Yes, Dan Wilson is still employed. We agree, he IS a good guy and the players really do like him, but is that enough? Because it doesn’t seem like that’s enough to get this team to perform well. :30- The Seahawks are too good to be bringing in guys facing legal issues or any sort of baggage. Yes, Terrion Arnold is talented and he could be innocent, but the Seahawks aren’t desperate enough to be bringing in people with questionable character. :45- The Boeing Classic starts on Friday and watching golf is fun!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Chaos.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Let the games begin, and now.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Coffee broadcasting live from the City of Champions.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Now World Champions Crystal Clear.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
FM Stereo, New Stereomonic sound spectacular. All right stuff.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
The next four hours are brought to you by the
Juliana Frasort Casino Hotel.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Now we're not a long time for the action never stopped?
Are you writing this style? Something completed? This is Chuck
in the Morning.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
You people are beyond.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Let's go, let's get the game off.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Hey, good to be what do you? Good morning, great morning.
It is a Tuesday and we are going to rock
the chasma today. It is Chuck Powell. That is Ashley Ryan.
You're at six a m.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I know it's early. I know your plans they did
not include me.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
But here we go four hours together where we will
spoon and talk sports and feed each other dippin' dots.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Welcome to the radio show.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
It is Chuck in the Mornings, and we get things
back here in the studio here today.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Good to see Ashley Ryan.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
Nice to see you as well. I mean, it does
get tiring staring at a black box.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
It gets tiring staring at a field of grass.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
It really does like you you're out in nature and
there's other people. No, there's not, but like you see people. Yeah,
because you see the guy that's mowing the lawn, and
you see the coach that's walking around.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
You see something doing that's something to envy. Is the
annoying ass people mowing the lawn in front of.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
You see other humans. That's my only point.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
I don't Uh, yeah, well, I'm glad to be back.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Maybe you'd like to be out there, maybe we should
have switched, but I'm glad to be back in the studio.
It's wonderful to be with you here on this Tuesday morning.
And uh and yeah, I'm kind of going through this
like transition. I've grown my beard out to the point
where I kind of always admired that that guy that
had the that just went for the really cool sculpted

(02:15):
silver beard. Okay, and I let's face it, that's my
only color option at this point and for the.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Rest of my life. But I think it does look cool.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
And I've always like stopped short because it starts getting
raggedy and then I like, just I'm gonna shave it off.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I don't want it to look raggedy. I don't want
to look homeless.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
The idea behind this was to look cooler, and now
now I just look like, you know, look like I'm
asking for a sandwich outside the you know, the bus station.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
And so I got it to the point where I
think it's on the verge of being what I needed
to be.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
But I gotta put like stuff in it.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Oh yeah, if anyone who has a sculpted beard, they
put stuff in it, you got to put stuff in it, yep.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
And I don't know what kind of stuff to put
in it.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
And I also have to battle the fact that I
live with a weirdo and like any kind of like aroma,
synthetic aroma, or scent she's allergic to. So I got
that facing me. So I don't know, I don't know.
Maybe I'll just maybe there's a well in the backyard
somewhere in Woodenville that like springs forth beard sculpting juice.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
Fairly certain that's exactly how it works, like a geyser.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Like I just gotta, I gotta. I guess you know what,
Now that I talked.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Through this and I appreciate it, I'm gonna have to
dig in every backyard in Woodenville.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
I mean, might as well start somewhere, start at start,
find like a really nice fancy house and dig in
their backyard first until.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
An organic natural gel geyser springs forth and someone's backyard
that I can use to sculpt my new raggedy beard.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
That's the only way that any silver fox sculpts his beard.
No one goes to the storm buys gel these days, right.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Right right, yeah, you know, And I don't even it's
interesting you bring up that term.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I don't even. It's not even about looking foxy, it
really isn't. I'm way past that. It's more of just like,
could I grow one of those beards that are kind
of cool? And I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
So here I am, you know, kind of usually on
the at the point where I shave it off, And
that's kind of where I'm wearing the hat YouTube, because
when you have the raggedy and then you don't have
the when you're you know, when you're not perfectly shorn
on top, the hat sort of balances it out.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Otherwise. I love raggedy raggedy.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Oh and we can't have that. I'm always love to call.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
You Andy, yeah, double raggedy.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Yeah, Well, good to have you with us, So welcome
into the show. As we start four hours together here
on this Tuesday, we will tell you what's on tap
for our Tuesday show coming up here.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
In a little bit.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
But as we begin a brand new program, well we
still have the same manager. Our major League Baseball team
has not made a change at the managerial.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Position, not that I expected them to.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
I really didn't think they would use their day off
to make that change, even though I've been calling for
it for a number of weeks. And so we go
to New York to take on the Yankees starting tonight.
I'm sure they're already there, and then Houston in the
biggest series of the season to this point, and then

