I am doing great. Yeah, I'm ready to talk about
this stuff.

Man, There's a lot to talk about. Why don't we
start at the top with Terry and Arnold story. This
is a guy that's facing some pretty heavy accusation. As
you know, was left over the Lions a couple weeks ago.
Hawks brought him in for a look see and apparently
that was enough multiple reports that he's about to sign
with the Hawks. What's your take on this situation? Man?
Speaker 3 (01:13):
You know, I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Over time, let me give you a little bit of
history lesson, right, Like when I first.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Came to Seattle.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
It was six the year the year after the Seahawks
went to their first Super Bowl, and it was home
running Ruskell right, and Russell was, mister, you got to
be the ultimate character guy. You can never have gotten
into any trouble whatsoever if you wanted to play for
the Seahawks. And you know, I mean, over time, that
team got a little too soft, right, and we didn't

stop caring so much about h character guys, and we
started thinking more along the lines of football character.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
When when Pete and John took over, and I mean,
you know, we could we could.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Sit here for like an entire segment and talk about
the guys that they got.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Wrong on that.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
But for the most part, I would argue that John
and Pete and now John by himself win more than
they lose when it comes to these situations of guys
who are a little on the on the iffy side
in terms of whether they made a mistake or whether
they're considered a bad guy. I am gonna put my

faith in John Schneider in this initially, I from what
I know about this Terry and Arnold, And mind you,
I'm not a private investigator, and it's not like I
have gone out and like done. You know, there's not
going to be a report in the Athletic that Jerry
Brewer is one of the byelines on about like all
the stuff involved with Arnold. But looking at the report

and what I know based on it now, it seems
like it's just like one of these really stupid macho
moves that somebody makes, right, like you think someone did
something to you and then you go all vigilanti and
trying to get like whatever your form of justice is.
I'm trying to think. I can't remember the cornerback who

came from Washington and had really good numbers in a
small a period of time and was big, like like
like you know the post Richard Sherman era Sehaus When
they were trying to get the next term. There was
a guy that got who had from like like in Florida,
had some gun related incident over some nonsense. They decided

to well, they they traded for him, and then he
got in trouble, and then he got cleared of the trouble.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Maybe got a one game suspension or whatever, and he
was fine the rest of the way.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
In terms of character, he just couldn't play anymore.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, yeah, exactly so. And I remember that, and I
was like, man, like, that's right on, that's right on
the edge there.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
And I think in general he was just a guy
who made a mistake. I do not like eight counts,
you know, hanging over a guy's head. Uh, but let's
talk about the football player that Arnold is. I mean, hey,
if if you think, if you're if your guys have
vetted this properly, and you think he's going to get
off or it's going to be more of misdemeanor or

something where he's going to be able to play.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Man, you you got a cornerback.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
You got two star cornerbacks again, you know, like this
guy can really play. And this guy, like in terms
of his football mind and mentality, I think he would
translate really well to a Mike McDonald's system. Him and
Witherspoon together. You're you're in the middle. We got to
remember you're in the middle of like the biggest arms

race I think we've seen in the NFC West since
Harball versus Pete Carroll, you know, back in those days
a dozen years ago, and the Rams, the Rams have
loaded up, and uh, everybody's looking at you and saying,
you did nothing during this offseason, and you're looking at
this situation and you're saying, hey, we've done nothing wrong

