And uh, Jerry, I has just been I've just been
told by Jackson Felts that you are headed east to
the World Cup Final. That is, that's got to be
pretty high on your list of sporting events you have
ever covered in your life.

Yes and no. I mean I don't know how.

Whatever, just a World Cup final.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
This age where I'm just like super overprivileged in my
sports career, I don't know that it means more to
me than like someone like the Olympic gold medal games
that I've seen, but it still will be pretty special
and it's something that I've never done before, and being
an old man, now, uh, there aren't very many things

I haven't done, so I'm excited. I just hope that,
like the air quality isn't the worst in the world
by the time that match starts.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
It's always those Canadian fires.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Man, they just invade the state, you know, don't they
know that they got to stop at the border and
and you know, like down their passport checked.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
They can just come on in whenever they want. I
don't understand this.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
But hey, what's your opinion of this country and how
it handled the World Cup? Maybe compared to the expectations
you had, because I know that you were fairly cynical
coming into this. Maybe not so much of how we
handled it, but just you know, kind of the state
of our union as it were.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
I mean, the state of our union is what.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
It is, and you know, that's that's.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Divided on political lines. I mean, I would say that
we aren't in as good of a place collectively as
we've been in a long time. However, we're still an amazing,
powerful nation and we know how to throw big events.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
And I just have to give.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
A shout out to number one, the fans. I mean,
I think I remember being sixteen years old in ninety
four and it was like this novelty of soccer coming
to the United States, and like there was a little
bit of a wow factor.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
And like, huh, maybe we should like get.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Involved with this. Thirty two years later, I think you
can a bigger chunk of our nation cares about that sport.
Then the dominant sports fans are willing to admit. Yeah,
but it's still way more casual than American football, you know,
our our our sporting passion. But uh, I've been impressed.
(03:24):
You know, I think that American hospitality has won out
over American politics. I think the quality of play has
been tremendous. The fact that all the superstars except for
Ronaldo who's old, showed up and showed out. Uh that
(03:44):
that's been wonderful. Uh. The final I mean, you got this, Uh,
messy in Argentina and they shouldn't be there except for
the fact that they have Messi and they are Argentina
and Spain. If you didn't pay attention to how Spain
has evolved over this run, it kind of all came
(04:05):
to a head in that semi final, and just how
they tore apart France, which is the most esthetically pleasing
team in the sport. France that Spain is the is
the best team in the world right now, but for
ninety minutes does that matter when Messi's on the field.
I don't know. So it's a fascinating final.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah, I mean, is Argentina just a team of destiny
because I mean they haven't led at the end of
ninety minutes one time, and yet they find the ways
to win. So I think one side of the coin
is saying they're the team of destiny. Man, you can't
beat them. It doesn't They're they're resput and you can't
kill them. They're gonna end up winning this or will

their struggles, which is what they have had for a
basically ninety minutes of every game before they turn it around,
will that finally cost him?
Speaker 5 (04:57):
You think, Yeah, it's interesting day because the way that
they play, the way that Spain plays, excuse me, they're
not likely going to be up two goals on them
when it gets down to that final thirty minutes. That
you know Spain displays is really defensive minded, control possession,

don't take too many chances, play on a string type
of game. And so I don't see them just like
dominating Argentina, and that's like kind of what you need
to do, Like you need to put Argentina down right,
Like there's a reason why the Chiefs and the two
Super Bowls that they've lost have gotten blown out. Like
(05:40):
you can't give Patrick Mahomes a chance in a money situation.
And we saw that when when Brady and the Bucks
and then obviously the Eagles did that to them, like
there was no hope. And like you, I think, to
beat Argentina, you have to do that. And I just
don't know that Vain wants to play, wants to make
(06:02):
the take the risks to play that style of game.
And so that's what makes it fascinating is that they
may seemingly dominate the whole match, but it might be
one neal coming down to the end, and we'll see
if there's more messy magic, and I kind of think
if you're a TV exec, that's exactly what you.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Want, no question about it. I hope you. I'm more
excited for you than it sounds like you are.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
So I'm gonna I'm fired up for you to make
the cross country trip to be at that World Cup final.
But do you think we expedited the path as the
United States to another one? Are we gonna have to
wait another thirty two years for another one? And furthermore,
did Seattle just lock up a spot? Like the next
time it's in the US, It's like we're not even

gonna have to worry whether Seattle gets selected.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Yeah, I think Seattle absolutely locked up a spot. And
I'm hoping that. Uh I that quarterfinal right like ill
in Dallas for for France Spain and and being in
Jerry World like that. Nothing beats that stadium, right like,
but nothing beat our venue. Uh. I mean, I think

