even know if we've explained the rules. But you get
a point for every win that you get in the tournament.
You get a half for a tie, and then if
you make it out of group play, you get a point,
and then if you make it to the finals, you
get a plus three, and if you win the finals,

our picks for us.

I got the first selection. I'll get it started. I
am going to uh, you know, I realized that France
is like the co favorite. But Wimby couldn't come through
in the clutch last night, and Van Derveld's the other
big choker in history of sports. The French aren't gonna
come through. So I am going to take this little

program out of Spain. I'm gonna go with Spain.

That's my pick to win the whole thing. Tell me why.

Spain, for my money, has the best midfield in the world.
Padrian Rodriy the duo there, I think they're tremendous there.
They got attacking weapons on the wings. Laminium all, for
my money, is the best player on planet Earth. He's
a young nineteen year old who is out of his mind.

Nico Williams on the other wing is coming back from
an injury. He's really good. They got good defect They.

Have pretty much.

I think, not only good balance, but I think the
high level play at the right positions to take the
whole thing.

All right. I love it. I don't even need to
hear anything from Anders. That's good enough for me.

out in a moment. Jackson, who do you like with
pick number two in the draft. Now that I have

Yeah, you really have stolen my baby. That makes things
a little bit tougher.

But I am gonna go France for almost thinking about
points in this and wanting to win the Green Jacket draft,
because I don't think France is going to win it all.
But I think that based on the last two World
Cups they have gotten They won the final in eighteen,
they got to the final in twenty two. They have
a tremendous head coach and just Champs. They have Killian

Embappe who's still one of the top five players in
the world. They have outstanding balance across the team, and
at the end of the day, I'm looking at a
team who's gonna get me a bunch of points in
this draft, and I think France is, maybe alongside of Spain,
has the best chance of getting to the final.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
You know you brought up the coach. All you ever
hear about are the individual players. Who's got the star
player Andrews? How much this coaching matter and who's got
the best coach in the world.
Speaker 6 (07:34):
Well, it's interesting because international soccer can be a lot
different than club soccer, right, because you've only really see
your players every you know, couple of months during these
international windows, so it's not like you're you have a
preseason and you're building up towards things throughout the entire
years here. So that's why I feel like coaching may
kind of get overlooked a little bit. But you have

some big, you know, big name coaches that have been
and uh moved from club soccer to international soccer for
this tournament. I think England's coach is really good. Spain's
coach is definitely up there. Francis coach. I mean he's
this is his third World Cup and he's gone to
the final, as Jackson just said in the first two,
so you can't really argue with his you know record there.

I really like Argentina's coach and that's why Argentina with
number three Homer.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Oh, he's going to Argentina.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
You had to otherwise you were going to have thrown

the family happy. But also it kind of coincides with,
you know, right around who I think is the most
balanced team. They have the goat in Lionel Messi. He's
a little bit older. I don't think this team is
as good as the team that won in twenty twenty two,
but I don't leave they're really that much worse either.

They have basically the same roster, a couple different guys
that actually kind of help improve in other parts of
the area, but just a little bit more aged at
this point, and they're gonna I think, just with the
chemistry that they have built up over these past four
plus years, because it really was the year leading up
to the World Cup in twenty twenty two that kind

of broke them out of their slump. They've just been
firing in all cylinders and won the Copa America in
twenty twenty four. They obviously won the World Cup in
twenty twenty two. They won the Copa America the year
before that as well, so they really know what it
takes in these big tournaments, and I believe they're It's

like I said, they're not as good as I expected
them to be in twenty twenty two, but I don't
believe there's enough of a drop off where and I
just believe them to be the most balanced team. They're
strong in defense, they're strong in midfield, they're strong upfront,
and I really like their coach and their chemistry is
really good. So I'm going Argentina.

a Made Your Soccer tournament, and it's become a running
joke because they never actually do it.

The thing is, this team is not This team is
the best team they've.

Had in a long long time. They have the roster,
they have the talent. They have so many good players
that they had to leave probably the best players home
of any team in the World Cup of talented guys
who aren't even act this tournament. So England is a
great pick the United States. Yes, there's a decent chance

they win their group. There's a decent chance they win
their Round a thirty two game, and they if they
win their group, and if they win the round a
thirty two game, they're facing what could be Belgium here
at Seattle Stadium, not lumen Field on July six.

