Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fox announced that the Huskies are going to play two
Friday night games this year Iowa October ninth in Seattle
and then at Purdue on the sixteenth of October.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
That means, by.
Speaker 1 (00:11):
The way, the Huskies will not playing on a Saturday
for three consecutive weekends in October. Friday the ninth, Friday
the sixteenth, They'll be off on Saturday, the twenty fourth,
before they head to Nebraska the following Saturday.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
It was some free weekends.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
When was the last time the Huskies.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
The first three weeks of October had three consecutive Saturdays off,
probably and that's what they'll be doing this year.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Probably never, but yeah, I mean you can put like
book some weekend trips.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
You can see. We'll see what the seahawkschedule.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
The Seahawks have a road game, you can get out
of town games.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Well, I'm looking forward to seeing that. Actually, if there's
gonna be any any Seahawks Husky Combo road trips, we
used to always keep an eye on that with the
old PAC twelve going down to San Francisco. All right,
is there a cal Stanford game? We're going to Arizona
State Arizona?
Speaker 5 (01:01):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Is there a cardinal game, we can head to USC
U c l A. Is there a Ram game we
can get to? And those Gay days kind of feel
like they're over a little bit. I mean, obviously you're
at USC the Huskies are in week five, so there's
a possibility of maybe a weekend there where you could
see the Rams. Bring up the Seahawks schedule? Are the opponents?
I know the schedule. The schedule, by the way, comes
(01:23):
out next Thursday, as in this coming Thursday. They didn't
say a time, but it's normally five o'clock, five o'clock.
Normally five o'clock. We'll have some leaks obviously, But who
are who are the Seahawk road besides the divisional opponents?
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Who are the road shows this year for them?
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Eagles okay, Commanders okay, Broncos okay, Raiders okay, Panthers so
at at Oregon, at Michigan State, at Nebraska, at Purdue
because the Bears come here in Seattle.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, there's nothing. That's the one thing that kind of sucks.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
I mean, there's a lot of things that kind of suck,
but that's one thing that does kind of suck. Is
that the idea of doing a Husky Seahawk Combo weekend,
for the most part, is off the table. And some
of my favorite trips were going down to Arizona on
a Thursday night for a Seahawk cardinal game Dick and
then doing the show Friday, and then coming back for
a game in Tempee on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
I did Notre Dame Indianapolis, that's or was that the
Chris Polk game That's where we couldn't score from the
one yard line?
Speaker 6 (02:28):
Was that?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yeah, No, it was Jim moores year. So what was
Jim Morris year and nine?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Two and nine, it's two thousand and nine, it was
it was Sarks, sarks first season.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
We should have beaten notors at the parallax game.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
By the way, it was the Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
It was the south bend where Miller took a camera
to then outside parking line. Here's why you know to
wear the bulls because the camera's on the long angle
and he proved it.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
I was in that end zone.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
I did not have benefic benefit of the parallax because
I was sitting in the end zone.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yeah, well, look, I mean that's that.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Like overall, this is now the third year that we
are doing this Big ten thing, right, and we're gonna
hopefully hook up with Tony cash Cohen here in a
few minutes from now, get his thoughts on Husky spring ball,
all that he's got a kid now, so he was
kind of preoccupied. So as soon as we grabbed Tony
with throw them on the ear. Are we still good
with the move to the Big ten? And look, maybe
(03:18):
you weren't from the start, guys. I remember the day
it was announced we're doing a show from Jimmy's. I
don't know why we were down there. We were doing
a show from Jimmy's, and the story came out that
you Dub and Oregon, we're gonna go to the Big
ten with USC and UCLA. And I remember going to
Jimmy's and if you remember, Dick Ian and Jessmon were,
they are doing a show at Jimmy's before us, and
(03:39):
they were freaking despondents. They were not happy. I mean,
they both looked like they'd seen a ghost. To be
honest with you, and I don't blame him for feeling
that way. I would have felt the exact same way.
