Speaker 1 (00:04):
And 84% of Americans want the Save America Act! But
anybody who follows this process closely knows that we don't
have the votes.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
You tried your best, and you failed miserably.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
The lesson is, never try.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
The proof that you mailed your ballot on or just
before election day, it's not just a postmark, you can
handwrite the date.
Speaker 5 (00:29):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
And that.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
This is this horrible thing to say about.
Speaker 6 (00:33):
They will remove 25 million people off the road.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Shut up!
Speaker 4 (00:39):
This is our Signal Storm podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Ha ha ha.
Speaker 7 (00:46):
Ha ha ha!
Speaker 6 (01:08):
It was a fascinating discussion, folks, on MSNBS. It was
detailing for us the extent these left wingers will go
to to rig elections, how how far they will go.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
They will even.
Speaker 6 (01:20):
Turn their backs on their beloved government if it suits them. Right.
Government right now is in the in the hands of
the America First coalition. Because of that, there are rules
coming down that want to stop democrats from cheating at
the ballot box well democrats want to cheat so they're
willing to get rid for the time being of the
of their so-called institutions their vaunted big government institutions bypassing
(01:47):
them if you will to get the job done which
is to rig elections and here's how the discussion went
i want you to listen to the host the first
words out of her mouth listen.
Speaker 7 (01:58):
Secretary Griswold, I want you to just humor me for
a minute because I had this question from Mary McCord
yesterday and I wasn't able to ask her about it
because we ran out of time. But are there any
conversations happening to try to circumvent an adverse ruling or
a worst case scenario by pulling in players, the private
sector players like FedEx or UPS to try to ensure
(02:22):
that no matter what happens in the courts, people get
their mail-in ballots?
Speaker 2 (02:26):
People.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Not citizens, just people.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
MSNBS is committed to people getting their ballots, whether they
be foreign nationals voting illegally, criminal illegal aliens. It doesn't
really matter, just as long as people, not citizens, get
their ballots. Folks, there was a blue ribbon commission that
was put on during the Reagan administration. It was made
up of James Baker, headed up by James Baker and
(02:53):
by Jimmy Carter, a bipartisan commission. commission that came up
with an analysis of our voting system.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
You know what they found out?
Speaker 6 (03:01):
They found out the easiest way to rig and cheat
was universal mail-in balloting, which is what MSNBS is pushing for.
And these left-wing states are pushing for so much so
that they would be willing to get rid of their
government monopoly on the mail.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Which is what the U.S. Postal Service is, to go
with the private sector.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
They're that desperate, folks, to cheat at the ballot box
that they would go to the private sector to get
it done.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
That's a great question. And so, for example, using private
sector postal delivery is something we have contemplated in the past,
especially during the pandemic when there was uncertainty of the
Postal Service policy. And it is actually not feasible. It
would be extremely costly, number one. And number two, a
(03:52):
lot of those private mail delivery systems will not carry
mail all the way into very rural areas. So for
various reasons, it is not feasible.
Speaker 6 (04:05):
Jaw dropping, isn't it? The extent to which they would
go to get this done, cheating at the ballot box.
Of course, Jenna Griswold, Colorado's embattled Secretary of State, now
running to be Attorney General. She's faced multiple controversies and scandals,
allegations of corruption, of course, and destroying official government documents,
(04:25):
partisan mismanagement while she's been in.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Office as Secretary of State.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
She's now the Democrat nominee for AG because nobody fails
up like a Democrat. Anyway, so this is how these
cats work. This is what they do. So, I oppose
them for this and myriad other reasons. One of the
things they want to do is to relax the voting
(04:50):
standards so they can give criminal illegal aliens the vote.
And there's a problem with being so accommodating to criminal
illegal aliens.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
They're here. They're criminals. They're committing crimes in our country.