Atlanta was somewhat comparable because Mercedes Benz is connected to
the city a little more than say what so Far
is or what Kansas City is or some of the
other places. Uh. So, I mean I tend to think,
uh and in mind the next time the World Cup comes,
(07:35):
we might have a new stadium. Like who knows, right,
I mean, that's a whole other issue with like what
this new ownership group is gonna want to do, What
this ownership group possibly could do kind of in navigating that,
But I would think that Seattle should be in play.
It almost seems like if they come back, Seattle is
guaranteed a quarterfinal. But I think they should be in

play for a semi final.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Oh that'll be all, no question about it. Well, you
brought up the ownership. I wanted to go there as well.
What's your what's your emotion? I mean, is it is
it more curious? Is it more concerned about this ownership
group taking over what has been as stable a franchise
as any in the NFL the last three decades?
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Curious? For sure. I'm not all that concerned. I mean,
I think one of the reasons that you buy the
Seahawks for nine point one six two million billion, uh,
and that that that one two that everybody keeps leaving off,
like that's twelve.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Million dollars guys, Like, let's not.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Right, Like, I mean, it's a lot of money. And
I think one of the reasons that you buy it
at that price is that it runs itself, right Like,
I mean, I think about uh Chuck in the business
side obviously, like uh John and Mike McDonald and everybody
in football ops. It's it's not something that you have
to fix, Like you just kind of let that thing

run itself. Maybe you have an innovative idea or two
about how to make more money down the road, But
I don't think they're gonna be fiddling with anything.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
And I think it's nice that you have.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
A principal owner. We'll find out. I'm assuming there are
others in the ownership group, just like looking at the
math myself, But you have a principal owner who's already
been a minority owner in the NFL seventy one years old.
Speaker 6 (09:27):
You know, you know both husband and.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Wife they're not they're not in here. Like it's more
like storing their money in a smart way and just
like enjoying sports and being able to pass that down
to their child, right Like, So I don't think that
there's gonna be a whole lot that's gonna get in
the way of like whether the Seahawks are able to

maximize this run that they're in or what they're going
to be down the road. I really think that the have.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
Become a model organization and I think.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
They're just going to like, let a classy thing stay
a classy thing.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Hey, Jerry Jackson Evans here, I'm curious exactly how you doing, brother?
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (10:14):
You know, we don't see ownership of NFL teams change
hands that often. But it struck me that Mike McDonald
and John Schneider were involved in this process and how
My question to you is how common is something like that?
And does that tell you anything about the decision to

move forward with the Cosla family in terms of having
more confidence in them.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yeah. I think that was a gift from Jody Allen, right,
because Jody has worked so well with John and with
Mike and having them like understand like that the key
to success here is alignment, you know, having people who
really understand that Northwest grit that it takes and that