But I remember going on the air with you that
day and literally saying on the show man. I feel
like I want to cry, like I was so happy
that you Dub was going to be invited to this party.
(04:00):
College football is moving on with this big festival and
we're getting a ticket. We're going to be front row
and center. So here we are two years in basketball.
Let's face it. There's reasons for it. Injuries one of them.
But basketball, I think we'd be being a little bit
dishonest if we said it was anything sort of a
disaster so far, absolute disaster.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
But it was a basketball in the last five years anyway,
that's right.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
But basketball has been an absolute disaster if we're resetting everything.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Once we moved to the Big Ten.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Football has been okay, and there's context for that because
of what Jedfish took over. The travel schedule has been
obviously bonkers for a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Soccer won the Big Ten.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
You're making not as much money as other schools in
the Big Ten, but you're making more money than what
you would have made if you'd stayed in the Pac
twelve with the Apple deals. So let's do a little
check in, right, how do we feel? How do we
feel now?
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Today?
Speaker 4 (04:54):
We're relevant, We're in a relevant conference and there's only
two left, and I think more war schools are going
to eventually go into those two relevant conferences, and just
all indications are that if you're not a member of
the Big Ten or the SEC going over the next five, ten,
fifteen years, you're just going to be left behind.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
So we had to jump on that boat when we did.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Right, because remember it was August of twenty twenty three,
and then they played one more season in the Pac
twelve as a football team, then they had the basketball season,
and the Huskies won that last ever game with Oregon,
which I gotta be honest with you, is one of
my favorite wins of all time in Husky football history.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Were you there by the way for that game? I
was not the one here, I was not in vague
going down there.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
And I remember the week of the game, everybody, including Gonzana, oh,
this is not the same Oregon team.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
You guys saw earlier in the year.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
They're pissed off, they're demolishing everybody, and that Vegas gave
him no chance. They were like one point, yeah, ten
and a half point underdogs in that game. And remember
the Huskies came out and rolled out early on them,
and Orgon came back and we thought they're gonna blow it,
and then the Huskies came back and took the lead
and Quinton Moore had that touchdown and then one of
my favorite sequences. I know, you guys maybe don't think
(06:10):
about it as highly as I do, or maybe you do,
but first and twenty after Nate Caleppo's holding call and
Dylan Johnson said, I got it, I got it, just
give me the damn ball and shoved.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
It right up their ass.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Three straight drive, bang bang boom over. Only thing that
would have made it better is if he were to
scored on that last play and literally shoved it up
their backside.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
Man, So that whole move.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Honestly, the reason why I'm bringing that up is because
the fact that they were leaving for the Big ten
made that game even more special because you knew it
was the last one.
Speaker 7 (06:46):
That's the thing I think, in a dream situation, everything
had stayed status quo from what it was long ago,
right But because the already the groundwork were gone in
the USCUCLA, the only direction to t was to go
to the Big Ten. So the idea of like checking in,
are we happy with it? Like it's the it was
either this road or the road to the grave. Yes,
(07:08):
and like and yes, like, do be fair. The PAC
twelve have risen from the grave into a a you know.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
A pretty competent but they would look even better if
they had you.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
They're competent, but they're not nationally relevant.
Speaker 7 (07:22):
It's it's very much like a Frankenstegin. You are clearly
a being, like you are alive, you are doing things.
You're not in the grave.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
So we believe that if youwn Oregon had stayed behind
in the PAC twelve, they still would be looked at
as a lesser than absolutely okay, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Right, and they would have been on only Apple.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, let's do this, let's do this, which is God,
that's hard to fathom, right, yeah, I mean just go
into a streaming service to like, you're so lame. I
mean obviously, like Apple, everybody has some games on a
streaming service. Right, it feels like everybody every now and
then is going to end up on Peacock or whatever.