(05:33):
they close it out against Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So this is the toughest.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Road trip of the entire season, and certainly to date,
the most important road trip of the entire season. And
they haven't exactly played well on the road. So can
they find a gel geyser somewhat.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Fingers crossing it a jel geyser.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Somewhere between there and New York? Will they dig in
every backyard in the Bronx to try to find a
el geiser because this team needs to gel and Dan
Wilson's been unable to get that done.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
So here we go.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
We get ready for the stretch run facing a major deficit.
Both the Rangers and the Astros won again last night,
and Dan Wilson is the guy that's going to be
charged with pulling this team together and getting them to
play good baseball for the first time this season.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
So that's what we're up against starting tonight.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Ryan Devish wrote a recent article, and Ryan does a
great job about Dan Wilson and how they're going to
stick it out through the end of the season and
then maybe assess things at the end of the season,
and some of the things that were pointed out about
why they would keep him. There was some suggestion that
they just can't do that to a legend, and that

(06:51):
of course rubs a lot of Mariners fans the wrong way.
Then why did you hire a legend in the first
place if that was going to handcuff you.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
You do this all the time as an organization.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Valid Another argument was, and this is one I've made
on behalf of Dan Wilson, the players really like him.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
They really do. And I've said this all along. Players
really like him.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
And this goes well beyond well before I should say
he ever became the manager, when he was just an
advisor and showed up at every spring training. There was
a real kinship and it's one of the reasons that
he got hired. And that you know that that steady
Dan Wilson that irritates us because he never seems to

(07:32):
get hot or tempered or anything of that nature. That
works well apparently with this group of players. But from
what standpoint, I would argue, it works well to remain likable.
That doesn't mean it works well to get the most
out of the players.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
And I heard Logan say that he'd like to challenge
anyone that thought Dan Wilson should be fired, and Logan
as one of the nicest human beings you'll ever meet.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
So I would challenge Logan that.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
I am one of those guys that once your friend
removed from his managerial position, because he should not be
your friend, he is your boss. And I don't think
Logan Gilbert needs that extra kick in the pants. As
nice as he is, as waltery as he is, there

(08:29):
is an engine that runs hot every time Logan Gilbert
takes the mound, and that's what we're looking for. He
doesn't need it. He doesn't need the extra kick in the.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Pants some guys do.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
And if your entire reason for being kept in your
job as everybody likes you, I don't think that that's effective,
not in this role, and certainly hasn't been this season,
And so what you might view as a positive might
very well be the thing that's dragged this team down.

(09:02):
Where is the manager that isn't everybody's friend? I get it,
he protects everybody in his postgame press conferences, and that's
fine too, they're boring.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Who cares?

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Who cares if we don't have good sound bites to
play for you after every Mariner game? Who cares if
the manager's not sharing how he really feels about certain
players performances or efforts from the day before. Fans don't
really need to know how Dan Wilson feels about that
as long as it's happening behind the scenes, as long

(09:34):
as behind the scenes not every game is Hey.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
You know what you guys, gave it your best. That
was a tough one.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh if he walks into the locker room, another tough
one tonight, guys.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, we'll get him tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Hey, wait to fight till the end?

