You know, there are certain things that have been described
with just you know, two words in the history of sports,
the drive by John Elway, the catch by the White
Clark in the back of the end zone.

We introduce you to the challenge because we have finally
reached the pinnacle of what the ABS Challenge system was
meant to provide, and it won us a baseball game
last night.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Yeah I did.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, so can't wait actually to dive into that a
little bit, but I'm not going to start there. I mean,
like I said, there's so much to get in. This
might be the only opportunity we have to talk about
last night's NBA Finals, where the Santa Antonio Spurs made
it a series last night by taking out the New
York Nicks, much to the chagrin of all of those

people that spent their thousands of dollars to watch New
York at Madison Square Garden make history. Tim Shallome, in
his gross colored clothing that he always wears, all showing
up just convinced that they were going to win Game
number three and be able to sweep away the young
(07:27):
San Antonio Spurs, and the Spurs ruined everyone's plans in
New York City with a one fifteen to one to
eleven win.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
And I just have something simple to say about that.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
You got this.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
You can take us in a lot or take us
a lot.
Speaker 5 (08:00):
You got this. It's okay, you can do it.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
I just laughing so hard.

I know it's comical.

It was awesome. It really it was awesome. And you
know what, Look, I mean we do this as a living.

And like I said, baby soft hands, anybody that's worked
talk radio, sports talk radio, I mean it's a it's
a job. You're worn out after a couple of hours
and we do four every day. I mean people don't
believe that, but you get done with the show and
you're kind of exhausted.

And I mean it's not like digging ditches. No, no, no,
don't get me wrong.

I mean, I realize some people have a lot harder jobs,
and most people have harder jobs, but there is something
to being able to do that. And yet, so there
is something to putting your opinion out there, trying to
support it, trying to be perfect with your wording.

That does kind of exhaust you at the end of
the day.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
And yet, boy, I'd really like to see a lot
more effort out of our analysts, and that includes some
of my favorites inside. The NBA is the greatest studio
show ever, But I just wish that we would get
analysis from them sometimes and that the analysis would not
be well, they won because they played harder, and they

lost because they didn't play well.

That's actually not analysis.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
I mean, there is an element too, and I appreciate
Draymond Green being on the set to be able.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
To actually give something of substance.

Yesterday that san Antonio did come out, Shaq was right.
They came out a little more aggressively. They got Wimby
involved earlier in the contest. They took the crowd out
of the game, which might have been very important there
in the first quarter, and so the crowd didn't take
over the game at any point really, and that was
a fevered crowd. I mean, I believe all of the

guys who I like and like to love closer to
love with Ernie and Charles, and closer to like with Kenny.
And so they talked about this might have been the
best environment they've ever seen for a basketball game last night.
Obviously there was a fevered excitement for what was getting

ready to go down. And so that can be intimidating, certainly,
especially for a young franchise, especially one that is down
or a young roster I should say that is down
two to zero in the series and having to enter
that hostile environment. And so credit to Mitch Johnson, Seattle's
own and Wimby a twenty two year old leader, which