(08:01):
But every freaking week, like, you are so lame, You're
such a loser that you have to go to the
corner and jump on an app and watch your team play,
and a team you will have to go to the
library and use their Wi Fi to jump on the
internet and watch your team play football.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
And now you've got less people on cable, more people
on like YouTube, TV and fubo.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Ye.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
You go to the guide, guess what you're not gonna see.
You wouldn't see Husky football. Let's get a little check
in from the Husky nation out there. Four nine, four
or five one. It was three years ago this August
that they made the move. Obviously, it was two years
ago this September that they began playing in the Big
Ten with football. I think the first official event was soccer,
(08:45):
women's soccer, if I'm not mistaken that offseason or that
that summer. So you tell us, are you still if
you were in favor of the move, then are you
still happy they did it right? And if you were
not in favor of the move, then do you still
think it was a mistake right?
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Four nine, four or five one?
Speaker 1 (09:04):
For textimonials, We'll try and track down Tony next on
ninety three three KJRFM.
Speaker 5 (09:11):
Now back to Softie and Dick on your home for
the Huskies Cracking and the twelfth Man Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ r FM, All right.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
We're back.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Tony Caster Cone will join us at six pm tonight.
By the way, all right, so set your dial, set
your time, or your alarm, whatever it is that you
use to remind you of something. Six pm tonight, Tony
Castor Cone. Humeillan joins at five o'clock tonight. We'll get
Hugh's take on the Seahawk ownership stories that have been
coming out the last couple of days. Dante Fowler haven't
(09:42):
gotten huge take on that since they officially signed him.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
We're going to talk with.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Tony about Husky football coming out of spring ball. Obviously,
there's a lot of a lot of excitement for Cody
Green and Derek Coleman Brusaw. I don't know if you
heard Ryan Walters with us. You were getting your khnoscopy
done and you were sitting at home all the Looney
Tunes on Friday. You know what, I wish I was
recording you. When I called you that day to see
(10:07):
how you were doing.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Said, I sounded like I'd sucked a balloon full of helium.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
No, you sounded like you were on like some kind
of laughing gas or something. Dick you ready, I don't know, man, Fine,
can come in. And I was like, I said, exactly
what you sound like? I see, but from my standpoint
I sounded normal.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
That's because you weren't there.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
So I said, I said, I go, I mean, I
don't know, I feel okay, And you stopped me right
there and he said, no, man, you feel I'll.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Just say this, you have you had one, by the way, Jackson,
you haven't had one obviously, khnoscopy. Okay, Well, when somebody
puts something up your butt, it's not gonna feel great
and it's going to make you do weird things. So yeah,
for sure, so just be ready for that when you
turn fifty years old. But it isn't necessary evil. I'm
glad that you got it done. I got it done.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Everyone's gotta get it done.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
But in the end, on that day, as I transition,
I'm trying to make a point here, all right. On
that day and Walters came on with us, and God,
we should find the audio, man, if we can, said
Derek Coleman. Bruce got too big. He can't play outside anymore.
He's playing inside now. He's a tackle two ninety five six'
five two ninety five eighteen year old kid that literally
like the week of the spring, Game dick turned eighteen years,
(11:16):
Old SO i don't. KNOW i kind of feel LIKE
i was more comfortable with an edge rusher at eighteen
THAN i am a defensive tackle at.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Eighteen you, KNOW i, mean either, way it's a jump From.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Kennedy and here's the thing About, kennedy, Man i'm trying
to remember the Last kennedy player that came to You
dub and really. POPPED i, Mean Paul arnold went To,
kennedy but he got banged up a, lot kind of.
Unfair we had all those receivers that came out Of.
Kennedy we Had Sam. HEWARD i remember talking to some
(11:52):
of the guys that coached there and they, said, look,
man we're in the shotgun every play And sam never got.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Touched i'm, like, well is that a good?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Thing?
