Public bathrooms are clean, they don't smell, they're not dirty.
They don't have any paper towels, and there's no trash
cans anywhere. So I think that's how they keep.

it's heated seats most of them. Even the subway clean,
the train station's clean, everything's clean.

No, I didn't do any of that. We went to Hiroshima, Roshima. Yeah,

kids being burned, and it is horrific that the leaders
and everybody should see this and just get rid of
nuclear bombs because you're ruining innocent lives. Innocent lives are

it's there's a couple of halls, it's all shopping and
in the middle you go down this little hallway and
up these stairs and it's it's like warm, and it's uh,
what would you call it. It's humid. And these owls

are just sitting just you know, their their claws are
attached to the pole, you know, like a little chain.
But it's in the middle of the day, so that's
when they're kind of sleepy anyway. But they like you
only you have to wash your hands, obviously, and then
you can only put them with the back of your
hand slowly. And there's giant ones, there's little baby ones over.

So I finally made it all the way to the
end of the path and I found one guy selling
his art. But what he has done is he bought

he doesn't have to worry about parking.

Whole parking structure, and they're changing things up March second,
the mayor has decided and like instead of everything being
in effect until eight pm, it's going to be in
effect until six pm. There are a couple more lots
that are going to open up to residents only, meaning
San Diego City residents. So it's just kind of a mess.

So what I took away from this was it's affecting
attendance at museums. It's affecting people who volunteer because they
have to park, so far away. They have to get
to work like an out like forty five minutes early,
so they can walk all the way to volunteer.

attendance at museums. It's affecting people who volunteer because they

for years and he dedicated his book to her. It
also happened to happen to coincide with the thirtieth anniversary
of The First Wives Club, which she was in with
Diane keat Nagoliehan. So I was lucky to be invited

to this event.

Where was it like in a ballroom? Was it in there?
Speaker 1 (35:54):
David Geffen Theater, So it's a very intimate theater.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
How many people were there?

Oh so you were You're kind of a big deal.

And I was in the first row.

Heaven and it was so lovely. She was lovely. But
there were so many celebrities there because they would be

And all of a sudden, everybody goes nuts. I turn around.
He's right behind him, Billy Crystal, Billy Crystal. Katie Couric
was there. And then the best part was she's a
character actress two books. Her name is Jennifer Lewis, and
she is hysterical, and all of a sudden there's kind

of all this commotion to the right. We look over
and we're like, what who is that? And she comes
on stage and first of all, she has such a
foul mouth, it is so it was funny, and she
talks about this Bet no, this is Jennifer Lewis. Oh okay,
and Bet Midler is a little more buttoned up, and

and she comes out and she's like af this and
half that, and we were this MF or you know.
She went on a thing with Mark Shaman to I
don't know where they were, but they were writing camels
and she went to get off the camera and she's like, Mark,
I think I broke my starts with a p and
(37:44):
on the spot, he wrote a song about it and
he sang it with her and it it brought the
house down. It was so funny.

Did you physically meet Bette Midler?
Speaker 1 (37:55):
I've met her before, so no, she was sick, so
she didn't do any like meet and greets at all.
She was really really sick, so she didn't perform. She
did not perform. No, but he actually she just turned
eighty and he rewrote Remember Johnny Carson? Yes, so do
you remember the last episode of Johnny Carson when she

came out and she sang to him. It was just
her and him on the stage, and she won an
Emmy for it. She sang one more for the one
for my Baby, and one more for the Road, and
he in turn rewrote the lyrics to that song and
sang it to her with just a whole different set

of lyrics for her adieth. So he actually sang that
to her and she just burst into tears and it
was It was great. It was a really really fun evening.

Is she a nice person when you met her the
first time?

How much could it positive you? Less than twenty bucks?
I deal in my defense, it was thirty dollars. I
had twenty dollars of cash. This is all I had
in my To be fair, I wanted to make sure,

like I didn't expect him to pay for it. So
I said, you, here's my portion, although it was a
lot more money than my portion actually was.
