mixing a little JB and you got yourself.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
The preface of Champions.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Live gusts fan reactions and updates for.

Your favorite teams.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Wake Up Woodward is live now on Detroit's number one
sports network, Woodward Sworts.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
What up though, people? Is Wake Up Bulward?

Speaker 5 (00:38):
Thank you guys for kicking off the day with the
Woo Cruiser Boy Brandon did aka Detroit cool Ad, your
Credential Pistol Report and writing for the network. Flannel Sam,
the Vetterda Squad, the Vetita Network, all sports lover in
still wearing that Risey green jersey. And you know what,
Flannel Sam? Did you see what the big story of
the day was on the news. Oh, they're gonna talk
about wars going on all over the place, gonna talk

(01:00):
about natural disasters going on. They're even gonna do the
Trump shooting poll. But the story of the hour, the
snack wrap is back.

Speaker 6 (01:07):
Bro Okay, Yeah, snack Rap Snack snack Wrap.

Speaker 7 (01:11):
The for the reason, Hey JB coming back to work.
At least he gets to get a snack wrap on
his break.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
So shout out, A snack wrap is back and Zach
attack man shout up to Stack mckintree, have you a
snack wrap today?

Speaker 5 (01:24):
Zach mcenttry on us man what just enjoy it won't
be on us, but still shout out to Zach McKinstry
making as an injury fill in All Star, which we
thought he deserves to be there. They're gonna find a
way to get this guy there. The resume it was flawless,
and I know what, You're gonna do a good job
at presenting that today. But you know what telling people
what else is on the.

Speaker 7 (01:42):
Me Well, I have a few topics, but I have
a feeling that we might do the first two and
it could go along because it could get a little
spicy in here, and hopefully KG if you can, we're
gonna try to open up the phone lines a little
bit later on in the show if we've got time.
But basically, the gist of today's show is we've gotta
do some of Zach McKinstry glazing because he's earned it,

(02:05):
he deserves it. He is in my opinion, a worthy
All Star. But once again for about the umpty time.
Ay right right, hey, guys, even though he's on the
morning show on the flagship right now somewhere, if you
hear really close, Jim Costa, just climax, fire up ships.

Speaker 8 (02:25):
Oh Sam hate no school crazy.

Speaker 7 (02:31):
I actually like him a lot and think he's great
at what he does. But that man is the worst
defender of Central Michigan alums, being the most annoying small
school alums in the world.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
Then we must have a number two. Then what time
Ryan I got? I guess I gotta go to you man.
Let's it talk, yo.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Talk, get your shit off.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
We keep doing this right, one day we talk about
John Collins. Unfortunately he didn't go our way. He gets traded.
Talk about Zach McKinstry. This time it does gar Away
and he is an All Star.

Speaker 9 (02:58):
I mean, I don't know why people are just hating
on us. Man, Like we produced. We have a contributor
on the best team in baseball.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
He's in Detroit and now he's an All Star. Granny
was because of an injury.

Speaker 9 (03:10):
But that's the second time in school history we have
an All Star. And I mean we don't get a
ton of We don't get a ton of great athlete
love anyway recently. I mean, I guess Raymond and Godki
offensive lineman for the Colts in the in the bucks,
but I mean outside of that, we gotta we gotta
take our wins when we can. I mean Antonio Brown
is god knows where.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I mean Dan back in the day in hoops.

Speaker 9 (03:36):
But outside of that, we gotta take our wins when
we can.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
So fire up, go Zach MC. Congrats on your All Star.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
I imagine its Ryan at the All Star Weekend covering
it the same way justph was covering the National champions
and everything.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
All schools be happy. Let the smallest.

Speaker 7 (03:56):
I went to Western University, Okay, so you were you
were them correct in the same way that CMU were repped.
It Absolutely not no loyalty, Howard. I went to college
originally to be a teacher and that did not work out.
So so w I U has very little say in
the shaping of my professional life. It was a good time.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
That's different.

Speaker 8 (04:18):
Shout out specs Howard, now sex Howard, like they my
mother fucking own like you know them is my alumni.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Shout out.

Speaker 8 (04:25):
I hate that day and Lawrence Tech. Now just the class.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
But I remember the building. I was in the actual building.
So remember a lot of specs Howard people in here
in this grace that you know what, you got a
lot going on over there for you. JB. Smooths that attack.
The snacks Rap is back? What up though? Bro? The
snack Rap is back? Man.

Speaker 6 (04:45):
You know you don't know how long I've been waiting
for this snack Rap. There's been rumors, there's been hints,
but you know what, it's just like, when is.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
It actually going to happen? And when we finally got it?

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Crazy, we finally got it. I'm not the only one either.
Shout out to nobody. Super chat he said, snap rap, comeback,
let's go maybe come back.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Question which what was your favorite?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Man?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Or was it just like give me all of them.

Speaker 6 (05:11):
Give me all of them like you just running there
and just get one a day to a day. Hey,
you know, I'm good. I'm set for the whole day.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
But man, just talk about Zach Mcki history you look
excited about I'm saying, man, that overshadows it.

Speaker 8 (05:26):
Stop No, man, I feel it good, man. I am
happy for the snack Rap fans out there. They are delicious.
I might stop throughing and get one or two live. Yeah,
I'm just saying they are cheap. They are cheap. But yeah, no,
but absolutely happy for Zach McKinstry. It is well deserved.
We all know he is a reserve. He's replacing who

(05:46):
Jeremy yep, So shout out to him getting that nod.
His numbers back him up. What he's done for the
Tigers absolutely backs him up. And maybe this is a
step into Zach McKinstry that we will see regularly.

Speaker 7 (05:59):
Hey no, but Zach. And here's the thing. I wanted
to tie it in with all of this, And this
isn't a shot at this guy, because I have a
lot of respect for him. I still think he's the
best in the state right now. Mike Vilenni did a
segment on the Flagship the other day in which he
called Detroit role player city, which I actually agree with.
The problem was he used Zach McKinstry, I think as

(06:24):
an unfair representation of this. So why are people clamoring
for Zach McKinstry. He's just a role player. Actually, this year,
Zach McKinstry is not a role player. Yeah, Zach McKinstry
has actually been a star this year. If there's any players.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Put that Detroit Cape boy, if.

Speaker 7 (06:40):
There's any players on the team that you can actually
call more utility role player guys, believe it or not,
it's actually Hobby Bias and Colt Keith. But we're not
going to talk about them right now because Zach McKinstry,
if you've got that graphic there, JB, he has had
himself a heck of a year. Zach McKinstry actually leads
the Tigers in back average at two eighty six and

(07:01):
positional player war at two point seven. His war is
actually higher than Riley Green's because Zach McKinstry has actually
been a positive defender this year according to defensive wins
above replacement, and Riley Green has been a negative defender
according to defensive wins above replacement. So for all of
you who say that I never say anything bad about
Riley Green, there you go. There's your bone. Zach McKinstry.

(07:24):
And I think this is very, very important. He's fourth
on the Tigers and at bats only, following Riley Green,
Spencer Toglsen, and Glaber Torres. The reason why this is
so important to me is because he's not a guy
who's platooned. He may play different positions, but whether again
it's against lefties or righty's. Because of injury, Zach McKinstry
has been in the lineup damn near every day and

(07:46):
he has yet to fall off. He has continued to
do this throughout the entire season. And speaking of which,
because he has a nine to forty nine OPS this
season versus left handed pitchers as a left handed batter
on seventy four eight, he can be in the lineup
every day. When a tough lefty pitcher comes in, you
can still keep Zach McKinstry in there and he will produce.

(08:07):
Most notably though, of all, he is second in the
American League of triples with eight. He is seventeenth in
the American League and on base percentage at three point
fifty eight. That might not seem like a huge deal,
but considering the All Star team carries about twenty ish
positional players, being top twenty is a big deal. And
he is tied for seventeenth in the American League in

(08:28):
OPS at eight twenty six. And oh, by the way,
his OPS is higher than Vladimiricarero Junior It's just a
little fun fact as well. Go Zach McKinstry, take your flowers,
enjoy your Rolster experience. You deserved it.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Fire up chips, fight and you know what, man we
called to see.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
You know who's gonna go on some heaters just before
all saw breaking help themselves. Do you know what Zach
McKinstry has done in the last twenty games, Just to
peggyback on this is it? It's batting average bro three
thirty three, twenty one hits, four homers, Nairabi's thirteen in
twenty games. Nice, that's insane bro in the last twenty
It's awesome to see him turn it up even that

(09:06):
much more.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
As you know, summer is starting to turn up. And
I do expect them to keep this consistency. Yup.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
I believe when you mix into things that Broder gives
us as it relates to the development, and we can
see that these players now look that much more comfortable
at the plate. That to me is what gives me
the confidence, including the other person we're gonna talk about.
People go through ups, people go through downs. So if
Zach McKinstry in the second half of the season goes
through a little bit of a slide or a little
bit of a slump, that's not gonna shake me, because

(09:32):
we've seen that this development staff has been able to
help these players navigate and come out of these slumps
and be effective for this Tigers team. That's one I
think that that's been their calling card this year. We
know what the stars are going to do, but I
believe that the other guys who are getting these All
Star nods it's because of Yes, you see guys like
Zach McKinstry going out there and absolutely raking, but it's
what they've been to accommodate Riley Green being able to

(09:55):
be one of those guys who can say, you know what,
that's the Zach McKinstry game.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
And that's where in the future I'm hope.

Speaker 5 (10:00):
I mean, the guys that colke Keith continue to find
that level of consistency, but Zach McKinstry, I don't have
any concerns about.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Him keeping up this level of consistency.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
Maybe this level of play can tell off, might tell
off a little bit, but this guy looks like a
bonfly star.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
I mean, to piggyback off of what you're saying, kool Aid,
I'll admit it. Riley Green's been bad in July, doesn't matter.
Col Keith's been amazing.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (10:22):
Zach McKinstry has continued his hot streak parlaying that Indo
and All Star appearance. Spencer torkl Sen's getting a hit
damn near every day and he's had a couple of
Torque bombs. It's a deep lineup, man. We didn't I
don't know if a lot of us thought that it
would be at the beginning of the year. We certainly
didn't expect what we've gotten from Zach McKinstry and Spencer Torkelsen.

(10:42):
But these are some of the guys that have made
it go. And Zach McKinstry, to me, he was, in
my opinion, probably the biggest snub at the time and
at the time it was actually released. And the fact
that he's in, I mean, you hate to see Jeremy
Payne not playing in the game, but at the end
of the day, Zach McKinstry take that opportunity and run

(11:03):
with it. It happens every single year. That's why you
see so many players make the All Star team. Because
people are gonna bow out, pitchers are not gonna be
available players are gonna get a little bit dinged up.
And Zach McKinstry, this isn't a pity thing. This isn't
a charity thing. He earned every single accolade and every
single minute that he's finally gonna get to enjoy All

(11:24):
Star weekend at the All Star Game.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
And he was the one that everybody said, he actually
deserves to be there. It's not as if it's just
the injury replacement. He was the next best. This is
a guy who we all stated he deserves to be there.
We heard people on the national stage say Zach McKinstry
deserves to be there, and even us, we said, you
know what I think where we at the golf autumn, Yeah,
I think that's what we were. We're all like and

(11:45):
we said, like, so, I'm telling us, we feel like
they're gonna find a way to get him into this game.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
His play this year, it deserves to be and recognized
that way.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
And I do believe that ultimately the Detroit Tigers, the
success that they're having as a team this year is
what authorizes them going and.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Say five All Stars for the Tigers, now, is.

Speaker 5 (12:02):
That tied for the most? I got made up because
before I know they were tired for second, but.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Let's look at it. Looked it up because five we
were predicting six All Star locks.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
Who knows what happened between now and uh in in
the All Star Game and injuries.

Speaker 8 (12:17):
You really think we'll get more? I mean that's the
biggest question now, Like I.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Mean, you see people pounder this type of stuff online,
but no, realistically, no.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
I ain't. But there's interesting.

Speaker 8 (12:27):
There's one other player on this roster that you could
really point to and say he should maybe deserve an
All Star spot, and I think Flannel Sam laid it
out eloquently yesterday. It's Spencer Torkleson. And if Torque, if
there is a chance, I'm not saying he will get in,
but if if another injury happens or some of that nature,
is it possible that that torqu can possibly be another

(12:49):
All Star selection for the Tiger Yo Finde.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
What do you think about that? Brother? Because I remember
it and they got close for them to actually.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
Have five All Stars crazy, in my opinion, deserving All Stars?
Uh do you think that there's an outside what do
you think of the outside chances of potentia another one?

