So I feel like if there's any hope left for
this baseball team, this kind of feels like a playoff
series in a lot of ways. But you don't get
in the playoffs. You get to keep some hope. That's
your prize. If you can sweep the Astros, you get
to keep some hope. You wake up you're a couple
of games out of first place. Obviously depends on what
the Rangers do. But I know a lot of people

have already given up. They've already moved on from this
baseball team. Larry Stone, who's usually fairly optimistic right came
on the Show of the Year day and said, I
just don't see it. I don't see these guys turning
this thing around. I know you don't see it. I
get to sense to Jackson really doesn't see it either.
And frankly, look, if I'm being truthful, I'm not really
seeing it either. I'm just being a putts trying to

check one and a half boxes out of five. That
is not close to a playoff caliber team.

I think Jackson in general terms, like the last couple
of years, like whatever, nobody's taken more heat consistently than Jerry.

correct me. The majority of Mariner fans ire seems to
be going towards Dan Wilson.

That's fair, yeah, But I think also because Jerry is
riding on this success of I think a lot of
Mariner fans and rightfully so, I feel this way. Give
Jerry credit for what the Mariners did last season. I
don't give a lot of credit to Dan Wilson for
what they did last season. And we said it during
the year many times during the year. Last year, in

the playoffs, we said it is Dan Wilson really catapulting
this team to greatness? Is that the reason why they're
winning is Dan Wilson or is it just a well
put together baseball team. We thought we had a well
put together baseball team in twenty twenty six, So I
think the fan base and me included, I'll include myself
in this. I would feel it a little bit hypocritical
for me to go on the air and march and say,

you know what, this is a pretty damn good baseball
team Jerry's put together, and then five months later say
this is a crappy baseball team. Jerry should be fired
for the baseball team he's put together because we all
thought it was good five months ago.

But well, but who cares what I mean, Dick, I'm
not trying to be a smart ass here, But who cares?

deal was a good move for a guy that's not
going to play any role in this baseball team at all,
because he got cal Rowley, so good luck at and
playing time, and they needed a reliever.

We thought those moves were all good. Correct? We were wrong.

They were all bad, all three of those moves, right.
I mean, Farrer was okay, but he hasn't turned out
to be the dominant middle reliever that we thought he
was gonna be. He's been up and down the whole year.
But I mean what we thought in March, to me
is irrelevant. It's all about results and when you did
your four boxes thing there or whatever.

Yeah, the defense, the offense. Jerry Depoto built this defensive team.
He built this offensive team and they stink. So how
come the how come the front office isn't taking more
of the blame If we're if we're not going to
give Dan credit for the team being good a year ago,
then why are we criticizing him for the team being

Maybe we shouldn't criticize him as much, and maybe we
should have given him more credit credit last year either way, right, Yeah, yeah,

of equity because Dan hasn't shown us he can do
anything well yet. Jerry Depoto, for as much as you
like him or don't like him, has shown he can
build a farm system and has shown he can take

fifty years. If this was any other town in the

we look at that as a major It's like it's
like in the Christmas story. It's a major reward. That's
our leg lamp, right, getting with an eight outs of

the World Series is our leg lamp because we're terrible,
because we're the only team left without a World tame.
I mean, if we were, I don't know, just give
me any team, the Braves, the Giants, whoever, and we
multiple championships, multiple would we be sitting here soiling ourselves
over being eight outs away from the World Series?

Of course we went like, the next time the Mariners
make the playoffs, whatever year that's gonna be, it won't
be nearly as big as it was in twenty twenty
two because we didn't wait twenty one years for it
to happen to those So all of this stuff is
in context for me and I just think, Dick, just
real quick. Yeah, I think with this general manager that
if you go out and you do your job as
a GM, being a five hundred baseball team, you know,

being eighty four eighty five, like that's that should be celebrated.

It really isn't.