by NFL rules. Now, you could argue that the NFL,
when a guy has a case hanging over him like this,
it shouldn't be a team like the Lions have to
release them for PR reasons and that becomes a free
for all for the rest of the league because we
don't care about those PR reasons. You could say, like, yeah,
the NFL should do something about this, should just like
(05:26):
put all these guys on a no touch list, But
they don't do it that way. And I think it's
a worthy risk for the Seahawks to take. And if
they get twelve games out of this guy this year
and no problems, it's taking the best defense in the
NFL to another level. And you know, from a football standpoint,
(05:50):
I mean, it's exactly the risk you want to take
when you've got one of the best locker room cultures
if not the best locker room culture in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
You're right.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
I mean it breaks down to a risk ward reward proposition.
And if the only risk is that you might get
a little bad press from the minority of people that
don't like this move, but what other risk is there?
He's either gonna play because he's clear, or he's not
gonna play. Why do you think the Lions let him go?
Because I'm reading a lot. I'm seeing some videos out
there now going Wow, the Lions probably shouldn't have let
(06:22):
this dude go. Maybe they were a little knee jerky
on letting this guy go based upon what kind of
value he had on the open market.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
I don't blame the Lions that much, Dick, because I
think that's the culture, right. Like I think if the
shoe were on the other foot and it was Arnold
was a Seahawk and this had happened while he was
a Seahawk, there'd be so much pressure from people like, Hey,
I mean, it's like, what is your team really all about?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Are you just gonna let this guy go?
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I think it's a totally different equation when it's your
team and it's just fun it's different. And then you know,
the thing with the Seahawks is like, hey, if he
steps like not one foot out of line, like a
half a step out of line, they cut him. They
haven't lost anything, like in terms of real money. And

that's you know, I mean, I hate to look at
it in just.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
That cold way.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
And everybody knows me, right, Like Alisa and I used
to have a lot of fun because I'm like the softy,
you know, emotional one, and like Elisa is like the
you know, toughing up buttercup, you know, kind of person.
And we used to go back and forth about this
all the time. But I think just like fifteen more years,
a dozen more years of covering sports, covering pro sports,

covering football, like I I just say, hey, look, don't
hate the player, hate the game, and like, this is
the way the system.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Is set up.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
And look, hey, you're in a super Bowl window. And
if you think this guy can help you without like
damaging anything that you got going on, I know that
they have have vetted this about as well as you
can possibly vet it. And once again, it's there's a
difference between you know, this being a guy like JSN

who just signed one hundred and forty million dollar contract
and what you have on the line versus this is
a guy who's coming in for Kenny's on the dollar
based on what he's actually worth in his value.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
And hey, last I looked at their roster, which is
pretty damn good.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Like you could sit there and look and say, I
wish they had like one more frontline talented cornerback. Wish
they were a little more experienced and talented and healthier
running back. Right, you might have just solved one of those.
And if he doesn't work out, you had already planned
to do this thing without him. And so from the
Seahawks once again, it's it's a nobody hurt proposition. Now,
(08:52):
if there's more to this story and they look really bad,
it reflects.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Badly on them. But how long is Johnder been around.
I mean it's seventeen years, eighteen years. He's built he's
built enough equity if he needs to take a hit
on this.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
And like everybody else in the league, you know, if
the Seahawks didn't do it, John Harball, you know, super
Bowl winning coach who's now got all.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
The juice in New York, he was gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
And I Just think if there's ever a situation where
a guy can come in with a questionable mark against
his history and.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
You want to reform the guy.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
And also get the best out of him as a player.
Like I trust John in that front office, and I
trust Mike McDonald and what he's got going on to
keep this guy on up and up, and.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
You know, hey, and I look at.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
It, guys, Hey, if if the Rams are healthy and
the Seahawks are healthy at the end of the year,
like you can't win, You're probably not gonna win shootouts
against these dudes, right, like we'll like those are probably
gonna be ten to seven games, And this gives you
a better chance I think against Stafford uh And and

that offense if everybody's healthy.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
So, hey, don't hate the player. I hates the game.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
And let's see what this guy gott's let's suit this
guy's got.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Totally I agree with your point of the Lions. It's
totally different when it happens inside your house because they
would have had to have bor the brunt of everything.
The immediate reaction. Yeah, this guy struggles down the road.
I mean the risk in keeping him would have been
way bigger for the Lions than the risk and signing
him for the Seahawks, no doubt about that. But Jerry
Brewer's with us, and Jerry the Mariners got to win today.
(10:39):
Manage one run. Typically that's a game they lose. But
Logan Gilbert the bullpen got the job done five out
before a massive series with the Astros tomorrow. Col Umerson's
down in triple A. Kyl Raley's on pace to have
the lowest qualified batting average and the history of modern
day baseball. It's a total, complete disaster at T Mobile Park.