sense of vision that you have to have. That's what's
going to make all of this work. And you can't
come in here and be like David Tepper, right, And
why would you want to come in here and be
like David Tepper? These are the Seahawks. This is not
the Panthers. They have been doing this thing at an
extraordinary level for a quarter of a century, right, like
(11:26):
a little bit longer than that, Like take it all
the way back to when Paul made the decision to
hire Mike Holmger, and ever since then the organization has
fundamentally risen from a middling organization to one of the
best in the NFL. And there have been some low
moments in there, a few, but there's been some low
moments in there, but there's been these extraordinary hives and
(11:48):
they've been able to do this at an elite level.
Three you might even consider it like depending on how
you want to chop it up, four different ways over
this century. And I think it was important to Jody
that that get maintained, you know. I mean, I think
as much as it was about getting as much money
(12:09):
as you possibly could, I think this was about, you know,
kind of like someone who's had a house that they
love and before they sell that house, they want to
make sure that whoever's buying it isn't going to tear
it down and try to build a mega mansion.
Speaker 9 (12:26):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (12:28):
And I think like all of the stuff that's trickled
out over the last few days that we're going to
learn a lot more in the weeks and months to come.
Speak to that that that she just didn't hand it
off to someone who doesn't understand what it's about.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Jerry Brewer joining us. Do you think you mentioned the stadium?
Speaker 4 (12:49):
I mean, yes, I think there will be definitely a
renovated stadium the next time the World Cup is here.
But well, the well, the coastals, you think just to
blow the puppy up at some point and build a
brand new one. And if they do, could this city,
should this city after what we just saw with the
World Cup host the Super Bowl?
Speaker 5 (13:08):
Well, I mean those are.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Big picture questions, right, Like.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
I think you know, when you when you look at
that price tag and you're trying to get a return
on an investment that's more than just emotional, and I
start to worry, like, I mean, how much more significant
can lack the value of a sports franchise get? But
we're almost at ten billion dollars for what's a top ten,
(13:33):
top twelve franchise in the NFL in terms of like valuation,
you know, like money that can be made. Yeah, you
do start to wonder, like well, what are the owner
new owners going to do to try to drive that
revenue year in.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
And year out, but then also drive.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
Like the revenue so that when they go to sell
it it's worth twelve or fifteen billion dollars if we
could possibly imagine that it could get that way, say
twenty thirty years from now at a new stadium is
always in play with like these people, like they always wanted.
But at the same time, like Loomenfield is in.
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Really good shape for its age.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
It is. It is aging fantastically right, Like I mean,
think of think of some actor George Clooney came to mind,
or think of some actress. I won't say anything in
risk being sexist, but like think of like someone famous
who you're like, damn, they're that old. Like I feel
that way about both Loomen and t Mobile Park and
(14:40):
the location of them, Like I would remind people the
location of it fundamentally, like made Seattle an amazing World
Cup venue, right, Like if that thing was over in Bellevue,
it wouldn't have been it wouldn't have hit the same
that thing was out in rent and it wouldn't have
hit the same it were, Uh, you know, if it
(15:01):
were if it were if you would like transposed to
the two stadiums who are right there next to each other,
and Looman was where t Mobile was, it still wouldn't
hit the same right. So I think in terms of location,
it's got to be there now in terms of like
do you want to tear it down and build it
back up?
Speaker 6 (15:19):
Do you want to is.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
There a way to renovate it where it could be
enclosed or whatever? Like, I think all of that stuff
is in the conversation for the next quarter century, like
of this franchise, right, and like this city and the
money that's in it. Yeah, it could host even more
major events. It could absolutely do well hosting a Super
(15:41):
Bowl now, It could absolutely do well hosting a Final
Four like it did way back in the day. And
those are things that I think people with some vision
in sports like have to consider. But then you also
have to consider, just like politically, how difficult it is
to get things done in this state.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
And do you want to fight some kind of war
that creates.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
These bitter feelings or do you want to leave leave
it as is, leave well enough alone and just worry
about the maintenance of the place. And uh, like those
are like those are questions that we can't ask until
like you're able to like understand like what the owner's
sentiments are, right, But it's something that's on my mind.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, because I mean, the Mariners are going are taking
long term approach of we're just gonna invest a few
million every year, right, We're gonna do the We're gonna
do the piece meal so over the course of thirty years,
we're going to have a renovated stadium. Now, they could
do that, or they could just say, no, what you know,
we're gonna we're gonna put five hundred million dollars in
right now and do one big renovation. Hey, Jerry, any
(16:51):
concern that a vote was not called for by Adam
Silver And is a recent Board of Governor's meeting or
is it just tay since the timeline is still the
end of the year.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
The timeline is still the end of the year, No worry.
Speaker 10 (17:00):
Yeah, we can't cover this process like we would cover
a game like there there's no use in giving a first,
a second, a third quarter assessment of what's happening because
it doesn't operate.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
In a linear path that way.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
Right, And as sports followers, sports fans, sports media we're
just inclined to want to do that and we need
something to talk about, and like we're really good at speculation,
Like that's why we do it, Like we're really good
at speculation. But in this matter, I mean, I think
my sense of things, I think they're like about fifty
(17:40):
percent of the way there, and I still think that
it's a strong possibility, Like I think it's eighty percent
possible that this we're going to have good news by
let's say November. I would cost the people who are
trying to nibble down the road and say, Okay, we're
going to have something by September, And if we don't
(18:01):
have something by September, I'm going to be mad. September
is two months away, guys, And all of these rich
people are on yachts right now and they're not gonna
get much work done and like not really going to
push the needle forward between the summer league and between
the end of the summer.
Speaker 6 (18:18):
So if you're like hoping that it's going to.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Be September, and if it's not announced by September, something's wrong.
I would push you more towards the winter. And it's
not kicking the can down the road as much as
it just is inevitable process. And the reason that you
have process like this is so that when it's time
to vote, there's no concern that it's going to pass, right,
(18:42):
like Adam Silver needs to build consensus and in a
lot of cases, remember we saw that with the Whole
Kings Chris Hansen, Seattle, Sacramento saying, like they'll tell you
it was unanimous when it wasn't. And ultimately, like a
lot of this process is like, hey, anybody who's gonna
(19:02):
get in the way of this passing needs to shut up.
And if there's a lot of you who have a
problem with this, well then we need to like further
convince you, right, like, and so we're gonna get to
a point where this is a formality, and like we're yeah,
like we do have to wait a little bit longer
(19:23):
than when we would like to wait, but like what
you're waiting on is for it to become a formality.
You're not waiting on like, oh my gosh, they're gonna vote.
Do they have seventy five percent? Like, when it's time
to vote, they will have the votes, that's right, And
like the process to get the votes, like Adam Silver
is whipping votes right now, and he does have like
(19:45):
a little young base of guys who uh you know,
and an og like James Dolan who doesn't quite understand
the math of splitting it thirty two ways. So you
got to convince them, and you gotta continue to work
that way. And then ownership, the potential ownership groups have
to continue to sweeten the pot in some way that

doesn't break them. That's what this process is all about.

summer we do this bracket contest. Well, we haven't done
many because of these things. Both Jackson and I have
decided to bring it back tomorrow, all right, and so
we have decided on We did a logo one a
few weeks back, and we decided to do the best
jerseys in we said, Seattle sports history. But we added

the Cougars because we felt bad for them and we
wouldn't want we didn't want Cougar fans texting.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
What about the Cougars, So we decided to add the Cougars.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
So we have eight jerseys that we have decided upon,
except a couple of them still are up in the
air on which of the team's jerseys were actually using
for the bracket tomorrow. So we'd love your take on these.
A couple here at four nine, four or five one.
We'll get Jackson Bevin's take. We'll get your take Jackson
Felts as well. So should I give the Seeds as well?