But we celebrate it because we're not a very good franchise.
We celebrate it because we have no history. We celebrate
it because they tore this thing down and stunk on purpose,
and now they're back to at least some relevancy in
a era of Major League Baseball where it's easier to
make the playoffs now than ever. So I have asked
this question before, and I don't know the answer to it, Dick,
I really don't. I have asked the question before. Obviously,

there is a difference between making the playoffs and winning
the World Series. There's a difference between getting a five
hundred and making the postseason. Is it possible that Jerry
Depoto has taken this franchise as far as he can
take them?

Yes, but it's also possible that no general manager under
this ownership could take them far.

Oh, I'm just saying, I mean, yeah, I'm set. I
mean you mentioned you mentioned the Giants, you mentioned the Braves.
Do those ownerships of those franchises make it more or
less conducive than the Mariner's ownership to win.

Say, historically more?

Okay, So Jerry has a harder job general managing this
team than he would those teams.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah, I mean that's what I've been saying that for years,
that it's a hard job, right that when you're kind
of meddling in the middle when it comes to salary
and things like that. And I will give Jerry credit
for a lot of things, and I don't think it's
any kind of an insult to say, man, you've done
all you can do, right, because somebody literally coming in
here and like, let's say the A's hired a brand

new GM. I don't know if Billy Bean is even
doing that. I'm not even sure what he's doing. Let's
say the A's hired a new GM, and that guy
came in and took from them from the toilet to
World Series Champions. Let's say the Angels went out and
got a new GM, which I think they'll have one
over the offseason, and that guy comes in and takes
them from the outhouse to the penthouse. Making that jump
from Z to A seems to be really hard to do.

It's almost like when you're like when PJ. Carlissimo went
from Seattle to Oklahoma City, right, which I hate to
mention them, but you get the point, right, they were
a mess. By the time they got good. Somebody else
was gonna take that thing over. Same thing with a Kraken, Right,
your first coach, Dave Haxtall. We knew that Dave Haxtall
was not going to be around by the time these
guys were ready to compete for a Stanley Cup championship

because he just wouldn't.

Be allowed to last that long.

There'd be too many losing seasons that would be really
hard for him to survive by the time they got good.
So I just wonder if if Jerry Depoto and the
Mariners breaking this thing down to the studs and then
rebuilding it, is he going to be able to get
this thing to the next step. Will he hang around
long enough to take advantage of that, or will that

now be the responsibility of somebody else. And I think
it's certainly possible. And I just asked you the question,
and you said, I don't know. You said, it's possible.
I totally agree with you, ye thousand percent that maybe
this is a Chris Peterson Steve Sarkisian type thing. You know,
Steve Sarkisian got him to seven eight wins and Chris
Peterson was the one that got him to the final four.
You know, somebody else has to come in and take

that next step. So I'm just really curious to see
what happens with Jerry if they do fire Dan, they
don't fire Dan over this offseason, we get to a
point next year where they're meddling again and you're talking about, god,
twelve thirteen years, whatever the hell it's been. By next season,
at some point somebody has to decide at the Mariners, Dick,
can Jerry do all of this? Can he take us

from Z to M and then from M to A?
You get what I'm talking about, like from the bottom
of the alphabet to the top?

Can he can he do that? Can he do all
of that?

Or is he the guy that can get us halfway
there three quarters of the way there? And then somebody
else has to come in and really put the finishing
touches on this thing to put it over the top.

Is that the goal of the ownership because I hope
my gut here's what gut tells me. My gut tells
me that Mariner's ownership is a lot more satisfied with
the job that Jerry Depoto has done than the Mariner.

you're exactly right.

And Jackson, I'm sensing a little more criticism from our
guy here towards the ownership versus where you were a
couple of years ago.

Are you starting to turn a little bit I thought.

A couple of years ago, probably, just because what I
want to see is a commitment now that we've gotten
to good. I want to see just an out and
out one commitment to get great.

Yeah, and I haven't and I haven't seen.

No, it's not going to happen.

They're not gonna They're not going to add twenty million
to the payroll, which they've I mean, we've gone over
the numbers over the last like five six years. They
really don't increase. They have a number for payroll, and
they really don't push that. I don't think that they
have the oomph to say, you know what, let's go
from good to great, Let's add twenty million to the payroll.
They they just I just don't think the ownership group

Larsen and all of them say yeah, twenty million. No,
they don't think like that. They think, you know what,
one hundred and sixty is a good number and we're
not coming off that number because that number is a
playoff team and that number is fifty four percent, and
we're just fine with that.