Speaker 7 (13:03):
I mean, all right, so If there's anybody that I
think could actually get in, it might even be Casey
Mice because pictures, well pictures actually, you have that thing
with pictures where if they pitch on Sunday, they're not
even available probably for for a Tuesday. And just for
the record, because I am the uh, I am the

(13:26):
Deacon of fair. Believe it or not, I am the
most fair in this room.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
I don't know about that, but we got to run
the credits on that one.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
I have to be. I have to to give credit
where our credit is due. Jazz Chiselm at a two
homer game yesterday, is ops jumped over thirty points? No,
I mean for real though, Like like that's the thing
about baseball. It's fluid every day. And you know what,
Jazz Chiselm somebody who I've never liked. I think he
gets way too much adoration for what he is. He's

(13:55):
having himself a heck of a year. Torque hat a
nice day yesterday too, we had a single and in
a run. But Jazz chiseld Man, when you're especially when
you haven't played as many games like chisel Ma, as
I've mentioned before, he's missed thirty one this year. If
you have a two home run game, your ops is
gonna go through the moon. Now, if he goes zero
for four tonight, it's gonna go down fifteen points. So

(14:17):
we'll see. To me, it's a fluid every day, just
kind of a fluid situation. But h but I think
Casey Maiz is the most likely to get in.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
I mean, it's just like another reserve.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
In the way that you actually lay that out, it
to me makes it a little bit more possible that
we do see the Tigers get somebody. I'm not if
I had a percentage, I will say if I was
twenty percent that they can get something, maybe I'm at
like thirty percent right now. Because you're right, these types
of things happen even if it's not that they've pitched
on that day. You'll see sometimes a team just go
and say it's his rest day.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
He's just anging.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
He's just not he's not pitching right now or nursing
an injury. That's gonna be interesting thing to watch to
see if they find a way to get one case
he minds in. Because there's a lot of people have
contributed to the squad and you know, like we said
that even though they dropped the game, they still won
the series, and it's a testament to who they've been
all season long, a team that's just above all of
the noise and above all the speed bumps. I see,

(15:11):
we got that dude justin over there. Man, anything you
want to say about Zach attack before we set it
up done to some friends.

Speaker 10 (15:17):
I mean, his story is a very very great one.
I mean, he was a guy who had a sub
six ops for a majority of last year and is
now become an All Star with an over an eight
hundred ops. So the turnaround for that guy, someone who
has never put up these type of numbers in his career,
is uber impressive. And you just gotta give him his

(15:40):
flowers and be happy for him, because I can't lie.
I don't think anyone in this room expected this, but
we gotta be happy for him, and we've loved watching
him this year.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
So shout out to Zach mckinsree.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Hey, shout out to Zach mckinstree, And I see Jonathan
Lord and the chat says, bring up the feud with
Jazz and Flannel.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
No.

Speaker 7 (15:58):
I mean my thing with Jazz is the fact that
he was ever on the cover of MLB dot Com,
the shows MB the shows a disgrace. I care, Oh,
Jazz Chisseolm makes the game fun for the youths. He
was mid.

Speaker 11 (16:12):
Him.

Speaker 7 (16:15):
Well, Hobby, wasn't he on the cover when he was
in the cubs?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
He was actually great? And the.

Speaker 7 (16:22):
Yes, I did. But I can also be the big
man and say that Jazz his home has been great
this year. I don't blindly hate people think I blindly
hate Jazz Chisholm has earned Like I'm not mad that
he's on the All Star team. I didn't complain about it.
I I I may have dissed him a little bit
in favor of my guy Torque, but nobody at this

(16:44):
station has ever put a guy down to prop up
their guy. Byron busted.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Yes, be sitting on the couch all Star. Oh he's there,
he's there.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
He's a reserved for somebody who should be cut from
the Twins. He's a reserve for the All Star game.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
What's he saying? Who's that over there?

Speaker 7 (17:09):
Hobby's the starter? Hey, by the way, the starter Hobby
by Hobby bias. Get yet another day off? Yesterday another one? Hey?

Speaker 2 (17:19):
He's All Star, right man?

Speaker 7 (17:21):
Every day, He's vital to the He's missed seventeen games
and hasn't been on the injured list.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
A J.

Speaker 7 (17:26):
Hinch has babied him and that's okay, but it's a fact.
Nobody wants to talk about it. Done the same with
Colt Keith. It's facts.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
But we're seeing honestly, really good seasons out of these guys.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
Reminds, Yeah, you reduce their usage for these players and
you're seeing them be able to blossom within it.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
I definitely like what's going on, man, and I'm not
mad at it.

Speaker 7 (17:49):
I'm not mad at it at all.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
I just don't.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
I don't think Hobby should have been All Star starter.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
I'll never ye. Gotta like it, you gotta respect it, though.
What's man tooth Man? Anchorman? Buddies, Pizzas and seven since time,
I had no there was no way to transition. It's just, hey,

Speaker 5 (20:19):
Alright, so let's be honest. We like simple stuff like
gimme's on the golf course. We're like uncomplicated, like Lady
James haircuts from in, walk in signing before you know what,
you're hands to me clean, Lady James open ten to eight,
seven days a week, walk in anytime.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
It's wicked awesome and we are back as wake up
we were.

Speaker 14 (20:37):
You know what, This is getting spicy already, just to
celebrate Zach mckinstone and Hove Bay and the rest of
the Tigers all stars, and you know what, let's hope
they get one more in them.

Speaker 5 (20:48):
I'm gonna definitely goe for it and I'm gonna cap
for them. But you do have one person on your
side in this chat. Chuckle cheese, he says Hobby Bias
shouldn't be there either.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Well.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
He also says that mckinstreet shouldn't have made him on
the hobby in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
But what of Detroit fans?

Speaker 5 (21:05):
He said, if you guys are that in flannel gets
now you got Detroit fans saying Detroit players shouldn't get awesome.

Speaker 7 (21:13):
It's funny, though, because I've been consistently caping for Zach
McKinstry and he got it, So shout out to him,
and he deserved it. He's had a better season than
Hobby Bias, and I think all the numbers and the
metrics will bear that out. And I'm not saying that
Hobby hasn't been good. It's just that right not Rightley
Green speaking of him. More on him in a second. Yeah,
I always have him on the brain. Zach McKinstry has

(21:35):
been an everyday player who's gone out there and produced
pretty much every day there's been a position, whether it's
third base, outfield, whether it's second base, he has been
out there. He has filled needs well. Players like Veerling
and Perez and and Parker Meadows were on the IL
for extended periods of time, and what aj Hinch has

(21:56):
found is that you can't take that man out of
the lineup. No matter who, Zach mckinsry will be there
and he will thrive because he keeps doing it. He
has not fought. That's considering what he's been for most
of his career. With all due respect to him, it's
incredible how he hasn't fallen off or really had even
a notable slump that I could think of. I can't

(22:18):
think of any If you have an eight twenty six
ops this far to the season, you haven't really slumped much.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
Has he been the one that we really haven't talked
about even going into a slump. We've seen a lot
of the major contributors this season go through their times,
but he's been one that I don't really remember souls
when we come in here and say, oh man, we
still have the faith, but time to pick it up.
Like we did that with Torque and then he wound
up picking it back up. We've done that with Green,
you wound up, you know, picking it back up. Zach
McKinsey seems to be one who's just been the entire

(22:46):
season just doing this thing, and then just before All
Star break decides, hey, I'm want to.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Turn up even more. It's been awesome to see. That's
the thing.

Speaker 7 (22:53):
If it weren't for those twenty games you talked about earlier,
he probably wouldn't be on the team. He's somebody like
that who probably needed to get hot.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
He did talk about what a hot Street could do
for some of these players that were on the fringe,
and I do believe it helps Zach mckinstreet.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
And you know what, it helps the Tigers too, because
you talk about what Riley Green is going through.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
It does take Zach mckinstreet going on the heater. I
do believe it takes Cole Keith going on some heaters
to be able to make sure that this Tiger's team
can still have everything right in front of them that
they deserve. They win another series against the Rays. They've
won I don't know how many series now in a row,
and they're doing this while Riley Green is not necessarily
playing that all star Riley Green level. Man, what do

(23:33):
you think about some of the commentary that's been going
around out there.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I mean, I have an idea, but I was like,
let me just be fair and asked.

Speaker 7 (23:40):
We have to do this again, and actually, before we
do anything, Jaybe would you might hurt Ryan. Actually, can
you read the super chats if you can find them?

Speaker 4 (23:50):
Yeah, I can do the super chats.

Speaker 7 (23:51):
I didn't.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
I didn't. Yeah, uh to.

Speaker 7 (23:56):
Be We just did the snack wraps one right.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
You can read it again though.

Speaker 15 (24:01):
For the people snack crack comeback. Coincidence your name, let's
go JV right here.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
JB is covering no sports today. It's all snack rap.
You're McDonald's analyst.

Speaker 15 (24:15):
This is from Rando Small's. You didn't see it, say,
but a bunch of us did see it.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
I don't know what that.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Congratulations. You had the foresight on Torque and Zach McKinstry.
You saw him having an eight twenty six oh ps season.
You know what else you would have done. You'd be
doing the same thing if Ryan Kreiler was having a
good season. Remember earlier when you were a victory lapping
justin Henry mud hen Now instead of justin Henry Maloy,
chill stop it stop it stop it stop it stop
it stop it stop it stop it.

Speaker 8 (24:43):
Hey, random, what's the win in lottery numbers? Though I
need them?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
You're so good at predictation.

Speaker 16 (24:47):
No.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
My point is he would have been doing this for anybody.
I don't think I've ever seen him criticize the Detroit
Tiger player except I wonder who.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
I mean? How you know his super chat wasn't talking
about the snack rat.

Speaker 7 (24:59):
I wonder who Rando smalls. Riley Green doesn't change his
approach with two strikes on him either. It's what's keeping
him for being a superstar.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
O this whoa Okay, so that kind of is a
pretty good segue there.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
Never seen him say one bad thing about a Tiger
athlete before and now the Riley Green, the sin of
striking out in a game where you were down by four,
you were ahead in the series two to oh, you
were on a five game winning streak and you lost
a game. The humanity, Oh my god, the humidity. Let's
take his spot from the All Star Game. Let's take

(25:34):
it from him, Let's steal it. Let's retrospect. You know what,
when he gets up at that now starting for the
American League All Star Game, Riley Green, a lot of
you guys are gonna be saying, boo, you know what, Yeah,
today I'm operating the Spikes store today. Shout out Mike Lenny.
He came up with that. I kind of dissed him earlier.

(25:54):
Now I gotta give him credit. The Spike Store is open.
The Spike Store is open, and you guys want to
walk in, you're gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
The Fight Store is beyond open.

Speaker 8 (26:04):
Sam has officially lit the cigarette.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
Like Detroit sports fans, they're in a weird place, man,
especially with all of our squads just starting to get going.
Because you hear this stuff with these guys that are
not just approaching stardom, but now approaching superstardom, like Kay Cunningham.
I feel like this is the the the the the
same thing with him, as the relations says turnovers. There's
gonna be always things that people pick at and pick
at and pickat with these guys who are supposed to

(26:30):
be great.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
They did it early on, even with Aidan Hutchinson, you know,
and that's where.

Speaker 7 (26:35):
Oh I remember remember that month off he had hate
ass motherfuckers, trash trash fans.

Speaker 8 (26:46):
We just we just wanted to see a little I
wonder though.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Like, how how like as fans, especially as Pistons fans
and Tigers fans, It's been a long time since we've
been able to say we have stars, we have a star,
we have start superstars, Guys that transcend the game, Guys
that when they're playing against certain matchups, you got to
put them on TV. And now, all of a sudden,
I think we're getting to that point. Obviously, Terry Skoogh

(27:10):
right now is in a class of his own. But
we see guys like Green, we see guys like k
You bet all cameras is gonna be Ada Hudgson and
his returning to see if this guy can put up
the monster numbers that he did to start last season.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
I just think that this is now us still allowed.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
We have to learn how to be fans of teams
with championship and playoff expectations. I think the same thing
we learn how to be fans of superstar like level talent,
because that's what's budding right now. Parculating all across Detroit Sports.
Riley Green, especially if he adds anything else to his game,
I believe he's gonna be at somebody else right at

(27:47):
the line of that. And when you that threshold a superstar,
you're looking at a guy like Ky come Amy cleans
up just a little bit, and I think that might
be where when you do get some of your your
ardent fans some of the fans that are the most
passionate about I'm seeing him clean up just the little bit,
even though he does so much more. I wonder if
it's about this guy becoming that much more in actuating

(28:08):
punctuating being a superstar.