What we've decided upon or are we going to leave
the seed?

Okay, I think this kind of the ones that are

The concrete ones are. The number one seed is the
Seahawks OG uniforms.

Oh, the one that they brought back.

The one they brought back, the OG uniforms with the
silver helmets, the blue jerseys. Even though I'm a fan
of the white ones better than the blue ones, but
I think most people like the blue, the blue jersey.

That's the number one seed.

The number two seed is the Huskies Classic. When I
mean classic, I think everybody, every Husky fan knows. When
I say classic Husky uniform, what era does your brain
go back to?
Speaker 9 (23:36):
It's seventy five to ninety four. Yes, it's a.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Twenty year span where they had maybe the greatest uniforms
in college football. Gold pants, purple tops, gold helmets with
the white purple stripes down the leg easy with the
exactly the classic Huskies.

Seventy four to was it seventy five to ninety four?
Speaker 7 (23:55):
Yeah, twenty pretty much wore that exact combination exactly.

I mean it tweaked here and there, but for the
most part, and that's when they had an unbelievable amount
of success as well. It's basically the entire Don James
era that they that they wore those uniforms the number
three seed.

And here's where our first debate starts. We have a debate.

Between the original Sonics uniform which has what the little
star and and the cursive Sonics across the front, and
then the one that we won the championship in that
went to two championships in the Arc Sonics ARC Classic

And if anybody else, I would say, we are suggesting.

I have a preference to the Championship Erasnics uniforms. I
think those are unbelievably classic and those were that won
our greatest logo contest when we did the logo contest,
and I think it has a great chance of winning
the uniform contest as well, and I would like to
see the new Sonic uniforms be very very similar to those.

So Evans, what do you think, man? Do you have

You're looking at the the OG one versus the nineteen
seventies classic one.

With the you're talking about like within the Sonics, or
we're talking about the Seahawks versus then.

We're talking about this, Which Sonic jersey would you want?
On the brackets? And really quick, we should have established
for everybody for tomorrow. It's eight different teams.

Correct, We're not doing two Seahawks jerseys, two Mariners jersey
different teams.

One jersey per team.

That's why we're kind of just determining right now which
jersey we want for the Sonics.

a potential coaching move or what's going on.

So obviously yesterday horrible planning and horrible strategy by their
head coach yesterday that essentially cost them the game against Argentina.
I said afterwards, and we were kind of joking around
that he should even just quit in the postgame press
conference because he was clearly going to be fired in
the next twenty four to forty eight hours after their loss.

Not only has he not been fired, according to sources,
he is being retained by England through twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
Wow, So not for the next World Cup, necessarily.
Speaker 7 (35:08):
Through the next European Championship in twenty twenty eight. They
will keep him through that if a head coach costs
a team. In this case, he absolutely did a trip
to the World Cup final and the management, the FA,
the Football Association of England, is retaining him. It is
the biggest black eye and embarrassment on English soccer in

That's why you see a lot of coaches in World

It seems like he deserves the blame for the loss
in the semi finals. How much credit does he deserve
for them making it that far.

A fair bit, and that's on the other side.

It's a good point, but it's sort of is one
of those things where like how much of an impact
when you lose a team a semi final game versus
the credit of being a big part of the reason
they got there. And like, his tactics were good, the
players were good, they got the most out of all
of the weapons that they had, kind of on the

offensive end. But at the same point, like the impact
of just how influential he was in losing that, I
think outweighs the rest.

the World Cup Final. That is, that's got to be
pretty high on your list of sporting events you have
ever covered in your life.

Yes and no. I mean I don't know how.

Whatever, just a World Cup final.

This age where I'm just like super overprivileged in my
sports career, I don't know that it means more to
me than like someone like the Olympic gold medal games
that I've seen, but it still will be pretty special
and it's something that I've never done before, and being
an old man, now, uh, there aren't very many things

I haven't done, so I'm excited. I just hope that,
like the air quality isn't the worst in the world
by the time that match starts.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
It's always those Canadian fires.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Man, they just invade the state, you know, don't they
know that they got to stop at the border and
and you know, like down their passport checked.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
They can just come on in whenever they want. I
don't understand this.

