and the Braves have have have have gotten back on track,

big topic at the trade line trade deadline was really

the Dodgers, and how good the Dodgers are, how great
the Dodgers are, and all this great talent that they have,
which maybe people need to look at. A lot of
that great talent is getting kind of up in age
a while of those guys are in their thirties. They're
still very productive, but nonetheless but still the Tariq the

was it Scubic or whatever that trade. But here's kind
of flight under the radar. And I don't know, not
a lot of talk about it, but the Boston Red
Sox are about as hot as anybody that can be.
They had that long winding streak, they lost a couple.
Now they're on another winding streak, and low and behold,

they're right on the Yankees heels for a second in
that American League East, and they're nipping at the race,
which are in first. So the Boston Red Sox to me,
are and and I tell you, I'm just thinking about
the postseason if it gets down, you know, when we
get down to the postseason, and I mean, if you

got the Yankees and the Red Sox and the Braids
and the Dodgers in and in postseason play, I mean,
that's just gonna be fun. I mean, not with Danny Milwaukee,
because they still have by a game or two over
the Braids the best record in baseball. But the Brewers

still yet and they got really good team. But I'm
just talking about the names. I mean, if you got
the Yankees and the Red Sox and in the American League,
and if you got the Braves and the Dodgers in
the National League and the Phillies right there, I mean,
it's shaping up to be a really good nothing against

the White Sox, the Cleveland Indians, those guys that are
struggling around five hundred and they'll they'll get in there,
or the Mariners or the Rangers and the Astros, whoever's
but I'm I'm I'm talking about the teams that are
for you know, they got seventy wins, are flirting with it.

Oh yes, well and remember it's the Guardians now for Cleveland.

Well but to your point though, yeah, but to your point, Rocky,
just in terms of brand and name recognition, Yeah, I mean,
when you're talking Yankees and Red Sox of course, and
then the Dodgers and then Atlanta. I know there's some
people that think that Atlanta doesn't have a national brand,
so to speak.

But to your point, the Braves are hot. They've won
eight eight of their last ten, and the Boston Red
Sox they've also won eight straight nine of their last ten. Though,
But how about this for the Boston Red Sox. This
is what's interesting, because you know, I'm a stat skuy
and I was gonna save this for a little bit
later in the show for the Daily rundown, But the

Red Sox are the first team in Major League Baseball history,
NBA history, NHL history to win more than twenty six
games in a twenty nine game stretch while entering that
span ten or more games below five hundred. So the

Red Sox were, they were just left for dead basically, right.

The ten games below five hundred. I don't know, but whatever,
and it was I heard, I heard, I know, maybe
I was listening, and then they just went to the
last the thirty one and five in their last thirty

So there's still a lot of baseball be played. But
it's shaping up to be really the fact that the
Red Sox are now a factor. Yeah, and it's hard
to believe that when you not really a lot of
people because they're in third place in the Al East. However,
they're barely in third. And if you really look at between,

if you look at the Rays, the Yankees and the
Red Sox, and then you look on the National League side,
the Dodgers, the Brewers, the Braids, and any meat you
can well, not the Phillies because the Braves got eight
game lead, but those teams, if you put them all
in the same there's not three games that separate all

of them all five.

differential run scored runs against zero, yes, dead for you,
five hundred, and they've given up the same amount of

I love my baseball es basically this time of year
when we get about another month and get into the playoffs,

because that's that will uh, I'll be watching a lot
of baseball playoffs.

fire right now in Atlanta. Also, how they've been playing.
You know again, people are forgetting about the Braves in
my opinion, they've won seventy games already.

Yeah, and they're just right behind, as Rocky was talking
about the Brewers there, who are seventy two and forty three,
So they're nipping on the hills of the Milwaukee Brews.
Brewers for the best record in baseball now it doesn't
mean anything right now because it's all about the postseason.

Oh yeah, you've got to have success in the postseason.
We do know that.

But you look at the Dodgers also again, Oh they're
breaking baseball. Everything is so bad. They've lost six in
a row now, two of their last ten. Yeah, they
have only one. So they've lost eight of their last ten.
Two and eight just goes.