Speaker 6 (05:03):
It's unacceptable for anybody who is here illegally to be
committing crimes.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
It's unacceptable for them to be here.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
And here is DHS Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen fielding a
question from a member of the biased press saying, well,
come on, only 1% of these criminal illegal aliens has
driver's licenses as if 1% of what? An estimated 40
to 45 million, which puts it where? 400,000, 450,000 illegal
aliens driving on America's roadways. And that's not to mention
(05:41):
all the permits given to criminal illegal aliens who don't
speak the language, who have been given commercial driver's licenses,
given weapons to drive around, these massive big rigs. So
here's the exchange Mark Wayne Mellon had with one of
these left-wing disgusting reporters.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
Listen to this.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
John, let me talk about that 1%. Are you saying
1% is okay? Because that 1% is what caused this
right here. 1% is one too many. I said this
in my remarks. Every single illegal that maims or kills
an individual is 100% preventable.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (06:20):
If the illegal aliens were not allowed to break into
our country by our government, then they wouldn't be here
to kill or maim or do other unspeakable crimes against
the people of the United States. Yet they are here
by the millions in the United States, and they are
doing harm to our people. Now, the leftists, you understand
when they ask this question. it's only 1% and, and
(06:43):
Americans kill other Americans in roadways. Yes, yes, that's very,
that's very true. There are Americans who get in accidents
and kill other Americans. Does that necessarily mean we must
import it from around the globe so we can have more?
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Is that, is that what that means? The implication is
illegal aliens. They're just like us in America.
Speaker 6 (07:02):
They're just like, they're just undocumented Americans.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Oh, give me a freaking break.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I'm trying to prevent every one of them. I don't
care if it's a fraction of 1%. I'm coming after you.
I'm removing you from the road because it should never
take place. Every death at the hands of an illegal
is one too many. So you make the percentage about 1%.
Are you willing to take that 1% if it was
your daughter?
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
How about that?
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Uh, You member of the biased press, you sick puke.
How would you, why don't you guys volunteer to have
your family members killed by criminal illegal aliens? And the
rest of us can go on and live in relative
safety while you are subjected to your beloved criminal illegal aliens.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Then 1% is plenty, John. 1% is plenty. A fraction
of 1% is plenty. 0.1% of 1% is 0.1% too many.
They should never be out there because the accident should
never take place. I look at this as I'm trying
to keep my six kids safe on the road when
they're out there driving and my one grandchild while they're
(08:11):
riding with their parents. It's all preventable and they shouldn't
be on a roadway.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Damn, damn straight. Damn straight. Full stop.
Speaker 6 (08:20):
They should not be on the roadway. They shouldn't be
in the damn country. There is no legal predicate for
them to be here. Much to the chagrin when I
say things like that to the establishment Republicans and the Democrats.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
In the Uniparty.
Speaker 6 (08:33):
They want them here to rig the election and to
give their constituents in anti-American big corporations money.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
You know, a cheap labor force. But I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
It's too high a price to pay. The culture clash,
the erosion of the American tradition, because there's no insistence
on assimilation here. And not to mention, you can't get
them in insufficient numbers without opening the borders wide open
and allowing all the criminals to stream on through and
to harm Americans. Folks, what we heard from Mark Wayne
(09:06):
Mullen was just common sense and Republicans who are trying
to do the right thing. As we've been detailing most
of the week, there are Republicans out there who are
committed to socialists and to communists and are committed to
them winning in the upcoming midterm election. And there are
those inside the Republican Party who say it's all hands
on deck.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
We're going to unite.
Speaker 6 (09:25):
We're going to unite in opposition to socialists and Marxists.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
He is the Speaker of the Texas House, Dustin Burroughs.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
Mr.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Speaker, welcome to the program.
Speaker 8 (13:22):
I appreciate you having me on. Sorry I couldn't get
the rumble to work this morning, but I'm glad I
get to call in and visit with you.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Well, right back at you, sir.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
And look, I want to do this interview in two parts,
because I've cc'd you enough or included you enough on
enough social media posts. I'm sure you have seen interactions
that I've had with you and how you came into
being the speaker. We'll spend a couple of questions on
the past, and then I want to focus on today, because...
(13:52):
as I've been telling the audience over the last couple
of days, you're demonstrating something to me and to a
lot of conservatives that we're hungry for, and it's something
that's called leadership. But we'll get into that here in
part two. Part one, you've seen my posts, and so
you understand my angst and a lot of conservatives' angst.
(14:16):
Do you understand why conservatives took issue with the way
you attained the speakership with a majority of Democrat votes
over Republicans.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
In other words, do you get it? Do you understand?
Speaker 8 (14:28):
So, Chris, look, I do. You have to understand my background.
For the last, my entire adult life, I've been part
of the party long before I ran for office at
the state level. I was a precinct chair. I was
the parliamentarian to our local county. My wife was the
Republican of the Republican women. And I've always been a conservative.