How do you assess what's going on and how this
thing will look maybe differently over the offseason if this continues.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
It's crazy when it's just a complete disaster. Do you
finally what a game at Yecke Stadium the stave off
a sleep?
Speaker 3 (11:18):
But I get it.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
Here's what Let's start with Colts right and JP's not
back right, so this is going to be a revos
just do whatever situation.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Because yeah, yeah, exactly right.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
You just think that that hey, he's just been so bad,
we need to send him down, get his head right.
I think that Colt Emerson, guys, is the most important piece.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
You know, below the.

Julio cow level of like sustained competitiveness for this team.
I would have told you right when he was about.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
To be called up. If you ask me, hey, Jerry,
what do you think of of cold Emerson?
Speaker 4 (12:00):
And this is someone who's kids used to love going
to Everett to watch him play, I would have told you, like,
I think that in terms of as a pure baseball player.
I'm not saying that he's got the freakish talent that
Julio sometimes exhibits.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Or the importance you know that a catcher who's got
someth like how normally is.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
But I would tell you that three years from now,
if you ask me, like, who is the best most
consistent mariner, I would tell you the cold Emerson.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
I think he's.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
A megastar, if not a super duper star waiting to happen.
And I hope that they haven't like messed him up
in this situation. I do think that he's the kind
of guy who can take this struggle, take this emotion,
come back like let's not forget you know how bad
Mike Mike Trout struggled his first time around. Then he
(12:56):
came back and he was like MVP level, right, and
like Cold doesn't have Mike Trout talent. But I think,
you know, if you had to ask me, like who's
gonna make sixth All Star appearances six more over the
next twelve years, I would say Cold right there with
(13:17):
with with Julia. So yeah, like it's a it's a
big loss. It's definitely a big loss.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Does this series against Houston mean anything to you or
have you kind of packed it in on this baseball team?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
I pretty much packed it in on the team. But
you're going head to head with the squad and if
you can, you know, if you find a way to
sweep them, which I mean, the Astros don't impress me.
The sexast Rangers have just been a five hundred team
pretty much like every damn day the entire year, so
they don't impress me. There's still a chance that you
(13:55):
could catch some people in the division, right, like the
wild card thing. You know, the whole damn American League
is in the wildcard race, so you just don't know
how that's going to shake out. But like, this is
go time, This is go time. I don't think you
can I don't think they can even drop the series
to Houston, right, Like I mean, I think you're you're
at that point. Now, what where you have to be?
(14:19):
You have to pay six hundred baseball just to get
to five hundred, right, just the eighty one wins. And
I don't see a team right now capable of play
in six hundred baseball. And then now now you've got
nothing at shortstop, right, I mean it's just, Hey, I like,
I love Leo's postseason moment last year. I think he's

a great little role player. You know, he's a four
A player, right, And he's gonna have to hold it
down because the guy that you gave what an ninety
five one hundred million dollars too, isn't ready and and
and JP has been hurt or disaster all year himself,
so things are pretty dire. Cal was a great stand

up dude, but like, hey, it's great that you face
the media for fifteen minutes, but man, can you hit
two twenty instead of one fifty.
Speaker 3 (15:11):

And then my thing now, guys is like, hey, the
big move that you made in the off seasons, you
made the trade for Brendan Donovan, and he should be
feeling good enough now to like have a moment and
Julio's starting to heat up a little bit there, and
Crazy Randy is going to hit the ball if nothing else,

and Naylor you see some signs like can like the
four of those guys get together and like just make
the offense where they score five runs more than once
a series, Like that's the hope, but like they're more
likely guys to fall even further behind and then have
some great September and then they end the year at

seventy nine and eighty three and they're like, hey, look
we showed a little bit of progress.