Well, you're your point about how they think that Jerry's
doing and Dan. I think both of them, by the way,
Jerry and Dan, that they think they're doing a better
job than the fan base thing. Because I'm totally with
you on that one hundred percent. I mean I can
see sitting down with Stany, Jerry's doing a phenomenal job
with this outstanding I mean honestly, I could absolutely hear

him say something like that one hundred percent. So I
think it's almost like a moment of truth now right
now for this baseball team. First of all, this weekend
against Houston is definitely a moment of truth, Like, if
you guys want to be a part of this, then
you better sweep the Astros. That's it. I mean, no,
winning the series and gaining a game. No, I'm gonna
wake up four out on Monday. I want to wake

up two out on Monday.

You mentioned I think it's a great call. You mentioned
a playoff series. If you want to equate it to
a playoff series, I think it's the old five game series.
And we're down two to nothing, and one win means zero.
Two wins means zero. You have to get three wins
in this series if you want, if you want me
to believe that you have a the slightest pulse and

and CPR can be performed to turn this franchise, and
you have to sweep. If you win two a three,
you win one of three zero three. I got no more,
no more optimism on Monday than I have right now, Buffo.

like that man that if his team's got any any

Like I said last night, I know, anytime you hold
a record for whatever, franchise and anything, I think it's
a special.

I put a lot of emphasis on running basis, and
you know, not only still on basis, but being a
good base runner to help the team win whatever that is.
And know having this franchise record, it's awesome. It's actually funny.

Yeah, he's like, you couldn't have a little longer. I said, no,

like regular gads. So like a lot of guys are

I have green light. There's situational parts where I do

the coaches gave me a trust and told me I
have green light. So whenever I feel right and the
situations right, you know, I want to get get that back.

Well, look, I mean it's kind of a it's got
to be a little bit of a bittersweet thing. Like
these guys do a great job down here, this organization.
Rainiers are awesome, but everyone's got the same goal and
that's to get back up to the Major League. So
do you feel like you're doing everything you can You're
showing enough to get another call up and get your
butt back to Seattle.

Yeah, I know, I feel like I'm doing everything I
feel like I'm playing well. I feel healthy. I think
that's the main thing this year was coming back in
after the injuries and getting healthy. And I feel like,
especially over the past couple of months this summer, that
I've been turned I've turned it on. I like I've
gotten better defensively, been playing everywhere in the infield as
long as well now field as well. You know my
bats have turned around, is especially, so like I'm doing
everything I can. You know, it's out of my hands.

I'm just make sure whatever I do get the call
that I'm ready to go.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Ryan blessed with us. You've had what three call ups
four call ups so far to Seattle.

Two official, a couple of taxi squad but for sure.

So if you get the third official shot, how are
you more ready for that now than you were the
first couple of times?

You think, Uh, Mentally and physically, I think, I bet
I'm in a better spot. I've got some of my
bats on my under my season. I got a lot
of more games under my season. I think I know
what I need to do. I think I found out
remember who I was as a player coming off those injuries,
and I think, you know, when I go back up there.
I'll have a more mental headspace to be able to
go out there and help this team win.

I just visioning Ryan Bliss. We were just talking about
the Mariners getting to sweep over Houston this weekend. That necessarily,
you gotta it's a necessity that they get to sweep
over Houston to give them give.

Them a shot.

And as you're talking, I'm envisioning pitch runner Ryan Bliss October,
second base in the ninth inning, nobody out looking to
steal third. I mean, what needs to happen for the Mariners.
What's your vibe for the Mariners going forward to have
that happen? And what do you need to do between
now and October to make that dream a reality that
I'm having.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, that's funny. I've had that same dream probably a
million more times.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
So you know, I've dreamed ever since, you know, being
with the team last season in the postseason run, I'm
just being up there helping the team whatever it is,
pitch run, you know, defense, hitting, whatever it is. And
I think for me, it's just continuing to do what
I'm doing. I feel like I'm playing well, i feel
like I'm doing everything I can and just be ready
for what if it is my time when, if it
(19:04):
comes up in October, if it comes up sooner, or
next season, whenever it is, I just need to be ready.
I'll continue playing my game, continue progressing and getting better
each and every day, and you know, so just be
ready for the calls a game.