To show you money don't buy everything by wins.

Now, again, the Dodgers seem to be one of those
type of teams just because of their depth and the
star power that they have, they might be able to
turn it on. And of course as it gets later
in the season, maybe things come into clearer picture or
there's a little bit more clarity as far as how
their rotation is going to be. You know, all of

those things. Now that you're somewhat changing things up bringing
Scoople in there. But I would say right now, I mean,
anything can happen in these baseball races and these Pennant races.
And I do like once we get a little bit closer,
So when you start getting into that twenty games left
in the season, yeah, that's when it starts getting a

little bit more magnified in terms of the pressure from
that standpoint. All right, we got to hit this break.
But when we come back, we will look at some
of the NFL current stars and could they stay with
one team like a Larry Fitzgerald got some thoughts on that.

But there's it seems like typically the people that I'm
with they don't like it. Yeah, so if we're you know,
getting one pizza or whatever, then I'm not the guy that, oh,
we gotta have pineapple, you know, I will equiesce say
all right, yeah, I'm good with whatever, cause in our
reality for pizza, I'm basically good for anything. Although I

probably don't just like a veggie pizza, but I'll eat
just a cheese pizza.

Oh yeah, yeah, I'm not a big fan of like
some of your like the specialty pizzas that they do,
like a barbecue or like a buffalo chicken.

Like I'm a barbecue chicken.

I know what you're saying, Like it's okay, but I'm
not like it's not something I look at and go, man.

I mean that is a staple, right, I mean again, yes,
to your point, Hey, if that's my default, I'm good
with it. Man, Yes, I am good and even to
a certain degree cheese pizza, I'm fine with that. But
pepperoni is I do think that's the staple. That's the classic,
that's the goat in terms of pizzas. From at least

Larry Fitzgerald and just his absolutely amazing career and not
taking anything away from anybody else that was are going
to be inducted into a Pro Football Hall of Fame
there on Saturday, But seventeen years one team, it's pretty impressive,

very impressive, and to have that type of career. So
you and I were talking, just be curious where some
of these current stars are and what's the likelihood that
they will stay with one organization. Okay, Okay, So we're

just going to start right off the bat. Patrick Mahomes again,
he was drafted tenth overall in twenty seventeen, and there's
no doubt he's rewritten record books there in Kansas City.
Three times Super Bowl not only champion, but MVP, two
time NFL MVP. And you have to look at it
from a contractual standpoint too. I mean, he has signed

a contract that basically keeps him at Kansas.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
City for life.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, and I think this is a situation where I
just cannot see Patrick Mahomes leaving Kansas City. I mean,
I think this is going to be probably some of
the world. They built a statue for Patrick Mahomes, and
I just don't see him leaving Kansas.

City, not at all. Yeah, it would. If he does,
it'd be on his own terms.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I think. I think you'd be crazy if you're Kansas
City to get rid of Patrick Mahomes. Now, when Andy Reid,
if he decides to retire, does Patrick Mahomes stay there
at Kansas City or does maybe he look to other
pastures kind of like a Tom Brady there towards the
end going, Man, I think I could get one more
super Bowl with Team X whatever that team might be.

Maybe it's AFC, maybe it's NFC, who knows, But could
you see without an Andy Reid there potentially a Patrick
Mahomes deciding to leave because again to your point, I
don't know that Kansas City gets rid of Patrick Mahomes.

No, No, yeah, they don't.

It would be one of the situations where he decides
right to change and again maybe you know, there's some
type of injury something that happens that that then he
makes a comeback.

And then he you know, go.

Somewhere and tries to finish out his career. I just
don't see that happening. So I don't think he'll ever
wear another team's jersey. Now here's somebody that I could
see wearing another jersey, Lamar Jackson.

Ooh yeah, yeah, Well, I mean it's already almost happened exactly.

He basically wanted out.

Do you remember until Baltimore Bye. He made a whole
post about it was.