I think if they can get through and listen, Ashley,

Yeah, so they're probably the best team hasn't won the

I believe Portugal is the best midfield in the entire
World Cup. You got Betina and jo Nevez, who both

anchor the PSG midfield that just won straight champions leagues. Uh.
And then you have Bruno for Ndez who plays for
my favorite club team, Manchester United. He just broke the
Premier League record for most assists in a single season
with twenty one. Those are three of the best midfielders
in the world, all dominating at the right time. I

Yeah, I like to Portugal Spain final. Boy, could you
imagine you imagine that? Yeah, that's two countries going.

because I mean Andrews is right. If if Spain has
the best midfield, Portugal as the second best midfield, that
battle would be epic.

Brazil has the most World Cups of any country. You
know what's interesting?

won the darn thing and Brazil has the most at five.
And I look at Brazil this tournament and are they
the most talented? No, but I think there are superstar

level players at Brazil. And I will say I mentioned
Lamina Mall playing for Spain, nineteen years old. He's kind
of already burst on the scene. He's already a kind
of a global superstar. I think that the Brazil has
what's going to be the breakout star of the tournament.
Endrick nineteen years old. He plays for Olympics and you

look what he's done for for Lyonnais just recently. He's
absolutely on fire right now. He has twelve goal contributions
and in the last sixteen games for them tremendously A
talented striker for Brazil who I think is going to
lead Brazil very deep, at least to a semi final

think I think Endrick is the guy where globally everybody's
going to know.

to be the only powerhouse of soccer last and as
Germany's pretty similar there, there's their baseline is pretty high
for me. I don't think they're gonna win the tournament,
but they can rack up some wins. We saw how
the US.

the best strikers, actually the best striker in the world,
so he can just rack up goals. They don't have
the strongest team all around him, but he can absolutely
carry them to a couple of victories. So I'm taking Norway, all.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Yeah, I think what I'm gonna do is go Japan here. Oh,
a little bit off the board, but Japan came into
the twenty twenty two World Cup and they made kind
of an improbable run. They beat Germany in that World Cup.
They won their group inexplicably. They they even beat Spain

actually as well. And you know, when it comes to time,
you want teams who recently have gone on nice track records,
and they actually lost in penalty kicks to a very
very good Croatia team.

Give me Japan to maybe do something in this tournament.

All right, I've got the last selection and I'm torn
between two feel free to help me break the tai U.

Two experts.

Mexico who seems to always play well. Uh, and then
I I don't know a lot about soccer, but when
I've seen the Ivory Coast play in the in the past,
oh yeah, that's always the most athletic team on the field.

Which one I would go to Mexico because they have
a much better chance of winning their group and getting
you those one points?

And Andres Munios and Margarita.

Yes anders, which one tell me Mexico, right? I think?

I think Ivy Coast is the better team, but I
think the edge goes to Mexico, host country. They love
playing in front of their fans. It's notoriously difficult to
fight in Mexico versus Mexico which I believed would be
almost all of their games. I don't know, kind of
looked at their specific schedule, but yeah, I think it's
a good chance they, you know, at least get to

the knockout stages versus Ivory Coast has a tough group,
but I believe they have the better chance to kind
of go on a deep run.

Well, it would seem that they did give him credit
for taking the second Notre Dame running back off the
board and making some history there in the first round.
This is you know, you're you're taking a guy who
has been lightly used because he had to. He had
the split time with with Love, and Love was the focus,

especially in the final year when he ended up being
third in the Heisman. Jaedarian Price is a quality individual
and and he's going to give you everything he has,
and it seems like it's all in front of him.