Stefan Castle made very.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Clear last night.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
No, he's the leader of our team, twenty two or not,
he's the leader of our team. And they came in
with the right mindset. They attacked New York a little
more physically, and they kind of set the tone for
the game. That said it was a four point contest.
I mean, Mike Brown said after the game last night
as head coach of the Knicks, another guy that I
(10:58):
like and he's obviously done a tremendous job with that
team this year. But he said afterwards, the first thing
he's complaining about the officials, and he said in one
swath and man, if Mitch doesn't use this as bulletin
board material, then I don't know what bulletin board material is.
And it certainly wasn't Mike Brown's intention. Mike Brown's intention
(11:21):
was to set the stage for Game number four so
that he got in the officials ears publicly to tell
them about the free throw deferential. But how it came
out was Mike Brown describing the game like, Okay, first
of all, we played really poorly tonight, and secondly the
Spurs they.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Played really great.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
And yet I got to point out the free throw
disparity in the second half, not even for the game
in the second half, which was not all that outlandish,
and yet I'm.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Going to point out the free throw disparity.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
There's no way in an NBA Finals game I ever
thought that one team for an entire half would shoot
X amount of free throws and another team.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Why amount of free throws?
Speaker 1 (12:09):
And it was a desparity, especially in the second half.
But for the game, you know, the Spurs shot thirty
two free throws and the Nick shot twenty two free throws.
I mean it's not crazy, right, I mean, there's there's
a difference. There's a separation in a four point game.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
Yeah, I can make a difference.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
That makes a difference, certainly.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
But but I don't think anybody that was watching the
game thought to themselves, you know why the Knicks lost
this the officials.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
No, yeah, I didn't think that at all.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
So Mike Brown spits this out, and think about what
he's saying right there. They played great, Right, we played
terrible and the officials were against us, and we still
only lost by four.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
That's how I would take that.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
How insulting is that? Yeah, here's the truth. Neither team
played all that well last night.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
They certainly neither team shot all that well down the stretch,
and yet San Antonio, having built a lead, just showed
a little more composure than what they've shown in the
first two games down the stretch, and that was the difference.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
In the game. They started better and they didn't fall
apart in the fourth quarter, and that's how they.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Won the game. Right, it's nothing tricky to find out
about this. Neither team shot well down the stretch. The
Knicks kept settling for three point field goals. They wouldn't
give the ball to Jalen Brunson. And I don't know
why in the fourth quarter you don't give the ball
to Jalen Brunson every time, because he makes every shot
in the fourth quarter, every fourth quarter, that guy makes
every shot.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
It feels like that he takes. And yet we're going to.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Spread the ball around the court and hoist up twenty
five foot shots that were not making consistently.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
But the Spurs didn't make their three point field goals either.
In the fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (13:58):
I was yelling that why are he's shooting three pointers?
Just go drive to the basket. You're already up.
Speaker 5 (14:03):
You don't need three.

Neither team played a great game last night, but San
Antonio play a little bit better of a game. And
because they built up a lead in the third quarter,
they were able to hold on and they hit some
clutch free throws down the stretch, which is what you
have to do in a game like that. And the

Knicks didn't make their shots coming down the stretch from
anybody else not named Brunson.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
And there's your four point difference.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
Well, San Antonio didn't shoot themselves in the foot like
they did in Game two. I mean, the reason they
lost that game in Game two was because Wemby throws
into the castles back and it's a turnover.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
If they don't do that, they probably win that game.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
And that's the difference. I mean, it was.
Speaker 5 (14:48):
The better care of the ball yesterday.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Who is under the impression that the Spurs aren't any
good all of a sudden, all right, And this is
what we got from our top analysts in the field
last night. One team played really well and the other
team played poorly. No, that's not true at all. That's
bad analysis. Neither team played their a game, and the
Spurs played a little bit better. And because they took

the crowd out of the game early, credit to them.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
They played more aggressive.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
They learned their lessons from games one and two, so
they weren't the pushover that they've been in the fourth
quarter of the last couple of games. And they won
the game. And they could very easily win game number
four too. You want to know why, Because they're more talented.
The Knicks are playing better basketball right now, better team basketball,
and I think that they've earned the right to be

called the favorites going the rest of the way. But
we spent six months saying how much more talented the
Spurs are than the Knicks during the regular season, and
now all of a sudden, there's a mismatch. The only
way the Spurs can win is if the Knicks played
terrible and they played great. That is nonsense, That is foolish. Oh,
I'm more fired up for Mitch Johnson in the Gang

than ever before. Man, do I want them to win
both these games in New York and then finish this
thing off in.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
Six Which is funny because I went into the series saying, like, okay,
all that the job was done, Oklahoma City's out.
Speaker 5 (16:14):
I don't care who wins. I just want a great series.
Speaker 6 (16:16):
And I was the same way last night, like cheering
so hard for the Spurs, and I was so disappointed
when they lost in Game two, and I just was like,
how is it that, all of a sudden, I'm so
you know, adamantly you know, and vehemently cheering for San Antonio,
a team.

That I don't care about normally.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
Well, New York pumpacity is what that is. And for
them to think it was over and everybody to show
up like it was time to celebrate the championship in
Game number three. For everyone to have written off the
San Antonio Spurs, I find silly. I had to hear
a conversation about that yesterday May yesterday on the drive end.

No chance, Yeah, they have.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
No chance to come back, Like what are.
Speaker 2 (16:57):

Number one, don't ever speak in absolutes about sports or
pretty much anything else.

That's a fool who speaks in absolutes.