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Yeah, as long as that's and I have no idea,
And frankly, even the guys that cover the beat don't
really know exactly how frustration anger is community catered.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
To the players on the roster.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
But I'll say I will say that spoke volumes to me.
I mean, Logan's sitting there trying to defend his manager.
We'd have a real problem if that happened. He's trying
to defend his manager, and sounds like a lot of
guys are on that front. But the words you used
don't suggest to me that you have the right relationship.

(10:23):
You have a good relationship that that much is clear,
and that can go a long way until your being
until you're taking it for granted, I don't think that's
the right relationship between a manager and a group of players.
Is that everybody has your back because he never comes
down hard on you.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
Well yeah, and talking about how he would come to
help out before he got the managerial job and they
all loved him. Well, that's that's perfect for that, m
that's where you want him. Yes, yeah, ah, look, guys,
Dan's here. This is so great. Oh hey buddy, how
you been missed?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
You Like?

Speaker 2 (10:58):
That's great?

Speaker 4 (11:00):
Was just driving me up a wall, Dan, and then
Dan talks you down from the lest exactly.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
And he's your pal, your friend, your confident.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Yeah, you can go to him and say like, hey,
when you played and you had this, that's a great thing.
But as far as the manager goes, I mean, I
just keep thinking about Logan saying, you know, I I'd
be really mad or I'd have a you know, I'd
have a problem with anyone that wanted him to lose
his job.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Quote he's a really good guy. Yes, that's what he said.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Yes, and he is a really good guy. No one's
disputing the there is.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
But my my thing that I keep thinking over and
over and.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Over marry my aunt.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Yes, who wouldn't if well, his wife might not.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
But my my question is like I lost my I'm sorry,
you're good.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
No, No, it was just I don't remember what I
was gonna say.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
I threw you off.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
It was really fine. I just was thinking, like, ill come,
it'll come back, all right.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Well I got plenty to say, so you think of it,
you come back around. But yes, and then there's the
other aspect, and there is something too, like for example,
I'll give you an example, Philadelphia Phillies thought Rob Thompson
was a really good guy, and Rob Thompson at one
point saved the Philadelphia Phillies earlier in their franchise history.

(12:19):
For whatever reason, Joe Girardi was rubbing the players the
wrong way, and so they went with Rob Thompson, who
everybody liked, and that change stimulated something in them. I
think Dan taking over for Scott, who was not really
liked in the locker room by a lot of the guys.

(12:40):
He had his guys, but there are a lot of
guys that weren't his guys. But just that simple change
over shook something up. It's not that Dan came in
and pressed all the right buttons x'es and o's. It's
not that Dan came in and had a secret recipe
for winning. No, it was a change. It altered things.
It shook people up. We got someone fired for how
bad we were playing, and a.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Lot of us on us and he's had our back
a lot, because Scott Servis had their back a lot.
And now we have to.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
Confront the fact that somebody got fired because we weren't
playing well enough. And lo and behold a different voice,
a little shake up. They almost rallied and made it
to the playoffs. And frankly, I think back to that
year and we were talking about maybe Scott Servis should
be let go prior to that, And had he been
let go prior to August twenty second and you missed

(13:32):
by one game, maybe you do make the playoffs. Maybe
that new voice would have kicked this team into higher gear.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Earlier in the year.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Well, the Philadelphia Affilies did that same thing and it
worked like a charm with Rob Thompson until this year
when it wasn't working and they needed a new voice.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
And Don Mattingly.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Doesn't have a sterling history as one of the great
managers of all time, one of the great first basemen
of all time, but not one of the great managers
of all time, but he certainly is carries respect in
the sport.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
So Don Mattingly takes over and what happens. They immediately
started winning.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
And for those that argue Dan Wilson's a puppet and
he has to use analytics, and if he didn't have
to use analytics so much, he could manage the game
without consequence.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
He could just do what he wants to do. As
an old school guy.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
The Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Fellies fired their managers,
same front office, same players, and same use of analytics.
They didn't change their use of analytics. And I'm gonna
tell you this, there's no way that if you fired
Jerry Depoto and Justin Hollander, that you're not gonna hire
people who are really heavy into analytics.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Give it up, give.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Up the ghost. That's not gonna happen. And it's not
what's keeping Dan Wilson from being a good manager. You
have to use the numbers in today's game. The Red
Sox kept using the numbers in this kept using those
same numbers. They turned their season around because there was.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
A different voice.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
And I don't I'm not sitting you're telling you that
it's one hundred percent fool proof that's going to happen.
But I am giving you two examples of why it
did turn around, two examples of managers that did turn
things around. And I'm not even sure Don Mattingley's a
better manager than Rob Thompson. I'm not sure that Tracy
in Boston's a better manager than Alex Cora.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
But it shook them up. Yeah, it gave them a
different voice and they didn't change anything else.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
They didn't change personnel, they didn't change the analytics team
that they use. They just gave them a different voice.
And there are two examples of teams with a lot
of talent who had a belief that they were going
to make the playoffs at the beginning of the year,
just like we did. So they had the talent, they