Speaker 7 (28:09):
Well, and for the record, and I've been very clear
about this, I don't think Riley Green's a superstar yet.
But I also think he gets unfairly nit picked and
doesn't get enough credit for what he actually brings to
the game. And I'm ill, I'm fully aware of this.
Riley Green is having a rough month of July. He's
in the month of July. I believe he's a four

(28:30):
for thirty four, which is objectively awful. It's a slump
that unfortunately is rivaling the slump at the beginning of
the year when it almost actually killed me. But luckily,
to this point his numbers have accumulated enough to where
I don't think it will actually like, I think he'll
snap out of it soon. I'm not worried about it.
But Ryan, if you just want to put up that

(28:52):
first graphic of a Riley Green twenty twenty five, because the.

Speaker 5 (28:55):
Comment randall got one more super staff for you, oh
what he's saying, Yeah, just so he can further get
his Tigers love five dollar super chat.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
I have English the old English D tattooed on my BICEX.
He dud. That's I never said the.

Speaker 7 (29:08):
End of the Tigers. I just think that you're like
a lot of Tiger fans who just have never fully
embraced Ridley Green and never will.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Or he just wants to throw you. That's fine, you
paid your money.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
That's fine, that's fine.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
But uh, you know, Orando, I actually got it over
my heart and it's his home.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Is what a heart is? Man? Not old English D.
That little.

Speaker 7 (29:28):
Despite Riley Green's very poor stretch and his very very
bad game yesterday, which I'll admit, bad, bad, bad, bad
bad Riley Green in a twenty twenty five if you
got that one, mister Ryan, he is still despite this
horrific stretch, which has never been seen in the history
of baseball, is tied for thirty in the American League.

(29:48):
On home runs with twenty two, is third in the
ALE and RBIs with seventy two, is fourth in the
American League and slugging at five twenty four and ninth
in the ALE and OPS at eight fifty six. Admittedly,
his ops has dipped quite a bit. He was in
top three, four or five a couple of days ago,
but he is still top ten. If any of you
would have foreseen this at the beginning of the year,

(30:08):
and foreseen this along with what the Tigers are doing
visa v. The standings, visa v. Having the best record
in baseball, we would have all universally been like bravo
to Riley Green. But because yeah, right, But because fans
are emotional, fans sometimes cling to the one thing that
they see on TV. Instead of realizing that baseball is

(30:31):
a one hundred and sixty two game season and slumps happen,
even bad ones. They don't realize that this is what
Riley Green has given this Tigers team this year. He
is an all star starter. He is one hot streak
away from being a borderline MVP candidate.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
And I believe it will happen this weekend. I do.

Speaker 7 (30:49):
I'll put my money on it. Riley Green is getting
at least five hits in this series, and if he
doesn't get it, I'll do Monday Show without my shirt on.

Speaker 8 (30:59):
I'll saw where this ship was going. Well, every chest
at all, every time you wager on something Riley Green is.
It does not go your way.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Just you know what he wants to do this chest
hair and all, it's gonna be like r G. Clearly
he just wanted to do no.

Speaker 7 (31:23):
I actually I'm gonna have to.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Days it's arise And this was also r G. I'm good,
Please don't do that. Don't know, but let me get
the chat involved to dn C n c rdy isn't
a superstar yet, but how he has been a superstar
for seven years. He says, we had.

Speaker 5 (31:43):
And uh, we got a couple people to chat talking
about their old English d what up? Though Detroit guy
says he has the old English de tattooed in his
soul and Justin Ky says he has Old English eight
hundred in the fridge.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Shout out to you, bro. But Riley Green, man, I'm
wondering what.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Is it gonna take for people to just accept who
Riley Green is and the game that he brings to
the table. Because Matthew Kruger is probably somebody who agrees
a little bit more with you. But he also does
this with a backhanded disrespect to Kate Connye and.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Says Riley Green is more of a superstar. Then Kay
Cunning is.

Speaker 7 (32:21):
I am a Riley Green like Psycho Stan. That is
a false statement. But I'm also a Kate Cunning him
stand as well. But it's objectively not true. Krueger, you're KRUGI.
You're not a Pistons fan. You've admitted it. You're not
a Pistons fan, and you just have hate in your
heart for Kate and that's fine.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (32:37):
Weirdly enough, though, I think he likes Jade and Ivy.
You see what I'm talking about with those people absolutely
who should be in an island, like literally on an
island where they're banished and maybe get some Jim Jones potion.
But but uh, that's neither here nor there.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
AnyWho shout and say what ada all two of your
chest hairs? I got?

Speaker 7 (33:01):
I got many, trust me.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Uh we don't want to know. My wife don't want this.

Speaker 7 (33:05):
Year, But Ryan, I got more on a mister Riley Green,
how about notable ops is in twenty twenty five? If
you got that one?

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Uh, yeah, there we go.

Speaker 7 (33:17):
Riley Green eight fifty six, Freddie Freeman eight forty nine,
Bobby Witt Junior, the prodigal son, the greatest player that's
ever existed eight forty eight, Pete Crowhmstrong eight forty Oh
look at that, Look at that, everybody's fever dream for
the Tigers.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Oh my god, Elie de la Cruise.

Speaker 7 (33:39):
Eight thirty seven, ha Many Machado eight twenty two, Vlad
Junior eight twenty, Rice Harper eight nineteen. And again, I'm
not disrespecting these guys. I think I can objectively say
that Bobby WIT's a better player than Riley Green. Freddie
Freeman's obviously a Hall of famer still playing at a
high level. Pete Cromshaw and Elie de la Cruz are

(34:01):
really good young players. Manny Machado's a Hall of famer,
Bryce Harper's a Hall of famer. Vladd Junior's a perennial
All Star. But that even makes what Riley Green is
doing despite his slump more impressive. He has had by
OPS standards and by I'll just say it, because I
know at home run and RBI's standards, a better season
than these guys, even better than Bobby Witt Junior. And

(34:22):
again Bobby Witt Junior, his wins above replacement is high.
He's a much better defender than our Riley Green is.
But what does this tell you, man, Riley Green's a star.
Riley Green's an all star starter and he is a
like I said, he is a hot streak away from
being an MVP candidate, and he will get it. History
has shown that he will get it.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
I'm looking at the ty here, doll. They're really trying
to invest with you. Just the case is Hobby.

Speaker 7 (34:49):
Hobby's ops is not its seven sixty duh oh snap, No, I.

Speaker 8 (34:56):
Know this man, he knows the stats.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Out and I don't know, man, how do you feel
about all this stuff? Rodley Green superstar in the way
I do.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
I believe people like him, Kay Cunningham, I feel like
back in the day, these were guys that we rooted
on for their success, we rooted on for their journey.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
And now you do you hear a little bit more discourse.

Speaker 5 (35:17):
That's why I even had to bring up and go
back to the Aiden Hutchinson and stuff, because before he
got off to the start he did this year, all
I heard everybody saying is well.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
He better get the sacks. I'm like, what did he better?

Speaker 5 (35:28):
It's Ada Hudgson, he better been doing he'd been doing this,
Like what are y'all talking about? And I do believe
that as that defense around him continues to get built up,
you're gona see a little bit more out of them.
But last year he didn't even wait for that, you know.
And that's my thing. It's like, what happened to the
days of just supporting these players and believing in these players.
These are guys that we're not cheering for a bunch

(35:48):
of Like I love drumming, but for all of the
behind the scenes stuff that we knew about the motor
the practice, are you doing the right work? These are
the guys that actually do work. When you talk about
Kid's and your Greens and your Aden Hutchinson's, these are
the guys that I'm like, buy the stock right now.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
While there are some people who might have a little
bit of like, you know.

Speaker 5 (36:10):
Difference of opinions about who these guys are, I say,
by the stock right now. If I am a firm
belief that we're going to see superstar Ada Hutchinson, Superstar
k Cunningham, and superstar Rdy Green.

Speaker 8 (36:23):
I would love to see it, man, And I totally
agree with you. I actually think Sam don't have to
defend Riley Green as.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Much as he does.

Speaker 8 (36:30):
I got to say, last name is the man. He
probably my cousin. I'm just saying, you defit him, like
get you love somebody in your life, like Sam loves
Riley Green.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 7 (36:39):
But I do have to defend him that I don't
think you do.

Speaker 8 (36:42):
But and with the Hutch argument early on in his career,
it was a little more.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Nuanced than that.

Speaker 8 (36:47):
But I get what people are getting at. We all
knew that he was good. We all knew he had
the talent. We just wanted to see him improve in
some ways. And Sam knows last year I would rip
him a little bit because I know Riley Green is
this guy, like, hey, you know, Ley Green, if he
can step up in this area, you know he'd be
he'd probably be good. But you know, overall, the numbers
led out he's been unequivocally the best player on this

(37:09):
Tigers team for at least the last two years in
terms of hitting and just being that constant presence in
the lineup for this Tigers team.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
All the numbers back him up.

Speaker 8 (37:19):
He's getting better and better as he goes along, and
now he has more talent around him to be able
to showcase himself more I'm not really worried.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Man. I think he'll get there.

Speaker 8 (37:28):
He may not be there right now, but we all
know he's fringe, he's borderline. Like Sam said, a couple
of hot streaks away, he's probably an MVP conversation so
and we've seen a lot of that with Ky cunning
him as well. Is he a perfect player, No, not
at this stage, but there is a lot that you
can take away from CAD's game that shows you this
guy is on a plane to be a superstar. And

(37:50):
I think we just got to be patient. Let these
guys develop. They're gonna be fine. But Riley Green, I
have no qualms. You know, when he went through the
slump early, I'm like, wake me up.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
When you said it, you said wake me up, And
by June we knew exactly. Oh Righty Green? Is that deal? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (38:07):
It's people go on streaks in cold streaks all the time.
I don't really get worried now if it's a month's
long problem. If it's a two month long problem, then
I start to ask the question. But as far as
Riley Green, especially coming off an All Star bid the
previous year, I was never worried.

Speaker 7 (38:23):
Well, and you know what, we should go to break
because I've got more on this in a minute. I've
got a couple of interesting things. I've got some uh
Woodward on Riley Green crime with one of my best
friends and fame him and a historical comparison for a
Riley Green that I think Kool aidd kg will find

(38:44):
very very interesting. I wish I would have wrote that
down to the prep but I think you guys wander.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
You know, keep this in the back of your mind
too well.

Speaker 5 (38:50):
Definitely, if we can get a chance to just kind
of banter this Lebron because it came up from this.

Speaker 2 (38:53):
Conversation Detroy Gunn.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
He says this top Detroy superstars from Team K from
the Pistons, Hutching the Lions, Scoop from the Tigers, and
Larkin from the Wings. That's his mount Rushmore and also Arouric.
He acts, which one of these young superstars do we believe?
Which one do we think will be the biggest superstar?
He believes it's gonna be Kay. I'm curious to see
about you guys answers, because Hunch I think still has

(39:18):
a I think he has a he has a seat
at that table.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
Man.

Speaker 8 (39:21):
I really do, absolutely but Terrek Schoogle is literally lyrics
school one one right now. He is the best picture
on the planet, Like it's unarguable.

Speaker 5 (39:30):
Yeah, so it's gotta be schools. Yeah, I think you
remove him. You get them those younger guys that aren't
established yet. It's a good problem, a good place. It's
hard for me to make a decision. And I love
k but Hutch was off to a crazy start. Man,
keep that in the back of your minds Uh, who
got to say what I've done to?

Speaker 15 (39:50):
What up to White Claw Tiger Tour first and then
we'll send it over to Felvin and then we'll go

haven't got the opportunity to going ahead and smash that
like button and you know what we're talking rodthy Green.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
And it also brought up some conversations as well of superstars.

Speaker 5 (43:51):
I think we got some guys that are definitely going
to punch the ticket on their superstar potential in Aiden
Hutchinson in Rodley Green Nkid cunning because right now I
believe the only one we can say is at that
level in the city, is it Terry Schoogle?

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Do you have anybody else?

Speaker 8 (44:07):
School Boy is the only one that's actually leading in
all categories. Like hutch is a top five defensive end
in this league. He's you can make an argument that
he's number one, but I don't think he's there yet.
Kate the same deal. He's in that crop of young's
up and coming point guard. Yeah, but he's not there
just yet. You can make the argument he's best point
guard in the East. And the same thing for who

(44:28):
would be the last choice of Larkin?

Speaker 2 (44:31):
Uh, Dylan Larkin?

Speaker 7 (44:32):
They have, they have, they have nobody.

Speaker 8 (44:34):
Who's the wings?

Speaker 7 (44:36):
Actually you have And I'm not saying they have nobody
on their team, but in terms of those guys, and
I'm the biggest hutch Slappy there is, I don't think
you can make an argument from as.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
A number one and rusher right now.

Speaker 7 (44:46):
Unfortunately, part of the story last year was a lot
of ifs. One of the great honestly what if seasons
in Detroit sports history. Because I can say with without
a shadow of my doubt that Aiden would have won
Defensive Player of the Year. We'll never know.