And secondly, have you forgotten the analysis of the last
four or five months of the basketball season. I mean,
the Spurs have the best player. Jalen Brunson's an assassin.
I love that guy, but he can't do what Wimby
does on both ms on the floor, and usually the
team with the best player wins the series. Now, he

plays poorly and Jalen Brunson plays phenomenally tight turns, and
the Knicks can certainly win this, and the Knicks probably
are going to win this with their two to one
edge over a young franchise that doesn't yet know how
to finish. But anybody that is surprised that the San
Antonio Spurs pulled out a win last night, I find
(17:50):
that comical. Because we just spent four months talking about
how much that this is a whoever comes out of
the West is going to win the NBA Finals.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
The Knicks got hot at the right time.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
I give them all the credit in the world, and
like I said, I think they probably are still going
to hold on and win this championship.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
And I got no problem with that.

But I do have problem with analysis at the end
of a four point game in Game three of the
NBA Finals, when one team that wins is more talented
than the other, and the analysis is the only way
that happened is that the Knicks played crappy and the
Spurs played great. Neither of those things are true. The
Knicks played okay and the Spurs played a little bit
better than okay.

And that's usually what happens in a four point.
Speaker 6 (18:32):
Deficit, right I was gonna say, if one team played
great and the other played crappy, it's going to be
a blowout.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
That's usually how that works.

And it is interesting because with this, you know, with
everybody saying that the West that the Western Conference Finals
was the was the NBA Finals and that was the
real matchup, and then it was like, well, wait a minute,
here's this team that hasn't lost and they're great, and
everybody kind of was not discounting the Knicks but any means.
But I was listening to someone the other day or
(18:58):
yesterday say, well, they there's no way that you know,
all of a sudden, everybody's forgotten about the Knicks, and
now you know that they don't have a chance. Look,
they're up two games to none. They've got this and
and it, and we're forgetting that the Eastern Conference is good? Well,
what about the argument that the Knicks kind of rolled
over everyone and that's why that they got so much rest,
(19:19):
because the Eastern Conference wasn't as good and the Western
Conference had the battle, and that's why the Spurs might
have been a little tired in game one and they
might have been a little out of sorts. And so
I'm excited to see what happens now that the Spurs
are back in a rhythm.

best actual hockey that they've seen in the Stanley Cup

Final in quite some time. Well, Carolina and Vegas will
do it again tonight, game number four. They'll drop the
puck at five o'clock. It's in Vegas, with Vegas up
to games to one. It's World Cup week, so that's
something that we're going to celebrate. We're just one sleep
away from the first World Cup game of World Cup season,

and we are going to celebrate that with a round
of sup with you a little bit later on in
the show. Today, seahawks s mandatory Mini Camp gets started today.
We are dealing with our Seahawks one series again today
and throughout the month of June, one analyst breaking down
one key Seahawk player for one entire interview. For whatever reason,

that should be studied by science, wants to be on

the injury list, and if that wasn't bad enough, then

we found out right before the game Colt Emerson strained
his back taking grounders, and so we were down two
shortstops yesterday, had to activate Ryan Bliss and move Cole
Young over to shortstop to play for the game. I
don't know how serious Colt Emerson's back injury is, but

So yeah, all that kind of snuck up on us,

and yet the team still found a way to win

who pitches a terrific sixth very clean sixth inning. Then
you send them back out for the seventh. I guess
because our bullpen, which has thrown fewer innings than any
bullpen in the American League, is that thin starting a
four game series, which is a little concerning. And so
Cooper Chriswell goes back out for the seventh gets into

a little true Matt Brash comes into the game, and
Matt Brash was not loose. He was not ready to
pitch last night because a guy with a point five
four ERA wasn't anywhere close to the strike zone. He

He was all over the place, but he did start

is their most dangerous home run hitter, if nothing else.
And Matt Brash is struggling to find his control and

What could it add to the sport there it was
for you, I mean Alonso's ejection. He could not believe

that that caught the top of the zone. Pareda, who
has been struggling mightily with challenges while Mitch Garver's maybe
the best in the world at it. And yet we're
playing Parada every day, and Parade had already blown one
call a little bit earlier in the game, so we
were down to one precious challenge, and thank goodness, Randy
Rose Arena didn't challenge something in the first inning on

an account that was right down the middle.

Because he's got a penchant for doing that. But Pareda,
and he did it pretty quickly.

I don't know if it was immediately, but he's like,

why you have to factor situation into all challenge attempts.

end up giving up this inning. I gotta take a challenge,
I got I gotta take a chance right here and
challenge this call. And sure enough, it clips that top
edge of the strike zone of Pete Alonso's own personal
strike zone, and you strike him out rather than walk
in or run and keep the inning going.