You're twenty seven in December, I believe, so, still a
young guy. You're not nineteen, but you're not forty either.
Do you feel like there's kind of a clock ticking
a little bit at all for you? Or do you
feel like.

You know what? No, I keep doing what I'm doing.
I'll get that shot.

Yeah, No, not for sure, not yet, No, not at all.
No dough clocks ticket. I know what type of player am.
I know I can help a team win. I know
I can provide for a team. I know that my
abilities and where I am. No, I'm right where I
need to be and I feel good about it.

Well, what is what is the difference? Honestly?

I mean you talk about the difference off the field,
the difference on the field between what you're seeing down here.
If someone were to approach you in the street and
say you spent plenty of time in Triple A. You
spend a bunch of time in the major leagues. Tell
me about the differences between those two leagues.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
What would you say, Yeah, it's a totally different game,
but at the same time as the same game.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Weird thing.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
I tell everybody it's the same game, but the lights
are bigger.

Each out means so much more, each each each run
is more precious, Each winning loss feels a little harder.
I think the game speeds up in that aspect just
because everybody hits the ball hard, everybody has good at bats,
everybody has the best pitch. So you have to be
kind of more mentally sharp when you get up there
and be ready for the next thing ahead of you,
not ready for what's going on right now. So I
just tell everybody it's a faster game, but it's the

same game. And of the day, it's still ninety feet
you know, the pitcher is still throwing the ball sixty
feet six inches, So it's more in between the between
the ears and anything.

That he's a dirt back He's gonna get he's kind

that next base. He's gonna slide hard, he's gonna play hard.
He's gonna when he's out, when the game's over, his
his uniforms are gonna be full of dirt. So yeah,
he's gonna play as hard as it's a great player. Uh,
stinky pop too for for a guy you know our size.

Yeah, all those words a pretty accurate. You know, you'll

the playoffs, we said it is Dan Wilson really catapulting
this team to greatness? Is that the reason why they're
winning is Dan Wilson or is it just a well
put together baseball team. We thought we had a well
put together baseball team in twenty twenty six, So I
think the fan base and me included, I'll include myself
in this. I would feel it a little bit hypocritical
for me to go on the air and march and say,

you know what, this is a pretty damn good baseball
team Jerry's put together, and then five months later say
this is a crappy baseball team. Jerry should be fired
for the baseball team he's put together because we all
thought it was good five months ago.

playing time, and they needed a reliever.

I mean, Farrer was okay, but he hasn't turned out
to be the dominant middle reliever that we thought he

But I mean what we thought in March, to me
is irrelevant. It's all about results and when you did
your four boxes thing there or whatever.

Yeah, the defense, the offense. Jerry Depoto built this defensive team.

if you go out and you do your job as
a GM, being a five hundred baseball team, you know,

But we celebrate it because we're not a very good franchise.
We celebrate it because we have no history. We celebrate
it because they tore this thing down and stunk on purpose,
and now they're back to at least some relevancy in
a era of Major League Baseball where it's easier to
make the playoffs now than ever. So I have asked
this question before, and I don't know the answer to it, Dick,
I really don't. I have asked the question before. Obviously,

there is a difference between making the playoffs and winning
the World Series. There's a difference between getting a five
hundred and making the postseason. Is it possible that Jerry
Depoto has taken this franchise as far as he can
take them?

Yes, but it's also possible that no general manager under
this ownership could take them far.

Oh, I'm just saying, I mean, yeah, I'm set. I
mean you mentioned you mentioned the Giants, you mentioned the Braves.
Do those ownerships of those franchises make it more or
less conducive than the Mariner's ownership to win.

Okay, So Jerry has a harder job general managing this
team than he would those teams.