Speaker 13 (45:02):
Yeah, we'll never know.

Speaker 5 (45:04):
My man was still in the running. That's the crazy part.
I mean even at the end of the season, they
still went back and said, bro Look, with his sack totals,
was still put amongst the other people in the league.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
It's site Ada Hudson was off to a tear.

Speaker 5 (45:18):
I think he was definitely on his way to punctuate
in that superstar status last year. And you talk about
how effective he is, how effective he looked early on.
You know what, Man, give me Hutch up against any
of these teams in a playoff.

Speaker 7 (45:30):
That's fair. That that's fair. But speaking of people that
I have to take on, Easy, you know I love you. You
know that I share a kinship with you, because I
will I will say that me and you are probably
the two people that get the most hate and pushback
at this network right now. I think that's objectively true

(45:52):
and fine. I'm not trying to play the martyr. I'm
just trying to say that Easy, I feel you, but
you were dead wrong in this Easy put out a
very reactionary tweet last night after watching the Tigers Ray's
game in which Riley Green did fail with the bases
loaded and the Tigers did lose for their first loss
in the past six games. Oh my god, no way,

(46:15):
do you have that one? Oh yeah, mister JB.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Smooth?

Speaker 7 (46:21):
Every time the basses are loaded in a moment where
we need the runs, it feels like Riley Green has
struck out. Notice how he says it feels feels shout
out easy. But I'm not tripping because I've watched Ricky
Vaughan overcome clue Heywood when it matters most. Now he's
comparing Riley Green to a fictional Major League character. Riley

(46:41):
will do the same, and I get that backhanded compliment
at the end. However, do you have the one? JB.
Smooth with Riley Green? Twenty twenty five continued, I believe
it's the last one that I sent. Yep, put that
one up if you would. It's funny because when I
actually look at the facts and not the feelings. With

(47:02):
bases loaded this season, he has a slash line of
four hundred, four hundred, six hundred for in one thousand
ops and ten RBIs with runners on, he has a
slash line of two eighty three, twenty two and five
thirty six with an eight to fifty eight ops eleven
home run sixty one RBIs and with runners in scoring position,
his numbers aren't fantastic by any means, but not nearly

(47:23):
as bad as people think. Two sixty five, two ninety six,
four eighty for a seven seventy seven ops six home
runs forty nine RBIs. And this is my message to Easy,
This is my message to the people in the chat.
Stop isolating one moment that you didn't like. Look at
the numbers, Easy, You're better than this. You brought feelings
to a fact party feeling and we all know when

(47:45):
it comes to numbers. You can't beat me, you can't
stop me. I will always find the truth, bitch. Riley
Green has been excellent with the bases loaded this year.
He's been really good with runners on and he's been
good enough with runners in scoring position, and all that
has equated to him being third in the in the
AL and RBIs for someone that never comes through, he

(48:05):
sure drives in a lot of runs.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
I wonder wow, I don't know, shot, said Riley Green.

Speaker 5 (48:12):
Just ain't got it in him, no oil and can't
carry you with bases loaded, pick a struggle, come on
a shot. Well, the Rosado says, Sam is bringing the
fat and lunchbox.

Speaker 7 (48:23):
Yes, Riley Green is bad with runners in scoring position
in two outs. That's a very niche stat because he's
still Again, if this were a team that was struggling,
I could get how there's merit with that. But they're
not struggling, and Riley Green is still great. Back off
of them, the crazy guys. I swear with Riley Green
it's b prime, miggie or bust. Oh goodness no, But

(48:51):
can I bring one more?

Speaker 2 (48:54):
All right?

Speaker 7 (48:55):
I got one more?

Speaker 2 (48:56):
JB.

Speaker 7 (48:57):
Do you have Riley Green? Twenty twenty five, Part three.
I was in my bag today, boys acknowledge me.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
Riley Green.

Speaker 7 (49:05):
RBIs with runners in scoring position this season forty nine
other notable players total twenty twenty five. RBIs Freddie Freeman
forty seven, Austin Riley forty seven, Vlad Junior forty six,
Jose Ramirez forty five, Mookie Bets forty five, Will Smith
forty five, Julio Rodriguez forty four, Marcelo Zuna forty one,
and Everybody's fever dream and the greatest player that ever

(49:25):
existed Fernando Tattis junior at forty. This tells you that
you could take away all of Riley Green's solo homers,
you could take away all of his two run homers
with runner on first base, and you can take away
all of his RBI doubles or triples. I don't think
he has a triple, but RBI doubles with a runner
on first base, and Riley Green would still have more

(49:49):
RBIs this season than all of these players that you
swear are better than him. All of this nonsense. And
that's the thing, easy, And this is where I'm most
disappointed in you. Do you not realize that Riley Green
isn't clutch? Is literally the most pervasive false narrative on
the Internet about the Tigers.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
Yeah, E, you fed raw meat to the nipshits.

Speaker 7 (50:12):
You did it?

Speaker 2 (50:13):
Come on, E, you did?

Speaker 7 (50:15):
You fed raw meat to the dipshits?

Speaker 2 (50:17):
Huh?

Speaker 7 (50:19):
I love you, but you fed raw meat to the
nipshits and now they're pouncing. Riley Green has more RBIs
just off of at bats with runners and scoring position
than these guys do on the whole season. And you
know what people will look at that people will look
at his bases loaded numbers, and you know what they'll say,
I don't believe you.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
Your numbers are raw.

Speaker 5 (50:39):
I feel like easy's already clipping o you already.

Speaker 7 (50:46):
Guys, Remember guys, when I said what I said, Let
me actually tell you what I said about Riley Green
early in the season when he was hitting like two
seventeen with a six twenty ops, was in a slump
in which he was seven for fifty five and all
seven hits were singles. I said, if Riley Green continues
on this trajectory, the miners aren't out of the question

(51:08):
with guys like Parker Medows, Matt Vierling coming back. I
did not say Riley Green go to the miners. He
was in a bad way right now. Right now, with
what he's done this season, he can withstand a slump
and still be putting up excellent numbers. So I think
it is much much worse to be downplaying him right

(51:28):
now when you've seen that is an All Star for
the second year in a row. You've seen that despite
all of that, he's without a doubt, a top probably
seven positional player in the American League. And like I said,
people will look at these numbers They'll look at the
numbers with bases loaded.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
They'll look at the numbers with runners on.

Speaker 7 (51:44):
And be like, you know what, I was at that
one game where Riley Green had that one strikeout. I
don't believe you mean statman.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Talk your time tilt.

Speaker 7 (52:00):
I'm sorry, guys, I'm the Spike story is over.

Speaker 8 (52:07):
Open.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
But man prepared in everything. This is a brief dog.
I see people in the chat A wants to know.
Are you Riley Green's lawyer? You know what.

Speaker 7 (52:19):
I am somebody who actually appreciates him. Riley Green is
the perfect athlete for me, and an athlete not in
the wrong time for a lot of other people.

Speaker 5 (52:29):
Oh, I just heard to undertake your noise in the chat.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
Man.

Speaker 7 (52:37):
Yeah, he says, you brought feelings to a fact party.
My guy, you brought feelings to a fact party. You
feel that Riley Green doesn't come through? You feel it.
I gave you facts and numbers in a record of
what has occurred in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 5 (52:52):
He just knocked He just knocked the golf balls off
the table too. Man, He's over there going crazy. He says,
this will never wash away your sins.

Speaker 2 (53:02):
Flannel. He's typing in all caps so easy, He's all
right now in all caps. You will regret this.

Speaker 7 (53:09):
I willnot regret this. I got facts on my side.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
Easy.

Speaker 5 (53:13):
Easy is that one that you probably he put mister
Toledo so you already know where he's going according to you.

Speaker 7 (53:20):
You know, for ten with basis on it or four
for ten? Which is it?

Speaker 2 (53:25):
You did say he should go down to triple AD.

Speaker 7 (53:28):
I said what I said earlier.

Speaker 2 (53:30):
I gave you what I said.

Speaker 7 (53:32):
I gave you what I said. I didn't say declaratively
he should go down to triple A. I said if
he continues like this, the miners aren't out of the question.
It's different. It's funny how I'm the only one who
can't get away with that. But that's fine, that's fine.
I've created a legion of Ridley Green haters just so
you can be mad at me.

Speaker 8 (53:51):
Even that statement, he would have to really really struggle
in order for them to consider sending him down to Toledo,
Like that was kind of crazy.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
But you also said a j hin should the same airwaves.
So just saying and.

Speaker 7 (54:02):
A lot of people say she get ninetynine point nine
percent of the credit for the success. That's worse.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
That's a worse statement, probably about eighty five. Though, no, no.

Speaker 5 (54:14):
You don't think that's a little eighty six about that
eighty six, I don't think it's about that.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
Eighty six is a little high, is it? I think? So?

Speaker 7 (54:22):
Oh my god, Justin has a brain?

Speaker 2 (54:25):
Do you think?

Speaker 10 (54:27):
I mean, I just think that, Yeah, aj Hitch deserves
a huge amount of the credit for Tiger success that
he plays this lineup. But at the same time, he
does have the best picture in baseball on his team.

Speaker 7 (54:40):
Whoa who He just gets the pencil in as a
starter every five days. Wow, go out there, schoobl and dominate.
That's what he does. Go on, Justin.

Speaker 10 (54:51):
I mean he also has arguably the best or top
three corner olefield in the entire mb and Riley Green, I.

Speaker 7 (54:58):
Know who he pencils into the every day and just says, righty,
go hit.

Speaker 10 (55:03):
He And but this is the same time, like it
also has to be put onto guys like who have
made extreme comebacks like Tork. I mean, you see in Tork,
he's probably gonna have over thirty bombs like he did
two years ago. Actually, unless he gets hurt, he's going
to have over thirty bombs. McKinstry has gone from a
six hundred ops player to an eight hundred OPS player.

(55:26):
I mean, there are just so many things that you
can turn to of why this team is successful now,
and I think a lot of the credit, probably the
biggest piece of the pie in terms of pie chart,
would go to aj Hinch, But there's just so many
players that have made an impact, have made improvements Hovey
Bayez like, I mean, the list goes on and on,

(55:48):
so we gotta be fair to Flannel where it's percent hit.

Speaker 7 (55:54):
It's funny though, how Hobby gets how gets no blame
for Hobby being asked you used the last three seasons,
No blame for that only when he's good. And I
like aj Hinch, but.

Speaker 10 (56:04):
Man, I think Scott Harris got the blame for that,
or hell, he got that blame for three years.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
We kicked this back. Here is the one I heard,
you know, convince him to get the hip sergery.

Speaker 7 (56:15):
Oh man, right, And I like aj Hinch is gonna
win Manager of the Year and I'm not gonna fight
it because he's great. But man, it's this narrative that
this team is ragtag. It's this narrative that this team
is ragtag. You know what's funny too, We're the only
city in which we're allowed to coach up our players.
Does Dave Roberts get credit for Will Smith and Andy Pajez?

(56:38):
Does Dave Roberts get credit for Ya Mamoto and Gavin
Stone and for winning their the franchise their first World
Series since nineteen eighty eight in twenty twenty and twenty
twenty four. Does Bruce Bochie get credit for being a
three time World Series champion with the Giants and going
to the Rangers and giving them their first championship ever?
Does Dave Martinez get credit back in the day for
Juan Soto? You would never say that. Does Brian Snicker

(57:01):
get credit for Ronald Acunia Junior, who's played under his
entire fing career? Probably not, because those guys were probably
gonna be.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Good no matter what.

Speaker 7 (57:09):
Right, nobody on the Tigers, because hey, wait, the last
time that people but he but Jose L Tube, Carlos Carrea, Bregman,
all Hinch in Houston, all Hinch, all Hinch with his guys,
all the players being great with the other guys.

Speaker 5 (57:26):
I mean he left in now Detroit's you know, spanking Houston.
I see the correlations, and before that it seemed like
Houston definitely had our number. I feel like that's aj
Hinton And for me, I get the notion of the
players that you do have out there, but what the
Tigers are doing are so far beyond really even the
most even the people we saw in our chats that

(57:46):
were bullish, it was not about the pace that we
see the Tigers on right now. It wasn't with the
players that we see contributing right now. That to me
does mean a lot. How he's set up the staff,
how he has set up the development here.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
I believe that a J.

Speaker 5 (57:59):
Hinch deserves a whole lot because I think with his
impact is even felt beyond just what he's doing to
manage the game on a night to night basis. That
to me is where I'm looking at a guy who's
gone and he's made holistic differences. This guy has effectively
added better than role players to this lineup from players
we already had here, and that to me does mean

(58:21):
a lot.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
Do you have a.