Was there a feeling, I mean in South Bend that
if Love went down, which I know shut of the thought,
but if he went down, that how good Jadarian Price
would be just to step right in to that Notre
Dame backfield.
Speaker 9 (22:48):
Well, they would split series or some you know, maybe
the final year was two series for Love and then
Price would come in. But we saw it over and
over the USC game in twenty four, Love was injured,
Price came in, no drop off Notre Dame one Georgia
in the playoff, Love was hurt, lightly used in that game,

Price steps in Notre Dame wins, and you know, just
about any other situation out there, he would have probably
been tempted to go ahead and transfer and be the
feature back. But you know, he's had every team asked
him about it. He's asked about the combine. He had
a perfect answer for that. It wasn't He was afraid

of a spotlight. He knew what he could do, but
he had other visions. And Marcus Reeman has a great
job of keeping people around here for the team goal,
the team glory they talk about, and they thought they
could win a national championship. As it turned out they
they were kept out of the playoffs entirely with the
two early losses. But this is this guy's all that.

Should we look here in Seattle as that lack of
playing time reps carries as a positive or should we
hold a little bit and reserve some concern because we
have not seen him be the main ball carrier for
a football team. Where should we land in Seattle as
(24:24):
somebody that watched the Jadarian Price play throughout his career?
Speaker 9 (24:30):
Well, considering running backs have always had such a short
career and because they take so many hits in the
legs especially, and this is a guy who overcame an
achilles tear before he ever got on the field at
Notre Dame, played in the spring game as an early
enroll league and then off season training in twenty two,
came back, missed his entire freshman year, came back for
(24:52):
twenty three through twenty five. But I wouldn't view that
as as a concern. I think it's a positive, and
surely the Seahawks are viewing it that way because there's
there's more life in the body going forward. He hasn't
taken as many hits. He's had a clean path here
physically since he came back from the Achilles tear. The
(25:14):
two concerns, I'd say, and it brought up, but you
know he can work through it. Is the fact that
you leave college with only fifteen receptions is one of them.
It's not that he was dropping passes. He just wasn't
really the third down back at any point. Part of
that was Blitz pickup. He's gonna have to really sharpen that.
(25:34):
And Thomas Hammock, of all people, the former Northern Illinois
coach who came into Notre Dame and beat Notre Dame,
it's his job to make sure that that part of
his game is where it needs to be, is to
be in every down back. I don't see why he
couldn't become that, but he wasn't asked to do that
very often here in blitz pick up. And then the fumbling,
(25:57):
which nobody wants to be labeled a fumbler. I think
that's another place where they're just gonna have to sharpen
the fundamentals of it whatever was happening, especially down in
the red zone. But there are four examples of the
ball coming up coming loose for Jadarian so so conscientious,
so reliable in every other way, but they were you know,
(26:19):
this happened at inopportune times, and three of those fumbles
were lost. So those are the areas of improvement that
now that he is going to have a chance to
step in for a Super Bowl MVP and maybe be
the guy from day one, that's those areas that need
to improve.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Why do you think he's stuck it out at Notre
Dame behind Jeremiah Love all that time? Why do you
think that he accepted life in the shadow?
Speaker 9 (26:47):
Well, for one thing, it's not that shadowy. He'd come
in and talk to us as much as any other reserve.
Notre Dame has depth, and that's across all position groups,
and so you don't have to be the starter per
se to come in and get a little bit of
attention and get a chance to have some visit with
the media, and the fact that there was enough to
(27:09):
go around they could all eat in that. They're blowing
people out tremendously once the season schedule softened up last year,
so he certainly you know, you look back every eleven
point seven touches ta Darian Price scored a touchdown. Three
of those were the kickoff return game. I don't know
if you guys will need him to do that based
(27:31):
on the roster what we see, but he can do that.
He's explosive in every area. You know, Jeremiah Love as
great as he was eight point four touches per touchdown,
so it's not that different in terms of what they
can do to take it to the house. I don't
think he's afraid of Spilight. Oh he wanted to graduate. Well,
I definitely want to make it get his Notre Dame degree,
(27:52):
which he did complete in the spring going into his
final year, so he had it by spring of twenty five.
But you know, in the offseason portal leading up to that,
he didn't want to hear about it. And you know,
word gets to these guys these days through the intermediaries.
He had an agent, as they all do now, but
which is weird. But he was able to stay because,
(28:16):
like I say, Marcus Freeman, his teammates the goal of
trying to win a national championship. They felt they were
that close. They were one game away against Ohio State
the previous year that team glory. Aspect of the bond
with the teammates, he decided to stay and the legacy
here will live on because he was held up throughout.
(28:36):
We wrote about it while it was happening. This is
the guy, the ultimate teammate, willing not to sit behind
but to share the spotlight with Love, and that made
Love a better pick for the Cardinals, as eventually turned
out a better pro prospect because he wasn't asked to
give every last bit of what he could in his
(28:57):
college years. There were still some in the tank.