Speaker 1 (11:59):
RIGHT i, mean it's going to be a different deal
when he gets to college. Football AND i don't, Know
i'm not saying That Derek Coleman brusaw is going to
go the way that those guys went on. Offense i'm
trying to remember the Last kennedy defensive player that went
To You dub and did really. Well but there is
a lot of curiosity for me how these two guys
do as eighteen year old, kids BECAUSE i don't, know,
(12:21):
man the coaches would never admit, it the players would
never admit, it and maybe people are still slightly uncomfortable with.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
IT i don't.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
KNOW i just wonder how Much nil is driving these
guys playing at the age of eighteen years.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Old, oh that's. INTERESTING i think that's very.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
POSSIBLE i am limiting my expectations on both of the,
guys you, know Especially. BRUSA i THINK i just don't
see an eighteen year old just being a dominant defensive, lineman,
RIGHT i have a hard time in visioning, that AND
i just Want white to, just, hey just be a.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Wall you, know. Agreed i'm, Sorry Great green be a.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Wall and when you Mentioned, KENNEDY i mean you're coming
into My now we're talking the Old Seamont league and
now THE. SPSL i, mean those are the LEAGUES i
know better than any in the last twenty years Because
i've coached in, them and they're not good football.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
Leagues, right they weren't good when they were in The Seamont.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
League kennedy dominated a bad, league And kennedy dominated a BAD.
Npsl this year they went seven to. Zer this year
they went eight and three. Overall now they Played boffel
And sumner in the non. League sumner was the best
team in the, state the defending, champions and they lost
twenty eighth to.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Nothing, yeah so Maybe derek's the one that breaks the, mold,
Right you never? Know, Yes but here's the. Thing he's
going to have to play defensive. Tackle AND i like
the idea that they're starting off With, Wazoo Utah, State Eastern.
Minnesota but then he's going to have to get in
the trenches WITH, Usc, Iowa, Nebraska Penn, State, indiana And.
Oregon that seems like a lot to ask an eighteen
(13:46):
year old. Kid So i'm kind of with, You dick
THAT i don't expect him to be a star right.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Away AM i hoping he, is of?
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Course but WOULD i be surprised if he had some
lumps in your number one of defense?
Speaker 2 (14:00):
TACKLE i.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Would, now the, coaches like The husky coaches at Least,
jed have been prone to, do they don't hold anything
back many H i mean the hype, Meter like normally
you go to a coach and the coaches are the ones, Right,
jackston that are kind of slowing The, hey, whoa let's
slow this thing. Down this guy's a. Freshman they don't
do that Under. Jedfish Jed fish didn't do it With Demon,
(14:22):
williams And Ryan walters is not doing it With Darren.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
Coleman, brustock he's very lowest body fat of the defensive, line.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Right but he did say to me that he's going
to be playing a lot.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Inside, Yeah AND i brought that up to you off
the year and you, said what to me about?
Speaker 7 (14:37):
It?