Speaker 5 (58:22):
School ball, you got a schoobl Most teams are gonna
have a good first pitcher. We run into even trash
teams that where we say, you know what though the
matchup to night is gonna be tough for this lineup
because they at least got picture this. But then what's
going on after that? When you're setting trend similar to
what you see Dan Campbell doing, all of a sudden,
people want to be aggressive on fourth downs. We know
he got that from Parcels and from his Saints days

(58:44):
with Sean Payton. What we see in the MLB right
now with Aja Hinch going out there and putting his stamp,
whether he made it up or not, putting his stamp
to having the most success out of things like the
pitching chaos and what he's able to do with this depth.
I do believe that he's over there turning some tricks.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
Do believe.

Speaker 5 (59:00):
I just said he deserves a hefty portion of the credit,
and uh, just because I care about your health, I
will come down from nine to nine point nine percent.

Speaker 7 (59:15):
It is funny, though, how guys like mckind'stree, torqun Myze
aj Hinch doesn't get any of the blame for them sucking,
but when they're good, it's all aj Hinch, the hinge
symptom in this town is insane. We love him more
than any of the players.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
I saw it that I think it was either that
or what I'm doing.

Speaker 5 (59:31):
As they absolute, they asked, does you know Larry Brown
get all the credit?

Speaker 2 (59:38):
All four? And I think one of the main differences
here is that aj Hinch started here when this was nothing,
when people said maybe he should be gone, when people.

Speaker 5 (59:48):
Couldn't see the vision. Now we see exactly where this
thing is at. Whereas Larry Brown, we know he stepped
into a team that was poised to make the ones
that they were making. Obviously he had to tinker at
the trade deadline. That's one of the differences from me.
I saw a j Hinch like Dan Campbell go and
helped steer these teams from nothingness with literally no future

(01:00:08):
and just rolling around in your own vomit to now
you're able to stand up and look at everybody else
who's doing that and say, hey, we're not part of
the upper echelon. That's one thing that I that I
hold in high regard as it relates to what we
see Dan Campbell and aj Hinch doing. It's because they
took their teams from literally no hope, no hope to
now being squads that we can say are what super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
In World Series contenders. But the talent's good though, That's what.

Speaker 5 (01:00:36):
But when we were saying this last year, we were
saying this two years ago. That's what I'm saying. If
he under but accumulates, it came from players we didn't expect.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Already here before here, before him to a degree, that's
what I'm saying. So now if he's coming here and
actually solving the issues with the development, he's coming here
and solving the issues with the players that they paid
money to has been struggling. That to me is huge
because they didn't have to go We.

Speaker 5 (01:01:00):
Thought that Scott Harrison gonna have to go out there
and do so much more. But because we got a
guy like aj Hinch, who I don't know what freaking
moja you're doing, shout out the Federan Bernard, he got.

Speaker 8 (01:01:08):
To the playoffs, and no disrespect to any of the players,
but for him to manage the way he did last
year and had that miracle season the way they had it,
he deserves a big share.

Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
Of the pie.

Speaker 8 (01:01:20):
Like like yes said, but we're not, by any stretch
like downplaying what these players have given us.

Speaker 5 (01:01:26):
I look at them more like like you are right
for everything that We liked about Todd McClelland last year
and just playoff in hockey. I thought that, you know,
he's gonna have an opportunity now to have more of
an impact and an effect on the team that we
saw Dan Campbell and AJ Hinch half.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
And that's why I'm glad we have those types of coaches.

Speaker 5 (01:01:44):
You know, there used to be, you know, the coaches
that could get the GM job as well or the
president's job in basketball. I feel like Dan Campbell and
AJ Hinch are more than just we're baseball managers here
to do a job. I think that these guys are
literally more than just culture builders, but I think that
they're also programmed builders. So though you do have a GM,
these are guys that know what they need, they know

(01:02:05):
what they want, and they understand how to build up
their talent base. We said the same thing even with
the Lions, and we see them going and putting their
trust in the guys they've drafted. They've given the back
to some of those guys, right, and then the other
guys who aren't getting the back, they're still going out
and saying, hey, Derrick Barnes, Hey, Hey, we want to
bring you guys back contribute to the same because we
do believe that we have the plan to help you

(01:02:25):
reach it.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
That to me is where I do believe a J.

Speaker 5 (01:02:27):
Hinch sometimes is not as credited as we see a
Dan Campbell get that type of credit. Hinches built up
a program out of stuff that we didn't know could
be built. We didn't even we looked at this pile
of trash and we thought, send these people out of
here and just bring in spend the money and bring
in the bats. Now we're looking at a situation or
we're not even saying bring in another BATA.

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
What back did we get? Well?

Speaker 7 (01:02:47):
Power bat?

Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Has he signed? Has he brought it in? Two years?
Three years? That's what I'm saying. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:02:53):
I like what aj Hinch is doing. I think it
goes well beyond just the managing on the field.

Speaker 7 (01:02:57):
And I don't hate aj Hinch. Nobody's gonna get that.
Nobody's gonna hear that. But uh Dad, with Tourette's proving
that he has an IQ of two, I asked him
a question in the chat. So does Dave Roberts get
credit for Will Smith? And Andy pa has developing under
him in Los Angeles, and of course he says no
because he's stupid, because they have literal billions being thrown

(01:03:20):
at talent. I'm not talking about Otani, I'm not talking
about Bets, I'm not talking about Freddie Freeman again. But
let me ask you one more time, for somebody like
you who can't hear. Does Brian Snitker get credit for
Ronald Acunya Azzi Albi's, Austin Reiley Max Freed at the time.
Does I'll give you another example. Why is it that

(01:03:44):
Kyle Tucker and Jordan Olivarez were able to win on
the twenty twenty two Astros team when Dusty Baker wasn't
the was the manager. This hinge idolatry has gotten out
of control. He's a damn good manager, but people act
like he's responsible for six for like fifty of the
win by himself.

Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
Use your brain, dads with therests, use your brain.

Speaker 7 (01:04:04):
So you're basically saying that all these Tiger players are
worthless and with any other manager they'd be trash.

Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
That's so effing.

Speaker 7 (01:04:11):
Disrespectful in the fact that you can't see that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
You know what, Dad with Turetz me just do this.
You are not worthy.

Speaker 7 (01:04:22):
Of talking on here for thirty minutes, you're gone. But
that the dumbest opition I've ever heard in my life.
Is the only person that's allowed to develop their players.
He's the only one. He's the only one. He's the
only one that's allowed to coach of his players. I
think his bottom three iq.

Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
Aj Hinch situation is a little bit more unique because
he's doing this with players that we did not think.

Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
Were worth even a roster spot on the lowly Tigers.

Speaker 5 (01:04:48):
It's not like he went to another squad that already
had people ready to go. You were saying, fire the man.
You were saying, certain players don't need to be here.
Wh What sense do we make of this? Do we
believe that another manager was gonna come here and have
this type of effect when for years they had managers
high level talent they were bringing in.

Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
What's the difference? And it's not just the tinkering. That's
why I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
Talking about the aspects of it that I don't believe
the Tigers really paid attention to and bringing in other
managers in the past.

Speaker 2 (01:05:17):
He helped change the culture. Culture and that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
It's this guy has brought a lot to the table.
Harvey and Spencer Trokosen are huge that in casey minds.

Speaker 7 (01:05:29):
And they were shit not bottom three IQ fan base
in this in this in.

Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
In so them getting better is just them. It's just
on them them getting better than.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
Just all on them. But this.

Speaker 7 (01:05:43):
But you guys act like this team would be twenty
games under five rounder without agent hints that Riley Green
was never gonna be great, that Terror School was never
gonna be great, that every other place their talent was
always going to be great because they were better.

Speaker 5 (01:05:55):
When I've seen some of these players on this roster
right now improving to be able to get give better
protection around the Riley Green I actually believe that Agent.

Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Hinch deserves some of that.

Speaker 5 (01:06:05):
We we can't sit back and talk about, well, this
team needs this, or what if our manager did this,
and then all of a sudden we actually get the
GM and the manager.

Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
That are doing those things, and it's like, let's just
strip it all down.

Speaker 5 (01:06:14):
No, I'm seeing what this guy is doing and his
effect is felt throughout everything, including the improvements of these people.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
I do believe that one hundred percent.

Speaker 5 (01:06:22):
You look at the lineup right now, if Scott Harris
didn't do what he did to Nip and Tuck doing
offseason and if A. J. Hinch didn't bring in effectively
his dogs, he got a freaking bomb a squad we
talk about, y'all know, wolver Pistons. I try and say,
tuned into what the front office is. Is it a
bomb front office or is it not? In the previous one,
before this one, it was too many chefs in the kitchen.

(01:06:42):
This one is one where you can to quickly say
whether they succeed or not, because they got time for that.
You know, the quality of that room. Agent Hinch brought
that to the Tigers and we didn't have this before.
Like that to me matters tremendously.

Speaker 8 (01:06:55):
We say, what another manager that the Tigers will be
a winning team. Sure, I don't know if they would
be this good without a J.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Hinch. I feel like another manager. Maybe we're not even
seeing some of these players here right exactly. Like that's
just me though, this is my opinion. I put the
you gotta put the camera flattel dot this starts. I quit.

Speaker 7 (01:07:17):
I quit, Yeah, I don't. I don't fit in in
this town. Nobody wants what I'm selling.

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
It's fine It's fine.

Speaker 7 (01:07:26):
God Riley Green was always.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
Going to be a bomb.

Speaker 7 (01:07:28):
Terror School was always going to be a bomb. No
manager or coach outside of Detroit ever, coaches are developed
their players. It's only Detroit coaches. It's only Dan Campbell,
it's only a J. Hinch, It's only fucking JB. Bickerstaff.
It's the only ones.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
This provincial ass.

Speaker 7 (01:07:51):
Justin do the show for me tomorrow, dead ass.

Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
I think it is different with these coaches. Tom McClelland
you got Tom McClelland J. Jamie bickers got. We saw
change the culture too though, and we in.

Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
Being close to the situation, the players actually said what
same players right who the players credit the coach they play.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
They said, he's come in and made the information easier
for us.

Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
We actually understand what we're doing right now when we
sat up here, and we glaze that because the players
glazed that they.

Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
Talked to that.

Speaker 5 (01:08:25):
The impact of having the right coach in the situation
is he just their ex's and oo's Before he ever did.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Anything that we would consider management on the field of play,
these players were already better because he was here. And
think about that.

Speaker 5 (01:08:39):
That's all that I'm stating and I do believe that
that is a huge part of this scene that's missing
the Tigers. I believe that they clearly knew we're building something.
I listen as a man straight up. We laughed at
Chris Sillich when he said they had enough last year.
We laughed, Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. That type
of stuff, to me, matters this organization knowing what they're doing,

(01:09:01):
and all of a sudden we get to sit up
here in glaze and Detroit Tigers right yeah, in a
year's time, and they've been doing it they right way
the whole time, while we've been sitting up here saying what, No,
you need to do this, you need to do this,
you need to do this. At a certain point in time.
It's just like, you know what, they got some recipe
figured out. And it's not just because they went out
and grabb players. If he would have went out, if
Scott Harris would have gone out and signed the rock

(01:09:21):
of people done what we wanted them to do, I'd
probably be more on fanal side. But because he didn't
do that, and even at that trade deadline, it was like,
what are they gonna do what? They just became the
best team in all the baseball off the last trade
deadline and they have not let the freak up since then.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
I don't know, bro, I wait that pretty heavily. I
really do. I really do, man, I really do. Let's
say what up there to some friends. JB. Smooth who
you gotta say what up? Done? Too?

that like button. Oh, we got satisfying. We gotta talk
a little bit about the pistons. We got a little
bit of news about Dennis Shrewder as well. Hey, so
the satisfy that like button. We'll talk about the Pistons
a little bit, talk about what else might be available

(01:13:44):
to them in free agency.

Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
I really feel like they're just gonna run this thing
back right now. Is so let's go ahead this man,
I got you. I can't hear the tunes right now,
but you know, I'll try and do my best. Hey, hey,
you know we in there.

Speaker 8 (01:13:55):
You know it's a bit of built up frustration this morning,
and sometimes you just need to really east man, So
just go ahead and hit that like button, you know,
just slightly tap it, you know, if you got to
go a little.

Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
Harder, that's okay. We invite all types.

Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Of love, so.

Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
Equal love, man, amongst the managers and the players.