If you look at the bills that I championed and
(14:50):
filed as my time before Speaker, that's always the things
that I wanted to do. And I think that a
lot of people had consternation over me and how I
became Speaker when they saw the things we were able
to accomplish. Long-time goals of the conservative movement get accomplished.
I hope that actions speak louder than words and other things.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
And I will go over that record because I think
it's going to be a nice bridge into part two.
And the last thing I'll talk about of the past
is this. A Democrat speaker pro tem in a Republican
controlled house. Democrats with the power that they didn't earn
at the ballot box as chairman, whether they're called vice
(15:35):
chairman or chairman or whatever power they didn't earn. A
left wing parliamentarian still in the mix in the Texas House.
in a GOP majority Texas House. Are those things going
to change in the next legislative session?
Speaker 8 (15:50):
So, Chris, we have one parliamentarian, Sharon Carter. She is
not a left-wing Democrat. And there's a lot of things that,
you know, we could sit there and talk about. And,
you know, certainly the members are going to have a chance,
a full chance, to debate the rules and all of
the things next session. But here's what I want to,
you know, just really make sure in talking about the bridge.
We did have a very... good productive conservative session i'm
(16:15):
not going to go in use the tagline the most
conservative session history maybe it was maybe it wasn't but
we took all of the issues that were important i
think to republican voters we made sure that we got
most of them passed in the things that uh... we're
working on during the interim when you look at the
interim charges that we laid out i think they're very
responsive to the voters and certainly you know i believe
(16:37):
that the house is leading on many.
Speaker 6 (16:38):
Of them the speaker of the texas house dustin burroughs
is our guest right now and So now I want
to transition to part two of the interview, which is
what I've been observing. And you correct me if I'm
if I'm wrong. I have observed subtle changes in your
outward rhetoric and the policies. And you already referenced some
of them in the victories for the conservative movement in
(17:00):
the last session. A shift that I observed to the right,
you know, government school, school choice, rather getting a pivoting
away from an emphasis on government education. school choice, redistricting
was also huge. Is my observation, just about you personally,
have I been noticing something that maybe I didn't see before,
(17:23):
or has there been a change in you over the
last couple of years?
Speaker 8 (17:29):
So I'm going to go with the latter, because I
think it's kind of what I was trying to indicate.
I live in Lubbock, Texas. I was born and raised here.
I have been the same person for 20 years on
my political ideology and my outlooks. And I'm raising three boys,
you know, in this world. And anybody who's raising, you know,
children and boys in this environment has to be concerned
(17:52):
about preserving, you know, a Texas and a country that
they can strive in, that they can thrive in, that
they can work hard and actually be better, that they
can be good husbands, they can be good fathers. and
they can go to school and not be indoctrinated, but
actually be educated. And that's always been my guiding principle
for 20 years. I'm not always the most public person, Chris.
(18:14):
In fact, you know, I rarely do, you know, a
lot of interviews or a lot of TV because as
a speaker, it's really about the members and not about
the speaker. And so perhaps it's just one of those things.
I've not been a known quantity to many people, especially
in other parts of the state. When I originally announced
for speaker, my local county party, my Republican women, they
were thrilled. And they are not moderate or left-leaning Republicans.
(18:38):
They are very conservative people because they knew the type
of man and husband and guiding philosophy that I've had,
and they were very supportive from the outset, those who
knew me the best.
Speaker 6 (18:48):
The Speaker of the Texas House, Dustin Burrow, is our
guest right now, folks, on the Chris Salcedo Show. And, sir,
I want to see something that may actually discuss with you,
something that maybe you have seen that maybe prompted.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
a shift, maybe.
Speaker 6 (19:03):
Raise the alarm bells, as many of us have been seeing,
where the Democrat Party is going. Not my current job here,
but I've worked for companies that prohibited me from calling
Democrats socialists, even though many of these Democrats have out
and out called themselves socialists. Some of them even called
themselves communists. They are now winning elections. Give me your reaction, Mr. Speaker,
(19:25):
on a Democrat Party that is embracing socialism, embracing communism,
and in texas embracing radicalized islamic fundamentalism.
Speaker 8 (19:36):
Look i can't believe we're having this debate in this
day and time you know my background when i was
in school i was an economics major i know that
you know the free market and capitalism and you know
just the basic things are country was founded upon, you know,
an acknowledgement that our rights come from God and not government,
that government's job is to be responsive to the people
(19:58):
and treat all men and women equally, whereas communism, it
is a godless form of government that tries to make
all men and women equal with the heavy hand of it.
