me
that there aren't guys sitting in those locker rooms or
sitting on those sidelines tonight, those rookies that are out
there getting ready to make a name for themselves, that
are looking at these dudes and going, man, oh, if
I could be there one day, if I could have

that type of career, if I could be if my
name could be lights like them, the highlight reels, and
the the just lore and the legacy around these guys
that are out there putting these jackets on.

It's totally different, it is, I'm telling you, And it's
so hard to get there. Yeah, that's the part that
I'm trying to make Also, is that We know how
hard it is to win a super Bowl. We know
how hard it is to just even get to the playoffs, right,
and then how hard it is to have that opportunity

and have your name etched there in the Pro Football
Hall of Fame. We're in a gold jacket. Get your

and then exits out and has success somewhere else.

But now, Donald and Mayfield didn't have a Canalis. They
had some crap coaching when they were there.

I think when you look at what Baker was able
to do in Tampa is because he had Dave Canalis
there on the offensive side, and that revitalized his career.

No, I think Baker has that chip and he wants

to perform this season. But I don't think it's gonna

Luke Keickley the youngest to be inducted in the NFL
Hall of Fame with Gail Sayers at age thirty four,
Luke Keikley will be the second youngest to ever be

inducted into the Hall of Fame. He's he's tied at
age thirty five with Calvin Johnson and Jim Brown, I believe,
but because of his birthday, once he's inducted, he will
be the earliest thirty five year old to be inducted.
Right after gets here we go, the second younger in history.

For all the Panthers fans there there you go, all right?
Because I thought about it and I'm like, ok, God,
thirty five, man, that's mighty young. So I said, who's
the youngest ever? And then I got it. I got
the top five or six buckets is in there. But anyway,
Keickley be the second youngest to be inducted. And when

he's done it this Saturday or whenever, that is.

Yep, fantastic. And man, Gail Sayers was a hell of
a player also, and that's a guy that got wrecking Rocky.

That sounds perfect man, No, thank you, Rocky. We appreciate
the knowledge being dropped right there and understanding just how
special Luke Keigley was. And again, just from a perspective
of thirty five years of age and being inducted into
the NFL Hall of Fame or the Pro Football Hall

of Fame, I should say again it's not just NFL,
it's the Pro Football Hall of Fame, because there's been
the a FL, the NFL, other professional football leagues where
there's been inductees. But it is a special opportunity to
highlight and showcase and honor some of these great legacies
(43:58):
and careers. And again is just so special. And when
you start looking at you know, who can you put
on some of these Mount Rushmore so to speak in
terms of Hall of Famers team Mount Rushmore's, you know,
all all of those different things, and it's a great
way to honor. And now I think this is a
really good class relatively speaking. Again, maybe there's been some
(44:21):
other classes where I just didn't know some of the
players as far as I knew the players, but didn't
know their career enough. Where these guys, I mean I
remember living through their careers and so it's even more
special from that perspective when you have really been involved
watching those careers, you know, over the years and understand that. Okay, yeah,
(44:45):
not only statistically speaking, but my eyeball told me the
same thing. These guys are good and they were dominating,
you know, in their various roles, their various positions, whatever
it might be. But I did find out and again
as Texter nineties seven thirty six did point out, is that, hey, historically,
it's always been on NBC and it shouldn't be any
(45:06):
different and absolutely correct. So I did verify it is
going to be on NBC tonight and then streaming on
Peacock and you can also have it on NFL Plus,
so you do have the ability nationwide to see it
on NBC and wherever you are, so not just a
(45:28):
local market. And that makes me feel really good and
not that I was going to be Yeah, that's way
it should be. Yes, And again I think I was
almost biased, just how many times we have seen some
of these organizations, these leagues look at different distribution opportunities.
(45:49):
Look at Thursday Night Football. No, yeah, I mean it's Amazon,
you know, So I mean it's it's you know, based
on what we're starting to see this evolution as far
as streaming. It wouldn't apprize me that the NFL tries
to do something a little different because they know they
can get away with it to a certain degree. But
I'm glad that they're continuing. Hey, we're just gonna be

right there as the Panthers and the Cardinals there at
Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. They'll be
airing right there on NBC. And that's what all of
the fans deserve from that standpoint eight pm tonight, and
I know there's a lot of people itching, as Rocky
even talked about trying to scratch that itch with a

little bit of football. Yeah, just a little bit, that's it.