Speaker 5 (01:14:16):
I feel like this is like a civil war, man, right,
like the coaches on one side, the players on another.
Godly but shout out to the Detroit Pistons historical leap
last year. But there's a lot of fans who do
not believe they've done enough to Boaster and to take
advantage Boaster effectively what they did last year. The success

(01:14:38):
they've already had, the foundation that they've built, that they've poured,
as well as being able to take advantage of a
wide open East is what some people believe. I don't
think that it's as wide open as people think. I
think that some of the other teams have done some
interesting moves to try and pull themselves off of the
all kind of just dysfunctional lists. With the Pistons, though,
one of the things we want to see them do
is try and bring back one of these veterans. Last year,

(01:15:00):
and right now they wound up with none of them,
So continuity and consistency is gonna have to come from
this young cores. But one interesting thing here, as it
relates to the Dennish shrewder news, we were hoping to
be able to get him back as a backup ball handler.
Via Cody Davis shout out to our guy, Cody Davis'
friend of the show, part of the extended family of
the Wool Crew. He is the Detroit News, the Pistons
beat writer. He says via Dennis Schroeder, to be a

(01:15:23):
starting point guard in the NBA, you can't ask for more.
In Sacramento, Dennis Schroder cherishes what he couldn't have in Detroit.
So I believe even more so the money, the sticking
point for Shreuter going to Sacramento was an opportunity that
they offered him. So now we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
Pivot, pivot, pivot for one mister Trajan Langdon.

Speaker 5 (01:15:42):
And that's where when I look at this offseason and
what they've done, I'm like, you know, what he did
quite well for himself. I don't know if they knew
Dennis Schroder is going into the off season looking for.

Speaker 2 (01:15:51):
A starting job.

Speaker 5 (01:15:52):
I don't know if they believe that because that man
signed that contract before the Detroit Pistons, or allegedly before
the Pistons and the the Kings were even able to
consummate that that sign and trade deal. So as I'm
looking at what the Pistons got available to them right
now the off season of pivot, that's where I still
continue to be firm about the B plus that I
give them, and I am looking forward to the combination

(01:16:15):
of Kris Avert and Jade n Ivy being able to
pick up the slack of guys like Dinnis Shrouder and
Malik Beasley. Is it gonna look exactly the same, No,
But I am looking forward to this team actually being
better as it relates to facilitation ball rotation, hitting the
cutters a little bit better, hitting your athletic players on
the back.

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
On the baseline. Man.

Speaker 5 (01:16:34):
But I wanted to get your take on it as well,
Flannel KG and the rest of the cast and the crew.
Dennis Schroeder sperting Detroit effectively because he wanted to start.

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
I'm not mad at him.

Speaker 5 (01:16:42):
Get your bag, get your starting position, But I do
believe that the Pistons would have been much better off
if they could have brought one mister Dennis Shooter back.

Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
No, I totally agree.

Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
And you know, Shrowder, it's a loss.

Speaker 8 (01:16:57):
Like I think most of the major ploraity of Pistons
fans did want to see Shrewder back, but he was
never going to get the opportunity that he was seeking here,
So I'm not necessarily mad with that. And then when
you look at Shrewder's history. That's kind of been a
story on him. He's always wanted these big opportunities. I'm
not mad at him for it. You know, as long
as you can be able to leverage yourself and get

(01:17:18):
the bag, that's fine. But I think the Pistons will
be fine. And we don't know what this iteration of
the Pistons will be. We don't know what they'll look like,
but I am confident that there is a chance they
could possibly be better than the previous version because once again,
you didn't lose much. Yes, you did lose something, but
I'm not worried as a fan. Trajan Langdon was able

(01:17:39):
to pivot pretty well and was able to replace some
of the things that we lost, and we shouldn't receive
too much like fall off from that. It's all about
what can they add at this point to maybe take
this team to another level. But as of right now,
as a fan, at least speaking from my perspective, I'm
not I'm fine.

Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
I'm chilling too, man, I'm fine. I'm chilling with it too,
because I'm looking forward to what the Pistons can do.
We're going to continue to have this be a refrain
next trade deadline to next offseason, and I am wondering
how much they're able to play up the value now
of these young players. There's a lot of belief in
Marcus Sasser too. I would to be able to get
your take on that one, because right now it looks
like the Pistons are a team that's going to have

(01:18:18):
to get a lot more from within than actually going
out there.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
So they did like the nip and tuck, similar.

Speaker 5 (01:18:22):
With said the Tigers, but are we gonna be able
to get that same type of leap to the next
level because the expectation is Detroit Pistons second round next year,
bare minimum.

Speaker 8 (01:18:32):
And Marcus Sasser is a player that I really like.
To me, he does deserve a role on this team.

Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
He comes in.

Speaker 8 (01:18:39):
He's been a spartan track for his Pistons team unequivocally,
but he has when he's out there, he's a defensive
liability at times, and his ball handling abilities are still
you know, they can use some work, They can use
some refinement. I don't think he's the worst ball handler
and distributor in the world, but it's definitely something that
he can work on. But we all know the offenses there.

(01:19:01):
His step back three is is pretty damn good for
being a bench level player.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
In the NBA. So if they want to give Sasser
the shot, I'm not mad at it, but they will
have to find some.

Speaker 8 (01:19:10):
Ways to supplement that defensively because that will create a
problem as we get deeper into the season and maybe
rolling into playoff time.

Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
But the book is still out on him.

Speaker 8 (01:19:18):
He still has a lot to prove and I'm looking
forward to him if he does get that opportunity to
go out there and show what he can do.

Speaker 5 (01:19:24):
Yeah, with Marcus Sasser, I'm hoping that the lineup is
one that puts him in a position to play to
his strengths. He doesn't need the moonlight as a point guard.
I believe that his best facilitation it comes off of
his ability to score, his ability to attract an extra defender,
because he can score at all three levels.

Speaker 2 (01:19:44):
But JB.

Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
Smooth, you're somebody who we haven't been able to get
necessarily a voice of reason your take on this Detroit
Pistons offseason right now. I do believe that a lot
of what the Pistons are gonna do to are gonna
have to do and depend on to take that next
step up.

Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
It's about the internal growth. This is what the piss.

Speaker 5 (01:20:00):
This is a saying, whether we agree with how it
went or not, this is the plane that they're taking.
How you feel about the Pistons being able to reach
those expectations.

Speaker 6 (01:20:09):
I mean, this is a plan that the Pistons are taking,
as you said as well too, So I think we
still need to give Tradan just a little bit of
time to get things straightened out and organize as well too.
I hate the fact that you know we couldn't keep
Dennis Schroeder, but you know that's fine too. We will
find something else as well. But I think this still
needs a little bit more time to develop. And obviously

(01:20:31):
these young players that we have right now are going
to grow. Kate is going to have to take step
up and take that leader role and just you know,
kind of delegate everything out to everyone else on the
team as well too. But I still think that there's
a lot of potential and all the players that we
have right now, it's just finding a way to get
everyone to jail properly into this next season. So give
it a little bit of time, give Tradesan a little

(01:20:52):
bit of leeway, and look for another big and bie
God please get rid of Tobias Harris.

Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
You never gonna live that one down.

Speaker 4 (01:21:01):
I will not.

Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
I see WEEZD three and three in the chat too.

Speaker 5 (01:21:04):
He says, there you go, kool aid, that's the first
good thing I heard you say about Sas.

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Naw.

Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
Bro, Look, I've been a Market Sasser fan for a
long time, and I'm gonna go back try and find
the episode where the pre draft press conference we basically
called the Market Sasser pick and was in the press
conference talked to Troy Weaver about it and he was like, bro, like,
y'all got my office bug because we understood his trends
from his previous days. Well, okay, see that he's going
to trade back up into this first round and we

(01:21:29):
had already seen him do that with the Pistons.

Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
What did he wind up doing?

Speaker 5 (01:21:33):
Traded back up into the first round to take Marcus
Sasser because of everything that he brings. The problem is
the Pistons have been searching for a backup point guard
and facilitator that's not necessarily Sas. Sas is a combo
guard who will go out there and straight up light
you up. But I believe in Sasser has to think
too much or think beyond what his natural skill set is.
That's why I believe Saser gets into some trouble and

(01:21:55):
when you already got a player LIKEKG said defensively, they
might try to pick on him. That means that he
has to be that much more positively efficient on the
offensive side of the ball. And that's where I believe
when he's able to just kind of dribble drive Chris Cross,
hit that step back three, get to the rack, and
then facilitate based off of that movement, that's why I
think that we.

Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
See the best Marcus Sass.

Speaker 8 (01:22:17):
We need to find out if he's more than just
the energy player. And I don't mean that in a
disrespectful way. A lot of teams need those type of players.
Perfect questions, but this is a bigger role for him.
If he were to assume this role, this would be
a big role for him, you all essentially being that
go to distributor when Cage's on the bench, so that
it's just questions that need to be answered with him.
But he does have a skill set that says he

(01:22:39):
can't succeed in this role. I just got to see
it first.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
All and I sa is four one one two.

Speaker 5 (01:22:43):
He says Sassa and Clintman are the two guys who
will need to make a strive and get into the rotation.
And that's interesting because Bobby Cleman is a guy that
Trajan Langdon again unprovoked, brought up and talked about at
the Chas Lanier introductory press conference a couple of days ago.
That's a player that he has, you know, high hopes
for and if we look at his game from Summer
league to what he's under the G League, I definitely

(01:23:05):
expect this guy to enter the rotation at some.

Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
Point in time.

Speaker 5 (01:23:08):
But I don't know how much we should be depending
on a Bobby Clintman to be our backup four or
floor stretching big man. I don't even think that Bobby
Cleintan is necessarily going to be in the rotation to
start off the season. I do believe that Marcus Sasser
is gonna get every opportunity to be that backup combo guard.
Bobby Cleintman is one that I don't know's going to

(01:23:29):
get that deal, but I see a dis again. He says,
Clintman is a big man. It's gona interesting because it
gave him the full four year guarantee. Guaranteed deal for
a second round pick, so they definitely want to see
this guy hit the rotation soon.

Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
And I see WEZD throwing three Sasser Holland and Clintman.

Speaker 5 (01:23:46):
So there's a lot of people who do believe we're
gonna get something, some type of contribution, some type of
step up from some of these guys off the bench.
For me, I'm looking for the step up to come
from the guys I'm on the starting lineup. I don't
think that there's any four that they could have gone
out there and reasonably brought in that was gonna make
any of a bigger difference than what Kay Cunningham, Masar
Thompson and Jayden Durham and Jade and Ivy whatever he

(01:24:09):
can bring can.

Speaker 2 (01:24:09):
Do next season.

Speaker 5 (01:24:10):
And that's where I'm excited about Jade and Ivy and
Isaiah Stewart kJ. I wanted to pick your brain about this.

Speaker 2 (01:24:15):
What are reasonable expected expectations for a guy like Jade
and Ivy entering next season Because for me personally, they're
saying he's gonna enter camp healthy.

Speaker 5 (01:24:24):
They said he's gonna he's he's gonna have full camp
to be able to get right for the Detroit Pistons season.
You saw the changes that he made to his game
and improvements that he made last year. I'm expecting a
Jaden Ivy that by trade, by trade deadline, by All
Star break, you're seeing a guy who's averaging back to
at least at seventeen four and four, And I do
expect the three point the outside shooting efficiency to still

(01:24:46):
be there.

Speaker 8 (01:24:46):
Yeah, that's the biggest question here because I really feel
like jayd and Ivy made so many improvements over this
last season before he got hurt. You know, we talked
about their efficiency. Got the basket, he got better at that.
His defense it took a step up. His three point
shot definitely took a step up, and he looked like
he was getting more comfortable being that secondary ball handler,

(01:25:09):
being able to handle the offense win k you know,
when they would staggered the minutes, and he was somebody
that was able to go out there and actually win
you a couple games over this last season in the clutch.
So I think he's coming back, and I love the
Pistons decision to you know kind of you know, make
sure that he was healthy and not play him in
the playoffs because Honestly, I felt like he maybe could
have played in the playoffs, but they didn't want to

(01:25:31):
push it. So you're giving him a whole offseason to
get healthy, get right. He's coming in with no restrictions.
He can go out there and play the style of
basketball that we know him to play, very athletic, very aggressive,
lights to push the pace, and I think that fits
well with you know, the biggest question with Ivy was
can he fit with K for a long time?

Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
And when JB. Bickerstaff came in the door, he kind
of put that question the rest.

Speaker 8 (01:25:55):
And in a small sample size last year, I would
say you saw way more positive from the kid and
Ivy pairing on the floor then.

Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
You saw negative. So I just think they need to
keep feeding into that.

Speaker 8 (01:26:06):
He was second on this team last year and scoring,
so I don't expect that to go anywhere.

Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
I would hope that would go up.

Speaker 8 (01:26:13):
If he can push maybe toward getting toward twenty points
a game, I think that's that's super beneficial to this
Pistons team and to K Cunningham.

Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
So I think that he can come in.

Speaker 8 (01:26:23):
He can't hit the ground running, and at a bare minimum,
he should be able to do what he did last year,
be second on the team in scoring provide you know,
another presence besides k Cunningham, and in certain clutch situations,
you might get the ball and you might be the
one that's trying to close the game.

Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
So I'm not mad at Acg in the chald.