Everything's okay.

Like that that, I mean, they have to acknowledge the
fact that they have raised the floor.

They don't have just disastrous seasons anymore every four years, right,

Gilbert High. You're about to bring in you know, Kate
Anderson and Sloan uh maybe a little bit later, and

you're you're hoping that those guys are like bigger stars.

And the other ones and so like that that.

Initial window like that, you know they've done a good
job of like hey, it'll they'll never just be a
disaster anymore. But you already missed like one portion of
this window. Uh, just fooling around making bad.

Decisions on the cheap and not having enough tension in
the organization. Like I'm a big believer in.

Organizational alignment, softy, but I am.

pretty hard last week. But the other end of that,
which people I would assume like validly pointed out was like, hey,
Dan has to do a lot of bidding for the
front office. They kind of just tell him what to do.
And I want a manager who's got the capacity and

the power and the juice and all that to be
able to to be able to stand up and say
no to those guys and like manage on field, like
they need.

A marriage of like all this brainy.

Stuff they do and a man and and and a
manager who just like is, hey, I know baseball. Now,
I'll listen to this, and you can give me all
these damn spreadsheets and everything. And every once in a while,
I'm gonna wipe my backside with this, but I'm also
going to look at it too.

And like that. That's that's the tension, right and h
the photo doesn't want that because he doesn't want.

A social situation, but they need tension in this organization.
And every once in a while that means, hey, every.

Got to come in and like the GM and the
manager got to like cuss at each other. They just

and and and you know, I mean that was like management, uh, GM, coach,

want to get carried away with it, but that tension matters.

into it and then had to like come home and

Other, Like you need more than just one viewpoint. And
it's very clear to me. I do not think that
the Poto should be fired, but it is very clear
to me that just this one way of doing things
has run its course. And what are you going to do,

can be better? Or do you just want to win
the fifty four percent World Series?

sleeping on the defending Super Bowl champions.

team last year with better Super Bowl odds than the Seahawks.
Nobody thinks they can repeat. Sam Darnold goes to arguably
the best division in football, has a new coach, a
new coordinator, a new old line, a battle line, and

he was a number one, and again the offensive line was.

I think they were ranked like thirtieth.

So Darnold four teams four years for the first time
in years, same head coach, same locker room, same culture,
same city, same house. Now he's married, same number one receiver,

That kind of continuity to me seems like a huge benefit.
The other thing about Seattle, they're not aging out of this.
They're older, players don't get hurt much, and their best

And yet they're kind of considered in their own division.

Well, I mean, I get it. The Rams went out
and got Miles Garrett and probably are going to get
Aaron Donald and they were neck and neck the whole year.

but I think the Seahawks should absolutely be the second
favorite to win the Super Bowl, right right? Yeah, I
mean it's tough to repeat, but these I have everything
in place.

There is no more buttoned up ship in all the
NFL than this football team right here.

Do you notice this too, that Clint Kubiak has become
an even better offensive coordinator since he took the job
with the Raiders than he was now. I'm hearing the
term he was a play calling genius. He was a
play calling wizard. For people that are saying that the
Seahawks are gonna fade this year because they lost Clint Kubiak,

I thought Clint did a good job last year.

But at any point did we say during.

The season, Wow, we cannot afford to lose Clint Kubiak.
This guy is freaking McVay Shanahan elite. No, but that's

team's not gonna go back to the Superbowl.

But the Seahawks say, we feel comfortable we're gonna sign
the guy.

I am doing great. Yeah, I'm ready to talk about
this stuff.