But hey, what's your opinion of this country and how
it handled the World Cup? Maybe compared to the expectations
you had, because I know that you were fairly cynical
coming into this. Maybe not so much of how we
handled it, but just you know, kind of the state
of our union as it were.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
I mean, the state of our union is what.
Speaker 6 (02:18):
It is, and you know, that's that's.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Divided on political lines. I mean, I would say that
we aren't in as good of a place collectively as
we've been in a long time. However, we're still an amazing,
powerful nation and we know how to throw big events.
Speaker 6 (02:38):
And I just have to give.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
A shout out to number one, the fans. I mean,
I think I remember being sixteen years old in ninety
four and it was like this novelty of soccer coming
to the United States, and like there was a little
bit of a wow factor.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
And like, huh, maybe we should like get.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Involved with this. Thirty two years later, I think you
can a bigger chunk of our nation cares about that sport.
Then the dominant sports fans are willing to admit. Yeah,
but it's still way more casual than American football, you know,
our our our sporting passion. But uh, I've been impressed.
(03:24):
You know, I think that American hospitality has won out
over American politics. I think the quality of play has
been tremendous. The fact that all the superstars except for
Ronaldo who's old, showed up and showed out. Uh that
(03:44):
that's been wonderful. Uh. The final I mean, you got this, Uh,
messy in Argentina and they shouldn't be there except for
the fact that they have Messi and they are Argentina
and Spain. If you didn't pay attention to how Spain
has evolved over this run, it kind of all came
(04:05):
to a head in that semi final, and just how
they tore apart France, which is the most esthetically pleasing
team in the sport. France that Spain is the is
the best team in the world right now, but for
ninety minutes does that matter when Messi's on the field.
I don't know. So it's a fascinating final.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah, I mean, is Argentina just a team of destiny
because I mean they haven't led at the end of
ninety minutes one time, and yet they find the ways
to win. So I think one side of the coin
is saying they're the team of destiny. Man, you can't
beat them. It doesn't They're they're resput and you can't
kill them. They're gonna end up winning this or will
(04:48):
their struggles, which is what they have had for a
basically ninety minutes of every game before they turn it around,
will that finally cost him?
Speaker 5 (04:57):
You think, Yeah, it's interesting day because the way that
they play, the way that Spain plays, excuse me, they're
not likely going to be up two goals on them
when it gets down to that final thirty minutes. That
you know Spain displays is really defensive minded, control possession,
(05:19):
don't take too many chances, play on a string type
of game. And so I don't see them just like
dominating Argentina, and that's like kind of what you need
to do, Like you need to put Argentina down right,
Like there's a reason why the Chiefs and the two
Super Bowls that they've lost have gotten blown out. Like
(05:40):
you can't give Patrick Mahomes a chance in a money situation.
And we saw that when when Brady and the Bucks
and then obviously the Eagles did that to them, like
there was no hope. And like you, I think, to
beat Argentina, you have to do that. And I just
don't know that Vain wants to play, wants to make
(06:02):
the take the risks to play that style of game.
And so that's what makes it fascinating is that they
may seemingly dominate the whole match, but it might be
one neal coming down to the end, and we'll see
if there's more messy magic, and I kind of think
if you're a TV exec, that's exactly what you.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Want, no question about it. I hope you. I'm more
excited for you than it sounds like you are.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
So I'm gonna I'm fired up for you to make
the cross country trip to be at that World Cup final.
But do you think we expedited the path as the
United States to another one? Are we gonna have to
wait another thirty two years for another one? And furthermore,
did Seattle just lock up a spot? Like the next
time it's in the US, It's like we're not even
(06:47):
gonna have to worry whether Seattle gets selected.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Yeah, I think Seattle absolutely locked up a spot. And
I'm hoping that. Uh I that quarterfinal right like ill
in Dallas for for France Spain and and being in
Jerry World like that. Nothing beats that stadium, right like,
but nothing beat our venue. Uh. I mean, I think

Atlanta was somewhat comparable because Mercedes Benz is connected to
the city a little more than say what so Far
is or what Kansas City is or some of the
other places. Uh. So, I mean I tend to think,
uh and in mind the next time the World Cup comes,
(07:35):
we might have a new stadium. Like who knows, right,
I mean, that's a whole other issue with like what
this new ownership group is gonna want to do, What
this ownership group possibly could do kind of in navigating that,
But I would think that Seattle should be in play.
It almost seems like if they come back, Seattle is
guaranteed a quarterfinal. But I think they should be in

play for a semi final.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Oh that'll be all, no question about it. Well, you
brought up the ownership. I wanted to go there as well.
What's your what's your emotion? I mean, is it is
it more curious? Is it more concerned about this ownership
group taking over what has been as stable a franchise
as any in the NFL the last three decades?
Speaker 5 (08:19):
Curious? For sure. I'm not all that concerned. I mean,
I think one of the reasons that you buy the
Seahawks for nine point one six two million billion, uh,
and that that that one two that everybody keeps leaving off,
like that's twelve.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Million dollars guys, Like, let's not.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Right, Like, I mean, it's a lot of money. And
I think one of the reasons that you buy it
at that price is that it runs itself, right Like,
I mean, I think about uh Chuck in the business
side obviously, like uh John and Mike McDonald and everybody
in football ops. It's it's not something that you have
to fix, Like you just kind of let that thing

run itself. Maybe you have an innovative idea or two
about how to make more money down the road, But
I don't think they're gonna be fiddling with anything.
Speaker 6 (09:10):
And I think it's nice that you have.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
A principal owner. We'll find out. I'm assuming there are
others in the ownership group, just like looking at the
math myself, But you have a principal owner who's already
been a minority owner in the NFL seventy one years old.