(15:48):
had the roster, and because they made that managerial decision.
I don't know why it occurs. It shouldn't feel, it
shouldn't be this way, but it happens. It happens quite
a bit if you have a team with a playoff
talent roster. And I think if we would have made
this decision when I said too coming out of the

(16:09):
All Star Break, that we would be looking at a
different record and a different situation heading to Yankee Stadium tonight.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
And if if he is their best friend or their
great friend, or the good guy and all of these things,
you should want him to stay as your manager. And
you're hearing all the stuff that people are saying, and
you're knowing you're underperforming, and you're knowing that if you
don't perform.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
He'd be the one to go.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
They're not going to fire the players, right, Yeah, So
you'd think if I would think, Okay, I really don't
want them to fire him, but I got to show
him how I got to show this organization how much
we want Dan here.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
We've got to play better. But you are not.

Speaker 5 (16:45):
And that is a result of a lot of things,
but one of them being your manager.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
So it's just I mean, I do think, yeah.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
You could you You're right, they could. They could fire
him and he could go great. They could fire him
and it could go poorly. You don't know, but I
gotta try to sell it something. Yeah, exactly, you're making
an effort in saying like, okay, guys, this isn't working.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Something's got to change.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
It's no longer early. That is such music to people saying, Oh, they're.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
So happy you finally said it.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
I mean, there's time to come back from this deficit.
So there is time to come back from the deficit.
But we have a large enough sample size that this
team's just not responding to whatever leadership they're being given.
And I just happen to believe, and no one's going
to talk me out of it, that this team has
the talent to be a playoff team. And challenge for
the World Series, but we have not seen it perform

(17:34):
well all season long. Mostly the same team from a
year ago that made the American League Championship roster, so
we also know that they can act in a cohesive
way as well. But this season we have seen no
ability to repeat good performances, and we have seen no
ability to dig out of slumps from the offense. It's

(17:56):
been bad from the beginning of the year till now. Yeah,
and this organization is deciding we're going to ride with
the horses that brought us here.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
And that's there's two ways of looking at that.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
They are the horses you've rode all year along, but
they are also the horses that have led you to
this trough of murky, crappy water that we are now
drinking from with.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
The flies buzzy, yeah, flies buzzing around.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
I think they should have made the change weeks ago.
I still think that they should have made the change yesterday.
Like I said, that change from Service to Wilson happened
on the twenty second of August.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
We're still eleven day shy of that.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
I still think there's time to make this change and
save this season. And I think they are a desperate
organization that really put a lot and this team being
the team that they've been waiting for for a decade
in the Depoto era to finally break this World Series
drought here in Seattle. And look at them, seven games

(18:57):
under five hundred, and you want to stick with the
same horses.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I don't quite get it.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
I hope it works. I guess that's the plan. Is
just cross your fingers and hope it works.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
I guess.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
I sure hope having my good buddy Dan around is
just the thing.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
As long as we're patient, friendship wins.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
I sure hope that somewhere there's somebody that's doing lectures
on inspiring lectures somewhere Tony Robbins or somebody that has
changed his message to stick with friendship.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Good guys always win. But I don't believe it. I
don't buy it, not for a second.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
This team's grossly underperformed this year, and somebody's got to
be held responsible for it, and to me, it starts
with the manager, and it's not all his fault, but
somebody is in charge of getting good players to play
good baseball and we haven't seen it happen all season long.
All right, we'll talk more about a little later on