It has been unsuccessful every single place it has come,
and people have suffered under communism for years and decades.
When you look at New York City, that has put
a communist in charge of the financial capital of the world,
(20:21):
the first thing they're doing is starting government-run grocery stores.
That is exactly what the communists did when they took
over Venezuela. When you look at Michigan, that just put
somebody in power, when you look at California, I mean, look,
we need to do big things on property taxes, but
California not only taxes your property, it taxes your productivity,
(20:43):
your income, your capital gains. You can't even escape taxes
in California.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
When you die.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
They have a death tax. We are watching lots of
places in this country fall to this new ideology, and
Texas is standing in the gap. That is why this
election cycle is so important. Our tagline that we've gone
around the state, if you've followed me on social media,
I've been everywhere I can, crisscrossing the state, is one party,
(21:09):
one mission. We are a united Republican party with one mission,
which is to win in November and make sure Texas
stays Texas.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
And you know what?
Speaker 6 (21:18):
And I'm hearing that, and I want to dig down
deeper into that with the Speaker of the Texas House,
Dustin Burroughs. But, you know, we do have Democrats that
are in Texas who have embraced socialism, embraced communism, and
they work in the legislative body that you work in.
(21:39):
And I guess what I'm asking you is, do you
recognize the threat posed by something I've been talking about,
the Red-Green Alliance, the communists uniting with the jihadists? They
have nothing else in common other than their desire to
unwind the U.S. Constitution, unwind the United.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
States of America.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
Are are you seeing with clear eyes the embrace of
the democrat party of these radical ideologies that are decidedly
anti-american anti-texan.
Speaker 8 (22:06):
We're watching in real time increase i will tell you
that every member republican member of the legislature i talked
to is talking about those very thanks and it is
certainly something that is concerning it is certainly something that
you know we're fighting to keep the governing majority in
the texas house and something that i know will be
addressed next session.
Speaker 6 (22:27):
I have been seeing something and hearing, mostly hearing, but
also seeing, as I noted to you, from individuals that
something that you have been doing, which is something that
we conservatives have been hungry for, which is leading. I heard,
and you correct me if I'm wrong on any of this,
I have heard, you've told your members that it's all
(22:47):
hands on deck. It's time to unite. It's time to
get behind the top of the ticket, which is Attorney
General Ken Paxton and Your actions have been described to me, sir,
as as a warrior, as true leadership, a determination to
win and not just win for the Republican, for having
(23:08):
an R in front of your name, but the principles,
the conservative principles that are behind it. And have I
been misinformed? Am I exaggerating or is this what your
mindset is, sir?
Speaker 8 (23:20):
I ordered some new Ken Paxton signs for my front yard,
my parents' front yard, and my neighbors' today. Look, it's personal.
I mean, I told you earlier, I'm raising three boys.
They're the most important thing to my wife and I.
When I look at the choices at the top of
the ticket, I was one of the first people to
(23:40):
fully endorse and come out and tell Ken Paxton, congratulations,
he is our party's nominee. It's a binary choice right now.
And I know and I believe fully that Ken Paxton
will fight to preserve a Texas and a United States
where my children can thrive, where they can go to
school and be educated, where they can hunt and they
(24:00):
can fish, and they can just be good men and
good husbands and good fathers. But I've encouraged every member
of the House to unite around the entire ticket, the
top of the ticket with Ken Paxton all the way down,
and fight and vote. We have to be a united party.
One thing that I will also mention to you, and
this is not something that, I don't know if I've
(24:22):
ever discussed it publicly, but I met with General Paxton
during session. And I'll tell you my side of it,
because it was a very good conversation. I told him,
you are the Republican Attorney General of the state of Texas.
Your success is the success of the state of Texas.