You know, you know both husband and.

Wife they're not they're not in here. Like it's more
like storing their money in a smart way and just
like enjoying sports and being able to pass that down
to their child, right Like, So I don't think that
there's gonna be a whole lot that's gonna get in
the way of like whether the Seahawks are able to

maximize this run that they're in or what they're going
to be down the road. I really think that the have.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
Become a model organization and I think.
Speaker 5 (10:04):
They're just going to like, let a classy thing stay
a classy thing.
Speaker 8 (10:08):
Hey, Jerry Jackson Evans here, I'm curious exactly how you doing, brother?

Uh.
Speaker 8 (10:14):
You know, we don't see ownership of NFL teams change
hands that often. But it struck me that Mike McDonald
and John Schneider were involved in this process and how
My question to you is how common is something like that?
And does that tell you anything about the decision to
(10:34):
move forward with the Cosla family in terms of having
more confidence in them.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yeah. I think that was a gift from Jody Allen, right,
because Jody has worked so well with John and with
Mike and having them like understand like that the key
to success here is alignment, you know, having people who
really understand that Northwest grit that it takes and that
(11:03):
sense of vision that you have to have. That's what's
going to make all of this work. And you can't
come in here and be like David Tepper, right, And
why would you want to come in here and be
like David Tepper? These are the Seahawks. This is not
the Panthers. They have been doing this thing at an
extraordinary level for a quarter of a century, right, like
(11:26):
a little bit longer than that, Like take it all
the way back to when Paul made the decision to
hire Mike Holmger, and ever since then the organization has
fundamentally risen from a middling organization to one of the
best in the NFL. And there have been some low
moments in there, a few, but there's been some low
moments in there, but there's been these extraordinary hives and
(11:48):
they've been able to do this at an elite level.
Three you might even consider it like depending on how
you want to chop it up, four different ways over
this century. And I think it was important to Jody
that that get maintained, you know. I mean, I think
as much as it was about getting as much money
(12:09):
as you possibly could, I think this was about, you know,
kind of like someone who's had a house that they
love and before they sell that house, they want to
make sure that whoever's buying it isn't going to tear
it down and try to build a mega mansion.
Speaker 9 (12:26):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (12:28):
And I think like all of the stuff that's trickled
out over the last few days that we're going to
learn a lot more in the weeks and months to come.
Speak to that that that she just didn't hand it
off to someone who doesn't understand what it's about.

Jerry Brewer joining us. Do you think you mentioned the stadium?
Speaker 4 (12:49):
I mean, yes, I think there will be definitely a
renovated stadium the next time the World Cup is here.
But well, the well, the coastals, you think just to
blow the puppy up at some point and build a
brand new one. And if they do, could this city,
should this city after what we just saw with the
World Cup host the Super Bowl?
Speaker 5 (13:08):
Well, I mean those are.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Big picture questions, right, Like.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
I think you know, when you when you look at
that price tag and you're trying to get a return
on an investment that's more than just emotional, and I
start to worry, like, I mean, how much more significant
can lack the value of a sports franchise get? But
we're almost at ten billion dollars for what's a top ten,
(13:33):
top twelve franchise in the NFL in terms of like valuation,
you know, like money that can be made. Yeah, you
do start to wonder, like well, what are the owner
new owners going to do to try to drive that
revenue year in.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
And year out, but then also drive.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
Like the revenue so that when they go to sell
it it's worth twelve or fifteen billion dollars if we
could possibly imagine that it could get that way, say
twenty thirty years from now at a new stadium is
always in play with like these people, like they always wanted.
But at the same time, like Loomenfield is in.
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Really good shape for its age.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
It is. It is aging fantastically right, Like I mean,
think of think of some actor George Clooney came to mind,
or think of some actress. I won't say anything in
risk being sexist, but like think of like someone famous
who you're like, damn, they're that old. Like I feel
that way about both Loomen and t Mobile Park and
(14:40):
the location of them, Like I would remind people the
location of it fundamentally, like made Seattle an amazing World
Cup venue, right, Like if that thing was over in Bellevue,
it wouldn't have been it wouldn't have hit the same
that thing was out in rent and it wouldn't have
hit the same it were, Uh, you know, if it
(15:01):
were if it were if you would like transposed to
the two stadiums who are right there next to each other,
and Looman was where t Mobile was, it still wouldn't
hit the same right. So I think in terms of location,
it's got to be there now in terms of like
do you want to tear it down and build it
back up?
Speaker 6 (15:19):
Do you want to is.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
There a way to renovate it where it could be
enclosed or whatever? Like, I think all of that stuff
is in the conversation for the next quarter century, like
of this franchise, right, and like this city and the
money that's in it. Yeah, it could host even more
major events. It could absolutely do well hosting a Super