Like, see you that's my point. I mean, this guy
has already had one foot out of the door. Now again,
Baltimore has built an entire offensive architecture around him. Yeah,
because of his dynamic playmaking ability and his skill set,
and he is a two time NFL MVP. But again
we've already had tension between him and the organization. Yes,

so now again, I know he stayed, he signed the extension,
you know all of that, right, But I think and
now John Harball is out of there, maybe he stays
you know, a little bit longer.

But it could also be like, Okay, is this the beginning.

Of the end for Lamar Jackson in his stay in
Baltimore based on his new relationship well coach and how
that you know all plays out. But I this is
definitely one that I would be more surprised if Lamar
Jackson stays with Baltimore for the rest of his career,
then I would be surprised if he goes to a

different team, and maybe even multiple.

Yeah, I was gonna say he might bounce around a
little bit. Yeah, I would be curious. There's the fun
part of the game too. Where would he fit? I mean,
obviously it'd probably be whoever the highest bidder at that point,
but I agree from a scheme fit standpoint, I'm just
trying to think where, because I mean, he's done obviously
pretty well there in Baltimore.

Oh yeah, yeah, that's trying. I'm saying they've built around him.

Oh yeah, yes, his skill set, he would almost have
to fit in somewhere to a degree, like it wouldn't
be as tailored a system.

No, it probably like he probably wouldn't fit.

I don't know if he'd fit in a Shanahan type
offense because it's just not built with the way that
even though it's like super quarterback friendly, I don't know
he's I feel like, at least the way Brock Purty runs,
it's pretty like reliant on accuracy, and not that Lamar
isn't accurate, but his big thing is obviously his legs,
his escapability, his way to maneuver and manipulate a pocket.

So I don't know, I'd be curious to see where
he would he would land if he if he left.

Yeah, I do think his quarterback skills as what we
would say a prototypical quarterback, his arm, the accuracy. When
you factor all of it, I think he's better than
we probably give him credit for, or at least I know. Yeah,
from my perspective, I didn't think he would be able
to be an elite quarterback in the NFL. Now again,

when you have the running to ability that he has,
but it's not like he runs all the time.

No he doesn't. Yeah, he really doesn't. I mean he will.
I mean, that's definitely part of his game.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
But I think he's a much better passer, and he's
proved to me he's a much better passer than I
thought he was, especially because in college it was yes,
he can make some throws, but it was more of, hey, Lamar,
everybody get out of the way, let him go, you know,
and you go make a play, Lamar.

In the NFL, he just you just can't do that necessarily.
But he has the ability to do that at times.
But you have to be a passer in the NFL.

him definitely leaving Baltimore.

Who doesn't he He just seems to be, I mean,
the perfect quarterback for the city of Buffalo, That's my point.

He just seems to be the blue collar guy, loves
cold weather, whatever it is. He just seems to be
that raw type of guy, you know again out of Wyoming,
and it's almost like that western New York persona. And yeah,
I mean he's he's of course, he's helped them be
perennial contenders.

Oh yeah, just hasn't been able to get over the
hump from that side of things.

But hmm, would this is a tough one for me.

I do wonder if the clock's ticking a little bit
on Josh Allen, because now you now you got my
german out the door. Now now now there's no more excuses.
You got a new head coach bringing a new offensive coordinator.
All right, Josh, If you can't do it now, at
what point does Buffalo have to look at it and go,
we love you, man, but we're not going.

To be able to get over the hump with you.
I could see that.

I could see the organization getting to that type of
point even or even the fan base. Yeah, well that's
what I'm saying, Yes, the fan base and then the organization,
you know, hearing all of the chatter from the fan base,
and of course not that they're going to make a
decision just based on what the fans are saying, but
you do want to try to appease.

And at that point, if the.

Fan base is that loud, then people in the organization
they're probably they're aware of it also, you know, so
you know, once it gets to that point, they've probably
already made their decision. They've already been looking, yes, as
far as what their pathway would be. But I I
could see a scenario where Josh Allen is not in Buffalo.