Man, There's a lot to talk about. Why don't we
start at the top with Terry and Arnold story. This
is a guy that's facing some pretty heavy accusation. As
you know, was left over the Lions a couple weeks ago.
Hawks brought him in for a look see and apparently
that was enough multiple reports that he's about to sign
with the Hawks. What's your take on this situation? Man?
Speaker 3 (01:13):
You know, I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Over time, let me give you a little bit of
history lesson, right, Like when I first.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Came to Seattle.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
It was six the year the year after the Seahawks
went to their first Super Bowl, and it was home
running Ruskell right, and Russell was, mister, you got to
be the ultimate character guy. You can never have gotten
into any trouble whatsoever if you wanted to play for
the Seahawks. And you know, I mean, over time, that
team got a little too soft, right, and we didn't
(01:42):
stop caring so much about h character guys, and we
started thinking more along the lines of football character.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
When when Pete and John took over, and I mean,
you know, we could we could.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Sit here for like an entire segment and talk about
the guys that they got.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Wrong on that.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
But for the most part, I would argue that John
and Pete and now John by himself win more than
they lose when it comes to these situations of guys
who are a little on the on the iffy side
in terms of whether they made a mistake or whether
they're considered a bad guy. I am gonna put my
(02:23):
faith in John Schneider in this initially, I from what
I know about this Terry and Arnold, And mind you,
I'm not a private investigator, and it's not like I
have gone out and like done. You know, there's not
going to be a report in the Athletic that Jerry
Brewer is one of the byelines on about like all
the stuff involved with Arnold. But looking at the report
(02:44):
and what I know based on it now, it seems
like it's just like one of these really stupid macho
moves that somebody makes, right, like you think someone did
something to you and then you go all vigilanti and
trying to get like whatever your form of justice is.
I'm trying to think. I can't remember the cornerback who
(03:05):
came from Washington and had really good numbers in a
small a period of time and was big, like like
like you know the post Richard Sherman era Sehaus When
they were trying to get the next term. There was
a guy that got who had from like like in Florida,
had some gun related incident over some nonsense. They decided
(03:29):
to well, they they traded for him, and then he
got in trouble, and then he got cleared of the trouble.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Maybe got a one game suspension or whatever, and he
was fine the rest of the way.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
In terms of character, he just couldn't play anymore.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, yeah, exactly so. And I remember that, and I
was like, man, like, that's right on, that's right on
the edge there.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
And I think in general he was just a guy
who made a mistake. I do not like eight counts,
you know, hanging over a guy's head. Uh, but let's
talk about the football player that Arnold is. I mean, hey,
if if you think, if you're if your guys have
vetted this properly, and you think he's going to get
off or it's going to be more of misdemeanor or