I mean point yeah, it couldn't have been any closer.

It was such a smart move by Parada to do,
because yeah, that is exactly why you have those And
if he didn't get it, okay, no one's gonna be mad.
He used the challenge on that because that was the
exact right situation to use it.

Well, it was the perfect situation.

It was the biggest challenge I think of the season,
and maybe of the entire Major League Baseball season because
the difference between the two and they still had another
at batter that ending Colden Cowser ended up grounding out
to second base. But what happens to Brash if he
walks that guy and still hasn't been able to find
the strike zone at this point, and now there's only

one out a run in and the bases are still loaded,
versus two outs, still five to two and the bases loaded.

Brash said after the game that it was the turning point,
and I'm saying no, but it kept it from being
the turning point. Parada kept it from being the turning
point because we were already up. I think it was
the most important play of the game. Josh Naylor had
a grand slam, and to me, the most important play
of the game was that challenge right there.

Yeah, because even with Josh Naylor's grand slam, they were
mounting something and they were ready to take the lead back,
and that was it was.

don't have a lot of time to discuss this here today,
And believe me, you could do four hours on this
topic alone. Brendan Soresby looks like he's going to get
a slap on the wrist for doing the thing that
throughout sports history has been described as the thing you

cannot do. Now they enforce it better in other sports.
But now that we're in this new world of college athletics,
where we talked about for a while that we're going
to go through this period of martial law before we
start getting our arms around it and before it can
get governed. And yet I don't think that people foresaw
(33:43):
this where a judge in Texas would make a ruling
that would set precedent for all other athletes going forward.
That is an essence saying, hey, you shouldn't gamble on
your own football team. But the only punishment for that
is a slap on the risk, because we need to
(34:05):
think about your mental state of well being and if
you're an addict, we got to make room for that
in college athletics. So anyway you can play. And it
has caused a lot of athletic directors head coaches across
the country to become very vocal and by the way,
where have you been about this very subject? And they
(34:28):
have gone, I mean they're going to great lengths heare, Ashley.
They're saying this is the this is the beginning of
the end, yeah, or this is the end of the end.
They're saying that No, Sunny Dyke said yesterday, is the
head coach of a major program within the same conference
as Texas Tech said that basically sports fans college football
(34:48):
fans can no longer trust a result going forward.

Wow, I mean, and I can understand it, because it's
one thing.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
If you're betting on sports, you are not playing right,
But not only are you you're not supposed to bet
on the sport you're playing. You are not if you
are a college football player, you cannot bet on college football.
You absolutely cannot bet on your own team, whether it's
a you're betting on them to win or to lose,
whether you're playing in the game or not.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
You have more information than everybody else.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Well, it's definitely an indication to me that you've got
to speed forth. I mean, why are we sitting here
waiting around on the NCAA again and for the first time,
and I don't know how long we were rooting for
the nca I know to win a ruling, but why
are we waiting around? They obviously are very impotent in
their ruling. This thing has to be recognized as professional
(35:39):
football at this stage. We have to have a collective
bargaining agreement and we have to even if the court
system is going to allow for someone to bet on
football games, that they're involved in. A league can write
up stuff Like baseball, they have their own rules, like
the court system can say what they want. Our rules
(36:01):
are you can't do it in our sport, and if
you do it, you're gone, right, and there's no argument
over it. And every baseball player today knows it. It's
in every clubhouse, minor leagues, major leagues, spring training clubhouses.
They know that's the golden rule, and nobody can break that.
Otherwise you are gone and college football is just gonna
(36:22):
have to get there. They can supersede that ruling one way,
and that is by creating a professionals football league and
creating a collective bargaining agreement where the players sign off
on we do not allow players to bet, and then
they can be kicked out of college football.

Right, And that's how it should be. I mean, it shouldn't.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
This isn't a Oh gosh, let's see, how's this going
to affect other people?

I feel bad for Brendan Soorsby. Okay, feel bad for
Brendan Soorsby. He made a mistake, he broke the rules.

York Nicks, much to the chagrin of all of those

people that spent their thousands of dollars to watch New
York at Madison Square Garden make history. Tim Shallome, in
his gross colored clothing that he always wears, all showing
up just convinced that they were going to win Game
number three and be able to sweep away the young

San Antonio Spurs, and the Spurs ruined everyone's plans in
New York City with a one fifteen to one to
eleven win.