Speaker 6 (14:38):
Yeah he got too.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Big you got too. Big you can't play edge rusher
at two ninety.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
FIVE i, mean there will be, TIMES i, think especially
as we, start you, know in spring you're trying to
get better at technique of fundamentals and some of your bass,
calls and really the point of emphysis for us this
spring was like your early down pressure, package you, know
the different coverage. Variations but as beginning the season we
start game planning for third downs and some situational, stuff
(15:04):
there might be times where we put him out.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
There, well let me ask, you this is this what
you envisioned for? Him honestly when you were recruiting, him
did you envision an edge rusher in college or did
you see a guy getting too big to play that
position and Having, Yes.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
So WHEN i first got, here you, know you're looking
at his his junior tape and you, KNOW i think
he was playing around fifty to sixty right and he
jumps off the. Screen you, know just the way he
his motor off the edge is get. Off you, know
saw him in camp that summer and you, know same
thing just as Get off was was.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Unreal, YEAH i mean he he called him a monster
the first time we spoke in spring, ball WHICH i
think was the first day we were out there for
day one of.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Camp and he's not backing off.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
NOW i, mean you, know they they love the, guy
but does that mean they love the guy now they
love the guy in two years from, now three years from.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Now So i'm kind of with.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
YOU I, mean the difference Between Derek Coleman bruce On
Cody green is that If Cody green has a bump.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
In the, road you're going to notice. It, yes you
won't notice it with Dcb, no that's.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Right and another great thing About Derek Coleman bruce is
we don't have to rely on him to be that
good because this defense is going to be rock. Solid
they were fifteenth in the nation in scoring defense last.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
YEAR i expect them to be.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Better and one of the REASONS i expect him better
is look at What Ryan walters has done in his
second years defensive. Coordinator so What. Missouri first, year His
tigers allowed twenty five points per. Game second, year they
allowed nineteen points per.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
Game.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
Illinois his first, year they allowed twenty two points a.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Game in his.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Second, year they allowed twelve point seven points per game
in his second. Year, NOW i don't think they'll get
down to twelve points per, game BUT i see a
defense allowing fourteen to fifteen to sixteen points per game this.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Year, well how good are they?
Speaker 1 (16:56):
UPFRONT i, mean that's the story because they're going to
be weaker in the back, end assume but their linebacker course,
Right but how good are they? Upfront, like how good
is their front? Seven how good is their defensive?
Speaker 2 (17:05):
LINE i don't.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
KNOW i, mean we're still waiting For Olinnius, Davis we're
still waiting For Isaiah Ward Jacob.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Lane linebackers on paper look. Great you're exactly.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Right they got those names, there X Ray Alexander, Buddha Jacob.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Manu.
Speaker 1 (17:18):
RIGHT i mean they've got some really good, Names, Zadris Rainey.
Saale there's names that we now have heard. Of at,
linebacker they we use safety, two, Right but back in
the day there were linebackers that were terrible on this football.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Team they've made a big jump at that.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
SPOT i just want to know who their defensive linemen, Are,
dick that are going to step up and and really
stop the, run because that's where this thing is going
to be decided in this. Conference, right you don't even
NEED i don't think you even need great secondary, play
maybe great safety, play but you need great cover corners
in The Big, ten are? THERE i mean outside Of Ohio,
state is the conference full of great.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Receivers, no but They but they stopped the run last.
YEAR i mean they were, one, two, three four OF us.
Six they were in the top fifteen yards per game.
Allowed and with the same type of guys that they have,
now it's not lost big time defensive.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Line this scheme is going to be is going to
be the.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Deal and you mentioned earlier this, EARLIER i think you
called it a defensive team FOR u dub that's not
going to cut. It because you got to score some damn, points.
MAN i, mean my problem with the offense is not
that they. LOSE i, mean in the, end it is
my problem that they lose games Like Ohio, State, Oregon,
michigan but the offense doesn't even show, up LIKE i,
Know jed's busting our balls WHEN i was my balls
when they were rather the softy. Ones, NO i want
(18:31):
you to at least be competent, offensively and you were
not competent offensively in those.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Games And millons talked about the drop they, took.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
And part of it is that they really did themselves
no favors because they they really pumped the tires up
a little bit when they played the non conference. Schedule you, See,
davis they're throwing the ball up thirty points Against wazoo
in the fourth quarter and they're padding the.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Stats but every team does that every. Time every top
twenty team has those cakes In. September but they've scored sixty.