Bowl now, It could absolutely do well hosting a Final
Four like it did way back in the day. And
those are things that I think people with some vision
in sports like have to consider. But then you also
have to consider, just like politically, how difficult it is
to get things done in this state.
Speaker 6 (16:02):
And do you want to fight some kind of war
that creates.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
These bitter feelings or do you want to leave leave
it as is, leave well enough alone and just worry
about the maintenance of the place. And uh, like those
are like those are questions that we can't ask until
like you're able to like understand like what the owner's
sentiments are, right, But it's something that's on my mind.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, because I mean, the Mariners are going are taking
long term approach of we're just gonna invest a few
million every year, right, We're gonna do the We're gonna
do the piece meal so over the course of thirty years,
we're going to have a renovated stadium. Now, they could
do that, or they could just say, no, what you know,
we're gonna we're gonna put five hundred million dollars in
right now and do one big renovation. Hey, Jerry, any
(16:51):
concern that a vote was not called for by Adam
Silver And is a recent Board of Governor's meeting or
is it just tay since the timeline is still the
end of the year.

I would push you more towards the winter. And it's

you're waiting on is for it to become a formality.
You're not waiting on like, oh my gosh, they're gonna vote.
Do they have seventy five percent? Like, when it's time
to vote, they will have the votes, that's right, And
like the process to get the votes, like Adam Silver
is whipping votes right now, and he does have like

a little young base of guys who uh you know,
and an og like James Dolan who doesn't quite understand
the math of splitting it thirty two ways. So you
got to convince them, and you gotta continue to work
that way. And then ownership, the potential ownership groups have
to continue to sweeten the pot in some way that

summer we do this bracket contest. Well, we haven't done
many because of these things. Both Jackson and I have
decided to bring it back tomorrow, all right, and so
we have decided on We did a logo one a
few weeks back, and we decided to do the best
jerseys in we said, Seattle sports history. But we added

the Cougars because we felt bad for them and we
wouldn't want we didn't want Cougar fans texting.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
What about the Cougars, So we decided to add the Cougars.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
So we have eight jerseys that we have decided upon,
except a couple of them still are up in the
air on which of the team's jerseys were actually using
for the bracket tomorrow. So we'd love your take on these.

We'll get Jackson Bevin's take. We'll get your take Jackson
Felts as well. So should I give the Seeds as well?

Seahawks OG uniforms.

The one they brought back, the OG uniforms with the
silver helmets, the blue jerseys. Even though I'm a fan
of the white ones better than the blue ones, but
I think most people like the blue, the blue jersey.

The number two seed is the Huskies Classic. When I
mean classic, I think everybody, every Husky fan knows. When
I say classic Husky uniform, what era does your brain
go back to?

It's seventy five to ninety four. Yes, it's a.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Twenty year span where they had maybe the greatest uniforms
in college football. Gold pants, purple tops, gold helmets with
the white purple stripes down the leg easy with the
exactly the classic Huskies.
Speaker 9 (23:51):
Seventy four to was it seventy five to ninety four?
Speaker 7 (23:55):
Yeah, twenty pretty much wore that exact combination exactly.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
I mean it tweaked here and there, but for the
most part, and that's when they had an unbelievable amount
of success as well. It's basically the entire Don James
era that they that they wore those uniforms the number
three seed.

And here's where our first debate starts. We have a debate.

Between the original Sonics uniform which has what the little
star and and the cursive Sonics across the front, and
then the one that we won the championship in that
went to two championships in the Arc Sonics ARC Classic

And if anybody else, I would say, we are suggesting.

I have a preference to the Championship Erasnics uniforms. I
think those are unbelievably classic and those were that won
our greatest logo contest when we did the logo contest,
and I think it has a great chance of winning
the uniform contest as well, and I would like to
see the new Sonic uniforms be very very similar to those.

You're looking at the the OG one versus the nineteen
seventies classic one.

With the you're talking about like within the Sonics, or

We're talking about this, Which Sonic jersey would you want?
On the brackets? And really quick, we should have established

It's the red sleeveless turn forward the clock.

The only thing I don't like about the City Connect
Jerseys is the black pants pants.

I think I leaned towards the seventy seven og white

And we're talking about the home jersey that they were

and then in eighty one they made this slight alteration
adding an additional blue outline along Mariners that you didn't like.

It didn't look too noisy.

It's too noisy exactly. So we're talking about Rupert Jones
Seattle marriage.

Yeah, and well, and I'm saying, like I do, I
do think that like, if we're going to do that
those original whites without the extra blue piping on the lettering,
that's like the most iconic. I am partial to the
baby blue Roadies that they wore, though.