And I just have something simple to say about that.

And yet, boy, I'd really like to see a lot
more effort out of our analysts, and that includes some
of my favorites inside. The NBA is the greatest studio
show ever, But I just wish that we would get
analysis from them sometimes and that the analysis would not
be well, they won because they played harder, and they

lost because they didn't play well.

I mean, there is an element too, and I appreciate
Draymond Green being on the set to be able.

Yesterday that san Antonio did come out, Shaq was right.
They came out a little more aggressively. They got Wimby
involved earlier in the contest. They took the crowd out
of the game, which might have been very important there
in the first quarter, and so the crowd didn't take
over the game at any point really, and that was
a fevered crowd. I mean, I believe all of the

guys who I like and like to love closer to
love with Ernie and Charles, and closer to like with Kenny.
And so they talked about this might have been the
best environment they've ever seen for a basketball game last night.
Obviously there was a fevered excitement for what was getting

ready to go down. And so that can be intimidating, certainly,
especially for a young franchise, especially one that is down
or a young roster I should say that is down
two to zero in the series and having to enter
that hostile environment. And so credit to Mitch Johnson, Seattle's
own and Wimby a twenty two year old leader, which

Stefan Castle made very.

Clear last night.

No, he's the leader of our team, twenty two or not,
he's the leader of our team. And they came in
with the right mindset. They attacked New York a little
more physically, and they kind of set the tone for
the game. That said it was a four point contest.
I mean, Mike Brown said after the game last night
as head coach of the Knicks, another guy that I

like and he's obviously done a tremendous job with that
team this year. But he said afterwards, the first thing
he's complaining about the officials, and he said in one
swath and man, if Mitch doesn't use this as bulletin
board material, then I don't know what bulletin board material is.
And it certainly wasn't Mike Brown's intention. Mike Brown's intention

was to set the stage for Game number four so
that he got in the officials ears publicly to tell
them about the free throw deferential. But how it came
out was Mike Brown describing the game like, Okay, first
of all, we played really poorly tonight, and secondly the
Spurs they.

And yet I got to point out the free throw
disparity in the second half, not even for the game
in the second half, which was not all that outlandish,
and yet I'm.

There's no way in an NBA Finals game I ever
thought that one team for an entire half would shoot
X amount of free throws and another team.

And it was a desparity, especially in the second half.
But for the game, you know, the Spurs shot thirty
two free throws and the Nick shot twenty two free throws.
I mean it's not crazy, right, I mean, there's there's
a difference. There's a separation in a four point game.

That makes a difference, certainly.

But but I don't think anybody that was watching the
game thought to themselves, you know why the Knicks lost
this the officials.

No, yeah, I didn't think that at all.

So Mike Brown spits this out, and think about what
he's saying right there. They played great, Right, we played
terrible and the officials were against us, and we still
only lost by four.

That's how I would take that.

How insulting is that? Yeah, here's the truth. Neither team
played all that well last night.

They certainly neither team shot all that well down the stretch,
and yet San Antonio, having built a lead, just showed
a little more composure than what they've shown in the
first two games down the stretch, and that was the difference.

In the game. They started better and they didn't fall
apart in the fourth quarter, and that's how they.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Won the game. Right, it's nothing tricky to find out
about this. Neither team shot well down the stretch. The
Knicks kept settling for three point field goals. They wouldn't
give the ball to Jalen Brunson. And I don't know
why in the fourth quarter you don't give the ball
to Jalen Brunson every time, because he makes every shot
in the fourth quarter, every fourth quarter, that guy makes
every shot.

It feels like that he takes. And yet we're going to.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Spread the ball around the court and hoist up twenty
five foot shots that were not making consistently.

But the Spurs didn't make their three point field goals either.
In the fourth quarter.

I was yelling that why are he's shooting three pointers?
Just go drive to the basket. You're already up.

You don't need three.

Neither team played a great game last night, but San
Antonio play a little bit better of a game. And
because they built up a lead in the third quarter,
they were able to hold on and they hit some
clutch free throws down the stretch, which is what you
have to do in a game like that. And the

Knicks didn't make their shots coming down the stretch from
anybody else not named Brunson.

And there's your four point difference.

Well, San Antonio didn't shoot themselves in the foot like
they did in Game two. I mean, the reason they
lost that game in Game two was because Wemby throws
into the castles back and it's a turnover.

If they don't do that, they probably win that game.