Yeah, I could see that too, And I do wonder
to an extent.

I mean, obviously Josh doesn't necessarily seem like this guy,
but I mean part of part of going into the
NFL is you do want to win at all.

You want to win.

You have that competitor in you, does Josh Allen look
to greener pastures? Is maybe he look at it and go, hey, look,
I just feel like I'm not getting enough support here
from maybe either the head coach or the offensive coordinator.
I feel like things aren't clicking. They don't give me
the weapons that I need.

Could I go somewhere.

Else that has better weapons or a better defense or
whatever I might need to get me a ring.

Doesn't seem like that kind of guy. But at the
end of the day, they're all competitors.

about it, I mean there is self interest, oh of course, yeah, so,
and you know, how can you balance that so to speak?
That's an interesting one right there. All right, that's quarterbacks,
and of course right now, I mean you look at

the quarterback landscape. I mean it's the Kirk Cousins, the
Baker Mayfield's, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers. They're all on multiple teams.
Oh yeah, so this is not something that we typically see.
That's what again makes it so when you look at
it in terms of Larry Fitzgerald and what he was
able to do. Yeah, all right, how about on the

defensive side. Okay, what about like a TJ.

Watt. I'm not even gonna lie like I love TJ.

I was in the position where I was like, hey,
look that contract you're wanting to give him. I don't
know if he's worth it. Like I was even looking
at it, like you do you extend to TJ Watt
because even the last two years, I feel like that
production has dropped quite a bit. Now, obviously this could
be a bounce back here. I don't know what's gonna
happen going in this season, but last couple of seasons,

I've been looking at that contract on huh. I don't know,
Like there's a part of me that looks at the
loyalty and like wanting to be like, well, yeah, but
like TJ's our guy.

But then also like you'd probably.

Get a lot for TJ Watt, so too, I wouldn't
fault it, I mean, especially nor more Mike Tomlin. So
there's I mean, you've got you got a whole regime
change there with Mike McCarthy. I just I don't know
that they would. I don't think they would move on
from him. I don't get the sense that TJ would
move on from Pittsburgh, but.

defensive lineup that's a little bit different than some of
these other players. But I think in twenty twenty six,
it's even harder for guys to stay with one team
because I think to keep a superstar on one roster now,

especially if you're looking at ten years or so, I mean,
one guy's got to be healthy for his career and
that's hard to do. That's hard to do, or I
mean fifteen year career. I mean, are we going to
see many of.

Those outside of your long snappers and everything exactly?

That's right, Yeah, we probably won't, but I think it.
You know, I mean, you basically have to have the
health of the player go your way if you're the
organization I'm saying, and even from the player has to

You need the elite.

Scouting that you were able to pick up. Yep, this
guy is going to be the star he's going to
live up to the expectations. You've got to be very
proactive in your salary cap management because you've got to
take that into consideration for all of these guys now,

I was gonna say, that's that's one thing that I
don't know that Larry Fitzgerald really had to deal with
as much there as the bloat that we have right now.

at a Larry Fitzgerald type of caliber from a wide
receiver standpoint, and have a quarterback that throws to you. Yeah,

gonna take a lot of money to keep that quarterback
there on that team a year over year.

That's just how it goes these days. These contracts keep
getting bigger and bigger. And there's also.

Something that I feel like we look at more and more,
and that's the production. If you've got to stay like
you do, you've got to be at that elite level
because these teams, Yes, there's loyalty, but there's also a
business aspect of it of Look, man, we.

Love you to pieces, but there's a rookie.

That's coming out of this draft class right now that
is already doing everything that you're doing right now.

It's exponentially cheaper, that's right, exponentially cheaper.

And that's what I'm talking about with a salary cap
management aspect of it. And then also, I mean, you
do have to have an organization from a cultural standpoint
that players don't want to leave, that they are happy,
you know, where they are. And again, some of these guys,
I mean, they do become almost identities, are the identity

of the entire city. And that's what I'm talking about
with Josh Allen with Buffalo. Now, I mean, when you
think of Kansas City, you think of Patrick Mahomes, yes,
Or if you think of Patrick Mahomes, you think of
Kansas City with their hand in hand, their hand in hand.