But I am gonna go France for almost thinking about
points in this and wanting to win the Green Jacket draft,
because I don't think France is going to win it all.
But I think that based on the last two World
Cups they have gotten They won the final in eighteen,
they got to the final in twenty two. They have
a tremendous head coach and just Champs. They have Killian

Embappe who's still one of the top five players in
the world. They have outstanding balance across the team, and
at the end of the day, I'm looking at a
team who's gonna get me a bunch of points in
this draft, and I think France is, maybe alongside of Spain,
has the best chance of getting to the final.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
You know you brought up the coach. All you ever
hear about are the individual players. Who's got the star
player Andrews? How much this coaching matter and who's got
the best coach in the world.
Speaker 6 (07:34):
Well, it's interesting because international soccer can be a lot
different than club soccer, right, because you've only really see
your players every you know, couple of months during these
international windows, so it's not like you're you have a
preseason and you're building up towards things throughout the entire
years here. So that's why I feel like coaching may
kind of get overlooked a little bit. But you have
(07:56):
some big, you know, big name coaches that have been
and uh moved from club soccer to international soccer for
this tournament. I think England's coach is really good. Spain's
coach is definitely up there. Francis coach. I mean he's
this is his third World Cup and he's gone to
the final, as Jackson just said in the first two,
so you can't really argue with his you know record there.
(08:19):
I really like Argentina's coach and that's why Argentina with
number three Homer.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Oh, he's going to Argentina.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
You had to otherwise you were going to have thrown
at youss the.

but I don't leave they're really that much worse either.

They have basically the same roster, a couple different guys
that actually kind of help improve in other parts of
the area, but just a little bit more aged at
this point, and they're gonna I think, just with the
chemistry that they have built up over these past four
plus years, because it really was the year leading up
to the World Cup in twenty twenty two that kind

of broke them out of their slump. They've just been
firing in all cylinders and won the Copa America in
twenty twenty four. They obviously won the World Cup in
twenty twenty two. They won the Copa America the year
before that as well, so they really know what it
takes in these big tournaments, and I believe they're It's

like I said, they're not as good as I expected
them to be in twenty twenty two, but I don't
believe there's enough of a drop off where and I
just believe them to be the most balanced team. They're
strong in defense, they're strong in midfield, they're strong upfront,
and I really like their coach and their chemistry is
really good. So I'm going Argentina.

you want teams who recently have gone on nice track records,

Yeah. I can't take credit for that. I inherited that name,

Well, did the Seahawks strike gold with Jadarian Price with
their first round draft pick?

Well, it would seem that they did give him credit
for taking the second Notre Dame running back off the
board and making some history there in the first round.
This is you know, you're you're taking a guy who
has been lightly used because he had to. He had
the split time with with Love, and Love was the focus,
(22:20):
especially in the final year when he ended up being
third in the Heisman. Jaedarian Price is a quality individual
and and he's going to give you everything he has,
and it seems like it's all in front of him.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Was there a feeling, I mean in South Bend that
if Love went down, which I know shut of the thought,
but if he went down, that how good Jadarian Price
would be just to step right in to that Notre
Dame backfield.
Speaker 9 (22:48):
Well, they would split series or some you know, maybe
the final year was two series for Love and then
Price would come in. But we saw it over and
over the USC game in twenty four, Love was injured,
Price came in, no drop off Notre Dame one Georgia
in the playoff, Love was hurt, lightly used in that game,

Price steps in Notre Dame wins, and you know, just
about any other situation out there, he would have probably
been tempted to go ahead and transfer and be the
feature back. But you know, he's had every team asked
him about it. He's asked about the combine. He had
a perfect answer for that. It wasn't He was afraid
(23:33):
of a spotlight. He knew what he could do, but
he had other visions. And Marcus Reeman has a great
job of keeping people around here for the team goal,
the team glory they talk about, and they thought they
could win a national championship. As it turned out they
they were kept out of the playoffs entirely with the
two early losses. But this is this guy's all that.