Points but that's not What i'm talking, About.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Dick i'm talking about when they're literally throwing the ball
in the fourth quarter To Armari evans on a slant
pottery and they're up thirty five points when they're still
throwing the ball up fifty AGAINST Uc. Davis my point
is that for people like, you and you was correct
in saying, this who say the drop from what you
did in those games to what you did against the
(19:23):
better teams on your, schedule the gap was. Sizable, well
part of the reason why the gap was sizable is
because you're running it up against those other. Teams if
you'd shut her down the way other teams, would maybe
it wouldn't look like such a big. Drop but, Look,
dick we don't even need to look at. That all
you have to do is look at what the offense
did in those games last. Year six points Against Ohio,
(19:47):
state seven points Against, michigan ten points Against, wisconsin fourteen
points Against.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Oregon that's what it got to be. Better that's WHY
i say it's a defensive. Team and BUT i.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Don't think that they That jetfish wants that No fish
wanted to be a defensive.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
Team, well he's an offensive mind to be a winner
in The Big.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
TEN i, mean, look you you got to play great, defense,
obviously but you also have to have some semblance of
a functioning, offense and in those games they.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
DIDN'T i think part Of it Is Big ten style,
though because other than, points other Than, indiana who did
you know put up a ton ton of? POINTS i,
mean everybody was seemed seen as a defensive team in
the top of The Big. Ten it's been like that
for one hundred, years, Right but this is a slobber
knocker defense first.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Conference but you've got to be, okay this is what's
frustrating me is that we can't just accept that and
say that's. Enough, no you've got to be able to
score points when you need. To Ohio state scored forty
eight AGAINST, ucla forty two Against, rutgers thirty eight Against Penn,
state forty two Against, minnesota thirty four Against, illinois twenty
seven Against. Michigan rush team a top twenty tame IN,
(20:54):
therew But michigan was top fifteen in the country when
they beat him At michigan last.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
YEAR i don't Think i've finished, though But i'm talk But, dick.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
No, question way, better way, better, Right and they've got
to be able to do. That Ohio state could do
that when they needed, to. Right Penn state when they're,
good can do that when they needed. To indiana could
do that when they needed To washington hasn't yet shown
Under jedfish that they can do.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
That that's, Right so it's year. Three let's see it.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Period i'm just looking at. IT i, mean just real.
Speaker 4 (21:26):
Quick the three elite Teams Ohio state, played they scored
fourteen to ten and, fourteen, right but.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
They also went twelve and. Two they did, okay and
they made the freaking. Playoff so again they were doing
something better and better than, us and they held us
to six points when they played. US i Want demon
Williams now in year number three AND i Want Jeed
fish in year number three to be able to at
least have a competent offense no matter who they, play,
Right and that is All i'm asking. For i'm not
(21:54):
asking when you Play Ohio state And michigan And Penn
state And oregon to hang. Fifty this isn't The pac twelve,
ANYMORE i get. It WHAT i want them to do
is not completely go away and be a ghost, offensively
AND i felt like too many times last year they
were a. Ghost, now, look there's reasons for. IT i get.
It it's here two of a rebuilding. SYSTEM i am
(22:17):
absolutely willing to give them a benefit of the.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Doubt because of what they.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Inherited but now the further away you get from, that
the less you get to use that the.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Best bet of the.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
Season put it in your.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Phone lock it, in all, right because The Washington husky
offense will go off the first month of the. Season
can we all agree Against, Wazoo Eastern Utah, State, minnesota
even AT, usc that's going to be a shootout because
that's WHAT usc. Plays, right their first conference home game Against,
iowa the over under is going to Because washington will
(22:50):
be averaging forty points a, game, right the over under
will be forty seven and a, half and that game's
going to be sixteen to.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Thirteen, yeah oh, yeah take that Is take. THAT i
mean Just i'm surprised you said. THAT i thought maybe
thirty five and a. Half, yeah honestly Against, iowa, WELL i,
MEAN i think there's some disagreement here on the show
about what You dubb does in those first ten games
of the. YEAR i think you might be a little
bit higher on him Than jackson. Is i'm kind of
maybe in between the two of. YOU i still think
(23:18):
that You dub has you, know a little bit to, prove.
RIGHT I, mean they've they've they've lost some good players
at running. Back This Quaid car, kid who is in
his second, year played last year Against. Purdue he's a
guy that in high school ran for eleven hundred yards
as a. Senior normally you wouldn't think eleven hundred yards
is that big a, deal but he only carried it eighty.