Yeah, I mean that's what I've been saying that for years,
that it's a hard job, right that when you're kind
of meddling in the middle when it comes to salary
and things like that. And I will give Jerry credit
for a lot of things, and I don't think it's
any kind of an insult to say, man, you've done
all you can do, right, because somebody literally coming in
here and like, let's say the A's hired a brand

new GM. I don't know if Billy Bean is even
doing that. I'm not even sure what he's doing. Let's
say the A's hired a new GM, and that guy
came in and took from them from the toilet to
World Series Champions. Let's say the Angels went out and
got a new GM, which I think they'll have one
over the offseason, and that guy comes in and takes
them from the outhouse to the penthouse. Making that jump
from Z to A seems to be really hard to do.

It's almost like when you're like when PJ. Carlissimo went
from Seattle to Oklahoma City, right, which I hate to
mention them, but you get the point, right, they were
a mess. By the time they got good. Somebody else
was gonna take that thing over. Same thing with a Kraken, Right,
your first coach, Dave Haxtall. We knew that Dave Haxtall
was not going to be around by the time these
guys were ready to compete for a Stanley Cup championship

because he just wouldn't.

Be allowed to last that long.

There'd be too many losing seasons that would be really
hard for him to survive by the time they got good.
So I just wonder if if Jerry Depoto and the
Mariners breaking this thing down to the studs and then
rebuilding it, is he going to be able to get
this thing to the next step. Will he hang around
long enough to take advantage of that, or will that

now be the responsibility of somebody else. And I think
it's certainly possible. And I just asked you the question,
and you said, I don't know. You said, it's possible.
I totally agree with you, ye thousand percent that maybe
this is a Chris Peterson Steve Sarkisian type thing. You know,
Steve Sarkisian got him to seven eight wins and Chris
Peterson was the one that got him to the final four.
You know, somebody else has to come in and take

that next step. So I'm just really curious to see
what happens with Jerry if they do fire Dan, they
don't fire Dan over this offseason, we get to a
point next year where they're meddling again and you're talking about, god,
twelve thirteen years, whatever the hell it's been. By next season,
at some point somebody has to decide at the Mariners, Dick,
can Jerry do all of this? Can he take us

from Z to M and then from M to A?
You get what I'm talking about, like from the bottom
of the alphabet to the top?

Can he can he do that? Can he do all

Or is he the guy that can get us halfway

else has to come in and really put the finishing

my gut here's what gut tells me. My gut tells
me that Mariner's ownership is a lot more satisfied with
the job that Jerry Depoto has done than the Mariner.

And Jackson, I'm sensing a little more criticism from our
guy here towards the ownership versus where you were a

want to see is a commitment now that we've gotten
to good. I want to see just an out and
out one commitment to get great.

They're not gonna They're not going to add twenty million
to the payroll, which they've I mean, we've gone over
the numbers over the last like five six years. They
really don't increase. They have a number for payroll, and
they really don't push that. I don't think that they
have the oomph to say, you know what, let's go
from good to great, Let's add twenty million to the payroll.
They they just I just don't think the ownership group

Larsen and all of them say yeah, twenty million. No,
they don't think like that. They think, you know what,
one hundred and sixty is a good number and we're
not coming off that number because that number is a
playoff team and that number is fifty four percent, and
we're just fine with that.

Well, you're your point about how they think that Jerry's
doing and Dan. I think both of them, by the way,
Jerry and Dan, that they think they're doing a better
job than the fan base thing. Because I'm totally with
you on that one hundred percent. I mean I can
see sitting down with Stany, Jerry's doing a phenomenal job
with this outstanding I mean honestly, I could absolutely hear

think it's almost like a moment of truth now right
now for this baseball team. First of all, this weekend

wake up four out on Monday. I want to wake

a playoff series. If you want to equate it to
a playoff series, I think it's the old five game series.

Like I said last night, I know, anytime you hold
a record for whatever, franchise and anything, I think it's
a special.

I put a lot of emphasis on running basis, and
you know, not only still on basis, but being a
good base runner to help the team win whatever that is.
And know having this franchise record, it's awesome. It's actually funny.