And that's another thing.

But the salary type of situations in correlation to the
productivity that you're talking about, that's where it will be interesting.
You know, does you know the cap does it force
a trade that right? Hey, You've got to do what's

Lamar Jackson stay in Baltimore? Will A Patrick Mahomes stay
in Kansas City? Yes, I think, without shadow of a doubt,
Patrick Mahomes is going to stay. Lamar Jackson, I think

that great talent is getting kind of up in age

was it Scubic or whatever that trade. But here's kind
of flight under the radar. And I don't know, not
a lot of talk about it, but the Boston Red
Sox are about as hot as anybody that can be.
They had that long winding streak, they lost a couple.
Now they're on another winding streak, and low and behold,

they're right on the Yankees heels for a second in
that American League East, and they're nipping at the race,
which are in first. So the Boston Red Sox to me,
are and and I tell you, I'm just thinking about
the postseason if it gets down, you know, when we
get down to the postseason, and I mean, if you

got the Yankees and the Red Sox and the Braids
and the Dodgers in and in postseason play, I mean,
that's just gonna be fun. I mean, not with Danny Milwaukee,
because they still have by a game or two over
the Braids the best record in baseball. But the Brewers

still yet and they got really good team. But I'm
just talking about the names. I mean, if you got
the Yankees and the Red Sox and in the American League,
and if you got the Braves and the Dodgers in
the National League and the Phillies right there, I mean,
it's shaping up to be a really good nothing against

the White Sox, the Cleveland Indians, those guys that are
struggling around five hundred and they'll they'll get in there,
or the Mariners or the Rangers and the Astros, whoever's
but I'm I'm I'm talking about the teams that are
for you know, they got seventy wins, are flirting with it.

Oh yes, well and remember it's the Guardians now for Cleveland.

Red Sox are the first team in Major League Baseball history,
NBA history, NHL history to win more than twenty six
games in a twenty nine game stretch while entering that
span ten or more games below five hundred. So the

people because they're in third place in the Al East. However,

if you look at the Rays, the Yankees and the
Red Sox, and then you look on the National League side,
the Dodgers, the Brewers, the Braids, and any meat you
can well, not the Phillies because the Braves got eight
game lead, but those teams, if you put them all
in the same there's not three games that separate all

Now, again, the Dodgers seem to be one of those
type of teams just because of their depth and the

there's a little bit more clarity as far as how
their rotation is going to be. You know, all of

those things. Now that you're somewhat changing things up bringing
Scoople in there. But I would say right now, I mean,
anything can happen in these baseball races and these Pennant races.
And I do like once we get a little bit closer,
So when you start getting into that twenty games left
in the season, yeah, that's when it starts getting a

little bit more magnified in terms of the pressure from
that standpoint. All right, we got to hit this break.

to be inducted into a Pro Football Hall of Fame
there on Saturday, But seventeen years one team, it's pretty impressive,

very impressive, and to have that type of career. So
you and I were talking, just be curious where some
of these current stars are and what's the likelihood that
they will stay with one organization. Okay, Okay, So we're

just going to start right off the bat. Patrick Mahomes again,
he was drafted tenth overall in twenty seventeen, and there's
no doubt he's rewritten record books there in Kansas City.
Three times Super Bowl not only champion, but MVP, two
time NFL MVP. And you have to look at it
from a contractual standpoint too. I mean, he has signed

a contract that basically keeps him at Kansas.

City for life.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, and I think this is a situation where I
just cannot see Patrick Mahomes leaving Kansas City. I mean,
I think this is going to be probably some of
the world. They built a statue for Patrick Mahomes, and
I just don't see him leaving Kansas.

City, not at all. Yeah, it would. If he does,
it'd be on his own terms.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
I think. I think you'd be crazy if you're Kansas
City to get rid of Patrick Mahomes. Now, when Andy Reid,
if he decides to retire, does Patrick Mahomes stay there
at Kansas City or does maybe he look to other
pastures kind of like a Tom Brady there towards the
end going, Man, I think I could get one more
super Bowl with Team X whatever that team might be.