something where he's going to be able to play.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Man, you you got a cornerback.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
You got two star cornerbacks again, you know, like this
guy can really play. And this guy, like in terms
of his football mind and mentality, I think he would
translate really well to a Mike McDonald's system. Him and
Witherspoon together. You're you're in the middle. We got to
remember you're in the middle of like the biggest arms
(04:44):
race I think we've seen in the NFC West since
Harball versus Pete Carroll, you know, back in those days
a dozen years ago, and the Rams, the Rams have
loaded up, and uh, everybody's looking at you and saying,
you did nothing during this offseason, and you're looking at
this situation and you're saying, hey, we've done nothing wrong
(05:05):
by NFL rules. Now, you could argue that the NFL,
when a guy has a case hanging over him like this,
it shouldn't be a team like the Lions have to
release them for PR reasons and that becomes a free
for all for the rest of the league because we
don't care about those PR reasons. You could say, like, yeah,
the NFL should do something about this, should just like
(05:26):
put all these guys on a no touch list, But
they don't do it that way. And I think it's
a worthy risk for the Seahawks to take. And if
they get twelve games out of this guy this year
and no problems, it's taking the best defense in the
NFL to another level. And you know, from a football standpoint,
(05:50):
I mean, it's exactly the risk you want to take
when you've got one of the best locker room cultures
if not the best locker room culture in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
You're right.
Speaker 5 (06:00):
I mean it breaks down to a risk ward reward proposition.
And if the only risk is that you might get
a little bad press from the minority of people that
don't like this move, but what other risk is there?
He's either gonna play because he's clear, or he's not
gonna play. Why do you think the Lions let him go?
Because I'm reading a lot. I'm seeing some videos out
there now going Wow, the Lions probably shouldn't have let
(06:22):
this dude go. Maybe they were a little knee jerky
on letting this guy go based upon what kind of
value he had on the open market.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
I don't blame the Lions that much, Dick, because I
think that's the culture, right. Like I think if the
shoe were on the other foot and it was Arnold
was a Seahawk and this had happened while he was
a Seahawk, there'd be so much pressure from people like, Hey,
I mean, it's like, what is your team really all about?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Are you just gonna let this guy go?
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I think it's a totally different equation when it's your
team and it's just fun it's different. And then you know,
the thing with the Seahawks is like, hey, if he
steps like not one foot out of line, like a
half a step out of line, they cut him. They
haven't lost anything, like in terms of real money. And
(07:12):
that's you know, I mean, I hate to look at
it in just.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
That cold way.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
And everybody knows me, right, Like Alisa and I used
to have a lot of fun because I'm like the softy,
you know, emotional one, and like Elisa is like the
you know, toughing up buttercup, you know, kind of person.
And we used to go back and forth about this
all the time. But I think just like fifteen more years,
a dozen more years of covering sports, covering pro sports,
(07:38):
covering football, like I I just say, hey, look, don't
hate the player, hate the game, and like, this is
the way the system.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Is set up.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
And look, hey, you're in a super Bowl window. And
if you think this guy can help you without like
damaging anything that you got going on, I know that
they have have vetted this about as well as you
can possibly vet it. And once again, it's there's a
difference between you know, this being a guy like JSN
(08:11):
who just signed one hundred and forty million dollar contract
and what you have on the line versus this is
a guy who's coming in for Kenny's on the dollar
based on what he's actually worth in his value.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
And hey, last I looked at their roster, which is
pretty damn good.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Like you could sit there and look and say, I
wish they had like one more frontline talented cornerback. Wish
they were a little more experienced and talented and healthier
running back. Right, you might have just solved one of those.
And if he doesn't work out, you had already planned
to do this thing without him. And so from the
Seahawks once again, it's it's a nobody hurt proposition. Now,
(08:52):
if there's more to this story and they look really bad,
it reflects.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Badly on them. But how long is Johnder been around.
I mean it's seventeen years, eighteen years. He's built he's
built enough equity if he needs to take a hit
on this.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
And like everybody else in the league, you know, if
the Seahawks didn't do it, John Harball, you know, super
Bowl winning coach who's now got all.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
The juice in New York, he was gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
And I Just think if there's ever a situation where
a guy can come in with a questionable mark against
his history and.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
You want to reform the guy.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
And also get the best out of him as a player.
Like I trust John in that front office, and I
trust Mike McDonald and what he's got going on to
keep this guy on up and up, and.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
You know, hey, and I look at.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
It, guys, Hey, if if the Rams are healthy and
the Seahawks are healthy at the end of the year,
like you can't win, You're probably not gonna win shootouts
against these dudes, right, like we'll like those are probably
gonna be ten to seven games, And this gives you
a better chance I think against Stafford uh And and

that offense if everybody's healthy.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
So, hey, don't hate the player. I hates the game.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
And let's see what this guy gott's let's suit this
guy's got.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Totally I agree with your point of the Lions. It's
totally different when it happens inside your house because they
would have had to have bor the brunt of everything.
The immediate reaction. Yeah, this guy struggles down the road.
I mean the risk in keeping him would have been
way bigger for the Lions than the risk and signing
him for the Seahawks, no doubt about that. But Jerry
Brewer's with us, and Jerry the Mariners got to win today.

Manage one run. Typically that's a game they lose. But
Logan Gilbert the bullpen got the job done five out
before a massive series with the Astros tomorrow. Col Umerson's
down in triple A. Kyl Raley's on pace to have
the lowest qualified batting average and the history of modern
day baseball. It's a total, complete disaster at T Mobile Park.