Yeah, he's like, you couldn't have a little longer. I said, no,

like regular gads. So like a lot of guys are

I have green light. There's situational parts where I do

the coaches gave me a trust and told me I
have green light. So whenever I feel right and the
situations right, you know, I want to get get that back.

Well, look, I mean it's kind of a it's got
to be a little bit of a bittersweet thing. Like
these guys do a great job down here, this organization.
Rainiers are awesome, but everyone's got the same goal and
that's to get back up to the Major League. So
do you feel like you're doing everything you can You're
showing enough to get another call up and get your
butt back to Seattle.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Yeah, I know, I feel like I'm doing everything I
feel like I'm playing well. I feel healthy. I think
that's the main thing this year was coming back in
after the injuries and getting healthy. And I feel like,
especially over the past couple of months this summer, that
I've been turned I've turned it on. I like I've
gotten better defensively, been playing everywhere in the infield as
long as well now field as well. You know my
bats have turned around, is especially, so like I'm doing
everything I can. You know, it's out of my hands.
(17:33):
I'm just make sure whatever I do get the call
that I'm ready to go.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Ryan blessed with us. You've had what three call ups
four call ups so far to Seattle.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Two official, a couple of taxi squad but for sure.

So if you get the third official shot, how are
you more ready for that now than you were the
first couple of times?
Speaker 6 (17:50):
You think, Uh, Mentally and physically, I think, I bet
I'm in a better spot. I've got some of my
bats on my under my season. I got a lot
of more games under my season. I think I know
what I need to do. I think I found out
remember who I was as a player coming off those injuries,
and I think, you know, when I go back up there.
I'll have a more mental headspace to be able to
go out there and help this team win.

I just visioning Ryan Bliss. We were just talking about
the Mariners getting to sweep over Houston this weekend. That necessarily,
you gotta it's a necessity that they get to sweep
over Houston to give them give.

And as you're talking, I'm envisioning pitch runner Ryan Bliss October,
second base in the ninth inning, nobody out looking to
steal third. I mean, what needs to happen for the Mariners.
What's your vibe for the Mariners going forward to have
that happen? And what do you need to do between
now and October to make that dream a reality that
I'm having.

Yeah, that's funny. I've had that same dream probably a
million more times.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
So you know, I've dreamed ever since, you know, being
with the team last season in the postseason run, I'm
just being up there helping the team whatever it is,
pitch run, you know, defense, hitting, whatever it is. And
I think for me, it's just continuing to do what
I'm doing. I feel like I'm playing well, i feel
like I'm doing everything I can and just be ready
for what if it is my time when, if it

comes up in October, if it comes up sooner, or
next season, whenever it is, I just need to be ready.
I'll continue playing my game, continue progressing and getting better
each and every day, and you know, so just be
ready for the calls a game.

You're twenty seven in December, I believe, so, still a
young guy. You're not nineteen, but you're not forty either.
Do you feel like there's kind of a clock ticking
a little bit at all for you? Or do you
feel like.

You know what? No, I keep doing what I'm doing.

Yeah, No, not for sure, not yet, No, not at all.
No dough clocks ticket. I know what type of player am.
I know I can help a team win. I know

abilities and where I am. No, I'm right where I

Well, what is what is the difference? Honestly?

I mean you talk about the difference off the field,
the difference on the field between what you're seeing down here.
If someone were to approach you in the street and
say you spent plenty of time in Triple A. You
spend a bunch of time in the major leagues. Tell
me about the differences between those two leagues.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
What would you say, Yeah, it's a totally different game,
but at the same time as the same game.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Weird thing.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
I tell everybody it's the same game, but the lights
are bigger.
Speaker 6 (20:03):
Each out means so much more, each each each run
is more precious, Each winning loss feels a little harder.
I think the game speeds up in that aspect just
because everybody hits the ball hard, everybody has good at bats,
everybody has the best pitch. So you have to be
kind of more mentally sharp when you get up there
and be ready for the next thing ahead of you,
not ready for what's going on right now. So I
just tell everybody it's a faster game, but it's the

same game. And of the day, it's still ninety feet
you know, the pitcher is still throwing the ball sixty
feet six inches, So it's more in between the between
the ears and anything.