Maybe it's AFC, maybe it's NFC, who knows, But could
you see without an Andy Reid there potentially a Patrick
Mahomes deciding to leave because again to your point, I
don't know that Kansas City gets rid of Patrick Mahomes.

It would be one of the situations where he decides
right to change and again maybe you know, there's some
type of injury something that happens that that then he
makes a comeback.

Somewhere and tries to finish out his career. I just

He basically wanted out.

Do you remember until Baltimore Bye. He made a whole

Like, see you that's my point. I mean, this guy
has already had one foot out of the door. Now again,
Baltimore has built an entire offensive architecture around him. Yeah,
because of his dynamic playmaking ability and his skill set,
and he is a two time NFL MVP. But again
we've already had tension between him and the organization. Yes,

so now again, I know he stayed, he signed the extension,
you know all of that, right, But I think and
now John Harball is out of there, maybe he stays
you know, a little bit longer.

But it could also be like, Okay, is this the beginning.

Of the end for Lamar Jackson in his stay in
Baltimore based on his new relationship well coach and how
that you know all plays out. But I this is
definitely one that I would be more surprised if Lamar
Jackson stays with Baltimore for the rest of his career,
then I would be surprised if he goes to a

different team, and maybe even multiple.

Yeah, I was gonna say he might bounce around a
little bit. Yeah, I would be curious. There's the fun
part of the game too. Where would he fit? I mean,
obviously it'd probably be whoever the highest bidder at that point,
but I agree from a scheme fit standpoint, I'm just
trying to think where, because I mean, he's done obviously
pretty well there in Baltimore.

Oh yeah, yeah, that's trying. I'm saying they've built around him.

Oh yeah, yes, his skill set, he would almost have
to fit in somewhere to a degree, like it wouldn't
be as tailored a system.

No, it probably like he probably wouldn't fit.

I don't know if he'd fit in a Shanahan type
offense because it's just not built with the way that
even though it's like super quarterback friendly, I don't know
he's I feel like, at least the way Brock Purty runs,
it's pretty like reliant on accuracy, and not that Lamar
isn't accurate, but his big thing is obviously his legs,
his escapability, his way to maneuver and manipulate a pocket.

So I don't know, I'd be curious to see where
he would he would land if he if he left.

Yeah, I do think his quarterback skills as what we
would say a prototypical quarterback, his arm, the accuracy. When
you factor all of it, I think he's better than
we probably give him credit for, or at least I know. Yeah,
from my perspective, I didn't think he would be able
to be an elite quarterback in the NFL. Now again,

when you have the running to ability that he has,
but it's not like he runs all the time.

No he doesn't. Yeah, he really doesn't. I mean he will.
I mean, that's definitely part of his game.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
But I think he's a much better passer, and he's
proved to me he's a much better passer than I
thought he was, especially because in college it was yes,
he can make some throws, but it was more of, hey, Lamar,
everybody get out of the way, let him go, you know,
and you go make a play, Lamar.

That's it.

In the NFL, he just you just can't do that necessarily.
But he has the ability to do that at times.
But you have to be a passer in the NFL.

You just have to.

There's no two ways around it. But I could see
him definitely leaving Baltimore.

Yeah, all right. How about this quarterback Josh Allen?

Who doesn't he He just seems to be, I mean,
the perfect quarterback for the city of Buffalo, That's my point.

He just seems to be the blue collar guy, loves
cold weather, whatever it is. He just seems to be
that raw type of guy, you know again out of Wyoming,
and it's almost like that western New York persona. And yeah,
I mean he's he's of course, he's helped them be
perennial contenders.

Oh yeah, just hasn't been able to get over the
hump from that side of things.

But hmm, would this is a tough one for me.