Should we look here in Seattle as that lack of
playing time reps carries as a positive or should we
hold a little bit and reserve some concern because we
have not seen him be the main ball carrier for
a football team. Where should we land in Seattle as
(24:24):
somebody that watched the Jadarian Price play throughout his career?
Speaker 9 (24:30):
Well, considering running backs have always had such a short
career and because they take so many hits in the
legs especially, and this is a guy who overcame an
achilles tear before he ever got on the field at
Notre Dame, played in the spring game as an early
enroll league and then off season training in twenty two,
came back, missed his entire freshman year, came back for
(24:52):
twenty three through twenty five. But I wouldn't view that
as as a concern. I think it's a positive, and
surely the Seahawks are viewing it that way because there's
there's more life in the body going forward. He hasn't
taken as many hits. He's had a clean path here
physically since he came back from the Achilles tear. The
(25:14):
two concerns, I'd say, and it brought up, but you
know he can work through it. Is the fact that
you leave college with only fifteen receptions is one of them.
It's not that he was dropping passes. He just wasn't
really the third down back at any point. Part of
that was Blitz pickup. He's gonna have to really sharpen that.
(25:34):
And Thomas Hammock, of all people, the former Northern Illinois
coach who came into Notre Dame and beat Notre Dame,
it's his job to make sure that that part of
his game is where it needs to be, is to
be in every down back. I don't see why he
couldn't become that, but he wasn't asked to do that
very often here in blitz pick up. And then the fumbling,
(25:57):
which nobody wants to be labeled a fumbler. I think
that's another place where they're just gonna have to sharpen
the fundamentals of it whatever was happening, especially down in
the red zone. But there are four examples of the
ball coming up coming loose for Jadarian so so conscientious,
so reliable in every other way, but they were you know,
(26:19):
this happened at inopportune times, and three of those fumbles
were lost. So those are the areas of improvement that
now that he is going to have a chance to
step in for a Super Bowl MVP and maybe be
the guy from day one, that's those areas that need
to improve.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Why do you think he's stuck it out at Notre
Dame behind Jeremiah Love all that time? Why do you
think that he accepted life in the shadow?
Speaker 9 (26:47):
Well, for one thing, it's not that shadowy. He'd come
in and talk to us as much as any other reserve.
Notre Dame has depth, and that's across all position groups,
and so you don't have to be the starter per
se to come in and get a little bit of
attention and get a chance to have some visit with
the media, and the fact that there was enough to
(27:09):
go around they could all eat in that. They're blowing
people out tremendously once the season schedule softened up last year,
so he certainly you know, you look back every eleven
point seven touches ta Darian Price scored a touchdown. Three
of those were the kickoff return game. I don't know
if you guys will need him to do that based
(27:31):
on the roster what we see, but he can do that.
He's explosive in every area. You know, Jeremiah Love as
great as he was eight point four touches per touchdown,
so it's not that different in terms of what they
can do to take it to the house. I don't
think he's afraid of Spilight. Oh he wanted to graduate. Well,
I definitely want to make it get his Notre Dame degree,
(27:52):
which he did complete in the spring going into his
final year, so he had it by spring of twenty five.
But you know, in the offseason portal leading up to that,
he didn't want to hear about it. And you know,
word gets to these guys these days through the intermediaries.
He had an agent, as they all do now, but
which is weird. But he was able to stay because,
(28:16):
like I say, Marcus Freeman, his teammates the goal of
trying to win a national championship. They felt they were
that close. They were one game away against Ohio State
the previous year that team glory. Aspect of the bond
with the teammates, he decided to stay and the legacy
here will live on because he was held up throughout.
(28:36):
We wrote about it while it was happening. This is
the guy, the ultimate teammate, willing not to sit behind
but to share the spotlight with Love, and that made
Love a better pick for the Cardinals, as eventually turned
out a better pro prospect because he wasn't asked to
give every last bit of what he could in his
(28:57):
college years. There were still some in the tank.