(20:00):
in the show. Let's find out what's on tap for
the rest of today's program.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
I have your attention, please.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
This is What's on Tap, brought to you by Emerald
Queen Casino, bringing you the best in live music, entertainment,
dinning in gaming, Emerald Queen Casino, always entertaining. For more info,
visit Emeraldqueen dot com.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
I'm Mariners at Yankees tonight, first pitch, four oh five.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
There is something special.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Though, there really is, whether you're struggling or not about
playing and some of the great cathedrals in this sport
against some of the great organizations, you know, classic or
blue blood programs. There's just a little extra special watching
games when your favorite teams at Yankee Stadium or at
Wrigley Field or at Fenway Park.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
And we at least have that to look forward to.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
Right, We've got that Brian wu will get the start
for us.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Great planning put him on the road against a lefty
dominating lineup where he has a seven ERA on the
road this year, and they'll start a left hander Ryan Weathers,
And I don't think that's by accident. Terrek Scruball made
his Dodger home debut last night. Did not pitch all
that well, only made it five innings and barely did.
Gave up three runs and did not get the win,

(21:13):
but the Dodgers did rally for the victory. Paul Sewald
was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday. And I'm going
to beat you to your question. Yes, sign him. Yeah,
And I know he's had a bad year, but Pete
Woodworth is his whisperer, so let's he saved.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
His career once before. Again.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
Desperate, We're desperate at this point. Let's find a veteran
reliever that knows how to get people out.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
I'm all about it.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
Seahawks training camp game week this week. They'll take on
the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday. The preseason officially begins this Thursday,
with several games being played in the National Football League.
Terry and Arnold Jedarian Price also continue to be big stories.
Will the Seahawks sign Arnold We're going to talk more
about that at six thirty. Jedarian Price doesn't look like

(21:59):
he's gonna play this Saturday, and that's disappointing. And of
course we're gonna find out all sorts of nitty gritty
information tonight about the team because Hard Knocks Episode two
will air this evening. Husky's Camp continues in the Boweing Classic.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Is this weekend. More on both of those things later
on in the show.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
But coming up next, let's talk to some Seahawks football.
Our big topic yesterday was Terry and Arnold. Will the
champs ignore red flags and sign the troubled Detroit corner?
We'll discuss at next Sports Radio ninety three point three kJ.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
R F M.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
All right, that great morning to you. It is Chuck Pallin,
Ashley Ryan with you. Greg Bell's gonna join us today
at seven oh five. Ryan Heay's at nine o'clock. Since
I didn't mention that in What's on Tap, pretty much
two pretty key elements.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, yeah, those guys are a big deal.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
We will also have the abcs of the m's for
you later on in the show. We'll do a camp
battle at nine point thirty, and we introduced a brand
new feature called Magic Mirror. Coming up at eight o'clock
here today on the radio show. We'll see if this
how this one goes over with all of the test audiences.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
They're gonna love it.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
I think.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Well, I mean they're all like, wait, did you reason.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Great?

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Yeah, I know Billy Bob Thornton will be featured, so
we'll see.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
No, I'm kidding, it'll be me all right.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Let's talk about Terry and Arnold. That was the big
story coming out of the weekend. Whether or not the
Seahawks are going to overlook some pretty obvious red flags
to bring back Terry and Arnold. Then, look, there is
an argument about Maine. I know the way that we
present ourselves in the sports world, and we have to

(23:53):
play a little bit of the pr game and make
it sound like, man, we're as wholesome as that fanit
watching our game with his son or daughter, maybe son
and daughter as they watch the football game. We want
to come off as pure and as wholesome as them.
But the truth is behind the scenes. Here's what happens