We talked about a lot of different things. And one
(24:42):
of the things that stuck out to me is he
was very passionate about making sure that we were able
to prosecute human trafficking, taking care of children and women
and victims of some of the worst behavior. And we
prioritized legislation that was important to the general to make
sure that we could do this. And he was fantastic
to work with on that. And even during the quorum
(25:03):
break that we had over the summer, his office was
very responsive, helping us restore quorums that we could take
care of the business of the state of Texas.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
And, sir, my information, just so everybody knows, my information
says the Speaker of the Texas House, isn't only using
rhetoric to support the Republican ticket. He is using the
power of his office to actually reinforce and institute policies
that would, that are telling everybody, Hey, let's get in
the same direction. And, um, I'll leave it there, sir. Uh,
(25:34):
Joe Strauss and, and Mr. Bonin refused to talk with
this show. Uh, Mr. Phelan, uh, appeared twice on our
program but as he began to implement in my opinion
left-wing priorities like for example the paxton impeachment he all
of a sudden his visits with us dried up before
i get to my last question i just want to
ask you what what can i anticipate from you will
(25:58):
the communication lines with the chris el sado show stay
open uh with you as we come into the legislative
session after we get past this this uh this election
and midterm election in 2026 Will we be able to
discuss with you, sir, the culture and the future of Texas?
Speaker 8 (26:16):
Yes, absolutely, Chris. I mean, this is, again, I don't
say yes to a lot of interviews and programs. I
was very excited, to be candid, to be on your
program today. I am proud of the work that we
were able to accomplish last session. I am proud of
the members of the Texas House and what they are
fighting for. We have some great new committees and interim charges,
(26:40):
and I can't wait to discuss with you and your
audience the things that, you know, as long as we
can retain a governing majority in the Texas House, that
we're going to fight to get accomplished next session. I
think your audience will be very proud of these members
as well.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
We've got a big hill to go up with the primary, sorry,
the primary, the 2026 midterm elections. Once we're over that hump,
we can start looking toward the legislative session next year.
I want to know about number one, your priorities. Number two,
please tell me that real property tax reform.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Is part of it.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
Yeah, that's the number one thing. It is a property
tax session. You know, a little bit of, you know, history.
I was the chair of Ways and Means in 2019,
worked with Senator Paul Bettencourt. We call, he's a property
tax brother. We fought the good fight to try to
rein in local government spending and He and I used
(27:34):
to go around Twitter and try to make sure that
when various cities were actually raising taxes and claiming they weren't,
we were calling them out together. He's been a good
fighter in this. I look forward to a property tax session.
They're hard sessions, but we're going to get something significant done.
It is not just a campaign promise. It is a necessity.
(27:55):
This is not just rhetoric anymore. I hear from people
all the time that are struggling to make it in
this economy and They are struggling and they're scared about
losing their homes and being able to pay for it.
When we talk about priorities next session, property tax reform,
reduction and pathway or full elimination of parts of it
are going to be prioritized along with other affordability issues
(28:18):
like reining in property and casualty insurance and health insurance.
I have an entire committee of trying to put free
market principles back into healthcare to try to drive down
those costs. We have to make it easier to live and, uh,
have raised a family in this state.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
Dustin Burrows, the speaker of the Texas house, sir. Um,
I am gratified that you, uh, came onto the program,
had this discussion with us, praise God, the lines of communications, uh,
communications stay open between the show and your office, uh,
And I've just got to say, I say this often
to show, when elected officials do what we want them
(28:55):
to do, when they start showing up, when they show
us something, they've got to be praised for what they're doing.
And I believe that. And sometimes, you know, they're human
beings when they chart a new course and it's in
alignment with what we've been saying. We've got to support them.
And that's what I will do as you are on
this course that I observe you answer.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
Thank you for being here.
Speaker 8 (29:16):
Chris, thank you for the opportunity.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
When elected Republicans behave as conservatives, when they basically put
up a unified front to oppose socialists and Marxists, as stated,
they've got to get some sort of feedback from the
voters that they're doing the right thing.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Else they're going to say to themselves, they're only human.
What's the point?
Speaker 6 (29:38):
At the same time, folks, when they don't do what
they're supposed to do, I think it is incumbent upon we,
the people, to let them know that as well. So
as time moves forward, we'll see where things go at
home in the state of Texas for me, your liberty-loving Latino,
and the state legislature.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Till we visit again, folks, remember a couple of things.
Speaker 6 (29:59):
First, pick up the new book, The Rise of the
Liberty-Loving Latino, A New American Revolution.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Pick that up at Amazon.com. You can pick up the
audio book or you can pick up the hard copy.
It's available for you there. And then remember this.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
A society's worth is not measured by how much power
is stolen by an out-of-control government. A society's worth is
measured by how much power is reserved for you and me.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
We, the people.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
Keep fighting to save your country out there, my friends,
because America is worth it.