How do you assess what's going on and how this
thing will look maybe differently over the offseason if this continues.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
It's crazy when it's just a complete disaster. Do you
finally what a game at Yecke Stadium the stave off
a sleep?

Here's what Let's start with Colts right and JP's not
back right, so this is going to be a revos
just do whatever situation.

Because yeah, yeah, exactly right.

You just think that that hey, he's just been so bad,
we need to send him down, get his head right.
I think that Colt Emerson, guys, is the most important piece.

Julio cow level of like sustained competitiveness for this team.
I would have told you right when he was about.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
To be called up. If you ask me, hey, Jerry,
what do you think of of cold Emerson?

And this is someone who's kids used to love going
to Everett to watch him play, I would have told you, like,
I think that in terms of as a pure baseball player.
I'm not saying that he's got the freakish talent that
Julio sometimes exhibits.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Or the importance you know that a catcher who's got
someth like how normally is.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
But I would tell you that three years from now,
if you ask me, like, who is the best most
consistent mariner, I would tell you the cold Emerson.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
I think he's.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
A megastar, if not a super duper star waiting to happen.
And I hope that they haven't like messed him up
in this situation. I do think that he's the kind
of guy who can take this struggle, take this emotion,
come back like let's not forget you know how bad
Mike Mike Trout struggled his first time around. Then he

came back and he was like MVP level, right, and
like Cold doesn't have Mike Trout talent. But I think,
you know, if you had to ask me, like who's
gonna make sixth All Star appearances six more over the
next twelve years, I would say Cold right there with

with with Julia. So yeah, like it's a it's a
big loss. It's definitely a big loss.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
Does this series against Houston mean anything to you or
have you kind of packed it in on this baseball team?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
I pretty much packed it in on the team. But
you're going head to head with the squad and if
you can, you know, if you find a way to
sweep them, which I mean, the Astros don't impress me.
The sexast Rangers have just been a five hundred team
pretty much like every damn day the entire year, so
they don't impress me. There's still a chance that you
(13:55):
could catch some people in the division, right, like the
wild card thing. You know, the whole damn American League
is in the wildcard race, so you just don't know
how that's going to shake out. But like, this is
go time, This is go time. I don't think you
can I don't think they can even drop the series
to Houston, right, Like I mean, I think you're you're
at that point. Now, what where you have to be?
(14:19):
You have to pay six hundred baseball just to get
to five hundred, right, just the eighty one wins. And
I don't see a team right now capable of play
in six hundred baseball. And then now now you've got
nothing at shortstop, right, I mean it's just, Hey, I like,
I love Leo's postseason moment last year. I think he's
(14:42):
a great little role player. You know, he's a four
A player, right, And he's gonna have to hold it
down because the guy that you gave what an ninety
five one hundred million dollars too, isn't ready and and
and JP has been hurt or disaster all year himself,
so things are pretty dire. Cal was a great stand

up dude, but like, hey, it's great that you face
the media for fifteen minutes, but man, can you hit
two twenty instead of one fifty.

And then my thing now, guys is like, hey, the
big move that you made in the off seasons, you
made the trade for Brendan Donovan, and he should be
feeling good enough now to like have a moment and
Julio's starting to heat up a little bit there, and
Crazy Randy is going to hit the ball if nothing else,

and Naylor you see some signs like can like the
four of those guys get together and like just make
the offense where they score five runs more than once
a series, Like that's the hope, but like they're more
likely guys to fall even further behind and then have
some great September and then they end the year at

seventy nine and eighty three and they're like, hey, look
we showed a little bit of progress.

Like that that, I mean, they have to acknowledge the
fact that they have raised the floor.

you're about to about to have to trade Kirby or
Gilbert High. You're about to bring in you know, Kate
Anderson and Sloan uh maybe a little bit later, and

you're you're hoping that those guys are like bigger stars.

Initial window like that, you know they've done a good
job of like hey, it'll they'll never just be a
disaster anymore. But you already missed like one portion of

The other thing about Seattle, they're not aging out of this.