That he's a dirt back He's gonna get he's kind

he's gonna play as hard as it's a great player. Uh,

about Colt Emerson. You play with him down here for
a while, gets the big deal, goes up to the
big leagues and struggles and they were gonna send him

is going through his mind? I mean, you know him
a little bit, put yourself in his shoes, like I

could see how a young kid like that would feel like, God.

Man, I suck.

This is terrible with failure, blah blah blah, this is awful.
What do you think he's thinking right now?

Yeah, I mean it's a knowing cold a little bit.
I know he's a strong kids, strong mental kid. Everybody struggles.
Everybody's going to struggle in this game, and unfortunately for him,
his first time happened to be in the in the
big leagues. And I think there's nothing wrong with that.
You learn, you gotta learn, You got an adjust. I
have nothing but the utmost faith that he's gonna come back.
I don't know about his injury. I just heard about that.
I pray that he's gonna be good. But yeah, so whatever,

whenever he comes back healthy, I have no undoubt that
he's gonna come back and be good. You just got
to adjust to the league, and he's more than capable
of doing it.

Ran I saw a highlight a couple of nights ago
of this huge man rounding the bases on an inside
the park home run. So tell me about las Montes,
because he is a combo of speed and size.

Dude, percent you know, everybobody sees the big, towering home runs.
Everybody sees the pop, the one to eight off the bat.
When he first got here, the first thing I noticed.

Was his speed.

And his defense is elite. I think it's pretty good.
His arm is really good. Uh, he moves really well

Right after that show, because I watched it on Wednesday night,
I was like, my god, I mean there's a cliffhanger
with Arnold McDonald's getting all fired up about it. You know,
they're talking about him playing in the preseason, they're signing

this guy, and then what happens they freaking signed.

I was watching with Dixon and I was like, they're
not doing this at the end.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
If they're not getting them right, I mean, they're.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Just not And you heard right there he said, how
do you prepare for a guy that's not here yet?
Speaker 5 (27:32):

Like, that's what I mean.

Calling the pr team, call the marketing team. People are
gonna be pissed. Let's be ready for that criticism. Let's
get ready when somebody's gonna tell Iggy or Pritchett that

As Sean Payton's press conference yesterday of the Broncos head
coach shared what he had seen so far from former
Husky and their fourth round pick Jonah Coleman.
Speaker 11 (28:19):
He did a number of things on tape where was
exposed to certain protections, maybe that a lot of college
backs weren't. You know, so you feel an older player
or a veteran player, and you saw that on tape,
like you saw you saw the runs that we run
some protections, you kind of you got a chance to
see more of it maybe than you do with some
(28:40):
other backs.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Well, i'll tell you what, that's a positive development for Jedfish.
If you're a running back you want to get ready
for the NFL. He's telling you right there that he's
seeing things from Joanah Coleman, that he's got tricks up
his sleeve that a lot of college running backs don't have.
And that goes right back to his time with Jetfish.
I mean, does he have a shot to really play
a lot in Denver? Because they got JK. Dobbins, right,

I mean, Jackson, you're the fantasy guy around here. They
got JK. Dobbins. But I mean he's like, I mean,
he's good, but he's not well.

They drafted O. J. Harvey last.

Harvey's Harvey's the big one that's gonna get in the
way of Jonah Coleman.

that's a backfield and fantasy that you don't touch at
all because they like, that's gonna be one where all
three of those guys are gonna get opportunities. Like Coleman
is too good for the Broncos not to use him.

He had five touchdowns in the last six games.

Was he hurt?

He played seven Dobbins games. I'm just saying, Dobbin.

They don't have an obvious there's not a bell Cow
guy there. There's no you know, Adrian Peterson for example,
than Denver, right. I mean, I could use a better
example than that, But it just feels like, yeah, there's
a chance for someone to pop man, and maybe it's
gonna be him. I just like you will see him
against us as the starting running back.