And that's the difference. I mean, it was.

The better care of the ball yesterday.

Who is under the impression that the Spurs aren't any
good all of a sudden, all right, And this is
what we got from our top analysts in the field
last night. One team played really well and the other
team played poorly. No, that's not true at all. That's
bad analysis. Neither team played their a game, and the
Spurs played a little bit better. And because they took

the crowd out of the game early, credit to them.

They played more aggressive.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
They learned their lessons from games one and two, so
they weren't the pushover that they've been in the fourth
quarter of the last couple of games. And they won
the game. And they could very easily win game number
four too. You want to know why, Because they're more talented.
The Knicks are playing better basketball right now, better team basketball,
and I think that they've earned the right to be

called the favorites going the rest of the way. But
we spent six months saying how much more talented the
Spurs are than the Knicks during the regular season, and
now all of a sudden, there's a mismatch. The only
way the Spurs can win is if the Knicks played
terrible and they played great. That is nonsense, That is foolish. Oh,
I'm more fired up for Mitch Johnson in the Gang

than ever before. Man, do I want them to win
both these games in New York and then finish this
thing off in.

Six Which is funny because I went into the series saying, like, okay,
all that the job was done, Oklahoma City's out.

I don't care who wins. I just want a great series.

And I was the same way last night, like cheering
so hard for the Spurs, and I was so disappointed
when they lost in Game two, and I just was like,
how is it that, all of a sudden, I'm so
you know, adamantly you know, and vehemently cheering for San Antonio,
a team.

That I don't care about normally.

Well, New York pumpacity is what that is. And for
them to think it was over and everybody to show
up like it was time to celebrate the championship in
Game number three. For everyone to have written off the
San Antonio Spurs, I find silly. I had to hear
a conversation about that yesterday May yesterday on the drive end.

No chance, Yeah, they have.

No chance to come back, Like what are.

Number one, don't ever speak in absolutes about sports or
pretty much anything else.

And secondly, have you forgotten the analysis of the last
four or five months of the basketball season. I mean,
the Spurs have the best player. Jalen Brunson's an assassin.
I love that guy, but he can't do what Wimby
does on both ms on the floor, and usually the
team with the best player wins the series. Now, he

plays poorly and Jalen Brunson plays phenomenally tight turns, and
the Knicks can certainly win this, and the Knicks probably
are going to win this with their two to one
edge over a young franchise that doesn't yet know how
to finish. But anybody that is surprised that the San
Antonio Spurs pulled out a win last night, I find

that comical. Because we just spent four months talking about
how much that this is a whoever comes out of
the West is going to win the NBA Finals.

The Knicks got hot at the right time.

I give them all the credit in the world, and
like I said, I think they probably are still going
to hold on and win this championship.

And I got no problem with that.

But I do have problem with analysis at the end
of a four point game in Game three of the
NBA Finals, when one team that wins is more talented
than the other, and the analysis is the only way
that happened is that the Knicks played crappy and the
Spurs played great. Neither of those things are true. The
Knicks played okay and the Spurs played a little bit
better than okay.

And that's usually what happens in a four point.

Deficit, right I was gonna say, if one team played
great and the other played crappy, it's going to be
a blowout.

That's usually how that works.

And it is interesting because with this, you know, with
everybody saying that the West that the Western Conference Finals
was the was the NBA Finals and that was the
real matchup, and then it was like, well, wait a minute,
here's this team that hasn't lost and they're great, and
everybody kind of was not discounting the Knicks but any means.
But I was listening to someone the other day or

yesterday say, well, they there's no way that you know,
all of a sudden, everybody's forgotten about the Knicks, and
now you know that they don't have a chance. Look,
they're up two games to none. They've got this and
and it, and we're forgetting that the Eastern Conference is good? Well,
what about the argument that the Knicks kind of rolled
over everyone and that's why that they got so much rest,

because the Eastern Conference wasn't as good and the Western
Conference had the battle, and that's why the Spurs might
have been a little tired in game one and they
might have been a little out of sorts. And so
I'm excited to see what happens now that the Spurs
are back in a rhythm.

a little true Matt Brash comes into the game, and
Matt Brash was not loose. He was not ready to
pitch last night because a guy with a point five
four ERA wasn't anywhere close to the strike zone. He
hits a ward with a pitch, he walks Gunner Henderson,

so he's not putting out the fire. That's for sure,
and then Pete Alonso comes to the plate and again
it was just an erratic at bat for Matt Brash.
He was all over the place, but he did start
to mix in a few strikes. He got the count full.
The score at that point was five to two. Pete

Alonso is at the plate with the bases loaded. He
is their most dangerous home run hitter, if nothing else.
And Matt Brash is struggling to find his control and
then this happens.