(23:40):
Times he averaged thirteen yards of carry in high. Schools
and With Jordan washington's, injury he's been turning a lot of.
Eyes and so this is a, Guy Quaid car number twenty,
one that might BE rb one by the first game
of the.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Year, oh and they need one.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Badly.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Now they've got some guys coming, in but we don't
know who's gonna step up and be that. Guy is
it going to be A, Car is it going to
be the The oregon Transfer?
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Lamar but there are things that we know. Of are
the that we think we know about this.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Team, one they only lose to elite competition at. Home,
man we can go back a half a decade. Now
they only lose to elite.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Competition twenty four last Since kalin, right, Right so that's.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
One.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Two DeMont williams shreds mediocre to bad, defenses can we
agree with that mediocre to Bed Devian's DeMont shreds and. Three,
unfortunately and this dates back To Chris, peterson they always
cough up a. Game they shouldn't cough up every single most.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Teams do, that, though most teams out of the elite
of college football do, that, RIGHT i, mean mid top
twenty five to the back end of the top twenty
five to the outside of the top twenty. Five isn't
that why they're mid top twenty five because eventually somebody
will lose a game they're not supposed to. DO i,
mean that's kind of what happens when you're just, okay right,
(24:59):
right and if you're, elite you don't do.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
That and that's GONNA i think that's gonna be the
difference between Whether washington makes the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Or doesn't make the.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Playoffs do they cough up a game to a team
that they shouldn't.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Lose, well THE, Usc, Iowa, nebraska And Penn state, games
those four to me are kind of the could go
either WAY fourk in the road, game do you go
four and, oh do you go three and one or
do you go two and? Two because if you go
two and two in those four, games you're not making
(25:30):
the playoff unless you take Out indiana And. OREGON i
don't think a nine and Three husky team is going
to make the. PLAYOFF a ten and Two husky team
has a much better. SHOT i mean nine and three
depending on who you. Beat obviously ten and two the same.
Thing but those four, GAMES, Usc, Iowa, Nebraska Penn. STATE
i think in those four you're asking these guys to
(25:52):
go three and. One no reason to lose To Michigan,
state no reason to lose To, purdue no reason to
lose To, minnesota and then you win the, Cupcakes Wazuo
Utah State, eastern THE wazu, game first game of the.
Year you lose that game and you set the tone
for the entire, year which is. Miserable don't do.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
That you have.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
If you want to make the, playoffs you gotta be
nine and one.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
In those ten.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
GAMES i agree you have to be nine and one
because then it gives you the opportunity with a win
Against indiana at, home and who knows how Great indiana
will be.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
Good they're really well, coached so they will be. Good
we don't know how great they will. Be but then
it gives you the opportunity where even if you were
to drop a game Against oregon at the, END i
don't think the playoff committee if you're ten and one
going To, OREGON i don't think the committee kicks you
out for losing at odds and in the last game
of the.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Season, well it depends on who you're fighting, with right
who else is. There i'm looking at last year week,
twelve because of the buys and all that, stuff there were, one,
two three teams in The Big ten nine and. Zero Ohio,
State oregon was eight and. ONE Usc michigan were both
(27:08):
seven and. Two iowa was six and three after nine,
games and go to week thirteen and check week. Thirteen
but the point is nine and one is really hard to.
DO i, Mean oregon was nine and, One, dick and
they were seventh In america last. Year if you're nine and,
one you're probably a top ten. TEAM usc was eight
(27:29):
and two and they were fifteenth last, year and they
were in the conversation at some. Point michigan was eight
and two and they were, Eighteen so you only had
after ten, Games. Dick last year in The Big, ten
there were three teams that were nine and. One are Better, Oregon,
indiana And ohio. State that's what you're ASKING. Uwb that's
what you're ASKING uwb this year