I love how he talked talks about Washington Husky's being
ready for the NFL. That's not the first Washington Husky
these that they've been talking about that's ready for the NFL,
right for sure?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Right, Well, that's why I said at the top, it's
just another positive development for Jetfish that you want to
go to the NFL. Be ready for the NFL, Go
play for jet He should pay me for that. That's
a hell of a marketing tool. By the way, that's
a hell of a promotion. I should get paid for that. Hey, Dick,

Caitlin Clark, and Sophie Cunningham held a press conference this
week where the Indiana Fever stars talked about their how
their team is sticking together with all the drama surrounding
their coach, Stephanie White's comments throughout the week.
Speaker 12 (30:36):
You know, I think there's just been a lot of
outside noise.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
But our locker room is good.
Speaker 12 (30:40):
And that's what it is to be an Indiana Fever
on the staff as a player that you know when
you come here, that's going to be one of the
things that's going to try to distract you. But our
locker room in there, it's tight and we have each
other's backs. Coach loves us, She's gonna do She didn't
see the clip that at the end of the day,
she didn't see the clip, and you know what day
she is a hell of a players she's a great
defit her and so she coached her if I don't

know how many years up in Connecticut, so give her
her flowers. And she didn't see and that's okay. Me
and Steph are great. Steph is great with all of us,
and so it's really the outside noise that's trying to
distract us.

I talked to Steph earlier in the day too, and
you know, I think we forget a lot of times,
like we're human and she has feelings and there's moments
that are really hard and sometimes that's just the job
you sign up for. But at the same time, like
it's okay to feel those emotions. I think our world
is just like we love to hate, we love to divide,

like that's all we want to do, Like nobody wants
to see each other succeed. I feel like we need
to do a better job uplifting each other.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
I think as Stephanie White had to do it all
over again, she would have just stayed with the same
intonation that she had at the first part of the
press conference when she said that I couldn't you know,
I didn't see the play whatever, and not devolve into
the whatever she said at the end, like go to Hell.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
I can go to hell, go to Hell basically likes
he kind of evolved into that.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
I don't know, God, I'm just I'm just excited because
we've got a national broadcast of that at seven o'clock
on Ion and the game leading into it, Fever Wings.

Well, I'm just I'm laughing my ass off right now
at that clip. I'm sorry, guys, I just I literally
started laughing in the middle of that thing because they're
talking about uplifting people. Whatever Stephanie White's speech the air night,
Love will win, but everybody can go to him. I mean,
what are we doing and and and the whole idea, Like,

I mean, I don't want to look at her as
a as a head coach in the w NBA. I
just want to look at her as a head coach.
And I don't give a damn if you saw the
clip or not. You do not, under any circumstance, defend
the opponent. You don't do it. If you didn't see
the clip, then you just you do what every coach
should do, and you have your players back. I mean
what the hell would Stephanie White have even remotely thought

she had seen that would get her to defend the
opponent versus her player. So I'm sorry, I'm not buying
any of this or of it all. That's ridiculous.

There only no circumstance where a head coach should ever
either a defend the opponent or b sit there and.

Not have her players back or his players back. Ever.

My point is this, how many times have we seen
a layup or a dunk attempt in the NBA or
the WNBA where at first you're like, holy crap, what
a cheap shot, and then you go back on the
video and the slow moans like, oh no, actually he
was off balance, he was dunking, he didn't get hit
that hard. It was clearly not intentional, and it looked horrible.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
That happens all the time.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
First of all, that's not a coach, that's a broadcaster talking.
A coach is sitting next to a player. A coach
needs to have their players back every single time. And
by the way, secondly, about this whole I didn't see
the clip thing she.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Was staring at the play.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
There's video and still photos of her from that game
that has her looking right at the play the entire time.
So I just I don't buy any of this, bs dick.
I'm sorry, we're gonna we're just gonna have a difference
of opinion here, and that's great that I just don't
think she sounded like a clown when she's on the

on the podium talking about how we need to lift
people up and love is gonna win and blah blah blah.
Would stock all that. But everyone can go to hell.

for taking the high road with this thing. But you

the head coach of an NBA team, we would be