(24:16):
in organizations. Is he talented? Oh yeah, he's talented. All right,
can we spin it so it doesn't look bad. I
think there's a way to spin it so it doesn't
look bad.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Then let's sign him.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
That usually is the way it works, and I know
that that is kind of depressing sometimes to hear it
put that way.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
But there's a reason why.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
Talent always wins is pretty much a motto that every
general manager in the.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Sport lives by.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
And you think about it, over the years, plenty of
teams have won with some pretty bad guys over the years,
and they'll overlook some pretty bad stuff. I mean, Michael
Vick was they loved in his organization while he was
knowingly operating dog fighting rings.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
Kirby Puckett was beloved in his entire community while he
was knowingly in inner circles going home and mistreating his wife.
I mean, the list goes on and on. You know,
maybe Aaron Hernandez was weird.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Maybe maybe the outlier where everyone was like, there's something off.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Yeah, but they still went with them, didn't they. And
they still won with him, didn't they.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
So there are a lot of organizations.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
And the Seahawks are not excluded from this. That all right, Again,
the exercise being is he talented? Yes, Okay, that's the
first question they asked. Number two, can we spin it?
And then and then they figure out whether or not
they can spin it, and and come off not looking
horrible for making the decision, and and and every nearly

(25:53):
every organization goes through that process.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
I think the Brown skipped that part of it.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
And some justify it no matter why, and some just like,
we need a quarterback and so they justify it no
matter what. And I would also say, sometimes you have
situations that are that do seem worse and it turns
out the guy's actually a good guy that had a
bad situation that popped up in his life and he
looked terrible.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
But the truth of the.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Matter is that they are confident that will never happen again.
And then the story is exaggerated and the truth is boring,
but it actually does shine a different light, and that's
the true that's the version of the story that we're
going to choose to believe. So, but everybody kind of
goes through this. Here's why I think the Seahawks shouldn't,

(26:46):
and that is, you know that they really want.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
To be champions without having to battle pr and having
to spin it and having to go through that process.
And not only are.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
They active champions, they also have become active champions in
a short period of time by reassessing how we're going
to evaluate prospects, free agents, and we're going to place
character way higher on the list than we have in
the past, and it worked. Yeah, So why mess with

(27:25):
that formula if you don't have to? And maybe there
is a reason why. Maybe there is a story out there,
a version of the Terryan Arnold's story out there that
makes it look a lot better than what it reads
in the headlines or what police accounts suggest occurred. Because
here's something I didn't even realize, Ashley, about Terry and Arnold,

(27:48):
and that's what I learned from Greg. The people he
beat apparently was a mistaken identity. Oh man, I think
it's the reason why, by the way, we're not supposed
to take the law in our own hands, because what
if we don't have the right people. And so not
only did he take the law in his own hands

(28:09):
against people that he thought had committed a crime against
them and kidnapped them and beat them and watched them
be beat and gave instructions for beating them.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
That's the story, But.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
It sounds like he has the wrong people that they
never did steal from him in the first place, which
obviously sheds an even worse light on the situation at large.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Yeah, why even mess with it? Again?

Speaker 4 (28:33):
We were talking about desperation with the Mariners in the
first segment. The Seahawks are anything but desperate. Doesn't even
show up in their word cloud. There's some teams out
there that are. And if they decide to roll the
dice on a former first round pick who should still
be in his prime, maybe actually just entering his prime,
and they can figure out a way to pr Spinet,
or they know something about Terry and Arnold that the

(28:56):
rest of us don't, or something about the story that
the rest of us don't. Let them that not a
team that's on top of the mountain and got there
by doing things like creating character as a bigger trait
for one of their football players than ever before. Let
somebody else wrestle the Aryan Arnold thing. I think we're

(29:19):
just fine. And even though I know he would add
to our talent pool and probably at a really cheap rate,
I really don't understand while they're sniffing around this dog.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
No, because as you said, it's it should be teams
who are kind of desperate and we are anything but.
Like but if all of a sudden it comes to
light that he can hit lefties, Okay, now he can
go over and play for the Mariners. We're desperate, Like,
I'll take that. Yeah, that's desperate. Sad as it is,