Speaker 5 (01:26:41):
I want to know what the fans think to the
Chad family, what's you guys confidence other than Jade and Ivy,
Because you know, we all talk about free agent pickup.
Trajan Langdon literally said that Jade and Ivy is the
free agent pickup.

Speaker 2 (01:26:53):
I know that that wasn't necessarily something that a lot
of fans wanted to hear.

Speaker 5 (01:26:56):
There's a lot of people believe that Jade and Ivy
could be trade bait, but it seems like there's a
lot of belief.

Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
In who he can be because you saw the improvements.

Speaker 5 (01:27:03):
You look at acg Ivy should come back and he
thinks he can put up eighteen point six assists and
forty percent from behind the arc. Hey, we saw him
take the sleep last year, and if you look at
some of the stretches that he had before he got hurt,
the assist numbers were actually starting to take.

Speaker 2 (01:27:19):
A jump Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:27:20):
One of the most underrated aspects that I like about
Ivy playing in the lineup with k is that for
some reason they got a good chemistry on cage relocation
in threes.

Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
So if K gets blitzed at the top of the key,
J and Ivy gets the rock.

Speaker 5 (01:27:33):
J and Ivy got really really good and in control
at diving downhill, driving into the paint, either finishing or
what would he do? Sometimes you hit that little Steve Nash,
you run right unerneath the basket and you keep your
dribble and he would.

Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
Find kd for that three pointer.

Speaker 5 (01:27:49):
If you look at CAGs catch and shoot three point numbers,
you look at kse three point percentages. Some of his
best three point stretches did come while playing with a
Jade n Ivy. To me, that shows that j n
Ivy is continued and to learn Jay and Ivy is
continuing to develop, And that's where I'm hoping that the
injury is something that can be completely behind him. Luckily,
it was one of those situations where they stayed clean
break they were able to go and get this thing

(01:28:11):
fixed up, similar to an Aiden Hutchinson's situation. And I
do believe that we're gonna see Jayden and Ivy, who
I've continued to put in a category above Jalen Jordan
and Nasar Thompson. So if I believe we may see
those guys stuff towards to start them, I definitely believe
in Jade and Ivy the player and what he could
be here in Detroit.

Speaker 8 (01:28:30):
Yeah, he's right on the cusp. He's right there. There's
not a lot of big changes that he needs to make.
He just needs to continue doing what he's doing. And
I'm glad that you brought up K's three point, you know,
being better with jay and Ivy on the floor, because
you know you spoke to this a lot last year,
and I gotta give you credit. When Kate is able
to move off ball, that's a whole different like type

(01:28:51):
of k Cunningham when he can just focus on affecting defenses,
going out there and doing what you do best using
your body, getting to the paint, you know, stretching the
floor as well.

Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Like there.

Speaker 8 (01:29:02):
When j n Ivy's on the floor, that relieves Kate
Cunningham to just freely move around the basketball court. And
I think that you know, when j n Ivy comes back,
that that could play into maybe Kate's three point percentages
being a little bit better, But that is an area
in which he needs to improve if the Pistons want
to take that next step.

Speaker 5 (01:29:19):
I was just about to ask you what area of
it do you want to see him take that leap
in next year? And I do believe it's in the
facilitation even more to me, I think it's no, no, no, yeah.
I was gonna say with Ivy, what do you want
to see him improve on next year? Because we're talking
about a backcourt at one point in time that we
thought had potential co stars, not even Batman Robbins. There's

(01:29:40):
some people now who they believe, now that his injury
has happened, that he's going to be a Robin.

Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
I believe if his facilitation takes a step forward, that's
going to naturally feed into who he is as a
player as a score.

Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
I believe that if he can.

Speaker 5 (01:29:53):
Get those assists up a couple like we saw the
in the chat. There's some people in the chat who
are bullets understand I think it was ACG.

Speaker 2 (01:29:59):
I do. I believe we see the best version of
Jay ninety.

Speaker 8 (01:30:01):
If your starting two guard can go out there and
become a facilitator as well. Knowing the type of facilitator
K is and you line them up with a whole
bunch of shooters on their team, that that's only gonna
benefit the Pistons.

Speaker 18 (01:30:13):
Man.

Speaker 8 (01:30:14):
So I do agree that's probably the biggest area he
needs to work on is being a better distributor of
the basketball, especially with his driving ability and the way
he can draw defenses in get into the basket practically
at will. It would behoove him to, yes, be a
better distributor and be able to go out there and
move the ball around. But I think I would like
to see him score more as well. Man, I think

(01:30:34):
he just needs to continue to be aggressive when he
gets his opportunities. I would even call, you know, certain
sets around Jay and Ivy and his style of play.
I would like to see that a lot more because
I want to see him hit that twenty point a
game threshold, because I think he could get there.

Speaker 5 (01:30:48):
Oh, what do you think them starts are from next year?
Because I do believe that the bare minimum is right
back to where he was. I would love to know
that Jay n iv is a twenty five and five player. Oh,
I don't know if he there yet seventeen four.

Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
And four last year. Yeah, on high percentage, high volume
from behind art.

Speaker 5 (01:31:05):
That's a big jump though, to twenty five No, no,
twenty points five bounds okay yea, yeah, yeah, I'm like,
what twenty slash five slash five?

Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
Let me let me do that. I wouldn't. I would
say kzy parked up like b Yeah, like twenty five.

Speaker 8 (01:31:20):
No, I think he can get to I don't need
to see a hugely nineteen and a half points a
game and maybe get those assists numbers up a little bit.
I think he's fine. You said he was seventeen four
and four. Yep, yeah, I would take nineteen six and five.

Speaker 5 (01:31:37):
I feel like you're gonna land like nineteen six and four.
That's why I do you look at the opportunities he's
gonna have next year though they're a way up. We're
looking at Jay Navy, who if you're talking about him
being the secondary ball handler when Cage on the court,
as well as who do you say, who the trader
say is gonna be feeling the.

Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
Did it shrewter roll? Yeah, we were helping.

Speaker 5 (01:31:57):
We were hoping he would say size and lavert some
of the other people he eventually said LeVert. But we
played the clip on the show yesterday and for thirty
seconds of the forty eight, for thirty five of the
forty eight seconds.

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
It was all about Jade and ninety.

Speaker 5 (01:32:09):
Yeah, you know, being this free agent pickup, being this
great addition to the side lineup, and being able to
be the backup facilitator. He's gonna be amazing because we
just came from a coach who didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
Know what to do with this man. No, that's a
fact at all.

Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
Like it literally buried him on the bench, and now
we got one at the very least that's understanding how
to put him in his best possible position to succeed.

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
And I do believe that it helped Saser.

Speaker 5 (01:32:31):
You look at Sasser down the stretch and the type
of development, the developments that he took, the steps he
took for in the second of the season when they
were able to rest Cade more, Saser took some leaps
forward too. No, he figure something out with these guards.

Speaker 8 (01:32:44):
It was a small sample size though, and his role,
even still with him improving last year was to just
come in and score, just come in, provide a source
of three point scoring for us when we need to
rest some of our other bench guys in our starters.

Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
So I just need to see him what he's gonna
look like full time in that row. But overall, I agree.

Speaker 8 (01:33:04):
With everything that you're saying, and I JB. Bickerstaff will
have these guys in the best positions. So and we
know that that Ivy and k their minutes are gonna
need to be staggered at some points. So with Jay
and Ivy, you know him bringing him up, he's gonna
be huge for that second unit as well.

Speaker 2 (01:33:20):
So like you said, if he.

Speaker 8 (01:33:21):
Can improve in that ball handling department, that not only
bowls well for the starters, but also the bench because
he's gonna be out there a lot of those minutes
with the bench as well, and you know, being that
primary facilitator for them.

Speaker 5 (01:33:33):
And I see some people in the chat as well.
Maurice Shaw, he's I don't think that he's too pleased
with the off season. He said, I guess we're gonna
give up four first and Holland next year to get
a power forward. One of the cool things is this,
the pisiness can just sit back and wait to see
who's this grunt to who needs to make a move.
Who needs to free themselves up right, Who's who's approaching

(01:33:54):
this apron and they need to be underneath it because
they want to be able to approach this next drift
season with complete flexibility. That's where that trade exception that
the Pistons have right now, the fourteen zero point two
million dollar trade exceptions, that's where that comes in a
handy because now you can actually say, you know what,
We'll take the whole contract from you and it and
we'll just throw you some seconds or down the road first.

(01:34:16):
It's not gonna take four first and any of our
young players for the Pistons to be able to play
that type of role in the transaction.

Speaker 8 (01:34:22):
And when you look at what like Trajan's decision making
has been this offseason, you do kind of wonder if
part of that is, Okay, I want to save some
money because with the second tax apron, it's gonna be
real hard to have a lot of MAX players on
your team. Man, And we got contracts still yet to
come up. I mean Jay and Ivy Jalen during sar Thompson,

(01:34:42):
these are players that we are going to have to
figure out what we want to do with them in
a short amount of time, we only got maybe another
year at most for a couple of those guys. So
with the second tax apron being what it is, it's
gonna be harder to retain a lot of those max contracts.
A lot of teams are only gonna have one or
two players on their team total, and the rest is

(01:35:03):
gonna be filled with role players or you know, aging
veterans and things of that nature. So you wonder how
much of that played into Trajan's decision making, because you
do want to maybe hold on to some money with
these extensions possibly coming up.

Speaker 5 (01:35:17):
Hey, in turn, Haley's holding things down in the sound booth.
Got sports knowledge too. What you trying to drop on
us about this Pistons.

Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
I just want to.

Speaker 16 (01:35:26):
See if the group census is like, we're sad that
Schroeder's not gonna be with us, but it's okay. Like
I feel like the Pistons should prioritize their minutes on Cunningham,
Ivy Sasser and dare I say Schroeder could get in
the way of that rotation? Yeah, And I feel like

(01:35:48):
Schroeder is meant to be on a win now team
and the Pistons are still developing their roster.

Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
You know, and and you look at the contract that
he got too and what it traj and say, we're
not necessarily trying to ham for anything exact.

Speaker 5 (01:36:03):
That might be more true to what you're saying there,
because young Shooter wants to start, Shooter wants to bag,
Shooter wanted the years. I'm sure that there was something
the Pistons could have worked out, but he would have
been on the bench. Yeah, he's not starting over k.
He's definitely not gonna start over a Jad and Ivy
who I know, they got some high hopes for JB.

Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Bridge. Steff came in and restored that order right away.
We didn't have to wait. There wasn't no like, hey,
is there any controversy here? Well, you know, everybody's gonna
get a chance. But we really like Jayden Ivy Like
that's literally what he was like, there's no controversy to
start off this training camp like it was the prior one.

Speaker 5 (01:36:33):
But I think you're right there is still an aspect
of team building. Traders telling us this. They didn't make
the splash.

Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
Yeah, and when you look at the schroulder, it's like
that is the type of piece that you're like, Yo,
if we're ready to.

Speaker 5 (01:36:43):
Go and contend right now. You probably bring him back
for the continuity aspect. He is a vet, He's played
in those high pressure situations, and you know what if
when you're in that situation, space be darned as a
relations to the development and the growth of those young players.
But the Pistons find themselves in the area where I
think anton Elly she's correct. They get the ability to

(01:37:04):
still build towards winning, still take the next steps, but
also make sure they got the space for these young
players to develop and grow because they got to make
a decision. You got Sasser, you have Ivy, and you
have Duran, who are all up for contracts this year,
not like it was last year where they could have
extended them. I'm talking about if you don't do something
this year, they're gone. They're gonna walk for nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:37:26):
That's a fact. That's that's where we're at right now
with these guys. And so I do agree with her
on that one. You want to know what you have.

Speaker 5 (01:37:32):
Sassar showed I believe enoughing that's simple size that they
were probably comfortable letting the shoot the wall.

Speaker 8 (01:37:37):
Yeah, they'll probably give at least Sasser the opportunity to
prove himself because of the improvements that he's made, and
now Haley was cooking with that. It's just Shrewder was
such a great addition for this team midseason, but we
all knew that it wasn't a long term piece. We
all knew that he wasn't gonna be one of the
building blocks on a you know, Eastern Conference contending Pistons teams.

Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
Just unfortunate.

Speaker 8 (01:38:01):
Maybe you know, we could have had him for another
couple of years because it's hard to find three and
D guards in this league and that's something that so
Shrewder provided in spades. He's somebody that could go out
there get a bucket, but he can also play on
the other end, So they they're gonna have to find
a way to supplement that. Make no mistake like what
Shrewder brought to the table defensively, that that changes everything

(01:38:22):
and that you know, kind of went into decisions that
trading had to make on the fly. But I think
they'll be able to recoup and play better defense as
a team. But it's still yet to be seeing how
bad that Shrewder, you know, not re signing with the Pistons.
How bad would that hurt the Pistons going to next year.