It was such a smart move by Parada to do,

It was the biggest challenge I think of the season,
and maybe of the entire Major League Baseball season because
the difference between the two and they still had another
at batter that ending Colden Cowser ended up grounding out
to second base. But what happens to Brash if he
walks that guy and still hasn't been able to find
the strike zone at this point, and now there's only

one out a run in and the bases are still loaded,
versus two outs, still five to two and the bases loaded.

Just a world of difference.

Brash said after the game that it was the turning point,
and I'm saying no, but it kept it from being
the turning point. Parada kept it from being the turning
point because we were already up. I think it was
the most important play of the game. Josh Naylor had
a grand slam, and to me, the most important play
of the game was that challenge right there.

Yeah, because even with Josh Naylor's grand slam, they were
mounting something and they were ready to take the lead back,
and that was it was.

I wrote, I was like, this is so stressful.

I don't remember a Mariner's game where I'd been that
stressed with that big of a lead.

Well, that's because Brash wasn't anywhere to the strike zone,

But Josh Naylor also played a huge role, played a
really good game last night two for four, two runs,
scored that Grand Slam home run, and he was He's
always in the mix of everything here he is.

And believe me, you could do four hours on this
topic alone. Brendan Soresby looks like he's going to get
a slap on the wrist for doing the thing that
throughout sports history has been described as the thing you

cannot do. Now they enforce it better in other sports.
But now that we're in this new world of college athletics,
where we talked about for a while that we're going
to go through this period of martial law before we
start getting our arms around it and before it can
get governed. And yet I don't think that people foresaw
(33:43):
this where a judge in Texas would make a ruling
that would set precedent for all other athletes going forward.
That is an essence saying, hey, you shouldn't gamble on
your own football team. But the only punishment for that
is a slap on the risk, because we need to
(34:05):
think about your mental state of well being and if
you're an addict, we got to make room for that
in college athletics. So anyway you can play. And it
has caused a lot of athletic directors head coaches across
the country to become very vocal and by the way,
where have you been about this very subject? And they
(34:28):
have gone, I mean they're going to great lengths heare, Ashley.
They're saying this is the this is the beginning of
the end, yeah, or this is the end of the end.
They're saying that No, Sunny Dyke said yesterday, is the
head coach of a major program within the same conference
as Texas Tech said that basically sports fans college football
(34:48):
fans can no longer trust a result going forward.
Speaker 5 (34:51):
Wow, I mean, and I can understand it, because it's
one thing.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
If you're betting on sports, you are not playing right,
But not only are you you're not supposed to bet
on the sport you're playing. You are not if you
are a college football player, you cannot bet on college football.
You absolutely cannot bet on your own team, whether it's
a you're betting on them to win or to lose,
whether you're playing in the game or not.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
You have more information than everybody else.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Well, it's definitely an indication to me that you've got
to speed forth. I mean, why are we sitting here
waiting around on the NCAA again and for the first time,
and I don't know how long we were rooting for
the nca I know to win a ruling, but why
are we waiting around? They obviously are very impotent in
their ruling. This thing has to be recognized as professional
(35:39):
football at this stage. We have to have a collective
bargaining agreement and we have to even if the court
system is going to allow for someone to bet on
football games, that they're involved in. A league can write
up stuff Like baseball, they have their own rules, like
the court system can say what they want. Our rules
(36:01):
are you can't do it in our sport, and if
you do it, you're gone, right, and there's no argument
over it. And every baseball player today knows it. It's
in every clubhouse, minor leagues, major leagues, spring training clubhouses.
They know that's the golden rule, and nobody can break that.
Otherwise you are gone and college football is just gonna
(36:22):
have to get there. They can supersede that ruling one way,
and that is by creating a professionals football league and
creating a collective bargaining agreement where the players sign off
on we do not allow players to bet, and then
they can be kicked out of college football.

Right, And that's how it should be. I mean, it shouldn't.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
This isn't a Oh gosh, let's see, how's this going
to affect other people?

I feel bad for Brendan Soorsby. Okay, feel bad for
Brendan Soorsby. He made a mistake, he broke the rules.