(29:51):
there's a lot of truth to what you just said.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
You might try to figure out.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
All right, we know we're gonna take some rotten pr
but we need.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
A guy that can hit lefties. Yep, we don't need.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
We don't have to have in order to be good
another defensive back like we are. That's the that's the
beauty about being an organization that won a Super Bowl
and looks like it's still very firmly at the beginning
of its championship window and has done things all most

(30:30):
perfectly to get there. You don't have to ever make
some sort of desperate reach for anything. We don't need
the guy, No, we don't. We don't need him, and
I think they should stay away from him. And if
we find out later that that he goes on to
a successful career as a member of the Atlanta Falcons
and I'm just pulling an example out.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Of then Sobia, then the Falcons won the day.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
And and good for him for you know, fixing his life.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Yeah, for not have been you know, for all the
things that he had to go through that were false
accusations and they'd all got sorted and someone had faith
that it was all going to get sorted.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
There we go, Glad it worked out. Glad we didn't
have to deal with it.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Yeah, because this.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Story has been out there for a while and they
haven't exactly dropped the charges yet.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
No, eight telemies is not something that it's like, oh,
this guy, he might have made a mistake.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
No, this is a big deal.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Even if there was a miscommunication or two. They haven't
dropped the charges, so there's enough sticking to arnold that
the police and the law is diving deep into it
and are looks like they're going to have a trial.
So so I don't know.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
To me, it seems easy. To me, it seems obvious.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
I realize, first and foremost the general manager's job talent wins.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
I gotta find talent. If I can find cheap talents,
that's even better. But I don't think that the Seahawks.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
They are about two or three teams that don't need
to do this in the National Football League, and we
are soundly one of them. All right, coming up, next
big weekend coming up, and we're gonna get you ready
for it. Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Whoa

(32:20):
Happy Tuesday. It is Chuck and Ashley with you Greg
Bell coming up at seven oh five. We also have
our headlines for you. We have a brand new feature
that I'm gonna reveal today. It's called The Magic Mirror.
I wanted to call it mirror Mirror.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
I thought we were going to.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Yeah, well, and then Ashley did some great research on this.
Did you know that in the movie Snow White or
in the book Snow White, they do say mirror, mirror, mirror,
mirror on.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
The wall, Who's the fairest of them all? We all
know that, we all got that read that.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Yeah, and so I always thought it was miror miror.
Ashley always thought it was mirror mirror, But then when
she found the clip from the actual movie, they say
magic mirror in the movie.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Threw me off completely.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
But we probably heard mirror mirror so many other times
that by the time we got to see the movie
that we just thought she said mirror mirror too.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
Yeah, just ignored it, like it's just yeah, you just
didn't process what she actually said.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Because I saw it, I was like, wait a minute,
is this a bootleg version of snow White. What's happening here?

Speaker 4 (33:22):
You can't have a bootleg version, and yet, because that's
the audio we have, I have to change the name
of my new bit to Magic Mirror.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
I know, I'm sorry about that.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
So here's how it's gonna work for later in the show,
and the reason I'm telling you about it now because
I'm not gonna.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Do this till eight o'clock.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
I need uh texts and I need talkbacks at ninety
three to three kjar dot com, and hell, I'll take
a couple of phone calls at that time. But here's
the idea behind it. I want one reason for one
that's all you can give me. I'm sure you've got
a mountain of them. One reason for why Dan Wilson
should stay as our manager. I've already made my declaration.

(33:59):
But I want to be the fairest of them all,
all right, So I want to be able to hear
the other side of it, one at a time, and
then I will give you my argument back. And so
that's what Magic Mirror is going to be about. I
want to be the fairest of them all. I want
to hear the other side. I want to hear from
those that disagree with me, and then I want to

(34:20):
have an opportunity to be fair and just in my retort.
I don't want to just rant, and I don't want
you to just rent. We'll just have a fair tat
for tat conversation about whether or not this is the
right decision by the organization to keep Dan Wilson as
we start the rest of this season at Yankee Stadium tonight.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Sound fair?

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Yeah, I like it all right.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
We can get your questions on Youtubes as well. Four
nine four or five to one is the text line,
and this gives you time between now and eight oh
five or eight o'clock, eight o'clock on the dot to
give us some talkbacks as well. And so look for
that thirty seconds. That's what you have. That's and I'm
gonna keep you that because we need one. I want
one reason.