Like in the ages back then, the ones just like Seattle.
Speaker 8 (28:48):
Yeah, and and it's like baseball had this stretch where
everybody had like a baby blue alternate and they all
looked awesome. Though you know, obviously the Royals asked their team,
but like the Phillies had them, the Cardinals had them.
There were so many teams that had the and and
I see it, and it's just something there's something real

nice about it. But I think if you have to
put one in the bracket, is that original Homewhite.

I'm a big fan of black jerseys. I like it
when the Huskies go black occasionally. Not all the time,
but I like it when they go when they go
black occasionally. So the Sounders pitch black is a five seed.
The Kraken Whites are the sixth seed. I like the
white jersey's more than I like the white jerseys.

Once all right, We're going with the Kracking Whites seven seed. Now,
I'm not a cougar but when I think classic Cougar uniform.

Yeah, I think snowball, I think script Cougar's on the helmet.
I think Washington stayed across the chest. That's the Cougar
uniform that I think. And they had a hell of
a lot of success during that run with that uniform. Now,
Cougar fans, you can four nine four or five one
us and saying, oh, that's a terrible uniform, or I'd
rather do the Alex Brink uniform or the Jason Gesser

uniform or what have you. But you know, four nine
four or five one, that to me seems like the
classic Cougar.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
Here's what I like about that one, And I actually
like the Cougar's motif. I think that that red with
the silver and the white plays really really well. But
that version had, like the Matt silver helmets, they weren't
sparkly helmets. They were a little bit more subdued. There's
just a little bit more of a rugged look to

it than everything is so shiny now. And I kind
of like that those weren't.

You know, what I think is really good that they
wear more recently. I think they're like gray jerseys are
pretty sweet looking.

Like those medium Cougar medium gray Cougar jerseys, they look
are pretty good.

And then the eight seed is going to be.

We can either go the Storm green, Classic green, or
my favorite Storm jersey's always been the black. The rebel
black jersey I think is the best looking Storm jersey.
It's not the one everybody thinks of when they think Storm,
but the Sounders. We're going with the Sounders black one.
That's not what people think of when they think we're
looking at the best jersey.

So you get to pick the Sounders, pitch black.

I'm picking the Sounders Rebel black jersey, all right, Rebel
black jersey. So so we really are a debate over
the of the Sonics and the Cougars.

We are getting horribly outvoted to Jackson, which one, Dick
Arc jersey is what everybody is going with on the
test line. So it looks like that that championship jersey,
I think we had the one with the arc that's

Jackson Felt's making himself a national name and now he
comes on as our expert here.

First of all, you have some news on England and
a potential coaching move or what's going on.
Speaker 7 (34:33):
So obviously yesterday horrible planning and horrible strategy by their
head coach yesterday that essentially cost them the game against Argentina.
I said afterwards, and we were kind of joking around
that he should even just quit in the postgame press
conference because he was clearly going to be fired in
the next twenty four to forty eight hours after their loss.
(34:55):
Not only has he not been fired, according to sources,
he is being retained by England through twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
Wow, So not for the next World Cup, necessarily.
Speaker 7 (35:08):
Through the next European Championship in twenty twenty eight. They
will keep him through that if a head coach costs
a team. In this case, he absolutely did a trip
to the World Cup final and the management, the FA,
the Football Association of England, is retaining him. It is
the biggest black eye and embarrassment on English soccer in

a long one.

What are they saying on London Sports Radio right now?

So what they're saying, according to our good friend Adam
Nathan is he was given an amazing human being high Adam.
He is being retained because he was weirdly given a
contract extension before the World.

Cup before he did anything.

Big contract extension and there is so much money that
paying Thomas Tuckle out through twenty twenty eight is less
than the alternative of just keeping him on through the
next European championsteresting.

So the potential is there, especially if they don't do
well in the European Championship, that he'll get fired in
twenty twenty eight and they'll find a new Gexers Poachatino
has only had.

Two years to prepare right.

But that's not often. You want a full four years.

That's why you see a lot of coaches in World
Cups get fired right after their teams are out so
they can move on to the next game. Germany the
day after already moved on to their next guy, unique case,
one of the best coaches of all time, but teams
and nations love to do that.

England's not so clearly.
Speaker 8 (36:40):
It seems like he deserves the blame for the loss
in the semi finals. How much credit does he deserve
for them making it that far.
Speaker 9 (36:47):
A fair bit, and that's on the other side.

It's a good point, but it's sort of is one
of those things where like how much of an impact
when you lose a team a semi final game versus
the credit of being a big part of the reason
they got there. And like, his tactics were good, the
players were good, they got the most out of all
of the weapons that they had, kind of on the

offensive end. But at the same point, like the impact
of just how influential he was in losing that, I
think outweighs the rest.

That's gonna be crazy.

Well we'll talk, well, we'll get into the nuts and
bolts of the Argentina Spain game coming up tomorrow at
this time, but we're gonna take a quick time out
get a top of our headlines. And we asked Jerry
Brewer when he was on. I said, give me a city,
give me two cities. Give me the city that Lebron
is going, and give me the city that Lebron should
go in your opinion. And he gave us two cities.