I do wonder if the clock's ticking a little bit
on Josh Allen, because now you now you got my
german out the door. Now now now there's no more excuses.
You got a new head coach bringing a new offensive coordinator.
All right, Josh, If you can't do it now, at
what point does Buffalo have to look at it and go,
we love you, man, but we're not going.

To be able to get over the hump with you.
I could see that.

I could see the organization getting to that type of
point even or even the fan base. Yeah, well that's
what I'm saying, Yes, the fan base and then the organization,
you know, hearing all of the chatter from the fan base,
and of course not that they're going to make a
decision just based on what the fans are saying, but
you do want to try to appease.

And at that point, if the.

Fan base is that loud, then people in the organization
they're probably they're aware of it also, you know, so
you know, once it gets to that point, they've probably
already made their decision. They've already been looking, yes, as
far as what their pathway would be. But I I
could see a scenario where Josh Allen is not in Buffalo.

Yeah, I could see that too, And I do wonder
to an extent.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
I mean, obviously Josh doesn't necessarily seem like this guy,
but I mean part of part of going into the
NFL is you do want to win at all.

You want to win.

You have that competitor in you, does Josh Allen look
to greener pastures? Is maybe he look at it and go, hey, look,
I just feel like I'm not getting enough support here
from maybe either the head coach or the offensive coordinator.
I feel like things aren't clicking. They don't give me
the weapons that I need.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Could I go somewhere.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Else that has better weapons or a better defense or
whatever I might need to get me a ring.

And again, he.

Doesn't seem like that kind of guy. But at the
end of the day, they're all competitors.

They are well and as we had Brian Kaye talking
about it, I mean there is self interest, oh of course, yeah, so,
and you know, how can you balance that so to speak?
That's an interesting one right there. All right, that's quarterbacks,
and of course right now, I mean you look at

the quarterback landscape. I mean it's the Kirk Cousins, the
Baker Mayfield's, Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers. They're all on multiple teams.
Oh yeah, so this is not something that we typically see.
That's what again makes it so when you look at
it in terms of Larry Fitzgerald and what he was
able to do. Yeah, all right, how about on the

defensive side. Okay, what about like a TJ.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Watt. I'm not even gonna lie like I love TJ.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
I was in the position where I was like, hey,
look that contract you're wanting to give him. I don't
know if he's worth it. Like I was even looking
at it, like you do you extend to TJ Watt
because even the last two years, I feel like that
production has dropped quite a bit. Now, obviously this could
be a bounce back here. I don't know what's gonna
happen going in this season, but last couple of seasons,

I've been looking at that contract on huh. I don't know,
Like there's a part of me that looks at the
loyalty and like wanting to be like, well, yeah, but
like TJ's our guy.

But then also like you'd probably.

Get a lot for TJ Watt, so too, I wouldn't
fault it, I mean, especially nor more Mike Tomlin. So
there's I mean, you've got you got a whole regime
change there with Mike McCarthy. I just I don't know
that they would. I don't think they would move on
from him. I don't get the sense that TJ would
move on from Pittsburgh, but.

He did make it pretty clear.

I think in his last extension or whatever, he only
wanted to play for coach Tomlin.

defensive side. I think front offices they get cold feet
with extensions for defensive guys.

But also look at Cam Hayward there for the Steelers

it's harder for a defensive guy to stay with one team.

Yeah. Look at Michael Parsons. Oh yeah, if you're not
it is prime, Yes, exactly, I mean it's it's it's crazy.

So I just don't know if you're going to see
on the defensive side, you know, those type of guys,
even like a Max Crosby, I mean he's going to
get shipped out.

I mean he basically was until yeah, soil the Ravens
got cold fee.

Bosa No, I mean I could.

you know, looking at the same type of situation and
how functional can Joe Burrow be And I'm saying it

Know, I think when you're looking at some of these
players and there's other players you can talk about that
these are just the ones that right off the top
of my head, Oh just okay, who are some of
these players? Because you've also got like was Cam Jordan

you start talking offensive linemen and maybe in the interior

defensive lineup that's a little bit different than some of
these other players. But I think in twenty twenty six,
it's even harder for guys to stay with one team
because I think to keep a superstar on one roster now,

especially if you're looking at ten years or so, I mean,
one guy's got to be healthy for his career and
that's hard to do. That's hard to do, or I
mean fifteen year career. I mean, are we going to
see many of.