Speaker 2 (01:38:38):
Yeah, see weeez two and three. He believes.

Speaker 5 (01:38:40):
He says, we are ready to contend with what we
have right now, kool Aiden, you know. Trajon Langen said this,
They are ready to compete. He does believe that this
team has currently constructed, is ready to compete.

Speaker 4 (01:38:49):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
He believes that they're contingent. That's gonna be sped up
by who the young players.

Speaker 5 (01:38:54):
Just like last year, this was sped up because these
guys took the next step and then he said it
changed things for us and all of a sudden, they're
in this next season and I really wanted them to
be able to bring back at least one or two
of those vets from last year. Obviously we know they
had to deal on the table for Beasley. Trajan spoke
to that and he said that he was disappointed because
they were excited to have Malie Beasley.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Backslutely, they are absolutely excited and I have him a
part of what you got going on right now. More
shooters the better. That's why I'm out with the thing.

Speaker 5 (01:39:20):
But what do you think, man, where do you see
the Tigers with the Tigers the Pistons that next year?

Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
Because I.

Speaker 5 (01:39:27):
I'm looking over some of these teams in the East
have done, but I am going to be bullished and
said of this team, the expectation and where they're gonna land.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
It's hosting the playoff series last year.

Speaker 8 (01:39:36):
Next year, come on, man, I think the Pistons could
be a top four seed and I have not relented
from that.

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
I thought they could have been a top four seed
this past season. You know, shit just didn't shake out
at the end.

Speaker 8 (01:39:46):
But overall, and it's funny because I was gonna ask
this in the Swisher Brick yesterday, do you think that
the Pistons can make the second round as presently constructed?

Speaker 5 (01:39:55):
I do, and I think that absolutely they can because,
like I said last year, with injuries to Ivy and
Stewart and no Beazy effectively, thank you.

Speaker 8 (01:40:03):
And if if they can maintain health throughout the year,
I really think that the addition of Duncan Robinson and
Karris Lavert, it could look different than what this previous
iteration of the Pistons look like, and it could be
for their benefit because Duncan Robinson somebody we know.

Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
He's a movement shooter.

Speaker 8 (01:40:21):
He's not somebody that's going to take as many bold
shots like Beasley would take when he was in rhythm.
He gets some more in line with the offense. I
was talking to Ansent about it the other day. I
do that sentiment, Karris. Karris Lavert can be a solid
player offensively, of course, defensively he gives you something. It's
not like he's just going out there and he's a turnstile.

(01:40:41):
He gives you something. But I think he's better than
Simone fin tek Yo or he can even be a
better scorer than a Dennis Shrewter. So I think the
Pistons are are sending in a good position to still
move out of the first round next year.

Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
I still do.

Speaker 5 (01:40:55):
And I see you pisson up a punt guard in
the summer league from Tennessee A. It was the punt
guard that play with Chaslanier. He's excited about the opportunity
to play.

Speaker 8 (01:41:02):
It's another thing, how what's chas Lanier's role on this
because he is a specialist.

Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
I'm gonna ask by him right after this though, one
more from uh Dad with Tourette's I guess it's thirty
minutes is up set.

Speaker 5 (01:41:16):
A three to one assist, the turnover ratio and shoots
over league average from three.

Speaker 2 (01:41:20):
What's everyone's issue with Sassar's back of.

Speaker 5 (01:41:22):
Point guard getting twenty two minutes? Given twenty two minutes,
I don't have a problem with him playing. It's just
we I believe we saw the best of Sasser when
we when he was actually out there with another point
guard too. He was coming off the bench and playing
minutes with Cade, or playing minutes with a Shrewder, playing
minutes with Beasley and Tim Hardaway Junior too, who are
also guys who are gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Facilitate to a degree. So I want him play in
the minutes.

Speaker 5 (01:41:45):
I think he's earned that with the short uh you
know Stint that we saw the sample sized post trade deadline.

Speaker 2 (01:41:52):
But I want to see Marcus Saster play.

Speaker 5 (01:41:53):
I want to see him get the minutes an opportunity
to prove he could be a good combo guard because,
like I said, that three to one assists, it's not
because he's out there hunting assists. It's because he's so
dynamic of a guarden of a ballhandler, and he can
get to his spots and he he has that secondary
instinctual facilitation.

Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
That's why I said, don't put him out there and
just yes, natural. Don't put him out there and say,
now go one point guard.

Speaker 5 (01:42:14):
That's a that's a skill set. That's what Makeky Cunning
him so special. But what makes Sassor specials the fact
that he'll dot you from three and then guess what
he pumped? Fact, and y'all are all itchy. They don't
like that necessarily with Kay, So it's like playing to
his strengths. I would rather whoever the back of facilitator
is hit Sasser. Sassar's catching shoot three point is gonna

(01:42:34):
be better than a lot of other people on the team.

Speaker 2 (01:42:36):
That's a fact. It just I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:42:37):
I like I like him in a role where his
combo guard, where facilitation or scoring is something that can
be maximized.

Speaker 8 (01:42:44):
No, I totally agree that's where Sassa is flourished. I
would much rather have him in that role and not
take full responsibility of being a distributor, you know, for
that second unit. But if they decide that, I trust JB.
Bickerstaff too, and he's the one seeing them every day,
and you.

Speaker 5 (01:42:59):
Brought Chaz Landing, and I'm gonna group in another three
point shooter here because Big Dan David says, what role
does Duncle Robinson have on his Piston squad.

Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
We've talked to.

Speaker 5 (01:43:06):
Allready about Charis Avert, so I'm gonna talk about Duncle Robinson.
We can talk about chald Ston there as well. Duncan Robinson.
When we went and dug through the numbers, there were
certain things that I knew about him that I was like, Okay,
we can benefit from this. But when you looked at
his freaking assists percentage compared to even the elite Beasley's,
It's like, you know what, we got a player who
I know is gonna make the extra pass that's gonna

(01:43:26):
swing and if.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
He's not on, he's not gonna just keep shooting. People
say shooters shoot, that's.

Speaker 5 (01:43:32):
The ones that don't necessarily understand how a pump fake one,
dribble bot hit the cutter. Duncan Robinson actually understands that.
So if the shots not working, he can hit the
three off movement, which I love that. You look at
what the Pistons have done, all the shooters movement shooters yes,
catcher shoot shooters, yes, pick and pop shooters.

Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
Yes. They got a lot of guys that can do
a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:43:52):
And Duncle Robinson when he gets the ball in the
intermediate is where I think it's even more. I believe
guys like Jalen Duran they're gonna see an improvement. Guys
like They're going to see a benefit from having a
player like a Duncan Robinson because he does make the
intermediate pass.

Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
He did make the drop pass.

Speaker 5 (01:44:07):
So aside from the three point shooting, I am looking
forward to them being active on the offensive side of
the ball as it relates to making the extra streme
pass or finding the cutters.

Speaker 8 (01:44:16):
Yeah, for everybody that's upset that we lost Elite Beasley,
I'm upset to let me introduce.

Speaker 2 (01:44:22):
You to white Malie Beasley on a smile. If I
got planned on the smile, I know it's real, but
that's that's what he is.

Speaker 8 (01:44:33):
They are the same archetype of player I've been screaming
at ever since he was signed. You did not lose
much by swapping out Malik Beasley for Duncan Robinson. And
in some ways Duncan Robinson can be better than Maliite Beasley.
And one of those points, like you said, is being
having better vision than Malie Beasley would have at time.
Sometimes he would get a tunnel vision when he's trying

(01:44:54):
to get his basket to go and he doesn't look
for the extra pass. Duncan Robinson can do that. He
is also somebody that can put the ball on the floor.
He is also somebody that's gonna be kind of a
liability on defense. Malik Beasley wasn't a great defender either,
So I think that with getting Duncan Robinson, is he
as prolific as a shooter as a Maliite Beasley over

(01:45:14):
this past season.

Speaker 2 (01:45:15):
No, but he's right up there. I mean he's the
all time leading.

Speaker 5 (01:45:19):
Not as prolific, I agree with that, but he is
as reliable. The percentages are what they are. He still
shoots high volume. Is just Beasley was like freaking going
out there like I'm hitting seven threes a game, which
is incredible because now you know that that's a guy
who more times than not you're throwing the ball and
you can do this.

Speaker 2 (01:45:35):
You can ramp up how much you do this per game.
That's huge. But can they replace that?

Speaker 5 (01:45:39):
Yes, when you look at the three point shooters that
have the minutes that these guys are gonna get, the
Pistons are still as a team. I believe you're gonna
look at them at the end of the year and
says a team, they still have a similar amount of
three pointers made as last year, if not probably a
better chance to have a hire. They lost a Jade
n Ivy last year, and now you're gaining Jade n Ivy,
A couple of nice shooters and people who wanted to
make the extra who want to find the extra shooter,

(01:46:02):
who want to find the cutter, who want to throw
the lob.

Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
I like that about these guys.

Speaker 8 (01:46:05):
And Duncan Robinson has been somebody that we've seen it
in the playoffs as well. So coming down to stretch,
no offense to Beasley, you know, I don't you know.
Of course we would have liked him to catch the ball,
but he could have had a better first round series.
I think we all this Pistons fans would agree with that.
Duncan Robinson is somebody that we've seen do it in
a playoff situation. He can hit big shots when it matters,

(01:46:25):
So that's what I'm looking forward from him. Come in
and hit big shots. You're gonna be relied upon to
be the majority source of three points scoring for this team.
I need you to just come in, be efficient, and
play within the Florida the offense. I think we'll be fine.

Speaker 5 (01:46:39):
One hundred and one more Fromando Small so we can
tell everybody's favorite segment. He says, what do you guys
think the three guys we got could be better than
the three we let go?

Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
It's tough.

Speaker 5 (01:46:51):
Shooter is a starting caliber point guard, but it's also
a notion of it as it relates to fit. We
don't need a starting caliber point guard, right. So the
three guys, you know, the Chads, Landier, Duncan, Robinson, Karris
the vert joining this team.

Speaker 2 (01:47:06):
I do. I'm I like the fits of what these
players could be.

Speaker 5 (01:47:10):
Obviously, you gotta wait for Chaz because he's a second
round pick. He's a rookie, he had a first round grade,
and he is one of your specialists. You just want
to wait and see the other two guys. I do
believe that you're gonna see similar, if not better. One
of the characteristics that Trajan Landon harped on why they
went and locked these guys up in particular, and why
they even pivoted away from maybe a Milik Monk size.

(01:47:32):
They said, we are bigger. You look at what we
had last year. The out out of Tim Tim Hardaway
and and and Malik Beasley and then a shooter. You
look at the Vets who bought in this year, they're bigger,
And he said, karas Avert can defend the one through
the three and na pinch, he can switch off to
your bigger stretch floor stretching bigs. So that to me,
Trajan believes we got better defensively. He does believe he

(01:47:53):
got a little bit better as relates a facilitation, and
he thinks we got more versatile players who can do
things that all three levels a little bit more efficiently
than the guys who left.

Speaker 8 (01:48:03):
I think so too, And this is why I was
totally on board, especially with the Krrisler Vert signing, and
you know, not saying he's the greatest player ever anything
like that, but I totally agree they got bigger. And
that's a big key for this Pistons team because you're
you're continuing to make your strength stronger. We all know
this calling card for this team is defense, and with

(01:48:23):
them just getting bigger size wise, that's only gonna help
play into them being an even better defensive team than
what we even.

Speaker 2 (01:48:30):
Saw last year, which is crazy because they are already
like a top ten defensive team. Yeah, bro, so yeah,
how better? How much better can they get?

Speaker 5 (01:48:37):
I'm looking for the lib connections to go up. Who
led the league in dunks? Who was leading in lib connections?
I'm looking forward to actually that improving. I can't wait, man,
But Dante one five to one, four ninety nine superschakg
don't tell that too easy, because he still thinks Beasy
is better than Duncan Robertson.

Speaker 2 (01:48:55):
He says, easy, They Duncan Robertson. He says, easy, they
are the same player. But yeah, Robinson and l Jimmy
really are, and you can make the argument that one
is better than the other.

Speaker 8 (01:49:04):
I would lean toward Beasley technically being better than Ducky Robinson,
but you playing semantics at this point. They are literally
the same archetype of player.

Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
I don't think we need to.

Speaker 8 (01:49:13):
You know, if they had to win out and gave
up Malie Beasley and got somebody that's shooting like thirty
two percent from three, then I would have some questions.

Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
But he is a high you know, volume, high efficiency
three point shooter.

Speaker 8 (01:49:25):
I'm not I'm I'm cool, but shout out easy man.
We all know Easy's opinions. Could be a little little
on the wilderside. And I see a D TWA straight up,
he says, facts, JB. J B, what are you saying
in the chat? Let me see you know what.

I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