Speaker 5 (35:03):
Yeah, So don't go talk back. When it cuts you
off at thirty seconds, do another one. We won't play
the second one. You only get thirty seconds.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
So yes, brand new feature. We'll try it today. I'm
just giving you enough advanced warning right now. Magic mirror.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
We're going to do it at eight o'clock.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
I also want to let you know Boeing Classic is
this weekend. If you don't have your tickets yet, they
are certainly available right now, So get on out there.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
It's always a great event.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
I love going to snow Qualm and then the club life,
well there's there's just no arguing against it, and then
the golfing event. They do a fantastic job every year.
If you haven't been a part of it, get out
there this year and be a part of that Boeing
Classic with the fourteenth through the sixteenth.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
So yeah, yeah, it was it the is it the fourth? Okay?
So Thursday? Or is it Friday, Saturday Sunday?

Speaker 1 (35:54):
Friday, Saturday, Sunday Sunday.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Okay, Yeah, fourteenth through the sixteenth Boeing Classic at the
Club at snow Qualm Ridge.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
You I mean you live a golfing life.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Huh, Like I'm taking Friday off to golf?

Speaker 4 (36:06):
How much like participating in the tournaments that you participate
in or the showcases whatever you want to call them,
charity events, whatever you want to call them, versus just
going where you're not playing any golf.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
How would you rate the two?

Speaker 5 (36:22):
Oh, very different experience. I mean, when you're playing, it's
it's just a lot of fun. You know, depending on
the tournament. Sometimes it's more stressful and you're trying to
actually win or win money. The charity tournaments are just
for fun and you're not trying to really win anything
when you get to go I got to I went
to the when the LPGA Tour was here and they
had their tournament at Sahali.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Yeah, it's just it's a it's a production. I mean,
it's cool.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
It's just cool to see all the pieces that have
to come together to make this tournament actually go off
without a hitch. You think about the people at a
at your local you know, golf shop or pro shop
that are putting together your little tournament there. This is
that times you know, five million, and it's just it's
a cool thing. And now, especially with the Boeing Classic,
you're seeing actual PGA Tour legends. I mean, it's not

(37:12):
like the Corn the Corn Fairy Tour, which is exciting
because you're getting to see people who are I.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
Don't think it's called the korn Ferry Tour anymore.

Speaker 5 (37:17):
It might be, but people who are you know, up
and comers trying to make it to the PGA Tour.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
That's exciting. On its own route.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
This is something different because these are guys who you have,
if you're a golf fan, have watched your whole life
and so to see them and they're up close and
you're especially in this situation.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
I just it's awesome.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
You can only have one though.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
You can either go to events like this for the
rest of your life as a golf fan, or but
you can never participate in another golf tournament charity event
ever yourself.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
Okay, well, I know where five irons picking. Yeah, unless
it's a major.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
I was gonna say, I will ask one question.

Speaker 5 (37:51):
If I'm going to all of these, will I get
into Augusta? And will I get to go to an
Open Championship? Uh?

Speaker 4 (37:59):
Right?

Speaker 2 (38:00):
CP, Yeah, that was three.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
No, Okay, then no, I wouldn't give up.

Speaker 5 (38:06):
Yeah, but if I could go, if you could guarantee
me that I could get it to the Masters on Sunday,
that I could go to the Open Championship, and that
I could go to the Ryder Cup.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
I'll never play golf again.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
I don't think I can fold that in. I think
that's too easy for you.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
That's what it would take for me. To give up golf.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Okay, yeah, I'm not.

Speaker 4 (38:22):
Yeah, you can still play golf, You're just like, you
don't get to play like an event's anymore.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
Oh yeah, yeah, Well that would be really for me
to give up for those things, being.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
An event where you were playing versus going to an
event where you're just sitting there and drinking wine and enjoying.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Yeah, that's a harder question. Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
I like them both for different reasons.

Speaker 5 (38:43):
All right.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