Those outside of your long snappers and everything exactly?

That's right, Yeah, we probably won't, but I think it.
You know, I mean, you basically have to have the
health of the player go your way if you're the
organization I'm saying, and even from the player has to
go their way, but.

You need the elite.

Scouting that you were able to pick up. Yep, this
guy is going to be the star he's going to
live up to the expectations. You've got to be very
proactive in your salary cap management because you've got to
take that into consideration for all of these guys now,
even more so because the numbers are getting staggering.

I was gonna say, that's that's one thing that I
don't know that Larry Fitzgerald really had to deal with
as much there as the bloat that we have right now.

Especially especially quarterback contracts.

I mean, you want to be you want to be
at a Larry Fitzgerald type of caliber from a wide
receiver standpoint, and have a quarterback that throws to you. Yeah,
you're taking pay cuts somewhere because that quarterback's gonna it's
gonna take a lot of money to keep that quarterback
there on that team a year over year.

That's just how it goes these days. These contracts keep
getting bigger and bigger. And there's also.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Something that I feel like we look at more and more,
and that's the production. If you've got to stay like
you do, you've got to be at that elite level
because these teams, Yes, there's loyalty, but there's also a
business aspect of it of Look, man, we.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Love you to pieces, but there's a rookie.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
That's coming out of this draft class right now that
is already doing everything that you're doing right now.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
It's exponentially cheaper, that's right, exponentially cheaper.

And that's what I'm talking about with a salary cap
management aspect of it. And then also, I mean, you
do have to have an organization from a cultural standpoint
that players don't want to leave, that they are happy,
you know, where they are. And again, some of these guys,
I mean, they do become almost identities, are the identity

of the entire city. And that's what I'm talking about
with Josh Allen with Buffalo. Now, I mean, when you
think of Kansas City, you think of Patrick Mahomes, yes,
Or if you think of Patrick Mahomes, you think of
Kansas City with their hand in hand, their hand in hand.

And that's another thing.

But the salary type of situations in correlation to the
productivity that you're talking about, that's where it will be interesting.
You know, does you know the cap does it force
a trade that right? Hey, You've got to do what's
best financially for the organization. And that's what will be

very interesting, and you know it'll be you know, will
Lamar Jackson stay in Baltimore? Will A Patrick Mahomes stay
in Kansas City? Yes, I think, without shadow of a doubt,
Patrick Mahomes is going to stay. Lamar Jackson, I think
he's I think it's just a matter of time before

surprised me in terms of the NFL career he's had

so far coming out of college. And this is a
great one from Antonio. Never in a million years would
I have thought Lamar would have a better career than
Deshaun Watson. That twenty sixteen game between those two was
one for the ages. Never heard Death Valley that loud
in my life, Antonio. I was there for that game also,

and it was absolutely epic. You talking about a performance
for the ages for both of those quarterbacks. Lamar Jackson
two hundred and ninety five yards passing twenty seven to
forty four, a touchdown and an interception. He had thirty
one carries for one hundred and sixty two rushing yards

and two touchdowns. And then Deshaun Watson had three hundred
and six passing yards twenty of thirty one, five touchdowns,
but he had three interceptions. And it was back and forth,
and it took a defensive stand there, but it looked like.

Yeah, and this was where you had the number five
team in the country, Clemson and number three Louisville coming
in to Death Valley, and I mean it was incredible.

I still think DeShawn should have won the Heistman that.

I'm I am seriously curious about this just in terms
of are are we coming back to the running back
as a somewhat focal point of NFL offenses because it
seems to be that, hey, these organizations are spending some
money right now.

You've got obviously Detroit there that relies heavily on a

we've got three guys that.

seventeen percent of the time. So Miles Garrett, we know,
last year set the record twenty three sacks and he
